Reviews of Choice Deli & Grocery
I’m not in the area of Ballard where Choice Deli is, but since I was in the area I stopped by. I’ve heard they do a great job with teriyaki, so I got a spicy chicken teriyaki combo to go. The place itself is nice. I’m not certain, but I think this place has been here for a while but they renovated it recently. There are tables to sit at inside and you order at the front counter. The place is a store and restaurant. They also sell beers on tap. They have a wide variety of wine and beer and their grocery section isn’t too bad either. Back to the food, the wait wasn’t too long and it feels shorter if you’re looking for stuff to buy. I’ve gotta say their teriyaki is legit. The spicy teriyaki was definitely on the spicier side and it tasted great. The chicken was cooked properly and the rice was tender as well. The gyoza were nicely deep-fried and the side salad with cabbage had the necessary Japanese salad dressing. I’m glad I visited and I hope to go back soon.
Best teriyaki since Teriyaki 1st, shoutout that place.
This place does not look like a teriyaki restaurant, but they absolutely kill it. Manage to have a killer selection of beer as well. Amazing.
I’ve never been here, but a trustworthy friend told me that this is the best teriyaki joint in all of Seattle. And he’s not one to lie, so you should eat here.
The chicken Katsu burger is out of this world!!! An absolute must try. Everything else is great as well but i cant get enough of that burger. :) they also have roughly 30 top notch beers on tap. Great place.
Awesome staff, awesome food, awesome corner store beer and grocery selection!
I love this place. Not sure it’s worth going out of the way to get to, but if you live in the area this should be your go to teriyaki and beer/wine shop. The food is good, lots of options for your beverage, friendly staff, enjoyable music and a decent place to sit outside and enjoy your purchases.
This place has great potential. Good food (at least the spicy chicken teriyaki that I had), good beer lineup, and interesting layout inside. The only thing that might make this place from becoming a really good spot is there always seems to be a sketchy person or people hanging out either in the parking lot or in the store. At least that is what it seems like from my 3 or 4 visits. Not to be too much of a snob but that kind of thing can keep customers away and ruin a business. I'll probably give it another try or two though since I live so close and it has a lot going for it.
This place is an absolute gem. It used to be a corner store I went to out of convenience, but since their remodel, I still come back although I no longer live in the neighborhood. Their teriyaki is dank and their wide drink selection allows me to try something new every time. Staff is always friendly and helpful, and the occasional heavy metal music is the cherry on top of it all for me. The vibe of Choice is unusual for sure, but its unique personality is something I’ve come to cherish in this city where most bars overexert themselves in an attempt to be trendy.
The teriyaki here is amazing. People are cool too.
I've been coming to Choice Deli & Grocery for years because they have always had cheap beer and snacks. They have stepped up their game in a big way. Completely renovated with seating to drink and eat in store, plus a HUGE tap list, with the best prices in the area, seriously local micro brews for as low as $4.00. AND really freaking good food. Best soba and katsu around, and the portions are massive! The staff are super friendly and are in the know with all the new taps and beer offerings. These guys know what's up! As it has always been, Choice is a must stop for the best prices around for local beers, and now it's even better! Love this place!
They were playing either Dio or Ozzy as I walked in, which was an instant great impression for me!
I instantly felt like I was in a bar (but with rows of snacks), and I love the selection of groceries they have. This is one of those places I've been ignoring for months, even though I live right down the street from them. I will definitely make this my One Stop Shop for goodies! So glad I finally remembered to check them out.
If you want some great beer with some great food, mixed with some great rock music, this is the place for you!
Really good food. Probably the best teriyaki in Ballard. The only problem I have is getting them to answer the phone so I can place an order. It's worth the trouble to save the $1-$3 PER DISH that you are charged by clicking the "Order Online" button that goes through PostMates.
This is a very convenient store. It has just about anything you could think of plus decent teriyaki. There is ample outdoor seating, which in Seattle can be hard to find. When you walk in to the right you have your munchies. Plenty of treats, drinks, and frozen items. To the left you have your alcoholic selections. Beer, cider, you name it they have it more than the average corner store. There is indoor seating as well as a bar which you can order flights of whatever they have on tap. The workers are always friendly and you can usually count of a 15 minute prep time for teriyaki despite busy hours.
Super sweet workers and some of the best authentic Korean fried chicken you can get for 8 bucks, I recommend giving this place a visit for not just convenience store needs, but a good meal too.
