We visited the Memories of New York shop on our last day in Manhattan. It has a huge selection of shirts and souvenirs. We saw more variety than the other shops we visited and the staff were helpful. Just like the other reviews have stated, what makes this shop special is the owner. He's so friendly and generous you can't help feeling good when you leave. We came away with souvenirs and a great memory of our visit there. We absolutely recommend this shop to others!

I went to New York for the first time and found out about this place. The owner is like your grandpa is so welcoming and very sweet. He is truly an amazing owner and person. The reviews on this place are true. If you are a first timer avoid the airport and time square shops and come here. The employees are nice especially the gentleman. Prices are the best around the city. I looked at many stores and all their shirts were more expensive than this one. Come here definitely the best gift shop in NYC.

A well stocked, busy little shop well down 5th Avenue. The owner was really lovely and gave my kids a couple of free postcards and bookmarks, as well as taking a bit of time to talk to them. A real gentleman, and the store in general is well worth the extra few blocks walking from mid town Manhattan. Best prices too.

This place is the bees neez! Albert, the owner, has been in the business for 35 years and he is as sweet as pie! I got the recommendation of Google on my first trip to NYC. And it was the best choice I could have ever made. Although small, MONY features a wide variety of souvenirs to meet every tourist need. This shop features a clearance section for budget shoppers like me. There are kids shirts 3 for 10$ and adult t-shirts starting at 5$. He also gave away a free souvenir pen with every purchase. But even more than that, he gave my 8 year old daughter a bunch of free souvenir items to take home (a calendar, stickers, snow globe, crayon box, etc). He was incredibly grateful for our patronage something that's kinda of rare for the New York scene. Albert is awesome! Definitely go check him out if you're in the area!!!!

Wow. I crossed all the city to come to this souvenir shop, and it was the best decision ever. The owner is a sweet old man, who loves to discuss with people, and who tries to make their day better. Great little souvenir shop not too far from the Empire State Building. We stopped in here to look for some cool souvenirs. They had all the typical souvenirs plus a huge selection of t-shirts here. We ended up getting a NYPD hat for my son and he absolutely loved it. Was only like $15 or so. We found most souvenirs were very affordable. Definitely check this souvenir shop out when in NYC. 5/5. So, I went to this place based on all the amazing reviews listed here. They are all accurate (I can't speak to the few negatives that said the owner scammed them. I have my doubts that it was done intentionally). I want to echo all the great reviews about the owner Alper. A kind, wonderful man who shared some of his story with me. He was so happy to hear there were good reviews of his store. The selection is large and varied and the prices are reasonable. Get all your souvenirs here! I didn’t think I would ever review a souvenir shop but this one is so worth it. Absolute 5 stars, mainly for the owner who was so kind and friendly, made the experience brilliant. We visited twice, came back on our last day when the temperature was really hot and the wonder kindly offered us to stay in for a bit to take advantage of the AC and get some refreshments before heading to the airport. There is no scamming here unlike most souvenir places selling items at extortionate prices. Prices are more than reasonable and great selection, a lot of items I didn’t see in other souvenir shops. Really highly recommend!

This place is honestly the best!!! They have EVERYTHING you may be looking for. Best New York souvenir shop and conveniently located as well! All the souvenirs are packaged neatly in boxes and bubble wrap and well presented for gifts. The owner and staff are soooo friendly and helpful. RALPH JR is a delight and he gave us a calendar of New York which was photographed by himself and explained a bit of the history of newyork. The prices are fair and variety is WIDE. Good shop to get some souvenirs for home! They have a lot of different stuff for sale. There are the usual t-shirts and sweaters, but also some nice models of the buildings and such of New York. The owner is extremely friendly and very patient, and that makes this shop unique. The prices are okay, but fair. I'd much rather spend a little more money here than some unpersonal run of the mill tourist shop close to Times Square.

I have never left a review before but this shop is worth the shout out. Souvenirs are much more unique compared to other souvenirs stores and are up to half the price compared to other shops.This however doesn’t compare to the kindness of the staff who offered their help and services whenever we asked and the owner himself is probably the sweetest, most generous man in New York, you’ll never meet a kinder shop owner. I read previous reviews before going to NYC and made the decision to go there if I could. I can very much say that the place and it’s lovely staff live up to all these wonderful reviews. If you go to NYC and happen to be shopping down 5th Avenue, go!!

Alper, the shop owner has been the most friendly and kind person we had the luck to meet in New York City. He has a great variety of souvenirs , postcards and anything in between. He gave us discounts and didnot accept any tip. (We really wanted but he just didn’t let us.) Before we left he even gave us nice gifts. Full of New York commemorative things, the first figure keychain, everything you can imagine with the New York logo or saying New York is there, the prices seemed a bit expensive to me. Whoever charges you greets you in Italian, Russian, German.... what I heard according to the nationality of the client. Local set with classical music.

