Reviews of Brass Armadillo Antique Mall - Des Moines
A little bit of everything! Not a whole lot of left over garage sale junk. Most items were actual antiques. Prices were a little higher than you may find at some stores. Helpful workers and clean facility all around.
Great place! Lots and lots and lots and lots of stuff, unique, fun, interesting eclectic stuff to browse. Plus plenty of helpful (as much as they could, because no one can know where everything is in that place!) and friendly workers. If you can't find at least one thing to buy here, you're not shopping hard enough! Lol. Great experience, I highly recommend this place! Easiest 5 stars I've ever done for a antique store.
Super cool store! Traveling from out of state, and enjoyed strolling around the store for about 2 hours. Still didn't see everything. Really unique finds, good prices, and very sweet and friendly staff
Picked up a couple antique pieces last weekend. The staff was very helpful and great to work with. Thanks... I'll be back for more!
Looking For a Christmas present? This is the place to go!
There's something here for everybody.
Reasonable prices. If you want to sell some of your antiques, Memorabilia, trading trading cards, dolls, Seasonal gifts, everything you can imagine!
Doesn't matter if you're young or old this will be your new favorite place to shop for gifts!
You've gotta check out the brass armadillo.
Not as good as I anticipated. Sure, lots of stuff. But just not a lot of upper end antiques. And while I don't mind newer items, they are a bit over crowded to get to look at ie. records, comics, books, etc. On the plus side, they do have some nice pictures and frames, antique tools, and the best designed booth has nice cameras and Iowa related pictures that are framed nicely.
Cool place! My girlfriend and I spent several hours walking through all the exhibits and we are pretty sure we still missed a lot of things. I bought a 130 year old book for a good price. We both had a great time! We plan to come back again soon!
Very nice staff that are very helpful, enormous space with vendor stalls to dig through, something here for everyone about 20 times over!
Also saw comments about no masks which made me nervous, but only a very few customers didn't, all staff were masked up and enough room to feel comfortable while browsing for hours.
This place is huge! So many different little niches from taxidermy and antiques to modern day home decor. Something for everyone. 100% worth a stop, expect to spend at least an hour!
Love all the selection. Employees were super helpful!
So much fun to browse! The staff here was super friendly. I got some great deals on vintage hats. Most of the sellers have very reasonably priced items. The bathrooms and refreshment area were very clean. If you’re passing through Iowa as we were, you should definitely stop by the Brass Armadillo!
12/2022. Our first time here. The venue is filled with individual vendors booths. Each booth appears to be well maintained and there is a large variety of items to purchase.
If you are looking for vintage this is the spot. Absolutely amazing displays, beautiful decor, and we found a Lazy Susan that is one of a kind find!
First off, the photos are a bit more holiday oriented due to the time of year. But that's definitely not all this place offers ! Part Antique Mall, and part Flea Market, this place has a little something for ANYONE ! Records, guitars, video and DVDs, Toy Tractors, Disney items, autographs of celebrities, rustic signs, and modern fixtures, dolls, action figures, ceramic figurines, rare coins, ornaments, Christmas decorations, bicycles, and much, much more !!! Many of the booths (but not all) have had some special attention done to their presentation, so that they are not only full, but still inviting to step in and look around at the seller's "wares" without feeling like you have to rummage. Some of these I showcased in the accompanying photos, others I left out, because well, I may want to go back for them soon and I don't want to give away their location 😎 Even to just to look at everything available on a browsing day, you could spend 1½-2 hours here just taking it all in. I will definitely be going back for some of those wonderful finds I'm keeping to myself. Happy Hunting...
Always a stop for us whenever we’re around. Be careful to check your receipts, though. They don’t always capture the dealer discounts at checkout.
If you're looking for a place to wander around aimlessly and find cool knick knacks and antiques this is the place for you. I have so many different items to choose from specialty knobs to furniture to collectibles fun odds and ends. I definitely don't recommend trying to do this whole place in one day but if you have a mission you can definitely come here and find it.
Awesome place that could easily take up an entire days worth of time looking around
I really enjoy exploring the isles at Brass Armadillo. You never know what you're going to find or what you're going to come home with. They have a reward program that gives you points for the amount of money you spend, which is a fun perk. Be sure you're got at least a few hours on your hands if you're planning on stopping in! Remember that the individual sellers set their own prices, so watch out for overpriced items.
So many good treasures to find for all. From sports memorabilia to antique items this place has it all. Be prepared to stay a while as you go down every single isle so you don't miss anything.
Allow 4 hours of browsing atleast! Much to see and plenty of items for every collectable hound! I picked some beautiful perfume bottles and many other items. Love this place!
So much fun! Something for everyone! New items every day. Furniture, antiques, collectibles, home decor... you’ll definitely find something for yourself or as a unique gift!
