My Golden Retriever just loves this store! She can play with and meet other doggy friends and dog parents. And the staff are soo friendly. My Yellow Lab Zoey just passed after living 16 years of a wonderful got her first visit at 8 weeks old to Care A Lot. She even went to Doggy Daycare while I went to work! She loved it! This store will always hold a special place in my heart. See you in doggy heaven my Zoey. 💘

It's a well rounded pet supply store. Plenty of choices although they were out of stock on what I needed, I'll be back. Update: the next time I was able to get both two trays of canned food and the brush I particularly wanted. The small one is effective and gentler.

Care-A-lot is one of my favorite pet stores, it is so big and has such a variety of foods and snacks and toys for pets. I probably go here once a week. The prices are great and the service is amazing. You can find anything that you need in here.

The workers are so knowledgeable about the dog food and supplements. They are always helpful when needed and super attentive. The bathing stations are always clean and the variety of natural dog treats and food is literally the best I’ve ever seen in a store. I rather come here any day than go to pet smart. The first time I went in seems like I couldn't get any help. Asked the lady about a certain shampoo said if they had it, it would be in a certain aisle. I told her I looked and didn't see any and asked do you know if the store carries it her response was I don't know if we did it would be there. I thought she could have been a little more friendly. I saw that they had a grooming area and asked the two young ladies in there if they knew or could recommend something else. They were awesome! The second time I went my experience was great. It's my first time having a puppy in over 45 years and didnt know if the harness I picked out would fit. The young lady said that's what I am here for and proceeded to assist me. She showed me how to properly make sure it wasn't to loose or tight on my puppy. She went above and beyond to assist and I really appreciated it. Did I mention she was training another person at the time. I am sure that the trainee learned real customer care/service just by the trainer compassion.

Went here to try their self service dog wash. You have to pay at the customer service desk first then someone will come assist you at the self service area. They have 3 tubs available. Area is a bit cramped especially if all tubs are occupied. It's the first self service wash we have used so I can't say how it compares to others in the area.

Good place to buy pet stuff. Prices are average to a little above average. My only gripe with this place is the checkout is very slow, mostly due to them asking everyone for their phone number at checkout. They really need a card system for their rewards program instead.

Great pet store. This pet store always has the items we need in stock for our Boomer. The self wash dog bath area is always clean and convenient to use. We use the diamond naturals skin and coat formula for Boomer... so far it's the only dog food that has regulated his digestive system and for a great price too!

I love that it's a local company and close to my new neighborhood. They have a wonderful selection and lots of Staff. My only complaint would be the several times I've been there, nobody was available to help me find some of the items I was looking for as I was unfamiliar with the store and also have a new pet with different needs. It wasn't until I got to the cash register each time, that the cashier asked if I found everything I needed and I say no not really and the reply is always well yeah we're out of a lot of stuff. Didn't seem to be out of a lot of stuff, just needed to be sent in the right direction, employees should be more attentive to customers.

I had a most pleasant experience today. The store did not have the desired puppy chow on the shelf I was looking for. I inquired about possibly having some in the back of the store and was directed to Derek who is responsible for ordering their dog food. Derek who acted very professional during are encounter worked very diligently to locate this Parina pro plan chow I was searching for. Long story short he came back and said there wasn’t any inside the store but he would gladly fetch some from the warehouse across the street. I declined and stated I don’t have time for this but he insisted it would only take several minutes. I agreed and we parted ways. Derek was back with the trays of dog chow before I knew it. It was almost like he did the one hundred yard dash and returned. This is a perfect example of superb Customer Service! He could have just as easy let me walk out the store dissatisfied but he did not! Derek took it upon himself, having great pride for his job and pleasing the customer to go out in the heat then carry back two trays of dog food that were not physically in the store. Thank you Derek for the lovely experience! You are more than worthy of a higher position than currently manned. As for Care-A-Lot corporate ... could we please have item# 96004 and 96014 added to your website? I specifically left Chewy.com NOT for cheaper prices but Care-A-Lot has specific items that other competitor may not. I am sure others would like to see these items available for online shopping as well. Thank you.

We Love Care-A-Lot Pet Supply, and We go to the Pet Extravaganza every year! Our American Staffordshire Pitbull "Buckus" Won the Tail Wagging Contest, and got 2nd place in the Ice Cream Eating Contest this year! We had a blast!

Very friendly staff, helpful even when under staffed. Use the self dog wash all the time, $15... they provide 7 kinds of shampoo and face wash, big and small towels, and a blow dryer. Not a fan of Always filling out a waiver form every time we go in, would be nice to have us on file or in their system. Still 5 stars. 22 Jan 23, still helpful, Jennifer went into the back to find more dog pads, team came together to get prices on unmarked items, good to see more staff.

