You have a pet or want a small pet you have to check this place out. Prices are not too bad. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our daughter has donated her small hamsters here when they were hard to interact with. She has also bought a beautiful Dumbo Rat from here. We have bought dog food and fish a time or two. I prefer this store over a big box store.

Me and my son came in for a turtle tank and to my surprise they not only had a 40 gallon tank but it was a deluxe package that included a nice filter, dock, stand, and water solution along with couple months worth of food. I'm used to having to shop around, so to find everything in one place was incredible. Guys helped me load it in the car and were friendly from beginning interaction to closing sale. Great experience!

This is the best locally owned pet shop in the northeast Houston area. Trey is very helpful and his staff is super friendly. I stop here weekly to pickup feeders for my ball python collection. They are always willing to work out a good deal on bulk purchase orders for feeder rodents. Great prices for a local retail business. I also found out they now are offering dog grooming.

I have been coming here for 2+ years and I love the environment. I see how some people comment on how the animals are not housed properly in the correct size but I never see the same animal here for more then a few days, it’s not any different then taking your pet (reptile) on vacation or going to pet-co or pet-smart and having it in a small carrier or 15 housed together. They do not sell any kittens that are sick. I do consider them a rescue cause they will take in animals you no longer desire and give them the care needed. I do see crickets on the floor but never roaches or rats ! I come here once maybe twice a week and love how anytime I have questions they have answers. They don’t pressure you to buy anything and they have layaway plans which is perfect for me ! Plus look what new fish they have in 🤗🤗

I LOVE this place! The staff go above & beyond to help with all of our animal needs! Finding things for my ferrets used to be a chore until I found this place. My kids get as excited to go as they would going to the zoo! I highly recommend Animal Ark to anyone who has a pet.

We went to this amazing pet shop on a field trip with the Cambridge School in Humble, TX. The people are so friendly, patient and knowledgeable! They showed the children scorpions, snakes, turtles, BIG spiders, ferrets and bunnies. They had many types of fish. Our favorite were the glo fish. They help you figure out what's the best pet for you! We were truly amazed by this place and it's staff! We definitely recommend it and we will be back for pet needs.

I really enjoy going to Animal Ark. It has a huge selection in both pet supplies and animals underneath a quaint 'mom n' pop' atmosphere. I never saw a legless lizard available for sale before, but they had one, and for a reasonable price too! I started going there because I needed a place to buy frozen rodents for my boa. Places like PetsMart don't have the range of sizes needed to take care of a growing baby boa. Animal Ark has all sizes of baby rats like pinkies, fuzzies, etc. Other places normally just have frozen full grown mice and rats. They have a huge selection of fish and rodents. They even have litters of kittens for sale. The enclosures for their reptiles look spotless and the fish look fantastic. My only reservation about the place is the housing for their small rodents. It's nothing to write home about, just a cage with bedding. Assuming the animals don't spend more than a couple of days there, I won't mind, but I really wish the pets had more enrichment, especially for the ones who stay longer while they wait for a permanent home. There's definitely that 'animal funk' about the store-- but I don't think it's for lack of cleanliness. The place is very well maintained. I believe it's just the amount of animals in such a compact space. It's never going to smell like a daisy. That's the only thing that's keeping me from giving it a 5/5. The store is great, but I feel the small mammals need some TLC to their houses.

This was by far better than a 5 star rating. These people really put everything into the animals they have and they are so open to questions and are very knowledgeable. Our family got to interact with a few animals and we learned so much. We truly look forward to adding this addition to our family. Handle them with care if they allow. These babies deserve a good home for whatever you decide to buy.

We love this place! It's so much better than a chain pet store, they have actual knowledge and are willing to help in any way they can. I bought my snake from them two years ago and when I was concerned about him they told me to bring him in and then spent thirty minutes checking him out and giving advise to make his life better. You just don't find service like that anymore

I had originally posted a 4 star rating years ago but they've definitely up'd their game since then. They have a great variety of products and a decent selection of small animals to choose from. If you can't find something in-store, they'll order online. This was especially helpful when loading up on 20+ tanks for a reptile showroom. I also use them when I need feeders and don't feel like driving all the way out to Magnolia.

The smell was bad but the employee's were awesome and the animal life was awesome I bought a picasimus he had my tank cleaned in one night my niece bought a surrendered rat for her daughter as a pet and he was very very sweet and awesome she loves him The big one I bought here the other came from Petco and this is the first time I've seen him since I got him but the big one has been everywhere the whole time

A few months ago, we brought my teenage daughter's betta fish to be surrendered. We were flying to our new home (we didn't want to risk the fish being confiscated at the airport), we couldn't find a friend or family member who wanted a fish, and my daughter was very upset. Not only did Animal Ark agree to accept him, but the staff members--and several customers--made a big deal about how beautiful and healthy the betta was and how well she must have cared for him. Everyone was so kind and supportive, and they really seemed to understand how attached a person could become to a fish. Thank you so much.

Hands down my favorite pet store. I go to there quite often and the staff is really friendly. They always have a variety of animals and different ones each time I go in there. I can almost always find what I am looking for with the exception they don't always carry certain brands of pet foods but that's alright. Despite that highly recommend people stop by if they are looking for supplies for their animals.