Jacobs Jon here, once again telling y’all my thoughts feelings and opinions about this here Brass Armadillo Antique Mall Des Moines. Johnny here has been around this here dillo before, and even at a separate location, and let me tell you. They know how to sort the store, fantastic setup with Antiques for everyone and thing. Smiles are always nice walking in, and Johnny here loves smiling back.
Overall this here BAAM gets a couple good finds out of a couple hours.
It's an interesting place. I don't go to Des Moines much. I was able to get some items that I wanted. The prices were kind of all over the place. The aisles were kind of confusing. I enjoyed it overall and it's something that would probably be on my list when I would go back to Des Moines
I've been shopping here since they opened in the 90's. Omaha & Kansas City are decent. Lots of vendors under one roof & bargains are to be found along with those "pieces" to something your putting together or completing a set.
A great place to find a lot of good stuff. My wife and I have found many things there that we cherish. It's very big and have a lot to look at. Always enough parking and friendly staff
This, for the most part, is a really great place. Only complaints are prices seem just made up with some of the venders. Certain toys/figures(some which can still be bought at retail at such places as Walmart and Target, which are everywhere...), games(old doesn't mean rare), and comics(eBay is not a price guide) are WAY overpriced. There are some good finds though, if you are willing to look, I do like to visit everytime I'm in town. Just tired of seeing some of the same things because the dealer can't face reality that whenever or wherever they saw these prices, they just aren't close.
Great selection of many different kinds of antiques. Pricing varies a lot by consignee with many promoting discounts. This place is huge so allow plenty of time.
As a vinly collector I absolutely love this place. There are prices in all ranges and often have good luck finding rare collectibles. Highly recommend
Aside from being hard to get into the parking lot because you gotta go around the back, it's a great shop!! Everything was a decent price considering each vendor marks their own. There is so much to see it would take a week to get through but that makes it better for next time! Seeing that people love antiques still makes me excited! The staff were friendly also which is always great!
If you like antiques, and antique-ing this place should be on your list. The layout was great, clean and well organized. Prices varied mostly reasonable. Spent just over two hours and pretty sure I didn't see it all. The only bad thing for me..... this place is 6+ hours away! Finding this gem was a great part of my visit to IA
Such a neat place to spend hours wandering! You can find some really unique and vintage items at decent prices.
Very large antique mall. It is organized well. Lots of interesting things throughout the entire store.
Probably the best place around Des Moines area to spend time and looking for vintage things. We go there monthly and I got several furnitures, oil paintings and collections there. Compare with other smaller antique stores, this place is way bigger and have plenty vendors there. Well organized, bright and tidy. Vendors there also update new items frequently. Staffs there are friendly and help with moving things.
Wish they can start offering shipping service for customer who wants get furnitures but only has compact car.
Very organized and just so massive! There was more modern and handmade items than I prefer but lots of great antiques too. Staff are around to help and answer questions.
I love it so much more stuff compare tu Denver store !! Great organization great price !! But I wish the silver necklace were more shipper like other antic store !! I brought some rings for five dollars each good deal !!
A variety of vendors, huge space, & staff are friendly. However a lot of the booths aren't really offering antiques & many of them are cramped & disorganized. You need a lot of time to pick through everything to find the truly great items. But, it can be a good adventure
There is a lot of stuff to look at. You can spend hours in there. The person greats you at the door and explains the layout, which helped.
Turns out my favorite antique store isn't in NJ!! Aisles of great stuff to look at and buy. Friendly customer service. Definitely a must see!
I really enjoyed The Brass Armadillo, tons of antiques and vintage items as well as novel gifts and decor. No flea market vibe.
You could absolutely spend all day here, and not see everything! It’s wonderful, and the staff is very friendly.
We have passed this place a couple of times taking our daughter to college and finally had a chance to stop, and stop we did. By the time we came out, we should have been pulling up to our home. (3 hours) It was well worth the time spent. The Brass Armadillo is a very clean and organized place. We purchased jewelry, clothing, a beautiful decanter and other items that we just couldn't go without. For anyone that visits, do not worry about the money you going to spend, you'll make more money. Think about how bad you'll feel, if you don't get, what you wish you would've purchased. My uncle told me, "you don't go out of town on vacations or what have you, to save money, you save money so that you CAN go out out town and on vacations." Of course we didn't buy everything we wanted to buy, that was because of a space issue we were dealing with, bringing our daughter home from college. But we bought more than we expected too, and that's because they have great items for sale. We will be back.
Love this store. It is a bit of a drive for us, but getting up there once a year is still awesome
Always love coming here. I found so many great deals on things that I now love in my apartment. I got this painting there (I repainted the frame and fixed the hook on the back) but it was only $20 for a 25x20 painting. Always have lots of options and is always fun to shop in
It's always fun to browse myriad old, overpriced junk and you will probably find something you just can't leave without.
Amazing place to go shopping for antiques. Everyone is friendly and really like that the aisles are labeled by states.
Real love this place, every time when it drives through town I would like to visit that place and browse around. Great varieties of antiques and different vintage items.
