I got chuck roast beef for 5.99 lb. Got approximately $16 worth of it. Came with 1 lb potatoes, 1 lb baby carrots, and 1 lb onions for free from the newspaper deal. It's going to be a awesome night. Water refills at .49¢ a gallon.

Most of my photos of Metcalf's are of their very tasteful and elegant liqour section. It truly is beautiful. The ambience drew me to it right away. Before I went there I notice very gorgeous floral arrangements in the floral department. As I perused these areas I took many photos. I thought a layout this organized and elegant should be shown for people to see so that can come and view what Metcalf's has to offer their customers. Apparently I was over ambitious. Just as I finished with the liqour department a security member approached me and asked what I was doing. I explained that I was a volunteer Local Google Maps Guide and what that entails. He was concerned that I might be "part of the competition." Another way of saying that is "Corporate Espionage." I'm familiar with this problem and it absolutely occurs. However I wouldn't be that obvious if I were engaging in that type of activity, I'm way smarter than that. So security asked me to leave and escorted me out of the building! They really don't understand the impact that Local Guides have on any given place. Pictures especially!! I would think they would want people to see what they have to offer. I would have loved to photographed the rest of Metcalf's; it is a very nice place.

Great quality and selection of meat. There is also a butcher counter. Excellent deli. Prices for regular groceries (non-sale items) seem to be a bit higher than other places.

Only place in town to find Old Dutch puff corn. I have been shopping there for almost 20 years. Brand new deli, bakery and artisan cheese. I also found the holiday Miller Champagne bottle for only $2.99. Thank you Sentry!!!

An attempt at a somewhat upscale grocery shopping experience..and is, as far as aesthetic and assistance provided by the *grocery* staff. If you need help finding something, they are happy to walk you to said item; instead of leaving you to find it on your own, which is nice... however, the customer service provided by the cashiers/front end always leaves something to be desired. Just my experience.

Friendly neighborhood grocer. Their produce is generally good. Store has been updated a couple times in the last few years which has helped diversify what they carry, both food and health. They carry LOT of locally made products, which I like. Generally its clean, usually has what you're looking for, and has reasonable prices. Liquor department has a very good selection.

I live in Houston but when I'm in town visiting family in the area, I love doing my shopping here. Great selection and the staff are all very friendly. Mary is a cashier there and she is always so lovely when I visit. I thoroughly enjoy all of the local items that I can't get in Houston and conversations with Mary each and every time!

I placed an order with the Bakery Dept. For a cake for my mom for her birthday. The first lady who took my order wasn't very helpful and sounded annoyed to help take my order however when I called again later that evening to add to my order, Chris picked up the phone and provided excellent customer service. She made sure everything was correct and doubled checked everything. I felt very confident about my order thanks to her! I wanted the inscripture to be in my language and Chris although not knowing my language communicated excellently and paitiently to make sure that it was correct. Thank you Chris!!

I love there bakery, always fresh hard rolls and Deli is unspeakable, homemade salads and a large amount of deli meats. I could go on-n-on. Can't forget about the employees, they'll do anything to help you if needed if they can't help they will get someone that can. Place is very very clean, don't get me wrong some things are pricey but you get what you pay for and that is a big plus for me.

Had an issue with the way they bagged my groceries (cross contamination), the store director handled it quickly and professionally! This is why I will continue to be loyal to Metcalfe's! Prices are definitely a tad bit higher then other grocers but the service and products are top notch! You get what you pay for!

Love this store - only reason it is missing a few stars is because I wish they’d let their cashiers sit on a chair or stool in the check-out lanes! Very nice and helpful staff. Edit 4/22 I noticed that some checkout lanes now have stools for the cashiers!!! Metcalfes it the best!!!

I live near the market but I tend to go to less expensive stores for the bulk of my shopping. When I do go to Metcalfe, they are friendly and I get in and out quickly because I'm only picking up a handful of items.

Clean store, good selection. Very helpful and friendly staff. They assigned a staff member to help my wife pick out local cheeses and bratwurst. Easy to get to from State Fair RV parking.

