Reviews of MD Oriental Market
Robert Negron
I have been shopping this asian market for over 20 years, it's one of the top 3 in Tampa. Live fish, crab, shrimp, lobster, clams, snails, geoduck and more in seafood. Butchered pork, beef, chicken, duck and more packaged and displayed.
Huge assortments of fresh fruits and vegetables are always present. The frozen sections abound with a trove of food gems. One of the most heavily stocked markets available with a myriad of products for all asian types.
For many years it was mostly asian customers but now you see all ethnicities shopping for the incredible variety, low costs, rare items and unexpected treasures. Today, live maine lobster was 12.99 a pound and live dungeness crab was 14.99 a pound.
Michele Soniat
Cheapest in the whole town I got nine pieces of bok choy for $4.00 I got carrots dried mushrooms with last me for a long time Wood ear mushrooms are the best. Try something new people it's awesome they have the best product and if you get dried it last longer and then just rehydrate with beef or chicken broth

We've always liked this place. They have a great selection of asian foods and ingredients, and the staff is helpful. They have fresh vegetables and fruits, some of which are hard to find in the US, as well as fresh meat and fish (but I can't comment on the quality since we're vegetarians).
They have some baked goods, as well as many frozen foods that are easy to cook at home. They also have cooking utensils and teapots and all that kind of stuff. Prices are reasonable.
Marsharena “Marsha” Lee
I enjoy shopping here. They have a great selection of fresh fruit & veggies. Excellent selection of Ramen. Great selection of frozen foods. They also have fresh fish...I mean still living & swimming fish, crab and other seafood. They have a great variety of tea and Asian seasonings. The only problem is that their aisles in certain sections are not ADA compliant. There are boxes on the floor that need to be stocked on the shelves and there is an odor in the store that needs to be addressed, other than that I enjoy shopping here. The veggies are excellent, and always fresh.

Like the other MD Oriental Markets, it has all your basic grocery necessities. However, this one has some specialty items that I didn't expect, like sweet rice wine yeast. I must now try to make some at home for fun. I recommend this place for your Asian grocery needs.
Vincent S
Has everything you need for most Asian cuisines, plus the vegetables are so fresh, yet so well priced! Only thing i haven't bought from yet is the fresh fish department, but will soon. Great staff, great workers, great market 👍 …

A great Asian supermarket. All kinds of fresh, and frozen, meats, fish, and vegetables. Canned foods, dried foods, noodles, beans, dishes, cookware, electronic devices, and lots more. Mostly cater to Chinese ethnic foods, and cookware. Is great to visit for American foods also. The freshest fish you can find, fresh shrimp, even live Tilapia. Less than a mile away from Beijing house. My favorite Authentic Chinese Cuisine restaurant in Tampa :)
Michael York
The go-to place for Chinese or East Asian ingredients. Only knocked off a star because I feel like cleanliness could be improved, but I mainly purchase packaged goods so that is not super relevant for me. Some of the vegetables are priced really well, others oddly expensive. Herbs and ginger are really cheap (in a good way).
Cosmic Traveler
You can find a lot of items you usually have to order online so you can run in and pick them up and start dinner in short order. Great place to find authentic Asian spices and food items. I recommend.
Bill “Billy D.” Donahue
This our first visit to this market. We were looking for ingredients to make lumpia. We found everything we needed after some help from a store associate. Incredible assortment of products from live seafood to spring roll wraps. This was an excellent shopping experience.
JOSH BURNEY
Going to this Market has been one of the best cultural shocks I've ever had I picked up a lot of great items and really enjoyed myself and if you're not as Brave as I am you should probably use Google Translate for some of the packaging but all in all it is a wonderful Market the staff there is a very polite and courteous I highly suggest checking this Market out they have everything from household to first produce and a selection of noodles that seems to be analysts they also have live seafood as well as frozen and everything in between when it's time to check out it can get a little busy there is five to six registers that are all open oh and don't be intimidated if you are not Asian or speak any Asian language there are people there are more than willing to help you out
Traelee Works
Ok, so it did smell kind of funky when we walked in. But, I want there for fresh seafood or whatever else contributed to it. I was there with teenage boys who wanted snacks and sauces.
If you want variety, this place is pretty amazing. We could have spent two hours really looking at everything in the huge market.
We bought a lot of drinks like ramune. Plenty of candy, ramen, chips, chili oils etc. The prices aren't bargain basement, but they are in line with other Asian stores I've recently visited.
I will definitely return to buy gifts, treats and harder to find sauces in the future. Service was friendly and efficient at check out.
Sabrina
Weird smell because of the fresh seafood, but I found some noodles and drinks that I've never seen in the Asian market back in my hometown. Lots of choices.
Jacob Haver
Great asian market near USF. They have a wide variety of snacks, meats, vegetables, fruits, and plenty of frozen noodles, buns, dumplings etc. Overall making for a good one stop shop for those type of items.
Vivi Ligas
Lots of nice selections, and they also carry brown sugar boba ice bar, tea,.noodles, dumplings, etc. They hace meat and seafood department as well. Fresh vegetable, kitchen ware, luck bamboo and herb sections.
Elizabeth Paradine
So many fun snack and food options! They carry everything I can’t seem to find at publix or other food stores. They lost a star because the whole supermarket smelled very strongly of fish even through my mask.
Marisha G
It has a few more options but I'm still partial to the one in Brandon. This one doesn't have hot food in the back but it does have massive fresh seafood options.
Lisa Garcia
There is a God!! Store is so similar to China Town stores in NYC. They got it all. And you can find fly strips, yes a bit ungainly, but after a few days, all those flies are gone. Works for 3 months. Yeah all the aunts, uncles and cousins. Don't ever, ever, ever get that strip on your hair. You'll have to cut it off. Had hair down to my waist, goodbye. Got to be careful removing them. Always wear gloves. All the hair grew back, yea.
Katherine Schara
We shop here all the time. Great food, great prices. thumbs up :)
Heriberto Hernandez
Great place. First time here. Huge variety of candy and Asian specific flavors. (Wasabi Lays, Crawfish Lays)
I came in for Guava candy only. Left with $30 worth of candy. I have no self control when it come to candy. 😑 …
MrP (Novatone)
Great Asian food center/market. About as good as you can get in Florida with an Asian population of ~4%. I'm happy to see some authentic Chinese/Japanese/Korean food - the market itself is Chinese branded. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy authentic Asian grocery.
Namori
Snacks and groceries are fresh and organized!! They're prices are great too~
Jason Babb
Awesome place to go. Got all kinds of stuff that I enjoyed. Purchased a duck and smoked it and it came out wonderful. Also got all kinds of Asian food and noodles. Enjoyed the live fish market. Can find eels and all other kinds of sea food that you could use for anything, from sushi or just making a great meal. Loved it will be going back.
Fatina A
This is a great store to buy fresh produce and pretty much anything you need to make Asian cuisine. The snacks are awesome and the prices are great.
Wayne Ayers-Creech
Coming from Maine and being married to a Filipina it was amazing to find a place where we can now buy all the ingredients for every Filipino dish!
Paul Fusco
Good Asian market with fresh foods but smelled funky mainly because fresh fish perhaps. Prices are high.
Alexander Simon
I'm here all the time for the fresh fish, frozen dim sum, and all the fixings for proper ramen.
Anthony Givens
Prices are a bit steep and they didn't have any dragon fruit which was why I went there in the first place, and the cashiers weren't friendly but this place does have fresh fish
Jovan Bojchevski
The place is nice. Not too much expensive. $$. But you can find everything what is connected with Asia. There is a Thai, Chinese, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnamese products. I love Asian food and l will come to this place again and again.
Adriane Guerreiro
I went there today for the first time and liked it. Cashier was nice
dana ciampaglia
Great place for Japanese candy and hard to find ramen.
Sony Abraham
The fish smell is strong but they had a lot of unique Asian snacks that I was looking for (ie: Panda cookies and Pocky sticks).
Loretta Redmond
I SHOP HERE EVERY MONTH,THEY HAVE SOMETHING NEW EVERYTIME...THEY ALSO HAVE LIVE SHRIMP AND FISH & SWIMMING IN THE TANKS,AND DUNGEONS CRABS..WITH TONES OF OTHER OVER SEAS FOODS... GREAT PLACE TO CHECK OUT..
Rusty Shackleford
Pretty good selection, gets a little crowded but mostly because it’s popular. A lot of produce I can only find here locally
Robert Carrington
Haven't been inside yet, but heard that it's a good place to shop.
