Reviews of Capitol Market
Love the capitol flea market. There’s so many great shops to eat and try diff things. Gift shops and not to mention get fresh farm grown produce from grits farm and tons of beautiful flowers. Always enjoy walking around looking at all the pretty flowers
Impressive market place. The building is clean, easy to find, and well-organized. We visited the Capitol Market on the event day. The event was well organized. There are a lot of people but it is not too crowded. The place is spread out for vendors to set up their products and display stuff comfortably.
Food vendors are both inside and outside the building. That make it very easy for people and vendors to find things to eat. They offer variety kinds of food from Asian to American cuisines, including many local alcohol drinks.
Great place to sell your flowers or vegetables, they have reasonable prices compared to other places such as Walmart. Great place to have lunch, so many colors to see, I recommend the fish place for fish a sandwich, the best fish sandwich I ever had. Just bought a hot banana plant.
Not too busy of a place when we arrived. The staff was very hospitable.
Really enjoyed the selection of food, drink and snacks. Prices are very accommodating.
Loved this place! The colorful outdoor area draws you in and delicious options indoors. We bought lots of goodies.
Capitol Market is a great spot in Charleston. When the outdoor market is open for the season, there are a plethora of produce and floral vendors with a great array of products. Inside the Capitol Market, you'll also find a small offering of produce & fresh food items (The Purple Onion), fresh sushi (Sushi Garden), great wine/beer/cheese selections (The Wine Shop), chocolates (Holl's Chocolates), coffee (Mea Cuppa), fresh meat (Johnnie's Meat Market), WV-based goods (West Virginia Marketplace), good seafood (Fresh Seafood Company), and a wonderful restaurant on-site (Soho's). With many local events and wine tastings being held on the premises, the Capitol Market is a small hub for activity in the city.
Great selection, especially if you are looking for West Virginia items. Shop local and support the community. Plus, we got to see the Oscar Meyer mobile.
Great place. Free parking where we were able to park our 24 foot rv. The indoor area has lots of places to eat from sit down restaurant to meat Market, coffee shop, and more. We ate at Johnnie's Fresh Meats where you can buy meats or order as a deli. We ordered Philly Burger and Italian Sandwich. That plus a drink was $21.87 with tax. All was good except that the burger would be much better with more bell peppers. The large outdoor (covered) area of the market had fruit, veggies, and ice cream vendors.
We have been coming to Capitol Market for the past two decades when driving between homes. Pricing is a bit up but if you consider you are in the Capitol and the cost of rent then it makes sense. The outdoor farmers market is where prices normalize, and the quality of the fruits and vegetables are very high. Parking is a bit whack on weekends, but we've always found a spot. On nice days you can sit outside on the porch and watch the goings-on at the farmers market.
This place was truly an experience. We tried the clam chowder and crab cake at the fish market for lunch, then we went back for dinner at Soho. It was amazing. This place is a must see in downtown Charleston.
It's such a great place to find just about anything! We got chocolates from Holls and coffee from the cafe, and both were great! We loved strolling through the veggies that looked perfect. The quality definitely beats our grocery stores at home. I would definitely go back and try some of the seafood. They had alligator meat! How unique.
A super-cool local market with independent vendors and produce from local farms! 100% worth the visit!
Not really a farmers market, because it has some year round food shops, the market serves as a useful backup to in an area that has few food markets. Purple Onion has a good selection of fresh vegetables, herbs, and spices, although a bit pricey. Johnny’s Meat Market is good in a pinch. The fish at the seafood stand is not terribly fresh, but the lunches are ok. The wine and cheese store is fun, with great staff, but also expensive. There is a coffee shop and a place to get reasonably good sushi.
Spring harvest time is the best time to visit. That is when the local farm produce is on sale. I always stock up on the heirloom tomatoes,
Visit this farmers market every time I'm in Charleston... beautiful flowers, produce, West Virginia peaches last weekend and great sandwiches and butcher counter at Johnny's. Art displays and homemade ice cream. It's always a good time.
This place blew my mind! I didn't realize what I was walking into, cause they had everything you can imagine! It started with a farmers market type of deal, and they had every type of candy imaginable. Then it was sushi, fresh meat, wine, a couple restaurants. It was awesome! I'll definitely be spending a lot of time at this place!
It was good but went on holiday week so half of the things were not open.
Loved it, a nice surprise. Picked up wine and some delicious fresh stuffed rolls. Would definitely go back if in the area! The place was huge and charming!
So great for a Saturday morning stroll!! Picked up specialty chocolates and spoke to some shop owners. Neat hand-carved spoons and other local artifacts, a cafe, all foods including a deli, and a visitor center. This place needs fabric goods! Let's add hemp clothing, recycled cotton rugs and hand-dyed silk scarves!!
... ALSO a FANTASTIC selection of garden flora 🦋
Take the time to walk a few blocks down Capitol for random sights and delights... I absolutely loved the Pink Birch Boutique and had a great fuel up at the Bookstore 🤓
Nothing says spring better than Capitol Market! I go year round and love to see how they handle our 4 season changes but spring is my favorite. The flowers are gorgeous and as Mid May rolls around the vegetables start trickling in from GA & other southern states whose spring comes earlier than ours. All the vendors are so helpful and friendly and of course you can't forget to stroll inside where products from all over the state are sold including West Virginia Wines, J. Dickinson Salts and SO much more. You can dine inside at the fish shop, grab a sandwich, check out Johnnie's fresh meat market or dine inside or outside at Soho's. Charleston is extremely blessed to have this wonderful market located conveniently downtown and right off 77/64 so wherever you're from don't forget to stop by and enjoy this incredible place.
From sushi to seafood to WV jars to chocolate to meat. The Capital market is epic all in itself. Wines and coffee, candy and fruit. During December is one the best times to go to the market. They have trees and limbs and more.
The coffee place is one of the best around super good and the food depends on what you're looking for. I had the grilled cheese from Soho's and it was pretty good.. I have had better grilled cheeses before however.
I loved this market. It is definitely a diamond in the rough. It is bright, fresh, clean, and busy. I started with getting a salad from the purple onion and I also purchased the best honey crisp apples ever, I then went to Mecca Coffee and Holls chocolate. The people were all so polite and helpful with the exception of the sales employee at Holls. Their chocolates were amazing so it made up for a rude employee. This market also sell wine, fresh, fruits and veggies, houses a restaurant, sells fresh cute meat, seafood, and sushi. I will definitely come back during my monthly business visit.
Enjoy the photos!
Fresh produce inside & the best snacks. The farmers market is by far the best place to buy any sort of plant (flower or vegetable)
Great place to buy local products and good food. Good selection of wine, cheese, produce, fruit, hand crafts, etc. A must visit.
The fish market has the best fish sandwich HANDS DOWN. Although the size of the sides are less than before. But that's because of the lousy politics coming from the swamp in D.C.
Nice variety of vegetables with competitive prices. Watch out for a certain vendor though, she's not exactly honest. Otherwise it was a nice experience. Great for getting nice quality vegetables for your canning. For people with a food card, and children or over sixty, they'll triple your money (food card only). You to go to the office to exchange.
I loved the Capital Market! A fun find on a day trip to Charleston WV from Columbus on a Saturday afternoon. The best stuff was outside. Along with some terrific late season produce, we picked up a YELLOW pumpkin! Never seen one like it in all my 60 years. Fun!
