Dorignac’s saved our Christmas this year ! We have had a tough year (like many). We ordered the catered Christmas meal for our family. They went above and beyond. The store is always well stocked with a verity of brand name food choice, fresh fruits, vegetables, numerous selection of meats, chicken, pork, beer, wine and liquor. Checkout stations are always full with cashiers and baggers. Prices are competitive to other local stores and chain grocery stores.

Great liquor and grocery store. The store-made products are fantastic. Such as the Louisiana stuffed artichokes and the sushi selection. The bakery is Devine and must be visited with fresh fruit tarts and stuffed canolis. Clean and inviting environment and good prices and deals.

This is the only store in New Orleans where I can buy sugarless cookies. But even more extraordinary is the morning star bacon vegetarian bacon I couldn’t find nowhere else in spite of trying to order it for two years. And I think they have Häagen-Dazs rocky road also a rare ice cream in New Orleans and only available at Hanks chicken on Saint Claude, so even though a lot of other weirdos come here to shop I’m loving this place.

Dorignac’s has the best produce offerings of any local grocery store. It also a deli counter that offer fresh sliced deli meat to order, and a wide selection of wine and beer. This is the grocery store where New Orleans’ premiere chefs shop. When you cannot get an ingredient at another market, you can always find it at Dorignac’s.

This is my go to place for catering. They make the best finger sandwiches. Their meatballs are delicious and I'm not even a fan of meatballs but we cannot go without these meatballs for a party. Their Mac n cheese is so creamy and tasty. You just might get hooked on their crawfish pies. A party is not a party without these snacks!

Dorignacs has everything you need and plenty that you didn't know you needed. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Excellent shopping experience, just remember- you pay for quality and good service. As far as pricing goes, it's no Walmart, but it's not quite Fresh Market pricing either.

Are you serious! Two people can have a great "start your day" breakfast for less than 10 dollars. Eggs, bacon, sausage, "old school" sausage, oatmeal, biscuits ,and much more is available. Then when you finish your meal, you can get your shopping taken care of as well. The great deli includes Boar's Head meats. They also have daily lunch dinner options prepared and ready to eat, including steak night. Also, when you get breakfast you can grab a prepared lunch option available in the deli.

This is a great local shop! There’s a good selection of import beer. The wine selection is great, priced reasonably, and there’s usually someone to help select a wine. All the employees I’ve met here are helpful and friendly. The meat, seafood, and produce are top-notch and curated to the local recipes. There’s even good music playing while you shop! Dorignac’s is always a pleasant shopping experience even when it’s crowded!

If you’re willing to drive out to Metairie, this is the place to make groceries. Their bakery and deli are great, and they have local options you don’t really find at other big stores (creole cream cheese, meyer lemons). The alcohol section is also incredibly expansive. Probably 20-30 sake options alone.

I use to do all my grocery shopping there. When I moved father out I stopped. But I went to do my Thanksgiving grocery shopping there and I missed it so much. I love Dorignac's, the employees are wonderful, the meat department has the best fresh meet. I didn't realize I have missed it that much. Wow, if I just go once a month I'm satisfied. What a large and wonderful grocery store!! The liquor selection is one of a kind, on par with Martin’s in Uptown. The staff is always walking around ready to help and restock quite often. Great parking and security on site whenever I go. A bit pricier than Rouses but not as high as Whole Foods.

Been shopping here my whole life, as a kid I loved to get a fresh sprinkle donut while my dad shopped, nowadays, I love Dorignac's for the local produce, sprawling cheese case, extensive liquor selection... My highlight is the broccoli and cauliflowers they have during the winter. Those things are gorgeous! I also like how they cut the citrus so you can see what it looks like inside. It's the little things.

Love this place for special cuts meats that are hard to get elsewhere and they have Tamales New Orleans style that are from the stands in certain part of New Orleans or Slidell but prepackaged and it taste the same as getting it fresh. The dessert showcase is also our favorite. The Russian cake, Carrots cake , custard , tiramisu are amazing. We go here once every few months. Just because it actually out of our way. When we do we get the usual just because we get everything else from Whole food or Rouses as they are literally down the street for us. If this grocery store was closer. It would be our go to. Store!

I mostly purchase meat and cakes from the bakery. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable and the store is always clean. You can find whatever you need here. It's definitely pricey but it's a neighborhood grocery store so I don't mind supporting it. The baked goods are fresh and delicious and there's a superb spirits section.

I use Dorignac's for its special cuts butcher. On this particular day, I purchased 5, 20+oz bone in ribeye steaks (also known as cowboy ribeyes). Marble was great, they were trimmed before weighing, and where cut to the thickness I desired. Was perfect for feeding my young men (they are under 30) and everyone was full.

The bakery alone is worth a visit. Birthday parties and celebrations are even better with cakes made fresh here. Sunday mornings always seem sweeter with the donuts made right on site. The wine selection and prices are amazing. You'll be surprised by what you can find here. The customer service is exceptional and never let me down. My grandmother and mother shopped here and now my family does as well.

I have always loved this store! They have EVERYTHING. You want Creole tomatoes in December? They got ‘em! They’re always busy, but always super fast and efficient. The staff are incredible; they’re helpful and friendly, and they always have all the checkouts open. This store has steadily remained a solid, well-oiled machine for my entire life, and I always make the extra effort to shop there instead of getting lower quality meats or substandard items/service from other chain grocery stores that I won’t name. Dorignac’s is the best in the GNO area, hands down!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Just that Winn Dixie is generally cheaper and Fresh Market has better fresh produce. Their breakfast options are good and affordable. Not other place will make you a good vegetarian omelet for under $4. They won't accept tips (don't know why)! So I got them a bottle of wine and they were delighted to accept it :)

My son bought the liquor for his wedding here and they gave him a good price and they take back any unopened bottles and give you your money back, so you can buy plenty just in case people drink more than anticipated.