OMG! I had the best experience when dealing with Metcalfes. We all know that customer service is at a all time low. I was at work and I wanted to do something special for my coworkers. I thought bagels would be great because I start at 7am and the rest of the crew starts at 7:30am. I have an account with Einstein Bagels so I figure no problem.I WAS SUPER WRONG. No response to online orders no response to phone calls. I gave up on them. I thought well I will call Pick n Save because another coworker was getting off work and was nice enough to pick them up. I called and was transferred to the bakery. I was asked how many people I needed bagels for I told them 25-30. She began to tell me that ,” we have enough bagels here to accommodate you, however if I sell them to you I wouldn’t have any for customers walking into the store.” I still to this day can’t figure that logic. So I called up Metcalfes, which is down the way from pick n Save. I was greeted on the phone so pleasantly and transferred to bakery. She told me what she had available and packaged the bagels plus additional variety of cream cheeses. I received a call where I made my payment over the phone and they were ready in 15 minutes!!!!!! I APPLAUD you Metcalfes, because you became the HEROS that day. The bagels were DELICIOUS! On behave of DISPATCH FOR MILWAUKEE POLICE DEPARTMENT thank you for your service 🤩

Best muffins ever! We like the specialty and prepared foods a lot. I’d not go shopping there for basic pantry items bc they’re too expensive. The staff seems pretty friendly and the store always is clean and full of delicious looking things. I wish they sold fresh squeezed orange juice! If they did I’d never have to run down the street to Metro Mart. Keep it up Metcalfs!

First time here. Very clean, organized and welcoming. The produce was outstanding! Very fresh, looked almost fake! Great selection of items in all departments. The meat area was wonderful! The butcher was welcoming and knowledgeable. It was very busy when I was there but the lines moved along quickly, which I really appreciate! (I hate long lines). Cashier was friendly enough, she was processing my order quickly, hence, it was busy. Pricing? Well, you get what you pay for. With all the organic, natural, vegan, gluten free, etc etc, pricing was a bit high but understandable!

Great selection of prepared food, produce, cheese and bakery. An underwhelming and comprehensible layout of individual isles that are shorter in length than most other stores. Beautiful variety of prepared floral arrangements, or the optional walk in cooler with individual flowers to make your own bouquet. I really enjoy the experience of shopping here; whether I'm running in to grab a handful of items, or a few meals for the week. Self check-out area is a bonus.

Metcalfe is a great store for certain items although when I lived closer I shopped there more often. My husband really likes thir sushi, their bakery has excellent sprinkles, they have a great selection of fresh seafood, and the banana nut muffins and pistachio muffins are also very good.

Exceptional Customer service. I can shop for groceries anywhere, but I enjoy the atmosphere. It's quite the experience. Today I saw a man stocking shelves without a mask. It upset me. I love and appreciate the staff and want them safe. That's how much I love Metcalfe's.

My first time here. It is a really nice store. It's a little pricey compared to the bigger box stores but the quality makes it worth it. They had the best green grapes I've had all year so I definitely want to come back and try more of their produce. Their meat was also very good. Tenderloin wasn't full of fat.

Management recently renovated the whole building. Has improved greatly in style and I consider this the main grocery store I go to. Produce once and a while seems to be picked through. They have a great deli, bakery, and meats/fish. Also their beer selection is awesome!

If you enjoy shopping to the sounds of classical music and chill lighting, this is your place. Prices aren't the best if you want to compare it to some other chains, but the atmosphere is nice. I like the overall layout of the store, from the reasonable shelf height to the font and color choices on signs.

It's a nice fancy store but the prices are too high to go there regularly. I can get the same exact groceries at the Metro Market for a fraction of the price. Plus there is no loyalty program here. I would shop here more often if they were more competitive with their pricing.

Very nice services, clean store. Fresh foods, I have a place to get Cook foods, the chicken is nice and seasons, $3.99 for a 2 piece dinner, comes with 2 sides. They have fresh fish area,with other fresh meats. Big store lots of deals. If it not on sale it's high price. So far I found everything here I wanted. They always remember me and greet me always. I really like this store.

Metcalfe's has been our neighborhood store for years, I love the quality of the products that they carry. It is higher priced on some items and the selection may be on a smaller scale versus Metro Mart but my overall experience has been 5 star. The floral department is A+ too!

