Beautiful new location at Jordan Creek Town Center, formerly at Valley West. They remodeled the former Younkers space to save serious $ rather than building out the still available final anchor space. So they lost their tall ceilings, massive back rooms and palatial restrooms but the new store is lux, feels like a step back in time to the peak age for department stores. Prices are high, so if you have time scan the code on your smartphone. I left one of two items I liked today because the online price was less than half. I’m ok with paying convenience prices but it wasn’t actually convenient this first big Christmas shopping weekend when VM was curiously understaffed for their 2nd weekend open. I especially appreciate the included gift wrapping at Christmas so always buy moms gift there for great wrapping too.

This is a must when I come back to Iowa to visit family. I love their selection of clothes and shoes, and always find cute gifts in their houseware/seasonal section. During Christmas they hang beautiful decorations, and year-round they have a pianist playing which is such a nice touch. Always have a wonderful experience here!

I have to be honest, I didn’t shop here… But I did park outside and pass thru the store on my way into the mall. However, the store was decorated nicely— way more festive than the mall itself. There did seem to be interesting items that caught my eye. Maybe sometime when I have more time I’ll visit and shop.

I’ve lived here, my whole life, and I love the old Von Maur:( the hunter green and wood, the ladies lounge.. i remember taking my children to get their first pair of shoes in the children’s department. I will try to get used to the new location. It just seemed like it kind of looked like a Kohl’s. It was very white. It was very bright, and I really didn’t know where anything was.

Not loving the new Von Maur. Too spread out and hard to find sale racks (which, face it--everyone loves a sale) Sizes are scattered among different racks as well. No different from Dillards and the women's shoe department is not as efficient as the old store. Understaffed, plus I was waiting at the counter to be rung up but a girl took care of her "customer" before me--for the sale. I also don't like the "are you a Von Maur card member" at every sale. It's like shopping at Kohls. Too bad but I'll save money in the long run by not shopping here.

Went shopping for a prom dress for my daughter. Found the perfect dress. They even held it for us so we could finish shopping. Von Maur dress department attendant was very helpful. Would recommend shopping here for any occasion.

Always enjoy shopping in this store, beautiful decorations and relaxing piano music. Just went there recently with a friend and I have to say the lady in Estee Lauder cosmetics exceeded my expectation! Her name is Cheenee Perkins. She is very friendly and helpful. I'm in love with new lipstick colors she recommended to me. Feel so beautiful and confident with these colors on!!! Definitely recommend her to anyone needs good advice on makeup.

Love this department store, absolutely beautiful. The shoe department is the best place to find shoes in Des Moines, ask for Becky, she’s the best. The store is very clean, staffed with excellent staff/associates, and it’s just very welcoming. The only downer, is that they have no sales, so the price is what it is. The atmosphere is wonderful. Quality merchandise.

Went into Von Maur with my mom and I think the store itself has a great selection, especially in footwear (boots, sandals, shoes, etc). There was one staff that greeted us and was really friendly. I did notice that other staff members glancing at us (we dressed in a hoodie/sweats that day), can't tell if they were judgemental or simply just looking

This particular location has of the best (if not THE best) shoe selections in the Midwest, and that’s not even an exaggeration. Been shopping here since I had my first job in high school and could finally buy my own stuff! The associates are always helpful and pleasant but not pushy. The interest-free, low-limit credit card is also an amazing perk. It taught me how to properly use credit from a young age (17 years old). And more than 10 years later it is still my oldest line of credit. Von Maur is by far the best department store available and it continues to stand the test of time. And this location is particularly top-notch.

This is a "flagship" store in its West Des Moines location. Valley West Mall has seen a huge downturn in sales and traffic over recent years in businesses, and many stores folded or left. Von Maur helps so far to keep the traffic up in the mall somewhat, which is scheduled to have a big overhaul in the future. If you are not familiar with Von Maur it has everything from clothing and accesories to furniture and household goods. If you are used to shopping at discount "outlet" or "warehouse stores" you will have some "sticker shock" in store for you when you visit this nice store. It is very clean and nicely laid out inside. The various departments are very well staffed and finished, and full of all kinds of options in every imaginable department. I would compare the prices I see to what I know about Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus and similar stores that sell quality clothing, and a wide variety of household things at upper middle to high price ranges. For the most part, the quality is there for sure, but as I said, if you are used to buying various brands online or in "discount" clothing and outlet stores, (especially Amazon for many things) you'll see much higher prices for identical or similar things. I wish this store well. I did not really need anything when I visited, but I did plenty of looking. The main thought I had when I was there was "I know I can get that same item for 20-40% less if I go online and look. Some people simply hate to shop online for any item. I am not one of them, as long as they have a good return policy. I wish this store well, but I will continue to buy online and save some money.

I went last Sunday April 10 to look for black dr ss shoes I'm a woman and have large feet size 11 or 12 I know they can't carry every size I found 1 shoe no 11 or 12 I found another shoe size 11 I tried the shoes on as soon as I put them on I said these fit perfect but I'll walk around I'm very happy and pleased the shoes are for my Maundy Thursday I'll be wearing this week Very professional and helpful Von Maur is one of my favorite stores helpful staff and good quality clothing etc I highly recommend Von Maur I'm a repeat cuatomer

Went to the store with my wife. The staff is extremely helpful and a step above most department stores. The product selection is top notch and high quality. Best atmosphere of any department store you will find anywhere. When you walk in you immediately feel like you have money (but this is America so most of us don't) and unlike most other stores, there is always staff there to help you and they know what they're talking about. Class, class, class.

It's my favorite store in the world. The merchandise is beautiful. The salespeople are more like hosts than employees. The piano music makes you feel like you're in a movie. The perks are many: interest free credit card, free/low cost alterations, free shipping, free gift wrapping and great sales.

Von Maur has a decent selection of high quality brands. If you're looking for a cheap pair of jeans or shoes you would be advised to go to elsewhere. However, they do have sales and their staff is helpful and knowledgeable. You will find brands here that the other department stores do not carry. Overall I would definitely recommend Von Maur to those that want to combine high quality merchandise with excellent customer service. As they say, you get what you pay for, and that is the case here.

I enjoyed my trip here, the ladies that worked here were all very helpful. The lady (didn't catch her name) was very helpful, as I've never bought jewelry for a significant other before. The complimentary gift wrapping took a bit longer than expected, but good god. The present wrappers must be professionals. My gift looked like a master wrapper had wrapped it. The music was very calming, there was a women playing the piano. I like this store a lot!

This is truly a destination place to visit. People drive 4 hours from all around Iowa and Illinois to visit the Von Maur stores. It's great that they are expanding outside of the Midwest into the South. Amazing quality items, clothing, shoes, gifts and more. Yes, some of the items are highly priced, but look for the racks that have markdowns you can find amazing deals there! You must visit, and if it's the holiday season you'll be amazed at the incredible decorations. You'll be glad you visited.

In my opinion Von Maur has had the best customer service, until new policy...now the price of an item dictates service. Now calling 33 stores for an item is ridiculous. Now even in store get told go look over there. Where over there??? And to get transferred from department to department to find an item is very poor customer service!!!