Dawid Diamond
This is a good place to find many Asian food items. But their customer service and cleanliness leave much to be desired. As soon as I entered the front door, I was met with a foul odor that should not exist in any food store. The floor was filthy. The water in the fish tanks where live seafood was kept was greenish brown. When I tried to ask an employee a question, he looked at me like I just stole his lunch. Of well, but they carry some items that I cannot find in other stores.
Han N Lumin
Nice asian store and great bakery section
Rakibul Haque
I mostly visit this place for oriental sauces noodles fresh vegetable dried and live fish. For fish, this place is great. I do not understand Chinese language, but in my understanding their speciality is Chinese authentic grocery products. Customer service is really great. Worth checking it out.
carlos gg
Among many other things, MD Oriental carries herbs that are hard or impossible to find at traditional supermarkets, such as lemongrass stalks or mint leaves. At any rate, they are much cheaper here. The store is relatively spacious, and so it carries many varieties and brands of certain items such as vinegars (rice, Zhengjiang, ...), oils (peanut, sesame, ...), like a million brand of both fish sauce and soy sauce, noodles (Japanese, Thai, Vietanmese, ...), frozen dumplings (chicken, pork, ...), and, of course, teas (so many!). For the items that have expiration dates double-check the dates because once I picked up a bottle of rice vinegar that had expired the month before. The other consideration is that if you want to ask one of the guys whether they carry this or that item, it's better if you have a picture of the item on your smartphone because the English proficiency can be a bit of an issue. Also, since they carry goods from so many East Asian countries, they might not be familiar with the item anyway. In any case, whenever I have asked they have been able to help me, as far as I can remember. All the way in the back they sell prepared food made out of chicken, duck, and pig. Some are relatively standard fare while others are more adventurous. Among the latter, I dare suggest you try the pig ears and the spicy pig tongue (it's not spicy), but give a wide berth to the duck wings. They are hard to chew. There's also a mini bakery that sells Chinese-style pastries for like a buck each. If you've never tried them, may I suggest you treat yourself to a honeydew sponge cake or a red bean bun? You'll be glad you did. :-) If you don't like it, you are out a whole buck. The next to last time we were there the cashier gave us a free 2018 calendar. Very nice! The staff here is very friendly and helpful. Thank you very much! 谢谢大家!
M R (Salt Panda)
If you are looking for asian ingredients, you can probably find it here. Their selection on produce is pretty good and the instant noodle section is huge. It can be pretty hard to locate a particular item though.
Ying Li
Nice selection of Asian food. Clean.
Kylie Odparlik
Everything you need and then some. Great place. Made me feel at home.
Slake Counts
Such a clean store chocked full of lovely surprises at every turn. Did not find the tamarind paste I was looking for but I think this seedless tamarind will do nicely in my mung bean soup.
Durian Cacaoboy
Usually my go to for everything Asia, tampa store sometimes has better prices and different selections.
Peter Van Dermark
2 locations and very good selection of asian food, vegtables, meat and seafood.
Marina Chaikovskiy
Great store, although it's a little expensive, but they had nearly everything I came for.
Katrina J
Lots of selections and great prices. Excellent customer service!
Jared Menendez
I shop at a few different oriental markets around town but this is my favorite. They really gave a great selection of meat and produce, their frozen section is also really diverse. They have pretty much everything you could ever want from a great Asian market and all at very reasonable prices.
stanley
An area where Asians gather, the service is good, but the closing time is too early at night
Michele Stevic
One of the largest oriental markets in the bay area that I've been too. Huge selection different foods. Place is clean and well stocked.
TAINA J (TMARIE)
They have more than anticipated. If an improvement could me made it would be to organize aisles and walk areas.
Jourdan Ducat
Lots of selection and the produce section is well priced. It's impossible to get help looking for items so it's best to either know exactly where to look or be comfortable spending time browsing
Catara Bolling
I searched all over Tampa and Zephyrhills looking for this type of broom. Annnnnnnnnnnnd I knew that my favorite market would have it!
Mary Pead
This is a great Pan-Asian food store. They have a large variety of dry, canned, mixes, frozen & fresh foods from all over Asia. I was amazed at the Noodle row, 1 side dry, one side frozen, they must have 500+ types of noodles! The candy, crackers & sweets isle have so many unique flavors which are hard to find in the US. In the fresh veggie area they have some of my favorite mushrooms enoki. * If you eat tofu, their large pack is a great deal. Good vegan & vegetarian products.
Jennifer Fang
Great supermarket for different kinds of Asian foods/ingredients, esp those you can't find in regular grocery stores. They have a wide selection of fresh and frozen foods, dry goods and spices, snacks, and even some cookware and utensils too. Def the place to go if you're looking to make authentic Asian foods/drinks. I love going here for the fresh fruits, veggies, meats, and seafood - everything is always in good shape and the prices are great.
Ashley Carter
Great selection of food. Absolutely love coming here. Fresh live fish, fresh veggies and also good items you won't find anywhere else
Moonchild Fairy
My boys were impressed. We're always looking out for a new oriental market and when we found this one and check it out it was gold. So much choices and variety to choose from. They went crazy getting different snack and drinks. This will definitely be our top choice from now on. And staff was really nice. I'm pleased with the store.
Supun B Attanayake
Variety of Asian specifically Chinese food items as well as kitchen items are available at the store. The knife collection can be recommended as a high quality collection. The staff is helpful and courteous. The shopping experience can be further improved especially in terms of the cleanliness at the store. The smell right at the entrance of the store is quite disturbing and should be dealt with as soon as possible. This is not a one-time thing because it was an issue in all the times that I visited the store.
Seana Richardson
Really clean and well organized! I was very excited to find this place to get my favorite snack and try some new ones!
SCORPIO LADY
Very good place to shop i love they the stuff is so authentic and the only down fall is that they don't really have many workers that speak both languages.
allen
Love this local asian market in the Tampa area. Has almost everything you could look for if you are trying to cook Asian food. Fresh seafood and different selections of meat that are typically associated with Asian cooking that can't be found in American super markets. They got pots and pans, plates and kitchen ware, this place has it all. Definitely a must shop at place when in tampa.
Kevin O'Brien
Pricey but we can find most of our Asian groceries.
J VC
Cheap fresh veggies! Great prices on soy sauce and sesame oil! Weirdly enough they have a solid selection of dishes, cookware and utensils.
Nancy Christian
When we need rice in quantity this is where we go. Anything for cooking or serving Asian cuisine we’ve found here. 🐞 …
John Tone
Wonderful! I miss the hot food. I hope you can bring it back
MicrowavedFood 009
Doesn’t smell good 24/7 in the store. Expected since almost every Asian store smells the same. Roof was LITERALLY caving in. Mold growing on the roof everywhere. Yeah, it rains in Florida a lot but it looks like they don’t maintain the store regularly. They actually sold some foreign versions of snacks in the store like Chinese lays potato chips which were pretty cool.
Erika Faulk
Love this Asian market. Went for some items to make my own Asian style noodles and had to ask for assistance and was surprised the helper knew exactly where each of my items were (after I had spent some time in the exact area). Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is when you have live fish, please remove the one you know is no longer in that state of being.
Google User
This MD sits behind Boil Spot and not hard to find. It's bigger than the one in Brandon with a lot more variety. They have labels for each aisle which I haven't seen at the Brandon one so that was nice to find what we needed. The selection for meats is pretty much the same, nothing different there. Staff was stocking items and everything seemed to be in order. I enjoy coming here to look at the new things they have. They recently got in some self heating hot pots which I wanted to try for $10 but thought maybe for another occasion since it was a little pricey. I like coming here and recommend it if you're looking for Asian items.
joyce michele
So much! So wonderful! So confusing!
If only there was a map to the store... if only the English reader could figure out the content of these items then i could have likely spent 10 x more!
Also, the strong scent in parts of the store... Made me appreciate masks. This is cultural but so many other asian places do not reek fishy.... Pleasant staff. Should have a tour guide who speaks English!
K RITO
Good selection, been coming here for over a year now at least a couple times a month, as others have mentioned, the cashier team needs a bit more training in bedside manner. I absolutely understand language barriers are capable alone of destroying interactions but many of the mannerisms and motions used by this stores cashiers can come off as a little blunt.
William Van Orman
Excellent source for Asian cuisine cooking g and supplies. Clean, and comfortable.