Amazing way to spend a Sunday! We went in search of doorsteps! We ended up finding 3 heavy cats sandcast/iron that perfectly suited our needs.
Spent a few hours here. Ran out if room 8n the car.
Staff are friendly and responsive. Great selection of items. Lots of Pokémon.
What a great place! Didn't take photos of the inside out if respect for the vendors. Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon Looking at antique consignment goods. They have a little bit of everything.
Awesome selection. Great service. Clean well lite. Enjoyable experience
Can’t stress how much I love this store. Beyond packed with amazing merchandise. If you can stop at one place in Iowa it needs to be here!
Had a great time wondering through here with daughter. Very BIG, bright, clean, friendly staff, prices were okay.
Lots to see. All different types and styles. Employees very helpful.
Absolutely amazing place! So many different finds! Something for everyone and can’t wait to come back again!
Absolutely a wonderful shopping experience I really enjoyed myself. I found some hard to find items.
This location had a lot of recent collectables, especially in action figures and dolls. The Omaha location had more vintage and antique items.
Great deals, large selection. It's really fun to walk the aisles and see all the different kinds of items for sale. Inventory changes frequently.
I love that place I went a few days ago I will have to come back I could almost spend all day there
Great antique mall. Has a lot to look at!
Great place lots of nice items bought a few myself
I enjoying spending time here, it's almost therapeutic looking through items that were found in my childhood home as a child of the mid-70's / early 80's. My only complaint and this isn't the Brass Armadillo's fault, the sellers that sell vinyl records, are you high? Albums that I can buy off Discogs or eBay for a few dollars are priced insanely high. If I do find something that interests me I typically open up eBay and make a bid while still in the store.
Something for everyone!!! So much fun to just meander and see all the amazing collections!
Huge and always open. Even if you don't buy anything you'll enjoy the walk.
This place is to die for! I was in antique/vintage heaven! Well organized with very professional, friendly staff! It is possible to spend hours here. So much range and quality in one location. Wish we lived closer.
You are guaranteed to find something special here! This is the largest antique store I've ever been, clean and easy to navigate.
Always quirky. Wear walking shoes and plan to not see everything in one trip with how big it is!
Great quality antiques and collectibles mall in DesMoines, something for everyone, great place to stretch your legs and look for something fun or beautiful to add to your collection after a long drive or anytime really. We always find lots of treasures at reasonable prices, definitely worth the stop! Always clean, friendly service. We always look forward to this mall when traveling to or through DesMoines.
This is a great store. We decided to come visit for a day trip. We go to the one in our area a lot. We intend on going to all the locations.
Great place to shop for unique treasures. From antiques to crafty vendors, this place has it all.
Good number of vendors, wide selection and convenient hours
Always 10/10 give yourself a few hours to dig through
Huge antique mall featuring lots of individual collections from multiple different dealers, neatly divided and accessible.
Coins, jewelry, toys, knives, silver, glassware, sports memorabilia, collectibles of all sorts, literally just anything antique or vintage.
Basically 100 antique shops in one neat store. You won't be disappointed.
Wonderful selection. Spent a couple of hours browsing. The reason for only 3 stars is that they remove the tags at checkout so you completely lose the history/vintage/price of each item. Now I can't tell which quilt came from which Era. Why bother to put the info on the tag just to remove it??? Has left a negative impression on me. If keeping the tag is such a big deal put two on so one stays with the item and the store can the other one.
There are some interesting things here, however the aisles are very small and there’s always a crowd. A lot of time is spent sidestepping other customers and products that have been set in the aisle for display
I always find something I want there ,everyone should go
Had some really good items. Prices were about average not over priced but not a steal.
Great customer service. Walked in and was immediately greeted. Asked if it was our first visit, it was so they provided and map and directions for navigating the store including where restrooms were. Wonderful assistance our entire time in the store and even as we left. Very friendly always ready to answer questions.
I LOVE this place! There's so many things to see you could be in here all day. The staff is friendly and alot of items are unique. I try to stop here everytime I'm nearby!
I love shopping here!! I bought a yellow mid century laundry basket and a very sweet woman helped me carry it to my car!!
Nice, spacious, orderly place. Full of great finds. Flea market on steroids.
"Take every antique store within 100 miles and put it in one place" is basically the motto of this store. 12 hours is not enough to see everything! Lots of newer and antique items from 400+ vendors. Great place to find unique items. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Definitely a must-do when in DSM, but don't bring the kids (they'll be whining after the 2nd hour).
Big is all I have to say so much stuff kind of overwhelming. Very well put together. I was really happy they had a vending machine with a place to sit
Awesome Place! Conservatively reserve 1 -3 hours to casually look at everything thats in there. Helpful friendly staff. 3rd time here
I had a great time at Brass Armadillo! while I was there I won a door prize and got a $25 gift card for free. Definitely worth a visit.
I love this place. You can go every day and see something different because there's so much your eyes can't process it all at once.
