Reviews of Uwajimaya Seattle

AN ABSOLUTE MUST GO!!! 🍣🍶🍜
This market is amazing!!! I could have spent hours just walking around and looking at all the unique Asian products. They have an incredible selection of drinks, snacks, and other goodies.
There is also a mini food court with Thai, Chinese, and Hawaiian fare. The entire store was clean, well-stocked, and well-lit.
When I go back to Seattle for a visit, I will definitely be coming back to Uwajimaya.
Danny Tram
This market is one of the best Japanese markets in Seattle. There are only three locations of this market branch across WA. They provide diversified items from food, deli, household, and kitchen items; you can name it. There are many food courts located at the other entrance. There is a Chase branch inside as well. I love coming here not only to buy grocery things but also to satisfy my eye experiences and enjoy the crowding vibe. I highly recommend this place to anyone

Uwajimaya is the pinnacle of Asian grocery stores. I rank this chain above H Mart. This store has been around for decades and the store has been renovated since I was last here many years ago. Still clean with amazing produce, incredibly fresh seafood, a broad array of Asian grocery items, bakery items and they now are in the midst of completing their in store food court. Just love this store and wish I lived close enough to shop here regularly.
Bethany LkyLdyLA
Words cannot describe how amazing this market is. The food court area is on point. They have the most amazing seafood selection! It’s definitely a huge store to take in all at once. I highly suggest you take the kiddos and engage in a family grocery outing to one of the top grocery stores in America.

LOVE this store! So much more than just a grocery store. Love buying the foods from Hawaii, and my Asian favorites…reminds me of my childhood. Produce, meats & seafood always fresh. Too many options in the deli area! SO DELICIOUS! 😋 …
Vivian K
Uwajimaya has a great selection of... well, everything! Cookware, dishware, grocery and pantry items, but the most impressive is their selection of prepackaged foods! I love the spam musubi, fresh sushi, unagi rice balls, and I especially love the duck they sell right near the food court! The duck has crispy skin, but still has a layer of fat between the skin and the meat but I don't mind it. The items can get pricey, but I'd say they're usually worth it.
Irish De Marco
Got what I need for the most part.
Huge Asian store selections love it.
Weird customers.
Great security! They have Royce Nama Chocolate
InvaderMe0w
Great selection of imported groceries and goods. I love coming here for my collectable anime drinks. They also have the best roasted ducks you can buy whole. I also really enjoy the different food counters and the book store!
Tom Wilson
This is an Asian focused supermarket. I mostly go there to buy sushi. Sushi is good quality and good price. Large sushi plate is only 15 USD. There are also several food options.
Janet Beaver
They have 100 different kinds of things that you can't get in other stores. I am from Florida and when I come I spend hours just looking at all the different things. I love this place. Come to Florida!!!
Pam Hawk
So much of everything I need or look for to make my asian dishes and MORE. Very friendly helpful staff. High quality, fresh, clean store and items. Sadly inventory was low (as everywhere) during Covid pickup only. But I had gone in the past and need to go again to restock my pantry. I miss seeing and buying the cooked or prepared items too. Best! Market around in Washington. I need to try other locations I did not know existed.
Oil Chou
Huge, clean and has lot of Asian stuff. I like the fresh food & cooked food section.
Sashimi selections are great. I bought some and cut them myself. Otoro was quite chewy though.
BBQ & roasted pork with rice is huge for just $12.
Ben A (Halfmexicanallfiesta)
Great oriental market in downtown Seattle. Pretty much the only big grocery store near the stadiums. A wide selection of food and cook wear you'll find what your looking for. Theres also a food court and a book store as well! Very cool!
Y T
So many things to buy! A lot more bigger than the one in Bellevue. Love their kitchenware section. The bookstore (Kinokuniya Seattle) there has a lot of Japanese and Mandarin comics and novel.
Gabriel Traylor
Without a doubt, the best grocery store downtown. Just about all your needs are covered, plus the dining available in back. Plus, parking validation is available at an hour for $10 spent and 2 hours for $20, which should be more than enough time for most anyone. The closest I can come to a complaint is that the markup on snacks is hefty, and at that point you really are paying double price (if not more!) for just "this is imported". I'm not saying they're cheap for the store to get and you're being bilked (I honestly have no idea) just that either way, they're higher priced than domestic equivalents. Still, who doesn't love trying something new? Love this place.
Tom Thompson
I love going to this place, mainly for the bookstore that is located here, but for food stuffs from Asia - you will not find a better spot. The bookstore, though, well…that is a small piece of heaven on earth. Aside from books they also sell notebooks with excellent paper, a wide selection of writing instruments, and fountain pens along with ink. It is a rare thing to find a physical location with fountain pens, so if that is a thing you like, go check this place out.
Parking is paid, but purchases will get your parking validated.
Aki_hei
Very clean and the products are on a great price. Some items that I bought from Amazon are actually cheaper at the store. This is my favorite place to shop if I'm looking for Japanese and Korean items
Kate S
I found my Spam musubi! So tasty. Then I just wandered up and down the aisles looking at stuff. Nice selection of take out foods. Bathroom in the adjacent food court.
drfrootloopz
This place has amazing selection and a fun atmosphere. People come here from all over the state and all over the world to buy food and groceries that you can’t find anywhere else. Highly recommend. Only down side, prices are a little high; however, you can find a lot of great bargains if you look.
Melissa
AMAZING selection of imported foods and items. I always find everything I need here to cook my Asian meals. My favorite part about this store is that they carry vegetables like string beans, bitter melon, winter melon, lotus root, etc, that are rare in regular grocery stores here. Highly recommend this store, wish I could give more stars!
Jean
I absolutely love this store. Was here for hours. They have everything you need. So many great vegan options. My favorite go to store in Seattle. Also the fruits/ vegetables are fresh and delicious.
Pan Tami
Love the varieties of food products & choices, location is convenient to everywhere in Chinatown!!
Nucha Isarowong
3 visits, 2 outstanding experience and love the oyster selection. Our last visit today, we order 2 dozen oysters and the service was prompt and friendly, but we ended up with only 22 oysters that were pretty varied in size, different from our other 2 visits. Disappointed. 😕 …
Farah Roda
I love this store. My favorite thing to get is ginger honey crystal tea, the tai tea, the creamy coffee mixes. And my favored red bean paste japanese pancakes. Headed to the store right now to restock
Alex Wolf
Our favorite grocery store. Wonderful selection of Asian goods (mostly Chinese and Japanese), great veggies, great meat. They also validate parking for up to 2 hours.
Bailee McDaniels
I love love love this store, amazing selection and quality. However, I was very disappointed with cashier George today. He had an attitude and was not gentle with our food and was aggressively pushing it towards me as I bagged my groceries with my own bag. He was not nice about handing me the receipt either. 🫠 Not cool dude. 👎 …

It's like we have our store back! Thank you Uwajimaya for partnering with Iron and Oak Security. The store felt much calmer with their presence. The only folks I saw were actual customers, not loiterers or shoplifters. I've been shopping here since childhood and was dismayed at the shoplifting and transient problems you faced recently. I feel much safer returning to Uwajimaya going forward. Thank you!!!
Calvin Hsieh
After they renovated, it’s the best Japanese market in the greater Seattle area!
I’d definitely go to Uwajimaya for the great quality of fresh produce and meat among with many other products they carry.
KChin
Amazing store! I wish we had one in Hawaii too! They carry sooooo much stuff and soooo much Asian variety goods! I feel like a kid in a candy store and I keep visiting whenever I'm in Seattle!
Brianna Belew
Fantastic selection of international (mostly east asian) groceries, household things, and other novelties. Best international liquor section I've seen in a while, and the deli food was really good!
NANCY NGUYEN
Oriental market. Nice, clean, organized, huge sections to shop at. Was not hungry but they do have food hall (Thai, Hawaiian,Vietnsmese, Japanese, Chinese...) where you can order hot cook meals, they even have a poke court. Prices are reasonable and they are open. The market itself is still remodeling but definitely worth coming in.
Quintin Coppola
So much to choose from! The variety of fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, and prepared goods is spectacular. I always love walking into a store filled with new items to try. The seafood selection looks fantastic, especially the live seafood section. There is also a food court and a generous selection of household goods (rice cookers, teapots, bowls, etc).
Michelly Calzadilla
In this Asian market you can find Asian food of all kinds, meats, vegetables, processed, candy, Etc . Also beauty products: makeup and creams, household products: pots and dishes. Outside the market there are different small restaurants, there are some very famous donuts but you have to make a long line to buy.
Karl Johnson
Asian grocery, good place to get the harder to find ingredients. Multiple aisles of snacks and candy. Parking complimentary with shopping, min purchase amounts apply. Some of the sauces you'd find in your local grocery seem fresher here, maybe higher volume.
Anthony Davis
Despite the climate of the exterior neighborhood decline this family owned chains flagship store still shines bright. FOODCOURT IS CLEAN WITH DELICIOUS OFFERINGS!
Ivy Chan
Big supermarket with Japanese food and goods. But things r pricy, sashimi is good. However Sushi doesn’t look good. Will not go again …
L G
I do not live in Seattle but pass thru / stay every few weeks. Uwajimaya is honestly one of our first stops. Our favourite hotel or Airbnb's have small kitchens and we take advantage of the 60,000 ft² (entire city block) Asian/standard food market. Variety I've only experienced in Japan and Korea. The remodel is nearly finished (Sept 2020) and I'm impressed!!
Helen Ell Tran
Big store with great selections. I also like the Korean restaurant in the food court and the bakery diagonal from the store. They have more selection than the bakery inside the food court. The meat prices are way more than other Asian markets but the quality is good. There is also the Kinokuniya bookstore that has a great selection of stationery supplies. They also have a cute kitchenware store inside.
Roger Faustino
Uwajimaya... This store is an important piece of Seattle's history. More specific to Seattle's Chinatown history. You can find most of your ingredients for nearly all types of ethnic foods.
They have food from representing all parts of Asia from Chinese and Japanese to Indian, Filipino, and everything in between.
Pros: fresh produce, great butcher section, knowledgeable fish mongers, and fresh fish arriving daily. Parking is validated with minimum purchase. Oh the snack aisle is. Insane! Most importantly they have such an awesome staff.
Cons: items can be pretty pricey. They off set this by weekly ads. However the ads may not contain items you really need (that can be said about most grocery store ads)
Look for their ads and go early to find yourself some goodies.
Rey Mendez
I like Uwajimaya for certain things, but for the most part, it seems to be an overpriced version of HMart. Much of the same merch, some specialty Japanese stuff, which is quite nice (HomeGoods) and of course, seafood. The seafood here is indeed top notch. But don't let my 3 star rating fool you. I travel a long way (2hrs+ each way) looking for particular items. When I find they don't have the item, I am indeed disappointed. I try and make the trip worthwhile, but sometimes it's just 5 or 7 heads of garlic and some sesame oil just to get the parking ticket validated.
My 3 star rating is only because at times they don't have the items I'm looking for. On my return, I try 99Ranch and HMart and hope for the best.
Try Uwaj yourself. You'll likely have a better experience than I have had.
Oh, and the food in the kiosks/stalls/whatever is great!
Stephen Long
It's a somewhat ethnic grocery store in Seattle. You have to pay to park, but they validate of your park in their lot. The selection and prices are kind of hit and miss. I prefer Safeway or Fred Meyer for price and selection of everyday items.
Ryan Chiang
The best Asian grocery market around. It is not an organized affair and a little of a free for all, but to be expected. They aren't trying to be whole foods. There is good restaurants, take out, and all of the Asian items that you want, a long with the standard fare. Parking is good, and the prices are listed in my photo. Usually it is very busy.
Drew J
This place is incredible! It is worth a visit! We were in town visiting Seattle for the first time and we spent a bunch of time walking around and checking stuff out. Great souvenirs and unusual food we don't see in the states. Best of all it was free to look like a tourist!
Ed Lewis
Legitimately the best Asian Market I’ve seen outside Japan and probably the cleanest grocery store bar none. Variety variety variety. Find the things you can't get elsewhere and the staff is great.