Benjamin Klein
This place is a treasure trove of Asian goodies! If you know about Asian cuisine and are looking for authentic ingredients, you'll find them here. If you're clueless but adventurous, you'll find plenty to explore. Definitely recommended!
Keshia
I really really liked this place more than I thought I was going to. The selection at this market is unbelievable in every category. The ramen will blow your mind, so many choices and options to choose from. The vegetables and fruit are just so fresh. Freeze dried fish, frozen, or still swimming in the tank. I love that this market has cookware, dinnerware and utensils inspired by Asian culture. Aisles of candies, treats and snacks. I really liked the spices and meats as I can always visit this market just to get new things to put simple twists on my non Asian meals.
Elly Bovarnick
Wonderful Asian market with ingredientes and produce from all over Asia. I only buy mushrooms from here because they are great quality and the cheapest I have found anywhere. Good variety of bok choy and other produce. This place is HUGE and you can definitely find everything you need here.
Game Base
Great place with awesome prices on most items. The best item in my opinion are the buns from four star bakery (specifically red bean paste and custard ones). I mainly go here for the Assam milk tea, instant Ramen and those.
Katie Lowrie
Large, well stocked store full of things you won’t find anywhere else around here. We come here for the fresh fruits and veggies, rices, sauces, and dried goods. The last couple times, however, the smell when you enter the store has been...not good. I’m not sure if it’s fish or meat that’s too old, but we’ve been avoiding that section.
Culture Insight
Best place in town to find this kind of selection of fresh vegetables. Also fish and an extensive frozen foods section. If you're a foodie who likes getting creative with your home cooking it's 100% worth the trip. I go for the fresh lotus roots and fresh ginger and turmeric:) One of the reasons I moved to Tampa in the first place was for the diversity. It's a blessing to have access to all this good stuff!
Sheilagh Yeh
Great selection of fresh veggies, all kinds of seafood, multiple varieties of wontons/dumplings/ potstickers, multiple types of noodles and variety of wonton wrappers, canned items, beverages, frozen goods, etc. They carry the most extensive variety of ramen flavors imaginable. They also sell cookware, utensils, and colorful bowls. Everyone wearing mask and employees polite.
Nehad Darwish
Has all the Asian ingredients you’ll need while cooking. Great store to buy fresh veggies. Exotic array of items to choose from.
Belinda Garcia
Prices on vegetables is remarkable best around!!
C SMD
Easy, free, and lots of parking. Relatively clean except at the back. Well organized. Average prices, some were high, others were low. Has a lot of the ingredients and foods that you need for Asian cuisine. Fruits and veggies not so fresh. Have a lot of variety compared to other oriental stores.
Cashiers not so friendly, but fast service. They talked so fast you can’t understand them well.
Sandy C
Authentic Oriental Grocery offering fresh produce, seafoods, and all kinds of unique foods and some imported housewares as well. The store is immaculate and the staff friendly and helpful. I purchased frozen dumplings, dipping sauce, Szechuan stir fry sauce and some veggies - will try my hand at a homemade Chinese dinner
Roy Froebe
Great selection of Asian foods. Worth the drive from Fort Myers
Jade
Best place to buy Bok choys and oriental Greens .Great selections on Asian food.
Ninos “Azziz” Ibraham
This Oriental market has tons of great Asian products. From fresh produce to two isles dedicated for all of your favorite snacks.
This market also has a great selection of vegan products, fresh as well as frozen.
The employees are extremely friendly and helpful. After making my purchase, I had my hands full. The cashier was delighted to help me carry my products.
Definitely will visit again!
Robert van der Laan
Good selection of Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai foods ingredients. Products can be hard to find, organization in the shop is not always logical. Fresh produce is of very good quality and good prices. Wish they had more Malaysian/Indonesian products...
Nanay Ann
So happy they have this now... 😍 …
Kaili Jackson-Smith
They have a huge variety of food and items here! Great prices too. I always get great produce, snacks and dinner ideas. We love to get the curry packets. I would definitely recommend stopping by to check them out.
Grand Gao
Poor management and aggressive staff... the other ones are fine, but the one at the checkout is just ehh
--
Update: Much better service recently, haven't seen the rude staff members for a while. Changing from 1/5->4/5. Honestly, most of the people here are pretty kind & reasonable, items weren't bad at all either. It's just that one or two black sheeps that totally wrecked the image.
Tasnim Ara Islam Mou
I always go there for buying fishes and different kinds of fruits, especially mangoes. The fruits are really fresh. I bought shrimp and pompano fish from there. The staff from the fish section will clean and cut the fish. You can tell them your preferences of the size of the fish pieces. Sometimes it seems they are shouting at you, but I think its just their voice tone.
Lion Gardiner
This place has a very huge selection of great items. All kinds of spices, sauces and seasonings and for good prices. I was surprised at just how many eggroll and dumpling wrap types they had! I was able to find things easily and will see definitely be back to try more of the snacks, ramen potstickers and dumplings.
Pamela Vick
I love this store and can always find the oriental ingredients I can't find anywhere else. They have a huge selection of candy, teas (yes boba), and ramen. Along with live fish and hard to find produce. Their prices are good and the store is clean.
Lova Pumpkina
Large selection. Plenty of fresh seafood. Smells like rotten meat consistently, so I stay away from their fresh meat products. The freezers break down frequently and I've purchased more than one frozen item that turned out to be freezer burned or otherwise questionable, so I don't buy frozen stuff anymore either. I prefer the oceanic market in downtown Tampa, but this is closer to where I live and the prices are generally better.
Tom Newell
Has most of what you need in an Asian store. It also has fresh/live lobster, Blu crab, dungonous crab, shrimp, tilapia and sometimes crawfish.
Karthikeyan Subramaniam
Smell looks bad , but good quality fish and decent price
Arlene Adames
I enjoy Asian food in general, and like experimenting, so I find recipes and then try to re-create them. This is the perfect spot to find all the ingredients I may need to cook anything from Chinese to Korean, Thai or Japanese Food.
Circuit Husky
The best oriental market I have come across yet! It is very clean, packed full of products, and very popular. I always try to find something new to experiment with, and MD has so much to offer. They even have fresh roasted duct that is chopped and packaged ready to eat. Will definitely be stopping by anytime I am in the area.
Md Mahfuz Al Hasan
It's actually a mega shop like CostCo/BJ's. My main purpose was to buy a fish. The way they cut up and cleaned the fish, it was really good. The fish section seems cleaner than any other fish market I have visited. As most of the workers are not native English speaker, you might find it hard to communicate but that's not a big issue. Don't have much idea about other products. But the pepper paste I bought is going fine.
Kalu Nnanna
You can find almost any Oriental ingredients you are looking for here.
bogarts mine
This place is ok. It does not have such a big selection like the other location. Not a one stop market especially if your looking for beef. Their meat section needs more variety not all asians live just off small cuts of pork or chicken. Also the employees are sometimes snappy and are very short if asked for assistance. I dont know if its a culture thing or a language barrier but ive been treated better in other asian markets.
Saravanan Varadarajan
Will get good varieties of fish
Quang Li
Great selection, fresh sea food and butchered pork. Herbal teas and decoction ingredients. Sauces and noodles (fresh and frozen and dried). Crispy pork and roasted duck. Candies and snacks. Great one stop shop for making Asian style meals. Staff is friendly but may not speak English well. Good enough, however to do their job. I come here often and will keep going.
Clarissa Martin
My favorite Asian market right in downtown and tons of varieties. Herbal section, fresh seafood foods and veggies etc
Ana-Chris Stout
You can find most of Asian supply u need for household and restaurant as well
Trinity L
Very organized and wide variety of items. I love that they have the fresh (local) bakery items fully stocked too. One of my favorite MD locations
Jim Parent
I went to this market to get some kimchi. As I looked around the market, I was very impressed as to all the choices for oriental type foods...quite amazing.
I will definitely be back to try other types of foods...oriental style of course. Now I haven't a clue as to how to prepare the food, but hey that is what the internet is for. Plenty of resources to study from and we do like all types of food.
When I got home, the first thing I did was get a bowl and fill it with lunch I. Wow. Was it amazing. I had to get a 2nd helping
Sandra Stilson
The store is not the prettiest but they have a huge selection of Asian food and kitchen wear. Live fish, eel, and crab tanks. The produce is priced to be affordable and so many things available that are for the most part fresh. I never knew how many different kinds of noodles there were until my first visit here. The workers are friendly but do not speak English well and will still be as helpful as they can. We come here about once every 2 weeks and they are almost always busy.
