Reviews of West Seattle Thriftway
I always enjoy shopping at this location. Everything looks so good here. The staff are friendly and helpful too, especially the person in the fromagerie today! Thanks again for your assistance! And they have a great wine selection!
It's not the cheapest grocery store in town but if you want to treat yourself to the real good stuff is come here. Think of it as special occasion grocery shopping.. Pro tip: some of the best fresh roses in town if you need a really nice bouquet.
Absolutely love this store, so homely and it always smells good, fresh produce, good selection of wines, meat & seafood with decent prices. Their bakery is amazing too. Always a delight when we go
Always great meat and produce.
Prices are above most stores, but never have a bad purchase. We do most of our shopping there. Butcher will cut whatever you ask for.
I live about a mile from this store so it's convenient for just grabbing something I forgot but it's a bit more spendy than I like, so I usually make the effort to go a few more miles to Safeway for my weekly shopping. Great friendly people working there and the best deli chicken!!
Excellent Thriftway Store in West Seattle, this is really a nice store inside and I have shopped here many times and have always been happy with the quality. Very friendly folks inside they will help you with anything. The deli in particular is excellent quality food. There's also a Chase Bank location inside.
Always clean stocked, never have to wait in line. Little bit pricey compared to the other stores in the area but much better service.
Great grocery store but don’t let the name fool you. Spendway is more like it.
I really like my visit here. The food is simple and they even have crepes. I like the layout and employees are very helpful.
Another grocery retailer that goes above and beyond the normal quality of the product's they sell. The choices for ice cream are infinite? Enjoy.
This is a handy grocery store that’s packed with items and friendly staff. However just know, it’s the only store in Seattle and makes you pause and realize: you could have saved money by going to PCC.
Friendly staff, all the grocery essentials plus deli, coffee bar, bakery, great produce and a great seasonal gift area.
This grocery store is one of the biggest things I miss about living in west Seattle. No one likes to go to the grocery store but going to thriftway is such a pleasant experience!
Nice and clean store, but don't let the name fool you, the prices are a little too high to be called Thrift.
Wonderful store for groceries. Meat and produce are good quality. You pay more at this store but at the same time it's better quality and service. I would compare this store to a trader Joe's or whole foods. Much better than the average grocery store such as Kroger or Safeway.
John, the new meat manager has transformed the department, new items, better selections, and Upbeat attitude in the department, good job John!
Fantastic deli counter and cheese selections, great produce, and a side of dugong puppets. My kind of place!
For the prices they charge, they could train employees better: on store policies, on helping customers, on updating their website.
With a name like thriftway, I expected some good prices. Instead, the prices weee on par with what I would expect from PCC
Staff are amazing. Lots of local purveyors, organic options. Prices are on the higher side.
Great food and grocery options- just priced a bit above market.
Definitely the #1 grocery store for the Fauntleroy neighborhood and the surrounding area. Great deli selections, a surprisingly well stocked housewares section, all with the charm that being an independent retailer brings.
Great selection, from standard to high end goods. good produce section, big beer and wine selection.
Tight spaces, so not a lot of social distancing.
Checkout reasonably efficient, but express lanes aren't always open and no self check so can get lined up.
Good selection of items, but very expensive. I only come here for one off special items, not regular grocery shopping.
Awesome local grocery with all the things 💗 …
Great customer service.
The store is not a huge one stop shop place.
It is not bargain either.
No long waits in check out.
Very pleasant place to shop. Staff are great people. Well stocked, large and full selection of quality foods, staples, health items and household goods.
Pricey and small but nice selection for specialty foods and drinks
Best EVER store. Debra is a rock star!
Good selection of less common items. Good vegan and gluten free selections. Deli is good. Bakery is ok. Checking out is like playing roulette though. Customer service gamble for sure.
The place is great with plenty of good options, but I do not see the reason why the same products that are available in other stores are 2-3x more expensive? If @Thriftway can explain and back it up I'll change my rating.
But yeah there are few products that are not available in others common stores and I like the think green incentive of compostable recyclable bags, kudos on that!
But the prices man, they should not be that high...
Typically good selection of produce and specialty items. Convenient location and super friendly, helpful staff. Crazy expensive by comparison to other grocery stores in West Seattle.
Great selection of groceries. Lots of local companies and the big name brand products. Loved looking at all the unique treats and labels.
Great produce, meat, beer selections etc. BUT expensive for sure. I’m sure they pay their staff well and I support that.
Me: *buys a bread, couple of beers, cookies, chicken*
Cashier: that will be $80 plus an arm
Me: pays as directed cause it’s the closest grocery store to me and i couldn’t be bothered
Great market and one of my go to places for higher end items. The produce always looks amazing. Jack Mountain chops on the butcher case and we just tried the Neuske's bacon, which filled the house with the aroma of woodsmoke and head a rich, outstanding flavor. They carry a large selection of European butter, freshly baked breads and a great selection of cheese. If you like chocolate, there's a mouth watering amount of the good stuff.
