Very honest pet shop! They have a lot of cool brands, especially ones you might see online and purchase from a corporation, but you can support local for many items here! They're conscious of health, ethics, hazards, quality, and transparency. I try here before I buy online. (Also A+ for not selling punitive items such as prong collars, shock collars, etc.)

There isn't an incredible selection of foods. (Dog or cat). They seem to specialize in brands that aren't sold in your local Walmarts or Targets. I do like how they have locally produced foods. They have a little section of odd dog treats. (Duck heads, bull esophagus, pig ears and snouts....). I find it fascinating and my dogs find it delicious. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The only drawback is their parking. It's ungodly small. Only about four vehicles. Otherwise you're parking on the street and going for a walk.

I wish I could remember what the name of the associate was who helped us yesterday, but she was absolutely wonderful. I've been feeding my cat a raw diet for 3 years, but have his grinds shipped in from out of state (and therefore pay some insane shipping fees). The woman who helped me out recommended some local brands of raw foods to try for my cat, and she even gave me some free samples! She also gave me recommendations on some raw treats I could try, since he's very picky about what he eats. I'll definitely be back to this shop, it's a wonderful place.

I just went here for the first time today, but I’ll never go anywhere else! This place has a crazy good selection, especially with meaty treats and chews. My dog isn’t a fan of bully or biscuits, and this store has the largest selection I’ve seen of stuff my big guy loves. Their prices are super reasonable. Overall just a great experience

Having animals in the house makes it a necessity to visit some businesses with pets involved. Not to say my animals are sickly, but they certainly are getting older. Like some people, the vets have all made some suggestions regarding their diets. The dog, Miss Peanut, is a rescue animal and assumed to be around 14 y/o. And Peebody, the cat, got his name because, when he was a kitten, he used to pee on me frequently, is 10 y/o. Bark n Scratch has become a staple in my pets' healthy lifestyles. I recommend the shop to all of my friends... or anybody I overhear mentioning their animals. I don't know, because I've never had reason to check, if they carry supplies for horses and larger beasts, but they have a great selection of toys and treats. The team members are always sociable and ready to help. Check it out sometime, if you haven't already. Their prices are competitive with others in the industry.

Been going to this place for many years. They have extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. Especially when you are dealing with animals who require a special diet and attention, which is what they specialize in. The food may be a little pricier than the chain stores, but they also have alot more of a unique and specialized selection. They have their own parking lot and it is right off the freeway.

***Please Google the dangers of grain free diets!*** They are causing heart problems in breeds that are not usually prone to them! Mainstream foods have been tested for decades, your dog doesn't need a special diet unless he/she has allergies and your vet says so. Some big national brands have even done long term life feed trials so they know what it actually does to dogs over time unlike these boutique fad brands. Whatever this company responds with, don't believe the hype! You can save a lot of money and your dog's health by buying a national brand that has decades of science behind it. That being said, this store does have excellent service and a good selection of toys and treats. I still shop here but I wouldn't dare buy pet food here, though I prefer to support small businesses in my neighborhood. If they sold Purina ProPlan I would buy it here, but to do what's best for my dog I can't buy food here. Years and years ago you couldn't trust the food in grocery stores, but its gotten better. Read up. Don't just listen to science denying websites and antidotes. Trust vaccines and science! Don't believe the fads! ***P.S. to the store owners or whomever responds. Read what most vets say! Not what you believe. I trust diets with actual lifespan tests. I trust science. Vaccinate! Feed tested diets! Aromatherapy is not always safe and is never effective! God gave us brains to understand the world.

We started frequenting Bark N' Scratch Outpost after our family was made to feel very unwelcome at another local pet store because of our small children. The staff at Bark N' Scratch is amazingly friendly and helpful and we now love coming to your store. Most recently, one of my dogs went on food strike and we were having a terrible time getting her to eat (all vet visits were negative for anything medical). One of their staff members spent 45 minutes with us talking through our issues and sent us home with a giant bag of free samples and loads of advice. Bark N' Scratch is the only pet store I shop at. Not only are the owners and staff knowledgeable about food, treats, and supplements, but they are also very charitable. They are a staple in the rescue community. I am with the rescue Canine Cupids and we purchase our fosters food at Bark N Scratch. Any time I have a question about what will help a dog they are always friendly and help me find what will work best for that rescue dog. Over the past few years I have become more aware of all the fillers and other trash that is generally put in dog food. I have for many years tried to lead a more natural and wholesome life for myself and felt it would only be the conscientious thing to do for my pet. I am glad an employee of mine recommended it because I am not familiar with the area otherwise, it's sort of near the Baseball Stadium, but I am happy to have discovered Bark N' Scratch. The owner, Carrie, helped me choose the best food for my situation and my pet. We ended up selecting a freeze dried raw food. In just a short period of time after I found that my pets coat was healthier and he seemed to be less sluggish. The only con I have is that the store is pretty far from where I live and in a neighborhood that I feel less comfortable in. I would enjoy a store like this further West by me. Bark N Scratch Outpost is a great place to get high quality pet food. I have tried others, and have settled that it is my favorite pet food store. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and often gives samples of pet treats that I wouldn't have otherwise tried. Another bonus is the wonderful and clean smell of the store, that must be from the essential oils. I highly recommend this store.