Ms. Bee
The market is cute and nice to visit. You must know what you want before going into the store. Limited English speakers available. The hot deli is closed...so no hot food can be purchased there. Lots of a variety on noodles and other products.
Grace Cheng
You can find almost every ingredient you need for Asian recipes here. The items are well-stocked. This chain has knocked-over another "older" Asian grocery store in Downtown Tampa. Not surprising, because MD has better prices, newer stocks, cleaner aisles. Not necessarily friendlier staff, though. Even the roast pork belly at their Cooked Food section has improved. They either stole the recipe or pirated the cook from that "older" downtown store.
Do check the prices of your items as those are being ringed up. Lately I bought a couple of items that I thought was Price X, but when I got home and checked my receipt, they were rang as Price Y. One of the items was 2X the price, and the other item was almost 3X the price!! Unfortunately, I had used a debit VISA Card that had since expired; so I don't think I can get a price adjustment any longer if I take the items back (it is still within 7 days), unless they are willing to give me store credit. I had also consumed one of the items. So that's a lost case altogether.
Amber
I'm not so sure about the fish or meat, but the store has a wide variety of items and great quality vegetables and fruit. The prices are fair and the service is polite and quick. I recommend it since it is the largest in the area and organized well.
Catherine Seavey
I love shopping here. The quality and selection of produce keeps me coming back. Even after moving out of Tampa to New Port Richey, my husband and I make the drive every couple weeks or so to restock on affordable tofu, fresh produce, and a variety of packaged goods like vegan ramen, cooking sauces and vinegars, rice and sweet treats. The fresh-ish sweets/bakery goods are from Fortune Star Bakery off Armenia avenue. Highly recommend this grocery store.
Keara Taylor
I love this market! Such an immense selection of food and snacks. From desert to fresh, live fish they have everything! The prices are fantastic and I always leave with something new to try. Staff are very nice and helpful.
Kathryn Dean Collins
I love shopping here. Hidden gem.
Edward Leon
There are so many reasons to like this store. My favorite items are the melon popsicles, the pickled vegetables packet( I add to my soup😍] and Thai tea. The variety the store offers is worth the visit. From food to cooking utensils. Snacks to fresh seafood, ect. …
Brian Butcher
Wonderful big market! Huge selection, had everything I needed. I even found the perfect Tiger rice cooker that I've been looking for at a great price. Highly recommend!
Michelle Doll
I buy rice in bulk to save money, & they have an incredible variety, including long grain, short grain, sweet, red, brown & jasmine rice. I also pick up lots of fresh produce here. I don't eat meat, and this place has a LOT of frozen and canned meat substitutes. Are they processed, full of sugar & salt? You betcha! But as an occasional treat, they are still healthier than non-organic meat. MD Oriental market also has a huge wall of aquariums full of live fish! They all look & smell healthy. I come from a family of hunters & fishers, so I know what that means. If I ate fish, I'd buy it here. There is a full range of imported treats, as well as the basics food items I mentioned.
What ever you do, DON'T arrive at closing time & expect them to stay open for you. Ain't happening. It's a small business and these folks need their beauty sleep same as the rest of us. Be courteous & show up before 7:30 pm to allow time to shop & check out. [I say this because I'm probably the worst for this habit. Trying to make up for being a pain ;-) ]
Elmer Deloso
We love this Asian market place, primarily their fresh seafood section where 2-3 guys PROPERLY clean/gut/prep your fish just the way you like it FOR FREE! And they do it with a genuine smile! They also have a good supply of other grocery needs, and the ladies at the cashier are very helpful in getting all the shoppers checked out speedily.
PJ Rosen (PandemicFoodie on Insta)
Good selection but prices are higher than other markets in the area and the smell inside is overwhelming 😔 …
Karen Goss
This store has a lot of variety from veggies to frozen foods. I even found fresh longan but at a high price of 6.99 a lb. Usually season for that fruit ends in early August. Visited store at about 7pm and it was not crowded.
Sharon Bell-Hill
Been shopping here for several years. Always fresh produce. Great meat and seafood. Live fish for sale and sometimes crab and snails. The seasoning section is superb. Most of all, they date their pre-packaged produce.
Alan Berman
Love shopping here. Lots of interesting items if you are adventurous and willing to try new things. The prepared foods they have are very recommended. If you've not had crispy pork belly or Chinese roast duck before you are missing out and MD's versions are very good. Check them out.
Rev. kent norton (Mindful Mediator coach)
The best selection of food ever and no one watches you walk around the store and you’re free to browse. There’s a great selection and I can find Asian food here that I couldn’t find anywhere else. When I come over to Tampa I always stop here and bring back a load of things. Their produce is fresh and the store is very laid-back and easy to walk through the isles and experience new tastes
April Duffy
Decent store for Asian food and supplies. Noticed on this visit (8/2/20) though, some bare shelves. Must be difficult to get some items right now. Still good stop. The area is a little run down, so lock your doors.
Anparo Hernandez
Has a great selection on Asian food. They even carry Durian fruit.
Adeola Lake
They are back open after closing for a bit. They are enforcing that everyone wear masks to enter and that we try to maintain 6ft of separation. They are also cleaning more regularly to maintain safety. I'm so glad they are back open and are doing all they can to protect their workers and their customers. I love shopping here.
Elisabeth Cook
Love it best selection of Asian ingredients around great prices and quick staff
Jay
Great oriental market with unique varieties of items from all parts of Asia. Live seafood! Also, there is a mini lunch area which has there delicious “crispy pork” its great! Im a bit conscious so i recook it by the skillet before eating it 😊 its really good! …
Susan Eschrich
I think this store is clean, well- stocked and fairly priced, with an excellent fresh-produce department and a truly impressive noodle array, including multiple brands for diy ramen. The fresh bean sprouts and mushrooms are among the best I've had, period! The service is always courteous, and they will be glad to answer your questions if you ask. The fabulous selection of sauces will definitely open your mind!! There's also a good selection of teas and, more recently, kimchi. They are the only place I've seen in this area who carry a large variety of frozen dumplings and dim sum. I really enjoy shopping here!
Dan D
Good selection of items. fruits were good but the vegetable produce all had a "going bad" smell and the taste was no good at all.
All the packaged goods and prepared items were great though.
Definitely prefer the MD oriental market in Brandon to this one. cleaner and better produce.
Tonya W.
Been going here for years. Tbis store has everything one needs for dinner...from rotisserie duck to fresh lobster and fish that u get to pick out of the tanks! Awesome variety of seafood and exotic/domestic meats...including an entire isle dedicated to TEAS!! LOL.
Richard A
I love this place. So cool to just walk around in. Great selection of rice, snacks and tea. You want duck tongues, they got em. 1000 year old eggs, of course. Live sea food dispatched, prepared, and packaged, all day long. Frogs legs, naturally. What don't they have. Only down side, store is a little disorganized.
Peter King
Well stocked with dry goods, canned food, noodles....and great vegetables. Fish market is always busy with fresh catch. If you require a special, specific item then you'll probably locate it on the shelf in this market.
Mimo Meep
I love how there is a huge variety of Asian products. I tend to buy rice, seasonings, bakery goods, noodles, tea bags, treats, drinks, canned jelly, tofu, seaweed, rice wrapper, and etc. The prices are reasonable. I can also purchase a box of stuff at whole sale price. Sometimes there are deals on Pocky! The staff is friendlier than before. Most of the staff members can speak English fluently. And they've been helpful when I am looking for a specific product.
Tosin Adekanye
My friend from China made food for me and I loved the foods especially the veggies and asked where to get them and she recommended MD oriental.
Guys, they have an amazing selection of Ramen! I got a healthy one which was high in fiber and protein (it was made with whole wheat) and low in calories. They carry many things which would be ideal for those who love experimenting with food (I got seaweed pasta). The prices are also extremely reasonable. The only down side is that it's not the cleanest.
Keith Jarvis
Huge selection of Asian grocery and household items. Has fresh produce, meats, and all sorts of things for making traditional Asian cuisine.
The people here are friendly and the store is situated like a typical asian store with lots of options from multiple countries.
Can also get cookware and other kitchen and dining items to help with cooking and presentation of your favorite Asian dish.
Lastly, if you want the Asian versions of personal care products, shampoo, deodorant, perfume, etc. They have that as well.
Miriam Salazar Ortiz
A true goldmine of asian goods.