More expensive than other similar stores but it's location makes it unique.
This is a great neighborhood grocery with a multitude of items to make food at home as well as ready to heat/eat items. Lots of housewares too including seasonal items.
They have a great deli to boot.
Best grocery in town IMHO. They treat their staff well and stock great produce, meats and dairy. The deli has great sandwiches and salads. Prices are very reasonable and they keep Western Family products on hand for most of your staples.
Was my go-to store for the past 6 yrs until I recently moved away. The thing I appreciated most was that I never waited in some crazy long line. They're incredibly adept at adjusting checkers for peak moments. I noticed it countless times. It translated to me as great customer service - get customers in and out. Nothing more frustrating that waiting longer in a line to pay, than it took me to shop. I never had that issue here.
The only reason why I didn't give a 5-star is because their prices are literally 20% more expensive that most other local stores (Safeway, QFC, etc).
But it's also locally owned, and they do a lot of nice events for the community, and I wanted to support a locally owned business. But boy, their produce and meats are spendy.
This is a great local grocer with a great staff. Really nice helpful folks seriously. And I go here ALL hours of the day. Too often I’m waltzing in around 11:45 when they close at 12am and they are just as helpful. Some folks say they are a little expensive, I say... 🤷🏾♂️ the service and selection are worth a few pennies more. Nice produce and meat selection.
My favorite grocery store in West Seattle. It's always gone between Thriftway and Metropolitan Market as best in my opinion but the employees at the Thriftway make them scoot ahead as winner 🏆. Always helpful and cordial. The cioppino is the best. I could eat it every day over rice for the rest of my life. …
Don’t let the name or location spook you; it’s a semi higher end grocery store, with a limited but surprising selection.
Great spot for ice cream.
Love this place. Love the quality of food either off the shelf or at their made-to-order grill. Staff are always incredibly friendly and I love their seasonal specials: roasted hatch chilies in the parking lot in summer, cheese specials in the fall, you can’t go wrong.
This was an incredibly clean and well laid out West Seattle Thriftway store I am a loyal Safeway shopper this is one of the nicest sequoias I've been in as of late.
Good store. It has a nice mix of ordinary brand products and gluten free/organic products. They also have a surprisingly excellent selection of kitchen/household products. It's a smallish store, but it's really well organized and I was impressed.
Our go-to grocery store for the best produce, best locally raised organic meats, and best staff. Better than PCC, Whole Foods, etc. Always fun to shop there. And 5% off for seniors on Tuesdays.
Food, ya. totally friendly staff, heck yes! Good food.
Generally good selection on stuff. Sometimes has unique things, deli, meat and hot food departments are well stocked. Also good coffee bar and small Chinese food place inside. Fruit is almost always great. Downside is there slightly more expensive than other stores as they aren't a big chain
I shop there every so often. Their meats and produce are always fresh. Love to cheese sample. Great selection of cheeses. My fav reason to shop there, is, they have Swiss Miss tapioca pudding and the Sara Lee french style strawberry cheesecake I like. 😊 …
Nice, clean store. But, the name thriftway is a little misleading. 5 minutes ago a cashier openly laughed at me with a co-worker for "only" buying 3 green beans, 2 celery sticks, and two potatoes (in front of me) Even poor folks need to buy dinner 😢. honestly, if I didn't live walking distance from the store, I might not return. Embarrassment is real, regardless of quality of food. But the food is good here.
The staff are all warm and friendly. All different types of people and personalities but all wonderful. Many have been there for years (18+ years possibly) so it's nice to see that. They carry lots of locally produced items and sometimes new stuff from all over the world- or at least I've never seen. They even carry the baby formula after I requested it. A really great place to have in the neighborhood. Feels like family.
I was patiently waiting at the bakery for almost 5 minutes, while 4 employees yucked it up, did not acknowledge me whatsoever, then as I stared them down, they look at the ground while walking by me...Finally, a very kind employee who was working very quickly over at the Butcher block, finished helping her customer and rushed over to help me obtain my lemon tart which seemed to be too daunting of a task, prior to her rescuing! She made my 4 dollar treat, a 2 dollar treat to top it off! Thank you Olivia for saving my Thriftway experience, you're the best!
This is a high-end grocery store. So prices are high. The store is beautiful, with an emphasis on local products and long-time employees. The store definitely has a community feel. The building is a great size, with great prepared food, produce and floral departments. If I could afford to shop there more. - I would.
Fantastic neighborhood grocery store. Prices are higher than other nearby stores, but the place is well-stocked and the staff is very friendly. They bring in new products often to spice things up and have fun in-store giveaways/contests. The produce section is top notch. Plus mobile payments gladly accepted, Apple Pay for me.
Nicer Thriftway than most others. Clean and has some cool new items beyond just food and drinks.
One thing is they sell gas gift cards but they told me i can only pay with cash or credit card at checkout (no signs about it by the gift card section though).
