Great store!!! They have pretty much anything you can ask for related to Arts and crafts!!! Stuff for young children to experienced professional artists!!! And everything in between!!! I was stocking up on wax used for sealing 💌 letters!!! The staff were very nice and very helpful. I had lots of questions and they answered them and didn't make me feel like I was being a bother.

Coming to Artist & Craftsman Supply is like being a kid in a candy shop. There is a wide selection to choose from. I have taken artwork here to be framed, bought gifts, brainstormed ideas while at the shop, bought random supplies for specific projects, and bought an extensive set of silk dyes. I love this store!

Awesome! Rarely do I get to the area (Portland) but OMG! Where I live there is only hobby lobby or joann's for artist to choose from so artist & craftsman supply is such a welcome choice! It is great! So many choices and really really decent prices. I got some new tubes of watercolor, some great paper and my first Princeton brush! So happy right now! Thanks A&C supply.

So you haven't been here yet?! Why!??? It's the best store ever, with the best real artists supplies in Maine. Period. Their paper selection is absolutely to die for. Awesome ready-made frames, or custom framing available. And paints and pencils in every color and type. But, one of the little known extra special things about this store, is that they have the best gifts ever for creative people! If you're looking for kids or adults presents, you will absolutely find something here. And beautiful, beautiful handcrafted paper bags to put the presents in!! There's parking out back so don't be intimidated by the parking situation out front! There's a whole lot out back to park in. Just drive around past Big Sky bakery. But make sure you stop in for a cookie after, and give them some love too, because Big Sky rocks, too! Boom! Two reviews for the price of one!

I spend at least an hour wandering through this store every month or two. I always find fun craft projects and the prices are decent. Great place for paint, brushes, and canvases.

I love this local art supply company. It's my go to for all my art supplies. They have a great variety of paints, frames,paper,pens and pencils. They have an awesome section right when you walk in the store of knick knacks (that make great gifts). My go to art supplier, it's very easy to spend more than you planned here as they have a very wide selection. Staff are knowledgeable and more than willing to help out and be a sounding board for projects/new materials. Just recently went to a new medium and they helped point me in a couple different directions, explaining what I could expect with the medium, and different thing I could do with it. Super happy with them I have no problem going back whenever new inspiration hits, or just to pick up some replacement pieces. If your in the Portland area, this is a go to shop to visit for art supplies.

First time in, I absolutely love it here! Takes a few minutes to get your bearings as the layout of the building is kind of funky. Was very impressed with the selection. My favorite art store ever. The staff is SO friendly, extensively knowledgeable and so un-intimidating to beginners in any medium. The prices/deals are wonderful and the store is packed to the brim with not only pretty much any art supply you can think of, but great gift-able items and cool trinkets too. They put bundles together for art classes and give great student discounts—just an example of one of the many aspects of the store that makes their support for any type of artist practically palpable from the moment you walk in. A type of place you can happily spend hours in, I really don’t go to any other store for my supplies.

This is my all-time favorite art store! It has everything I'm looking for whenever I need it. From spray paint to screen printing to just basic drawing utensils they have it. They even have fun stuff that is creative for kids. They have student grade they have professional artist grade. If you're a painter they have Paints, canvases, wood blocks. They even do framing. Anytime I need paper I go immediately there. They even offer a student discount! They also have New Deals and sales running all the time for certain brands or materials. The staff is always very friendly and knows exactly what you might. You can be talking about a certain project or what you're hoping for from an art supply and they'll be able to find it and explain what it is to you. I need a good art supply fix I always go to artists and Craftsman.

And the store itself is huge with an enormous variety of top end to affordable art supplies. Once you check this place out you'll never go to Michaels again!

This place is amazing! It has high quality items and so many things to get! There's a wide variety of things from painting easels to paper mache animals you can paint! The process are a little high, but they have never ceased to amaze me by hope well they work. I highly recommend going here next time you're in need of art supplies or just need something to do!

Very good. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. If memory serves me, this is the 3rd location that Artist & Craftsman Supply has had. I began shopping with them back in the 80's and I have typically found whatever it was that I was looking for. Could the prices be lower? Of course they could be. I checked out the Copic Markers and the set they have is $300.⁰⁰ while the same set on Amazon is $145.⁰⁰. I understand that they need to make a profit, but sheesh! I still go there anyway, but I have to admit that those big items just aren't in my price range. Honestly, even the $145.⁰⁰ isn't in my price range. They are markers. That's all. To everyone reading this I do recommend Artist & Craftsman Supply. The staff deserve all the support we have to give.

PSA: give yourself ample time to spend in this store. I foolishly thought I'd pop in on the way to the airport to catch a flight, grab a couple of items, and have plenty of time to make my flight. This is a big store with a lot of merchandise, and I didn't have time to explore it as thoroughly as I wanted. However, I'm giving it five stars because it's laid out well, has good prices, amazing selections of supplies, and the staff was great. I was particularly happy with the variety of open stock colored pencils and watercolor pencils. The next time I'm in Portland, I'm going to take an entire afternoon here.

I've walked into Artist & Craftsman several times now with no other purpose than thinking "I just need to do something new". On one occasion in particular, I was suddenly inspired to work with watercolor. Having come from a world of graphite and acrylics (never watercolors), I had no idea what I was looking for. To my surprise, the employee went out of his way to help me - giving me the scoop on how I could make out the best as a beginner as far as price was concerned. Not only that, but they MUST have the largest supply in all of Portland - the store is huge! If you're an established artist or just dabbling in arts & crafts, they'll have what you need!