Fresh radish, bean sprouts, heaps of garlic, fresh taro and nothing over priced! Got 2 tubs of fresh peeled garlic $2 each. Theres not only a fresh seafood mart but also meat and everything is so well priced im surprised why anyone would shop anywhere else.
Steam buns, sesame balls, rice cakes, kimchi, frozen boba, dumplings and sumai galore! These fridges are packed with baked and savory goods. Dont even grt me started on the ramen section and the tea isle? One might say too many options 😂 you really have to visit you wont regret it!
Priyank Maiya
Great for greens, noodles and Asian snacks.
Victoria Seaman
I have to buy my usual needs but I notice everything is so expensive.
Mona Goossens
An exciting, exotic variety of ingredients for any Asia dish you can think of. Canned, fresh, and frozen varieties. I recommend it for all your Asian food recipes.
Janna Rolfe
This is a good local store if you need or want Asian items for cooking. They have fresh produce and seafood which is nice. The prices are reasonable and you will probably find new things to try!
Kris Tyne
You can pretty much find most oriental groceries here, But Things and goods are pricey because they don't have much competition nearby. Fish are not always fresh, so be careful.
Check the vegetables, they are all bagged up. Many times I found old leafs hidden between greener ones just so they can get rid of the old vegs. Fruits are over priced.
And their cashiers are cheap with their plastic bags. They will stuff the bag to the tee. Idk why these Chinese folks have these similar mentality when it comes to bagging. You spend the money and they can't give you an extra plastic bag!! 😯
Kelly Young
I've been to about a dozen Asian grocery stores all over the Tampa Bay area, and this one is the best. Enormous selection, great prices, everything's fresh and delicious. They also have a great assortment of dishware, cookware, and other unique non-edibles that are ridiculously cheap. You really cannot go wrong here. No wonder they've opened more locations!
Kornelia Von Schwerin
This place has good prices and a great assortment of Chinese food ingredients. They do have a few Philippine, Korean and Japanese food items. I usually just go there to buy their miso. They have a lot of non gmo stuff.
Plentiiface_ Young
I usually don't have bad things to say about this place but I warn not to eat the bread. The pastry ones that be individually wrapped.. across from the fruits.. I know that they aren't the ones to make it but they sold it. Mine had a gnat in it.
Chrisan Holton
Won't go anywhere else for my Asian food supplies. Best Kimchi, next to mine, and I skip all the work. Great selection of noodles - fresh, frozen, and dried. Expand your culinary skills and try some Asian recipes!
Suresh Kumar
Love the fishes here. They are very fresh and reasonable price
Kelley Johnson
I really appreciate their constant efforts to keep the store clean, and for employees to be safe during this time of COVID. They are continuously cleaning the store.
Great selection of oriental foods, wines, dishware!
Sean Shawn
The BEST asian market. More than anything they have Really Rare fruit (lychee, longnans, durians, jackfruit, lychee). They also have slices/pieces, so you dont have to buy a huge fruit if you dont want to.
also, there are low-sodium + organic options (of things like soy sauce).
HUGE Variety of items.
Have rare meats as well. Bought a Cuttlefish for 10$ (whole foods octopus is 30$ for a pound).
Highly recommend. Also, the staff is really kind and friendly to foreigners.
highly recommend !!
Ashley Garcia
This store has everything an Asian from out of town is looking for. Definitely will be coming back when in town.
Sean P.
Provides a whole variety of Asian foods and fresh meats around USF area. Great place if you like Asian foods. Most of the meats are fresh and priced lower than other grocery markets. Place is clean and cashier was nice. Overall, a great oriental market, would definitely would go there again soon!
Austin W
So awesome, the produce is so abundant and the staff are very clean, helpful, and sweet!
E J
have a really neat selection! It was a fun experience with my kids until we left the store and were harassed by a homeless man begging for money and then calling everyone who wouldn’t help him greedy, get rid of the trash please!
Jennifer Kean
I really like Asian markets and this one had a bit of everything. Decent selection of Japanese and Korean food as well as a plethora of Chinese and Filipino choices. Also the rice here is cheaper than buying online.
Dragon Dean
My go to place for Tapioca boba pearl and Saba Banana..
Jasmine Ing
The best Asian Market in Tampa!! They have everything you need. I going to come here every 2 weeks from now.
Grace Hagerman
We have been shopping at the Oriental Market for years now. Food ingredients and health, beauty and herbs/spices as well as fresh produce, meat, fish and foul are available here. Need a tea pot? How about cookware or China?...a favorite type of rice? Rice noodles? The selection seems endless...
D Norstrand
Great prices and friendly staff. They have many hard to find items from many different Asian countries. Fresh seafood is hard to beat, they have tons of different options that change with the seasons.
So young McCollaum
Best place for Asian veggie and spices, mostly Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, and some Korean. Small ready to go deli sells fresh made BBQ pork, soft shell crabs, fried rice, and spring rolls. Fish market section has live crabs, lobsters, and wide selection of ocean fish.
Sam Giancana
Great place. The best in the area for asian food and supplies. I wish there was one closer. I travel about an hour to shop here. No better asian grocery store around. Plus they sell alot of asian household items like pots and bowls and utensils. Prices are very reasonable. Large selection of just about anything you may need to cook asian meals. Love this place.
Gd Virno
Went there for the first time and they have the best exotic Asian snacks and food you can find. Very good place. I would definitely shop here again.
ManGod Haiti
I would give 5 stars but if you don't know what you want or the name, good luck on finding good assistance. Other than that they have most anything you need at a good price. Food is fresh and shelves well stocked...
nunya beeswax
Coming from St Louis, this supermarket had pretty much everything that I would get. The staff are very friendly and the selection is nice. I liked the fact that there was a bakery with the duck hanging in the back. I wish they would have more swimming seafood though. Overall, for a quick pick up for dinner is perfect for me!
Robert Cheung
Large selection of fresh vegetables and Asian cooking ingredients, also fresh meats and fish. Excellent assistance if you can communicate in Mandarin, polite and adequate in English. Would give it a five star rating if they would improve their appearance.
Nabin Saud
Only go here for wrappers to make dumplings (mo:mo)
Victor Hong
MD market has a large selection of Asian groceries, frozen foods, fresh fruits, and imported dry foods. The butcher section stocks many specialty cuts of meat which are used in ethnic cooking, such as beef neck bones and pig feet. They also sell live fish, crab, shrimp, and eels. I haven't bought any of the live seafood, so I don't know if their (medium) price includes preparation. My only complaint is the original side of the store is cluttered, so it is very difficult to move around other shoppers.
Kevin Jones
Fantastic Asian market. Well lit and neat. Lots of goodies and fresh produce as well. Helpful staff and quick checkout as too. I always enjoy shopping here when I am in Tampa
Richard King
Picked up all the tea I needed but forgot to restock the tumeric powder.prices we're about the same as last visit only make the trip twice a year.
Eo P
Good varieties of food selection, but there are occurrences where posted price vs checkout price do not coincide. The employees and owner are unfriendly and sometimes rude. When it is proven wrong in pricing, they would NEVER offer it to the customers, as a courtesy, to honor the price posted. It is always an attitude of "this is the way it is, you want to buy it or not, your choice!"
TehShush
Nice variety in their inventory, great for some hard-to-find Asian ingredients, hardworking staff who take care of the store and the customers. I've shopped here for many years and will continue to do so because I truly enjoy this store.
Brad H
We visited a lot of Asian supermarkets in the Tampa Bay area and this one had both the largest selection selection and the best prices. They sell dry goods, frozen food, fresh fruit and vegetables, live fish and other seasfood, cooked meals, and fresh bread and cake products.
Mostly Chinese food but a huge selection of Japanese and Korean food, as well as other Asian foods.
Good restaurants nearby.
Nakisha Gray
It is one of the bigger Asian Markets in Tampa. They have a variety of goods, but since they cater to a wide audience you might not be able to find specific items the way that you want them. It is pretty clean place and I feel comfortable shopping here. I will say that you may need to come with time in your hands because it might take a while to find something. The staff will try to help, but some of their English is limited.
T J
This is my Disneyland . Super well stocked. I love the one in Pinellas more, and the Brandon one I wouldn’t waste my time going to. But this one is the closest to me and I don’t mind it. The one in Pinellas is the biggest.