Fantastic place and people! Was just passing through and I'm so glad i stopped
Love this market. There are a lot of local products that are great to explore. Today I bought organiz dog treats, locally brewed ales & BBQ sauces. Can't wait to try them.
Nice place for produce and other items. We stop there every time we go through the area.
This place is amazing. Inside has a good variety of groceries and local artisan stuff. But the real reason to come is when the outside market is booming with plants. Whether it's veggies or herbs, or house/outdoor plants, the market will blow you away. It is gorgeous. Well worth a weekend visit!
I tried awesome sushi, chocolate and great coffee here! The outside garden and vegetable markets were lovely!
Really love this place. Had a great chicken burger for lunch. Picked up some good coffee. Bought some WV made products. Love the selection of plants outside. One of my favorite stops in Charleston.
Interesting history at this location, was once a train depot. Now you'll find a variety of shops that may have something you need. Worth stopping by if your in the area.
Great coffee, great restaurants, happy people and awesome farmers market.
When you arrive your are treated with free parking and easy access. Then flowers and veggies.
Then you look around and you realize your standing in history. The closest thing that comes to this is the market in Venice
I recommend
They have so much to choose from and all the produce is so fresh and very high quality and the meat is excellent, very easy to find what you're looking for and they really go out of their way to help you, very clean and organized I absolutely love this place and plan on coming back real soon,if you haven't been you really should check it out, I love it so much.
I love this place! There is alot to choose from and everyone is so helpful and friendly. I couldn't think of a better place to social distance.
My first time visiting the Capitol market but I will be back it's only an hour and half away from me! And the big fish sandwich is hands down the best fish sandwich I've ever had! The raspberry jam is amazing! I can't say enough I love this place!!
Great place to buy flowers. If you're looking to plant an annual or perennial garden all of the best greenhouses gather here to sell the nicest plants.
Markets are generally a fun experience and this one was no exception.
If you go, you should try to go for lunch so you can try some food items. We tried the sandwiches from Johnnie's Fresh Meat's and were very satisfied with our choice. They were delicious and so full of flavor!
Everyone was also so friendly and helpful. And the weather was perfect to enjoy the outside tables.
Capitol market is great. I've gotten great plants there, great food, great gifts. Very convenient.
Me and my grandson had a blast at the market. So much to see inside and outside. Such a variety of produce and flower. Lots of beautiful mums. At the fresh seafood store inside they had Alligator meat for sale by the pound and my grandson had to have a pound. We fried it up and we all loved the flavor.
Great outdoor plant market. Neat clean market, easy parking.
You can get different foods, wines, seafood, coffee, candy, fruit, sushi, meats and restaurant. Outside they gear up for holidays with trees and spring with plants.
Nice atmosphere, cute shops. Only disappointment was Johnny's Meats doesn't do their great sandwiches anymore. Hard to find delicious deli sandwiches, now I'll go far to M & M Mart in Kanawha City.
Great little place , alot of diversity and fairly priced.
Food is always good here, I didn't get as many fries as I used too.
Visited Critch Field and picked up 3 beautiful hanging baskets for the porch. Associate was friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the different plants and options.
Great product and inexpensive ... Definitely would recommend.
Love the Capital Market, inside and outdoors. We visit multiple times each season for fresh produce and flowers. We also have lunch there, from time to time. Excellent
Great outdoor vendors. Locally grown produce that's amazing. The Purple Onion Market on the inside is open year round. The selection of fresh meat and seafood is priced great! There is not a musty seafood smell which is GREAT! There is a small Lego wall that kids can build on while having lunch.
Has a little of everything. Butcher, seafood, fresh local produce, craft beer and wine. One of Charleston's bright spots.
Was a very good experience. Everyone was friendly and there was a wide variety of vendors. I love the outside where they hold all of the plants. I just wish they had more 'homemade' products
Went with a friend. The flowers & plants are in bloom, the weather is gorgeous, the vendors are friendly, the lunch options are plentiful and delicious. (She got a gigantic salad from Purple Onion, I got a scrumptious sandwich from Johnnie's Fresh Meats, and there were several other vendors to choose from) An overall delightful experience!
One of our favorite stopping places for gifts and food items. A little pricey, but worth checking out.
This Is a fun marketplace with many different shops. Last time I was inside there was a gift type shop, a meat market, fresh produce, flowers, a place to buy different specialty beers, a restaurant, among other thugs. We offen participate in a parade that ends at the Capitol Market and they were always accommodating to us.
A very clean and friendly atmosphere. Most of the produce was cheaper than any nearby grocery stores.
Good place to visit and buy some fresh food as well as good snacks!
Picked up alot of unique foods, and beers, and spices. Outdoor market was great!
An old train station, so it's a linear building that allows you to walk through one store after another. Bought meat and produce. Great deals on meat at Johnny's! Won't buy meat anywhere else from now on. Loved the atmosphere!
I absolutely love the capitol market! They have amazing vendors that grow quality plants. I’ve shopped at the Capitol Market for the past 3 years to fill my 200sq. ft. Garden up. They also offer an amazing program for people who receive SNAP benefits (food stamps) where for every dollar you get two, and if you have kids…every dollar is tripled. So spending $50 in stamps can be stretched to $150 if spent to buy crops at the farmers market. The restaurant inside is also great, it’s worth the visit!
One of the best outdoor markets in WV. Indoor shops are great and the eateries are top notch.
Very clean. Friendly people. Found very interesting things like odd meats! Amazing selection of west virginia souvenirs.
This was such a great gem. The chocolate place was delicious!! The veggies were tasty. Very good.
Produce and plants outside looked great. Inside shops seemed a bit pricey but lots of great and unique items. Nice layout and display. Fun place to check out.
Always has seasonal plants and produce. The best veggies around, and they're priced well. Great atmosphere, plus all the neat food and shops inside. Old train station, adequate parking.
I love shopping here, I have to stop in regardless of time of year needless to say the summer is my favorite with all the fresh fruits & vegetable, the spring with all the new flowers, plants, and garden seedlings, there the fall with of course mum's, pumpkins, canning apples, peaches, & canning supplies.
Lots of fresh veggies still..
Kinda crowded..
Lots to choose from inside..especially snacks..
Prices got higher..of course
Local goods, great food and wonderful customer service.
Large outdoor area with variety of plants and flowers. Indoors has a few unique eateries and a few markets with spices, produce, etc. Could use a little more variety but, given the size, there's not much left to expand. Worth a visit for your cooking needs or just to see what's new.
Very nice market. It's open year round and has an amazing assortment of items to buy. I was really upset that the meat market no longer does burgers made fresh.
Very cute place. So glad I stopped. Lots of things to choose from. Fresh produce and pumpkins (it is almost Halloween). Then a wine shop, a meat market, and locally made items. So glad no stopped. Very clean and well loved. Definitely worth the stop.
It's a great place to get your garden plants, vegetables from other gardens, wines, sushi, big fish sandwich, whatever you're looking for!
They always have a good variety of things to choose from when you stop in.
It is a nice palce for buying flower plants. And there are some food and driking places on the other side of aisle
I just moved from Maryland to West Virginia Charleston in June. This is the best little town I've ever been in I love it here and the Capital Market has helped me out so much with getting to know this area the people are wonderful there I am blessed
This place was fun to visit. They have tons to look at and even some places to eat. My husband and I went with our 2-year-old, and she had a blast looking at everything they had. I took a star off because the vegetables are on the higher end of price, and our carrots we bought were expired (didn't notice until we got home), and they had bacterial growth. I wish I had noticed at the store. The prices of various items are really high as well; some things I noticed were a lot higher than I've seen elsewhere. But all in all, it was a fun time, and it will be my go-to if I ever need anything special or unique.
