Reviews of Shuang Hur Supermarket Minneapolis
Well kept store with fair prices on a wide selection of Asian products. Produce, meats, snacks, rice, kitchen supplies etc. Try the duck or pork hot and delicious right on site!
What else can you expect from an Asian supermarket? Peking duck. BBQ pork. Fish on ice. Shrimp. Sprinkle in the usual suspects of noodles, spices, and frozen goods.
Good variety of Asian supplies. Also very helpful if you need bulk items, they will even wheel it out to your trailer.
This is the Oriental store but only things is the store is so crowded but every thing is all Good they' even have the fresh crab in the tank
As always, amazing service and quality options. I even got a good reference for a non-spicy hot pot base.
Great selection of sauces and spices and other dry goods. Decent take away roast duck. Some meet cuts you can't find in your normal stores. Produce is generally pretty fresh and more diverse than other stores. Fish almost never looks good though. Sometimes things I'd expect aren't available. Frozen products are kind of limited and don't seem to turn over often enough.
Took a chance on buying fresh fish here; never had a Sheepshead before and wanted to experiment with a fish market near by. The fish turned out excellent and was very fresh and clean tasting. Always a staple place for eastern goods.
Good selection. We were looking for ube and they had some! Very cheap deals on bags of snacks like seaweed. I got two big bags of seaweed for $1. When I'm in the uptown area, I'll be going back. Not the best well kept though, especially in the frozen section there were things placed randomly it seemed.
Good selection of product. The entrance has a fishy-poultry odor to it from the roasted duck drippings - could be improved if the area was sanitized to increase customer satisfaction.
Good place to buy the item which we will not get in regular store
Decent prices and a pretty clean store. Sometimes you can't find the prices to some of the products and it can be hard to track down an employee to help you out. They also have some Mexican products in store as well.
I love this place. My main complaint (and the reason I have given it only four stars instead of five) is about the packaging. Everything packaged by the store, including vegetables, comes on a Styrofoam tray with plastic wrap around it. Although I appreciate that they date when the vegetables were packaged so I know how fresh they are, I really hate the Styrofoam. It’s one of the reasons I try to go to United noodles instead, whenever I can, though it is less convenient. If they were to change this, I would recommend it without reservations.
Great selection of fresh meat and Asian produce/products. The also sell roasted pork & duck...so good! The owner is very nice & helpful when I was looking for a hard to find item. Prices are super affordable!
great place to buy asian groceries and good snacks.
I visited the Asian market with the specific purpose to buy a non-stick frying pan. I may stop by again to buy fresh fish and live crabs from their tank. The store has a huge variety of cookware for the home or restaurants. What I like most about the variety of frying pans are the lids to choose from to fit the variously sized pans.
Good selection! great prices on herbs, veg, fruits and the only place I buy shrimp! Very fresh quality and easily the best value of any other local grocery store. If you are looking for something quick they almost always have hot duck either broken down already into nice portable little pieces or they will break it down for you. The sauces it comes with are wonderful as well!
Love this place. My go to asian market when in the cities. ALoha
Recommend. Good quality and reasonably priced produce, noodles, fish, and specialty spices and sauces. Also have a decent stovetop cookware and utensils selection. If you need help finding something ask a cashier. They will be more than helpful and we’re able to help me find a great alternative.
Love the selection here. They have the best deal on herbs and veggies even cuts of meats you cant find most places
It may not have all of the selection that you so desire in an Asian grocery store, but it will definitely get the job done if you're looking for certain key ingredients and includes produce, fresh seafood and a butcher shop. This place is relatively economical and it has a decent variety for the location. It's the only Asian store close to my apartment. Like I said it has the key ingredients, the variety can be sparse.
A great place to go for Asian cuisine cooking. They have fresh meat of all kinds and limited fresh seafood as well. They have roast pork, duck and chicken available for purchase. Sometimes they're produce is cheaper than Cub Foods. They also sell ointments. They a wide variety of noodles, coffees, teas, spring roll wrappers, frozen entrees, spices and sauces.
You want a small bottle of oyster sauce? Plenty of choices, but then maybe you could just get a large bottle. How about bamboo shoots? Every kind, even in chili oil. They happily bend over backwards to help you find whatever you need.
Love their selection. They have plenty of non conventional cuts of meat (i.e. Marrow bones, whole pig head, tripe, pork fat, and whole duck)
Their seafood selection is above par as well. They have live blue crabs (sporadically), live Dungeness crab, and live lobster. They have whole and tail only shrimp.
This is a must visit for your asian goods!
The store needs cleaning and they keep leaving boxes in the aisle. The veggies are great price but you need to really check and rinse them caught a couple of bugs inside my vegi already. I go there enough to know where everything is but be prepare to be lost there’s no label and the cashier don’t really know where things are and the people who do know only speaks Spanish or Chinese. I rate 4 cause they have almost everything I need when I want to make a Asian dish and the price is good they lost the 1 star cause the store needs a good cleaning and organizing.