Nice place to shop! Large selection of fish, supplies, and small mammals. There is a gruesome smell to the but it is a pet store so what do you expect. It comes from the guinea pigs and rabbits but soon as you walk in the door you get a warm welcome from the staff, even their parrot.

I have been coming here for years, definitely the best pet store around. The employees know exactly what they're talking about and give great advice. I had a problem getting my uromastyx To eat and they worked around my schedule to take him into their care in order to get him to eat. The items they sell are way cheaper than anywhere else and the staff is exceptionally friendly. I have purchased pretty much my entire pet collection from here and have never had an issue with any of them (aside from the uro which they got to eat again). I will continue to come here regularly

Thanks for the NO HELP! I come here a lot the guy who normally works was off I guess but he is a cool guy and very helpful, however today 12:22 PM Sunday 3/27/22 the girl working the counter didn't say a word to me I stood by the fish supplies for ten minutes she had no guests so I then stand in front of her while she looked at stuff on the computer then a guy walks in and she says hello how can I help you, I'm like wow must be a special look of people she helps so I dropped my items and walked out!

And a nice selection of hermit crabs bunnies and hamsters.. all with variations of different types of their fav foods. The shop needs an air freshener but that just means they do have tons of animals.

I've been shopping here for about 10 years. They have many items for pets/animals. They probably should look into a bigger store (very narrow, crowded). There's always a very strong "animal smell" when you walk through the door, however, they do house MANY animals--kittens**, birds, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, mice, snakes, lizards, spiders, crickets, freshwater fish and I've even seen ground hogs. ** I've purchased 2 kittens over the years and both were quite sick (PLEASEget ANY new animals checked out by a vet ASAP). The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Most have a great attitude /you can tell that they love what they do.... occasionally a staff member seems like they don't want to be there. Overall, they've been very helpful and their prices are better than Petsmart. I would recommend...IF you don't mind the smell!!

Very knowledgeable staff especially with exotic critters. The store has a well rounded supply of products for dogs, cats, & birds. My mom shops at this store exclusively for supplies for her bearded dragon and her turtles (water & land). The prices are very reasonable.

In general, it's a very convenient store in Kingwood and has everything you need. They try to keep the doors open to freshen out but the store needs a deep cleaning honestly. Family adopted a cute cat and she's doing great with no issues. I personally adopted fishes and 5 deaths happen all within a 2 week span. My original fishes purchased elsewhere are all alive and well plus I have two well cycled tank and test water parameters every 3-5 days so my tank wasn't the issue. Like I said, they are good for your pet needs but I wouldn't recommend adopting fish.

Staff is very knowledgeable. I was looking to buy a snake and the male employee was happy to explain all about the specific care and feeding for that particular breed. He let me hold the snake and even set up the tank for me at the store and explained how everything worked. Very friendly. I gave four stars because I noticed the dog bones in the bins had corpse beetles, but it's really not a big deal. Just freeze the bones for a few days and the bugs die. All in all, I had a good experience here. The prices were also great as well. The tank I got was actually $50 cheaper than at the big name pet store. And the snake I bought is very healthy. Great color and very active and curious. The other snakes at the store seemed happy in their confinements and I noticed a feeding sign-off sheet taped to the wall so they keep track of things. It did seem a little musty and dusty in the store, but honestly, how great can you scrub the floors and walls when you're caring for so many animals on a daily basis? The animals seemed well cared for and happy. Definitely recommend this store.

Wide variety of pet needs. Animal Ark was stocked with a wide variety of supplies for pet needs. The standard items are all available, as expected (dog, cat, fish food, etc.). But they also provide live critters for feeding lizards and, in my case, centipedes. They also have a wide array of pets. Will be visiting frequently for pet needs.

I go here at least once a week to get feeder mice. Every time I go in, I have a great time. Even though it's usually just for business, I still like to look around and see how the animals grow from week to week. Their staff are SUPER friendly and knowledgeable. I dare say they know more than I do on some things ;) As a testament to their great customer service I'll Tell you what happened today (July 17, 2015), I go in to get my weekly mice and after looking around a bit I left and started to drive home. About three quarters of the way home and I looked down and one of the mice has died for some reason or another. I called them and let them know, to which they responded, "I am very sorry please come back and we will give you another one." I drove back and they replaced it free of charge and with a smile on their faces. While they are there to make money, they also want their customers to be educated so that the animal they sell them will be in good care, and live a long, happy, healthy life. They aren't going to let a beginner walk out of their store with something they know is too difficult for them to take care of at their experience level. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone in the north Houston area. I've seen them in almost every reptile show in Texas and they are competitive with their pricing. Anyway, this review is going on longer than expected. Long story short, they are good people, but don't just take my word for it, go see for yourself. :D

I Bought my hedge hog here around 3 months ago. The staff was very friendly and helpful in getting everything I needed to take care of him. After a month I took the little guy to the vet where he got a clean check up with no mites of fleas. According to my vet it's easy for them to get mites at the pet store. Since he got a clean bill of health I wanted to recommend them to anyone wanting a pet hedgehog.