So glad we went to this staple in Charleston. Well worth the time
Beautiful marketplace! Inside had some great vendors for coffee, gifts, chocolates, produce, meat, beer and wine, and a restaurant. Outside on the Sunday in May we were there had several vendors all selling plants
Great bunch of folks here! More than willing to help you out. And food was great.
Open floor plan..Clean and well lit..Nice and courtice people.
This is a wonderful marketplace to come and visit if you're living in Charleston or are coming through to visit. I recently moved here and I absolutely loved this location. They have some great products, meats, coffee, and chocolates. Everything that you could want/need, I'd highly recommend visiting.
Love all the fresh picked, locally grown, good selection and fair pricing. My 1st time bk in 10 yrs while id been out of state. Very crowed and not that much parking or shopping carts. Go there as early as you can so hopefully you wont have those problems AND MOST IMPT hopefully a little cooler. My 1st time bk was when raggata just started. BESIDES SOOO SWELTERING HOT, IT WAS PACKED WHEN WE GOT THERE AT 10. But luckly no prob with parking ,& a cart. The 2 thgs that they didnt have there that was part of why i went was to get a bushel or 2 of apples to freeze for winter for fresh cooked apples and mostly for yr ground homemade apple cake. Watermelon and canelopes. I though theyd be in season by then, but nope. The peachs this yr are so tiny but taste GREAT!! I got prob 20+ lbs to put in freezer already cooked and measured out for making my moms top best homemade peach cobblers! Never, ever canned peachs. They were i thk 2.50 lb. I got 4 bags of green beans at 3.49 lb. Very gd beans. Gd sz. I also got corn. Omg thats sooo gone up! I thk it was maybe 6 or 8.00 for dz ears. Blew my mind!! But when i seen my kids eating it & their faces. It was WORTH EVERY PENNEY. They also had a lot of differnt plants to select from as well as beautiful flowers in pots. I got my moms fav, peony plants. Different from the bushes. Bushes stay bloomed all summer vs plants ur lucky to get i read and by watching mine 7 - 10 of bloom. Plant them and theyll come bk every summer. Low maintence. Low sun light. Lol. Tons of tiny ants all over the flowers thenselves which polinates them. So watch out when you cut some to brg inside cause if you dont, youll have ants. No real maintenance which is perfect for me because i have always just like my mom had black thombs. Lol. I got 3 tall plants for 59.99. A bit high in my opinion but had to get them as gifts to have whenever they looked at them, theyll thk of my BLESSED BEST MOM! Oh. What was a life saver to me & brought one for a gd friend. Theres a scarf you can buy at prob every dollar store for one of the BEST $5 ive spent is an abt 4 or 5 inch wide and abt 3.5 ft lg special material that u wet & i always freeze mine the night bef in a sm freezer bag to be ready nxt morn to take with you when its soo hot. You pull that out & wrap it around ur neck and ill wipe my head off 1st, wrap my neck and let the rest go dwn on my chest. Its a life saver for me cause it stays pretty chilly all day. I have a bad heart ,& lungs from cancer. I take heart meds that say stay out of direct heat and i plain out dont do very hot westher. The wrap lets me stay out lger. Check one out, youll be hooked. Hope this helps you.
I’ve gotten steaks at Johnny’s meat market great experience
Lots of fun. Reminded me of Boston Public Market - anything you could want under one roof with friendly people and a fun environment. Think "refined hipsters over the age of 30." If I lived in Charleston I'd come here at least twice a week.
A wonderful place to get fresh local produce, hand crafted local (YUMMY) chocolate from Holl's, wine, seafood, a butcher, and more all in one great location with free parking! Currently hosting Festivall Fall with the Harvest Fair.
I love my visit here nice and clean. Would go back again
We were there late in the day and they had plenty of fresh produce the price was ok but nothing really in bulk i/e a tomatoes by the bushel or half bushel. so it was kind of a miss for this trip. But, if you are close buy and need ingredients for supper it would be a hit for sure.
Variety of items that can be hard to find in the box stores. Always enjoy shopping the market.
Modern trendy, hipster vibe. Seems there is an outdoor market in warm months.
Nice variety of vendors & goods.
Fun interactive visitor board.
I took a walk thru video but looks like only still photos may be added to review 😔
Enjoyed coffee and a sandwich and my wife got to sit on Santa's lap and get a candy cane!
Very nice place to visit and find produce. I noticed some of it was local and some was imported from other states. If your looking to support local farmers you might want to ask where it was grown.
Wonderful amount of plants outside during the summer months. Inside holds a variety of vendors, including fruits and veggies, wine, beer and cheese, chocolate, seafood, a butcher and local artisans.
Enjoyed it seeing the weiner Mobil with the girlfriend brought joy to my life
Many places to eat. The seafood and the fresh sea food company is really good definitely true to it's name. Soho's is also good a lot to choose from. Mecuppa's cold brew is delicious.
Came here while visiting my Grandfather. Easy parking, easy to get around. Courteous workers at all stands. Perhaps the most unique combination of goods I've ever seen! Produce was fresh and large. 10/10 would recommend.
Great food and just a very nice place to visit
A nice place. Had alot of choices for nibbling. The bulk spice section was amazing. Want to return in warm weather. Imagine it's better spring/summer.
Great. Hard to find parking the the vendors are wonderful! Today they had a wonderful children's event. Lots of options and good prices from all vendors!
I enjoy walking through, shopping at Purple Onion, and Johnnie's Fresh Meat Market
We love it. So many awesome vendors there selling fruits, veggies, flowers, seasonal stuff. We especially love to hang out in the Gritts greenhouse and farms sections. It's addicting. Great prices too and great selection of food products, plants etc.
Highly recommend. You will enjoy.
My regret is that I could not explore this little market as I would have liked to. I feel that the write up that is on google should be a bit more explicit on what "dog friendly" is. We walked to this market with our dog thinking that "dog friendly' meant that we have our dog with us, this is NOT so. Our dog was not welcome. My assumption is that your dos is welcome when the market extends outside. We each took turns walking through the market while one of us waited outside with our dog. The market was very interesting, but as previously written, due to this misunderstanding, we did not get an opportunity to really see all that the market offered.
A very interesting place
I recommend
Great local produce, meats, coffee, and amazing selection of vegetable seedlings and annual plants.
Great place to stop for local goodies for foodies.
Great place to walk around! Nice selection of goods! Any time I am in Charleston, Capitol Market is always on my Must Do List.
Great prices on plants and produce. They have amazing offering from many sellers, even large names in the area such as Gritts Farm!
Just a good place to shop and have a meal.
It's an awesome little spot that deserves five stars but I knocked it down a peg due to so many empty stalls in the outdoor market, I'd love to see it filled with different vendors.
Overall, a great little market with fresh fruit and veggies from local farmers and a restaurant at the back. Free parking in front. My wife and I will be back.
Delicious fresh produce, wide variety of items and eating options. We're always finding something new. Love this place. We make it a point to go every time we're going near Charleston.
Great selection of live plants outdoors and local products indoors. Git there kind of late in the day and it was very quiet.