Easily one of my favorite grocers. Quality is fantastic, food is affordable, sales are frequent with variety, store is clean, and there is such a large variety of product. Despite moving further away, I still make a monthly trip out to the store for some essentials. My absolute favorite item is their ready to bake pizzas and their seasoned chicken breasts.

A good store is determined not just by low prices, you want someone in the store who can help you find what you're looking for.

Love this place, produce is very good, deli and the bakery are also of high quality. Sushi is also pretty damn awesome! Staff is friendly and accommodating, I totally recommend this place for anyone looking for a quality grocery store. With that said, they aren't the cheapest so common none perishable items could be purchased elsewhere.

Great market, great staff, great selection, great prices! We do all of our grocery shopping here when we can. The past 5 or 6 years they've done an excellent job remodeling and rebranding. The place is comfortable and has a good flow to it. Everything seems to be right where it should be. The staff here is top quality, and there are quite a few employees who've been here for years, so you know they probably take good care of their employees, which means they care about what they do overall. Best grocery in wauwatosa by a long shot, and has good prices. They don't mess around with rewards or card holder discounts either which u personally love. They just build in the discounts to every product.

I have never been here before, the service was great and the people working here are so nice! I love the "Dinner for 4" bag because it comes in very handy. I was skeptical about the taste, not only me but my family loved the meals as well! The green beans are crunchy and delicious.

Prices are higher than many, but it's a very clean store. They always have clerks at registers if you don't prefer self-checkout machines. Great cheese selection. Fresh juice. Good liquor department. Wisconsin products. Red Box movie machine. Though not a huge variety of brands of food, the store is on the smaller side.

My favorite grocery store, period! The staff is awesome! One thing I observe in other grocery stores is the turnover of employees and how miserable the workers seem when they happen to be working. I don't see that when shopping at this store. Plus, I love the layout and the cleanliness of the store. It's also wonderful that the have a wellness section for my vitamin and health food needs. As long as Metcalfe's is around, I will be doing all my grocery shopping there!

A great place to pick up those hard-to-find items, or just do everyday shopping! The produce quality is much higher than some of the other local chain grocery stores, and not much more expensive. Many organic, vegetarian, GF and vegan options. They also have a great beer selection too!

Excellent butcher, cheese, and beer/wine selection. This is my favorite grocery store in Milwaukee. Underwent a renovation recently, and added some hot dine-in options and a cozy seating area. Good service, never long lines to check out. A bit more expensive than a pick n save but worth it IMO.

Amazing store with in house deli, cafe, and Asian Restraunt. It also has very impressive produce section. The meat department also has a butcher store with very experienced staff to cater to your culinary needs. I actually go out of my way to come here specifically for the freshest meats that I know of anywhere in the county.

I always come here for the cakes from the bakery. The staff is always so nice & creative. Definitely recommend calling ahead & ordering, a couple of mornings before you intend to pick up your cake because they do get busy in the afternoons sometimes, and it's just much easier to walk in & pick up your order. While all the cakes are amazing; The marble cake with the white butter cream frosting is by far my favorite! I've bought the large sheet cake several times for work events and it is always a big hit. The team eats it all the day of!

This is a great supermarket. It has almost everything you can imagine. Prices can be a bit higher here, but worth it. Fruits/vegies are excellent as well as their meat selections. Plan on spending at least an hour if u go there to shop. And don't forget to have fun!!!

Metcalfe's is a nice grocery store. I especially like their liquor selection! :) They have a good selection of beer, wines, and liquors (both cheap and quality). They do not have a good selection of organic produce, however, which is something that I look for in a grocery store and one of the main reasons I don't shop here on the regular. They separate their organic produce from the rest of it which makes me feel weird when I'm shopping for organic produce...

We love their burgers. Very helpful. Great meat and fish. Try skatewing, just sauteed in butter. Wonderful treat. Always have several varieties of fresh salmon. Scottish salmon is unbelievable and less expensive than other stores.

My favorite grocery store in Tosa! Their semi-recent remodel was a great upgrade- I now love getting a hot cup of coffee while I shop. They have an excellent produce, meat, and cheese section and the store is plenty spacious. It has a very neighborhood vibe and the staff is always wonderful!

