Zen Ink & Carrie are by far my favorite! The atmosphere is calm and welcoming when you enter the shop. I have visited many times and each time I find new things to check out in the store while I wait on my appointment. The ladies at the front are friendly and do their best to make sure I’m taken care of and ready for my appointment. Carrie always has the cutest drawings and ideas!! She takes time to make sure each detail is perfect and is always patient when I need/want to make adjustments. Going to Zen Ink is honestly a fantastic experience. 10/10 highly recommend!

I had a wonderful experience with Zen Ink! In the months leading up to the appointment, the artist (Payne) revised the tattoo sketch many times per some really specific requests on my end. During the appointment, they were lovely and the ambience of the whole place is very relaxing. Would highly recommend Zen Ink! (And Payne!)

She took so much time with me, to discuss the design, the procedure and the care of my tattoo. She was so pleasant as she did the tattoo. I enjoyed our conversation as she worked. My partner and I both chose to get out first tattoos through a flash sale done by Nic - and it was the best choice. We were both exceedingly happy with the results! I can only speak to the reiki and gift shop, but I adore this spot in the River Arts District. Janet creates the most loving and supportive atmosphere for her reiki sessions and uses her intuition and empathy to help clients learn, heal, and grow. I'm eternally grateful to her! Besides lovely Janet, Zen Ink also has an amazing store full of beautiful and delightful crystals, jewelry, and other bits & bobs.

I can’t say enough great things about Zen Ink! I had been in to see Kass in September for a piercing and had such a great experience with her that I purposely booked another with her when I was back in town for New Years Eve. While I’ll admit to being slightly upset that my appointment was delayed, Kass, Janet, and Violit more than made up for it. And even when I stopped back in 2 days later with a slight concern about having enough room for healing, Violit took the time to come in, listen to me ramble on about it, and to address the small issue before I drove home 7 hours away. I would happily book another piercing at Zen Ink before even considering researching a piercer closer to where I live. Phenomenal experiences both times!

Had a fantastic experience here both on the piercing and tattooing sides of the business. I was really impressed by the professionalism displayed all around by every employee we interacted with. I came in initially hoping to get my septum repierced since it had been out for 2 years (I couldn't get any of my jewelry in and thought it had closed). Instead, Kass suggested she might be able to taper it back open- which ended up working, saving me money and healing time. She also helped me find a good replacement piece of jewelry for an existing daith piercing and changed it out. Both my husband and I were also able to get a next day tattoo appointment with Faith, who absolutely knocked our requests out of the park. I'm obsessed with my new tattoo and will definitely be back the next time we are in Asheville.

Zen Ink! Wow, where to start, first off all the space, THE SPACE. Janet and her daughter have created such a beautiful shop here for their Asheville friends and friends from afar. From crystals, to all other spiritual necessities you can think of (they also carry Anima Mundi products, bonus) they had it all and all of it held its own beauty as well as added to the total beauty of the shop. Next, my personal favorite part, meeting the ever so beautiful soul, Elias. Elias my friend, stay golden baby. Elias made my entire tattooing experience WHOLE. To keep it all simple, he showed up for me and didn’t stop showing up until it was time to go our separate ways. Thank you so much for giving me everything I’ve ever desired in the body art experience, this is coming from someone with 6 tattoos already. So much gratitude to Zen Ink for holding such love for all who enter their doors. My boyfriend got his ear pierced with a lovely being whose name we can’t recall but whose energy will never be forgotten. Thank you Beautiful. I have used Zen Ink for both piercing and tattoo. I first had my nose pierced by the lovely Melissa. She was truly delightful throughout the process. She is very thorough in her work, providing you with all the information you need to care for your piercing following your visit. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone! My tattoo experience was with Haji, who was wonderful from start to finish as well. He was very kind and supportive as this was my first tattoo! He took the time and care I needed to feel comfortable with the process, and I am thrilled with the result. I also had the opportunity to interact with the owner who is also fantastic. You really won't find a better group of humans. Highly recommend!

Was a little frustrated at first with my experience. The two workers at the counter had no concern with my appointment until I waited at the counter for a few minutes for one of them to acknowledge me. I did have to wait for over half an hour for my appointment. I understand they were busy but i had to pace around the shop because there wasn't enough seating. The only upside was the piercer herself, Kass. She was very sweet and helpful and was very gentle . She also stayed patient and calm. I highly recommend Kass.