Lily Dang
Their food court is the best. Plenty of little restaurants of all Asian varieties to pick from. Stopped here on a whim because I saw they sold mochi donuts at Dochi. Amazingly delicious! I ordered a half dozen and ate them all within the day. Grocery store itself has a variety of food and skin care items. Plenty of things to look at.
Brian Williams
Best Asian grocery store I’ve been to. The sushi and prepared food is delicious and reasonably priced.
Emma Castillo
A cool place in the International District. You can find awesome and rare asiatic products. I enjoyed de sushi a lot! It’s not cheap to shop there
Melody Welsh
Awesome place! Lots of fun places to get food and other snacks. Great selection of sake! The biggest one Ive seen in a grocery store in the U.S.
You do need to buy something to get a code to use the restroom.
Andy Pun
Such a good place to wander, lots of varieties, price is a bit higher but you could find many items not available in other supermarkets.
Jason Lee
This is my local grocery store. I love having Uwajimaya so close to me. It makes weekend grocery shopping feel special.
Lisa X
No.1 supermarket in Seattle IMO, sashimi are very fresh and had high quality, also whole place is very clean and pleasant!
PETER
Fricking huge grocery store! They have so much stuff and delicious food here, you can literally spend over an hour in this store! They even have fresh tuna you can buy! Crazy!
Francis Ge
This is like my favorite place. I want to eat EVERYTHING. They have so much variety and seasonal items. Come here, you won’t regret it.
Derek Dunaway
This place had everything Asian. Wide selection of products from China to Japan and more. Nice open space with beautiful modern design. Complete with restaurants and a bookstore.
Benja
What’s not to like. Good prices. Great quality. Huge selection of sashimi grade fish and uncommon veggies, spices, sauces, etc.
Life With Us
This is the largest of all Uwajimaya locations. It is right across the street from Daiso (be sure to check them out too).
Inside Uwajimaya is the Kinokuniya bookstore, and several restaurants. Be sure to carve out 2-3 hours here. And do not forget to validate your parking! That mistake cost me $15 for an hour and a half. If you spend $10 you get 1 hot free, $20 for 2hr and so on.
Mariko Nicoletti
most of you must know its one of great asian grocery store. chase bank, eye glasses, book store, food court, restaurants, ets huge shopping building.
Tres sandwhiches, yumyum. the strawberry cream, katsu, SUPER TASTY.
The parking situation, there is a parking structure(enough space n can go B1) n two entrances, but only one exit.
there is Daiso Japan across the street, too.
Elaine Lee
Great place with a wide variety of items. Came for snacks and wasn’t disappointed. I want to try their food court next time.
Daniel Cao
This place is huge with large variety of food and drinks. Not only a grocery store but great place to grab gifts. They have a legit sashimi section where I grabbed about 3 plates of raw goodness for lunch and ate in the food court.
Brandon Garcia
A really nice, well stocked grocery store of various Asian cuisine and foods. Prices are fair and there is a large selection of items. I purchased a fe w beverages and snacks from here.
On your way out, there’s a prepared food section. I ordered a mini combo and that filled me up, it was really good. So if you have the time and if you’re hungry after grocery shopping, the prepared food section is worth a stop!
Patrick Harry
Cool spot! Loved the food court and different options. The selection for groceries was great! Don’t know if it is always that crowded on Saturday, but it was a madhouse. So many people, the checkout lanes were a bit chaotic.
Would come back, just not on a saturday
nikki ganata
Love this place! You can get pretty much anything. From produce to seafood, snacks, cooked food and household items and beauty products from asia. There's no coming here and coming out empty handed and belly full!
Meow Cute
Cute but some products (drinks!) are way too expensive comparing to other Asian stores in NA
Polyanna Marcos
Amazing Asian grocery store and food stop. Didn’t want to leave. Also wanted to buy everything to bring back home with me
Shad Sharma
Uwajimaya is an Asian grocery store specializing in Japanese food. Great selection of high quality meats, especially for hotpot. There's also a nice bookstore attached that sells all kinds of nice books from Japan.
K.D.F. 1974
Just a three minute walk down to the hostel I'm staying at. There is a food court area and a vast selection of Asian food products. Very useful when you need a quick bite to eat whether you want to dine inside or you want to grab an item or two to take back to your hotel room. Saw quite a few snacks in Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, etc. There is also a Japanese book store as well. I definitely have to stop by again whenever I come back to Seattle.
rossauce12
Tons of Asian food and gifts. It is like a Wal-Mart super center of Asian items. Also the food looked amazing I wish I had more time to stay! I will definitely be going back when I return.
Alan Teo
Amazing selection of Asian groceries and in particular Japanese groceries. A place to go to if you intend to do a one stop shop for most of your Asia groceries.
Carlos Scogliera
Great place after the long confusing remodel. Store looks great and the self checkout helps a ton
Michelle N
Coming from Phoenix, AZ I was blown away by the number of options and quality of items available at Uwajimaya. It's a huge asian supermarket with little shops and a food court attached. Definitely must visit if you are looking for asian ingredients, produce, drinks, or desserts. Kobe and wagyu beef are sold here!! They also have large tanks full of fresh and live seafood.
Perry Low
Asian cuisine supplies store .. including groceries, gifts, books, and kitchen wares;
The newly remodeled store has reopened with an even BROADER selection of products than before - cleaner and better quality - or at least the shelves & displays are significantly more appealing and SO ATTRACTIVE that you are COMPELLED TO have some!
There’s a broad cross-cultural variety (East Asian, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, etc) of foods, and I was please that I could find the quirky selection of groceries that I needed.
And after grocery shopping, in case you are not in the mood to cook, on your way out, there’s the deli & prepared takeaway foods, in addition to the food court - for your convenience.
J
Very nice variety and quality. However very pricy. On the level of whole foods. I'd you're willing to shop around you may be able to find similar products elsewhere for more reasonable prices.
Yizu Lulu Yeh
This is the largest of the Uwajimaya stores lots of interesting nearby retail stores. The Elleno yogurt shiseido cosmetics, the gift shop and a great food court. Validated parking for a purchase of $20(?). I love Kinokuniya the bookstore too. Everything blends in. Plus a great food court. Bravo!
Rider Forseth
Uwajimayas is awesome. They have the best selection of Asian groceries, from dagashi to live seafood. On top of that there prices are great. They also have a food court, I recommend the pork humbows. Another convenient thing is they have a section for Asian kitchen utensils and dishes. And last of all there is a giant book store.
Laura Neumann
Excellent grocery store with products you won't find everywhere else and the basics. Also has little Japanese bookstore inside and a substantial selection of household items.
My biggest complaint is that the store is usually pretty crowded. I try to avoid weekends esp.
pinoyboi1
Uwajimaya has amazing products to choose from like to chips and drinks and snacks to food in the food court and bookstore that people who are visiting should check out that got amazing things you must check and look around wonderful toys mangas and anime products there!
Potjamarn Arpornratn (Yui)
I like to go to Uwajimaya whenever I have free time. We love to see varieties of food and goodies at the store (as well as take out food at the food court) I wish everything will be back to normal soon. Glad to see food in the food court today even if only partial menu. 🙂 …
Mary G
Great place to bring 'out of towners'. In this case, new daughter-in-law from Okinawa! Her husband happy to impress Seattle on her, he wants her to love us too!
Lost a star since I really wanted to show other 'goeducks'- where did they go?
Great improvements tho.
Richie Magpayo
I love shopping at Uwajimaya for all things Asian. I discovered Sun Noodle TanTan Ramen noodles (2 servings/package for $5.49) one time while browsing their frozen dimsum aisle and now I 'make' my own hot ramen at home (topped with dried seaweed garnish - available at the store too).
Then there's the instant type spicy fried noodle Mi Goreng from Indonesia that is very bad for your health but so good as a 'what the heck!' comfort food on cold rainy evenings.
And I love, love all the Japanese snacks and chocolates at the store. It's like Christmas morning for me anytime I discover a new snack treat to try at Uwajimaya.
Sharon Powers
I would expect a wide variety from which to select in Oriental food. I saw Hawaiian, Thai. Japanese, Korean, and Chinese booths; Each person in our group, chose something different. We all agreed, the food was good. Better than mall food in California.
While we were at the "village," I never needed to use the ladies room. So I didn't seek one out. I cannot, therefore, tell you about it. Also, the whole place was very noisy--sorry, I don't know the decibels--and busy. Not recommended for a date.
Advantages: Catching a quick bite, here, will enable you to go to shop at any desired store associated with the company. Also, the wonderful book store/import store is next door, as is a general shopping center. How can you lose?
Mishmash 215
Nice place to go for a walk and then buy a bunch of food and water and a little bit of a lot better than I thought it would be. Thanks so much for all your help and support I have made the payment of them are in the middle of the night and I have been working in a bit to see if we could get a room at the hotel.
Vincent Rowland
I always love visiting Uwajimaya. I will note it is the only place I know of that charges a fee for a bag when paying with EBT food benefits. As I was using the self checkout and had to pay with a card I was very thankful I had 17 cents in cash benefits on my EBT card which I had to swipe twice; once for my purchase and once for a 17 cent bag.
Jordan Siskind-Weiss
Uwajimaya is my favorite store in Seattle! They have a wide variety of Japanese foods and sweets. I love the noodle and furikake aisles due to the seemingly endless options. They also carry the best frozen dumplings I’ve ever had..I stock up on them every time I shop. I’m always impressed with how reasonably priced the fresh produce is as well.
Matthew C
Really cool Japanese market. Prices are slightly higher for some items, but overall they have an amazing selection. And Hawaiian style poke!
Samtsung Cohen
Uwajimaya should really be a 5 star place. Massive and unique selection, well laid out, truly a gem. I've been coming here for over 20 years.
Lately though some of their price hikes border on the absurd. A 10 minute walk away, you can find many of their items selling at Lams for literally half the price.
The real kicker is the security. Over the past few months they've hired a ton of security guards, who patrol the store a dozen at a time. Can't walk through the store without being surveilled by suspicious eyes from every direction.
I'm sure there are plenty of shoplifters, but I'm trying to buy groceries not enter fort knox. Bring back the big guys that pretended they were shopping, and defund the micro police state.
Pterodactyl Treason
Omg, the candy!!! The produce is always a fun treat. The selection is insane. Free parking for an hour if you spend more then 10. 2hrs if you spend more then 20.
Manny Tavares
Best ethnic market to shop, excellent staff, good places to eat and a fantastic bookstore attached. Love this place, been a regular since early 2000.
Karen Zellers
I spent the summer in Japan, so naturally I sought out the first Asian grocery store I could find. Fortunately, Uwajimaya is a good one.
The good: Uwajimaya has tons of variety, offering everything from packaged snacks to deli items. I was excited to find a large variety of Kit Kats and other candy that I thought was only available in Japan. There's also a Kinokuniya bookstore inside, which has a large variety of Japanese books and character merchandise.
The bad: Though there's a food court, it's a bit of a missed opportunity. All of the eateries inside had bad reviews, so I ended up just getting some chow mein and a vegetable roll at the Deli. I thought they were average quality.
nora nora
Great selection of fresh and prepared food. We stayed closed by in an air BnB and were able to find everything we needed . Their food court is pretty amazing as well
Terrance F. Marrow
They had a soft reopening here a few weeks ago. So far so good. Today, it was quite packed. Everyone will wearing a face mask. It's nice to see people and visiting the store once again as well as other stores in the area.
Buggy
This Uwajimaya is massive (bigger than Bellevue and Renton). There is a huge range of selection in asian grocery, seafood, snacks etc. The only issue is this place is always very hectic, so I opt to go to Bellevue Uwajimaya instead. There is just too many people going to this store and also there is a lack of parking space available.
Ginnie Joubert
Hooollyyy moollyyy this place is so cool. If you spend more than $10 in store then your parking is free. Not from Seattle so that was a little different. Call me weird but it was awesome to see geoduck live and in person! If you're looking for something different then definitely give this place a shot! We were staying at an AirBnB that was quite small so we didn't get to cook anything "different" like we wanted to but it was a great time at least exploring the store and seeing all it had to offer!
Haley F.
This place is the best, I walked in the food market entrance and I thought it was like a really nice food mall but then I realized what store I was in and I went wild on candy and juice

Thank you to both the cashier and security for recognizing I was just a previous shopper who forgot something and not some loon walking bacc inside. Also shout out to the shelver who was genuinely nice asking if I need help! It's too early (late for me) for my bs but they were nice!