Fresh produce and local products as well as the standard staples. They support the community with an assortment of events throughout the year. Always great customer service. Their floral has done an exceptional job on numerous occasions.
Generally good selection, but a lot of the produce seems second rate compared to more reasonably priced grocery stores. Definitely feels like I'm paying a premium just to pay a premium on the cost of goods there, as it doesn't seem significantly nicer than Safeway or QFC.
The West Seattle Thriftway, located south of the Junction, is my go-to stop for a quick bite to eat, groceries and a fine diverse selection of beverages when I'm I'm the neighborhood.. Whether you need a fresh made panini, a beer from a local micro-brewery or a just your run of the mill regular groceries, you can find it all. They also have a great flower selection and carry a variety of quality pans, gadgets, dishes, and seasonal decor for the kitchen and dining room. Useful if you need a gift in a pinch. The staff was pleasant and helpful when I needed help. Worth a visit.
An outstanding store all around. Staff is friendly and helpful. Selection can't be beat, especially in the wine, deli, meat, and candy departments. There is a premium for quality, however. A bit pricey for everyday shopping, but nice for when you're feeling fancy or just need a few things.
Great store with plenty of Covid practices, lots of hand sanitizer, wipes. Wonderful selection of vegan foods and beautiful produce. A little overpriced on some items. Friendly staff and environment. Water dish outside for your doggy or kitty?
Great local vibe, friendly and helpful staff, lots of options, fresh, organic. Produce can be a bit pricey, but good quality. Amazing meat department. Good beer selection. Convenient deli, Chinese, desert/coffee bar, Gift, and floral options.
Quality is top notch! Staff are knowledgeable about how to handle and prepare food. The housewares department is always seasonally changed with nice merchandise for the home.
Courtesy staff is amazing at bagging and taking groceries to the car! Best produce ever! Thriftway is a solid anchor in the Morgan Junction!
This is a family owed business. The store is always clean, stocked and has great displays. The staff there is friendly, always helpful and great just to chat with. Besides food if you need a gift in a hurry they have everything for anyone, cards, gift wrap, gift bags, etc. Its like a one stop shopping store. They have an employee that has been there for over thirty years, his name is Tom and he is worth the trip only. Such a nice man a joy to talk to and I try to make it there before 5pm, because you know, sometimes he just makes my day!
I love this grocery store. I actually find certain prices to be the same as the big places. Things like milk, cheese, vegetables and eggs are actually very comparable. And dried goods and staples such as bread, rice, flour, cereal, cans and such are also not overpriced. They have some other things that you should try to get elsewhere, but as a day to day store you're going to be fine. The meat department is fantastic, and not in a fancy expensive way. The cuts are not extravagant but really high quality. They also have lots of prepared meats, priced reasonably, perfect if you are headed to a BBQ. Beer prices average. They also don't have "killer deals" like you see at Safeway, so don't expect to clip coupons, get gas discounts (or have to use a card).
I like this store. They have great produce, cheeses and a variety of yogurts. A good selection of spices, and gluten free foods. The selection of organic and specialty soaps, etc is awesome. They even have some really good incense.
Love this store but selection of organics is a bit light. Wanted to buy bag of organic russett potatoes...didn't have it. Had to buy in bulk at 1.99 a pound. That is a bit pricey. Had to go Safeway just for that. Otherwise, they have a little of most everything, just not a lot of any one thing. I can usually complete my list here but I might pay a bit more to avoid going to different stores. I just couldn't stomach the price of taters today.
This is a great local store and they have about everything we could ever need. They have all the things you would think an up scale Seattle grocery store would have plus the basic everyday frozen pizzas and everyday stuff. You never know when you need some roman, triple cream brie, hemp milk mocha and dish washing soap. They also open early and close late.
Favorite grocery store, this is! The staff is friendly, and while the selection is not as expansive as Metropolitan Market, the products are quality, better than what you see at safeway, and worth the added cost. When I want basic food, I go to safeway, when I want good food, I go to Thriftway.
I recommend everyone to this store. I feel like a kid in a candy shop when I come here.
It's a really nice store but it's incredibly expensive. I can't believe people shop here regularly and willingly spend 50%-200% more on the same products. I live nearby and I WANT to love it but the prices are just laughable. FWIW I'm referencing NYC/Boston food prices for comparison.
Great shop, prices are higher than other stores, but you know your money is going to the amazing staff.
Good presentation throughout the store. A bit pricey. I don't understand how the packaged cut fruits can be 3 times more expensive than safeway (with the card) and twice as expensive as QFC (with card as well). I hope that it means that their fruit section does not have pesticides and other chemicals. Same with their meat, i hope that the higher prices mean that it is not highly processed food etc. I don't mind paying more if it is good for my health. Please tell me this is the case.
They are not as budget-friendly as QFC, but I appreciate not needing any discount card to get a good deal. All their prices seem fair and you are guaranteed fresh meat and produce. The employees are awesome and I like that they hold different events in front of the store for charities and promoting local businesses.
