One of my favorite stores! A BIG selection (especially compared to Michael's or JoAnn's.) They're staff is always super friendly! Not only do they have great art supplies but they have many novelty items, which are so cute and great for gifts. My daughter and I currently take pottery classes from the Studio attached and we absolutely love them! The teacher (Sarah) is amazing, all the people we've met are so nice, and it's so close!

I came to get the supplies needed for my course. Unfortunately, the premade kits had all been purchased, but an employee was very kind and spent fifteen minutes helping me collect all of the supplies around the store. When I found I didn't have enough cash on me and had to run out to my car--near tears--the employee apologized profusely for a mistake on my class syllabus (not the employee's fault whatsoever) and held the items behind the counter until I came back. Overall, wonderful staff and great products, if a bit pricey. (Good quality = a fair penny)

I think I started something by walking into the store because they had an amazing variety of art supplies. I specifically went in for some 400 lb watercolor paper. It was expensive but I expected that for 400 lb 22x30 paper. The staff was friendly and engaged in conversation with me. I was asking about permanent pain that would do well with watercolor and they went out of their way to help me find a good pen And by the way the pen has worked out perfect Attached is the photo of the watercolor I did.

Very good store, with helpful staff. They happened to be out of all 3 things I went for (well, 1 was a case where they carried several types/brands, but mine was only available online). I found several unusual or new things to play with, like a new kind of oil painting sticks. They had trial packs, plus gave free samples, at checkout. Only a cross-secyion of brands in each area, but a good selection. Worth supporting one of the few remaining storefronts that will do that.

The only places to get art supplies in my town is Wal-Mart and Joann's which is a bummer. I have ordered from here online as well the catalog so getting to see this place was a real treat. It offers so much more than just art supplies but they are also display the artwork of the community and make it an experience as well teach artwork to anyone. The lady was a new cashier but it didn't stop her from smiling and enjoying the customers. If I lived in Salt Lake City, I would visit here more often as well take a class or two. Thank you for the experience!!

Really cute small but mighty store with all the art supplies you can ever want. They usually have good deals; when I went I got buy one get one paper pads. Parking is a bit hard in this area, but we got lucky and found a spot right next to the store on the street. I didn't get much, but I know blick is reliable whenever I need some specific art supplies. 🎨🖌️👩‍🎨

The people working there are amazing. I learned a new piece of the puzzle involved with oil painting and in a nice way. I feel like Christmas morning walking around the store. Better than toys r us. It's small but their stuff is cool. I could spend all day there. They have some nontraditional art supplies a bit too. I found a pen from the uk so I can do portrait pen art with colors.

Wow, this place is amazing! So many awesome art supplies, and well organized. The staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely get the loyalty card! It saved me more than $40 on my $200 purchase.

Great selection and variety. They are slightly more expensive than the other options but, from my experience, the quality and choices are better here. Great area to park and walk around the neighborhood as well. Only a 4 star because they do tend to be a little pricier than others.

Overall, I would recommend this store for both beginner and more advanced artists. Great selection, excellent service, and better than competitors. I have only been here twice but my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The store has a great selection for various forms of art. You can find beginner materials for great value, as well as high grade materials for the more professional artists. The store itself is a bit cluttered, but that adds to the experience and there are usually many people there to help you out. The best part by far is the customer service. I went in to buy a few oil painting supplies. They signed me up for a membership, gave me a student discount, and were very friendly throughout the process.

The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I went there seeking a gift or two for each of my daughters. The lady who helped me was super friendly, helping me get a basic set of paint markers and color pencils and a large gift certificate for the daughter that already has everything. They seem to have nearly anything you can think of in art supplies.

This art store is the best! I could spend a fortune here. They have so much and I'm always finding something new everytime I go in. It's a little cramped, especially when it's busy, and they usually only have a couple people working at the counter, but the employees are friendly and helpful. I love coming here!

Went in for some fast cast resin and it was the only craft store around that had it. Fun store with a big emphasis on paint and drawing and canvas but they also had stickers, resin molds and clay (Sculpey Clay, etc).

I had always heard of blick but had never been in. I finally made the hour drive here and I was so impressed! The store is small but they have everything you could need for most art mediums. Be sure to sign up for their (free) value club, it saved me $8 just on my first visit.