Jen Rein
Uwajimaya is my favorite Asian grocery on this side of the border! It focuses strongly on Japanese goods, but other cultures are represented. There is a separate book store, glasses shop & fantastic food court that share the space inside. Parking can be free if you spend a certain amount inside (trust, it won't be difficult to do) & remember to validate. Lovely products, worth the drive in if you're from outside of Seattle!
Sheena Salmon
This place is an experience, the store is essentially 3 separate stores. The first is a huge Asian grocery store, the second store is a beauty and gift shop located at the front with a few additional mini stores peppered in and the third store is a massive bookstore. If you are in Seattle you should stop here.
Tayma McClain
Amazing grocery store with imported Asian goods of all kinds, wonderful produce, and fun gift items! Love the food court too 😋 …
Kyo To
Nice Asian food selection!! Also , this place is so clean compare to other Asian markets.
Sergei Opeshko
Excellent grocery store. there is everything! sushi, rolls, fish, exclusive cuts of meat pieces, excellent food courts, prices are below average!
Shingo S. Ishida
This is my go-to place every time I visit Seattle for all things Japanese and nihongo. Aisles and aisles of things that remind me of time I spent living in Japan, as well as for new food/drink items that I need. I love the small but delicious items served in the adjacent food court as well. You get 1 hour of free parking for spending $10, and 2 hours of free parking for spending $20 (just make sure to get your parking ticket/stub validated inside the store).
Anna Lima
Wonderful space, and much more variety after their new renovation. They have a wide selection of fish, and you can buy them live here.
Lucy Yang
Best Asian supermarket in Seattle! My favorite things are the unique sauce selection, frozen karaage, and the roast duck at the deli.
James K
Wow. Asian grocery stores can actually be totally clean and well organized. Very nice store.
Patrick Elze
I love visiting this store and the other stores in and around the area. I always have a good time in the international district.
P F
Always have a great selection of food. I feel safe shopping because of the securities presence
Kimberly Lanske
Very interesting to see all of the different items. The different foods. What a fun place to spend the day and sample many different foods.
Zerozero Two
Uwajimaya is a "must go" store if you are looking for Asian foods. They have variety produces and products. Products are fresh with reasonable cost. I like 1 hour free parking with $10 minimum purchase or 2 hours with $20. There are discount day/time for seniors and students. Wish they open a new store in Shoreline or Lynnwood.
Master iOqY
Living Asian-American history operating for 90+ years. One of the cornerstone's of Seattle's little Japan and Chinatown. Everything you need in one spot with a small food court, Japanese bookstore, fresh fish and produce, etc.
Bao Pham
Great selection of many foods and products that are authentic! I think the price comes in return for the quality you receive. However, I’ve run into rude staff multiple times and it’s made me not want to visit here anymore
Simpin Sandreezy
Inside there is a restaurant called Congeez. I ordered the spicy pork ribs. I was thinking something bone in, like a rib you know. But it was boneless, easier to eat. Delicious sauce they had with it, great flavor on the meat. Would definitely go again.
Quinton Gasper
Great variety of international foods, fun as a whole experience between the bookstore, small restaurants, and novelty items
Joel Medley
Best beef around (unless you go to a specialty meat shop, then there's contest). Honestly, I can't find marbled beef in any other grocer like I do here.
Duane Johnson
The staff here took customer service to another level. From the security guard who graciously showed me where the musubi was to the gentleman at the fish counter who told me they were expecting a shipment of fish soon. Then hunted me down in the store to let me know it had arrived.
moua Yang
this asian store has many varies of items and products and is very pack, this was an amazing experience for the first time there
Eric Tam
Uwajimaya is an all in one Japan town. With a wide assortment of Japanese groceries and produce, ready made sushi, bento boxes, donburi, etc., they also have a big Japanese Sake alcohol and snacks. A section dedicated to various Japanese household item. They have a food court, but was expecting more variety and Japanese food (i.e., squid balls, fresh sushi, Udon, poke bowls, etc.) Location also has a Japanese version of Barnes and Noble store with everything a anime fan wish for. Remember to show your receipt to get your parking validated.
Lisa Cortes
Some of my favorite items are at this store. Looking for Asian and ingredients? This is the place! Plus it houses my favorite dessert in the whole wide world, #BeardPapa
s i
Good selection of Japanese products. Prices are fair. I really like the food court and Kinokuniya annexed to this location.
Selena Lee
Fantastic Korean market, bookstore as well as Korean cooking, skincare and toiletries. My husband is Korean therefore we really enjoy a great Korean Market.
Josh Barokas
Fantastic. Needed 15 live crabs. Great price. They packed them for me to drive to Hood Canal, probably back where they came from. All made the trip alive and ready to boil. My new go-to place for crab when I can't catch them in the Canal.
Eduardo R D
Love this place! I've been coming here for over a decade and always find something I haven't tried before.
Kim Pham
Nice and interesting to see but prices are way too much for convenience items such as a 20oz bottle of Mt. Dew or a small loaf of bread.
Apple I
We just hit the peak hour right around people need to have lunch it was chaotic experience try to fight the crowds for food and space to sit but beyond that food here are so authentic. The parking was absolutely horrific like you are doing musical chairs. Don't for get to validate your parking ticket 🎫 after you shop here $10 you get an hour free $20 good for two hours but if you didn't plan to shop here be prepared for paying $16 per hour.
Morgan G.
Truly an experience. Always packed full of shoppers but it's so big and has an indoor bookstore which is cool for us anime lovers.
John Fig
This was an oriental culinary fiesta. You can order a wide variety of meats, fish, vegetables, that you cook in 2 different broths at your table. The seating is comfortable, the staff was efficient and responded quickly to our requests.
Andrew Pei
The standard in terms of Asian grocery stores in Seattle. You can pretty much find anything.
Dan Hoyt (Higgs-Boson)
Store has a great selection, frequently pretty busy but they get people taken care of pretty quick. Lots of little places to get a bite to eat as well, frequently really good deals on meat. And awesome selection of things you can't find anywhere else
Liralen Li
The selections here are just amazing, and if there's nearly anything you want food-wise, that's Japanese, they have it. There's even cold Taiyaki that you can toast yourself when you get home.
The bookstore that's attached is amazing, with an entire wall of manga in Japanese, along with books, magazines, and an entire section for Ghibli Studio products. We were able to get a Porco Rosso puzzle and a pencil case that doubles as a pencil cup and has a travel strap as well.
There's even a Daiso just across the street if you want to do your 1.50 store shopping of Japanese items. And I've always loved the Samurai Ramen also attached to the outside of the store/complex.
Heather Wendel
My type of store. A lot of international options for a reasonable price. Traveling from LA area, this store has reasonable prices. Kit kat bars were roughy $4-5 dollars while LA wanted closer to $10. I loved seeing the Filipino bakery area <3
JKJA Haggan
The only business I stop at traveling through Seattle. Amazing selection, best employees.(pics are pre covid, place is the same with added precautions)
Grant Holloway
Want to pick up some produce, sushi grade fish, a Japanese back scrubber, a tea mug, some manga, and art supplies all in one trip? This is your spot, plus it’s ridiculously charming. I love Uwajimaya!
Cindy QT
Love this store. We stop in and stock up on any Asian staples we need whenever we're in Seattle. The fish counter has beautiful fresh fish/seafood and a great selection is fresh oysters. I can't pass up the oysters. We live a couple hours away and when we tell them where we're going they always offer to bag up our purchase with ice to keep it fresh on our long drive home. The employees in that department must have to pass a rigid customer service test because I'm yet to have one of them help me that doesn't go out of their way to make sure I'm happy. Uwajimaya is a fantastic!!
Luke Henkel
Fairly pricey but good quality stuff, and everything that I could ask for if I'm looking for an Asian meal of any kind: Filipino, Thai, Korean, Japanese... And a wide variety of produce. The kimchi is also bomb :)
Janet Nieves
You're going to find so many good things in here!
If you come in from 5th & Weller you'll enter into the food court. Thai Place, Aloha plates, Saigon Streets, Jardin tea, Waji's Poke bar, Dochi, Beard Papa's!
We walked into the market and checked out what they had premade. Once I saw takoyaki I had to have it! I went around the corner to where they have duck being freshly chopped up and ordered a duck combo plate for my husband and I. This was a lot of food!
The duck entree is humongous, they don't skimp out on portions and at around $15 they really are being extremely generous! I loved the flavor of the duck and the meat was so tender and mouth watering it was tempting to suck on the pieces to really get the flavor experience. Duck isn't for everyone though. It's a boney one and normally I don't even like chicken wings, but we found this one easy to eat with our hands and we immersed ourselves in the delicious flavor of each bite. It's a delicacy and I highly recommend trying duck if you haven't and at this price, you wont find better!
Suzanne Grover
This store has absolutely beautiful displays and is very fun to shop in!
Ben Kordash
Uwajimaya has been a mainstay in the Chinatown/International Dist neighborhood of Seattle since its original Main Street location, to their 6th Avenue South and South King Street store known as the largest Japanese supermarket in the Pacific Northwest! In the year 2000, the Uwajimaya store relocated to its current location on 5th Avenue South.
For a large grocery store, I have to give them credit for having very good, fairly priced food at the in-house food court.
I usually have a difficult time locating what I need.
Annie Mehler
Selection of products, groceries and gifts is terrific! Service is great! And the number of people in and out is amazing! Had a great experience here.
Kamiko
Mmmm duck. We got the combo plate for $15. Half a roast duck with rice and veggies. So much food. I'm glad we shared.
Rebecca Holmes
Currently under remodel! Looking forward to seeing the updates. Also, they were out of Kewpie mayo... that was sad. But they do carry special Japanese mayo bottle holders! They still have Buddha's Hand citrus, which is one of the most amazing citrus fruits ever, and is rarely still available this time of year. Fresh whole small durian also available in the produce section.
Vanessa Alvarez
So many cool things to buy and see! I absolutely loved going there and looking at the amazing selection of Asian sweets, art, kitchen supplies, beauty supplies, etc.
I absolutely loved it and will be going again when I go back to Seattle!
Ms. Liam
Awesome place after remodel-a must see and shopping for asian groceries
J Lam
Great place for books in Japanese and culture from anime, learning the language, crafts, home, etc. They also carry books in Chinese and English as well. Back end they gave books for children in English and Japanese for bilingual children. There's also wonderful stationary products that you can test out and see. Upstairs there's anime books, illustrations, keychains, figures, and toys. Great place to browse around or purchase. Stop by if you ever get the chance and Totoro will greet you at the front door.
Tiffany Chou
There's a reason everyone loves coming to Uwajimaya. It's a great place to get your Asian groceries! Good prices and selection. Super close to a bunch of bus lines too. They've done a bunch of renovations in the last year or two too.
Blooberry Baggens
This is..the. best. Grocery store in Seattle. Normal items and just about every specialty item. I always stop here for sure. On vacation or as a local..go here
Ayon Ibrahim
Awesome Asian specialty supermarket with food stalls inside
Frances M
Lots of choices when it comes to food. We love going to the bookstore even though it's a bit expensive but there are items that are on the cheap side too.
Jeff Hirsch
Can be expensive. The employees won't move to let you get a item they're in front of.
Those types of issues really take away from a store with great items impossible to find elsewhere. The quality of the perishable items is amazing. Over all it's a great place. If not for some serious problems with some of the employees
Michael Luong
It's a nice Asian supermarket. The prices are higher than typical Asian markets but it's in downtown Seattle. There's also a weird self promoting ad which loops when you're by the baked goods.
Mock Berry
Great store. Has verity of foods. Great place to shop. Awesome staffs
Joy N
This asian market is amazing!
It’s huge, very well kept, and the produce is great! Good prices as well.
CellularKuro
Fresh produce, asian market, and stylish gifts! A must see for otakus and foodies.
Beth Hjort
One of my favorite Seattle grocery stores! They have a great variety of ingredients, both cold and hot prepared items, fresh fish, a good selection of household items, as well as a food court area.
Trent Tweddle-De Leon
Such a variety of foods. Love this store. Wish we had one in denver.