Just a really cool and interesting place. We were there in June and bought fresh, tasty tomatoes and fresh, yummy strawberries from a couple of the outdoor booths. Inside, we found delicious Italian Blu Cheese. The restaurant menu looked interesting, but we were between meals, so we hope to have the opportunity to go back.
Capitol Market is a great place for plants, food, and many other things. I highly recommend having a visit if you're in the area.
Thought it was a really neat market place and had tons of fresh fruit and vegetables. Also inside there were several things to buy, from jams, jellies, sauces, and candy to alligator meat.
Great restaurant and store. Little expensive, but fresh and has some Indian lentils
They are knowledgeable and you can find anything from Bison to Brown beans fresh salad to anything that's in season from the garden.
Love Love Love this place .. I get all my flowers, fruits, veggies from here plus some of outside flower bed decor ... There is always something pretty & cute as well as reasonably priced here ... !! 😊 …
I love Capitol Market! Great place!
Lots of gems at this location. A wide variety of beers and wines can be found here as well as the local vendors and farms the have booths and stands set up. Everyone seems friendly and knowledgeable if questions are asked. Definitely worth going when you can.
Super fun. Ate at Sohos. Our server was Jess and she did a great job. Prompt and friendly. Cute spots to shop. Easy parking. Glad we stopped.
Very cool Iocal market! Fresh produce, lots of plants, conveniently located and friendly vendors!
We loved the variety of shops and food available. Regardless of the pandemic, the shops were quite alive. It was worth driving back 45 min to check them out. We also bought some great alternative wine flavors from WV which were fantastic!
Fresh and Fantastic! There is something for everyone here! The outdoor section is full of plants, fruits and veggies with so many offerings you can easily spend an entire day shopping for your favorites! Inside is more than you can hope for with coffee, wine, crafts, and the purple onion market! I left with some amazing honey, pepper mustard, fresh produce, several marinades, gorgeous hanging baskets, and a few local crafts that were high quality! Spend some time here, you won't regret it!
The outside was kinda under whelming at the 4p hour. It seemed everyone was kinda over it for the day. Limited farm fresh produce, but I did get some great summer squash. The inside was buzzing slightly more. Maybe enclosure the outside space to beef up foot traffic?
Great place for fresh produce
Loved the Capitol Market! Had yummy lunch with my daughter and one of my nieces. Yummy veggies and beautiful plants!
This place is great! They have a little of everything. The produce outside is extensive and affordable.
Just visited the outside vendors for some plants. Was able to find exactly what I wanted and then some. Never disappointed when I go with a specific item in mind.
Clean and cool
This place is truly mind-blowing.if you've never been then you should make some time to stop by and check it out. It's a great experience for the whole family. Well I thought so anyways.
Nice train station or warehouse converted to market right near center of town. Inside restaurant and 5 different shops, including a rather expensive local canned goods and sauces, very extensive and varied butcher shop even selling duck, a chocolatier, a local produce and small grocery. Outside appears to be a large under cover open air area that has plaques for a number of farms that most likely sell seasonal produce, but since it is fall 1 place was selling produce and pumpkins and the other 4 just pumpkins and gourds. Probably great in the summer.
Love strolling through this iconic market. So well organized and it has an amazing selection of everything from candles to cheeses to sushi to coffee to meats and more. The outdoor market with fresh flowers and vegetables plus the patio bar is fun toooo. Just well done Charleston. Now to begin acquiring the buildings and abandoned homes around it and make it the arts district. Wow how cool it could be....
Great local flavor. Good options for produce and meets and seafood as well as wine and cheese and chocolates. Lots of locally produced items very charming good coffee house as well.
I had a great time. Of course I sat in the beer garden while my wife and mom shopped for flowers. Pretty sure that worked out best for everybody involved. 2 Big Timber IPAs is apparently how long flower shopping takes. The 5 stars is for having a beer garden.
The lady I met who sold me some plants, was so nice and knowledgeable. The weather was nice, the day was beautiful. A lady gave us free peaches because we didn't have cash on us. Such nice people!!
Great place to shop, found what I was looking for and bought something I never thought about getting until I saw it in one of the shops. Love this place
This is a great market. Outside vendors have beautiful mum's, excellent produce choices, and fall decorations. Inside vendors have a variety of foods, jewelry, candy, prepared salads, sushi, etc. Excellent choices for a quick lunch. We had lunch at Soho restaurant and our meals were absolutely delicious. Our waitress was always attentive and pleasant. We enjoyed every minute of our time here in the market and restaurant. Definitely, a place to visit if you're in the area.😀
Really nice place lots of stuff
Johnny's meet market is the best place when you are getting a big order of steak and chicken to feed a bunch of people 😋 …
This was one of the best parts of my trip.loved the fresh food, flowers, and friendly people in all small shops inside.
Capital Market is a lovely food and gift shopping gem in Charleston. I loved each of the unique boutique style shops within the old depot building and all of it’s original character - and each of the farm stands outside with fresh produce and plants galore. It’d be a cute spot for a weekend afternoon date!
Fresh fruits, vegetables and a Wonderful meat market.
Such lovely flowers. Great selection and very helpful.
We had the Mango Shrimp and Volcano rolls - delicious. What really made this place for me was the lady running the front end. She was so gracious and welcoming - I just wanted to make sure she knows it was appreciated.
Great place to catch lunch, or just to do a little local shopping. Super fine Swiss chocolate at Holls Chocolate store. Johnny's meat Market had the best sandwiches, ate outside on patio. Great family atmosphere.
Awesome cute market filled with lots of tasty things to eat.
Friendly family type atmosphere. Great food. You have to try the fish dinners!!! They have everything. Lots of West Virginia crafts including books and locally grown produce. If you go you will love it and will go back.
Always free parking, handicap accessible, and friendly staff.
A favorite spot of mine to get bulk spices, jams, fresh produce from local farmers, and a tasty lunch at one of the indoor restaurants. Make sure to walk through the full market and outside where the plants are too.
What a special sensory atmosphere. You can't help but smile wondering through all of the shops. This is a must stop when visiting downtown Charleston. It is a Wow experience!
Great place as always. Get the raspberry white chocolate iced coffee it's to die for. Woman at WV gift place is so friendly and a joy to chat with.
I just love shopping here. The inside and outside vendors are such a delight! One of my favorite places! Great plants and produce. Plus the goodies inside are ab fab!
My family and I had a great time! Something enjoyable to do on a rainy day.
The capitol market is a lovely place to buy locally grown food and other plants. I would definitely recommend visiting! The vendors are lovely and the selection is large. It’s a nice place to walk around even if you don’t plan on purchasing anything. My only complaint is that parking can be an issue depending on the season. Otherwise 10/10 would recommend! :)
I seen nothing great about the place. Wish they had done something for the homeless that try and survive just feet away. To me it's just a glorified fancy place for the people who would rather brag about how much they paid for lunch than even wonder if the people they can't see out back even ate today.
Just my opinion, if you love the place walk around back.
I love going to the market for fresh, local produce. They have a nice selection of veggies, fruits and flowers. The store is right beside of it and they sell lots of different canned goods and herbs ect.
Very nice market lots of neat products and vendors. Fun place to spend a hour or two. Neighborhood is a little rough but nothing dangerous. Will definitely go back again.
Love this place ..great produce
Not one stand had corn on the cob and it seemed as though very few choices of tomatoes. I love this place so maybe it's been a rough season. I'll go back soon and hope to give 5 stars!
