Ordered the Mini Backpack in Pebbled Leather Pretty excited to use this bag. Pros: - Leather feels and smells nice. - Neatly packaged and bag is stuffed to maintain shape - Good size for a casual day backpack. Cons: - After purchasing, learned about how they got rid of their Portland manufacturing to offshore to Mexico. - Hardware is not great. Zipper feels cheap, like plastic and not a premium quality zipper. - Return policy does not look great. They make buyer pay return shipping. - External shipping packaging labels what the item is on the outside as shown in pictures.

Honestly, well everything was beautiful and there was lots of variety, It was mildly overwhelming. I was hoping they would have special items, but they only had items in special colors and the prices are a little bit better here than online. I was hoping they might have a C grade section or a clearance, but they did not remove overall very cute but really just a larger version of the store over on 23rd.

Amazing selection, unbelievable prices in this outlet location in SE Portland, beautiful modern contemporary space, great for gifts too. I want to give them 5 stars for all that, but the customer service on Friday afternoon last week - no greeting, no eye contact, no goodbye while the store is not busy...... if you can handle that unwelcoming atmosphere, you will find your goods. I ordered the cross shoulder bags from Portland Leather Goods for the first time, thinking that they would arrive in time be my travel. Nevertheless, I came home and saw the box of the shipment. Opening the box and smelling the authentic leather smell made it worth waiting. The craftsmanship, the details and the quality all are what I called a well made brand. I can’t give a 5 star just yet because I only have it for couple weeks and used it twice. Hope it lasts at-least 5 years then I’ll give it a 5 stars for Durability. Love the zippers smooth as butter. Although used the laptop backpack today for the first time I immediately saw a scratch. ( it seems to be easily scratched) Though I try to be careful. I’ll prob update this review after a year or so of use of what it looks like. It’s leather so it should last more than that. Love the smell and the colors I chose.

AMAZING!!!! I have been looking for a purse like this for over 2 years. Saw an Instagram add & clicked on it, so glad I did!! This purse & bag is better than I thought it would be & I really expected a lot. It surprised me with a loop inside to hang my keys on, great addition to an already great product!! I had great customer service, fast shipping, then to see it & smell it... fabulous!!! The quality in the leather and construction is evident in the final product, will definitely be purchasing from Portland Leather Goods again. I know this will last for years to come & I look forward to seeing it weather with time.

I purchased mini cross body etc. online from this company recently. Got the bags with some scratches on them. I think they sent me their" almost perfect" bags which means the products with some defects on them with the lower prices. But I paid the premium prices not the Almost Perfect prices. I contacted the Customer Service and sent photos. But nobody response to me. Update: The customer service responded and explained. I accepted an offer. We will see. Update again, The customer service and I reached a deal and it worked out well. Thanks. BTW, other than the issue above, I like the Portland Leather bags. They are soft with nice designs. I like them better than those expensive bags.

The large bucket bag I found online last week has to be the sweetest sale deal I've scored this season. At full price this bag is still inexpensive given the premium quality leather and fine Mexican leather work. This feels like a genuine well crafted, hand made leather good. I conditioned it with some buffalo butter after arrived and it's beautiful. The leather used for this bag, feels like it was tanned expertly lending a sense of luxury and superior quality. The simplicity of the design and the choice of colors add to its desirability. I love the sangria color and I am glad I got that one. All the positive reviews for this company are well warranted. Definitely a business worth supporting. Thanks for the bag!

This bag holds quite a lot with room to spare! The leather is so soft & luxurious. I can't believe I got this from the almost perfect page. It's perfect to me! I will be back to get more!

Gorgeous leather bags and journals! I visited the shop in person and was greeted immediately by puppies! Lovely shop and display of all the leather goods with amazing natural lighting! (I really like brightly lit areas.) I did eventually purchase a zippered tote & tassel from the online shop. (Medium, zippered, inner & outer pockets in Honey leather + dark straps, Grizzly tassel) Beautiful items, no regrets!

Everytime I noticed someone's bag recently they told me it was PLG, so I had to have my own. Last year i got a wallet for christmas and its held up beautifullly, top quality leather and craftsmanship. This year I purchased a mini tote and some smalls...i peeked when they arrived and they are magnificent. I've sent them to santa to wrap for me ;) but i'm going to the outlet today to buy presents for others because i want to see the colors in person! I'm done with designer bags as they are clearly inferior to PLG. So excited for Christmas and my tote!