Kenny Lantz
Huge selection of products, awesome book store , best yummy restaurants
victor pawid
Greeted by the sight of an off shade mint green industrially piped ceiling and an unfinished weathered cement floor; I reminisce of marukai a local japanese store in hawaii. Even though uwajimaya tries to replicate japanese supa, it fails to maintain the meticulous sparkle of even a common seven in Kyoto. BUT this store is truly impressive once you start to roam the isles and discover how vast of a selection they bring in. Generic Japanese products like rice and teas, but also kombu furikake and other specific additions to japanese culture. Hawaiian products like juice, chocolates, and alcohol. Even Filipino ready made foods. There even was the famous spicy instant noodles from Korea that would be bought as travel gifts. It definitely is relief to see an Asian food store this do so well and grow so big. I would recommend shopping here if you want to grab authentic Asian groceries. Especially helpful if you want to grab bulk rice, kimchi or instant noodles for cheap and easy eats - perfect for the broke college students who can barely afford their rent (we've all been there, folks). All in all a great shop with loads of options even if the prices (for snacks and drinks) are almost double their home country counterpart.
SJ
Gazillion and a half people aside, this market is fantastic. So many things to eat and try and it's almost overwhelming. I wish I could go back more often. Wanted to try curbside pickup but you have to create an account.
Stephen Millet (Civezy)
I love this place. I mostly go here to stock up on dumplings. The food court is nice, but I think the hidden gem is the bookstore. Just make sure to validate parking!
Kenneth McNamee
I'm a Personal Chef and I go grocery shopping every day. I really love the seafood department. They're reallly helpful and the fish selection is 2nd to none. The produce department is very good. They have unique things you won't find at other stores for example passion fruit. Meat department is just ok...I was looking for ground turkey, they didn't have it so I had to change the menu. The rest of the store though is very good and you'll have an excellent choice of ingredients to pick and choose from.
Michael Klozar
Outstanding selection of all things from the East. Wonderful treats, fish, even Sake with receipes for tasty cocktails.
Yolanda Morales
So many different selections to choose from nice and clean they rearranged the whole place it's gorgeous you got to come and see it and shop!
Juan Sherry C.Retureta
Lot's to choose from & fast food courts, lot's variety fresh products and groceries ect. Thank you for staying open while the Covid-19 pandemic are happening 🙏 😘😇😇😊 …
Josh Walton
Great food and other things to. Also has a nice section of art supplies and anime books, movies, and other goodies...
Nate Brown
Awesome Japanese super market, prices are very reasonable especially for staple products like meat and vegetables. You can get any Japanese product you can think of here as well as a lot of Chinese ingredients and products.
They also have a good alcohol selection, a small bakery and a food court at the back. Also a Manga store, it's really a one stop shop! Staff were super friendly and no line for self checkout at 6pm.
JoLu MSosa
Nice supermarket, feels like the don quijote chain in japan but I didnt like the packaged chicken meal I bought
Jacky Ng
Very nice Asian supermarket, lot of premium products. Parking is free if you purchase over 10$
Karl Seng
I actually found a jar of grape leaves for making dolmas here (for middle east dishes). I've been looking all over Seattle for these.
Extraordinary fish and vegetable selection too.
lekshay
This is one of the best grocery stores in Seattle. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. They always take time to help me. And what an amazing selection of all things I never knew I needed before! I've learned too many new foods from going there. Whenever I am there in the morning, when I get home, I always find some sushi in my bag. It's a mystery!
amantastic
Amazing place! A short walk from King Street Station, this place has it all from tea shops, delish food vendors and a giant market. There is a small area to dine as well. Definitely stop here while I’m Seattle!!
Bradlee Vrieling
I work 2 blocks from here! Although pretty much everything is Asian and written in Asian. I found myself looking for icy hot back pain relief pads for a friend. I found a comparable product for half the price! Check out their seafood area. It's like a small aquarium! The employees are very professional and so much fresh fruit. They have something for everyone!!!
Brian Beck
Super fun, food court not at all traditional that's just a few blocks away but the market has a great selection of Asian products
Teresa
Uwajimaya has fresh, high quality produce and seafood. Things are generally higher priced than other grocery chains. Consider the quality, it is worth it. When I need fresh seafood, I go to Uwajimaya. They recently remodeled the store. It has become more difficult to find things. Maybe it will get better over time. The staff are usually friendly and helpful.
Zoli Uebele
If you're the sort who likes to cook or eat Asian style foods, this is your Mecca. Loads of ingredients and a food court too. Spend ,$60 or more and even the parking is free. That doesn't suck.
Kourtney Rykowski
I don’t have a lot of experience with Asian specialty foods but this was a cool store. I got a few things to try and I’m sure I’ll be back. They also have quite a lot of standard grocery items and cute teaware and home goods.
R.W. Sinclair
Cheap and tasty choices from Japan and other parts of Asia. It’s basically a food court for a grocery store so don’t come here for a fancy date!
Al Ao (Al)
If you haven't visited since the beginning of the pandemic, be prepared for major changes. The whole store layout is rotated 90 degrees, and everything is in different places. I'm sure it is better, but I wasn't ready for it!
Always the best fish and stir-fry beef.
Yuchen Zhang
I love it here. So many great items you can get that you can't find in an American grocery store. I can browse here all day long. Love looking at the home goods and snacks even more than the groceries.
Some things to note:
- Parking is validated if you spend over $10 so keep your receipt and make sure to validate your ticket before you leave.
- Hot food service in the back - I recommend the meats hanging like the teriyaki chicken and the duck and pork but I Do Not recommend the hot food bar. Compared to the one in Bellevue, this one has a lot fewer options and I find the food not as fresh. I would recommend opting for the prepared food options like their breakfast meals (can't understand how they make their scrambled eggs and rice taste so damn good), Japanese Sandwiches, or their bowls like Beef Don and such.
- Sandwiches go fast! If you want all the selections, get there early.
Fantasy MMORPG Roleplayer
Absolutely delicious. Great selection of non-food gifts, too.
Everything from Japanese beauty products to shampoo/conditioner to sushi to gorgeous plates, bowls, and tea sets.
This store has it all.
Try Japanese chocolate, their taro cookies, and their custard buns/breads.
Nichelle
Hands down one of my favorite Asian markets to visit. This place is huge, and has a very large variety of items. They carry far more than you typically see at most smaller markets. It's very hard to NOT buy things in this store and the kitchenware here is especially amazing. A large parking area is available and validation is easy to get at checkout. Definitely recommend!
mike Hughes
Great place huge selection of stuff I've never seen. I just go in for the jumbo combo at the food court, rice noodles and choice of two mains. 12 bucks and it feeds two adults easy great deal good food fast service parking sucks but it's worth it.
Amanda Lin
Love Uwajimaya! They have a delightful selection of all kinds of foods, gifts and toys. Almost everything obscure relating to Asian foods (mostly Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Taiwanese) that I've looked for, I've managed to find here. They won't have a wide range of some Western foods though. For example, I think they only have one or two kinds of peanut butter. The quality of produce and meat has always been very solid and the store is always clean and cozy. Curbside pickup thus far has also been very good, the team is working hard and doing a great job! It can be a little tricky to find things in the online shop, but it's workable and it's totally worth it for the very seamless experience after placing my order. Miss shopping there in person and discovering new things!
Kathryn Mays
I recently revisited Seattle to see if I wanted to move back after being gone for 10 years. Putting aside this review for a moment, I can tell you that the best of Seattle has gotten better, and the worst of Seattle has gotten worse. Returning to this review, I can tell you that Uwajimaya has always been, and continues to be, part of the best of seattle.
I prefer to enter from the side closest to the food courts. There's thai, Japanese waffle, Chinese to go, Beard Papa cream puffs (which ate up far more of my budget than I realized until I got home, but man was it worth it!), Peking duck, etc etc. I personally wouldn't recommend the time, but everything else is pretty damn good.
This part of the building also houses the bookstore and gift shop. The items are overpriced, you could probably go to almost any other Japanese bookstore or gift shop in Seattle and get most of these items for half the price,... But it's uwajimaya. If the memory of uwajimaya is important to you, paying a little extra for an item specifically from that place isn't too terrible. Just be warned it's not a bargain.
The best part of the building, however, is the supermarket itself. All their seafood, or I should say rather most of their seafood, is sushi grade. You can pick up large amounts of sushi for highly affordable price at this location. You can also pick up bento boxes, dimsum sets, and so on, all ready to eat. Are you a mochi person? They have that as well! Japanese beers and wines? My goodness, are you in luck! Just want to meander and see what you find? You came to the right place.
Jackfruit was oddly difficult to find, but nothing else was.
If you've never been here before, I highly encourage you to go sometime late morning, early afternoon and just meander around for a bit to allow yourself to absorb the shock of how magical this place is. Then go outside, go somewhere else for about an hour, then come back in time for lunch with a better game plan and a little less shock.
C Sellers
Amazing Japanese store, they carry authentic products, my family miss Japan so much but this brings Japan closer from Japanese flavored kit kats, mochi, Georgia canned coffee, calpice drink, ramen, sesame salad dressing, Japanese mayonnaise, hi chews, green tea. They carry more than just Japanese products but other goods from Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, India and China. Highly recommended!!!!!
Justin Roodman
This is an interesting Asian grocery store that's close to Lumen field. There is a small food court in front of the inside entrance to the grocery store. There's a solid selection of food stuff here, although the crowds right before a Sounders game definitely do a number on their bakery items and sushi offerings. There's not a ton of check out stands here, so the lines can be a little long, but most people weren't buying a ton of stuff when we were there, so that was a plus.
Rodney “Thom” Parham
Nice grocery store. Fun food court and amazing bookstore. My partner and I had great time.
David Wang
Such a pretty grocery store with a great food court!
Ben H.
This is a wonderful Asian grocery store! I was able to find all of my favorite Japanese snacks here: Tohato's caramel corn, Ramune candy, Boss Coffee, melon cream soda, mochi, and more! There is also a good selection of fresh Japanese food, produce, and a food court right next to the store. My only regret is that I didn't have more time and money to spend here!
Tracy Fairfield
I always love going to Uwajimaya stores,, but this one has definitely improved even further! The new layout is easier to navigate, and it feels less claustrophobic without sacrificing product variety. Plus the attached food court and Kinokuniya always make this a great shopping destination for food and gifts! If you are visiting the area, I'd highly recommend stopping here!
Skywalker Feng
Authentic Japanese supermarket with lots of funky stuff. Compared to the Bellevue store, this one has more varieties. The price is on the expensive side.
Ivan Lau
Loads of different snacks here. There’s a lot to try around here. They also stock interesting ramens, dumplings, and prepackaged foods here. There’s a variety of different rice brands and various sizes too. I will say that a lot of the stuff here are more expensive than other places. Parking is free IF you validate it with a purchase. Don’t lose your ticket otherwise parking is pretty expensive.
josh brzoznowski
still one of my core stops for groceries, but prices and selection has definitely suffered post-remodel. gone is most of the charm; produce is a sliver of what it was and the overall organization is confusing, making it very chaotic if it's at all busy.
Jim Cox
Great store! They have many unique items such as Peach Coke from Japan.
Love-Is Patient
Simply put I love this place the char siu and boba tea are amazing. All the different varieties of fresh fish and shell fish is incredible. And the bakery oh the bakery 🥯🧁. …
Jeffery Pardue
Prices are a little bit more than one might expect to see but then they are an Asian supermarket. Meat and seafood is large selection. They even have sacks of rice and lots of noodles and sauces. I couldn't find s tea strainer. All I could find were tea infusers. They even have green tea candy. They have a food court.
Mike P
Been going here since I was a child. Could easily spend 5 to 6 hours if you look at everything there is. Pricy but worth it!
Brandi F
I always want everything when I go. They have a really good selection. I love the food court. Everything is always done so well.
Sandra Keisner
I enjoy the atmosphere and with pleasant service n delicious food.
Herman Villanueva
These 2 hidden gems are awesome. The Thai place had a spectacular mango drink to die for
Shriti Singh
Best thing to do in Seattle
Phaedra Lew
Great!! Don't forget to ask for validated parking when you check out!
Munsy Man
Best Asian supermarket in Seattle just got better. Now they got Royce inside!!!