Jane Franny
I love this place. I want to try all the chips and crackers and candy. Just for the novelty of it. There are several aisles dedicated to snacks. I always feel self conscious in the checkout line though because most people are buying food for dinner and I'm just buying snacks. :)
atul acharya
Good place for chinese groceries. They have fresh vegetables and awesome fruit drinks
Erik Noonkester
Great selection of everything from food to dishes and cookware a 1 stop shop for all kinds of needs
Kay M
I go here for any ingredients Publix doesn’t carry, like my rice vinegar and strawberry mochi icecream! The staff was really helpful and polite when I was looking for tempura breading the other day. I love how fresh their seafood and vegetable sections are, plus all the cute bowls and chopsticks for sale!
Katie P
Large Asian grocery. I feel like you need to know what you are looking for when you go in our at least be ready to wander for a bit. Aisles are labeled but quite large and they have a lot there. Great if you need ingredients for something you are cooking or looking to stock up on your favorite snacks you can't find elsewhere.
Janice
A delightful was to discover Asian food products. Most things are also labeled in English. You can find prepared hot food in the back of the store. Fresh fish are kept alive in tanks. A large fresh vegetable area. Also lots of frozen food products are available.
Marilou de la Cruz
There are a lot of things that I would buy from this store except for their fish. Three times in the past each time I bought the milkfish, there was an odd smell to it so I stopped buying. That made me think that fish sold in this store was not fresh. My last grocery shopping was about a month ago and it included pork belly. It was another bad experience because the pork belly came with the bristles still on the fatty park of the meat. My grandchild who loves adobo now refuses to eat it after he saw the hair sticking out of the meat. Is MD trying to make more money by buying poor quality products and selling them at a higher price now?
Jenie Krebs
Wow oh wow!!! What an awesome place to shop. Such a wide variety of products. I found all I was looking for and more. Haven't seen this big of a store since Maryland. I will be back.
Alex Pietropaoli
The only main Asian market I visit. You just need to go check it out to know if they have what you want, but there's a lot. Japanese snacks/drinks are semi-plentiful, if you're into that!
Rubel Ahmed
Fresh and live fish, must try. The fish cutting people are friendly and you often have to show the size by hand measures.
Steven Dougherty
Great selection of goods. They have a large fresh fish selection. Their roast duck, crispy roast pork, and char sui pork is top notch.
Arya Fein
The prices are nice but if you're white or any other color you will get nasty looks. I will be going back since Oriental food is far and in between though. Worth the 25 minute drive to use. Can't be picky. Take it for what it's worth.
Zac Corbin
Very wide range of items and products however the store could be kept much cleaner. Most staff are friendly and helpful but if you're wanting to make a return, forget about it.
SC Bisconti
I love that there is so much variety! So much ramen and steamed buns, and mochi. Literal heaven every time I walk in. The ready to eat roasted pork was phenomenal. It was just as good reheated.
Phyllis Panozzo
MD has everything you need for Asian cooking
Anthony Not-Tony
Aisles are clean and not cluttered. Most prices on their dry goods are reasonable, veggies are a little pricy. Haven't tried the food in the back yet, but the roasted duck looks yummy! It doesn't smell like fish so that's a plus...could've given 5 stars but I made a mistake of trying to use their restroom - needs a lot cleaning and attention.
Ian Singer
Selection, selection, selection!
Live seafood, fresh/frozen produce, and proteins. Huge selection of dry goods.
Not the most organized, and definitely not a traditional American supermarket.
This is a traditional Asian market with a vast selection of goods.
If you are seeking some exotic ingredients, you WILL find them here!
Duck, squab, chicken, pork, and the various parts of these creatures.
Do you want your duck feet bone-in or boneless?
1000 year old eggs.
Durian, and jack fruit.
Snails to eels.
YES PLEASE!
Michelle Doll
Pros: Only place I know of to get brown jasmine rice. Can buy white jasmine rice in 25 lb. bags. Unique items include: live fish, Baum cakes, rice seasoning, imported treats of all kinds including cookware, tea pots & sweets. Fresh fruits & vegetables inexpensive and in perfect condition.
Cons: Brown jasmine rice only available in 5 lb. size or smaller. The staff covers the cold cases (freezers and vegetable coolers) beginning 15 minutes before closing, and gets really bitchy if you uncover them to shop. Store is not clean enough. Everyone seems to speak & understand English just fine until you have a question or complaint, then only 1 dude can help. Really not sure what that is about.
caleb hollingshed
Great store they got pretty much everything you need for your far east cuisine experience.
carson che
Very good grocery store. Has variety of asian products and its very sad that they take the hot food selection out of the store due to covid 19
Pyra-Danny V
With more vegetables at lower prices, more instant noodles for the hungry college student, and more Asian countries represented (Hello Tampa Bay? There’s more than just Chinese and Vietnamese here!) this is definitely one of the best Oriental markets around here. There’s many fresh vegetables and live seafood and items in the freezer area don’t look like they’ve been left there for months. Often crowded, it’s easy to get ignored by the staff, but I’ll look past that minor inconvenience.
Alex Henao
Decent selection of specialty fruit and vegetable(most of the time not the best quality...) and Asian processed products. Store could be cleaner and more organized; it's not a pleasent smell when you walk in.
nitin shettigar
Great place to find fresh asian produce and tropical fruits. They also have a full fledged meat section. I especially like the selection of fishes available here king fish, pampano, flounder, tilapia, snapper, bass, croaker, mackerel, shrimp, squid, shellfish, blue crabs etc. They also have live crabs, tilapia and shrimp.
Ben Mohan
We particularly go here for the fish. If you want fresh fish, then go here. They have good varieties of fish from time to time. We can also get live crabs, shrimps, eels, tilapia and many more. They will cut and give it to you for no extra cost. They also have a wide selection of Chinese food items. The collection of utensils they have here are a bit more expensive compared to Walmart. But they have lot of items that you won't find in the Walmart.
A P
This is the Mecca of Asian foods in St. pete/Tampa and probably the best offering of imported foods from Asia anywhere. Best selection of Japanese goods (which is what I usually shop for) but they have a large assortment of Korean, Chinese, and other Asian foods as well. Because I'm a Japanese import goods snob, lol, I stand by the products that they have. Also, they have the best and most legit selection of real I'm imported Japanese sake and I will vouche for them. The St. Petersburg location is the best location for the largest variety in selection. Overall best place for Asian foods and products in my opinion. It's also cheaper to go grocery shopping if you buy a lot of produce.
Arlette Lee
Prices don't compare with the cashier prices. Watch out.
Deanna Minor
Needed pho bowls and spoons. Great variety to choose from and very inexpensive. Will be checking them out in the future for other Oriental supplies and food items in the future.
Andy Fischer
Great oriental/Asian market with hot food, fresh fish, baked goods by Fortune Star, and tons of Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean staple foods.
Lots of frozen goods, fresh produce, and specialty drinks. Better prices than other oriental grocers in Tampa. I am here once a week or so for hot lunch or specialty food items or drinks.
april santos
Smells in there but overall found everything I was looking for.
E Fowler
Great seafood prices. A pound of shimp, FRESH GULF SHRIMP, are only like $4.99 a pound. I know, I know, I didn't believe it either. At checkout, I kept asking the guy is the register was broken.
Arjuna007 Bharat Maharajh
This is a superstore for your Asian products and groceries. Items are always in stock, vegetables and fruits are fresh. Staff are friendly and helpful. The bathrooms are ckean. However, their rules and policies are more geared to their conditioned society. The owners or managers demonstrste residue of their dictatorship/totalitarian society. Their style of customer service are typical of small business conduct in their homeland neighborhoods. They communicate in their native language to each other when in your presence while addressing a westerner's concern. It would be professional to explain that to the customer, prior to the engaging. Service such as this, are very typical with small business in foreign countries.
Quan Le
Great service. When we arrived at 8:00 p.m. exactly, the employee was about to close. I had no hope that I could get in to buy what I wanted, but surprisingly one of the staff asked me what I needed, then he came inside and got it for me, even though I just wanted to buy only one item. Besides, almost everything an Asian were craving for could be found here, from fresh crab, lobsters, crawfish to durian, rambutan, mangosteen to thin sliced lamb for hot pot.
Susan Rosulek
All things Chinese, Vietnamese, etc! Fresh fish, crabs, meats available as well as lots of Asian fruits/vegetables. Huge store filled with canned goods, frozen items, cookies, candies, Chinese dishes, pans etc
Father Finger
WORKERS HER WON'T SAY HELLO OR HI. PEOPLE OUTSIDE BEG FOR MONEY WON'T ACCEPT FOOD. WORKERS WON'T HELP YOU WITH PUTTING GROCERIES IN BAGS EVEN THOUGH THEIR GROCERIES COST MORE THAN WALMART.