It’s been roughly a month since I got a tattoo done by Sami. She was very kind and professional, made the experience a breeze. Front desk staff were also very professional. Front retail area of the store and the back tattoo areas are both very well lit and clean. The website makes it very easy to know what forms you need to fill out and what you need to bring prior to your appointment. Overall they have a very nice website, easy to navigate. Was given a handy little bookmark with my aftercare instructions. If I’m ever in Asheville again I’d love to get another tattoo here.

Wonderful experience over all. Traveled to Zen Ink for an appointment with Kristen (Brain Candy Ink). Staff was friendly and eager to help when I came in. Tattoo artist Kristen was kind, professional, and was willing to work with me over the months prior to appointment on getting my tattoo design perfect and spent extra time with me once I got there to work on sizing and placement. I did not feel rushed and I could tell she genuinely wanted to do her best work. She was gentle and accommodating. I came in quite nervous as this was the largest tattoo I had gotten so far but she put me at ease. She worked fast and kept things very clean. Kristen is a true artist who has perfected her craft! Storefront was beautiful as well with a variety of witchy items to choose from. Will definitely be going back to visit the store again and perhaps another tattoo. Thank you!

I stopped in to talk about a larger tattoo, but was able to get a small one that I've wanted for a while. Yuri is a visiting artist and was taking walk-ins that day, which worked out perfectly! He showed me a design much better than the original I had in mind and captured exactly the style I was looking for. He was very easy to talk to and was supper quick, while still making the tattoo look beautiful. I plan on working with him while he's here in the states on my larger project. Highly recommend him!

These were my first ever piercings and she helped me feel relaxed and positive the whole time - I especially appreciated her breathing techniques to get through the actual piercing quickly and easily. Everything was very clean, the environment was calm, and the staff members were super friendly. I’m thrilled with the placement of my piercings and the earrings themselves. What a fantastic place! Clean, relaxing and accommodating - Coming here has been the best experience getting tattooed for me, personally. Kate did my tattoo, she is doing a perfect job with a cover up for me. 3 sessions later, the cover up is done, looks and healed fantastic. Zen tattoo was honestly the best experience I have ever had at a tattoo parlor - I have 6 tattoos, been to multiple tattoo places and this has been the absolute best. Their prices are high because you are paying for them to take their time, follow cleaning standards to a T, and really make you feel comfortable. Haji did my tattoo and he was so kind, professional and detail oriented. Also did want to say - my tattoo is a character from a movie - this is definitely not all or even some of what the artists here can do. So talented and professional. Definitely will be back for more from them!

Wow, wow, wow! I have never had such a pleasant experience with any other tattoo shop. My friend and I were on the look out to get a tattoo, and after going through several, Zen Ink was able to fit us in after a consultation! Our artist was Shea, and he was absolutely wonderful.I love my tattoo! During my friends tattoo, she got light headed and nearly passed out, but Shea and the owner, Violit, were right on it with her. They offered her a snack, a sugar tablet, and water. They were very soothing and careful, definitely made sure that she was okay before continuing! Definitely recommend!

He was so nice and patient to help me decide what size, details, and placement I wanted for my first tattoo. Todd was professional yet really easy and friendly to talk to during the appointment. The best tattoo shop in Asheville for a number of reasons. Exceptionally clean, they use vegan ink, it's a calm and pleasant atmosphere, and the staff are always super nice and welcoming. But in my experience, what puts Zen Ink above and beyond is their artists are organized, punctual, and just generally make the entire process of getting the tattoo you want very easy and stress-free. And it goes without saying all the artists are incredibly talented, so you can't go wrong with any of them. Kate Cook is an absolute star, she stays busy but if you can get an appointment with her you won't regret it.