Christian Buchanann
Always so clean and full of helpful staff. Everything I've bought has always been so fresh and tasty. Can't recommend it enough.
Its often very busy so I'd keep that in mind.
I can always find parking there and they will wave the parking fee if you purchase enough from inside- a great deal 👍
BTC BULLRIDER
always friendly people great food & the freshest produce.
Juli
I love this place. This location has a bit more product than the Bellevue location. It's one of the best places to buy seafood in Seattle with out a doubt.
K L
Very large grocery store specializing in Japanese-style foods. Clean and high quality.
MEC M.R.
Love this store! Huge variety of grocery products and the home and cosmetic items are fun to look through as well. I LOVE the restaurant options! Great spam masubi from the deli!
Antonina Savinova
Always good fruits and vegetables. One of the best places to get cooking ingredients and pre made food. They started selling tayaki in foodcourt 😊 …
Takumi Fujiwara
Love the market place but the one old security guard there treated us horribly. He followed us everywhere in there like we are stealing all because my girlfriend has a service dog. Then he was rude to his coworker and scolding and yelling at him in front of everyone. That is not ok
Tarush Mohanti
I lived in the Uwajimaya Village apartments above the grocery store, and it was such a great convenient place to find whatever I needed. On top of having all the regular essentials of a grocery store, the specialty Asian items, including Japanese, Korean, Chinese, South Asian, and other regions. The staff is friendly and very helpful, and the checkout lines are distributed throughout the store. The remodel looks great too!
Wayne Nakashima
A fantastic Asian market with a huge grocery section, household gadgets and supplies. The seafood is the best with really fresh product and a wide variety of fresh and live options. The produce carries hard to find vegetables and are very fresh. They also have a big bookstore with many gift ideas. There is a bank and cosmetics boutique. When you get hungry, there is a wonderful food court with hot and cold choices. My family loves this place and we visit every few months.
Josh
Pretty good selection of Asian foods at reasonable prices. Free parking with purchases makes this place very easily accessible too. Some nice attached restaurant and a Kinokuniya bookstore make this a really great spot in total.
L. Spurgeon
Not a perfect market, but the most important one in Seattle. Uwajimaya has been around for a long time offering people whatever they need to make family recipes long before the chains started carrying tamari or Thai basil. Selection is broad, quality is good, staff are helpful.
Eric
Great place it's under construction but still open and they have great food at the food court
DREW LAYCOCK
The store is very clean and well stocked with international delights. Top quality produce and the fish and meat markets are very clean and fresh. Prices are very good especially for being so close to down town.
BlueComit
Amazing stuff! Great selection of prepared foods and fresh ingrediants. They completed the remodel and now the book store is back open and full of neat stuff!
Jones Gordon
Omg. I so love this place! My second favorite to go in Seattle.
Baselle 5000
Dined in for first time in their remodel. Not too many tables and steam table was okay...I did go in mid afternoon. The shopping part was nice, with wide aisles. self check check-out, very new for them.
Merissa Simental
I love going to Uwajimaya! I always pick up snacks and this time I went to Beard Papa's and had a really good eclair! I try to make a stop every time I'm in Seattle! It's best to stop on the way out of Seattle since it's near an I-5 on ramp. Other benefits that you won't find other places in Seattle are that it has a public restroom and it's own parking lot! It's a nice wrap up to all my city adventures!
Jeremy Anderson
Immaculately clean, well-arranged store with a wide variety of Asian foods, fresh vegetables, and meats. Selection is tilted towards Japanese and Korean products with some Chinese and Taiwanese for variety.
Robert Fergusson
The store has a lot of import goods and foods that are not available anywhere else. Say a reasonable prices and a great selection of food. Their Seafood selections are top-notch and they even have a household goods and Gifts section that has a lot of interesting items. The store also has a pretty good food court.
Zania Fleming
Best selection of fresh seafood, asian food, fresh produce and kitchen ware.
Customer service is superior and the cashier handled are precious purchases carefully wrapped and bagged with lots of care.
Guido Massello
Lost 3 hours browsing until my head hurted. 10/10 would lost them again.
Tina Alley
The store looks so organized open and clean. Everyone that works there are always friendly. Such a wonderful gift we have here in Seattle to have such a great shopping center! So much variety and the produce is always high quality.
Bobby Ferdaszewski
Fantastic grocery store for Japanese and Asian foods.
Picked up everything I needed for Shabu Shabu . Veggies, noodles, sauces, pickled vegetables and meat for my non vegan friend’s.
Actually it was almost overwhelming with the choice’s that you have!
They have stores outside downtown- but the mother ship is awesome!
Jordan Yoshimura
Okay I love you guys as a store. You literally have everything that I could ever want and need. However your spicy poke was exceptionally bad and overpriced. It literally tasted like mayonnaise and fish. 0 spice was added to it. Which is strange because I’ve had your spicy poke before and it was great. I think that you guys need to go back to that old recipe because this one was very sad.
Lil Olin
This is a classic Seattle Staple for Asian and other international grocery items. Convenient downtown location with a parking lot available (pending validation based on purchase) they have pretty much everything you could need in both asian/international + regular grocery items. Only negative is it's now a "tourist attraction" and can be very busy because of that. There may be better options for regular asian/International groceries close to you if you're a Seattle native.
Malcolm Lee
Still crowded with people. Must go place since I first come at the old store 1980
Renee Hintze
The best Asian grocery store.
Their options are so plentiful.
Everything is fresh and clean.
The deli has so many options that it’s hard to decide.
The produce is clean and well stocked with a variety of choices.
The meat and seafood department is ran by friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I can’t get enough of this store.
When I visit Seattle, which is quite often. I am sure to bring a cooler and stick up on my way home.
A Hartmann
Although uwajimaya is under construction, she is still open. It's like entering an ever evolving cocoon-- soon enough the transformation will be complete.
Matthew Weirath
I honestly miss the old store layout. While it does feel more modern, I feel like they lost a lot of variety due to having less shelf space. I have noticed several items they used to have multiple varieties of they now only have 1 or 2. Overall it is still a good store and I will continue to go back, but I might have to start shopping some of the other markets nearby to get some of the variety I am looking for in my dry goods.
Dbl J - Relxation and Meditation Music For You
Many great foods!
Alana Strassfield
Good quality and variety, but somehow more expensive than whole foods and QFC, even for items like conventional (not organic) asparagus; more than 2-2.5x that of Whole Foods and QFC.
Rachel Anheier
Spacious aisles since the remodel. Found everything I needed for both an authentic Malaysian and Japanese dish. Employees are eager to help find items. $10 min purchase for 1 hr parking validation and $20 min for 2 hrs.
Bea
Great and affordable selection of house made sushi. Having lunch felt like a real deal and I enjoyed every bite!
whitney sol
Pretty good! Got all of the Asian necessities for a good price.
Hello
Pretty cool place. Lots of variety
Destiny Koeth
Always one of my favorite stops when I visit Seattle. There's awesome ingredients that I can't find in my small town!!
eanna 123
I mean... this place is amazing you can never go wrong coming here! So many great random finds and delicious food.
Mr.S
A Seattle original!
The best source for great seafood. The selection of Japanese imported foods and now hard to find Japanese liquor. Great produce including hard to find Japanese vegetables. Hands down the best Asian grocery store in the region. Really helpful and friendly staff. A nice selection of Japanese housewares as well.
Valerie Wong
They had innovatived the shop interior design early this year, much organize, clean and spaces for shopping, major goods and foods are imported from Japan. Foods, Kitchen Accessories, Skin and Body Care etc. Have to spend for free parking.
Nick Havens
This place has a lot going on! The bookstore is awesome... lots of them in Japanese. The food court has a few options. The deli has all the standard fare you'd expect. The produce and fish sections are awesome!
Been going here for years and will continue to do so. Don't forget to have your parking validated!
Mikayla Prementine
I really enjoyed the store. They have everything you could possibly need for eastern food and most staples for American style meals. Their produce section is phenomenal. Some of the specialty aisles are a little narrow so don't bring any big shoulder bags since you may knock something over. Also I thought they were a little expensive but I live outside Seattle so that may be normal for the city.
Kozue Aochi Kato
Loved the place since we don't have anything nearly as big as this place. The 2 story bookstore was great with a huge variety on books, creme puff shop, the veggies actually looked fresh, my list goes on and on. Price was also reasonable considering a lot of it is imported.
Elizabeth Frakes
I'm a pretty avid Asian food fan so I make a point to take a trip here every once in a while to pick up sauces, spices or other ingredients not findable in more Western oriented grocery stores. It's a great place for that as well as trying new snack foods. Highly recommended.
john lazaroo
Great place to eat! Nice selection of Asian foods. Not a lot of seats for enjoying your meal. The actual store is nice too.
There's also an Anime store which is really cool, if you're into that stuff. My kids enjoyed looking at all the toys and books. Prices will tend to be on the expensive side because it's a physical store.
There's ground level parking and a garage below. You can get the parking fee waived if you spend $15 or more. 🤔
Great place to see things you don't usually see in American stores.
Aaron Taylor
Always worth a stop for Japanese groceries and good. Don't forget Kinokuniya Book store is here too. Make sure to get your parking pass validated as well to avoid the rather pricey parking. First thing in the morning at opening is best time to go. It gets a little busy later. Specially on the weekends.
lyee chong
Amazing produce. The garlic that I bought here was literally the single best garlic I have ever seen in my life. Oh yeah, and the rest of their produce was good too. Also good variety of Asian food. And good food court! Great place all around.
P. j. (Fussy cat)
My family and I love shopping here. They offer such a great selection of foods and gifts. I always leave with more than I need.
The bookstore is so good. We always go there for gifts for friends. Something for everyone. Very nice selection.
I'm am a little disappointed in the deli. I bought a sandwich for my daughter there and she got food poisoning.
Other than that it's our go to almost every weekend. We come in from the East Side!
Sandy Aubin
Wonderful Asian grocery store with east Indian foods, too. Very clean, neat, and Covid conscience. Prepared foods for a quick, inexpensive dinner is a highlight.
Cynthia Clouser
I love this store. It has food for all types of Asian dishes, as well as, ingredients for others. Lots of tummy spices and condiments. Great meat and fish counter/selection. I was in there that day, buying ingredients for Pho. The building it's in, has other shops and places to get delicious cooked food.
Hidden Peng
After the remodel, the selections, as other reviewers have mentioned, have gone down a lot. There are only one or two options for most food items now. They have significantly less shelf space compared to the old layout. I believe the remodel reduced stock, but increased flow and space for people to move around. It's still a good Asian food store, a lot of Japanese foods you can't find anywhere else.
William Tablan
Recently renovated, now there is plenty more space and it's easier to find what you're looking or in the grocery. The restaurants inside are leaning more dessert oriented than meal oriented. Overall great place if you're new to Chinatown.
- Lon
Such great selections! I found so many delicious ingredients and premade foods. An additional plus is access to Japanese hair care and a big selection of mochi ice cream. I wish they had more makeup like eyeshadow or more lip products but as a general grocery store it’s amazing.
Elbert Perez
This is the best Uwajimaya around. Very big and well stocked with Asian foods. It's pricier than the other Asian groceries but higher quality too. There's a Japanese bookstore in here and a little kitchen store. The food court is pretty decent too.
Mo Davis
Awesome place to shop. Love some of the restaurants there. Also, best place for cosmetics, kitchen wares, groceries and the prices are just right. It is a very busy place, but that's all apart of the atmosphere. The associates there are knowledgeable about their products, so don't be afraid to ask for whatever you are looking for. They are so willing to help you. Parking is also easy there. It may look full, but there's always someone leaving, so be patient. Happy shopping.
Kent H
Good place to find many Japanese and other Asian groceries. Friendly staff.
P X
I like the remodel, wide selection of ready to eat food ( sushi, sandwiches, rice bowl) in the grocery section, plus the food court. Produce is good also.
Alida
If you love Japanese cuisine and culture you probably already know about Uwajimaya, which is an iconic store with a few locations on the west coast. Best known for combining a huge grocery store with an incredible selection of food with other areas of shopping, such as a kitchenware/apparel/home goods sections, hot dining, and an attached media/gift shop.