I have a slight addiction to architect pens and calligraphy pens and Blick Art Materials has an amazing selection of both... That aside for the small space they occupy in this building, not an inch is gone to waste. This place is floor to ceiling covered with art supplies paper anything you might need related making baking or creating art and it's many forms. Check them out! You won't be disappointed

If you are in need of art supplies, come here. Their selection is massive, the store is well laid out, their inventory is always in stock, and the customer service is quite good. Prices can be a little more expensive than other stores, like Michaels or Hobby Lobby, but you're supporting local businesses which is obviously a better choice, plus the people here actually care about your art and want you to be confident in your supplies. I had to do a return for a product that did not function the way I had needed, and they were very accommodating, even though I did not meet their return policy standards. I will be shopping here for all my art supplies.

The BEST art supply store in all of Utah! It's small, but has soooo many fun, tempting art supplies at great deals! Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Even though the employee wasn't too familiar with Dr. Ph Martin's, I tried out her suggestions and still had fantastic results! Wish I remembered her name. They also have art classes upstairs, which is awesome too. For the more illustrative artists out there, this is the place for you!

Such a cute little store! I'd never been there before but it's so amazing. They have loads of quality products and a very friendly and helpful staff. Bought watercolor, book binding, and Sculpy supplies on this trip. The prices are fantastic, much cheaper than Michael's or Joanns from my experience.

My older son and I enjoy coming to this art supply store because of the friendly customer service. The store isn't that big so it makes it easy to get around. . Probably the most challenging part are the prices but all of the items are very good quality. They truly do carry the best art supplies. The parking is a little bit challenging as well, where you have to park in the back or on the west side across an alley. It's not that challenging to deal with but makes it a little bit unique to access the store.

Can't get my crocheting supplies there, but that's not exactly a negative so I can't really say there are any about this place

I came in with a friend she needed some art supplies and I was dumbfounded by everything that they had the staff was incredibly knowledgeable answering all the questions she needed and knew where everything was. I'm personally not an artist but I was so shocked at everything that was there. this is not your average craft store this has everything you need if you want to become an artist or are already a professional artist and need supplies they literally have everything. my friend told me that this is one of the only, if not the only store in the Salt Lake area that has everything an artist needs. They have lessons and showcase local artists work. I mean this place was just incredible with everything that they have. I highly recommend that if you have any artistic needs to come here. I don't have the artist hands, mine are too shaky however with how much information that I overheard them telling other people as well as my friend I know that anyone could come here and learn how to be a better artist, myself included. I just love how friendly the staff were how much stuff there was. There is lot in this little store, the isles are small and tall there's so much stuff the prices were very reasonable my friend bought a lot and barely paid anything. it's just incredible what this store has to offer. If you have any artistic needs I highly recommend coming to this place.

It's small and a bit cramped, but it is by far the best art store I've been to. Wonderful selection and very friendly employees. They are always willing to help with finding something or providing an opinion about tools for a project. Having a Utrecht card makes a big difference as well! It's also a fun place to visit, and they have good sales. Much better variety than what you would find at Michael's or Walmart.

I found the air clay products which I was looking for, fixated my eyes on products which I will definitely will be returning for and the prices are SUPER reasonable! Great place for students to buy art supplies like pencils, mounting boards, paint, etc. The staff are nice and they also have art classes held on their second floor (Never took one). Their art supplies are a little pricey doe. Overall a good place to buy school supplies if you don't mind spending a little more.

Way, way, too crowded. It's almost impossible to find anything. The aisles are so narrow and everything stacked upon each other. But it's fun to go and look through everything they have. As long as you don't have to pass somebody in the aisle. Mostly you all have to back up and step aside. They need a new location.

I'd never been to this shop before, and I came rushing in the other morning like a whirlwind right as they opened, trying to snag some clear sleeves for prints I was selling that day. The staff were helpful, friendly, and found me exactly what I needed! The girl who helped me at the register suggested that I sign up for their free rewards card, since it might save me some money by giving me the online price for the sleeves rather than the in-store price--it turned out to be a HUGE discount and I was really grateful she suggested it. Blick is definitely my new go-to art supply store--thanks for being great!

I love art supply stores, and even if this place is partially out of the way it is worth the trip. You will find what you were looking for. Despite the store not being very big they were neatly packed with stuff for all kinds of art projects using all kinds of materials. The prices were also more often than not better than other prices on the internet. Which means you can get what you want for cheaper plus no shipping! I love this store!