So, I took a HUGE chance on a first-time purchase and bought the mystery tote. Wow! I got the oversized tote which I would not have purchased, and I am so happy with it! I love my new bag, it just arrived and its better than expected! I have been looking at these bags online for years. I had a hard time deciding what size to get as I like to try them on and see how they fit. Then two days ago I saw someone with one in the grocery store. I immediately struck up a conversation with the owner who had gotten it for Christmas (its July now). It looked perfect. She mentioned that her friend had purchased an "Almost Perfect" bag and they couldn't figure out the "Almost" about it. I jumped online while waiting for my groceries to be rung up and placed my order for a crossbody tote, in black. It arrived in two days as I'm just North of Portland. This is the best bag ever!!! The size is ideal, its huge but the shape of it makes it feel and hang like a small bag. You won't be knocking things off shelves with your bag when you shop but it still fits my laptop and all the contents of my purse! I think I have room for a water bottle too! I highly recommend this company and this bag!

What a great, quality handbag! Soft, supple leather…you can smell the quality the moment you open the box. Lightweight, extremely easy to open and close and when cinched it stays closed. I bought the large bucket bag in color Dune - goes with everything. Perfect size as it’s not too large or small. Even and straight stitching. Strap is very long but has many holes to shorten and has strap loop to hold excess in place. iPhone 11 fits easily in internal pocket. No dust bag but I had a spare that fits it perfectly. Got during 25% off during current summer sale going on.

Love my XL tote in Nutmeg with dark handles. I ordered a "nearly perfect" bag with zipper and pocket. I agonized for months about this purchase and now that it arrived I turned around and ordered again from the company the mystery box as the quality was so good! The leather is so unique on my bag. I think that is what makes it "nearly perfect", but I like it even better as no one will have a bag like mine! Switched bags as soon as it arrived. Ordered off Etsy for 1st order. The bags absolutely beautiful… I shopped from the “almost perfect” sale I was definitely skeptical purchasing something that’s described as “almost prefect” but thanks to all the good reviews I went with it and I’m happy I did! I have however seen a couple reviews on their website of people saying they’re so happy they’re made in the US and sorry to rain on your parade but they’re made in MEXICO.. it says right on the tag inside the bag. That is awesome in my opinion because their work ethic is amazing and you can tell from the quality of their work.

I’m not usually one to go out of my way to leave Google reviews, but this company and their products no doubt deserve these few extra minutes. I’ve been in the market for a nice leather bag and good ol’ instagram worked their sneaky magic and I saw an ad for Portland Leather Goods. I figured I’d take a look and do my usual Add to Cart rampage, see the total and exit out of the page immediately. But then I saw an “Almost Perfect” tab where they had just about all their products listed for an insanely discounted price because of minor errors that they noticed and didn’t want to sell for full price - we love transparency and good communication. And let me tell you, if Portland Leather does anything wrong, it’s using the wrong adverbs. I ordered SEVEN things and I’ve been searching all over for these “errors” and I can’t figure out where the hell they are. I absolutely love everything I purchased and I will definitely be going back in the future for more things that I don’t need. Thank you Portland Leather!

I love love love my Natural Character, Cinnamon, Leather Tote (medium-size, deluxe)! It arrived on time, just as described, and was packed securely. Also, I could tell that it was packaged with care. This is obviously a handmade item... the hardware, stitching/folding, etc are very precise, and say “quality” at first glance. It’s just plain gorgeous! Part of the description is: “With full-grain leather, the unique texture and natural imperfections from the cow’s life have not been removed from the hide. This means your tote may have some small scars and imperfections. I'm so pleased with this bag. I actually purchased this bag during the "Almost Perfect" sale. OMG it's beautiful and came with only a couple minor and I do mean really minor blemishes (Can hardly be seen at all). The Large Tote Can hold EVERYTHING that I carry and smells divine! I own three bags from Portland Leather Goods and a wallet. The quality is just unlike anything else out there. I have a couple of purses from Coach and one from Cartier and can honestly say I prefer the ones from Portland Leather. The others may look nice on a shelf, but they don't hold up to daily use. Incredibly, my tote and purses from Portland Leather look BETTER with use. It's like they're magic. The designs are classic, the lines are beautiful and I LOVE their products. I LOVE my Portland Leather bag (medium size tote with outside pocket in grizzly with dark brown handle). I've been carrying it nearly every day for 6 months and could not be happier with the quality and how it has gently broken in. You can tell they put a lot of thought into their design, making it the perfect everyday bag - simple, functional and timeless. My Microsoft surface laptop fits nicely, along with a ton of other stuff. One thing I love is that my bag stands up on it's own, which is nice that I can just plop it down and it doesn't fall over and dump out. The construction of this bag is gorgeous, sturdy and very high quality - I'm honestly pretty rough on my things and this bag is proving to be very durable. It has turned out to be EXACTLY what I was looking for! (No more carrying around random tote bags full of my things)