Google User
Oh I love this place,so does my kids,so many different variety of food.
Kelsey Greene
I got pigs feet so I could practice tattooing, great prices!
Christopher Redd
goodness, let me tell you, if you can't find it here, you'll have to hop on a plane. great selection, very friendly staff, great prices. even if you just walk in to browse, you'll leave with something. because they have everything. the candies are yummy!
Aprillynn Lloyd
This place had everything we were looking for. Nice change from the typical shopping options. Focus on all Asian goods. Worth the trip for a new variety of options.
Monica Diaz
I buy my shrimps fresh here and the egg roll stuff here. Also they have cool items like bamboo plants and other items
Kat
I particularly love the MD Oriental Market for its selection of fresh and decently priced produce. It's my go-to location for Indian and Chinese Eggplant, Napa Cabbage, and fresh herbs.
The giant tub of green tea ice cream is also a guilty pleasure. :)
Lee Sylvester
Highly authentic Asian market repleat with sights and smells. Wide selection of foods and goods to turn any kitchen into an Asian bistro.
Julia Apostol
Great selection of snacks, meat and produce! They also sell ready to eat meals, which are yummy! The prices are definitely competitive compared to other oriental markets
A B
I can't count the number of times I've been to this market. The selection is fantastic, the staff is really helpful, and they have great hours of operation. My boyfriend and I thought it was a little awkward asking for help from the staff at first because they seemed so quiet, but if you have a question they are more than happy to help! I will continue to shop here until I move out of Tampa. :)
crnio pharyngioma
This store carries a good assortment of oriental products (foods, produce, and household items) and it's certainly more convenient than driving down to the Oriental grocery stores in Brandon.
One comment, however, needs to be made: the store management desperately needs to train its staff to be more courteous to the patrons. The staff's brusque mannerisms and at times barking communication may be considered acceptable in Hong Kong or Taiwan, but in this country, it's downright rude. I have seen store personnel shout or speak rudely to patrons. This is unacceptable.
And as for your staff that operates the cash registers-- they need to try to be more pleasant. For example, the person checking me out had the utmost sour-looking scowl on her face. Absolutely unnecessary. A smile goes a long way.
It makes me wonder: Are the employees at MD Oriental Market are trying to cope with a hostile work environment ?? Or are they simply poorly trained ?? Either way, it's a pity.
MD Oriental Market already has a good customer base; however, I'd be willing to bet that more customers would come if they didn't feel they were about to risk some unpleasantries by the store employees.
Jenna V
This place has an incredibly wide array of interesting asian grocery items. It is not easy to navigate if you are looking for something specific and the store employees seem to speak very little ( if any ) English so asking questions is not really an option. However, it's a place I would recommend checking out if you're into trying new things and have the time to wonder through the store, it's pretty huge. Yummy asian sweets and sodas. Try a leechee drink.
ignatz laripu
This is a great Asian market. (Disclaimer: I'm not Asian, but I've been going to Asian markets for around 40 years.)
Beside all the bottle and jars of sauces, and a vast array of spices, they have fantastic vegetables and herbs, at excellent prices. I like to buy dill and cilantro here, for example. They have a good selection of mushrooms, excellent carrots and of course bok choy and Napa cabbage. They also have a good selection of fish.
There are some things here that you can't easily find elsewhere. For example, I bought a couple of duck eggs here, and made a fantastic duck egg omelet for my wife and myself.
If you don't speak Chinese, and need help, you may have to resort to sign language. You should have seen me pretending to be a duck to ask where the duck eggs were! The employee and I had a good laugh together.
Elise Smith
I always go to MD Oriental Market for my Asian food needs. The store is clean and they always have what I need. The prices are high for some items and low for others, it all depends in what you are buying.
Romernita Ballard
Like to buy something new foods to taste
Honey2800
They have amazing stuff in here. And if you are in the mood for carry out, you can get roast duck, bbq pork and other yummy things to take home and eat.
If you want to cook it yourself you can find fresh and frozen ingredients to make many Asian dishes.
Need a wok or other cooking equipment to make your meal? They got it there.
What a bout Sake, Plum wine or a non alcoholic beverage to go with you meal?
Yep, you can find it here.
You addicted to Pocky and Asian candy? You will be in heaven here in their snack aisles.
Alexander Rogalnikov
Very nice store. It got quite a bit of variety of local and imported foods. Including but not limited to fresh vegetables, meats, seafood, dry goods and spices and frozen foods. Prices are reasonable and worth checking it out.
mrspumpkinking1
Very wide spread variety of asian products, foods fresh to frozen. Household good from cooking to toiletries. High quality items at a reasonable price.
Andy James
I shop at MD Oriental Market every week for Asian food items, seafood and specialty fresh veggies. The prices are very reasonable and quite frequently less than my standard grocery store.

Always fresh pig liver. Lots of goodness. I wish it were closer to Springhill.
Keith Schott
It's one of the best stocked Asian markets in Tampa. Prices for produce are relatively low and the selection of imported products cover India, China, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia. Selection from each is limited, but for the size of the place, its substantial.
Gabriel Ortiz
Fair prices delicious food love shopping with the kind people
Sophia Carney
Great place to get Anything Asian..Fruits, Vegetables, Fresh Fish, Game, Different Type's of Poultry, Lamb, Goat, etc. Great Hot Deli with Peking Duck and Pork dishes, a Bakery, HUGE section of Dumplings and Spring Roll's...Spice's, Herb's, Tea's and Sauce's from every part of Asia.. Great Store!
Adrian McCallister
Lots of products. Store has gotten bigger through the years which continues to make it better. Most employees speak a little bit of English. Not a good area of town and not a lot of lighting in the parking lot at night.
J “J-chan” D
Awesome place! The buns are amazing and super cheap, and this is the only location I know of for buying a certain brand of coconut milk. The snack isle has plenty of choices as well.
Dragon Alchemy
I really love this market.. The buns are always fresh and amazing! They have a wide selection of stuff that is newly stocked and the market is clean. Will keep shopping here everytime I come down to visit family.
Heather Heisig
This place is so great for finding all sorts of Asian foods. I have found so many new things here that have now become favorites. Great store.
Greg Whitmore
Wow. The selection was amazing and the store was clean and well stocked. The prices for veggies and herbs are really low, much cheaper than a big box stores.
Kristine Angelsnmom
This place is where I get jasmine rice, Filipino canned goods, pancit bihon, seasonings and spices for making sinigang, lumpiang shanghai and sisig. You can also get live tilapia here. There is a wide selection of fish and seafood. Vegetables like bok choy, garlic, sayote and tomatoes are also cheaper here compared to Walmart. This place can be busy on weekends so be prepared for long lines in the counter and also the seafood/meat section. This place is clean and also has a clean restroom.
Fanny Elend
Great Asian food selection and people are friendly. They do pretty good takeaway hot food, even tho their bakery is not great. They also have live seafood, which is the best part.
Maria Ramirez
I like it interesting items... Not bad on the prices... Hot read to eat food. The store carry live sea food. The store also has meat, veggies, fruits ans other items inside.
Sweet Sour
We drive to this location from 2 counties away because it has the biggest selection. Although I wish there was a Super H Mart in the area, this place will do. One critique I have is that the Filipina cashier is so loud and acts tacky. Even with her own customers in front of her, she talks loudly across them and other people in order to have conversations with other Filipinos. You're there to work lady, not socialize. Now pay attention to your own line of customers. I would also say that the place could be cleaner but in comparison to most Asian stores in the area, this store is pretty clean.
kokoreply
Omggg they gave everything in this store. I've been looking for mochi ice cream for long and I finally found them here!! They come with so many flavor to choose (my favorite one is green tea flavor)
Tracey Yarlott
Good selection of all sorts of products, especially fresh product. Very good prices. Staff not overly friendly but were helpful when asked. I will be back.
Connie Seto
Was here May 2022. This is a huge market. They have a lot of Chinese groceries item here .
Jacob
This place is awesome. They've got everything from snacks to alcoholoc beverages to fish to soy sauce to ice cream to cooking utensils. When I think about it it's impressive they have as much stuff as they do in as small a space as they do. Just go here, ok?
Mary Aiken
Awesome Place!! Anything you'd need to make that Special Oriental Dish. Liked the gift section. Parking not the best, limited handicap parking. The homeless people are very pushey an rude!!
