I love this store!! You will too if you do not already. The store is smaller than Walmart and Kroger but that is one of the many reasons I like it. Their prices are good and I dare to say I have been saving money since I have been shopping there. I have to admit that I have lived close to Compton’s for years and have just started shopping there. Do not let that happen to you. You cannot find a better store for meat as far as cost and quality is concerned. Check out their 5 for $24.99 specials whereby you purchase 5 marked packages (and there are many different meats and quantities to choose from including ground beef, bacon, chicken and pork, etc.). You can also purchase cooked/warm meals with a meat and 2-3 veggies which absolutely look delicious. I have tried the ribs which were wonderful. I wish I had not missed out on Compton’s all this time but am thrilled I will not miss out anymore.

The food prices here are very good, they have rotations where they have select meats on sale. The average product here is cheaper than Wal-Mart shockingly. I removed a star because I wasn't able to find Fig Newton or canned pineapple juice here. (Which are very common items, they could have been out I'm not sure.)

Great family run personable service where they remember you and your name, carry out your groceries, and carry great local products like honey, Jams, and WOF! Awesome small grocery story with great focus on service. They care about the community and their customers. Always very friendly and helpful. I have visited several times and employees always go out of the way to help out customers, you never wait in line to checkout, and one employee even carried my groceries out to the car for me (I have NEVER had anyone even offer to carry groceries). Great for quick grocery runs due to its convenient location. More expensive than Wal-Mart, but more conveniently located for me. Annual Easter egg hunt is a blast for the kids ... Be sure to check out their amazing doughnuts and cookies. Great grocery pick up and ordering service as well!

This is my favorite store to shop at. The meat prices are very affordable to me, especially the pick 5 and it's great quality. The workers are always friendly and helpful (like chick-fil-a workers lol). I often wonder how do they find these amazing workers. I've been shopping here over 8 years now. I like Compton'sokay, have shopped with them for years having lived in the neighborhood. They usually have good cuts of meat at good sale prices. But their day in day out prices on grocery items are high, sometimes off the proverbial hook sky high especially if it's something not on sale. Store personnel are also ever changing, don't recognize long time customers and not very friendly except to each other. I think much of this is because the biz was sold awhile back and it's not the "neighborhood grocery" that it used to be. One year later, nothing has changed and regular in line groceries I swear are even higher than anywhere else including the get it n go type grocery stores. Today in September a head of lettuce was $3, I've never seen that kind of price on lettuce. I sure don't know who can afford to shop and buy groceries here and I sure don't see people bringing shipping carts full of groceries out to their car. There just no reason they should charge these kind of prices!

I absolutely love this place! Small hometown mom and pop shop with a southern charm and an absolutely AMAZING meat department. Possibly the best I've ever seen. My ONLY complaint about this place......most of the young cashiers and baggers need a lesson on engaging their customers. It is a very common occurrence to see them totally ignore you after a casual "hey, how are you" and carry on a conversation with their friends/fellow coworkers about the party or sports event they went to the night before. Sometimes one or two of them won't even make eye contact with you and as a result, I end up needing to wait until they finally realize they need to press the button to finish the transaction. This needs some work. Please kids! You're ALL nice kids. That's not my problem. You just need to learn that your customer deserves your undivided attention when. they are in front of you. The conversation with your friends needs to stop, and then resume when the register is clear again.

I’m glad I went there for the first time this past week. I got really good meat specials for over 20 cents a pound less than what Kroger and Publix were charging. But the produce was over priced. For that I still go to my other grocery stores like Aldi and better yet K&S.

Always got what I’m looking for but their already cooked food could be a little fresher or just discard if it’s past the time/date. Cooked Ribs looked good and juicy but got home seconds later and opened ribs it was hard to pull apart. Like over cooked or out too long. I’ll try again one day.

This is our local grocer. We really love the convenience and size of this grocery store. They are family owned and KNOWN throughout Nashville for having the BEST meat quality, prices and deals! They have a Pick 5 deal where you can pick five meats for $20 and it's always a deal! The prices in comparison to the competition is pretty comparable and similar to Kroger prices. Overall, we are really grateful for this store!

I love this store. It local and serves a small community. The prices are higher than the big chains and the produce is rarely as fresh, but it has foods not available elsewhere. It is small and intimate and yet has enough options to satisfy my needs. I cannot recommend the meats. It may be coincidence but all of the meats i have purchased here were poor quality; either tough or tiny once the water was cooked out. The caveat is that many employees do not take covid-19 and the mask mandate seriously. I do not visit often but when I have been, the rate of employees wearing masks is about 50%. They sometimes put on a mask in response to my glare, but you should understand this store does not take seriously the safety of its customers.

I love love love this store. I love this store so much I literally travel from North Nashville to Compton's. I go for the freshness of the meat and the reasonable prices. The only place I have been where I do not complain about how high the meat products are. Very friendly staff, most staff recognizes me when I come in and that makes me feel they are paying attention and they care about there customers. Great place to get food in Antioch. I only usually come in after I go to Dollar Tree which makes it really convenient. It's really clean and lots to choose from no matter what you eat. I just wish prices were better and I would make this my only store to buy from.