Was a great variety. Spent over 4 hours. Quite entertaining.
Great place to shop when you check out ask if any vendors are offering discounts
A lot of great items, well priced, good environment, and very cool finds.
So many awesome finds and knowledgeable friendly staff!
What a fun and interesting place to spend a few hours! My head was on a swivel the entire time and I loved every second. So much to explore! Scored some great buys too! Will definitely be back!!
Loved it. One of the hosts that was working with us was very friendly, and gave us a bunch of dog treats to take on our trip. This is a dog-friendly establishment, even has little doggy strollers for small dogs.
Brass armadillo is always just a great place to spend a hour or more. Clean organized and we often find something evey time. Would recommend in any city they are at
The Brass Armadillo is probably the antiques and collectible hunters' paradise. We went out of curiosity but left with our own treasures. The place is huge with lots of vendors and lots to choose from. Be careful turning around. It is easy to bump displays. The only available floor space is where your feet happen to be. However, I did not see any "big ticket" items like antique brass beds or player pianos.
What we found most impressive was how neat, clean and well lit The Brass Armadillo is. It is completely lacking that dusty, musty antique smell.
And did I mention there's free coffee.
Huge collection of...everything. furniture, collectibles, whatever you're looking for. The staff was attentive without being intrusive.
Lots of dealers with nice antiques. Might be a little pricy. They have a break area where you can get soda and relax your feet.
Wow, there is a lot of stuff here! Staff was great to talk too. Good buys.
There are tons of different things to look at. It's always fun to go down all the different isles to see what's there.
Has certainly gone down hill recently. Feels less like an antique store and more like a flea market. Good place to look for records, but there is a lot of junk to look through before you find anything cool
Always find amazing items and they have friendly staff. Having to get cases unlocked is annoying. One of my favorite shops! Keep up the good work!
It's so fun to shop here. Always brings back great memories
This place is so fun! You could spend the whole day here! Definitely a must if you are shopping in the Des Moines area
Love this place! Great space to find hidden gems!
Wow! Great place and great people. Glad our cars navigation system could direct us in to their location. Could be hard to figure out how to get into but well worth the effort.
A great place for people to go shopping for antiques. The store is clean, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is calm. You can always find new things here.
Very friendly staff. Many quality booths full of antiques.
So much to look at! Everyone was friendly and helpful!
Omg great experience. Was thier for hours. Great finds and afordable
Great store..very clean and tremendously helpful staff. Thank you.
Place is huge with a wide variety of antiques ans newer items. Worth a stop too look around and see what you might can find, neve know might find a million dollar item.
Place has so much stuff you can come every day and still not see everything. Has a lot and pretty close to something for everyone
Very clean, organized, eye appealing, and helpful service. Bought an amazing trunk at a reasonable price
Brass Armadillo is my go-to for great vintage finds. The booths are organized, easily accessible, and I always find something that I want to take home. While the majority of the staff are super friendly, the older lady with short gray hair who normally works checkout on Saturdays needs an attitude adjustment. Unfortunately, I seem get her every time I need to checkout and no matter how polite I am she still manages to be rude.
I stopped by Brass Armadillo the last weekend in October, and she checked me out. Once my transaction was completed, I stood aside to wait for my items (they were being wrapped). As one of the other employees handed me the items I purchased, they complimented one of them. I told the employee, “Thank you! I thought they were so cute.” The rude employee rolled her eyes and whispered something in her coworker’s ear, they giggled then looked over at me. It all seemed very high school. This is just one of a few unpleasant encounters I’ve had with her.
Not sure what’s going on, but I’ll let 100 people go ahead of me in line just so I won’t have to deal with her anymore.
Great place to look for those pieces you don't have. Staff is helpful & courteous.
Absolutely one of the best antique malls my wife has ever visited. Unfortunately, it came with a price! She bought sooo much stuff. You could spend hours in here just looking or, find some lost treasure that you've been looking for. My wife found a doll from her childhood that we've been searching for for over 30 years!
LOVE THIS PLACE. Can easily spend hours in here! So much fun taking a trip down memory lane. Lots of laughs when you go with friends and family.
Can't wait until I can get back there. Smiled alot looking at all the memories from childhood. The place is huge, plan on several hours browsing
This place has an assortment of things for everybody! You’re bound to find some thing your phone that with! It’s a place that’ll need more than just a day to walk around but there are lots of things!
Hands down my favorite store ever. You can spend so many hours in here and so much money. After awhile my eyes and head hurt from looking at so much stuff.
Excellent shopping! Tons to see in every category of antiques and collectables! We definitely enjoyed ourselves and filled our car with great buys. Plenty of parking, snacks for a break and nice restrooms. Employees were very helpful and friendly!
This is one of the best places in Des Moines to visit whether you are in the market for antiques, furniture, glassware, coin collection, or just about anything else. The employees are very friendly and go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for. Even if you dont find what you are looking for, it's worth going just for the walk through.