Dorignac's is my favorite grocery store. They have the best produce, meat, seafood and deli. The bakery is a bonus (fresh French bread and St. Joseph's bread). My favorite supermarket. Dorignacs is a stable of Metairie they have the largest alcohol inventory I’ve ever seen in a supermarket all the bourbon, rums, vodkas, Beers , wines , etc . Great prices on everything . The pastry area is large and they make everyday over 100 desserts one more delicious than the next . We go there at least 5 times a week for breakfast. Reggie the chef is amazing! He knows his customers by name, and everyone is greeted with a smile along with pleasant conversation.The employees are like family to the customers. It's so refreshing to see everyone of all races respecting, and enjoying one another's company. The wine, and cheese options are one of my favorites. Ok I'll be honest the entire store is my favorite from the Dorignac's brand water to the bakery and flowers. You'll never go wrong at this place. Steak night (Tuesday) is another reason to stop by.

Love this place. Discovered Blue Moon Beer here decades ago. Live lobsters steamed are a treat to take home. Italian bread is good. Custom meat is great and never disappointing. Muffaletta good. Fresh flower good. Used to get pickled herring here, variety choices, now only available in tiny jars. It's OK. I like independent grocerors.

First off, I absolutely love Dorignac's bread, cake, pastry, wine and alcohol selection It's second to none! and they carry Boars Head meats! Their everyday food items however are priced a little more then some of the other stores in the area. So I usually get my everyday items elsewhere!

Always a fantastic experience. Family owned grocery store. Excellent produce and experienced butchers. Fresh meats daily and already prepared meals for the entire family. Their Deli is a gem because they offer fresh cold cuts and hot meals. They have daily lunch specials like red beans and rice on Mondays and fried or baked catfish on Fridays. They also serve cold lunch specials such as hamburgers, poboy sandwiches (roast beef and shrimp poboys are to die for), and french fries. Employees are extremely friendly and helpful which makes your shopping experience that much more special. I highly recommend Dorignac's for your grocery needs.

Expensive and annoying at times. I do not fit the profile of the typical Old Metairie customer clientele so I feel a bit like a fish out of the water. Wine selection is amazing. Produce is not the best and prices are high. I do love when it's Creole Tomato season as they have the best. Bakery is amazing and their brioche bread is very good. Deli is very good. Check out is efficienct. Overall pricey but good quality.

Huge alcohol section. Some prices are great values, others are high enough to make you think someone made a mistake. I'm looking at you, Ghirardelli chocolate chips. Hands down the best plastic bags in the city. They are durable enough for reuse, unlike the tissue paper thinness if bags from other stores.

This my favorite place to make groceries. Dorignac's is a supermarket circa 1962. In other words, it's a quarter of the foot print of today's behemoth supermarkets. Somehow it seems to have impressive variety and selection. There is a phenomenal butcher counter and wine section with at least one knowledgeable sommelier. Beer, cheese, and spirits have great variety too. The bakery is a cut above the chain stores, best donuts in town. Dorignac's is privately owned operated and they seem to do a great job at everything. Probably why they are one of the small players still in the game. They have a lunch counter too that I have never used. Bet it is good too.

Pretty good selection. Staff is pretty helpful. Their credit card machines at the registers cannot process Amex. If you want to use Amex the manager has to come over with a iPad and one of those square apps. This adds a few minutes to the checkout procedure.

Dorignac's really separates itself away from other grocers with the bakery, deli, ready made meals, and the cafe. Prices can be a bit high but the price premium is worth it. From the bakery, I highly recommend the French Bread, elcairs, Apple fritters (especially when they are still warm).

This is the best grocery store hands down. Hard to find foodstuffs aren't so hard to find here. Need premade meals? Dey got dat (I recommend the Shepheard's Pie). There's a full bakery (get the creme brulee buns and the doberge cake), artisan cheeses, and a wide selection of meat and seafood. They have the largest selection of liquor, beer and wine of any grocery store this side of the lake. It's not just large, it's masterfully curated. Several times I've run around looking for specialty alcohols only to always end up at Dorignac's. The employees that work the various alcohol sections are highly knowledge and even with the vaguest descriptions they can point you to the beverage you're searching for.

You get what you pay for. With the exception of liquor (Dorignac's has the cheapest prices in town for wine, liquor, and imported beer)Dorignac's is pricey because it is the best. I can get anything I want there, with few exceptions. Lucky Strike cigarettes, Chimay Ale, cream of wheat, marzipan AND almond paste, and other hard-to-get items are carefully selected by the management, and available at Dorignac's and in some instances nowhere else. Calves' liver is sliced to order. Dorignac's carries Absinthe; Zuppardo's (another pricey store in Metairie) does not; Dorignac's carries Lucky Strikes; Zuppardo's does not. Dorignac's carries Porter, Chimay, and Nut Brown ale; Zuppardo's does not. I could go on, but you get the idea. I would say the only items that are not good value at Dorignac's are produce and Scotch, because Dorignac's does not carry Teacher's Scotch, so I buy it at Paul's Quick Stop nearby. However, the service at Dorignac's is excellent.