Compton's is the place to go for pick5's and pastries! They never disappoint! Their pick 5 in my opinion has the best meat selection and largest quantity of items available out of all the stores offering pick 5's in Nashville and I know cause I've shopped them all at some point! The store is ALWAYS clean and well stocked and the staff is always friendly and courteous and ready to help! It has that old school warmth and down home feel to it like grocery stores use to have back in the day where everybody knows you and always has a smile! It's our favorite place to shop! I’ve been coming here since I was a lil boy, fixing to be 21 soon and I’m still a loyal shopper and so is my mom. Just a nice lil grocery store that’s in the neighborhood. Great deal on meats and a pretty good selection of other things as well. Yes, some things are up there in price a little bit but I for one would rather go here than Wal mart and Kroger’s because I like supporting small businesses. Good neighborhood grocery store. It's not the largest store, and doesn't have the largest selection but has enough. Their pick 5 meat deal is great as well. They are always super friendly and courteous. Sometimes a little too aggressive on wanting to take your groceries to your cart, but it's in a nice and helpful way. Compton's foodland is the only grocery store within miles of the lake. There's a Dollar tree right next door. A gas station Shell, across the street. Compton has reduced prices on Bay Street meals homemade meat and two. One of the managers is always there to greet and answer questions, that's Debbie. They're five for $20 meat deals for the beginning of great meals. It's a good place to shop. Smith springs road by the lake.

Even had my furnace filter at $2.09 when Kroger was $9.99. but Kroger's may be multi pack. I only buy produce there bec it lasts longer than Kroger's. There meats r far superior over Kroger's. I went here with my mother to get a few items and when we walked in I noticed how beautiful it was. I haven't been to compton's in a long time so it was surprising to me how much everything had changed except for the friendliness of the staff. This is a neighborhood grocery store and if you keep coming in frequently like my mother does they will get to know you and will call you by name. The manager even gives the best hugs ever

This place is a throwback local grocery store. That means higher prices than kroger and other big chains, but a mom and pop atmosphere. Meaning thick grocery bags, local made product displays, no self checkout, old school credit card reader software, high school employees, weird lighting, limited selection. Convenient location for stopping on the way to the lake beach and picnic areas - just about the only thing ever on sale here is meat, if you're planning on grilling. Dollar store next store, to pick up stuff like trash bags and detergent for way cheaper. There's a huge kroger a couple of miles from here at nashboro village, but I still stop here because it's closer to home and makes me happy to be a customer.

A decent small and clean neighborhood grocery store. I usually only shop here when I only need one or two things and don't feel like taking the time to drive to one of the larger grocery chains, but many people shop primarily here every week for groceries. They have all of the necessities. Their prices are average. They have a special "5 for $20" deal that a lot of people love. There is a large selection of items eligible including meats, cheeses, deli meats and frozen goods meals. Their meat department is OK, but not the best. Same goes with their bakery. I stopped buying pork here because I think they need a newer or sharper blade for butchering because every pork i've bought from here has jagged bones and I always chomp down on small slivers of bone that have chipped off in the meat. I hate having to pick pieces of broken bones out of my mouth before swallowing, lol. Overall a nice, clean, grocery store for quick shopping visits.

I just moved here, and I've already learned that I've got to buy all of my meats at Compton's. Their stuff is incredible... steaks melting in my mouth, delicious pork roasts, etc. Their pick 5 for $20 deal makes it super affordable, too. I also really enjoy their deli selection - both the baked goods and the hot foods that they sell during the day. For your everyday boxed/canned goods, I think they're slightly overpriced, so I tend to buy those elsewhere (plus I really like almost all of the Kroger brand stuff better than name brand, so I kind of have that bias too). But fresh foods have to come from Compton's!

Made several trips while camping at Anderson Road Campground. Firewood prices are fair and the store has any other of your basic grocery items you might need. Pricing was surprisingly reasonable--below big box store in some cases. Super friendly staff who went out of their way to greet me, show me to the nearest checkout line, and direct me to the driest available firewood.

BEST place to buy meat. 18 years shopping and only returned meat once. They'll cut filet Mignon to your order, call before you go. Prices beat all other chain stores and you can see them cutting the meat through the window. Overall a lot of their prices are less than Publix.

I have been shopping at Compton's Foodland for going on roughly 11 or 12 years. Sometimes when I go there I feel like I'm in the 1950s, because the bag boys are extremely nice and, even if you only have one or two bags, it's part of their job to take that bag or bags to your car. Everyone who works inside the store is always very welcoming and helpful. I don't like to support giant chains, I won't mention their names here, but you know the stores I'm talking about. I always like to support the smaller sort of Mom and Pop's shop. Compton's has a bit of a smaller variety than the big Superstores, but the butcher just needs to be called a few hours prior and he'll cut any slice of meat you ask for. They also have great pies, homemade, and other little things like sandwiches, macaroni salad, healthy fruits and nuts and every basic item that we, as a culture, I have come to expect from every supermarket. I recommend to all of my cohorts because we're the ones growing up in a world where we think that only five to seven stores exist. Last thing... Everytime my spouse and I have gone there, we've always been greeted with multiple hellos, especially from the manager whom we have known for years now, and I've never had to wait in line for longer than 7 minutes or so. I give them an A++.

I cook turnip and mustard greens for family get togethers and I can always go into Comptons and find what I need. This small neighborhood grocery offers most of the amenities of a large chain store. Their deli items are made fresh daily, and they're now offering a shopping service. All you have to do is pick up your order. This store's true gem is its meat department. They have a butcher there daily, and he and his crew offer up top notch quality meat at incredible prices. I don't know how they do it. And when it's all done, they'll help you to the car with your groceries. Compton's is one of Nashville's hidden gems.

The only thing better than there meat prices are the friendly and warm service you get from the employees at comptons foodland on Smith springs rd. The store is smaller than the big box chains with a homey feel of yesteryear but there prices are comparable or less than some of the big box chains like publix or walmart. So give comptons a try , I don't think you'll be disappointed. One of the few places left that will carry your groceries out for you.