This is a great place to spend an afternoon in. It is so much fun walking through the aisles and looking at all the history. Some vendors have newer things, some make their own products, and a lot are antiques and vintage pieces. My mother recently scored an incredible deal on an amish-made kitchen table set that would've been a couple thousand brand new. My favorite part coming here is seeing the beautiful furniture and how well it's been cared for over the many years of its existence. You'll find just about anything you're looking for if you're an eclectic collector, such as myself, may take a few trips but each time I go there's always something different.
Great place to walk around and talk about and enjoy history
Fun place to visit. It's like an indoor flea market.
Very good place to shop. Bought some great treasures!
Lots and lots to look at and something for everyone! A very fun place to stop! They also have a great system for keeping track of your items that you are considering but not sure of yet because it’s so big, you might forget where they were at!
Loved this place! We stopped by for a "quick look" and ended up spending several hours there and even coming back later in the day. The staff was super helpful. Prices vary by vendor, but we ended up finding some great deals and bringing some new treasures home.
Had fun and found 3 things to buy. All were at great prices. In this heat it was very cool inside. All employees are so helpful.
We had a Great Time!! Found a Bunch!!
Never had a bad customer service interaction in this place. People there are always willing to help. Aisles are a little cramped, so those with a phobia beware. Sellers, while usually a little high priced, always have stuff laid out in a manner you can see all at a glance. Which is good because the place is huge. They have a snack area and a place for coffee!
This is one of THE best antique malls...very organized and clean...LOTS of antiques...huge inventory...friendly staff...a must see.
Every time I get to town with an extra hour to spend, this is where I go... Amazing variety of inventory and usually something for everyone.
One of the best Antique and consignment stores in Iowa
I totally love this store! There is always something new and unique to find and the prices are usually always very reasonable. The staff is also always very kind and helpful. I highly recommend this Antique Mall as a must stop shopping experience. Give yourself some extra time though because it's huge😉 …
Tremendous! I'll be back when I have more time to see everything! Super friendly staff as well. Definitely worth checking out!
Went there twice while visiting my Daughter's family. And just down the road from our air b and b
Wonderful antique mall. Tons and tons of antiques, souvenirs, collector items and pretty much everything in between. Great place to spend hours walking and shopping.
If you like antique malls, this is a nice one, right off the interstate. Always find some treasure
Great antiques at reasonable prices.
My husband's favorite place to go for antiques and collectibles. Located in a large building there is something for everyone.
I like this place as I can choose what I want to pick. Pricier than the grocery store but ever so much fresher!
Love the antiques in this mall.
They have a wide range of collectables. Lots to see. I have purchased some nice things here.
Endless isles of antiques and cool finds. Staff always friendly. Just best to leave kids at home. Always a good shopping experience.
This place is amazing!!! Can't wait to get back.
I love this place because it has all kinds of different antiques you can look at because people donate stuff to this place and you can buy stuff there
A great place to stop off on a road trip. So many booths, so much variety, and many good deals to be found. The staff are also quite helpful offering guidance, a map, and helpful first time advice for making the most of your visit.
Wonderful and giant! So many great antiques to look at. Majority of items priced well. My family and I walked out with quite a few items for Christmas presents! Unfortunately, we live in Forest City, IA so it's quite a drive. But whenever we are back in the area I know we will visit again!
Awesome if u like antiques but if u want a job there. they are very picky
Nice store, location is a little tricky, but worth seeking out. Lots to see across many different types of collectibles.
An incredible large and unique store of collectables and old items. An antique store to the finest point, with helpful employees and wonderful items. The prices for most things are very reasonable, and I can only assume the stock is constantly changing, so I look forward to going again!
Very huge. I was there around five hours and still haven't gone through absolutely everything. I ended up getting more that I anticipated, but I'm happy about that. They had awesome stuff. Keep up the good work!
Overall well organized knowledgeable staff They could use more break break areas since since the area is area is so large
(EXCELLENT) Food, service and great atmosphere.
Man am I glad I got correct spelling.
But no foo Foo grate place 2 eat.
Scooter said that.
I never leave here empty handed! They have collectibles, antiques, things for men and women. I HAVE to go through every aisle but never make it so have to go back again! (and again!) Right now I bought a lot of Christmas gifts for family members. It's easy to find something for everyone if you're willing to look.
Large clean store with countless individual stalls filled with items that are easy to browse. Helpful, friendly staff, large parking lot and conveniently located off I-80. Must see for antique shoppers.
My parents and I like to stop by this place occasionally after grocery shopping. Large store area feels welcoming and prices are decent. I am doing collection and can always find something interesting there. The only thing you wanna be careful is the store does not accept return. Not a real complain anyway.
Enjoy looking at all the different things they have and always something new. Great friendly staff makes it a pleasure to visit.
Lots of stuff to buy here if you are a collector. If you are an Ebayer or a reseller don't waste your time. Nice big store. Clean and well laid out.
