I'm thankful for a local company like this in sioux falls. I've been going there for two years now and they know me and my pet who I also had gotten from mini critters. Super professional, super friendly, and super reliable store. Ryan runs the store superbly and I love the doggy daycare for my puppy!

Update: I had a situation in which my crickets died from a hot vehicle and a 40 min drive home...(whoops) and they were extremely respectful and helpful of how to prevent this situation from happening again. Best pet store!! Favorite stop for pet needs!! Great source for crickets for reptiles. We just bought a veiled Chameleon and she's the greatest addition to our family. We have 2 geckos, a beardie, 1 hamster[also purchased from Mini Critters], and 3 cats. One recommendation: have education available for employees on how to handle the reptiles they have in shop. Chameleons hate it when you try and grab them from the top to remove them from their branch. The guy did this and it makes them grab on more and stresses them out, plus you can fracture their ribs too. The whole ride home she wanted to be in my hands. Every day she wants to come out of her cage after eating. I hope someone will be able to enjoy the other Chameleon that was there. They need frequent misting in cage to drink, and feeding daily.

I have yet to stop by Mini Critters, but I just had a nice experience on the phone when I called to ask some questions about their guinea pigs. The young man I spoke to was happy to answer my questions, some of which were more specific than others. One of my guinea pigs passed away earlier this week, so his friendliness was very welcome and comforting. I am looking forward to stopping by the Mini Critters locations tomorrow!

Great local pet shop with plenty of variety. Fish, reptiles, small mammals etc. Many brands of pet food available. Aquarium/lizard tanks, substrate, dishes and anything you could think of to outfit a reptile habitat. Neat shop, we will be back.

I have been taking my dogs to Mini-Critters for grooming ever since their first time. They are shih-poos with one being more curly than the other. Even with routine grooming, matted hair is inevitable for these two! Rather than shaving the matted hair, they are able to comb through it and make it softer than ever! Because I live out of town, I use the day to run my errands and am able to leave my dogs at the groomers as long as I need to without feeling guilty and with no extra charge. From answering the phone to make the appointment to picking up my babies, everyone is kind and professional! And while I’m there I can pick up my dog food and treats. As a matter of fact, I just picked up my bag of free dog food for being part of their dog food club/rewards program!

My mom has a dog that is very nervous around new people. The guys totally understood and accommodated us so we could give that stinky German shepherd a bath. I wish I didn't have the dog with us because there was all kinds of small animals. Quiet a variety compared to other pet places here in sioux falls.

What happened to all the saltwater fish? Was a couple tangs and nothing else. I asked up front and they said they have no idea if it was normal or not I would need to speak with the manager for fish but wasn't sure when he was working again. Disappointed in the service and selection. Mark was who I dealt with years ago and it was always thriving in the back. Looked pretty bad.

My granddaughter stopped in to check out the puppies. She called to let us know they had what we've been looking for a black and white shih tsu. We went and held the puppies and then played with the them in the play area. Ultimately walked out with a new puppy. We had been there awhile back but didn't have they ones that were supposed to come in.

They've got some awesome fish in stock in their new tank room set up. So many great options for your small to nano species. Chilli Rasbora, super cute dwarf Corridorah, blue gularis (I think) Killi fish, and a hole bunch of great looking tetras... and more but I only really looked that little guys. Everything seemed really healthy and the fish I got are going strong after a few days. Recommend if your looking to get some less common but still super well priced freshwater species.

They had lots of different products and animals, but their fish aren't maintained very well. Tanks full of algae, and dead fish rotting everywhere. The fish were organized by species very well though! Nothing was out of ratio for schools, and nothing was together that are aggressive. Their animals on the other hand were well taken care of!

I go here about once a week or twice, i love their Diy dog wash as i always give my dog a bath once a week the place a amazing the products they sell are of quality the stuff is very knowledgable and very friendly and i would recomend this to anyone

We've gotten two puppies from here, both times we were given the name and location of the breeder, and both puppies have been perfect! Not a single health issue whatsoever after 8 years. Ryan has also treated us very well, he has gone above and beyond to help me out more than once when I had a family emergency. Great place!