Got a my first piercing since I was probably about 8 years old with Melissa at Zen Ink! She was phenomenal!!!! Very nice, very professional and clean and made sure I knew exactly what she was doing the whole time! Made great conversation to ease my nerves and made sure I was very comfortable. The customer service was great, it was a very relaxing environment and Melissa made me feel very comfortable. My piercings were even and exactly how I wanted them. However, piercings are wayyy overpriced. I ended up paying $154 to have my nipples pierced and wasn't told how much it would cost until after the piercing's were done. It was stated the service fee was $70, so I expected with jewelry to be around $90, since all I got was a simple metal barbell. I've never paid over $70 for a piercing and I've had 8.

I love this place! I emailed them on Monday morning (Labor day) and got a response from the owner herself letting me know they were closed but would send it out the artists because they were working by appointment only that day. Emily got it touch with me and worked around everything she was doing to be able to fit me that day and get my tattoo done. She is amazing, tried very hard to understand what I was needing and wanting and actually we decided to go with a different tattoo for that day because the original I wanted to get done she wanted to be able to take the time and make it awesome. Great customer service, and the atmosphere is amazing! Will definitely go back there again and will definitely get my next tattoo with Emily.

Some friends and I were in town visiting for the week, and decided to get piercings while there. We reached out to Zen (very short notice) and they were so sweet about getting us a time scheduled while we were there! River is the sweetest and the best! I went into Zen Ink a few minutes before they closed. I really wanted henna done on my hand. I'd just had a bad piercing experience at another shop a few minutes prior. I told her about it as she did my henna. When she was done with the henna, she fixed my piercing issue in a jiffy which made me want to get another piercing. Her customer service skills are top-notch! Made an appointment on Friday and they were able to get us in on Sunday which was perfect! Mychela is amazing. I wanted a very dainty, thin line tattoo and she did it exactly the way I wanted it. Place is clean with such comforting vibes. They let you hold rocks (like rose quartz) during the session if you would like. Would recommend Zen to anyone.

The owner of the store was amazing! I absolutely LOVED the atmosphere and overall vibe of the place. I felt comfortable, safe and she always made sure I wasnt in pain. I had to make an emergency stop here because of a fault of another piercer from my hometown and the woman who helped change my jewelry took her time and was very caring. Also, I highly recommend their mix for a salt water solution! It includes lavender and does wonders for your skin! 10/10 would recommend!

I couldn't be happier! Mychela was the artist I worked with and she was phenomenal. She listened to what I wanted and created six different designs and then tweaked the final one I chose even more to my liking. She made made sure I was comfortable, even giving me a bolster for my knees to help with my lower back issues. She walked me through the process, took care of explaining how everything worked, what she was going to do, what I could expect and then how to take care of my tattoo. She really cares about her work and the people she's working on. Her style and skill was perfect for what I wanted. She's very detail oriented and also light handed - so the pain is nil. I am so happy I chose to work with her and she chose to work with me! Then there's the space! It's very calming and allows you the opportunity to have the headspace you need. I felt very relaxed and loved being surrounded by pretty bugs, art, stones and green walls. I would love to go here again!

Amazing work by an amazing artist. She helped me get a design set so perfectly and when it wasn't oriented exact we redid it without any fuss. Violit's work was so good I'd recommend anyone get tattoos from her. She seems to specialize in mandalas and the line work is so on point. Combined with reiki the tattoo I got at her shop (and continue to get worked on) was the least physically painful I've ever experienced.

The tattoo is a black phrase in delicate writing with stippling and tiny birds. Mychela created it from lettering and an idea designed by my daughter. It is perfect. My friend and I had consecutive appointments with Nic (Mackinsmind) and I literally could not have designed a better experience if I had dreamed it up myself. We had communicated before via email with Nic, but it's intimidating to meet someone for the first time... Well, any nervousness completely dissipated the second we met them! They were so patient, kind, honest, and descriptive throughout the process. It was so easy to trust them because of how they explained every single decision regarding size, placement, etc. They let us take the time to try out a few things until we were perfectly happy with it, made sure we were physically comfortable before, during, and after the tattoos, and was communicative prior to the appointment date, too. The studio itself is also incredibly relaxing and designed to be client-focused, it felt. The intimidation that comes with so many shops is nowhere to be found here, making it perfect for everyone regardless of whether you've been through the tattoo process before or are new to it. Also, our tattoos themselves are super crisp & EXACTLY what we wanted! I can't recommend this shop, and especially Nic, enough!