I wish they had more locations since driving to and in salt lake is not fun, but once inside the shop I feel like I’m in heaven. Practically everything you need for all your artistic endeavors. Everything’s pretty well organized in an overflowing kind of way, but if you do need to talk to a staff member to find something they’re always very helpful and friendly! I used to get my stuff at nearby craft stores but blick’s is a 100% better because tbh cutesy home decor stuff makes me a little sick, so blicks is the good stuff about craft stores without the bad stuff! Worth the drive to avoid seeing another ‘live love laugh’ sign. A word of caution: this place uses the same sorcery that target does but worse. You will leave with more than you planned, but don’t worry you definitely needed another copic marker because the exact same one you already have may get lost, you never know!!!!

The staff is very friendly, and the prices are always very low, especially compared to other local art supplies stores. While it is a small store, it is still packed with variety. It's good for just about any art project you can think of. This is also the best place to go school shopping for the surrounding colleges (U of U, Westminster, SLCC), and around back-to-school season, they contact teachers and ask what supplies are required for certain classes, and compile kits for them to make it easier. This is the candy store for artists. They have a great selection on various mediums, brands and areas of interest. Nicely organized and labeled to help you find what you need, and if you can't, someone is happy to offer assistance. The only downside (if you can call it that), is parking. If you aren't too familiar with, or know your way around downtown, it gets confusing knowing where you can park without worrying about a ticket. It's worth the drive and "parking issues", and you'll find it difficult to leave empty handed. Highly recommend.

This is where I go for just about any art product that I need or, since I'm in college still, anything my professors want me to get for their classes. Blick is SOOO much better than michaels so if you have the option to order or go to the store I highly recommend. The prices are less than michaels on everything and about half on some. The parking is a little hard to find as the lot behind them doesn't say anything but on their back door it says that you will be towed for parking there. Kinda confusing but we weren't towed so that was good. Great store if you want to have lots of options as to the brand, quality and colors of your art supplies

nice atmosphere, helpful and knowledgeable employees. most other customers don't mind a bit of a chat. the building retains heat well so it gets a bit stuffy in the summer. the place is packed a bit tight so I probably wouldn't want to go in a wheelchair if I could help it. they seem to currently be having issues with new stock shipment not coming in so they were out of the exact item I wanted.

My only complaint is that the aisles are extremely tiny and it makes it really difficult to get what you need when there is a lot of people in the store. Other than that I really love this store.

This is pretty much the only art supply store in town, but for the most part their prices are pretty reasonable. The staff is helpful and available too. It's the only place I know to buy things like silkscreen supplies and block printing materials off the shelf, and it's worth paying a slight premium to have a brick and mortar option for when I've procraftinated. Be aware they're closed on Sundays, though.

The Sugarhouse Blick is a really pleasant, down to earth place. They have so many great products and options and the staff is friendly and well trained in the artistic mediums they sell. Parking is odd but that just makes you stay a few minutes longer. They've been able to answer my most obscure questions without missing a beat every time.

Absolutely no ADA people parking! Unless I wanted my car towed I had to park and walk from a block away. That's difficult for someone who can't!!! In regards to Blick/Peterson parking, nothing was directionally marked, no arrows, no signaeg, no nothing! Come to find, parking is on 10th East! Parking there, was a nightmare! I ended up denting my bumper on the foot high retaining wall. Next, the lighting in the building, especially in the pencil/colored pencil/pastels section was so inadequate I almost went blind! I couldn't tell or see what color, description of, or number it was. I wonder how much would it cost to rearrange and light the place properly. How much would it cost to buy some parking places for ADA access? And, I don't know, at the very least have better signaeg so peoole don't dent a bumper or get towed!!! I'd bet it'd cost very little in comparison to the cash they're taking in! Get it together Blick!!! I would've bought more if I hadn't felt so claustrophobic, could've seen and located what I wanted to purchase without asking, and had a place to park!!!

My favorite art supply store in town. They carry all kinds materials and supplies, regardless you are a pro, an armature or a casual painter. They simply have everything. The assistants are all friendly. The store matches online price. And become a member, you will get member discount on various items. Love the store. P.S. Parking at the front is a pain in the butt, but there are plenty parking at the back of the store.

