When I was little and went to church picnic, Muths candy was always in the candy booth. Now I have to go to there store. Love the place that wonderful smell that hit's you as the door opens. Always busy at xmas, so order are visit early.

Muth's Candies is a heritage establishment making some of the best candies in town. They're well known for their modjeskas, a soft caramel with a marshmallow center, that was invented here in Louisville in the 1800's. They also make a variety of other candies, both chocolate and not. We bought a stash to share with family, and every piece was excellent. We purchased toffees, vanilla caramels, honey comb, modjeskas, Peanut butter squares, sour worms and gummy frogs, and an 8 piece box of bourbon barrels made with Very Old Barton, all for $30. They also make Easter candy (where I'll be shopping this year), and have a variety of wedding/party printables and packages. Their prices are better than fair, and they seemed you have a good selection. I saw some complaints on another site that the store is old and needs to be renovated. I do not agree. I like the antique ambiance of the store. Not everything needs to be brand new.

I order modjeskas online from Muth’s regularly for my grandmother, but we decided to take her out there today while we were in town. She said it hasn’t changed since she was a kid—and of course we treated her to a bunch of candy! She was so thrilled! Love supporting a local business like Muth’s.

Immediately loved this place - the candy yes of course, but the history too! Been around 101 years so far and they still do it the old way, and it's the best. Would love to see them really use their history to their advantage and play up their merchandising in the store a little - such great historical features, it's a hidden gem that definitely has a glow factor that isn't being used to its full potential. If they're putting all their focus on the candy, that's ok - it's working!

A piece of Louisville history, Muth is a classic gem with an original candy that has been made since its inception - the Modjeska. The candy display cases look original, and the staff have the passion for the product as well as the customer service skills that convey the history that helps to transport you back to 1921. TIP - you can order boxes for Christmas - but get your orders in before August, when they tend to get busy.

The selection of candy was awesome! They have new flavors like espresso beans, red velvet, and raspberry raisin. Some do have a little achohol like rum and bourbon. I had purchased the raspberry raisin. It tastes like a taffy with raspberry and raisin mixed. I encourage you to try any flavor in the store. Their hours are 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Mon - Thurs.

Visited this wonderful 100-year old traditional candy shop in Louisville. Love their brittles, bourbon creams, and of course, their Modjeskas. And this is perhaps the only place in KY and IN that sells dark chocolate candied orange peel candies (my wife's favorite)! Counter staff was very helpful, patient, and friendly. Hope they're here for another 100 years!

Omg! The candy is phenomenal! We bought a mod podge of items but my favorite (besides the vanilla salt water taffy) is the Modjeskas! I've never had anything like it & my goodness it's sooooo delicious! I wish we would've bought 4 more of these bags! I'm NOT sharing with anyone!

I stand corrected. Once I contacted Muth's via email, the customer service that I received was unparalleled. Not only are they replacing my original order free of charge, they are also shipping it quickly so i may receive it this week. This makes me want to give them another chance hence this corrected review, as well as sampling their flavors and reviewing the packaging. Great customer service always makes for a great company. This makes me happy and makes me want to do business with them again. Thank you very much Muth's. I'm impressed. Not a favorite. I order a box of 20 (I think) assorted chocolate creams and received a box of 20 banana creams. I contacted customer service who never responded. One and done. They weren't that great and packaging was sloppy.

I'm glad I didn't trick myself into getting the cheap candy, because the custom stuff they make was way better. Raspberry raisin caramels? Holy cow, way better than expected. The modjeskas were very tasty too.

We had an incredible experience at this Louisville sweet spot. It has been in the city since 1920's and has resided at it's current location since the 1960's. We were greeted by a friendly lady who said she's worked here for 21 years. We bought several treats and they were awesome!! Definitely recommend the turtles, malted balls, popcorn peanut brittle and the gummy bears. Thanks Muths and keep up the great work!

Oh my god. My boyfriend had brought me some bourbon balls and their specialty of homemade mashmellows covered with caramels. When I visited, I made sure to stop here and get more. Old ladies that work there are very friendly, and locals love this spot!

Mute candies has been around for quite a while we usually go there right before Easter to get some candy. The candy is of excellent quality and ingredients. If there was anything negative about this it would be that their pricing is a little on the high side however you get what you pay for

One of the only reasons I venture downtown, besides going to the cute art galleries around here and the park, is for Muth's. Bourbon Balls here are perfectly crafted with the smoothest dark chocolate coating surrounding a mouth watering sweet bourbon cream filling. Ive tried a few bourbon balls (makers mark doesn't come close to these), and this is by far the best my taste buds have ever met. I also buy these with their very soft melt-in-your-mouth vanilla caramels.

Great little candy store in Louisville Kentucky. This also is a stop whenever I visit Southern Indiana. The chocolates are great and they always have a theme for whatever is going on. Right now they're theme is the Kentucky Derby. Worth finding a parking place to go to this candy store.

EXCELLENT DARK CHOCOLATE! Love these people some of whom may have been at the opening. The ladies are sweethearts! Only problem is they close at 1600 (4p). Great if you have the day off. Easter is just amazing. I buy my 80+ year old mom their licorice and she says it has "that snap". If you've not had the dark chocolate coated malted milk balls.... You have NOT lived.

Candy is outstanding! HOWEVER, this place is in desperate need of a renovation. Better lightning is a must. When I walked in, I wondered if the door was supposed to be locked because it felt like the place was closed. The smell wasn't the best either, probably due to the age of the building. When I walk into a candy store I'm expecting some sweet scents. I would be baking cinnamon sticks all day long . Overall look and feel needs a face lift. Especially for being in nulu.

Nice acquaint little piece of history. An older place but it does not affect the quality of their friendliness and quality handmade candies. Especially, what is called a modjeska, a Carmel cube with some type of marshmallow center, which is absolutely amazing.

The pastel pretzels are insaaaaaanely crave-able! You think they're going to be basic chocolate covered pretzels, but then you eat them and you realize you've never been more wrong about anything in your entire life before. Not only is Muth's the oldest candy store in Louisville but it is also the best. They are known for their Bourbons and their modjeskas wich are the best I've ever tasted. Also well worth mentioning are the chocolate covered cherries and the brittle. All their chocolates and brittles are hand made and of the finest quality.