I've been to the other places and none go out of their way to make you feel like you and your furry friend are treated like family the way Care a lot does.

I'm not from the area, but this place has definitely been a gem since I've moved here. It's recommended by some very knowledgeable vets in the area, because the name doesn't lie. Their entire inventory feels like it was selected by people who actually care about the well-being and happiness of animals and their humans. It's not the cheapest place in the world but the prices aren't outrageous and they have great sales (as well as reward programs.) They also have some really well kept facilities such as behavioral classes, self serve bathing stations and a doggy day care. If you're the kind of person who appreciates quality products and good service I'd definitely recommend coming here for anything you'd need for your animals.

Excellent doggy Care Facility. My dog was there about a week and she seemed very happy when I picked her up. The facility is very large and the dogs are not kept in crates most of the day like other facilities. My two-year-old poodle loves playing in their huge playroom.The staff people were very nice and they seem to be very knowledgeable and they also seem to enjoy taking care of dogs. Their groomers are also very good. But you must be very clear on exactly what cut you want so that you are not disappointed.

I visited for the first time. Showed up for the self service dog wash station. $15 is a very fare price. You pay first and give your receipt to an attendant at the wash station. They have you sign a waiver. Whatever… thanks to all the people who get lawsuit happy. They have a menu of shampoo for your dog you pick from and the give you. They also have a head wash that’s tear free for around the eyes. A nice blower that’s not heated to blow off the water and not burn your dog. They have towels that you can grab what you need. The only thing I don’t like is the step setup. It’s to narrow and my dog will not walk up or down. The area is a little narrow to have a ramp. So you have to lift your dog in and out if it’s timid to unfamiliar places. Overall it’s 5 star. They clean the area for you so you don’t have to clean up before washing your dog. I wish I would of had some cash to tip the employee working and cleaning the area. Next time I’ll bring s couple bucks to tip. That’s how clean it is.

They had a Santa for Christmas, and the whole staff was helpful, friendly, and understanding that I had a freaked out little puppy (she may have peed a little) but honestly, these guys are great year round. Anytime I come in there with Lexxi someone will take some special time with her. She thinks she deserves it but I know how much it means to take your time at work. These people are passionate about pets. We love shopping here.

I have been shopping here for the last several years and love this place. Their prices are comparable to others, even online vendors. The store is ALWAYS clean and organized. The staff is friendly and eager to help. My dogs know the smell of the store and always meet me at the front door looking for whatever treat I grabbed for them. It is a locally owned business so that is a big plus in my opinion.

Staff was friendly, i love the raw bar options and the prices on said items. They also have birthday themed dog toys which i love since my dog is named Birthday and the price was great. She loved the chicken foot we got at check out. It was her first time at a pet store and she loved it there. I also like that they have areas around the shop with supplies to clean up accidents not that she had one. I just like that i wouldnt have to go up to staff to ask for what i needed. The place was clean, items were easy to find, and everyone was friendly. I cant wait to take her here again. It was a treat for both of us.

I love this place! I can find everything my pup needs for a reasonable price and the selection is great. I don't being my dog to the groomer here anymore though. After the last time she came in she trembles at grooming. I can't be sure anything inappropriate happened - maybe she's just being dramatic because she doesn't want to have her nails clipped (she's a drama queen who's faked injuries all the way to the ER, so it wouldn't shock me). I don't have any evidence that anything happened and I'm sure even if it did it was by accident - these guys are good people! But just in case, it's worth mentioning because we all love our pups. Thankfully it's easy for me to groom her at home. For everything else though - food, toys, supplements, etc. etc. - I go to Care-A-Lot every time!

I took my dog to Noelle for his first grooming appointment here. Noelle worked literal magic! My little guy is older and can be very anxious and temperamental, but Noelle did such an amazing job with him. His haircut looks great and we will definitely be back to see her. My girlfriend and I have become a regulars here. They carry all the premium dog foods (Fromm, NutriSource, etc.) that you can't find anywhere else and at a decent price. Plus they have a huge inventory of toys and treats which gets our dogs so excited when we come in. I'm a big fan of their self service dog baths too, they give you everything you need to get your pup clean and smelling good! Love this place

I was going to pick something up from another big chain pet supply store until someone recommended this place to me since I'm new to the area. The store is beautiful. So much variety in their products and services! The customer service is absolutely outstanding... All in all, its a pet owners dream! I love that they have multiple locations here. I'm moving to the peninsula next month so I'll have access to one of their locations there.