Hands down, BEST place to get a fish. Eric, the biologist, is amazing! We bought a betta last year he took all steps necessary to make sure we properly cared for him. Fish Finally Passed 13 months later. We went right back to Mini Critters to get a new fish. Helped us choose a glow fish this time & educated us on how to care for it. So far so good! Thank you!!

The staff here is well informed. If one employee doesn't have the answer another one is more than happy to help. Large variety of fish and small animals. Only two issues, I would recommend a larger space dedicated to reptiles and I would like a larger variety of enclosures. They can pretty much order anything though so neither of those issues are too big in my opinion.

Absolutely loved the "clean" door - no mention of COVID whatsoever! ❤ Staff was very friendly and kind. However, a handful of Betta fish were dead on the shelf, most others seemed fairly inactive. Staff answered all questions regarding Betta fish care, but after doing more research seemed to leave a lot of important information out.

I get my Siberian Husky groomed there by La Shawn and she does a wonderful job. My husky hates a bath and she is very patient. Atiya looks beautiful after her grooming and has a lot of cost to blow and brush out. All the staff are helpful and friendly.

Nice little pet/pet supply store. I use the self washing station for my lab. My only complaint is that the provided shampoo is pretty watered down so it's tough to get a good wash, even when I used the whole bottle. Next time I'll bring my own.

Top of the line local pet shop. It has puppies and a variety of other animals as well as various fish (salt and fresh) as well as corals. They also offer boarding and grooming. On top of all that they offer supplies for all of those animals, like fish tanks, anything you'd need for them, dog beds, dog food, cat food, bowls, medicine, etc. Always a nice experience especially if you're looking to support smaller local businesses.

It a great little pet store with boarding and dog training. They are one of the few , if not the only place in Sioux Falls, to offer salt water fish. They also sell pure-bred and designer hybrid puppies from breeders on a limited basis. Staff are friendly and professional. The place is clean and maintained.

I am from out of town. We came to town for the day to do some shopping, and I left my 7 week old puppy there. I was very nervous as she is really young. However, I was very pleased with the whole experience. The staff were very nice and friendly and you could tell they just loved the animals. They played with my puppy while we shopped and she slept the whole ride back to town. I recommend this place to anyone needing a doggy daycare. I will definitely be using them again!

Great store and locally owned! They have a mass variety of helpful services including pets, pet hotel and grooming, doggy daycare, and obedience classes. Mini critters also has employees with expert knowledge over pet food and proper nutrition. You also find a rare courtesy at this store which is how the employees always are more than willing to help you carry your stuff to the car! Mini Critters is locally owned by a family who has a passion for animals. Definitely will be returning!!

I've heard good and bad but only experienced good! Since going through new management, I have seen the reptiles being cared for much better, fish tanks not overstocked and a very small amount of puppies for sale. I don't like the fact that they support puppy mills but I do like everything else about the store, including the service that I receive. Service is prompt. good prices of frozed feed for my snake and have purchased healthy fish. I'll continue to go back.

Very smart, young, and willing staff. I was down right amazed to see the knowledge a teenage staff could have. Yes they still have their older leaders to guide them on the right path. But it was made obvious this staff of young teens was trained right. From fish tank help, all the way to feeding the right food for my dog. Ahh yes the place that charges you out the wa zoo for animals they don't check the site for. 2000 Dollars for a beagle when local homegrown breeders that you can actually visit charge 1/4 of that.

I wouldn't recommend buying a ''pet'' their when I first got my rabbit there they didn't really tell me anything and just said he was healthy but they didn't know was that the rabbit was bad bred and had teeth problems aka they wouldn't stop growing after 2 weeks I gave him a lot of toys, so I took him to the vet and they told me I had to come every month there to 'cut' his teeth to a shorter length and spending about $80 per month, so I would be careful and see their behavior before actually buying one.

