This is a well stocked petco that we got our ferret from. No problem with her at all. But the worker that helped us seemed irritated that we were asking questions. But I also went to the fish department and the worker there seemed alot more patient and seemed to know his stuff. So it seems hit or miss

Chi in the fish department was so helpful. We are starting our first freshwater tank and I’ve been overwhelmed by all of the information I’ve found online. Chi answered all of my questions (there were many). Their tanks look clean and the fish look happy and well cared for.

The service I received was great. I am currently traveling out of state with the dog. My wife usually gets the dog food, so I'm less familiar with where things are and what to get her. So, being able to select the products on-line and then pick them up in the store was *super* easy. And, when I arrived, the sales clerk was very friendly, very helpful, and also worked to make sure that I knew that I was getting the right supplies for my dog. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Your store had a very wide veriety of items for all kinds of pets and I loved the aquarium section I was very impressed by it! I haven't found a place that actually sells reef life so that was very exciting as well as alot of other products. I loved the selection of crystal cat litter and the fact you had 30 lb bags of it. The bird selection was also a good mixture of items. I was very pleased with the reptile section as well. I was very happy and I will be back.

Kids like to come here . They currently have cats up for adoption, though they are owned by Animal refuge league in Westbrook. Can't take them out to pet unless an employee of the League comes to meet you They are all So sweet! They need good homes ! Come say hi to them !

We purchased fish tank items and visited the fish while we were there. The guy working the fish tanks was very knowledgeable. And the women who helped us get our order was friendly and check outlined moved fast. Store seemed clean. Only problem was the number of live plants and fish we could not purchase was almost bigger than the ones we could purchase.

Employees are incredibly helpful, respectful and courteous! Times are tough for everyone and they are understanding and do everything he could to make sure my little fluffy friend can be not only survive, but thrive. they let me know there were no crickets, but they helped navigate me to some prepacked crickets (which the live population was about only 10% of what the package said; apparently there is a shipping issue) I was willing to pay the full price since it isn't your fault that the world is crazy, but they gave me a great discount! I highly recommend Petco to others because they clearly care about pets and make sure their employees do as well. Thank you Petco!

The store was neat and presentable. I was quickly greeted upon entering the store. I found the small animal area easily, they had a great selection in accessories and small pets. The cages were very clean and all the animals looked healthy and active. The associate that helped me was kind and knowledgeable. He helped me in the selection of a hamster for my child. It is so hard to find good quality (healthy) tropical fish in retail stores. Although I was disappointed at the selection of frozen food the fish are always healthy with a good selection, and everyone working is always helpful and friendly. If the store was closer I'd be in much more often.

In these crazy times, it's incredible that individuals are willing to go out of their way to help with the shopping experience. We have a child with a chronic illness and were considering trying to make pet food so we didn't have to go into the store. However Petco store attendant, Colleen suggested ways I could purchase certain items without going into the store and was waiting at the door when I showed up. I went in to get a big bag of dry cat food and was kindly pointed to a better, cheaper brand that would fill them all up and keep them happier longer than the brand I'd been using before. I was doubtful as the bag was smaller than what I'd been using, not that bigger is better, but it was what I'd always used. I've been on the new one for about a month and all 5 of our cats really like it. We get both wet and dry and the dry is lasting longer with no complaints.

From the clerks that advise you over the phone so graciously, professionally, and kindly (I know there are others, but Colleen and Jess are the two sweet ones in my yesterday's experiece and Edin today)about whatever questions you have (no matter how dumb!). Very helpful. Have a cat that has thrown up with every food we have tried. Went in last week and the gentleman was very helpful and spent probably half an hour with us trying to think of different foods to try. In the end tried a couple of them and 1 worked. Went back tonight to get more and he stopped what he was doing to see if any of them helped with actual care for our pet as though it was his own. Definitely going back.

I would shop here for almost anything, the toys are great, large amount of natural food options is awesome for healthy pets, tons of treats, thick metal tags that last long. I use the 10$ self wash for my dogs, i just wish the blow dryers were stronger. The store is always clean and they have a great staff, when the large food size was out of stock they went ahead and price matched the smalled ones price per pound for me, not to mention they send out coupons often. The only thing I don't buy there is collars, they have hardly any martingale style and the fabric is cheap. Some items can be overpriced compared to other stores but its worth it if you're getting multiple items. I have had bad experiences in the far past with petcare and have heard things about grooming, but they seem to have improved everything recently.

Everyone was helpful and amazing. We unfortunately lost one of the Guinea pigs we bought due to respiratory infection but we were able to get the other to the vet and on medication. Petco paid the vet bill and replaced the piggy we lost with no hassle.

Hard to find someone to ask a question of. Didn't want to stay in the store long and had trouble finding what I needed. usually there are many very helpful and useful people about. I realize why they were not there but it does impact the store. Person at check out was nice and chatty.

She was very knowledgable about all of the different kinds of cat foods, and specifically which ones were high in fiber. She recommended two different kinds of cat food that contained pumpkin in them and said they would help my cat's digestive issues. I bought the two kinds of food she suggested and my cat was immediately feeling better! :)

We went here a few days ago to get our first hamster. We didn't know a thing about it so we had to ask an employee for help. He was very helpful and patient. He even helped us with all of the stuff we needed for the hamster. And when it came to getting the hamster out of the cage he was very gentle with it. Overall we enjoyed the time.

