This location is a study in contrasts. It has a good selection of items (at least in women's apparel) but is severely understaffed. There was no one monitoring the fitting room (at least the one that was open, not closed behind a badly propped up piece of plywood). The fitting rooms themselves were full of rejected clothing (I could barely find room to hang the two pieces I wanted to try on) yet to be returned to racks and shelves. The cashiers were friendly, but again, several checkout areas were un or understaffed.

The staff at the Short Hills Macys is friendly, helpful& upbeat which is particularly impressive especially considering how much work they all have to do and how short-handed they are. I’m extremely impressed that the associates can keep smiling despite all the people impatiently waiting in line .Thank you Macys for employing such friendly and helpful associates at this location!

The store was picked over and the men's department was a mess. I will give them a small break because it's a few days after Christmas but Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus had clean dressing rooms and their merchandise was neatly displayed and very well maintained.

Not a great shopping experience. I've had some not so great experience at this Macy's.. which is odd, considering it's one of the large department stores at this upscale mall. Their customer service is poor. Today, I went in to make a return, which went fine (shoe department). But when I got to the handbag department, I announced I had my own recyclable bag for purchases as Millburn/Short Hills now charges for bags. As soon as I was rung up for a purchase, the saleslady told me that she had charged me .05 for a bag - she forgot I brought a bag, which was displayed on the counter along with my handbag purchase. I had to remind her to reimburse me (more to make a point than actually getting a nickel back). In the past, Macy's purchases always require a receipt, unlike Nordstroms or Neiman Marcus which looks up your purchase online and is fine with giving you credit on a purchase you made up to one year ago.

Was waiting to check out. Had a pair of shorts in my hand. A woman from across the store grabbed my attention and flagged me down to come to her. Her register was open. I’ve never had that happen to me. Lately it seems customer service has really gone down hill. Tricia was super friendly and really a pleasure to deal with. I asked for her name because the second she actually came to get me since her register was open. I knew I had to share my experience. Was blown away her friendly she was. Helped me order the shorts since my size wasn’t in stock. Thank you again.

Made a return of a top, that was too large, a birthday gift from a friend. Return was easy, and was able to use the gift card, to make another purchase. Masks were being worn by Macy's employees, as well as customers, and spacing on lines were 6 feet, or more. Store was not crowded, but customers were shopping while maintaining social distancing. 😷

Often times I find good deals on Macy's website. If the item is unavailable at the nearby store I get it shipped to the nearby store and pick it up from there. If I don't like it, I can return it right there. For me it's convenient instead of shipping back the item if I don't like it.

A big box Macy's store, located in the Short Hills Mall. Three stories, furniture on the top floor, women's clothes on the 2nd and shoes and rentals on 1st. Parking lot via the mall. Friendly staff even as they run sales, pitching insurance and warranties. Fewer items in stock than in the past.more efficient I guess. Delivery for larger pieces is 99$ plus $30 for each piece after up to $200. They can customize some fabrics but it takes longer to deliver.

Nice experience, a big collection on two story store but surprisingly not enough variety in shoes. When asked to look for the second pair of display shoe, we were told that you have to find it by yourself and have to have a box too. When i mentioned that i have gone through all and couldn't find any, i was told that whatever is on display is available and there is no backup storage....don't except that from bigger chain like Macys....

This store was a ghost town; not just the customers, but the employees, too! I could hardly find someone to give money to. Even the cashier I finally found admitted that Amazon is killing these guys and their competition. But yesterday's news shows Macy's stock going up based on good performance. Go figure.

So I'm giving this 5 stars for the neighborhood and because of the neighborhood it wasn't as unkempt as alot of other Macys are - there was a standard that they followed here and I appreciated it. There's also none of that backstage sad attempt at TJ Maxx/Marshall's business here, which is great cause backstage is a hot mess! With that being said, the plus size area, while large, skews very older grandma looking for a formal outfit, as opposed to trendy plus size like most other Macy's. BUT the atmosphere and cleanliness of the store made this one of my fave Macy's.

I go for the deep sales. For that, I give it 5 stars. Sales people are helpful and congenial, if you can find one. Unattended registers leave customers frustrated and standing on lines once you find one. If you need a customer service department, you are directed to a house phone at a crappy desk outside the smelly bathrooms. Some of the racks are so jammed with merchandise, that it's hard to sort through. But if you want a great deal, it's worth it.

Went looking for a sport jacket for a friend. Only seating available was outside the fitting room where clothes that people tried on were piled 2-3 feet high, all crumpled and intertwined. Hey Macys do you really expect people to buy these????? Yes the prices are reasonable but I don't buy clothes that are so wrinkled they need to be dry cleaned and pressed before I wear them. And you do a terrible disservice to people who need a chair because they have a bad back or leg and you can't find one where my friend is shopping and you have to walk clear across a floor to see. Terrible disservice to handicapped people. There aught to be a law against this. And you wander why brick and mortar stores are going out of business. Provide the service you're supposed to or close up!!! You don't deserve to be in business if you don't!

This is my favorite Mall of all time for fancy dresses. I've never found better dresses even at other Macy's than at upstairs in the Short Hills Mall. I always get the best compliments and have never been disappointed. When there are sales the dresses are very affordable.

This Macy's is better than Livingston's, but the reason why I gave it three is because one of the ladies who works at the MAC counter there was rude to me when I was returning barely used makeup. She automatically said in an attitude, "Is it used, oh yes it is?" and refused to return it, so I ended up having to go to Livingston 's Macy's MAC counter to return it. Also, when I was trying to return it, I had to wait forever for a manager to come down, because only the manager does returns. Screw this badly run MAC counter. Go to the real MAC store in this mall and they are friendly.

I bought a jacket. This was my first purchase. I got it online first on promotion from Macys but had to return it as the size didn't fit me well. When I was buying another one in small size, the promotion was gone. But the staff member was really cooperative and she figured out a great deal for me that I was able to buy it more cheaper than when I first bought it. Her name was Elizabeth. I bought it from Macys at Short Hills. I highly recommend this store and their products.

I'm not one to go mall hopping. However I decided to give 5 Day sale a try. Robert in the men's section was extremely helpful I got a Tommy Hilger suit regularly priced at $450 for $200 . 40L is hard to find , even the pants fitted perfectly. No adjustment needed. I bought a sweater and Alfani boots all on sale for another $70. It was truly worth. In and out within an hour. My kind of shopping. Back to the football ....