I just received my Almost Perfect Honey Triangle Bag yesterday, and it is absolutely beautiful! Even though it's from the Almost Perfect line, it looks absolutely perfect to me. I recently bought the "Almost Perfect" Butterfly Bucket Bag in color Grizzly and I couldn't be happier. I. LOVE. THIS. BAG. It is a very unique design. The butterfly design occurs because of two short leather straps on the sides on the inside. Attached to these are a hook and an eye. Connect these 2 and it creates the butterfly design on top. Unique. I've used this bag everyday since I received it. It will have a long life of use with me.

I purchased the “Almost Perfect” classic zippered tote large size in the Merlot color! There is absolutely nothing wrong with the bag and I inspected it from top to bottom. I struggled with what color to get and kept trying to look at people’s reviews. I wanted a deep red/maroon color and Merlot was perfect! The leather smells amazing and the craftsmanship is exceptional! I highly recommend this company amd shipping was super fast. It only took 4 business days from placing my order online to when it arrived on my doorstep! I took several pictures but don’t know how to add them here.

Portland Leather Goods is the ABSOLUTE best!! I purchased a mini tote about a year ago and a couple of weeks ago one of the rivets came undone and the strap had broken. Purchased the 'Almost Perfect' Crossbody Tote - Cognac and 'Almost Perfect' Leather Rancher Wallet - Cognac. Absolutely gorgeous!! I did notice why the bag was almost perfect, there were two little scratches one on the top front and one on the top back but they are smaller than a dime. I want this bag to develop some character so this is no issue for me. The wallet had a little ripple effect but again, it's leather. I am 100% overjoyed at the quality of these products. The color is perfection and the smell intoxicating. If you're on the fence, just do it! You won't regret it!

Love, love, LOVE Portland Leather!!! I bought the medium classic tote in Cognac with dark handles, and the only problem with it was that I loved it so much I had to return it for a large! Customer service was excellent and shipping was fast. Both the bags I got were “almost perfect”, but I couldn’t find a flaw with either one. The leather is GORGEOUS, and I’m picky. In love with this Portland Leather Goods! My items shipped quickly and are great quality. I normally stick with brown leather, but their pictures looked like the leather is nicely dyed so I ordered the tote in green, and I am not disappointed. Yowza!!! I ordered Portland Leather Goods’ Triangle Bag in black and a card case in merlot. Both were offered as “Almost Perfect,” but for the life of me I can’t find any imperfections in either one. I love the bag — the size is just right, the handle drop is perfect and it’s roomier than I expected. It’s a 5 star+ in my book. Same for the card case. The merlot color is lucious. I’m already trying to decide which bag to order next!

Great products. Poor communication for returns etc... to get a return going you have to email them. They are not timely at all in returning emails. The return system is outdated they need to have something on the website where the consumer can go in and start a return. Customers should not have to wait for an email back to approve a return. Its disappointing as they have nice products but a very big hassle to communicate with them. Not worth buying from them because of this.

Ordered the small festival bag. I thought it was going to be small and it is but it holds my wallet, my brush, my glasses, extra pads, makeup, phone and a bunch of keys no problem. The gusset is only about two inches but everything fits. It has a small pocket at the top so my keys don't fall to the bottom. The strap is plenty long to easily throw over my head even when I wear a hat. And yet it's small enough to throw into my large bags where extra clothes and gear like lap tops, over night essentials etc. It just slides in on the side, easy to reach. I love this bag. I love my big bag too but this one was a real surprise. Oh, and it isn't heavy! That's why I was looking for a smaller bag. I had tried other canvas bags but they just didn't hold up. This little bag has been treated rough, rained on, dog walked all over it, thrown on the floor with my boots etc. And looks terrific. I've been abusing it for a year and it looks new. Really! Thank you for such a great product. Will buy some Christmas gifts this year. So everyone can enjoy.