I'm a big fan of reusing old buildings, and that's exactly what they did here. There's sushi, a deli, good coffee, chocolate truffles wine market, possibly a restaurant, and more. It's a casual place with outside seating to enjoy your food purchases. The farmers market out front has great produce, and lots of plants. This is a great stop if you're in the area. There's also an ATM on premises.
Very cute market and great way to spend a few hours if you need to :) The coffee place here is delicious and the market area is super cute. They have seating and I got to do some homework while having a coffee in a lively atmosphere!
Great place for flowers and plants. Strolling thru the venue to pick up some fresh goodies
Nice people, great products, and no complaints. It's a very good down home feeling farmer's market that I wasn't expecting for Charleston. We went for meat at Johnny's, and it was great quality and good prices. The employees were fantastic.
We really enjoy this place. The farmers market is an obvious attraction, but it is also one of my favorite lunch stops. Several quick, inexpensive, and good lunch spots. I like to sit on the porch and watch people walk by while eating.
LOVE the vendors and all the options here. Kid friendly too.
We enjoyed going into the market something for overpriced some less.
Very nicely set up. Each store is marked as it's own. Everything is clean, and well kept. There is a huge nursery along side that looked wonderful. Definitely worth visiting for a walk through to at least get a cup of coffee and some swiss chocolate.
Top quality wine, beer, and cheese shop. Nice sushi and seafood stands. Very good coffee bar. Solid butcher. Quality veggie stand/mini grocery. And a WV products shop with all kinds of neat, local items. Just about the best Charleston has to offer.
The Capital Market has always been a favorite place for buying my herb plants, fresh veggies and flowers.
Great to walk around and get some fresh, seasonal produce or plants. If you are looking for a WV souvenir or gift, go to the indoor shop just before the restrooms. And you must try the Big Fish sandwich from the indoor fish stall. It is huge and so yummy!
Nice place with lots of local foods
Very nice linear layout. Local produce and products. From around the State. Good chocolate. Though I thought some things were a little over price, for the quality
Good shops. Specialty items you can't find elsewhere. I went for the coffee, but bought two bottles of wine in addition to a bag of one of my favourite African coffee beans. Plants outside.
We love the fish and cheese mongers.
This was a cute little market that my team and I killed 2 hours in waiting to board a plane. They have a grocery, sushi bar, coffee shop, and sandwich station all in the same building. There were other vendors there, but we didn't stop there
We always love this place.
Great selection of different local shops and local goods, plenty of great products from all the vendors, great food and drink options. Nice atmosphere, plenty of parking
Fresh veggies, green beans, corn on cob, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash ,zucchini, flowers, places to eat inside, Johnnie's meat market
Capitol Market is diverse and moderately convenient. Since the old Farmers Market morphed into Capitol Market, the prices have increased, and I don't like that, but the freshness and selection can't be beat. The inside stores are aimed at a more upscale clientele, but I do occasionally partake. The Purple Onion offers decent produce year round. Johnny's Meat Market offers the best meat around. My main complaint, other than prices, is that they close at 6:00 pm. For a lot of people who work until five o'clock and have a commute, that's not at all convenient.
Always a treat to visit, shop and dine. Outdoor vendor area is beautiful almost year round. Great variety of dining options, wine and cheese shop, excellent fresh seafood market, sushi stand, Holls chocolates and Purple Onion produce. This place should part of your regular shopping routine.
Stopped by while on vacation in Charleston and don't regret my time spent here. Cool little market, lots of unique groceries and vendors.
Groceries, wine, meat, coffee, and candy all in a craft show style marketplace.
I had somehow never been here since I've been an adult despite growing up here and living here much of the time. Definitely a mistake. Easy place to pick up gifts and the Italian restuarant located inside was fantastic! Felt very warm and inviting.
This is a wonderful stop to get everything from dinner and groceries to fine chocolates, sushi, and wine. For those from out of town, you can get a great sampling of WV manufactured goods such as glass, salt, and a wide array of foods. This is a great place to find gifts for friends and family.
Went to Johnnie's meat market for Italian sausage. in and out in less than 10 minutes. Sausage was outstanding, as usual.
Incredible selection. Purple onion is a great little market inside. Johnnie's was a great lunch stop!
Everyone is very friendly and helpful.
Fun place to shop for plants. Good selection and of course bought quite a few.
I went to Mia Cuppa. It was a good little shop. Tried their mixed coffee and lemonade special they got for the month of June. It was suprisingly delicious. As for the service there, I am always treated with a heart warming smile from their staff.
Greatest selection of flowers, vegetables and produce around. Very affordable. Inside, there is a coffee bar, a wine and cheese shop, a chocolate shop, a fresh seafood market and restaurant, as well as hand rolled sushi bar. They also have a fresh meat market with a huge selection. SoHo's Italian restaurant has a great atmosphere and has great food at mid range prices.
The flower selection was just amazing and overwhelming. There is so many flowers to look at and pick. I will continue to go to the capital market for all of my flower, plant, and vegetable shopping. Also, the meat market was the best I've ever seen. The meat selection and cuts or astronomical. The meat was so beautiful. Everyone should try to make a stop at Capital Market.
Fabulous space with multiple shopping options including wine, cheeses chocolates, coffee, fresh produce, sushi, and several dine inoptions.
We always enjoy our visits to Capitol Market! Wonderful meat and seafood, great wine and cheese, coffee, sushi and unique items you won't find just everywhere... It's a must stop when you are in the area!
Ate the big fish sandwich. Out door market starting to open. Bought a pineapple bush with a pineapple already started
Very nice and pleasant market indoors and out. There were a lot of people there, but it wasn't crowded or hard to move around. Love to see people unloading their produce from pickup to market stand--literally "farm to table." Good parking and easy access to freeway.
Fresh food and product from local business. Staff is friendly and helpful. Produce is great. Salads are my favorite! Vegetarian Southwest is awesome and more should be added to the shelf 😉 …
Lots of options for fresh foods including some harder to find items. Several specialty shops that are open year round. Open air section is seasonal and offerings also change seasonally.
Love this place. So many different stands for fruits, veggies, and now pumpkins. They also had a potting/planting class going on. Could be fun. Inside different shops, seafood, candy, Wine. Cafes to eat at and usually have ice cream.
I enjoyed touring your market. I was from out of town and this gave me something to do. I bought some wine mix, chocolate and enjoyed looking at all of the fresh foods. Thank you, Cathy Ellsworth
I love this place!!!! Everyone is so nice and all the fruits and veggies! Love it
Very nice, muy interesting items. Flowers, produce, crafts, spices, jams & honey, meats seafood, coffee, etc...
Brings it all together as a fine and unique experience. Great dining, amazing coffee and friendly service. discover items you won't find elsewhere. Pick up information on local festivals and places to see and then relax and read as you enjoy a cup of coffee at Mea Cuppa coffee bar.
I always come to the market at least once a week during the summer and fall to stock up on fresh veggies and fruits from the local farmers.
The indoor vendors are not to be missed either. Mea Cuppa Coffeebar has some of the best coffee around, and the Wine Shop carries a fantastic selection of local beers.
I also try to take friends and family here when they visit, and it's always been well received!
Big selection of garden fresh products from local farms.
Nice local farmers market with fresh fruits and vegetables
Just was killing time in the area before a comedy show and checked this place out. Very cute little place with a lot of little shops.
Beautiful plants, both veggies and flowers. All seemed reasonably priced.