I'd like for this review to be positive, and until today it would have been. Bark and Scratch has a large variety of quality dog food and products. Their staff is generally very helpful and good at providing suggestions when asked. I will never shop there again because of the rude and inappropriateness of the owner. This shop markets themselves as a caring local pet supply store. You should want to buy local and support businesses who provide the quality, knowledgeable and personal service you don't get at big box stores. Don't believe it. This owner is a greedy and money hungry, and really doesn't care at all about customers (or their pets), only about taking money. We have been shopping there for 3-4 years, getting specialty food for our 7 yr old vizsla. When he passed away suddenly, we were left with a recently purchased extra $60 bag of food and a multiple high quality cans of food purchased during his illness in an attempt to get him to eat during his final days. My wife contacted the store, explaining the situation, understanding that the store policy is to provide store credit only, and asking if it was possible to return the unopened, unused food for a refund instead, given that we no longer have a pet where we would ever be able to use store credit. After some back and forth with the owner, she then said to my wife, "No offense, but you didn't go back to your vet to ask him for a refund on his fees, since your dog died anyway." To make such a statement to a grieving pet owner is unbelievable and incomprehensible. It goes to show that this business owner doesn't get it. This wasn't an opportunity to save herself $70. It was a chance to show some compassion. It was a chance to endear her business to a loyal customer, and guaranty not only positive word of mouth, but possibly a return customer should we eventually become pet owners again. Now...why should be bother. I can get money grubbing, greed at PetCo, and probably at cheaper prices. Bottom line don't shop here. Find another local business that does care. This owner doesn't.

Very knowledgeable and helpful every time I have come in. They have giveaways when you buy food too which is nice to try new stuff... for free. They are the only place in the area that I know of that sells Orijen, which is the highest rated dry dog food out there. Also have a huge selection of raw diets and holistic foods. They don't sell the cheap food that will harm your dog, or the cheap formaldehyde soaked raw hides from china, or any other harmful product you can get at the big box stores. Do yourself and your pet a favor and shop local, buy quality, and do it at a place where the people care about you and your pet.

I have been to this store a couple times in the past, and now I think it's going to be where we get our pet food and treats exclusively. They have tons of samples available, so you can try different foods to see what your dog likes- they have so many choices of high end food at reasonable prices. We were helped by John, and he was very knowledgeable and kind, answering all zof our questions about the different kinds of food, chews, and toys. They also have a program on pet food- bring in 12 UPCs and receipts, and your 13th bag of food is free! Thanks again for what you guys do!

The quintessential “mom n’ pop shop!” The store feels like family; there is a different atmosphere when you come in off the street from the cold cruel world into this loving place. Every customer is valued, but above all the animals well being is valued. They are always happy to help with anything. Complex health issues can be solved with a good diet, and this is the place to get it. No excuses not to feed your pet well, there is a great range in prices, meaning ANYONE can afford to feed better than dog chow, and treat their dog to something special from time to time. Everything a pet owner would need, and if they don’t have it they will order it for you at no extra charge! They know you love your pets and want to make the relationship between you and them be the best it can and last as long as it can. To the Grusnicks: I have to say, yours is the only inappropriateness I see, bordering on slander. I can only assume your words derive from the pain of your loss or out of a need to defend your wife’s honor. Understandable. What I do not understand is why after the passing would you have such a focus on getting the money back? And then to call another money hungry? Harsh, especially when prices are clearly kept to a minimum to make a good diet affordable to anyone. It was not your money anymore, you spent it. Most people donate anything they have left after the passing of a pet, except certain memorabilia that is kept of course. Perhaps the owners response was “harsh,” but it was real, and sometimes people need to be real, especially if you are being pushy. You had a right to call and ask for a refund, but if you do not accept a response to a request then you are not really requesting, you are demanding. I am sorry for your loss, and hope the void you feel is soon filled.