Pricey! Other than the prices being higher than most grocery stores this is a great place to find hard to find items. This store also carries a very wide assortment of regional foods from here in the Northwest. Speciality foods like cheeses, micro brewery beers, and wines. The place is really cool. I could spend hours wandering through to just check everything out. Ya got to go see this place.
If you are looking for specialty foods, try here. There are many choices of food not offered elsewhere. They have a deli with hot and cold foods.
Great neighborhood grocery with a nice produce selection, quality meat/seafood and an expanded charcuterie and fine cheese section. Very friendly staff as well. Not Whole paycheck level, but some things will be more expensive than QFC and Safeway. The quality makes it worth it though in my opinion.
Monumentally expensive. With so many grocery options, I imagine only the million dollar home owners shop here. I paid about 3 times as much for kale here as TJs. I won't make the same mistake of shopping here again.
Always great/friendly service! Produce is very fresh and the deli selection is excellent. A tad pricey but well worth the extra dollars for IMHO the best grocery store in West Seattle.
Most expensive groceries I've ever enjoyed shopping for. Excellent staff, cleanliness, and service makes it worth the extra cost
Everyone who works here is nice and helpful. I'm always happy with the cleanliness and quality of the store and products. Checkout is usually quick and the cashiers are all kind and fast. And parking is painless! Great store, great people, and great stuff!
This is one of the best grocery stores in the Seattle area. Friendly, fast and personalized service. The deli has a rotating selection of hot and fresh offerings and their salads are fresh and nutritious. Highly recommended!
When I was a kid, Thriftway was just what it sounds like: a local chain of stores where you could go to find cheap, bargain brands and discounts.
Sometime between then and now, they've made a huge transformation.
This Thriftway is an upper-scale establishment filled with gourmet items, and a nice selection of produce, bakery items from local favorites, and let's face it... the prices match the decor. Which is always clean and well lit.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The butcher shop is good. The parking lot is open and clean.
This is definitely one of my favorite local grocery stores.
One of my favorite stores in Seattle
It's a cute little place a ma and pa type of store I'll be going back always friendly workers when I go there
I love this grocery store! I would give it 4.5 stars because some items can be really expensive, but that minor detraction isn't worth it losing whole star. I would imagine the additional expense is what is to be expected considering it is the only grocery store in Morgan Junction. Also, they carry several items (like 12-pacs of La Croix waters, nit just 8-packs) that most other grocery stores don't carry. They also have an excellent selection of conventionally-grown as well as a good selection of organic produce. I still prefer Trader Joe's for many organics but Thriftway has many more LOCAL organics!!
Their customer service is absolutely great and every cashier I have encountered has been very friendly and helpful. I have never had to wait long in line either (like no more an a couple minutes!) because they stay on top of their check-out load. If lines get long they call for more cashiers and/or the Customer Service attendant checks people out too.
Overall a great grocery store and I'm thankful they are so close!
Great people good prices good large selection. Great kitchen and house wares. Excellent hot food grill with breakfast and lunch/dinner cooked to order. Fresh produce excellent variety. Floral section super.
I love this local grocery. Everything is top quality and you can find things you can't find anywhere else. They have the best produce section anywhere.
A good grocery store. Has a Chase Bank branch, coffee counter (Cafe Vita?), and a Chinese food counter.
Checkout terminals support Tap-to-Pay (i.e. Android Pay and Apple Pay). No self-checkout stations, but the cashiers are quick and they always have an express checkout lane running.
Produce selection and quality are both great.
Meat selection is pretty solid. Sea food options are surprisingly/disappointingly limited.
Wine selection seems pretty good. Liquor section seems adequate. Beer selection gets a bit stale, in that they don't seem to acquire too much in the way of new/different choices, but they have all your standard microbrew/craft offerings available in this area.
This Thriftway is even better than ours on Vashon. Well laid out produce. Logical store placement. Very easily accessed deli and espresso. Houseplants and flowers. They also have an incredible selection of Seattle's Chocolate Co. We stop there when we get off the island.
Some things are more expensive but you get what you pay for. I love the neighborhood feeling here; experienced staff are consistently friendly and helpful, it's warm and relaxed and doesn't feel like a chain store. They have good sales and promote local foods. I'm a fan!
My 2nd favorite supermarket? (PCC Community Markets being my favorite, of course) This family-owned grocery store excels in customer service and value. I appreciate that the owner(s) treats employees.very well. I've seen the same faces for decades, and they always seem happy.
Very convenient to our location but expensive compared with Safeway on Roxbury. So if we have more than a few items we will make the cost effective drive to Roxbury St. and we can get gas discounts.😃 …
Great selection of produce and other food. They are more expensive for similar products that would be carried by QFC and Safeway, but that's price discrimination for you. I usually head here for better quality and selection of specialty produce items.
Great selections, well-maintained, family vibe from employees. But expensive. They have some items we use not found elsewhere. Pretty good deli, not enough vegetarian selections.