Great farmers market and lots of choices. The veggies were very tasty and fresh. Best tomatoes and pickling cucumbers I have gotten all summer.
Amazing selection of perennials, annuals and tropical housplants in the spring and through the end of summer. In the mid to late summer its the place to go for fresh produce and in the late fall go there to get your pumpkins and decorative gourds.
This is such a cool area. I can't wait to see it in the spring. Loved everything about it. Charleston is smart to have such a great place to visit.
It was so good to be back at "Let's Get Cooking"! Chef Paul has a fun way of teaching and demonstrating cooking techniques. The samples were delicious.
Absolutely love this place. Gorgeous flowers and plants. The people there are great to help you find out what you need for your summer flower needs.
Great staff, events and seasonal produce!
Love it they have a little bit of everything from sushi to wine to Swiss chocolate and the purple onion for healthy fresh produce and more. We live spring and summer with all the flowers
Soho's restaurant had delicious food, large servings, and great service. The outdoor garden center had a wealth of beautiful, healthy plants. Limited parking but we got a space.
Wide variety of plants and produce outside, several specialty shops inside, love it.
They have such a wide variety of things! I got the sushi, and it was amazing! They had fresh produce as well. I recommend stopping by!
Great indoor market with tons of local vendors with a wide range of options for food, good and coffee. I highly recommend the coffee shop in this place. You would never expect the quality of the coffee you can get in this little place. It is surprisingly world class.
I highly recommend this place, especially this place, especially The Wine Shop. Definitely talk to Hunter if you need a recommendation. He knows his stuff.
So far, we've had some of the tomatoes and canteloupe from the Purple Onion, and they were great!
The country style ribs, complete with a cooking suggestion from the clerk, were delicious... We'll definitely be back!
Lots of beautiful flowers and great prices!
Extensive produce and plant selection!! The prices are good and the vendors are friendly and helpful. The different selections on the inside of the market are great too with sushi, seafood, sandwiches, and a healthy market. I love it here
Found this place on an accidental stop while traveling…beautiful market with incredible options!! Plants, produce, groceries, wine, chocolate, fresh meat and cheese! 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!
Had very little selection when I arrived in the early afternoon. Had to swap my package deals for more expensive items in the freezer. Prices are rather high
Vendors are friendly and helpful. There's always a great selection of seasonal items available.
Most vendors very nice. Produce and flowers very expensive but most good quality.
Smaller than I thought it would be, very densely packed. Prices for food are rather high. Overall interesting worth going.
I absolutely love coming here with my kids and mom, looking at plants, getting fresh produce, etc. I especially love Crihfield's (unsure if I spelled that right), the helpful employees at Gritt's, and Bostic's pricing. At Gritt's, I don't necessarily love their prices sometimes, but they have plants others don't and the employees rock. Brandy at Crihfield's is super helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and just amazing - she's my favorite. She's literally so awesome that she switched which shop is my favorite when she switched jobs lol. 'Bostic' isn't the most conversational guy but he's very reasonable and helpful. I talk too much and he humors me which is also a bonus 🤣
Great selection of plants and for the most part very reasonable prices. Was able to purchase 90% of what I needed for my vegetable garden in one place.
Little bit for everyone candy shop, wine selection area, meat and seafood area, fresh produce area, and holls chocolates to boot it doesn't get much better.
Lovely market for produce, plants, and local gifts/trinkets
I enjoy Capital Market our Family visits Johnnie's Meat Market often. Plus they have an amazing Farmers Market in there when it's in season, they also have a very nice Restaurant and a Produce store called The Purple Onion for those months that the Farmers market isn't in season.
What an amazing market! wonderfulselection of different quality foods, fresh farmers market quality produce, vast selection of beers and
wines, gourmet and hard to find items like exotic spices and coffees. Places to sit and eat. I highly recommend.
The vendors were rude. With the exception of Ed and Ellen they were very nice and friendly. Also the little older lady from Quincy area was sweet. But the rest of them will not get my money. I spent almost 100 on those two vendors.
I didn't go through the whole thing but from what I saw it was great the chocolate shop smelled really good prices were alittle high but not more than expected. The coffee stop smelled good and the prices are terrible.
I really love coming here to get my produce and they have the best smelling and longest lasting home made tarts I've ever purchased. But, the time is wrong on Google. I thought it closed at 7, and got there at 6 and they were closing up shop. Bummer.
Great variety of local merchants who offer a wide selection from fine wine to chocolates to cheese, fresh meat and veggies plus a local restaurant and several cafe-style places. Definitely worth a visit.
Vendors are friendly and happy to chat about the plants they sell at the outside spaces. The indoor areas have gourmet food shops, local produce, and West Virginia made gifts.
Many people talk about the food you can buy here, I'm sure it's good. In the summer and fall seasons, this is the GO TO spot for flowers! So many options!
Beautiful healthy plants at good to excellent prices and very good selection and service. Beautiful looking fruits and vegetables could not buy on a long car trip. If return to Charleston will return to Capital market.
Always great vendors with a super selection of seasonal produce, pumpkins or Christmas trees. The parking lot stays full for a reason! And inside the building there are truly wonderful shops. The Purple Onion is my favorite.
I love everything about the Capital Street Market. Great fresh produce and flowers available in season from friendly farmers, the Purple Onion for grocery shopping and ready made salad. Various places to buy meat, fish, cheese, sandwiches and a candy shoppe. A coffee shoppe that fixes honest to goodness hot tea! Clean bathrooms. The WV store for gifts and handmade jellies and sauces. Lots to see and buy. I go every time I am in the Charleston area.
Amazing selecting of locally grown fruit, veggies and flowers.... Great shopping for many local gifts... So many delicious treats in season.
Great! Fresh fruits and veggies... friendly vendors
A wonderful place to visit and wonderful deals
I just love capitol market. Get good deals on fruits and vegetables. It’s a lovely market better than supermarkets
Love it here. Always best to shop local merchants and you have a good choice here. Its always nice and clean and the vendors are always super friendly.
Great selection of plants from Proven Winners to homegrown seeded herbs, veggies and flowers. We found plants that I haven't seen anywhere else
We often stop here on our road trips. Great pit stop for food and good food at that. The little seafood counter with clam chowder and crab cakes is my favorite spot.
Really nice shopping area with a large selection of gourmet cooking items and ready to eat food choices.
Always great flowering plants from local WV growers. Reasonably priced. Vegetable plants available, lots if grower tips! Indoor market has lots of goodies, from a butcher shop, to WV souvenirs, to home made candies! Yum!
This is my new "Grocery Go To"... The organic selection is amazing! Such unique items and everything is priced reasonable. Love this market!
First time visiting. Just awesome.
They have a little of everything. Food and coffee are great. You can buy meats, seafood, etc. Outside always has good produce, flowers, plants, and great selection of pumpkins !
Such a nice shop with lots of vendors in one cohesive center. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables and locally made goodies. Stop here for some fun shopping and some lunch or dinner as there are a few dining spots on location.
Fun little open air market in the heart of Charleston. Lively atmosphere and pleantiful selection of fresh & local produce. Very friendly community environment and great way to spend an afternoon as well as supporting the locals.
Great place. So much Good eating stuff to choose from and specialty Foods and gifts. And the people are very hospitable.
Wonderful array of fresh fruits and vegetables
Welcoming and clean. I always enter on the far end and stroll my way through. They have such a variety of foods. The cheese selection is one of the best in the country and they offer suggestions of pairing with an amazing array of wines from all over the world. The fresh meat and fish are spectacular....and if you want to just sit and have coffee and people watch this is a great spot. SoHo is an amazing restaurant and the frittata is massive and delicious. The wait staff delightful and the manager, William a gem.