The first was a year and a half ago, a Large regular Saddle tote. My daughter thought the bag was so gorgeous, she was afraid to use it at first. Now it's her daily purse. When she opened the meticulously packaged box, I instantly wanted one for myself. I ordered mine recently, a Large character Cinnamon tote. Again, carefully packaged. Almost two years later, same quality leather, construction and consideration in shipping. I messaged to request a later ship date because I was out of town and Portland Leather graciously responded right away and delayed shipping. I am considering a third bag in the oversized. The tote is masterfully made, you know that only experts worked on it. The size (large) is perfect! It provides enough space for all my things and then more. I have included a picture so you can see it’s proportions. It is very comfortable in your shoulders and the leather is so soft!! I decided to buy the deluxe packet, substituting the outside pocket with a monogram and the end product is gorgeous! This is a great product and the company is a great company to work with. I recently ordered the xl Messenger Bag to use as a briefcase for my laptop and folders when I travel. It is beautiful and the leather smells amazing!!! No doubt I will be using this bag until I retire (24 yrs from now!) I was unsure what the leather color was going to look like and the Canyon color I received was more of a chocolate brown which was what I was hoping for. I was looking for a leather bag and was happy to discover Portland Leather Goods. The warehouse is open to the public M-F 10am-5pm. They have various leather products including, wallets, journals, & passport covers. The staff, including the owner, were very friendly and helpful. Everything looked so amazing I ended up leaving with two bags and a couple of journals! It was fun to see how the products were made. What makes this company unique is they not only offer ready made products, but also customized pieces you can order, creating a personalized item you can cherish for years to come. Portland Leather Goods defines why you should buy local. Head up the stairs and to the left in a pretty unassuming warehouse, you'll find the awesome workshop. I could have picked out a piece that was already made, but custom was a very cool experience. They let me pick out the leather, custom stamping, and customize the name. While I watched my item being made, I got to see new products they were working on, and learn more about the high quality leather they use. Turns out it's the same leather as my favorite pair of boots! I plan to go back for an iPhone case and maybe a bag, the quality is pretty unreal and the people who work at Portland Leather make a very positive experience.

If you’re in Portland or visiting and love quality products, friendly people, and DOGS, this workshop is the place to go. According to their website they’ll start giving workshop tours in March and I was sad to have missed that on my trip, but this does not deter from walking in and chatting with the lovely folks in the shop. It felt more like my college art class (in a good way!!) with stations of people clustered together chatting and doing their wonderful craftsmanship. If you purchase a bag here, some are discounted! I was given an oversize zipper tote in Coldbrew. I will use it as my teacher bag. It is big enough (and sturdy enough) for my laptop, books, folders with handouts and student essays, wallet, pencil bag, phone, sunglasses, and a cardigan sweater or scarf. I ordered mine February 7th 2018. It's a small tote with a zipper. I'm so glad to have something that's made in the USA, of great quality leather... I use it all the time. The negative review about scratches is unfortunate. The leather is not plastic and so from a real cow who lived a real life and will show any little imperfections. My tote has a few small scratches from over a month of daily use, but I love the way something looks when it's obviously used, like an antique.

I got the Cognac class bag with the outside pocket, and overall I like the bag. However, there is a 1" scratch on the outside pocket that stands out. Also, the bag I received seems to have uneven wrinkles to only portions of the bag (i.e. only one corner/side of my bag is affected). This "wrinkly" portion of the bag definitely feels weaker and looks different than the portion of the bag that has the smoother surface/clean looking leather. Is this expected/normal condition? I think the current reviews on your website are not correct and need to be updated, otherwise it can cause further confusion to future customers. —————— Thanks for reaching out about this! I have had coach and louis vuitton straps peel on me, and for louis vuitton at $700 that is unacceptable. Head up the stairs to the second level of a large brick warehouse, open the door to Portland Leather Goods and prepare to be amazed. My girlfriend and I discovered this gem online while we were eating breakfast down the road at Bob's Red Mill. She was looking for a new leather purse and there were three places we were going to look. We stopped at Portland Leather Goods first. Before you get to far into this review, this place was so impressive we didn't even bother with the other two places. As soon as we opened the door to Portland Leather Goods we were treated like family. Everyone was super nice and was as if we were old friends. At the time we were there they were finishing a revamping of their space, which looked awsome. They had a selection of goods to choose from, as well as the ability to make a custom order. Different size purses, wallets, passport covers and journal covers were on hand and were just some of the offerings. The owner was there and took us around the shop, explaining each station. Everything is done right there, completely by hand. Different types of thick quality leather are used, offering customers variety. There are no internal walls in the shop and you can watch every process being done, all by hand, very impressive. Even the work stations are cool with their reclaimed wood benches and simple heavy duty machinery. My girlfriend found a purse she liked, which she purchased. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are top notch. Heavy duty stitching and double thick leather on the riveted joints for reinforcement are just an example. These items are built to last and will age with grace. High quality items at very reasonable prices. We will definitely be back to visit this gem when we are back in town.
