Reviews of Mendoza's Mexican Mercado
grew up in LA eating street tacos in south central. lol i have lived in oaxaca, MX for a summer too. i was pretty disappointed by the mexican food scene here in seattle and generally i still think it could be better closer to the city (white center and some of the suburbs are pretty legit).
all that said, this place is as mexican as they come. i haven’t bought any grocery products here but they have it all — sodas, different types of cheese, spices and dried chiles, bakery display with conchas, etc. the food is where it’s at. i love eating here and their hot food entrees are the light of my life on those cold short PNW winter days. nothing like their mexican tunes on blast and their slow cooked stews & beans when your fingers and soul are frozen by this city. but i rarely find myself in the area. when i am up around aurora/green lake and i want mexican, there is nowhere else i would rather go (sorry, frelard. maybe i’ll give you another shot one day when i’m over this place.)
Very cute store, nice displays and really nice owners. Picked up some carnitas and freshly made tortillas along with Favoritos sodas. Will be back to get more of the goods!
Excellent food and service. The fresh cheese is a no-miss, and if you’re lucky you’ll get to chat a bit with the owner. Don’t forget to pick a free Children’s book on your way out. A local gem overall.
Carlos and Sonia are my favourite and most fun store owners in Seattle area. If you want that mom and pop biz feeling (though they're young entrepreneur) ... come here! If you want tasty food... come here! If you want Mexican dry goods and fresh produce... hurry on! Try their homemade carnitas, menudo, tamales, chicarones... also get the crunchy chapulines for my fellow foodies! Oh, I never leave the store without the queso fresco, either.
When visiting Seattle family from Walla Walla, they asked me to cook some Mexican food. We're spoiled in Eastern Washington with a plethora of good Mexican markets, and this place is on par. A rarity on the west side (in my opinion). The staff was also wonderful! I will be back for sure.
I don't normally write reviews, but these guys blew me away. Great little market, the best tacos I've had in the Pacific Northwest yet, price is beyond fair(impressively affordable). Dude went above and beyond for my tiny purchase, made it a pleasant experience. I'd give 6 stars if I could, keep up the good work!
UPDATE: Get the TACOS guys, I'd do it everyday if my girlfriend would let me. I tried a tamale too and it was good, but the tacos are so ridiculously perfect, like my own family made it. The tortillas, the dressings(onions cilantro limes), the meats. I would serve these tacos at my wedding.
Tacos better than 'authentic' places we have been in LA, San Diego, etc. My Mexican fiancee refuses to eat anywhere else for Mexican food other than here.
And they also have everything you need for cooking at home!
We got a Thanksgiving turkey from here and are catering our wedding from here. Thanks Mendozas!
Great little market and restaurant. Pozole, tamales, and tacos were outstanding and super friendly staff.
(Oct-2020)I went on Saturday when they have birria and barbacoa tacos.
The meat was clean and delicious, and I have to be honest, their salsas are the best in the area tasty and spicy (these salsas leave you wishing more). The tacos are a good size and well prepared. I really recommend trying them, If you like something authentic and good quality
They have a ton of Mexican specific snacks and foods. If you’re looking for a certain Mexican candy, they more than likely have it! Also, they have meat to be cooked in case you wanna have a carne asada, but if you’re in a time crunch, they also have prepared food! Super good and the portions are great!
This is such a great place! I go there at least twice a week for the amazing food and experience. It feels like I'm back in Mexico. They sell a bunch of imported products like pinatas, molcajetes, and tortilla presses. They have fresh groceries like cilantro, avocados, and cactus. Meat in a butcher case like chorizo, adobado, and al pastor. They have a case of Mexican cookies, 4 homemade salsas, and best of all they have a deli case of homemade food like carnitas, pozole on Saturdays, chicharrones, birria, and something new everyday and it's all amazing! From mole chicken to pork with cactus to a whole head of a cow! It's so good! It's a husband and wife and they're so nice!
What a great find! Popped in here today to pick up some dried chilis that I had a hard time finding elsewhere, but found so much more. The cashier was friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to trying Mendoza's hot food options-- the place smelled incredible.
an unassuming small grocery/convenience store, but tucked away in the back is a meat counter that offers meat by the pound, but even more remarkable are the tacos.
we tried one each of the goat, lamb, and beef's head taco. they came in a compostable container with spicy salsa on the side and cilantro and red onion on top. they were juicy, flavorful, and messy! on top of a reasonable price, these were everything I look for in a taco
it's a great spot for fresh tacos, and an excellent stop on the way to or from Greenlake
Amazing staff and delicious chicharrones! Great prices! I will definitely be coming here again! Check it out!!🔥🔥 …
Very nice people! Great selection!
I was delighted to find bulk bins of dried chilies, all of excellent quality and freshness. I'll come back to stock up! It was also very nice to find a meat counter, prepared salsas and other deli products, and a little lunch counter. The hot food was very good and a generous bowl of posole on a cold winter's day made shopping a pleasure. I'm looking forward to visiting again.