Everytime I am in Charleston this place is on my MUST GO places. It should be your also. PS right across the street diagonally is an amazin Bread Store too with gluten free options that rock.
Totally awesome!!!! Tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and even beautiful plants.
The Capitol Market is an eclectic mix with an ever-changing set of options outdoors as well as the independent vendors inside. One consistent theme with the indoor options is the uniform quality. Quite the selection of interesting viandes and hard goods. Definitely worth an explore when in Charleston.
I love going to the Market! Reminds me of all the beauty and 'fruits' of our labors when I was a young person,, growing up at our farm.
Had the garden vegetable plants I needed. They were very good quality plants.
From every shop I try the service is amazing with kind people willing to help with my selection. Especially the sushi which is expertly made with extrame attion to detal and taste. The coffee as well is a wonderful experiance. Not to forget the ever busy fish market that is never short of perfect. Still so much more to try will always come back as long as it is open!
Very interesting place! Enjoyed the open air market and if you're in the market for veggie plants or flowers it's definitely the place to go!
Always a good time! Beautiful flowers and a plethora of locally grown vegetables. Never complete without a pint or two with Eileen at Soho's. She's the darling of the Market!
cool, fun, neat market area... Outside section has Christmas trees this time of year; plants, plantings and flowers other times. Grocery/market area, coffee shop, lots of trinkets and WV souvenirs. Also, houses Soho restaurant, with a varied menu and good food.
Nice place for fresh fish meal, or good wine, fresh fruit and vegetables, many other delectable condiments and food items. Open air Farmers Market in warm weather.
Fresh produce, fresh meat, and sushi! Not to mention all the other fantastic things the market has to offer, such as wine, chocolate, and some other odds and ends.
Beautiful healthy plants. Highly recommend for all your planting needs
I love the capital market, the people are friendly too. However I was not a fan of it for trick or treat with my kids. Place was too packed for very little candy. I think I circled the place for a parking spot 4 times before giving up and parking at habitat for humanity instead and just walking. Very exhausting trip for a mother with kids to come out with like 5 pieces of candy. I am happy though that the towncenter mall had trick or treat too right afterwards to make up for our awful time. I do stress Ive never had a bad day at the capital market, that was truly the first.
Always love Capitol Market! Great selection of shops. If you're in Charleston give this place a visit.
Beautiful selection and good prices. Save some money and shop local!
Neat little market with quite a bit to offer. Not as big as many other city markets, but it has a good selection of goods and produce with a few restaurants as well. The wine shop is also a great stop.
Good products but some are more expensive than expected. Johnny's meat market has very good meat at good prices. Outside vendors are reasonably priced but only a few take SNAP or credit cards.
Diverse variety of shops for locally grown fruits, and veggies, along with local meat shop, cheese, wine and beer shop, fish market as well as WV made products in one stop. Plus pick up a fabulous coffee!
There is not much that this place doesn't have. Growing so much every year. Excellent wine and beer selection. Amazing fish samwiches. Excellent gourmet chocolate. I could go on and on.
Farmer's market and MORE. Outside and INSIDE too. Nice surroundings, diverse offerings, good restaurants, fresh produce. Charleston people are lucky to have this place and I am surprised that it is not rated one of the best in the country.
All kinds a stuff, really friendly staff comparable pricing and some out of the ordinary stock
Always great produce to be had! Also plenty of different meats, seafood, sauces, etc. Could easily spend a couple hundred bucks there every visit!
Variety of shops with unique products.
you can find about any type of flowering Or garden plant here. The vendors were all very helpful and knowledgeable of their plants. It’s always a pleasure to shop at Capitol market.
We stopped by on our way through. The Market reminded us of home and offered fun "window " shopping and tasty lunchtime treats. I even got a succulent to remind us of our trip!
Wonderful place to pick up some fresh fruit and veggies! And nice fresh cuts of meat. Big healthy plants too
Great vendors, and the eating options are all stellar! Best spot in Charleston to get some shopping and eating done. Excellent around the holidays as well with the extra vendors.
Always something interesting to see. Excellent food choices es also.
Huge selection of goods and WV products. Restaurants available.
We love this little market. There's not a ton of stuff, but it's all good. Plus all the veggies and flowers outside are well priced and delicious!
The Market has so much to choose from & I'm really glad I was able to return again! Hall's Greenhouse is definitely one of my favorites!!! 👍🏼👍🏼 …
Loved this place. Beautiful shops inside and out. A little bit of everything. Definitely worth the stop
Nice place to take pictures.
Lost of things you don't find anywhere else, every single business has something to offer.
Very nice place to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables, also meats, seafood, wine and fine candies. Everyone was wearing masks and keeping a safe distance from others.
We had cocktails and the salmon app and sat at the bar with Amanda. Food, drinks and service was great.
Indoor and outdoor vendors. Its a great place for fresh produce and so much more. It has a wine shop, chocolate shop, book shop, seafood, meat market, great restaurant, handicap accessibility, free parking, clean restrooms.
Great Place for Fresh Vegetables and Beautiful plants...And a Great Restaurant
Great place and has free wifi
Whether you are local or visiting - check out the Capitol Market. Something for everyone! Gifts, crafts, meat market, and yummy food choices in addition to the outdoor market. It's like the Charleston version of Tamarack (but smaller price tags)!
Cute place to walk around. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful 🙂 …
Great selection of shops.
A wonderful place to go in the evenings you have all types of shots I visit the fish market and the wine shop often. Johnny's Meat Market is also amazing
I really enjoyed my day there and the chance I has to share with my sister and niece.... We had lunch and I had the Best Rubin sandwich EVER... I really enjoyed our day... Thank you
No silver queen corn after advertised at Gritty. Said it depends if they pick that day.
Great, but if your budget is low than you may want to skip this place.
a tad pricey, but certainly a nice eclectic assortment of goods to browse through if you are looking to kill some time.
Great place to find different foods and snacks. Clean facilities.
Nice cashier but to slow
Very clean and nice, well-organized. A variety of shops and venues. I hope to get back there again soon.
Fantastic selection of flowers, fruits and vegetables!! Terrific help.
Nice afternoon at Soho's and the market. The WV shop, wine shop, purple onion and the farmer's market were enjoyable and we stocked up, especially on fresh vegetables and fruit.
Very nice atmosphere and decor. Huge selection of food and kitchen goods.
Very good variety of plants, decent parking in the shade!
Lots of gorgeous plants. Only went to the outside stalls.
Kind of pricey, but great product, people and service! I go there at least monthly to get the organic herbs and meats I need. Highly recommend.
Typical day...jammed pack...people buying plants and produce. My reason for going was the yellow watermelons...I got 2 plus a black one...my daughter got 2 yellow
I drive 2 hours to go to this market I absolutely love this place. They have specialty items that I can't find other places, not to mention the seafood and cheese shop...i could go on about this place all day defiantly worth the drive.
Eclectic and wonderful place to find all kinds of goodies. Love the produce, the wv market, seafood and wine selection. Never a bad experience.
The produce is top notch as well as all the other indoor canned, beer, wine, and more. I can't wait to be back for meat and more shopping.
Great selection of plants & the market has a large variety of products not found elsewhere in the local area. Also, a nice area for lunch!