I called looking for a baby triceratops for my nephew. Unfortunately they did not have one, BUT, the very helpful guy made a suggestion of a Jackson Chameleon. He informed me that this baby monster had three horns on its head just like a triceratops! and it can climb, its like a little climbing triceratops! SHOUT OUT to Petco! 10/10 would dino-shop here again.

I love buying supplies here for my crazy dog! They are conveniently located, have decent prices, and are very knowledgeable. Their grooming services are great as well, just make sure you call ahead for an appointment because they are always busy!

Sure I've had the occasional employee at this store that gave less than excellent customer service but this isn't the only one and it isn't so uncommon in any establishment nowadays. Nobody is perfect and it's not always so easy to not show a difficult day to customers when you're on the register side and yet it's so easy to pick those apart that do when you're the customer and I've been on both sides of that argument. We're all human. The products that I've purchased here have thus far been excellent or have been returned hassle-free. I love their coupon program for customers who adopt shelter pets.

I love Pet Co! The rewards Pals program is great, the customer service is always fantastic and the sales are great. I use the refillable cat litter and it's a really great deal for the quality of litter. Tons of options for food, toys and seeing the animals there is always fun. Pet Co is super amazing they have a wonderful selection of pets for everyone and anyone they range from beautiful fish 🐟 both fresh water and salt water as well as , unique reptiles and amphibians, are beautiful feathered friends, cute and cuddle ferrets, bunny's, Ginny pigs, and hold in your hand cute ,and, curious mice,hamsters,gerbils, and rats,and last but not least hermit crabs 😊 the store carries all supplies and accessories and food both live and frozen if needed they carry high quality products and there staff is very knowledgeable about the animals and their needs the staff are both very friendly and helpful very easy to talk to and ask questions I like how they will come up to me and ask if I need any help with anything, and to pet Co thank you so very much for all your help and wonderful selection of fish and accessories you guys are amazing forever a customer 😀

$30 bucks for two small things of half dead Dubai roaches. Had to buy them because I had no other option in town. I find out from wife that they are supposed to be half price after they add food to the roach motel. Lesson here... let wife buy roaches. Nice people at the store. I think it was an honest mistake. But a little more variety would be nice.

I have shopping at the Petco in South Portland for more than a year. The staff there has been very helpful answering my questions such as the best dog toys for my pet and various other questions on harnesses, leashes, and food for both my cat and dog. In addition, I appreciciate the policy of allowing customers to return items up to 90 days after purchasing. In their clearance section, I have picked up some great deals and also bought extra items using Petco reward dollars. My dog and I have participated in both puppy and adult dog classes at the South Portland store. The dog trainers have been very helpful and friendly and the classes are small enough to get some individual attention as well as the group training. They even have a free puppy play time that allowed my pup to learn to get along with other dogs.The staff has even held a particular cat food for me when it was shipped to the store so I would not make a wasted trip by driving over and finding it already sold out.

Get followed around the store and talked to like im in gucci. Super wierd and uncomfortable. Good variety of pet supplys and free samples of high end dog food. Not a very big variety of dog toys, just specific brands. Not my first choice to stop at.

The selection of pets is nice. They seem to keep moving and rearranging the store, so takes a little bit to get bearings. The prices are ok on some things they could be cheaper but they are the lower costing pet store in the area. Always come here for specific pet needs.

Like any pet store food is pricey. Always have a hard time finding decent priced food for my dog that is allergic to chicken. Always paying over fifty for one bag. If lucky I can get one just under fifty... but not very often.

Kaitlyn in the grooming Salon is always amazing with our dog Bella and makes it a pleasant experience even though Bella doesnt always enjoy being wet. :)

They help you to anything you're looking for and they have lots of toys, accessories and, of course, pets to choose from. We went to a puppy training class and our puppy is soooooo much better than when we first started the class! Definitely recommend going if you have a puppy. Also definitely recommend going if you want a toy or an accessory for your pet!

This location is in need of some serious TLC. As soon as we walked in, my daughter commented that it was dirty and smelled like dirty dogs. She wanted to leave right away. I should have listened because it seems they have issues with inventory. It was picked over.

Meh, be well knowledged about what you are going in for, especially if it's for anything reptilian. They push sales on some items that are definitely not needed. Also remember to price match with everything on their website and they will match that price, we saved close to $30 on a $165 total.

Not too bad, thier customer service is good but they are a bit lacking as I feel most pet stores, not all, are in the sense that they take care of thier animals and reptiles by the so called book which in real life sometimes can be unrealistic, and even lead to unhealthy pets, which is why keep the warranty and because thier so by the book, thier info they give can be wrong unless you really find as worker in one of these bubble gum factory pet stores, that actually owns and has pets will you really get the easy common sense way of taking care of any animal. If it sounds complicated it's probably untrue. In all this stores is not bad the people are fun and friendly and 9 times out of ten your get yourself a cool pet.

I go in there frequently to buy frozen food for snakes and I am always amazed at how poorly kept their ball pythons are. Very low humidity, improper hides and keeping more than 1 snake in a habitat at the same time. These are all conditions that could lead to serious health problems and even death in a short amount of time for these snakes!