Great shop and very friendly staff! I found guava candy. The atmosphere is so fun and bright. I always enjoy stopping in.
Love this place, good selection of ingredients and very tasty prepared food, and totally friendly, helpful service. I drive from West Seattle to come here every ~month or so, it's one of the best Mexican markets I've found in the Seattle area.
Fresh tortillas, marinated meat, Mexican grocery. Se habla Español. Friendly, positive atmosphere.
Friendly with an excellent assortment of homemade tortillas and salsas. I'm looking forward to going back.
Love Mendoza’s, I get all my dried chiles, hot sauce, pozole, mole and all my Colombian goodies. For anyone wondering where to get baked Colombian goods like buñuelos, empanadas, arepas and pan de bono (same as pan de queso), they carry these in the frozen section. Added bonus, Carlos is a sweetheart and will go out of his way to help you find or order whatever you need.
One of the best family owned Latino stores in Seattle. They also sell warm food for take out or to eat there. They also have popular Latino groceries, a small fresh produce section, and they participate in the Fresh Bucks program and they take EBT
Great little Mexican market! Has a little bit of everything making it a nice one stop shop for a quick meal. On a busy street but they have parking (big plus)! Currently in love with their chorizo. Can't wait to try more of their stuff.
The best Mexican market in Fayetteville! Mendoza's is a small family owned place with a large variety of high quality poduce, nonperishable/refrigerated stapled, fresh tortillas and pastries, candy, drinks, etc at a much lower price than any supermarket. The only thing they dont have currently is fresh meat, but aside from that I can't recomend this market enough
Actual Latin market and restaurant. I'm so happy. As a latina new to the area, I've been missing home ever since... This place makes me a little less homesick every visit. Everything is on point if you're looking for actual Mexican food.
Small family convenience store specialized in Mexican ingredients. They also have great authentic food with fair prices and big portions. Come for great tacos, pozole and menudo. This is real Mexican, so forget about chips and salsa or burritos.
The owner is very friendly. The food he makes is outstanding. Buy the meats he marinades himself, like el pastor. Yesterday I bought the dried cured chorizo, I was a little skeptical but when my family ate it, it blew our minds how good it is. I will definitely be buying this more often. Also, you can get epizote here! Make Rick Bayless's red chili seafood soup. It is delicious. Also, if you like spicy salsa, get the green or red house made salsa. They have flavor and heat. I love Mendoza's!!!!!
Fresh pork lard, excellent in my tamales! Worth the trip. Can't believe I almost used the hydrogenated stuff off the shelf!
One stop shopping for all your Mexican food needs. The store offers a Meat shop with Mexican staples like Chorizo and Moronga. It is also a restaurant and a well stocked grocery store complete with Fresh tortillas, Piñatas, Roscas de Reyes, and Pan de Muerto (when in season).
THIS PLACE HAS THE BEST SERVICE IN TOWN, THE ONWERS ARE SO POLITE AND VERY HONEST I FEEL WELCOME EVERYTIME I WALK IN THERE. THE PLACE IS ALWAYS CLEAN AND SMELLS REALLY GOOD. FOOD WISE IT'S ALSO THE BEST IN THE NORTHWEST FRESH AND COOK EVERYDAY, I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR LUNCH, DINNER OR EVEN FOR A SPECIAL OCASION THEY ARE JUST GREAT! AND HAVE IMPACTED THE COMUNITY WITH THEIR PRODUCTS AND FRESHNESS. I WILL ALWAYS COME BACK THERE THANK YOU GUYS FOR YOUR SERVICE..
Small place but great selection.
this place has great specials on the weekend. cooked meat ready to take home and throw in a tortilla. the marinade and slow cook is soooo good! cheap produce too!
Great little market and they even have Colombian products like arepa mix, bunuelos, empanadas, maracuya to make juice. Great customer service
One of the best mexican places near downtown Seattle. Menudo and tamales are the best here! Sonia and Carlos are the most friendly people ever!
Wonderful food. Delicious. The best food in the world. I take my daughter to that place and she says she loves it so much!😍💖 …
It's a must go!! They have some of the best Menudo, tacos de carnitas and chile rellenos.
Delicious food and a wonderful and well-stocked market.
Best flan in town!
Excellent Mexican grocery store and kitchen that prepares home-made meals. Nopales, quesos, cremas, tamales, salasas ... all great.
Nice little shop. The owner went out of his way to order a product for me, held it for me until I could pick it up days late. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Every food here is amazing, I love this place :) Authentic mexican food, great variety and the service is awesome.
Awesome food and excellent service. They also sell great products all at a very reasonable price.
The owner is super friendly and had just what I needed no questions asked.... the atmosphere is pleasing and fair priced item. Very helpful

Great selection of dried chili's and other hard to find ingredients
Cornerstone carniceria of the north end. Good spot for some quick carnitas tacos as well.