The Charleston Farmer's Market offers a good selection of local produce, garden and tropical plants at this time of year.
The farmers are interesting and are almost always happy to talk about their farms and growing techniques.
Assortment of shops, locally grown fresh vegetables, fruits, as well plants and flowers for indoor or outdoor use. Chocolate / Candy Shop, Fresh Meats Shop, Fresh cheeses, and so much more. All locally owned and ran Vendors
Great place to go, especially if you are stopping through and maybe looking for something to eat. The woman at the visitors desk was wonderful and also very helpful during our short visit.
Love the greenhouse vendors. So many plants in one place.
Peaches and apples and tomatoes and all other veggies! I love this place ! Always buy Martinsburg peaches and apples. They are the best !!
Diverse, great attitude from the workers, and just a fresh experience overall. The capital market is simply a great place to shop for fresh foods at a decent price.
Love this market! Can't wait to come back often. Very open, lots of variety, very friendly vendors
Fresh corn on cob. Green tomatoes, exactly what I was looking for.
Always great to visit when in Charleston. Purple Onion costs a little more, but worth it. Can't beat Holl's for chocolates. Was a little disappointed by Soho's this time.
This is a cool little market place. I wandered around for about 2 hours. Time well spent.
Great matketplace with multiple vendors. Best beer and wine selection, sushi, and Holl's chocolate. Plus a butcher, Purple Onion grocery, and of course the farmer's market outside.
Always a beutiful place to get some amazing plants!!!
Great place to purchase fruit, vegetables, flowere and food items. Personnel are very helpful. One can find most anything needed.
Nice place for dining and picking up produce. Great selection of garden plants in the spring.
Really neat farmers market. The inside coffee and wine shops were also amazing. We found it by accident but would go again when traveling.
Love this place! The outside market in the summer is always full with some great local produce and the shops inside have great products too!
Love veggies..got tomatoes, squash, and cucumbers & onion to make my fav salad !!
It's a nice place to visit. Go if you haven't been. Good for tourists. Good for souviners. Good for lunch. Fresh and local made.
Great local fresh produce and Johnny's meat market, fresh seafood and top notch restaurants are some of the good reasons to visit.
The shops are great and the people are friendly. It’s kind of cramped, but that’s okay. The Market is great if you’re really into buying local, which we should all do more of.
Fun place to visit! Great produce and plants along with a market with a great restaurant!
Everything you want to buy in one place. Many unique items. Everyone is friendly helpful. I go there a lot.
Hate the location, but great place to find fresh food, home grown products, and other things you didn't know you needed.
I was there the cooking demo with Chef Paul, I never one. Today I won the $25 gift card from AARP. Thank you so very much, this made very happy.
Loved it. All vendors were nice and we got some good deals on plants that we were looking foe.
Simply put, this is the best place to buy unique food items in Charleston. If you want Amite, vegetable, pasta, or beer that you can't find anywhere else, you'll find it here. Recommended.
One can’t help but love our market. Voted one of the best small town farmers market for a reason. Great feel n vibe to the place.
Great place to shop for down home supplies. Cooking, spices of all kinds. Decorations. Flowers. Just your normal farmers market but with a little zing.
Always a great place. Find just about anything there. Fish Market has great fish
This is a fun place to shop. Great selection of interesting foods, veggies, etc.
Fresh food and gifts
Delicious food . Clean building and restrooms. Service was great. Special items for sale and to look at.
Very friendly vendors and beautiful flowers as well as great produce in the outside area.
The best place to get your meat is Jonny's Meat market you can't beat their meat!
1st time. Loved it. Such a variety of items. Very nice fresh produce.
Very nice experience. Most item in market were very expensive & thats a shame. Some of the products you sold were also sold at Big Lots &:a lot less expensive & more quantity. Sorry to say. A lady next to me was also saying to expensive. .
I love Capitol Market! Lovely local finds, yummy food options, and a great place to stop in for a gift! Not to mention the farmers market in the summer!
Produce was top quality and at good prices. The inside area offered a selection of various foods and dry goods.
Great place to get away from it all. Beautiful flowers great produce and ice people.
Our Washington and Lee Alumni Chapter wanted to have a Virginia Wine Tasting and Capitol Market's Tammy Borstnar, Ted Armbrecht of the Wine & Cheese Shop, and Lauren Ann King couldn't have made it a better experience for us. From booking the space to Ted's excellent selections and interesting commentary about the vineyards and wines, it was an A+ event. They even set up a delicious charcuterie plate to go with the tasting. Capitol Market is also such a special place with wonderful seasonal selections that supports local business and farmers. I would absolutely recommend, and we are lucky to have such a special place in Charleston.
Visited Johnny's meat market
Great place for vegies
We had fun. Great place for flowers & plants. Everyone was friendly.
As always fresh, delicious items. Stopped for burgers at Johnnie's Meats, so so good. 😋❤🍔 …

A great place to stop and visit anytime.
Great little coffee shop inside, as well as wine, chocolates, seafood, etc. And they now have WV peaches! Hurry ! While they last!
Mostly flowers/plants and vegetables. I wish they sell wide variety of fruits. The Soho restaurant is pretty good.
Had a huge selection of plants regular and some exotic produce and always fresh
WV finest. An excellent farmers market, top notch wine shop, great meat market, and Holls Chocolate! So many local farmers! A great place to visit every day!
Beautiful market and I love getting to support the local vendors!
Very nice market with a great selection of local goods. Most items are reasonably priced and the vendors are very friendly.
Nice quaint farmers market style place. Lots of food options that I want to try
I love the Capitol Market. There are so many things to find here and many reasons to go back. The seafood, the wine, the cheese, the fresh produce, etc.
Love shopping here. All the indoor and outdoor shops and vendors are super friendly and helpful. They will literally take the time to help you find exactly what you are looking for.
Nice selection of goodies including candy by the pound, seafood, sushi as week as beer and wine sections.
Best fish sandwich in town and so much more!!
Cool place. Lots of local goods. Great selection of plants and flowers.
Capital Market is great, we are there once a week in the summer getting our veggies. Pumpkins in the fall, Christmas trees. One stop shop.
There were a lot of open spots. The vendors that were there had some good plants for sale at good prices.
Lots of shops, plenty of thing to buy, and a fair bit of shoppers. I would recommend you give them a try.
while browsing coffee beans and menu at mea cuppa, was able to talk with the owner who was very nice, helpful, and informative. Along with a great cup of coffee.
Decent parking, an amazing variety of floral and fresh veggies. Great hospitality from the workers and the restaurant food from there is delicious also.
Good products, but not a lot of variety. Some shops are prohibitively expensive. It could be a lot better than it is.
Excellent food and craft beer selections inside, and awesome produce and/or flowers depending on the time of year. Highly recommended!
Very nice. A great attraction. Many unique vendors.
I love the outside vendors! They are always super friendly and have the most beautiful flowers!
Great place to shop with a lot of variety. The restaurant also serves up many delicious food choices.

A lot of flowers, plants, and products. It's nice just to walk a look at all the different items that are being offered at the Capitol Market.
One of my favorite places to go. All local. Coffee, food, fresh flowers, wine. Just amazing.
Always fresh produce and wv made items.
Great place to visit. WV products you can't find anywhere else. Produce prices are high.
Fun place to do a little shopping and stretch your legs a bit.
It was our first time here and it is a fun and great place to stop with the farm markets and wonderful food!