This place is a must visit. Most probably the kindest gift shop owner in NYC. He cares a lot about his customers. I felt like I was a VIP there. He even gave me a good discount. Ask him about the NYC pictures he took for a calendar, he is quite skilled. About the products, I have not seen this much of product variety and affordability in any other gift shop in NYC. Plus, it is right next to the Flatiron Building and the Madison Square Park. Get yourself a burger from Shake Shack, enjoy it in the park and visit Memories of New York, you will not regret it. 10/10 I would go there again.

Awesome store!! We had a very good experience there :) The owner was very friendly and nice and the store has very reasonably priced items with a wide selection from smaller things like pens to more expensive artwork, shirts, figurines! Everything is about average pricing in a good way- 10$ for t shirts, and towels, more $ for sweaters and jackets and miniature replicas of the city, less than 10$ for other small figures, change purses, pens, etc. You’ll have a good time here :)

Including stories of previous vacations, family life, his story, and the history of the store itself I couldn’t believe the establishment has been open for 35 years! He did inform of how Covid did affect business and NYC as a whole we were more than happy with all of our items the total was $130+ we were happy to spend to support a local business. My daughters and I visited this store in April while looking for keychains. The store has a great selection and reasonable prices for souvenir items which are most times a bit more than regular items. The owner was so friendly and he really made our day with his pleasant attitude and smile. We will definitely go there again and highly recommend to others. A magical place with such a delightful owner what a lovely man... We were in the area to see the Flatiron building and this store was in my list to visit due to the high ratings on trip advisor. We were greeted as soon as we entered by the owner and I commented on how I had seen the trip advisor reviews so we had to come. He thanked us for our comments. And I then noticed that the prices were much more reasonable than all the other gift shops we had been in. We got a couple of tshirts, a baseball cap $9 cheaper than anywhere else, and some postcards. The owner then proceeded to give my sons lots of gifts for free. We were stunned and speechless. In this commercial world, the human touch is often removed. Far from it in this case, what an absolutely amazing man. My sons in particular absolutely love the bags he gave them and haven't stopped wearing them. A truly magical place

I visited this store just to experience talking to Alper as many of the reviewers mentioned about the owners's kindness and truly it was not a bummer. The 70+ year old still working 7 days a week happily inspired me. He certainly enjoyed giving a bunch of little things to our little one but more than that his appreciative words, loving attitude with people and blessings in words and thoughts from a happy elderly man uplifted my spirit adding a dose of positive vibes. It felt like visiting a local mom and pop store to me making a connection rather than typical business focused store. The things are priced right, saved time negotiating from 300% then coming to 100% in a typical China store. Options were wide too. It is located in a beautiful area near Madison Square park with views of Empire State and the beautiful Flatiron building and next to Lego shop and Eataly. Highly recommend! I will certainly stop by to say Hi to Alper in my next visit to NYC.

The owner is incredibly nice and the quality and diversity of his merchandise is fantastic. I was especially impressed with the postcards and Christmas ornament selection. I'm not a big fan of souvenir shops. I don't love this part of New York, particularly. However, sometimes visiting relatives and friends want some momentos. If that's the case, this is the best place to go. That's totally due to the staff. The man behind the register is clearly the star, making residents and tourists alike feel welcome and at home. Whether it's a joke, or a free gift, or advice about the city, he knows how to make an interaction special, without feeling disingenuous. The other staff is helpful as well, fetching t-shirts and answering questions. All of the souvenirs feel like decent quality, and there are some gems if you look hard enough (I was impressed with the postcard books near the register - not every shop has Weegee's New York postcards). All souvenir shops are not the same, the way that all bodegas are not the same. It's worth bringing the tour group here to shop. And, as you step out of the shop, the flatiron building is right there, giving your friends and family one more photo opportunity.

I went to the stores closer to Time Square and felt like I was buying a car instead of a T-Shirt with all of the pressure and following me around begging me to buy. Those store owners only know one sentence "I'll make you good deal". Avoid the hassle and high prices and GO TO MEMORIES OF NEW YORK!!! The store is well stocked with a ton of variety. The staff is helpful but not pushy. But what makes this place 5+ stars is the owner. He's been in business for over 20 years so he has that classic and iconic New York hospitality that has been lost in today's buy and get out enterprise.

Big thumbs up for this souvenir shop. There are more original objects there than in the shops at the top of Broadway. The boss systematically adds a few postcards and magnets to our bag. On the other hand, his cash register is quite old-fashioned, he doesn't have a bar code reader and types in all the prices by hand... don't be in a hurry... but we're on vacation!

Cheaper prices than in other less crowded places and most important of all, the owner is the most person you can find in the world. A countryman of the world, kind, polite and always smiling. In my case, I left a tip, and just for that, he asked us where we were from, he advised us on things to do and see, and he gave us a postcard.