Good stuff just not my style of antique store . Got dizzy going up and down the isle .
Large mall, nice layout, clean. Not used to having an item we asked to have held for us immediately added to invoice without a final approval. Items are rung up and presented with final bill when checking out without final viewing of items. Checker seemed perturbed that we asked to see our items and that she had to move the items from shelf to counter for our viewing, then move back to wrapping area. Second time we've been in this store recently where we felt the check out personnel were not overly friendly. Prefer store in Omaha.
This place is awesome When I was there someone wasent wearing a mask so I flew into a panic but it's weird I didn't die none of my family members died either ! Weird. Have we been living a lie? 😆 …
Great place to look at things from all different times. You'll find something for everyone, reasonable prices, and the vendors usually have discounts. The only thing missing is a cafe. Enjoy it every time.
The locked cases have some really good stuff. Very pretty pieces of jewelry. Lots of America memorabilia. Huge place. You need half a day to go through every aisle
The people are really friendly and I don't think I have ever left empty handed. Prices are fair. You do just have to watch as some vendors have had some non antique/vintage items in their collections.
This place is huge! Clean, organized and tons of stuff to look through. Prices vary depending on the vendor but most of it is reasonable. Always fun to stop in and take a look around.
Awesome found some special things to buy.
Compared to the store in Denver, it was missing an actual lunch counter that provides refreshments other than drinks and candy from a machine. Size-wise it appeared larger and much neater. We were excited when we found it in our search for antique stores and flea markets. (We had come to town to visit West End Salvage.) We had fun going through the booths and of course left with some neat finds. However, my disappointment came when I reviewed the receipt to see the staff had failed to give us discounts posted in a couple of the booths we made purchases in. We were well on our way west on 80 before I took the time to review the receipt, so there was no way we were turning back. Anyone shopping there should be aware of this problem, and make sure to check your receipt thoroughly before leaving the store. Normally that is the first thing I do, but my common sense failed me that day.
Love all these malls been to 3 of them and never leave without a good arm full of stuff!
It is a fun place to stroll through & look through the glass cases of childhood memories & find fun treasures to take home that you can't find anywhere else. Inventory changes a lot from week to week so you never know what you find there when your looking around. Love going there to see what's new.
One of the nicest antique stores I've ever been to. Very clean. You are given a map with the isles named on which you can write the number of a cabinet you are interested in. My only complaint is that the staff wasn't willing to call a vendor to work out a deal. They just said no and took the items away.
Place is MASSIVE! I collect the Pillsbury Doughboy and I found a ton of them (mostly overpriced, although I did find and buy a few that were priced right) I'm sure whatever you collect is available from at least one vendor here. Found lots of nostalgic items that my mom or grandma had. Employees were helpful and kind, good music playing and they have vending machines for drinks and snacks-which was great since we were there for over 2 hours and got thirsty!
A great mall because it is quite large. It is located in a former bowling alley a couple miles west of the Wichita airport. One does have to take care because there are different levels and some sloping areas in the floor. If you can't find what you are looking for, it might be because you didn't have time to look hard enough. The employees are delighted to help you locate what you want.
Huge. HUGE. Prices seem a bit wild for some items but mostly fair. Come here before going to a big box do decorate your home.
Best sports memorabilia you will ever find in the entire nation. With 6 locations in the USA Brass Armadillo is your best antique and history preservation retail outlet maybe in the whole world. As I browsed through I was happy that historical items are well taken care of , organized and priced good. In the day in age when history seems to be under scrutiny this store concept is importantly positioned. I focused on sports memorabilia on my visit , found wonderful Iowa Hawkeye jerseys , Iowa State jerseys , NFL Jerseys , historical Boxing photos , Historical Golf memorabilia, all preserved and well taken care of. If you are into sports decorations for your home decor recreation rooms you will be in heaven here ! Baseball items are plenty , Sports gear like baseball mitts, golf clubs are worth buying here rather than big box stores!
Great finds, what a fun place to visit
Decided to stop in a couple hours before close and i had to go back the next day! Far too much to look at in a couple hours. You could easily spend 4-5 hours here if your into antiques, retro, distressed and repurposed furniture. I know for a fact i spent at least 6 hours and i found my self still walking back through finding things i hadnt seen the first couple times i had looked. They do have a break area with vending machines and a nice seating area with tv. So if you do need a short rest in between finding your treasures your good to go. I will be back its by far the best antique store in town.
Sooo cool. Went there about a month ago to just browse, and ended up buying tons of things! Employees were polite, and everything was neat and organized. One of the best antique stores around!
Large space with booths and displays full.
Lots of antiques. Huge store. I really enjoyed the vintage Mickey Mouse stuff. There are way more aisles than you would think, and you can find some great treasures. Watch out for the junk and new/more recent stuff. You will need at least an hour to go through this place.