Update(there’s signs at the top of the aisles now) still need some floor cleaning and remove boxes out of the aisle after stocking up. Really sucks they leave it on the floor the carts can’t get through.
This place used to be great when it was the monopoly of Twin Cities asian grocery stores, but it definitely didn't keep-up with its competitors over the years. Offerings are priced low, so you get a lot of value shopping here, but it looks run-down and found expired merchandise from time-to-time. I'm still not sure if this place is closed half the time I'm in the area. Still wishing the best for them to restore its old glory days.
Already left a review on Shuang Hur but it went to the one in Saint Paul. They are both good, the staff is friendly and helpful and they have great products at some of the best prices in town. I come here for fresh vegetables, cooking wine, tofu, instant noodles, coconut milk, hot sauce, curry paste, and other things like that.
Large selection of dry goods, like bottled sauces and spices, teas, etc. they also have a fish tank with fresh fish (seafood?) to buy, and a freezer section and dishes, cookware, for cooking massive amounts of Asian food for a wedding etc.
A great selection of hard to find ingredients. We loved the dish wall
Great market. I go here almost exclusively to stock up on sauces and ingredients to make food from various Asian countries. If I'm feeling lazy, they have a ton of frozen offerings that are pretty delicious.
Shopping here is always a nice cultural experience. Love the roasted duck and pork. Last I was here a pregnant couple from Mankato purchased 3 roasted ducks. I was hoping she left me 1. People travel for this and it's worth it.
It is one of the few Asian stores in South Minneapolis. It has the best roast duck. The parking lot is limited. There could be more variety of things. They have live seafood as well as a frozen fish section. You will often find boxes in the aisles waiting to be shelve. However this is one of the best Asian stores to go to in South Minneapolis. The owner of the store are always there and I really nice.
Great variety of veg, noodles/ramen, rice, spices, frozen foods, snacks, tea, meat, seafood, and kitchenwares. This is my preferred East Asian grocery store. Great prices compared to the same ingredients at domestic stores.
Always a wonderful experience! They have an amazing selection and variety of Asian foods and small goods for the home and kitchen. It is a lovely experience to shop there.
I'm often here picking up curry pastes, rice wine, and fish sauce, but there is so... much... more...
In a nutshell, it's best to know what you're after, but if you can shop with an open mind, you may find some excellent additions to your kitchen cupboard.
Produce prices are usually great, for starters. They do offer an ever-growing number of things without MSG or bisulphate, but you'll have to look and read the labels yourselves.
Slightly less impressive than the Saint Paul location, but still a fantastic place to get all your Asian cooking needs met.
Meats here are a mystery to me, and I will let people who know what to do with plump pig intestines and oxtail comment on such things.
I love my Asian Grocery stories as it bring nostalgia and great savings. Comparing to United Noodles, the prices in Shuang Hur is wayyyyyy cheaper. If you are looking for veggies, Shuang Hur is your place as they have cheaper veggies/meats/seafood and you get quite a bit for the fraction at the price at Cub. Shuang Hur has a different selection compare to other Asian grocery stores, so there is value checking out this store. Good place to get your groceries overall. This location has a little less variety.
Best Asian market around. Always have everything I need to make ramen from scratch.
Best place in Minnespolis to get whole cooked duck, char siu and roast pork. We also buy the head-on shrimp which is the best way to buy.
Best Asian grocery store in Minneapolis. Can't beat the prices, selection, and service. The BBQ is amazing, made a nice roast pork sandwich with the French bread they get delivered every morning.
This will be my go to place for all Asian groceries.
Great selection and good prices.
Fresh produce at good prices (although a lot of plastic packaging), huge selection of noodles, rice, dried legumes, mushrooms, and other grains. Also a large butcher and seafood selection, many packages snacks and sweets.
A whole aisle of instant noodles. Fresh seafood tank. Great prices on produce. All your favorite Asian ingredients.
Good selection, especially dry goods and the butchers. MUCH less expensive than the other big Asian grocery stores in Minneapolis.
The St Paul location is even better still!
Much better than St Paul in my opinion. Super affordable. Asian staff is awesome but don't speak English well. Latino staff have a high turnover because they can't put things in the right place and are usually pretty rude.
Lots of choices here and the prices are quite reasonable. They have a small fresh food section also.
The place is just OK. They are missing lamb meat option and the most of all they have grocery attendants who cannot speak or understand English. It was difficult to make purchase of variety of fish with this situation. So better employ people who knows English.