Ordered flowers for a relative in a nearby hospital. Wonderful, cheerful, gal (Stephanie) helped me over the phone to pick out a nice plant. Then offered to deliver it for free! Family said it was a beautiful plant! What a wonderful service! Plus, saved me so much money, I ordered another for her the next week, and she said it was beautiful as well! Thank you Thriftway!
A very expensive store with a good selection of high quality products (grocery, personal care, kitchen, deli, alcohol, gift, etc)
Wow! Fancy, clean, and with lots of fun items I haven't seen in other stores.
It is all rather pricey though.
We go for hatch green chili every year. Higher end with great foodie selections. Nobody in Tacoma knew what Vin Santo was but I found two kinds here. Just wish they still carried King Kelley Marmalade! Prices a little higher, but you can find what you want and the quality you desire.
Drive across town to go here for the wide range of Uli's sausages for Smoking Saturday. They have great Covid policies, an awesome shopping selection and friendly + helpful staff.
The kind of grocery store where the staff has lived in the neighborhood for a generation or learns you by your first name. The selection is nice, variety of staples and higher end foods and local products. Kind of cherish the fact that there's no self-check out except for when I'm running in for one single thing!
This thriftway is a nice upscale one. Small hot food case, and also a pizza counter, as well as espresso counter. Good wine liquor beer selection. Organic produce and seafood counter. Some ready to cook selections too. Friendly helpful staff. Parking lot can be tight with Vashon commuters shopping enroute home.
Absolutely love this grocery store. Decent prices and decent options. Doesn't have everything we like so we also go to Trader Joe's and QFC. This is a great store for day to day shopping and we do 90% of our grocery shopping here.
Always great service, good produce, and quality meat.
Prices are a bit higher, but they are a local business, so the few extra dollars spent contribute to our community far more than those spent at the national chain stores.
Friendly local place, prices are a bit high but the fruit and vegetables are great quality as is the cuts of meat. Perfect for the single person shopper.
This is store is better than the regular stores. The deli is pretty good when it is open.
Very convenient location. Great prices. Doesn't have the largest selection but they did have everything I was looking for. Everything from bread, fresh produce, dairy and alcohol!
Nice store. New to me, I was just visiting. But it was clean and very eye appealing. Things were arranged well.
Not only is Thriftway a wonderful grocery store, but they also care about their customers. Yesterday, as I parked my car at Thriftway, another customer knocked on my window and said I had a flat tire. Nolan, a young employee, heard what she said and volunteered to put my spare tire on for me. Not only did he help, but the manager and another customer assisted Nolan. It was amazing and I'm grateful for their help!
Everyone here is so helpful and kind. They bend over backwards to help you. Complimentary pads and tampons in the customer restroom are a nice touch. My only complaint is this store is entirely too expensive to shop here in a regular basis.
This is the ALL TIME BEST Thriftway. Miss the ones in Normandy Park and just recently the Boulevard Park one that closed down. The West Seattle store has a little bit of everything. Great produce, outstanding meat department, condiments forever, wine, kitchen items, deli with olive bar, cheese bar, baked goods, found some delicious artisan cookies from a local bakery in Fife, pre made fresh sandwiches, a coffee bar and a small bistro type area where you can sit and have breakfast and lunch and an early dinner. They have 3 handicap spots right in front and a couple others. It's very clean. It's a very BOUGIE place.
Just moved back to this area...very impressed with all the kool items for yr home...& of course the food.👍💕 …
Super clean with a mostly friendly staff. Honestly, the only complaint I have is that it's a bit pricey. .. well, that and I don't always find what I'm wanting. One thing I really like is the selection of small and local businesses that are represented here... ie... full selection of Snoqualmie brand ice cream and Full Tilt ice cream, especially the Full Tilt salted caramel ice cream bars! These guys are out of White Center and don't forget to try Patty's tamales! Straight from Vashon!
Thriftway is a bit on the expensive side, but it's hard to beat their selection of groceries. I always come here when I'm looking for an exotic ingredient, and I nearly always find it. The staff is also awesome at this location!
I love their breakfast sandwiches and their fresh, homemade deli food. The staff are always happy to assist customers and never act as if they are being inconvenienced. My favorite supermarket!
I had not been to this store before. Wish it was in my neighborhood! Well lit with an attractive display of wares, produce & commodities. Plenty of space in the aisles for 2 carts to pass.
Love this grocery store but the prices are just outrageous.
Their bakery, deli and meat department is above and beyond the typical grocery store! Produce and cheese selection is quite often better than much larger stores 🥰 …
Quality from soup to nuts! This is a fantastic grocery store. I wish it was closer to where I live. Yes, overall it's a little pricier than some others, but this is definitely a "you get what you pay for" sort of proposition.
Just bought the 6 pack of the royal cookie quite yummy though pricey.