TL;DR: This is my favorite art store in every way. Fun, helpful, good selection. Long version: I've been learning watercolor for a few years and last year I was ready to start upgrading my student-grade materials to something nicer. I stumbled upon Blick Art by accident and have not gone anywhere else since. 1. Their prices are great. They also have bulk discounts and teacher discounts. And they run good sales throughout the year on different things so you can stock up on stuff over time. 2. The staff are the best. I'm just a hobbyist artist so while I'm not clueless about everything, I still don't know like 90% of what there is to know. I often feel intimidated in specialty stores -- whether it's just my own self-consciousness or because of how employees act -- who knows. But I've NEVER had that experience at Blick. The staff are so friendly and they will offer help without any judgement. They also give you their honest opinions about materials; I've never worried that they are just upselling me on anything. Whenever I visit I tell the person my skill level, the kinds of projects I'm working on or materials I'm looking into, and my price range and they guide me through the process of how to choose the best thing based on the criteria. 3. The selection is huge. Especially because a lot of the higher-end suppliers have limited web presence / you can't buy at Amazon, you can find so much stuff here. I've also learned about a lot of supplies/methods I'd haven't heard of before so I actually go here about once a week just to browse and take a look at all the fun things. 4. So this might be a small thing (also influenced by the fact that I'm not an artist, just a rookie) but I have been so frustrated by the emphasis on "crafts" at arts and crafts stores. I'm always disappointed with I go somewhere like Michael's and not only are their prices so high, but their selection is so limited. But the emphasis at Blick is on art supplies. Like I said, that might be surprising to no one except me, but I'm still calling it out :).

On this particular trip I needed materials that I had no experience using before and was unsure if I was getting the right things. The staff member I spoke to was amazing. Nice store, but really lacking in pottery supplies. I'd love if they could get some 25 or 50 lb boxes of clay in stock and maybe even some casting slip and glaze. I'm looking for an alternative to online ordering because shipping on clay is a nightmare. I was looking for some clay and wheel throwing tools and accessories but all I left with was a little sponge.

Lots of variety in a small spot,walking in just gives you the inspiration to do something! Recently I decided to pick up linoleum stamp making kit. Very worth the price! Also the staff is helpful, they were able to give me answers about some of the markers and paints.

Usually they have what you need, lots of basics for fine art. Definitely better than a hobby store in terms of selection and prices. However, I would NOT shop here if there were another art supply store in Salt Lake. Ever since their competitor went out of business, Blick has really gone down in quality.

Parking sucks, but that's not their fault (the whole Sugarhouse area is terrible for parking). If you can't get one of the two parallel spots out front, Just park in the Gold's Gym lot behind the building, they don't care.

I love this place. They have a great selection of professional level supplies and materials for anything you'd want to create. Not sure if they still offer art education, but in the past, they had a nice space upstairs where they offered instruction on a number of different mediums and techniques. Blick is a welcome alternative to the more craft-oriented chains like Michael's or Joann Fabrics. If you need high-quality Bristol board, specific drawing pencils, conte crayons, high-end acrylics or Pantene markers, they've got it all. I love the space as well; a two-story storefront in the heart of SugarHouse.

Just go there. Seriously! If you're an artist they'll have what you need and if you don't consider yourself an artist, go as well because you will be inspired. And don't be afraid to ask questions from the staff. My experience has always been that they are enthusiastic, cheerful, extremely helpful and well-versed in most areas of art. They all seem to really love their job. Don't forget to sign up for the Blicks price match. They search their own websites for discounts and will match it if they find one that their store hadn't advertised. It's actually saved me quite a bit of money over the years. I love Blicks and they are a Sugarhouse Institution. Also, park in the back. It has ample parking and it's free and easily accessible from the West side or through the Natural Grocer lot to the east.

This place packs a lot of merch in a small setting! My son loves his art class upstairs and there's also pottery classes! There's parking just west around the corner next to a pink sign for an ice cream shop. Be careful of the lot marked for the grocery store, you could get towed!

All the Utrecht brand stuff is cheaper and just as good as the name brand stuff.

I got a great deal on a 12 pack canvas set, and some really cool woodless, graphite pencils.

My favorite place for all your arting needs. Here you will find most anything for traditional 2D art, (drawing, painting, screenprints) and some 3D (small sculpture/ sculpey) they do not have pottery or jewlery supplies, and are not a crafting store so you wont find scrapbooking supplies. They offer a varaiety of classes up stairs. They tend to be a bit pricey lime most art suppliers and the parking is terrible and too far away! Otherwise you will find many items that a traditional craft store wont carry.

This is really the only serious art store in Salt Lake County, parking sucks, isles are tight but there is a lot of gear for most specialties. I order most things online now, better selection Since the BLICK take-over the availability of some in-store products changed, and of course only can carry a fraction of what is available online. There is some conflict between online pricing and in-store pricing (i.e. Derwent XL charcoal was $30+ bucks in store but only $20 online) and utrecht vs blick.