The gem of the 3 grocery stores on State Street. Run by family, they treat their employees well. I often see employees that have been there over 10 years. That says a lot. Their new build out is great. They have an extensive selection of gourmet cheeses, a great deli, prepared foods, sushi and Asian counter, Colectivo coffee bar, nice bakery, great meat selection, and a nice wine and beer department. The environment makes shopping a pleasure. I almost always choose this market over the Metro Market and Sendik's in the area.

Recently renovated, this grocery store is my go to spot. A little pricier than neighboring Pick N Save but had fresher produce and more specialty foods and cheeses. Their cheese selection is amazing. They're also near a UPS Store and a Walgreens amongst other spots, so you can kill 5 shopping birds with one stone by going to this location.

They have the nicest, new coffee shop in here! You can buy pretty much anything in the store, ring up at the cafe, they'll slap a PAID sticker on it, and you can sit and enjoy yourself. There are many outlets if you need to plug in. I've had no problem staying here and working for 2-3 hours on my laptop. A+, would visit again.

I absolutely love this store... And for all who made comments on the high prices , you would be correct... But, the prices are why the quality of their food is so much better then the rest. Try looking at the meat dept in the other stores, besides sendiks, its pale and unappealing, but metcalfes is always fresh and looks appetizing. Same goes w their bakery, the other stores sell stale cupcakes, metcalfes has fresh bakery always. So yes the prices are higher, but you get what u pay for.

This is my favorite grocery store for a quick shop. It's very nice and has a decent selection of anything you're looking for. Their deli pico de gallo is my favorite. You pay for the fanciness of the place though. Prices are higher there than compared to Woodmans or even Pick N Save. For example, my favorite six-pack of beer is $2.50 more than Pick N Save.

Awesome cold deli & selection, but the prices are out of this world. $10.99 for a pound of chicken salad made from leftover rotisserie? The whole chicken is only like $7!! The hot bar is not well attended and is also way overpriced. I usually shop after work (5-6:30ish). Some hot bar items look like they've sat there literally all day. Not stirred, casseroles dried out and overheated to mush, things like wings so dried out and/or carmelized you could break a tooth. Yet the store is not afraid to charge top dollar for this. Very disappointing for an otherwise enjoyable, if expensive, store.

We had been going to Sendiks but it was so crowded and the aisles are so narrow. We found out Metcalfe's also has boars head deli meat we decided to try it. It is SO much better! Rich Lewandowski is the owner and is one of the finest human beings I have ever met. He cares about one thing - his customers. This is somewhere that I go when I am feelings down and after walking around and doing a little shopping I start to feel better. A very nice specialty grocery that takes up where the lack of Sendik's in the area, and the loss of Grasch's leave off. Prices vary from expensive to average. The star of the show here is finding all the things (and brands) you have missed, from childhood favorite Jiffy Pop to my dad's favorite streusel coffee cake filled with vanilla cream, to gourmet meats and cheeses, to imported everything. This store has been here for years, but used to be a Metcalfe's Sentry. I've been gone almost a decade and am wonderfully surprised to come back and find the Metcalfe name still here. The store is conveniently located in downtown Wauwatosa Village.

When the move was made to renovate the Sentry on State St. into a Metcalf's the design priority and aesthetic seem to be "sooooo faaanshyyyy". Everything in that building is designed to make you believe that you're in a classy joint. Full deli, bakery, the works. Theres a cheese display that is regularly changed with cuts nested in a soft bedding. The staff dresses sharp. Your groceries are bagged for you, the old fashioned way. Old women scold the teenage baggers for PUTTING THE EGGS ON THE BOTTOM YOU INCOMPETENT PIG. They play understated, classical music through the pa system. Mmmmmmm faaaannnnncccyyyy The clientele are what you'd expect. You know the type. Close your eyes and imagine them. A parking lot full of hybrid cars, a few BMW's, maybe a Mercedes. And contained in those cars are white bread, upper middle class, basic as all hell America. So when you're pulling in 30 minutes before close to buy a single digeorno pizza because you're tired, overloaded with classes and your job and this is the closest thing to the house dammit; you're going to feel like an even bigger loser. If you live in the heights, you already buy your groceries here, why are you reading this? If you don't. You're gonna pay the extra dollar to feel faaanshyyyy. If you're cool with that, good for you for being confident in your identity. If you're not. Hey man, the rest of us are going to Woodman's and Aldi. Ain't no shame in it.