God I love Thriftway. There's NOTHING THRIFTY about them, not even a little. But their selection is awesome. Their people are knowledgeable and friendly. And you can get cambozale cheese there. Anywhere I can get hard to find cheeses is my new BFF. Really lovely. Thanks! ❤️
Conveniently located at the corners of California and Fauntleroy, West Seattle Thriftway is more upscale than local competitors and is one of the better grocery stores in the area. The store hosts a variety of local and niche products that would delight any foodie. In addition to all the shopping staples, the store also has a nice selection of organic and natural products and specialty gifts, as well as an in-store coffee stand tended by an experienced barista.
Love it despite the high prices. The customer service is excellent, very friendly. They believe in being a part of the community not just making money. They have been expanding recently and have really made it a more elegant setting.
Always a great store. Well stocked, friendly staff, good choices. Pretty good hot bar, too.
If I put down everything I love about this store Google would be jammed!!!! 1. No Store Cards 😁😁😁 2 Cheese samples ( I have learned so much 3. Happy staff some I have known for years! 4. Culinary area 5. Chocolates 6. The good Visa gift card..........many things. Best grocery store in WS! …
This is my favorite store! We've been going here for many decades.
This store is very posh for being named Thriftway but has top notch everything if you're willing (and able) to pay for it. I particularly liked the truffle ham in the deli. Liquor and wine available!
Nice store just expect a 20-40% markup vs Safeway. Beer from refrigerated section was warm by the time I got home, so they don't keep it very cold.
Very clean, wide selection of select food stuffs that you could find in a similar Hagens or Trader Joe's, but at the Safeway price range.
A pricey place to shop believe it or not. But they have one of the best selections of fresh flowers. And the flowers are fairly reasonably priced.
Awesome store with tons of parking. If you need kids balloons this is definitely the place to go!
A great local Thriftway, I hadn't been for a long time and was surprised and excited by the choice of product for sale.
It's a little further away from my home than a couple of other supermarkets, but I think it's worth the extra mile.... I will certainly be shopping here again.
Everytime I go to this West Seattle Thirftway I always get exceptional service! The bakery staff have given my kids cookies and the checkout staff have insisted on taking back my cart while it was raining. I have found myself going out of my way to shop here. Thanks West Seattle Thriftway!
Upscale grocery. They have s great selection more healthy produce organic. Great deli and meats. Check out the Chinese take out No MSG.
Always fresh produce and super helpful staff. Cheese and baked goods are A+
I shop here every week and the employees always seem to enjoy their job. The store is always clean and stocked. My husband brags about the meat department.
I love their deli, and espresso that makes the tasty sandwiches. The carry the more localized organic options as well unlike many other stores.
Thrifway is the best West Seattle grocery store. Prices are higher than other stores but there is never a long wait at checkout and the staff are all amazing!
Friendly staff and good selection. They have good produce, meats, baked goods and wine department. We like that they always support local community projects.
Friendly people and great product. I do feel that their alcohol is about 2x more than what I find at other locations, but I would guess that’s due to them being a private grocer.
Ravi went above and beyond to help me with beans. Beans people! Who does that? Ravi that's who. Five stars all the way....Store rocks too. Just in case you were wonder.
I forgot how much better it is than Safeway. Yeah prices are a little higher but it's worth it.
I only like it because its close to my home and they serve awesome mashed potato with gravy and sushi. Other than that, I don't grocery shop there because they are way too over priced.
Very nice store!
Close to the crib also.
Very clean, organized and great selection.
Looking forward to shopping here frequently!
Really liked it! I would like to see a more extensive bulk section and paper or compostable bulk container options. In general, less plastic would be appreciated.
There is kombucha on tap!!!
I haven’t shopped here recently, but I was on a phone call with a woman here named Patricia about their flyer policy. Give this woman a raise, she was so incredibly kind, understanding, and informative.!!!
Love this spot even more than the Matthews I used to live by years ago. Their deli is awesome.
This is my local grocer. They have a great selection of high quality products. The prices here are a bit higher, but you do get what you pay for.
Great floral selection and the deli has a good selection of ready food. The espresso was quick and delicious, too.
this store is alway a pleasure to be at. it'd probably one of the cleanest grocery stores and we'll stocked with all kinds of good food & fresh produce. friendly staff too.
5 star ..... no 6 ☆☆☆☆☆☆.
Fine store, great produce including organic, and v.g. deli & bakery. Engaging staff too. Not thrifty price wise though.
I go there for Umbria coffee, but always find other good things too.
Good organic selections of vegetables and fruits, clean grocery store in West Seattle. Like all Seattle stores they charge for bags so bring your own bags.
Thriftway is a fabulous, locally-owned, family run grocery store with amazing deli, gourmet cheese, and housewares section full of fun finds!
It seems that no particular store in West Seattle provides the ultimate shopping experience, but WS Thiftway is up there. The staff are great and I know the owners pride themselves on paying a living wage so I don't mind the slightly higher than average prices. Selection is good and I'm more likely than anywhere else in WS to get everything on my list. The recent refresh of the deli is starting to turn the place around. One star taken off for the 'experiential' part of shopping here: it's an old school only-windows-in-front fluorescent light sort of place.