This store can meet almost all of your Japanese import needs with reasonable prices and incredible quality. You can loose track of time here, especially in the gift shop which has a wonderful selection of Japanese books, comics, music, stationary, gifts, toys, and decor.
Great place to grab food. Since I don't live in the area, my visits are always a treat. In recent years I've taken the Bolt Bus and the station is right outside, it's also right next to the central subway/light rail station. Incredibly convenient location in the heart of Seattle.
David Merriman
Definitely an Asian-geared supermarket: ability to read Japanese, Chinese (and a little Korean) would be helpful but not *necessary*. Fresh fruit & veggies, liquor, cosmetics, etc. Reasonable prices, VERY clean and orderly.
TheReal Reviewer
I love Uwajimaya - I can find a lot of things there that I can't find at other grocery stores.
However, the one thing I don't like is their bathroom having a code. They print it on the bottom of the receipt so I'd recommend if you're like me and when you gotta go you need a bathroom NOW - buy a $1 item right when you walk in so you have a receipt with the code on it. I've been there twice where I had to go and left my cart with my friend since you can't take unpaid merchandise into the bathroom.
The first time the restaurant in the food court across from the restroom was nice enough to tell me the code. I saved the code in my phone but they change it every so often. The second visit, they just straight up ignored me but thankfully someone went in and I was able to follow after.
Uwajimaya, some people have health problems and when they need to go they need to go without barriers - if you don't want people doing drugs in there, install blue lights - you can't find a vein in blue lighting.
And if it's about keeping homeless people out, well, they need to use the bathroom too and deserve a place to do so.
But until they change this, I guess buy a dollar item and get the code before you start really shopping

Can barely wait until Uwajimaya in International District opens back up when it's safe after a large percentage of patrons are vaccinated (SOON) and able to fill the store again. The store here has a wide variety to choose from and really nice and helpful staff. Conveniently located a few blocks from the stadium and also the train stations makes it a great place to stock up on snacks or presumably all the groceries one could need. Absolutely a staple in the community like all the essential businesses trying to keep themselves and their customers alive.
Crystal Auslam
We went in to make a quick deposit in chase bank when this store you can enter out from the bank caught our eye. My fiance wanted to check it out. Great! Selection of meats and the bakery was awsome. We had a great time looking at all the goodies and bought some dinner we made that night. We will definitely be back. Oh! The cashiers and customer service was friendly and just wonderful.
Dexter Santos
If you love Asian food items, this is one of the best places to shop. Uwajimaya has mostly everything you could want in an Asian grocery store. I like how there's also a food court where you could grab a quick lunch or dinner with a variety of Asian food and delicacies. It's conveniently located in the heart of Chinatown/ International District next to Seattle streetcar, Link light rail, and many bus stops.
Sid
I have visited one location near Portland, but this location had lots of things the Portland one doesn't!
Unfortunately they don't stock my favorite noodles (which have proven to be difficult to find anywhere!).
They have a nice pay to park area with validation if you spend 10 dollars.
Reilly Sheehan
Great selection of food, good looking produce and fish. Convenient food court and a Manga shop right inside! Have been only once but had a wonderful time shopping for new food/candy/books. :) Employees didn't seem to go out of their way for customers, but were polite enough.
Cameron LeNguyen
The best Uwajimaya to visit if you're a fan of Japanese food and goodies. Their big selection almost had all of the Japanese candies we missed from Japan! The bookstore is also really cool and worth checking out. The food court has plenty of options for a good lunch.
Sabin Dimitrov (Edinstvo)
This is such a super fun place. It is like you are entering a different country. The people there are fun and friendly and you have entered A whole New world. It is fun to go there. They have a huge comic book store and there is tons of stuff you can buy. So much good delicious Asian food and dishes. It is definitely a place of culture and a place where you can try out reasonably priced stuff. It really is a fun place to go. The people there are super helpful and very friendly. I definitely have lots of fun going there.
Alyxandria Watts
Very busy but they have a very wide range of products not traditionally offered at many chain supermarkets
Thomas Johnson
Awesome store with near everything you can need or imagine that is Japanese (and other Asian products as well). Hello Kitty Strawberry soda, random Kit-Kat flavors from Japan you will never find elsewhere, Coke in really strange flavors I've never seen before, an awesome food court, and a book/gift shop choc full of everything Japanese. It's an experience that you must experience. Lots of parking, which is validated with purchase.
Rob Gillespie
Great selection of foods. Quality produce, a bit pricier than other spots in the ID, but also better looking food. Love uajimaya. Love the new renovation. Much easier to fine what I need!
Hana Mona
They sell many stuff which I miss from Japan. Last time i was looking for some seasoning and I couldn’t find it. So I asked a person works there where is the item. I didn’t even know how can I explain him this item because I didn’t know the product name and he was really tried hard to figure out what I was looking for. It reminded me of customer service in Japan. It made me very happy and he found the item I was looking for!!!
I am glad he didn’t tell me “ We don’t have whatever you are looking for if you don’t see it” as other store tells you.
Risa K
This place has a great selection and some of them are on sale and really good deals. The rice of the rice balls was a little dry and hard, and different from what you get in Japan.
Marva Bright
Always crowded! Employees are helpful and check-out is fairly quick. Very fresh vegetables and fresh fish. They carry some unique items like oxtails. Yesterday they even had sea urchins. Overall a great experience with very fresh seafood items. It's worth a visit!
Fey Harkness
I love Uwajimaya but you can definitely feel the construction pains right now while they're updating. I think it will be great when it's finished and the staff have been wonderful and helpful but yeah, still pretty tough around the edges.
That being said, Uwajimaya is a great place to get a lot of Asian ingredients that you can't find elsewhere and a really good place to find local, quality meats at reasonable prices. After a trip to Japan last year, I find myself trying to recreate as many of the amazing dishes we had there as I can and Uwajimaya has everything I need.
James Mitchell
The store has great selection and is always packed because of it. I often find myself wandering in for a small snack or some high quality school supplies at one of the adjoining stores. They also boast one of the nicest public bathrooms in downtown Seattle. Would recommend the place to weekly shoppers and tourists looking for a pit stop alike.
Nicolas Chambon
Great choices, prices are not exagerated
A good place to do shopping !
Heather Hamilton
I always love coming here! Great food, great process, great gifts, great drinks, great hang out space, great atmosphere, and great location!
Seriously, everything here is amazing and so fun just to explore all the variety. Nearby is the stadiums, downtown, everything international district including museums, as well as the train station and major bus hub. Pioneer square is a short jaunt away as well.
Parking can be validated at the businesses in Uwajimaya. I love this place!
Ethan Clansky
My go to Asian supermarket for the Seattle downtown area. Good selection of Japanese and Chinese food, Korean, Japanese alcohol. Produce is a bit expensive but appears to be good quality. Prices are not as low as ranch 99 but there's no ranch 99 close to downtown.
Myles Vinh Farr
The Superior Asian supermarket. Arguably the best fish and seafood selection in Seattle. Their ready made foods are delectable. Furthermore, they have shown a strong response to Coronavirus, and have dedicated shopping times for at risk customers. All around positive experience shopping here.
S Bee
Mostly accessible (some entrances have stairs only). Huge market with a food court to sit and rest, bathrooms are there, code for the bathroom is 1001* (it's on signs all over the food court). Flat, even ground inside for exploring, ramp in the bookstore (Kunokuniya). People are very helpful, staff or not! It's also quite clean.
I love how many different cultures are represented in this store.
yeliz karadayi
Reliably stocked with everything I go there for. The produce is high quality and seems to be increasingly diverse in selection. There are a lot of convenient and attractive little kitchen trinkets and wares, which seem to occasionally update in style which is nice.
Brian East
Always high quality Asian goods. You do have to know your Asian food and brands though as price doesn't always translate to high quality. Seafood is great, rice crackers and seaweed selection unsurpassed anywhere I know of. It used to be mainly Japanese product but now it's all kinds of Asian. Highly recommend. Prices are moderate definitely not cheap. If you are a sushi fan and like ready made or make it yourself this is the place to shop.
Kevin Long
My favorite Asian market. The only place I can go for hard to find items as well as everything else I need. The book store has a lot of great finds, a large selection of writing supplies, manga and anime. Hungry? Try the deli, lots of choice and great trip to find things for the drive or ferry ride home. There is also Samurai Noodle and Boiling Point around the side of the building. Both great places.
Loraine Burnett
Great Asian dishes and other items.
Dok Sampson
Complete remodel inside. More open floor plan. Everything has moved 😅 took a while to find my favorite items. New food court, visible security #stopasianhate great experience in the new improved store! Mochico donuts!! …
Andreya Kennedy
I always have a good experience here. Employees are super nice and friendly and I've always received good service. There is many different places to eat in the food court and I honestly recommend them all!! I've never been disappointed. The market is large and has many treats I can't easy get elsewhere and the book store has much to offer as well. I always enjoy my time here!!
Divine Orisha
Very clean, and a vast variety of fresh seafood, and no raw odor in the seafood/delicacy area. Feels more like an open market than a grocery store. I just wandered around for over an hour, and would have stayed longer, to enjoy a fresh hot lunch from one of the awesome lunch spots, but will be back this week to do just that!
James
Love this place. The selections are great. The prepared foods are fresh, tasty and varied. The food court is good too. The meat and produce sections offer fresh selections. Since there the Asian market scene isn’t great in Portland this is where I usually buy things to bring back whenever I’m in Seattle.
Wayne H. Liang
One of the cleanest, nicest upscale Asian grocery stores I have ever been to. The place does not smell like fish! Specializes in Japanese items. Has a decent food court with wide selection. Prices on the higher side compared with other Asian grocers.
死宅吃你家大米了
Bit expensive, they said because it is imported from Japan. But Japan is colony of US military right?🤔 …
Erik Trygstad
Awesome Asian grocery store! Even of you don't buy anything it's fun to look around, lots of interesting goods, especially the fish/oysters/geoduck. But if you park there and spend $20 parking is free! 👍 Also, the food court has some great eats. …
Ting Ting Hsu
Great selection of asian foods and other products such as Japanese bowls and rice cookers
Katie G.
I love this store! So many great food items! Has a great section with ready-to-go dishes including sushi. Also has a small food court and an area with non-food items to purchase (rice cookers, cute dishes, etc). Parking is free if you purchase items at the store and get your ticket validated. It's done by how much you spend. $20 - one hour free, $30 - two hours free (I don't remember the exact amount, but it's something like that).
Jennifer Gruber
I'm used to the Uwajimaya in Bellevue. But this store has so much more room and variety. The prices can be steep compared to like a safeway. But if you need something for any kind of asian dish they have it. They also have a good variety of snacks and pre made hot foods.
Steve Smith
Best variety outside of Hawaii or Japan. Amazing.
Bobby Stein
Great Asian grocery store in the International District. Produce selection has a mix of American and Asian fruits and veggies. Meat and seafood are good quality. You can even get sushi grade fish if you want to enjoy sashimi at home.
There's also a food court along with a bookstore and kitchen supply section. You could literally spend hours here. (I definitely have.)
Prices are reasonable across the board, though expect to pay a little more for certain imported goods.
Typical American food is extra expensive here, so be prepared for mild sticker shock on things like bread and boxed goods.
Parking is only free if you spend in increments of $10, so watch the clock to avoid getting charged.
Take the family. It's worth the trip.
Ellie Sohn
Not much japanese snack. But sure had alot of items
Chris Wright
Fun grocery store. Can find some things that are hard to find elsewhere. Flavorful crunchy snacks. I tried some OG Asian energy drinks. The food court was my go-to, when I lived there. Ate many lunches from various eateries inside. Tasty food, lots of flavors to choose from. Some meals were a really good deal.
Christopher Lim (Listentochris)
This is an awesome Asian grocery store that is a Seattle institution. Really good selection of produce and seafood that you won't find at most places. There is also a great selection of japanese gifts and utensils. Also attached is a Japanese bookstore that is filled with awesome stuff and a good court. Some things are on the pricier side but everything is good quality.
