Reviews of Jake's ONE Market
Brooke Grams
I love this grocery store so much! The perfect neighborhood market, mixed with organic grocery site, mixed in coffee shop and deli, mixed with liquor store!
Christopher Dieni
I would just like to take the time to specifically commend the young guys behind the deli meat/sandwich counter for their friendliness and professionalism -- especially as a newcomer to the Burlington area. I was looking for some mortadella -- which, believe it or not, I'm having an extremely difficult time finding in the area -- and these guys were happy to make suggestions and provide alternatives. One of them hopped on the slicer and cut me some fresh capocollo instead. Don't be perturbed by the fact that their meat display case appears empty, as they keep everything in the walk-in fridge.
Generally, this is a very friendly place with excellent customer service, and a strong sense of wanted to provide for their local community. There's some variety and selection -- not very much, but hey it's not a supermarket after all. I do wish that their fresh meat section was a bit more thoroughly stocked, in terms of abundance and variety, but I'm admittedly only just getting to know the place. I did find it a little bit pricey as other reviewers have pointed out, but that is the price of convenience rather than having to go long distances to big box stores.

Surprised their rating isn't higher. Its obviously not going to be as cheap as Walmart or Hannaford, but they offer an amazing selection in a clean, safe, moderately sized store. Employees were super nice. They even sell alcohol!

Produce was a little lacking but a wide selection of healthy foods for a small market. Great selection of beer and wine. All the local microbrews. Coffee corner is excellent but only serves part of the day.

This is such a valuable market to have in the ONE. I am impressed with the variety of quality products they offer in a small, clean, and welcoming space. I buy most of my groceries there and only occasionally supplement from other stores. I am so grateful that they've been here over the last year and I know a lot of folks in the ONE appreciate them.
Even if some items are priced higher than you can find elsewhere, I like supporting my neighbor and paying a bit extra to ensure they are successful and stay in the neighborhood. Smaller stores like this have higher expenses than larger stores so it makes sense. Jake's is right-sized for this neighborhood. It all ends up balancing out in the end since I'd have spent money on gas or lost time to bike to a store further away. Bonus is that I don't have to deal with traffic or larger crowds.
Shopping at Jake's is pleasurable, not stressful. Staff are friendly and helpful. They take the time to connect with each customer. I'd give 10 stars if I could.

For a recently established Market they really have just a little bit of everything you can find in one place for that i give them a plus, keep it up guys customer service is great.

I'm a local and this place is an amazing gift! It's a modern day general store with polite and friendly staff. Not a huge selection of things but surprising finds. Veggies, fruits, meats, canned/boxed, etc. Great location and reasonable hours.

I went to Jake's while visiting Burlington from out of town. This is a fantastic urban grocery store. The produce was fresh and reasonably priced, and they have a phenomenal local beer selection. Great local resource.

They do frequently run out of certain produce items, they rarely carry everything on my shopping list, and things are not always priced the cheapest (even compared to City Market CO-OP at times) but for convenience if you live in the ONE, it's great. The beer/cider selection is quite good, and I think the deli items are priced particularly well.

The quality of the produce is outstanding. The prices are competitive with city market. Although smaller in size, the variety of products is very good. Mostly, I want to complement the level of service. This market is in my neighborhood and I have always been extremely impressed with the staff.
Keep up the good work! Tammie

Great addition to the Old North End. More neighborhood options are always welcome. Some people have labeled it as expensive/gentrification, but everyone needs a place to get food, and they carry a range of options from high quality local and/or organic to value brands.

This boutique market offers a wide array of gourmet and local meats, cheeses, and other charcuterie items.
Prices are a bit high, but the quality of the meats and cheeses is unsurpassed. Enjoy some local products and support the farms!
This store is like having a local butcher next door,as well as a farmer's market specializing in cheese, all wrapped into one.
Highly recommend if you're looking for some unique flavors for appetizers or dinner.

Great little local market. I often shop there for items to finish off a meal I'm making that evening. They have an impressive selection for such a small space and I really appreciate the commitment to having both higher end products as well as more affordable options. As a final note the staff is always friendly and helpful exactly what you want in neighborhood market

Very friendly and helpful staff. I happen to be disabled and on disability, so shopping here tends to be a luxury. Top notch deli with Boar's Head, (which we all know has a minimum of quality which is more than enough for most). Unfortunstely they didn't have the Boar's Head pickles, which are a rare find anyways. Cheese was excellent. They also have a great selection of frozen tamales, the cheese and chorizo tamale is outstanding, especially with the cilantro and tomatillo salsa I had stashed. I would have liked to see some more green salsas available but that is incredibly nitpicky and they deserve every single one of these five stars. Thanks for everything, guys! -Josh S.

First time to go tonight and very impressed! Lots of great vegetable, fruit and pre-packaged food to go along with drink section. Friendly staff and look forward to trying Carrier Coffee soon!

Excellent addition to the neighborhood. Finally, an alternative to City Market! Better prices too. Would love a 9pm closing though.

Impressive variety of foods from the basics to more niche health-minded foods like vegan meat substitutes, beverages, ice cream, snacks. It has everything a grocery store would have and the prices were fair. This Old North End market is more than what you would expect from a small local market - I grew up in New England and you see these sorts of markets all around but this shop had something different about it and I appreciated walking down each isle and browsing the selection. If you need a snack or a few groceries and are nearby it's definitely worth checking out.
Linda
Great neighborhood grocery with a very good selection. A special shop for the neighborhood.