Thriftway, supports local growers and merchants. Quality of products sold are above excellent. More expensive. But supports local communities. Employees are from the community that they serve.
Excellent selection with somewhat higher-than-normal prices.
Good food choices and friendly people, but MASK UP or else Karen will shout at you. Come on West Seattle.
PRETTY EXPENSIVE FOR LIMITED INCOME PEOPLE BUT LOVE THE STORE. THE PEOPLE ARE GREAT WHO WORK THERE. VERY HELPFUL.
Good if you want to pay $10 for a sandwich. Boujee to the max
Ah I love this store, they have so much variety! Lots of fun kitchen stuff and hand crafted soaps, very cool.
Very good veggies, fancy cheeses, and decent selection of other things.
I like the friendly staff there they're very nice and kind to me prices are bit high what can you say nowadays everything's up in the air higher than usual but it's close to me and I'll go back
Love this grocery store. They have everything I need and are quite helpful. The deli counter is noticably more helpful than many other grocers I have been to.
The seafood selection is what brings me back to this Thriftway. Best quality fresh wild caught selections I've seen in the area. It's not a huge selection just excellent quality.
love their deli for delicious prepared food and they have excellent produce. I usually come here when I want high quality ingredients.
They have the Badger Balm that I have been looking for for ages! Everything else seems to cost a small fortune, and there are some great things in the store. Out of my price range, sigh.
Not thrifty, but well-organized and incredibly serviced. The employees here are excellent!
A hidden undiscovered gem of a grocery store in the seattle metro area with a fantastic breakfast station furnished with 50 cent pieces of bacon and sausage as well as biscuits and gravy and breakfast burritos ... at first i thought the coffee station was starbucks but isnt and is stocked with a variety grab-go sandwiches and edibles and surrounded by sweets and soups ... i was pleasantly suprised to see a posting of herbs and vitamins that i had never heard of, on the restroom wall ..
You have to wear a face mask when entering the sign says but besides that the workers are nice the store is clean and arrows on the floor to tell you what way to go.
I dunno people who is grocery King of west Seattle Metropolitan Market OR Thriftway they are battling like the lighting fish that created the Sol Duc and Olympic Hott springs according to the NATIVE AMERICAN LEGEND but honestly I'll leave it to you to decide. Hey they sell fresh shark and swordfish at Thriftway But Metropolitan Deli is killer.
They have a great variety of products but it is always way overpriced and you will pay pretty much double for everything that you would pay elsewhere
Fantastic meat, produce and bakery selection. Top notch grocery and more store.
The West Seattle Thirftway is the best grocery store. With good staff, produce, wine and cheese. A lot great products that are hard to find elsewhere.
Lots of different brands of uncommon foods you can't get in larger grocery stores , which is great. Prices are bit higher also
Great grocery store with a very friendly staff. The Morgan ST Grill has great food too!
They seem to have a lot organic foods, their bakery is AMAZING! They carry a lot of the same quality things as Metropolitan Market!
Great staff but no one was enforcing mask requirement and there were 4 customers without them. Why have the policy if it's not enforced!?
West Seattle's best grocery store! Friendly and helpful service, fantastic and fresh selection throughout with reasonable prices; plenty of parking too!
Love it! Nice looking and tasting organic produce. Please stock more organic blueberries, raspberries snd strawberries. Yum, yum and YUM.
I like this place some of the employees are really nice others are very snooty and rude but otherwise it's a pretty good store very great produce lots of Niche items
Nice grocery store. Prices are a little high but its a 2 minute walk from my apartment so the convenience cant be beat.
Great gourmet food selection, very good produce, Boar's Head deli meats, good international and local cheeses, great service. Fun events too
Yes, prices are higher than Safeway, but the fruit and proteins are also of a much higher quality. Staff is great.
Yummy specialty items, and THANK YOU THRIFTWAY for having complimentary feminine hygiene products in the women's crapper. A really nice touch.
They have awesome cheese!!!!! Their cheese team (cheese monger's) are as well. You sould visit just for that, everything else will be a nice surprise after.
I saw this one just whaling away on one of your employees, way more entertaining than WWE, good show
Most businesses have forgot what customer service is but Thriftway hasn't. They are #1 when it comes to that. Alot of these other businesses need to take notes and apply what they learned.
Their price is a little too much but other than that it is a very good place for a grocery shopping.
Excellent friendly staff, good quality well stocked organic produce and aisles. Although nothing ever seems to go on sale like at other supermarkets.
Don't forget your wallet
This store has the friendliest staff around, and their deli makes great sandwiches. I like the focus on local products.
Love shopping at Thriftway. Easy to find what you want, helpful staff, and short checkout lines. Prices are a little on the high side, so they lose a star for that.
Just simply a fun place to find groceries. Polite staff and polite customers. A likely place to see a face you know or will soon know better.
Great store. A little pricy, but top shelf groceries and specialty items.