DeJaVu BeenHereB4
The fish in the tanks for purchase were mostly dead, and the ones that were alive were "taking their last breaths". Good selection of bottled sauces.
Ryan Geer
Awesome store with some really friendly employees. Great place to practice your Chinese and get some items you might be missing if you spent time in China or Taiwan.
Lovi
Best around northern Tampa area and neighboring towns. I just wish they didn't pack some of their veggies, like the eggplants, sweet potatoes because there could be rotten in the pack. I like to pick my own.
Validationfrom God
I enjoy, this location, they are kind and have many things the Pinellas Park location does not. The ones in Tampa ans Brandon are soo much nicer and kind
Eddie Ooi
Every location is slightly different in products and prices. It has its strength. No hot cooked food items here.
Red Rogan Marshall
Huge selection and great prices! So much more stuff than any other asian grocery in the area, anx they have all sorts of non standard things, like traditional Chinese candies etc
T L
Many options-lots of variety of ramen noodles. My favorite is Little Cook Vegetarian noodle
Customer service-nonexistence
Mr Mumble
Great selection of products from around the world. Lots of sauces and condiments. Large selection of seafood, meats, and produce not available at your local supermarket.
Ethan Brunson
good selection and they require face masks. could do with a bit more labeling for aisles. floors are maked with directions, which *most* people follow.
Tim Poulos
No longer offering hot food, roast duck/pork at this location...don't know if Brandon location still offers these items. Surprised that the hot food line shut down.
B. J. O'Connor
Good, fresh, produce. They have meats and fish, I did not buy any, so can't say..
Kayla T
Amazing variety, great prices! We just moved here from Mississippi and were able to find things that we couldn't find other places in tampa. Clean, and well organized!
Racina
It has pretty much everything you need in an oriental market. They have meats, live crabs, live eels, fish, noodles, vegatables, sauces, candy, cookies, dishes, pots, drinks, and prepared foods, etc.
Lori Goewey
Fresh veggies and lots of choices for all your Asian cooking needs.
Sanjay Kot
I have been searching for Fish Market so long. Finally found good one. You can get Gold/black promphet which is my favrioute plus there are many live fish and crabs. Enjoy
Karen Feng
They have so much food here
Enrique Diaz
Anything Asian is at hand. Prices very competitive. Vegetables always fresh.
Helen
Average market. Several items ring in differently than shelf price, always more than the stated price. Din Ho is a good competitive market for Asian foods.
Michelle Massaro
Merchandise is always great but this store is always freezing!!! I like going there to get the things I need bc they have an amazing selection but the temperature inside is absolutely ridiculously cold!
Chia Wei Chen
Excellent variety of products, a little pricey compared to other Asian supermarkets otherwise not bad at all.
Denis Labadie
Venue clean, isles adequate.. Staff not very friendly w limited English comprehension/use...
Variety is very good to extensive w some products.. Carry every thing from Asian canned foods to live seafood - from cookies, candy, kitchen items, seasonings, fresh oriental veggies to OTC asian medicines...
Pricing is import expected higher - not super Walmart pricing, but extensive venue selection makes up for the diffenence...
I would recommend...
.
Aaron T
Good selection of unusual fruits and vegetables. Live fish and crabs/lobsters. Meats to include chicken and duck feet, cow stomach, beef tendon, etc.
Brian Vasquez
If you've never gone in, you really should. Grab a few things you've never tried before and have fun creating new dishes for you and your family. The smell take a minute to get used to but don't let that detour you.
Karen Hamilton
Love going there for all our hard to find foods and snacks. Live crab and fish. Great place and nice people.
harenpavansai nerella
Great selection of ramen and other authentic products
Elaine Steward
Awesome prices and good selection here. I get as much produce here as I can. Even harder to find things like baby bok choy and lemon grass.
Te SIM
It would help a lot if they had someone for customer care. Meaning that there are a lot of foods that they offer that we are not familiar with and as a customer it would help a great deal if we had someone we could speak to that would translate.
Respectfully
V. B.
MD oriental market is a great plavlce to go for tea, seafood, and any type of Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, or Korean good you may need or want. They carry Kracie brand "Popin Cookin" treats, which if you search online can be very expensive, but here they are a steal.
Joe Hirst
Asian imported food and traditional Asian goods. From Pocky and ramen, to fresh crayfish and mungbeans. Large selection of Asian teas, candy, and general foods.
Welcoming and reasonably priced.
Louise “Miss-Missy” Belcher
Enjoy getting fresh veggies and produce from here, mama noodles are also the best, not much i can say about the help, but everything can be found on your own if you can find the time to walk around a bit, a bit pricey but for food that is imported its not horrible.
De'Neen Lazard
This is the best market in tampa!!! The produce is always fresh plus they have my favorite Korean ramen. I’ll be restocking on my snacks and ramen today 😊😊😊 …
Brian McCoy
Great selection and very peaceful here. Certainly recommend going here.
Rachel
i love it! It feels like I'm in a different world, I love all the different varieties of goodies they have there! All in all you'll have to check it out yourself! If you like anything oriental, this is the place for you
Ellen Ratliff
Great place for Asian products! I definitely find what I want when I go there. It does smell a little funny in there though. Might be the fish...?
Ben B

Sharyn Krogh
Love this store. Our go to stop for Ramen, meat, banana milk
C M
I really enjoyed my time in the store they had everything I need it was clean the people were friendly just be aware that when you step through the doors the odor of fish hit you pretty hard but after 15 minutes you get used to it the prices are really reasonable.
Suiyao Chen (Eric Chen)
the variety is very amazing and price is very low. Great place for shopping Asian style food and items. Some meat or vegetables are not fresh.
Barbara Bush
Clean organized. Just needed a translator. But my granddaughter loves the food and likes to cook so I went with her. Good experience ❤
Jaime Montero
The fish area seems really dirty but other than that, I'm always there for the Kiwi knives and food in simply cannot find anywhere else.
Diane Edwards
Best selection of different Asian foods that you can't get in a regular grocery store.
Eric Jablonski
Crowded. Very crowded. Have all your cooking needs. Wish I had one closer to home.
William Grosbach
This, the Tampa store, and the Brandon store are very similar. Both are pretty impressive Oriental supermarkets. They have Oriental versions of just about everything you'd expect to find in a supermarket.
Toni Russell
Love this place. Get all my oriental seasonings, oils, noodles etc. Clean, well organized.
Mai Yang
Rude cashier. Google states they have hot food/deli, but when we got there there was none. So misleading.
Wai Bowman
Great selection of Asian groceries. Too bad they did away with the BBQ hot food.
Peter Zechner
Many great Asian products. Big negative point is how the keep their live fish in the tanks. So packed that many swam upside down and dying. Might be the Asian way but for me a nogo.
Mark Creamer
Very authentic and real. Interesting array of food items and will definitely return.
Md Mokaddesul Hoque
Some of their products are fresh and cheap like seafood and tofu. But the fruits and vegetables are pricy. Service is not great, folks at cash counter are rude.
Jessi Budiansky
One of my favorite markets in Tampa Bay. Safety precautions are always taken and they have a fantastic selection of basically anything you could need!
Danielle
I gave it 3 stars cause they had what i was looking for! But those dirty fish tank in the back of the store has to be a DOA Violacion. Vegetarian bbq pulled pork/ jackfruit

Good selection of Asian products does not have a lot of things for sushi and they don't have sushi rice mostly for Koreans
Iennal Wang
Good place to get some Asian food, especially those from China. But the price is quite expensive somehow.
Tyler Charles
Best place to get the biggest varieties of Asian cuisine and sundries! But I do love those steamed buns the most.
BenA Benitez
Most of the Asian products are here. The prices are decent. They have fresh seafood and cooked foods too. Lots of parking.
Elaine Richards
I always buy Pompano fish in this store. They don't have the calamansi I needed for cooking today.

Drive all the way from east coast of Florida, and they don’t have the roast duck, duck feet, roast pork like what they use to. I wonder why they don’t have the cooked food.

Asian markets are hard to find in Florida. We visit here from Ocala often to shop. Not a lot of variety that we are used to but better than nothing at all.
John Tulloch
Although some of the fresh seafood looked questionable, they have an immense variety of products from which to choose.
Realtor Veronika Rojas-Matiz
Like any other Chinese place: busy, full of products, not so clean, mangos are cheap in Walmart and same or better quality.