Superb Asian supermarket within close proximity to downtown Minneapolis. Great selection of packages and fresh goods, with reasonable prices. This is ideal for my wife and I to find what we need for cooking our favorite dishes from the wife's homeland...Hong Kong.
I dread the day I no longer live near this place. Tons of grocery items at a great price including hard to find ones. I get my herbs, tofu, shrimp, and mushrooms here regardless of what I'm making. The prices just can't be beat.
Good selection of bowls, spoons, etc. Best I have seen in the Twin Cities. Also a wide variety of global foods and a decent sized produce selection.
Thank you sooooo much to the helpful staff!! I was looking for ingredients to make Pho, and they went over and above to make me feel welcome and find everything I needed! Even suggested a few to improve my recipe! They will be my go to from here on out!
Went fo fruits and thought since it is a second biggest store i will find more variety. They had total of 4 types of fruits. Otherwise I think they have very big selection on other products
I always go here to purchase and make pork belly. They have the best cuts and fresh meat selection.
Had everything I needed for making lumpia.
It had everything I was looking for and much, much more! The produce was fresh and everything was priced very well. The only thing keeping this review from 5 stars was the organization; it was a little difficult to hunt down a couple of things.
My local go-to grocer for noodles, sauces, and those imported Asian snacks.
Live seafood tanks.
Great produce prices! Don't come here thinking this is going to have everything a Cub would have -- but it does have many of the same stuff and you should be fine shopping here unless you are looking for something specifically.
Amazong selection of Oriental foods including a bewildering variety of fresh meats, vegetables, and seafood. I go here to get cases of ramen noodles which are inexpensive and good quality.
Great place for all things Asian food related. Fresh and reasonable prices. Hard to find fruit and veg. Try the duck at the meat counter! Fantastic!
Great inventory, only second to United Noodle but closer. Couldn't do my Asian meals right without them.
The food is 5-star excellent! I only take off one star because of parking and small tables crunched together. I highly encourage everyone to try the super restaurant.
Great grocery store. Great prices. They have some hard to find food, spices, and cookware.
Get the hanging duck you see in the window it is tender juicy and delicious. Make sure they give you the spicy dipping sauce to go with
Wonderful selection of Asian foods, fresh seafood and produce. Very reasonable and well organized.
I've always loved this lil market. Whenever my chili oils or sesame or whatever cooking products I need. 👍 …
It is realy cheap as far as sauces go. The frozen sectuon is good too. Don't expect to get your veg here. Not always the best.
This store has a lot of asian foods in variety ranging from Korean to Vietnamese. A good place to get those items for your asian recipes.
Decent selection and good prices. One time I went and the cashier was very rude, the next time they were very kind. Overall worth the trip.
Prices are affordable here! Especially compared to United Noodle whose prices have increased a lot in recent years. Thank you Shuang Hur !
Good place to get a lot of groceries you can't find elsewhere. However, often things are not priced. Like, at all.
Great deli! A bit expensive but the quality is good
Great place. They keep it going quite nice
Chinese folks are great.
The best selection of Asian fresh produce, meats, fish and frozen goods, canned and dried goods in the Twin Cities.
Great shrimp crab and lobster. Lots of other fish and meat options. Good for fresh veggies .
Enjoyable place to shop. I can't cook my Puerto Rican dishes without them!
Great place to learn about other culture's foods! Always good prices!

Great prices on Asian imported products. Also have fresh seafood.
Nice neighborhood Asian grocery store. Has a decent meat counter and fresh seafood.
I go to this place on a weekly basis to get my beef and other foods that only an Asian market would have. The prices are the same or cheaper compared to other Asian markets I have been to!
Great selection. Disappointed that they were out of soba, but this is something I can find in more traditional supermarkets.
They might not have everything that you want, but probably what you need. Nice produce selection and great prices.
Absolutely love this supermarket, its my favorite in the city
Best Pho ever! Been coming here for over 25 years and the food and service just keeps getting better and better.
Great grocery store that you need for everyday cooking.
Nice, inexpensive food. I'm also partial to places that carry my favorite steam dumplings.
Great place to buy dried seed and spices for tea or cook too...fresh seafood too
Just go get lost in the aisle amongst all the ramen, it’s a great time.

Good selection and good prices. Way better than the one in Burnsville.
Asian grocery with roasted duck and chrispy pork to go
Aisles for days, and just about any noodle you could want. I will certainly be returning to Shuang Hur as much as I can!
If only I didn't have to random leave my backpack (which I consider as a purse) on a stack of rice while shopping.
Huge selection of Asian foods and products at low prices.
So many authentic items, even for a vegetarian, vegan, kosher shopper
Between location and selection this is the best Asian grocery in Minneapolis.
Nice store, croweded in weekends good groceries.
I enjoy shopping here from time to time.
Come for the duck, and don't leave without sesame. By favorite in the twin cities.