A nice, big antique mall with a wide variety of items. Prices run average to high, but there is a lot to look at, and plenty of time to do it. There is usually help readily available if you need it. They have nice, clean public restrooms and an area to sit and relax if you like. I have spotted a few repop items that were not marked as such. There is more "craft" than I like to see in an "antique" store, but not much overall.
They have storewide sales occasionally.
I've always loved Brass Armadillo since I was a teenager. Its HUGE! Everything is in an organized order, but every sellers booth can contain different things; so you won't find all the books....toys...furniture...collectibles....all in one spot, because there are sellers that have their own space to sell what they own. Buts SUPER FUN to browse, see all the old stuff, or even newer things! I love keys, myself so I go there to find skeleton keys :) If you've got a specific hobby, or collection, this is the place for you!! ♡
Always a great place to shop for antiques. New unusual items every day. Several sales throughout the year. Join the reward program and get money to spend on more stuff. Best antique shop around.
Dope place to find lots of cool antiques. My only issue is no one wears masks and it is too close quarters to allow for that. Will probably wait to go back when either a mask mandate is in place or a vaccine.
It was great, the way you're treated and the way the people that work there,so helpful, thay loaded up the truck with everything my wife bought...fine people
Only giving 3 stars due to rude staff and ridiculous prices. I enjoy coming here to browse but the staff and prices basically make it a worthless trip. You'll mostly see the same type of items over and over; vendors charge 5x actual item worth. And by chance that you find something you want to look at, staff do not want to open the glass for you and even stated out loud that they "don't have time to stand there" while you browse.
Mega mall of antiques. Always a fun time
Huge warehouse full of antiques and cool things.
Great antique mall! We were there for a couple hours and didn't even see everything! You could easily spend half a day there!
If you are looking for Unique antiques this is the place to go. The way this business has set up to help small sellers is excellent
Cool place, a little bit of everything. Decent prices in most booths. Great old and new toy booths! Reminds me of the Peru antique mall in Peru, Illinois. I'll definitely drop by again next time I'm in town.
Whoa Nelly....this place is huge! Lots of venders with lots of selections. We were super pleased with the prices and came away with a car load of goodies. Totally worth the stop if you’re in the area!
Love these antique malls. Outstanding collections that you're sure to find a few treasures in.
It's huge. There is no possible way to see all the goods this store has to offer in one day. It's a must visit for anyone who likes antiquing.
Me and my GF favorite place. Always fun to visit.
Love these type of shops, spend 2 hrs. Looking around but spend less than $50 on something you've looked for for years
Its a huge antique mall with hundreds of different vendors. Prices and selection thus will vary. The store is spacious and well kept. Staff are usually nice. A lot of the vendors have similar stuff though, and it doesn't seem to change that often.
Lots of really cool stuff! Huge antique mall! Could (and did) spend hours here! :) Employees were very friendly as well and the place is very clean.
Great place and prices. Very organized and easy to walk around. People were very helpful.
Id like to give 4 to 5 stars but the prices are alot higher at this establishment than your competitors. I did ask an associate if you barter and can make an offer to the vendor and she looked at me like I was crazy. I buy and sell all the time but there's not alot to work with on resell buying from you business. I will of course try again Sunday to talk to another associate to really get the idea of sales for the business so I can also be a vendor but need to count on floor associates being kind and ready with answers .Repeat customers are the best for this type of business always want them coming back.
So much stuff, but very well laid out and organized. Staff very attentive
This place has got a lot of antiques and it's a great place to go and look around
My wife loves this place. Good customer service
Huge, fascinating place, but the antique-mall format that seems to be becoming more prevalent also makes haggling difficult-to-impossible, and the huge price ranges and often poorly-researched prices on what I am looking for (vintage fountain pens & mechanical pencils, inkwells, desk sets, etc) makes me pass up a lot of items because they are WAY overpriced, ESPECIALLY if the pens/pencils are not restored/functional (as fountain pens in particular often are).
TIP 1: If the pen or pencil does not function, it’s not worth more than $5-10 because I will need to spend $25-50 or more to restore it (or send it to be restored to an expert if it’s an unusual or complex repair.). So pen/pencil collectors end up skipping most of the pens & pencils at antique malls because they can buy functional & restored ones online for the same or less money. The inflated prices seem to be getting worse over time, too.
TIP 2: Do not just look up prices for your items on eBay or other online sites. The prices there vary by if they are restored or not, the rarity of the piece, and of course the auction bidding format inflates them.
TIP 3: put your contact info visibly in your rack or display and make haggling allowable or allow us/the mall staff to call & haggle.
TIP 4: Find a local pen club to help you learn how to price your pens and other vintage writing tools. The local one in Des Moines is IowaPen.
TIP 5: if you can’t clearly explain WHY a vintage pen/pencil etc is worth more than $5-15...it isn’t. Is it rare? Restored? Limited edition? Gold or silver (or plated). Know the answer before you price, or price it low otherwise collectors will pass you by. Books and web sites are available on this topic.