It was great! I found Better Life product there. Most of the time I have to go to Bed Bath and Beyond or Amazon. 👍 …
Excellent flow with parkimg help fir the busiest day of the year. In and out in record time. Excellent staff with so much joy
It is amazing and clean place as well quality food. I like to shop at Thrift Way because you find quality food.
Exceptionally nice staff, very high quality meats and cheeses, good but expensive veggies and fruit, good selection of gluten free items.
Good customer service, high quality produce. Products available in all price ranges.
Wow! Incredible food selections. Shopped there while visiting daughter in Seattle.
Register froze in my line with customer in front of me. Mgr in charge helped me move to another line and gave me a bouquet of flowers for my trouble
Very expensive. But they do have some samples while you shop. Their bakery has lots too. Someone helped me out to my car (even though I said, "no thank you").
Great quality and selection across the categories I frequently shop for - produce, coffee, beer, wine - at sometimes ridiculous prices.
Great people I have nice of people the most friendliest people I've ever known and specially my friend Annie she's always so cheerful and so helpful such a happy person
A great store to shop at not too many lines and they stand six feet apart
Everytime I go there it's a new experience and yet so positive and alive. People are always friendly and helpful 🙄 …
Always find an extre treat. Love the pastries and cheese section. Oftentimes I will stop by to grab a quick lunch
Higher end grocery's some good stuff here, meat is much better quality than Safeway or QFC.

Excellent selection, friendly knowledgeable staff. Good selection of local produce, meats, cheese, liquor, and wine.
This is one of my favorite grocery stores of all time! They have the best selection of EVERYTHING!!
Very nice store. Everyone was required to wear masks. Thank you!
Great selection of foods, friendly service
Always a clean store with quality produce and meats. Fair prices and friendly people.
I love that I can buy just one stalk of celery if that's what I need, something for everyone!
Nice people, great store! A little bit on the high-end $ side for groceries, though $$!!!
Good selection of fresh and organic products.... One of my favorite places to do some shopping
Was pleasantly surprised by the amount of local and quality products. Was not what we expected at all.
They always have a nice selection of local products.
High quality store. It is expensive, but worth it if you can afford. Very high quality meats.
Great store but their prices are higher than most other stores in West Seattle.
This is a great store and often is our first stop coming off Vashon and our last before heading to the ferry.
Nice grocery store. Thy have a nice selection. Some things can be a little pricey.
Nice store great produce but very expensive
I love this store and always make a trip here when visiting my folks. I wish there was one in my neighborhood!
The store is clean, has plenty of parking, and has friendly staff. The coffee bar serves a pretty good americano.
Little pricey but very nice
Nice place, great produce
I love shopping here. Great customer service with nice people.
Not the most cheapest place in town or all that great of customer service but the quality of the products is excellent speaking most of the meat department
Always find what we're looking for -- plus unique items not typically carried at the larger chains.
Employees are always friendly. One of the few local grocery stores that do not allow pets.
OK produce, meh coffee stand, pretty good deli, great fancy toiletries section
Hatch Green Chile! And So many cool gift items!
Odd prices and organization of products. Parking lot is a nightmare. Has good customer service and friendly employees.
Excellent donuts! Many community events held by the store are appreciated by the clientele.
Many variety good stuff with a bit higher price but high quality smaller quantity. Long service hour.

Great store. Love the little drug store and kitchen shop.
My first time here, really impressed with the variety of things I like to buy in one place.
They DO sell cigarettes here! American spirits the teal kind was the ones I got. They were pricy...$11.99....
Nice store but pretty spendy. I'm used to shopping at WinCo.
Expensive but you get what you pay for, great service from employees, clean, and XL isles. Good stuff, just too expensive for me.
Good produce selection and they bake some mean cookies in the bakery!
Very clean and organized great employee's very helpful.
Overall excellent experience
I love this store. Great selection and great prices.
If the Admiral district isn't convenient for you to shop then this store, in the Gatewood neighborhood is your Best option.
Love this store! I can always find what I want. Great produce!
Way nicer than the name 'Thriftway' would infer. Unique selection of products and owned locally!
Stopped here to get some groceries; didn't really interact with the staff much, but the place seemed tidy and clean. Would visit again!
Clean and great selections! Wholefoods pricing:)
Great store with very friendly staff, a little on the pricey side though.

Great selection in produce - very nice store.
Kinda pricey, but great selection for hard to find stuff and the staff is great
This has to be the friendliest grocer in West Seattle. I always go here for hard to find items. They always have what I need.
Groceries are decently priced and the staff is good. Walking distance to most things.
One of my favorite grocery stores. I stop here every time I'm in West Seattle.
The Chinese food counter seems a bit unsanitary, as I have on 2 occasion s seen the staff eat food as they were replenishing the food into the hot trays.
Nice place. Not like the saccharine shopping experience of Safeway.
Best grocery store in Seattle. The deli food is delicious and not expensive.
A bit pricey but great food quality and selection.