ShihTzu Tricks
Love selection. The cafes in the food court are best deals in Chinatown district. You must check out the bookstore attached to north side of Uwajimaya. Fantastic japanese items in there. Deli and variety of items in this particular location is unmatched in Seattle. Parking is provided for up to 2 hours w/validation. Street parking is tough unless you are lucky.
yenchian lim
I load up on Asian frozen food like fishballs here, because they are hard to find elsewhere. The meat, seafood and vegetables are fresh and the best thing here is the thinly cut beef and pork that are delicious stir-fried, grilled or cooked in soup. It's worth making a trip here. There is an underground parking lot with an elevator heading right up to the shop floor, which is so convenient. The cooked food is very good. It can be hard to find a specific thing, so it's hard to shop quickly.
Jonathan Arevalo
Clean, orderly place, great customer service from the cashiers. God bless them and you reading this. It is a good place to shop at. They have great low prices on certain things, that other grocery stores would not. so make sure to look for them.
Roger Lee
Newly renovated! Very sapcious and clean. You can find all sorts of asian food here, including Korean, Japanese, and Chinese foods. They also validate parking ticket, ~$8 for an hour, ~$17 for 2 hours, very convenient.
Bella Rana
They renovated recently and it looks very nice! Tons of fun snacks, drinks, candies, and desserts like mochi. This is my go-to place to get ingredients any time I'm making any East Asian recipes. There's lots of good stores really close by (Daiso Japan Oasis Tea Zone, etc.), and several cool parks/outdoors areas (Kobe Terrace, Hing Hay Park, UPS Waterfall Garden), so it's a really good area. One of my favorite places to go around Seattle!
Ashton Gearhart
Great place for a plethora of amazing products including food, beauty, and home goods. The produce is always amazing, it has a pretty extensive food court, and the bookstore attached is so quaint and cute. Only gripe is that the security officers are super aggressive- usually they’re not an issue, but one of them follows me around every time he sees me and it’s very uncomfortable and intimidating. Yesterday I watched three of them sprint and tackle a guy stealing a Fiji water- god forbid they ever think I’m stealing something, because I fear for my safety.
Jeffrey Walker
Best big chain asian market in Seattle! Has a wide selection of items from China, South Asia, South Pacific, South Korea and Japan. Packaged food, fresh seafood, frozen food, candy, fresh vegetables, oils and sauces...etc. The remodel is almost done! The entire grocery area feels so open and easily navigable :D!!! Go to Uwajimaya its great and come hungry , the food court is well worth a trip by itself!
Davidoff Lewis
Well, my previous review was before the massive remodel. This is a superstore from BBQ, a food court, so much lunch or meals on the go, frozen foods, large frozen fish and seafood, fresh blocks of blue fin, other sashimi, various sea urchin plus huge fresh life varieties, sushi, pastries, cosmetics, kitchen supply, a huge sake case, expanded fish counter, several big tanks of popular oysters. The produce as you enter from the parking lot is beautifully displayed facing the Southern windows but I seldom splurge on any fruit or veggie.
T J
Perfect Asian Store nestled on the corner next to the train station. There is a grocery store and a bunch of restaurants. Some of them are expensive but a few are reasonably priced. The food is really good and worth every penny. They give generous portions as well. It is very clean and nicely decorated. I just wish there was an ice cream shop inside.
Val G
Fun store with a ton of variety! They also have a dinning area to eat from a few restaurants in the store. Lots of gift and household items. I just wish they had someone in the store who taught cooking lessons, or at least told you how to prepare the food. Free validated parking.
D Sawyer
It you haven't been to Uwaji in a few years, the layout has changed, but it seems to make seasonal and popular items easier to grab. Otherwise, a lot of my favorite items are still available and the staff is helpful where they can be.
For me, the last trip there was just for fun and I still spent about $90. Got some amazing sake (Sakai brand Yuzu sake: ~$38, but worth it if you like sweet, citrus-flavored alcohol) and also every type of new Kitkat that they had. Often during spring there are a bunch of fun new types, so my family goes wild when we know they are available and buy a bunch.
So far we have opened the bag of Melon (cantalope-flavored), Nescafe, Milk Tea, Summer Ice Cream, and Wheat Biscuit flavor Kitkats. We've still got a few more to try from this haul. The flavors are sweeter than usual Kitkats (IMO), but really fun to try! (And at about $5 a bag, though, they are a bit expensive - but for a limited-time, imported snack, it's understandable.)
Bonne Holbrook
Great selection of produce, seafood, meats and necessary ingredients and tools for just about any Asian cuisine. Staff are friendly and helpful. They also carry Fran's Chocolates and have a lovely assortment of teas.
Rhaimonde Suggs
It is totally unique, nearby and neighborly. I live four blocks away from the store and find the mouth-watering delicious selections available daily on the steam table to be irresistible. I think the fish mongers to be the best this side of the Pike Place Market and again, much closer to home. My Asian foods condiments shelf is always well stocked and I couldn't get a more exotic or fresher produce selection anywhere. Even Martha Stewart herself paid a visit and did a feature on her TV show and in her magazine.
Lucas Atencio
I love this grocery store. It has great produce, good meat and a ton of other options. There is free parking. It is connected to a book store. The prepared food is great. The service is nice. The only downside to this grocery store is that everyone loves it. It can be a test of will on weekend afternoons.
Cameron Knox
This is the quintessential Asian grocery store.
I come here about once a week to re-up on my Asian groceries. Prices are a bit high, but you end up making the trip worth it if you're buying everything you need at once (instead of going to multiple locations).
The section for cosmetics has great prices, and great sales. If you don't know any Asian languages (I speak and read Japanese) you jay have some difficulty in the cosmetics section.
A Hesitant Traveler
Store was very clean with extensive selection including fresh fish, deli and a food court in the hallway. The looks from the outside are deceiving, this is a very large and comprehensive Asian grocery store just a half block from the Link train.
Ian Grossberg
Amazing grocery, hard not to find what you need.
Not only does it do an amazing job of collecting Japanese ingredients and grocery items but it's got a good amount of Chinese, some Korean, a little Indian and South East Asian items!
And they stock the gambit quality wise, from the lower end sketchy stuff to the organic and thoughtful quality food items.
And for a place with such coverage already they have a nice fresh seafood section!
Plus the folks that work there are super nice :)
James WA
Cool place. Everything at the book store is in Japanese so I couldn't read it. It was super fun to see different products which you can't find in a normal grocery store. The selection was endless. There were a lot of weird foods, like dehydrated fish skin. Yuck.
Nguyen Tong
Arguably one of the best Japanese grocery store in the Pacific Northwest. They serve many imported Japanese goods from snacks, bakery, noodles, to household items. If you're a Japanese culture fanatic, you could certainly live your best life here. My favorite part about the place is the Japanese bookstore that's attached to the place.
Brian Jones
An amazing variety of offerings. From a wide range of foods to unique personnel products. Great staff! The interior could use a remodel, it's a bit time worn. Very small parking lot. To be honest, the property is surrounded by construction, making it difficult to park.
Sunrise Aloha
It has been several years scince I last visited Uwajimaya Flagship Store in Chinatown International District. Wanted a change of pace and some Asian lunch. The shopping experience has not changed and the market was bustling as usual. The variety of fresh produce is always interesting. They have a great selection of rices. Lunch was fresh, clean large portions. Uwajimaya flagship needs a makeover/ update! The food court area has seen better days. It's popularity makes it difficult to find the space to sit and eat. It's pretty run down but the food is great. Overall I love the flagship store but it needs more space and a makeover!
D. Lo
Excellent store for almost all your Asian Cuisine needs. I came there for daikon radishes today. Real tasty and real good for you. You should try it. Almost a super vegetable. The cashier was real courteous and I enjoy the vast selection of noodles there....
Peace
This place is great! Food market has a delicious variation of food, though Noodle Zen is the one I go to when I go up here. The book store is great and filled with manga collectables, and the food market is diverse in selection too! I like the numerous types of ramen they have. The employees are also really nice. All-around good experience here!
J Johnson
I always love going to this place, because they have a little bit of everything from the full spectrum of Asian foods, plus numerous other shopping opportunities in one location. If you want Japanese books, fancy booze, toys, etc that you won't find at most other stores in Washington, this is the place for you. Check out the food court for lunch.
Paula Townsend
This store is awesome!!! We love to go there and they have items that you can't get at any other stores. Plus they have a nice food court that is reasonably priced. If you've never been there you're missing out, I would recommend going there whether you're a Seattle resident or just visiting!
Dori Soup
Great selection of Asian groceries, and beauty care products. The poke is delicious but usually runs out by 6pm so get your bowl early. There is a food court inside too. Lots of seating available so you can grab a plate and chow down right there.
Jeef Chandra
What a lovely Asian grocery store and food court! I came here to buy a rice cooker and was immediately impressed by their selection of Asian grocery items from Japan, Korea, China, and much more. The food court also has a great selection at an affordable price. Do yourself a favor and come down here👌🏾 …
David Liang
Great market with lots of food!
Alyssa Jackson
Uwajimaya is such a great place to visit and shop! The food market is filled with great dining options, I ate the Hawaiian and it was so good! The gift shop section is packed with interesting items that anyone would like. The grocery part has so much stuff that is probably hard to get elsewhere, there's so so many aisles! I ended up here because of a train delay (it's right across the street), and I'm honestly glad the train got delayed so I could visit Uwajimaya.
Velvet Humphres
Constantly crowded and totally worth it. It’s got the best prices for Asian food/snacks and I always stop here when in Seattle. The bookstore also has an amazing selection of manga, stationary, and more. Located conveniently next to king street station so it is easy to access public transportation to other parts of the city. I look forward to my next visit!
Melissa R.
I do most of my grocery shopping here. I can always find a reasonable price for vegetables and Asian products. Parking can be a nightmare in the top lot but I can always find a spot in the garage. Fun place to explore if you’re in the ID.

I love the book store. It's big and had a little something for my Cambodian friends that I consider my family. The store has the most beautiful kimonos I have ever seen but I wish the kimonos were cheaper. The food court is comfortable, cozy, and filled with the best foods.
Atari Betamax
Parking is free if you make a purchase, over 10$ I think. Steam table is great sometimes but the worst others. Some prices on goods are really inflated yet others are reasonable. The have many hard to find items in one place, I guess that's worth the extra monies. Seafood and vegetables are nice. Staff are nice. Their book store is amazing.
Elliott Spencer
One of the best grocery stores in the city. Especially their produce, fish and fresh meat/poultry. Friendly staff and there are also really yummy food vendors inside - the 'beard papas' cream puff stand is an institution.
Erin Bishop
I love this Super Market. It's Asian focus is what makes it stand apart from the others. It's tea selection is diverse. The amount of seafood is also a selling point for going there. I highly recommend it for anyone with a love for the far east.
Sam Van Ginhoven
All the Japanese ingredients you could ever ask for! There is an amazing selection of just about everything, not just Japanese products but Korean, Chinese and so on. The store also has a Kinokuniya (Japanese bookstore) located inside which is nice. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it as a nice selection of books, magazines, and stationary supplies.
Vivienne Moore (Vi)
I freaking love this place! 95% of all you need to make most asian inspired meals. Only place in Seattle that I think tops this place is asian family market on aurora. That's if you looking for strictly asian based foods.
Ashley Hoff
Uwajimaya is a great store. They have a excellent selection of of goods, reasonable prices, and a lovely food court. They are getting a beautiful makeover and are attached to an amazing bookstore. I usually eat Samurai Noodle just outside, browse Kinokuniya, then get my Japanese snack fix on the way out.
pramana gogineni
Love this huge Asian grocery store! Has a large selection of almost anything you can think of. Fresh meats, seafood, vegetables, bakery, and lots more. Very close to downtown Seattle. Parking is convenient during the weekdays. Also has a place for home supplies, stationary, cutlery, and cosmetics. It's a mini-mart in there. Staff is friendly.
Devon Anderson
This place is incredible! They've got a plethora of asian cuisine and ingredients that you'd be hard pressed to find elsewhere; as well as a bookstore that is quite enjoyable to wander through. There's also a food court inside if you decide you'd like to take a break and grab something to eat.
Zane Exactly
Always worth stopping here if you're in the area. Lots of great ready-to-eat food. Awesome grocery store. Lots of cool gifts and house stuff. So much good candy. Best place in town to get Sake. Lots of reasons to go here!