Very happy with the Doggy Daycare services offered at Mini Critters. The staff if always very friendly and they really make an effort to get to know each and every pet. I love that I receive a report card daily on how my dogs day went -- really makes it a personal experience. And for the price? You can't beat it. Two thumbs up.

Mini-critters is a great place. I just recently had to let go of my rats (that I got at the store almost a year ago) due to some complications with my living situation but they took them in no problems and assured me they would be sold as pets to persuade people from feeding them to snakes. I also got my cockatiel from them and the service was great! I love my bird and she is hand tame and wont truly bite.

I have been a customer of Mini Critters for years. Yes I go to the other pet stores from time to time to see what they have and to check out there prices. I always come back to Mini Critters. Sometimes I have questions about my fish and when I know more than the person working in the fish department I have a problem with that. The "fish guy/people" at Mini Critters always know the answer to my questions and have been a great help. Having a fish aquarium is a very expensive hobby and I know what info I'm told is right. The store it's self is kind of cramped but it had everything you need as a pet owner...

Great locally owned store! They carry a variety of product including bird, guinea pig, rabbit, hamster, rat, fish, dog, cat and reptile supply. They have plenty of unique merchandise like pet ice cream, NFL merchandise, and cute boots and sweaters! Mini critters also has employees with expert knowledge over pet food and proper nutrition to keep your pets healthy. Another unique cork is how the employees always are more than willing to help you carry your stuff to the car! Mini Critters is owned by a family who has a passion for animals. Definitely worth your time going and checking out the variety of animals! It's like a free petting zoo!

We have boarded our parrot twice with MC now and both times we have been happy with what we pay for, no incidents. the birds are boarded in a back room where the boarding cats are also kept, which is fine because we have cats at home as well. when picking up our bird his cage had been cleaned, and his food container level had dropped so obviously they were feeding him. the staff said that our bird would sit on their shoulder while they cleaned his cage, and they talked to him when ever in the room. so far i have no complaints. $8 a day isn't a bad price either. and we used his own cage so he would feel more comfortable.

The people. We have been coming here probably 25-30 years. Many critters - dogs, cats, birds, fish, and lizards, rats & rabbits when the kids were young. Much of that time has been with Ryan. He has shared much info and we have had spirited discussions over the years. Now that I am older he helps keep me on track with how we want to care for our babies. 17 1/2 year old Chico, 10 year old Zelda and now in heaven Mina kitty (lived 13 years) came from here. Several others help us, Eric with fish, Jasmine and more who I can’t keep the names straight. If there have been any bumps they make them right. One of the biggest things, when we had to re-home our birds due to hubby’s serious health, they were there to help.

I found both of my Boston Terriers at this location. They are happy, healthy, and a great addition to the family. The staff were knowledgable about the different breeds and made it easy to purchase the puppies. I was glad to see that the dogs get played with and the kennels were regularly cleaned. Mini-Critters also offered dog training classes which I took advantage of with the first dog. It made a huge difference. I didn't have time with second puppy and I regret it. I'd recommend this place for a puppy to my friends and family.

To Tell The Truth

The staff has always gone above and beyond for my fur pets and my feathered pet. I had an African Grey. She became ill I live in a small town the vet here made my bird sicker. I was able to call Mini Critters and talk to Ginger, she gave me the name of a vet, but it was too late and I lost my bird. When we adopted a dog, she was scratching all the the time we went in to buy spray to make her stop the staff suggested a corn allergy they were right. We changed from a "top lable" to California Natural our dog never scratched her self raw again. Yes they have had bad staff but what buisness hasn't. But if you go to someone and complain about a bad staff member they listen, MiniCritters cares about Pets, Unlike big box stores. I refuse to shop at the big box stores like Pet smart.

They have bought live coral, rock and wood from customers that do not want their saltwater tanks anymore. I don't think they actually will buy used tanks though. I had a great experience today with the young girl that helped me choose a freshwater fish she was very educated in the vast varieties of all the animals and products in the store. :) The last time I was in there I did see that they were feeding their bearded dragon lettuce which I have been told is extremely unhealthy? But I personally do not own one my sister does.