Good teriyaki, really good Korean fried chicken, and very cheap beers on draft ($4-$5 a pint).
I crave the teriyaki here all the time. Their chicken wings and gyoza are great too, katzu is less stellar but still fine. The beer selection is always changing-I can’t wait until they open up the outside tables and maybe more food options!
NOT your typical convenience store anymore! They did a fantastic job remodeling. Delicious teriyaki, yakisoba, and hoagies. Espresso and beautiful desserts made in-house! AND tons of beer taps, a nice bar and seating area along with a huge selection of bottled beer & wine. And don't worry, part of it is still a convenience store (which is awesome for us neighbors). Check it out!
Fun, unexpected dinner spot. Choice looks like a gas station, but they've got a chef whipping out great teriyaki, beers on tap, and an outdoor seating area.
I just moved into the neighborhood and this place is the bane of my existence. I have to walk past here and resist the urge to buy their teriyaki every day. Its crispy, fast, and just absolutely fantastic. I've tried lots of places and this is the best quick teriyaki I've found in seattle so far.
Amazing little spot! What a turn around from the old place it once was. They have incredible food, brews, and literally everything else you need. The staff is so kind and they remember your orders and drinks. What an awesome spot. Totally worth checking out if you haven't already! ♡♡
Been going here since it was hogys corner, then 711, and choice deli(aka metal mart). Hours posted here are wrong! I believe they close at eleven pm now and it's super annoying. Prices have gone up with the remodeling but beer on tap and food makes it more of a desirable destination but I do lament the quiet late nights as a teen playing street fighter and Adams family pinball and eating deli sandwiches. Five stars for nostalgias sake for sure. This place is a real staple for the area.
Very clean nice staff they offer good cooking food and serve beer
The food is amazing along with the staff members
Staff is so very friendly. They have some tasty food and a really great selection of beers and wines. It's nice that there's indoor and outdoor seating, kid and dog friendly.
The teriyaki was surprisingly better than expected, and this is after personal experiences of so many places around seattle with underwhelming teriyaki. I've been by and they're figuring it all out. Grab a beer and grub. Nice to have it right down the steet! One pet peeve; the door ringing every time someone exits or leaves...
Food snacks and beer on tap what more could you ask for ? The teriyaki is pretty good value and owners and staff are friendly. Great to have a store so close to home.
It was unheard of to get good tasting, mouth watering chicken teriyaki at a “convenient mart” until now. This place rolled in with a vengeance and changed the teriyaki game. Just like they say “espresso, smokes, and teriyaki” -what a killer combo.
I would give them 5 stars if they were more transparent about their pricing, menu before tax showed a few dollars less than what was on my receipt for the before tax amount (yes tax was a seperate charge and no i did not order delivery)
Not sure about these people who don’t understand how sales tax and to go fees work, but their loss is your gain! You are so lucky to be able to experience the temple that is Ballard Choice
The chicken teriyaki is the best I've ever had. Remodeled with a huge selection of drinks. Friendly employees.
Just like Chuck's Hop Shop, but with a great menu! Come in, check it out! Goodwill is right across the street, make this a destination!
Good food! Good teriyaki. This is with trying. Seattle has flavor.
I call this place Wizard Choice and the teriyaki is in fact magical 🔥🔥🔥 …
Amazing place, I go here 1-3 times a week for all my snacking needs.
Super friendly owner and employees, prices are good and they have a huge selection of beer and wine.
Everything I've ordered has been excellent. Super friendly staff!
This spot is fantastic, awesome beer selection and great teriyaki!
Love the new digs but would really appreciate if folks in the morning could be trained to pull espresso shots correctly.
The people who work there are hard working people and are VERY kind. Great place, got good food, and much more.
The katsu burger is so good!!! Definitely give this place a try.
Love this place. Great food, great beer, friendly staff.
Teriyaki is back! Really like the addition of the Korean wings too.
Completely refurbished, ready to roll as the next wine/beer bistro & convenience store to boot
It's a great corner store. They do growler fills!
Not the first place that comes to mind for food but actually not too bad
Spicey chicken is the best teriyaki in ballard! Not even close
Great prices on beer and great service keep it up please :))
Good teriyaki, but a bit slow
The staff is great!. I haven't tried the food yet though.
Great selection
Great selection of local beers by the pint or growler
Amazing beer and cider selection on tap.
Awesome food awesome people awesome everything!
Very kind people and prices are good.