I've been going here for years and have gotten practically all of my pets and their supplies from this store. While they do have many young staff as volunteers and trainees, the actual staff is quite knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The store is a bit cramped, however the animals seem to be in decent health. I would recommend giving any pets you take home a good bath, but other than that I have nothing but positive feedback .

Great prices and staff is very friendly. They're not all very knowledgeable and they forgot to give water to some of the animals. Of course no one always has all the answers anywhere you go, and mistakes happen... But I bet if those were their personal pets that they paid for they wouldn't have forgotten. Oh, apparently they don't keep track of feeding?... I also got told "I don't know" a lot. I believe the person I dealt with may have just not been familiar with everything, but I felt like the "I don't know" was a very inadequate answer. Other than that I had a great experience.

No commercialized mass production autobots here. Staff was pleasant, responsive and knowledgeable. Their aquatic stock was surprisingly abundant in both variety and quality. Terrestrial and amphibious section outshines any big box pet store I've ever been to, many times over. Of course the mainstream pet selection was quite smaller and tended towards the trendy or more exclusive product lines, most needs seemed to be addressed by at least one product offered. Didn't see any sale or clearanced sections advertised or readily displayed, but being so varied and unfamiliar to me, I may have simply overlooked or skipped any over, accidentally. Will definitely return

The location is small and the fish inventory appeared very small from what I have seen on other pet stores. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they do have exotic lizards, bugs and arachnids and they do carry Axolotls. They have many different foods for your exotic pet. You certainly want to pay them a visit even if you are just coming to see the awesome pet tegu lizard.

First off please excuse my name. Can't log into my professional account on phone. So I've been wanting to get ball python for a little bit and have been doing a bunch of research for a while. I have a phobia of snakes but I decided to get one to try and learn about snakes and get over my phobia. I went to several shops and I was really scared holding all the snakes and they were all nippy. Being that it's my first snake I definitely wanted a chill guy instead of having to tame one. This shop was about 50 minutes from where I was from and I actually wasnt even planning on getting a snake due to my past expericences at other reptile shops and pet stores. But upon arriving the male that helped me, I forget his name, was very nice and informative. When he brought out the snakes to hold they were all chill. I was looking into morphs but he showed me a normal ball python and I feel in love with him. He is currently hanging out around my wrist as I'm typing this review. He is so cool and I'm so glad I went this pet shop. With all the good reviews I don't know why it still has 4.5 star rating. Also for the other one or two bad reviews, they are just petty people. One comment about the pet store being dirty is just outrageous. It's a pet store ofcourse its not going to be spotless and I've seen actually dirty pet stores. This one is very inviting and the people are nice. I didn't see any sick animals here.

I found this spot by mere accident when looking for roaches for my tarantula. 3 years later 4 tarantulas later, I love to come here for my pet’s food and or other essential items. Trey (spider man) and his wife have been very helpful and take their time to educate me and my husband on exotic spiders. I don’t mind driving 25+ minutes.

An older store but with a down home feel for a pet store. I went in to purchase some neon tetras and 3 dozen ghost shrimp. I ended up with just the ghost shrimp and talked myself into an albino cory cat. I really enjoyed this spot however when I woke the next morning, all of the shrimp (1 dozen) and my albino cory cat I placed into one aquarium were dead. Thankfully, the remaining ghost shrimp are alive in my other tank. Not sure what happened in that one tank but I tested my water and it along with the other tank are fine and within their parameters. Just a crazy fluke it all happened in one tank I guess. I have since placed a more expensive Amano, cherry red, and neon yellow shrimp in that very tank and they are all alive still. I went with a few nerite snails instead of another cory cat. So the rest of my ghost shrimp are happy and healthy. I enjoy watching them swim around and play in an anubia I have floating that I haven't decided what to anchor it to. I am happy with Animal Ark and will definitely visit again for a male Betta. I'm hoping to find one with really unique color patterns. Happy days peeps! :)

This place is awesome they have wonderful prices and are very friendly they have so many exotic animals in there it’s always a treat to go there I know fish and when I went there there were fish that I never knew exsisted and the prices for the tarantulas are 👌 and the tarantulas they have are awesome they even have kittens and a black chinchilla. I would recommend to go here over any other pet store and wonderful customer service they give facts about every animal they have the people who give bad reviews don’t know s good pet store if it hit them in the face. I've been coming to this store for 4 years now. It's always been a great place to go for all your pet needs. They carry so much stuff for such a small store. It's locally owned and they've even been willing to order odds and ends I was looking for for my pets. I've got a cat, a rat, 3 snakes as well as my roommates having birds and amphibious critters and we can get everything in one place! Plus the idea of supporting a local business is always great. All the bad reviews about smell and unprofessional behavior have been by angry people who can't tell a good shop when they see one. Come see it for yourself.

I went to Petco to buy a Basking lamp they wanted 19.95 which I later bought at Ark for 12.95. I love the place and looking at the cats when I am there always gives my daughter and I a lot of fun.