Mrs. Kathy was great. I thought I followed all instructions given to me by workers when I bought a fish for my 3 year old daughter today. It died within an hour. Mrs. Kathy helped me figure out what was wrong with my fish. The water I put in it was too warm. Instead of outright saying my daughter's fish died right in front of her, she said she was the fish doctor and that our fish was sick and needed to get better so she would fix that one and give us a different one. I followed all of Mrs. Kathy's instructions and this new fish is happy and healthy! Thank you so much I will be coming back here. In addition to that this is a locally owned pet store. This is my first time ever writing a review, it was just that good here! Come here you wont regret it.

All of the workers at the doggie day care are absolutely WONDERFUL! Their love for our dogs is evident and they take such great care of them. One of our dogs is a rescue and has several health conditions and they’ve been nothing but helpful with him. Our other dog is a blue healer and he had hesitations at first about being around so many other dogs, but they worked with him diligently and he has really shown improvements! Would recommend Care-A-Lot to anyone! We especially love Sam!!

Decided to try the self dog bath and let me tell you, I’ll use it EVERY time my baby needs a bath! Soo easy, in and out! Tried to clean the drain a bit and she told me not to worry she would take care of it 😳 no clean up afterward? What?! I love going here with my baby. I use the grooming services along with the vet they have on standby. Sweetie is a hard girl to please and has a tendency to get nervous around other dogs. The staff make her feel safe and welcome. She has even stolen some of their hearts. My only complaint is that they are priced high on some items and services. However the level of care and attention here makes up for it. I highly recommend if you want quality care and peace of mind.

Was trying to purchase Super Worms for our Hedgehog. Called before and was told they did NOT carry those. While in the store with my Daughter, who was getting supplies for my Granddaughter's Fish Tank, I saw plastic containers labeled as "Super Worms", and politely asked a question about them from the young lady who was standing within feet of us, and had a vest and name tag, identifying her as a Care A Lot employee. She told me yes, she did have expertise in this particular area of Care-alot, but had no idea about the Super Worms, as they are sent to them pre-packed, and she and Care-alot had nothing to do with them. She rudely turned away, and began talking on her cell phone, ignoring my question about possibly getting someone else to help us. I have always been happy with the service and the caring employees at this Care-alot, and I completely understand that people can be going through a hard time, having a bad day. I know this past year has been filled with sorrow and grief for my Family, along with many others. We all get up in the morning, wondering how we can face the day with a positive attitude amidst all the worry, insecurity, tragedy. But one thing I know to be oh so true, is the way for all of us to get through this, is to band together, not alienate each other. You never know what the next person you have contact with during your day, may be going through, and it is in all our best interest, to lend an ear, reach out a hand, show some empathy, put a smile on another human's face that has not smiled in so long. The way through our fear and uncertainty is through our validation and support from our fellow humans, and isn't it crazy how that could all start with some Super Worm information, so I can feed my Hedgehog, who most definitely has been one of my most uplifting Quarantine buddies of all. Share Love not Hate Come Together not Apart.

Used the self wash station. It was better than advertised. Great water temp, abundant amount of shampoos, towels, air dryer and enough equipment to prevent from getting soaked. They have 3 bays and plenty of room for my son and I to wash our dog together. The tubs are also built at three different heights, which from what I can tell, would suit dogs of all sizes and they are very clean. Noelle provided us some great advice as well. Overall, great experience, well worth the money and easier than at the house. We will be back on a regular basis

Very good pet supply store that has top name brands, normal name brands, and Premier items. You can find the basics and the extremely hard to find here. They have some unique items that are superb for pets. I am aware that they offer grooming and other services but I typically only shop here for pet supplies. Service is relatively quick and prices are very good. They always have what you need or want.

I recently got into Tropical Fish keeping and the staff in the fish department are patient, eager to answer all my questions, and very knowledgeable. I was at Petsmart for a specific item that they happened to be out of- I heard about Care a lot from a coworker recently and I decided to try to find the product there. From the minute I walked in I felt welcome. The store associates were more than helpful, everyone I came into contact with was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I have not had a retail experience that positive in a long time. Not only did I find the item I was looking for, the same brand was $7.99 that was $18.99 at Petsmart! I gave my mom a call to let her know this is the new pet supply store of choice for my family and that she should also switch- she said she can’t wait to come try it out. I can not wait to come back! As a manager myself, I could not hope for employees as willing and customer service oriented as the people working in this store. I spoke to one of the representatives about a flea and tick product and was told they do not care it because they found out it can be harmful to the dog. Was pretty disappointed to walk in there the other day to see that they had completely eliminated there saltwater fish area. All they offer now or a random assortment of mostly freshwater tank items and a small wall of bettas. However, I understand that there are a lot of specialty fish stores in the area and it is probably better for business that they just focus more on are there pet needs. They said no returns due to Covid-19. I asked where is the sign that states the policy but they admitted they don't have any sign to let you know. Cat litter is quite expensive as is cat food here. Small animal items is what I usually purchase because they have a good variety and reasonable prices. I was told by an employee that they will price match. That employee and I looked up cat litter. A manager was called to help but then disappeared to help someone else. I told the employee I was taking a screen shot for when the manager returns. She didn't so I stepped out of line. Another manager asked if I needed help. I was then told by her that it couldn't be found on the internet. I felt embarrassed by several people looking at me holding up 2 different lines. I will stick to purchasing my small animals items and forget the cat department completely.