Bernard Dahilig
Its a touristy destination and with tourist traps prices are marked up the yin yang. Its an alrite place when you need something fast and on the go however that said, venture off the beaten path and explore the whole of Chinatown/International District and you will find smaller markets that sell fresh produce far from the high mark up costs that Uwajimaya has.
Tammanoa
One of my favorite shops in all of Washington. There's a huge variety of foods with something new everytime I have visited. Uwajimaya carries my favorite sushi and miso supplies. As well as all the hard to find ramen varieties. The kitchen section is top notch. The variable temperature water heater i purchased here is my most used appliance. The ready made food alone makes this store worth the trip. Uwajimaya has everything from beauty products to craveable sweets.
Kristina Scholtz
Amazing to experience such a huge variety of flavors. Great atmosphere, new and different foods to try. I love to shop different enthic stores. Everything from basic milk and eggs to exotic wagu beef to obscure chopsticks. This is a fun adventure that has a lot of various food stalls as well regular grocery store stuff. Parking is free with validation.
Jason Dempsey
This is the place to get most Asian food (the bent tends to be toward Japanese). The food court is excellent. The bookstore is pretty through. If you like ceramics like rice bowls, they have one of the better selections.
Dan Ammon
This is the quintessential Japanese market in Seattle. They have groceries, gifts, all kinds of live fish, a food court. Lots of sake, sushi rice, and other traditional Japanese goodies. We love to go here to get sushi making supplies or just to get our favorite snacks. They even sell rice cookers and other small appliances. I always look forward to coming here.
Kenneth Hoffmann
Been to Japanese supermarkets all over the world and this is probably one of the best one I’ve seen!
Alicia Adelman
Uwajimaya has a HUGE selection of unique asian food, a wide array of fresh fish for sale, and has pretty reasonable prices for their goods. I've had their fresh poke numerous times and it's on par with poke I've gotten in Hawaii! I'm never disappointed and always look forward to going to Uwajimaya!
scalwayzhere4u
Great to see the remodeled store. It's been a while since I have visited and it's always awesome. The produce was fresh, bake goods looked delicious and of course the health and personal product section well stocked.
YY Zhang
A good selection of Japanese and Asian items and grocery. Quite pricy. Good for shopping once in a while if you have any specific item to shop for in mind.
Viren Aggarwal
If you love food and especially Asian food, this is the place for you. Lots of exotic stuff for non Asians, but if you are a food lover, you won’t feel out of place. There is a good selection of Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Thai, Indonesian and other foods. Discover fresh seafood, produce, noodles and a variety of sauces. I buy my hard tofu from here and hard to find vegetables and fruits.
just pic
Good Asian store. It has seafood, meat, utensils.
Checkout counter seems to be a bit out of place. Good store and reasonable rates.
But didn't see good deal of precautions being taken during the covid19 crisis. Hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes should have been placed near the cart.
Other than that, everything was good. Good varieties of veggies were available. Very few stores have this much variety of vegetables.
Danielle Stevens
They always have things I need and can not get in Yakima. All staff is so nice and helpful and the fresh live seafood is wonderful. Gene in seafood had our live crabs packaged so we could travel back to Yakima with them. And parking is free for over an hour while you shop and eat. Love it there
Sam Felton
Good selection of "fast food" that's really more like urban Asian street-food. Plus, you can pick up some dinner fixings at Uwajimaya while there. Don't go during peak lunch-rush, though, unless you are ordering to-go; it's a zoo and you won't get a seat.
Ryan “R.E. Ross”
I find all the best bottled and jarred sauces here. I found an amazing szechuan sauce here and keep looking for more. Honestly, I think it may have been a one off but the employees always are kind and helpful when I return (from New Mexico) to look for more. Also, the best selection of tofu!
Sharn Kung
This is one of the cleanest markets I've ever been to! The selection of produce is immense and they also have a huge section of fresh meats and seafood. You truly can find most of what you need here. Just outside if the market is also a couple of stores that sell household goods as well as a food court that has a bunch of smaller shops.
Talon Windwalker
Such a great store! Great quality foods and very reasonable prices. Quick and easy checkout.
Bethany Sano
Crowded, but we still had a great time!
Chris Postnikoff
We stopped by while passing through the city on our way up to Canada. Our cousins (Japanese) suggested it and we are glad we went. There is so incredibly much to choose from, everything from authentic Japanese sauces we can buy back home in Tokyo all the way to locally made authentic Japanese pastries. We can't wait to return!
Junior Hernandez
Some items are a little expensive compare to other Asian markets. However, there are wide varieties and selections on a lot of food products. It's a cool cultural experience. I love how it has a mall vibe, because of little stores and restaurants in this.
Evan Newton
Uwajimaya is my favorite place to shop in in Seattle. Period. I love their selection and prices. Really good seafood and produce. I've loved their smoked salmon onigiri since I was a kid; it always makes me feel better!
JebidiahMann
We stopped in for vegetables and they had a great fresh selection. We also had some hot food for lunch and they had the best roast duck we have ever had. That in itself is worth a trip back. Plus free parking if you bring your receipt to the customer service.
Dorothy Blakesley
Been going here for 15 years, they have the best produce and meat departments in the city. Far cheaper than QFC or Safeway, but far better quality in those departments. They also have anything you need to make Asian and Hawaiian foods, but not a lot of American food, and what they do have is definitely a bit expensive. Go there for the things they do great, as described, go elsewhere for cheaper staples like flour, sugar, or American frozen food. They also have a great food court, (with Beard Papa cream puffs, and Thai, Japanese, Chinese, etc. food stalls), gift shop area and amazing Asian bookstore. You can find awesome, unique gifts for people here. They also have a great local chocolate selection and souvenirs for tourists or family visiting Seattle.
Anna White
So many foods to choose from! Love the bakery with all the selections, especially the Filipino food!! The restaurants are so delicious. From mochi donuts to Hawaiian entres to a buffet where you just pick whatever your belly tells you it wants. Very unique store with so much to offer.
Ming Chan
A large asian grocery market with lots of variety and with prestine looking goods. Very fresh produce and seafood w/ fish, crabs, lobsters, even prawns swimming around in tanks. Shellfish were also very fresh.
Gwendolyn Hannam
It's a supermarket that has almost all your needs. The seafood is delicious and fresh, too! My only complaints are the occasional high prices and the fresh produce; I've gotten vegetables here on multiple occasions and after one or two days, it's molding... Go for the dry staples & seafood, and get the fresh veggies elsewhere.
Alex Loumos
Excellent supermarket focused on a wide variety of Asian cuisine and brands. Good accessibility with plenty of parking which is able to be validated with purchase. Attached food court and bookstore provide wide selection of other shopping options.
Jon Abulencia
Cute grocery store just a step away from the Chinatown station. Service from the associates there is wonderful, and everyone knows where anything you might desire is. Just outside the registers are a great selection of small Asian eateries.
Alex
The best Asian grocery store, and a very good grocery store in itself. Pretty complete selection of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino food items and seasonings. They also have organic chicken and grass fed beef available. Prices are very competitive. Also have some housewares and teapots/etc Japanese style. Also serve prepared foods. The back of the store has a mini-food court. Parking is free if validated.
Carla Huaylla Castillo
This is the best Uwajimaya I have been to. The produce is fresh and the produce guy was really helpful with all my concerns. The meat department is also good and not over priced. There are tons of chocolate brands to pick from. I love this place!!!
Celiac Death
Really great variety offered here, and excellent service. Tons of gluten free ingredients and prepared food. Most packages have English labels, if not- customer service is very helpful in translating and showing you to a gluten free option.
John Chen
5 stars for quality, 3 stars for price.
Ger D C
We love going here to shop whenever we're here in Seattle. Also, we enjoy the food at the court.
Dan K Chen
This store has a large selection of grocery from Taiwan, Japan, Korea. China... and more. They also have a nice selection of pre-made foods such as bums, sushi, poke, bread ... and much more. There is also a food court around the back side of the store. The store lighting is a little dim, aisles are a little tight, some section looks old and outdated (restroom)
Allen Aquino
Its like any other Asian grocery store to me, so bothers me is this weird sense that its a tourist destination because of how Japanese and 'exotic' alot of the stock is. I'm just glad I'm able to find some really good items at a very convenient location. The prices are reasonable and the store is fairly well stocked with everything I need for a number of Asian dishes I make.
Chris Spurlock
Not only is Uwajimaya a great place to get Asian grocery items you can't get other places, they also have a book store and a food court. While it can get pretty busy it is located closely to public transit and there is a parking lot on site that I think they validate for. There are also apartments, apparently, but I don't know anything about those.
Alison Hendricks
This is the spot for Asian and local produce, meats, staples, snacks, grab & go prepared foods! Lots of variety and types of products, including Pacific Island foods. There’s also a busy food court. Parking is available in an attended lot; your grocery receipt will pay for the fee. (No stadium parking!) There’s also housing on-site above the store, for those who choose residence in our historical International District.
Thomas Pierce
Lots of good deals here if you keep your eyes open! You can definitely be fleeced, though. Overall an amazing store with lots of items you can't get easily at other places. Really fun to walk around in and hunt for ~exotic Asian goods.
Micheal Linke
Largest Asian market and specialty selections. Friendly staff and easy place to move around and enjoy. Excellent food selections.
Thuong Nguyen
A great Asian groceries and much more. Mainly Japanese, stuff but they also have Filipino, Vietnamese, and other ethnic items. The food court is great too (as of this writing it's still under remodeling so it has limited offerings)
Shawn K.
It's a great place to get ethnic foods. Prices are a bit high but the food is good. There is a fairly large Asian market where you can find a diverse section of foods and products. I like the salmon and ahi poke that are for sale, they are fairly close to the poke from Hawaii.
Rachele Kelly
My wife and I love to go here! It is so much more than just a grocery store. Inside there is also a small household items section (mostly kitchen type things) as well as a bookstore! Our favorite thing is to grab a bunch of snacks we don't know and try them out at home.
Jasmine Clemons
It's an awesome Oriental based market. It has some every day items but it is where you can find anything from that part of the world. I didn't know that there was restaurants in there. To see that so many is there is amazing. It also has some other shops in the front of the store. I didn't give it a 5 because of the layout of the store. It's stuff all over the place. It reminds me of the hoarders show. Because of all the merchandise everywhere it's really difficult to navigate through the store some of it merchandise and the rest is the people that refuse to let you by. Other than the clusterf<€k, it's a awesome place. It's a little pricey but the quality is worth it. The guy at the meat counter was awesome. I will recommend anyone to go there. I will be returning to the store.
Stephen Liu
Has a wide range of Asian food and has this neat little bookstore. Amazing stuff you can find there
Rachele McKelly
This store is amazing! The first Jack Fruit I saw in real life, tons of Asian food. My wife and I like to grab random snacks that we have never eaten before and do a fun tasting at home rating each one. Every product I have looked at has a label for us English-speaking folks who don't understand the packaging.
Rob Woodcox
I love Uwajimaya! This unique Asian market in Seattle provides a wealth of culture from various parts of Asia, including a grocery story, souvenir shops, and a food court. I’ve found a few really unique gifts here and the food is great as well. I always find what I’m looking for when I’m traveling through. Enjoy your time exploring what Uwajimaya has to offer!
Murray Hill
Great Japanese market. Nice selection of whole fish, fish for sashimi or sushi, meats for sukiyaki or shabushabu, and all staples.
Wren Lee
I love Uwajimaya. They have the Village part which is a bunch of different foods. Imagine my surprise when I see a Bearded Papa (a shop I haven't seen in years since I left Florida!) And they have a variety of foods here. Not only Japanese food but also Hawaiian and Korean BBQ. I love that they supply a variety of goods. The place itself doesn't seem super clean, but it's tidy and organized. L
Mariána Kizer
I make a point to stop in every time I'm in the area. They have everything from food to clothes. If you like the Japanese and Chinese cultures, you will find all sorts of amazing things here. I particularly like to shop the import candy and try something new or venture into the produce and grab some rare fruit.
Thomas Kim
The bookstore is always fun.
Deborah Scherer
Simply the best all-in-one Asian Market. I have shopped here for years. Accept no substitutes! Be sure to visit the "live seafood" section and pick up some amazing Filipino bread from Delight Bakery.