I love going to care alot! Always friendly staff and huge selection of premium dog and cat foods. They offer a free loyalty program where every 10 bags of food you get one free. They have great prices which most big box chain pet stores can't compete with, but offer price matching to keep customers loyal. They do not have small pets for sale but have freshwater and saltwater fish, plants, coral and sometimes turtles and amphibians. They have supplies including cages, crates, and tanks for fish, reptiles, small animals, birds, cats and dogs. They have a great selection of professional grade grooming supplies as well as an in house groomer and doggy daycare. Every weekend they have a low cost vet clinic that comes out and uses their space. Throughout the year they have events put on by them and their vendors- one I went to had doggy dock diving and the vendors passed out coupons and free samples, and they had local dog and cat adoption agencies present. I once had an issue with a price on dog food and (I can't remember his name) the manager who was an african American gentleman, helped me with no hassle and was obviously trained that the customer is always right and to help fix problems within his means. I am hooked- a regular customer who comes here for my aquarium and fish needs, dog and cockatiel products. Their fish dept even offers free water testing. Most interaction with their staff has left me feeling like they're well trained, smart/informed and if a question can't be immediately answered they'll find an answer. I was interested in ordering a specific type of fish and they were unsure at the time if it could be ordered and I was later contacted by phone to let me know, upon reordering. If they don't have something in store they will try their best to find it for you. Corporate office is local and their buyer can be contacted by management to try n help you. They have floor models to look at for cages and crates and tanks, and offer to put things together for you before leaving..... Someone in management or corporate is doing a good job here with training and standards of customer service.

I moved to VA beach about 18mos ago and discovered Care a lot driving by the Diamond Springs store. I've lived in several cities so am familiar with the big super pet stores. Whenever I could, I would support any available mom and pop store. Currently, I have 2 rescued Border Collies and a parrot. So far, Care a lot is my favorite pet store, ever. Just a couple of days ago I finally got a friend of mine who has a big dog and is a PetSmart customer, to come with me to "my" pet store. She loved the store and is no longer a PetSmart customer. In my opinion, this store specializes mostly in dogs and cats. The bird section is very small and I have noticed imperfect fish tanks. That being said, I visit the store at least twice/month and my local bird store, about once every 3 mos. For Care a lot to maintain what I consider fair pricing policies, they adjust inventory accordingly. So would any owner. If I want a huge store with everything from snails, to birds, to rabbits, to reptiles, etc etc etc, that's what the giant stores are for. I don't need nor want that. I prefer the size, service and location of Care a lot. I have also found their employees friendly and informed. Someone always welcomes me when I walk in the door. I've never had trouble finding someone if I needed help. I've even been escorted to what I was looking for as opposed to pointed to. For these and many other reasons, such as their 3 days, annual outdoor dog party (my word, not theirs), Care a Lot has a loyal customer in me.

Typically I love this place and have a great experience but Saturday there was a Husky and an owner who was clearly not training it nor had any idea how to control it. He was snapping at my dogs in the check out line and at every dog going by. The woman was at the register for 10 minutes. God knows what was going on because I was watching her dog more than she was apparently. He was getting my dogs worked up. I had all 3 of mine. One of mine, the older one who is getting a little short tempered with his age when prevoked was not having this husky. My husband walked out the store with our dogs to prevent any altercation. The employees were doing nothing for this dog, more concerned with ringing the woman up than her problematic dog. Another employee got at a cashiere and checked someone else out who had just walked up and then left again. I'd been waiting for a while now. An older man walked by with his golden retriever and the husky jumped on it and latched onto its neck fur. The woman then decided to pull her dog off that dog right before it slipped the collar and ran off. I just set the items I was going to buy down and walked out. I doubt that Care A Lot will be getting much more of my business.

We discovered this place after rescuing kittens on a Sunday, when the SPCA was closed. They have everything you could need for care, entertainment and food. The staff is nice, polite and very well learned on most animals and products. Not to mention they are about half the price of Petco, PetSmart and others. Our rescue puppy had his first professional grooming appointment here and they were absolute dolls about his anxious behaviour. His nails were trimmed perfectly, he's shiny and smooth, and they cleaned his ears without making him upset. Seriously coming back here for grooming all the time now.