To sum up: Fun place to visit but I usually end up disappointed and leave a lot of writing stuff un-purchased because it is way overpriced. But there is so MUCH I usually find some reasonable buys too. This is a general problem with many antique malls though.
One of the largest and best a antique stores you can find in the Midwest
This is a nice, and large, antique mall. The aisles are labeled as streets and avenues and the individual booth are well numbered. Shopping baskets and carts are available. While challenging to get to from I-35/80, your persistence is rewarded.
Wonderful people...they were very accommodating to me while my wife shopped
Fun place to visit! Took us 4 hours to get through the whole place.
This place is worth a visit if you like vintage stuff. For items that I actually know what they are worth the prices tend to vary from fair to very over priced. You will probably find it difficult to score a steal of a deal here because the sellers tend to know what their items are worth. It is still worth the trip. At the very least this place is like a free museum in many ways.
Friendly staff, lots of merchandise, some booths have better prices than others. Large place so you can be there for several hours. Check out their website, sometimes they do 15% off everything in there.
Love the quality of the antiques, the friendly staff, space in the isle.
Lots of various styles and era's
Nice big place with a well organized flea market feel. Was fairly easy to moved around with the store full of all kinds of things from all different time periods and styles. Will go back again.
Wonderful selection by a wide variety of vendors and prices.
Good variety of antiques but seem to also be getting a lot of crafts. Good music for once.
We had some things in mind we were looking for and found them, and at good prices too
Love love. Everything and the kitchen sink. I found an old flour sack quilt of my dreams. My husband even enjoyed this store. Wish it was closer to home.... I would be there a lot
Love this place always somthing new to look at.
Pretty cool with lots of variety. If you need something old, repurposed, or some local art this is the place to go. Be prepared to spend a few hours if you want to look at everything.
It is so fun to shop there. My husband says 4 7/8 stars. Ha! So he even likes shopping there. So much variety. It's awesome!
Very VERY big. Plan on spending HOURS here! Really cool stuff, large variety, staff was nice, and good music playing. And even a "tired husband lounging area", so to speak.
Super huge great service and great product and prices
The Brass Armadillo is just fun to walk around. There is a little something for everyone from collectibles to jewelry to magazines to sports stuff to furniture...the list is endless. You can literally spend hours in this place. It even has a little cafe that is often open in case you need sustenance in order to continue your treasure hunting.
Large vendor mall with long hours. Helpful friendly staff. Good variety of items in range of prices.
Great place to find knick knacks. Be wary if you open a booth.
Great place to find treasures!
I’m new to the area & this was my first visit to Brass Armadillo. What a beautiful store! Clean, super organized, unique shopping carts, & friendly staff! We’ll definitely be back!!
The very best place EVER to shop for antiques and collectibles! It's open from 9 to 9pm. 38,000 square ft. We couldn't possibly see it all in one day.
Cute store!
Tons of antiques and vintage items to look at!!
Love this place disappoint that on the 4th was not giving tickets out to everyone and drawing each hour new owner listen to the post and customers
We spent 2 and a half hours looking at a wide variety of cool merchandise!
Love it, little bit of everything.
Awesome place. Had a great time with my husband.
They offer a great variety of antiques and other interesting items.
Be prepared to be there for a long time. They have so much stuff it is insane. The one thing that I didn't like is that everything is curated so much there really isn't any chance that you make a "great find" which i like at other antique shops.
This was my first visit to the Brass Armadillo and I really enjoyed it! There are many different vendors/booth areas that sell a variety of antiques and collectables. From records, coins, furniture, Mason jars to vintage kitchen utensils, jewelery, toys & war memorabilia.
A large selection of interesting antiques and collectibles. It's a definite stop any time we're in the area.
Clean and tidy, staff is very helpful. Some booths are cluttered. Sitting area if you get tired and the rest of your group wants to continue shopping.
Great place! From omaha but had to check this one out while in town. Lots of great stuff!
Very well layed out place. If you know what are you looking for associates will point you to the right place. A lot to see, large number of vendors. I was looking for some old records (vinyl). Selection was not the best and what is decent it is overpriced.
Tons of stuff to look at! You will be there for hours looking thru items ! A+
Friendly service lots of variety. Wish aisles were a little wider.
Lots to look at, lots of vintage pieces, clean and very nice people that wor there.
I had not been here in many years and I was amazed with the quality of items available and the layout.
Fantastic place. My wife really enjoyed it and found some great items.
They now have bars on the front door and windows, it made me feel like they don't think they are safe or something has happened. I also noticed several booths empty or so crammed you couldn't even see what was there. Not how I remember it.
Interesting place...people rent spaces to sell their antiquities... Some is just old junk
Very helpful.Love walking thru this store.
Wanted to go there but no room to park our RV.
Huge place. Takes a couple of hours to see it all. Always a treat to find a Brass Armadillo. Always helpful and friendly.
Hours of fun!! My only issue was it smelled like cigarettes in the building, and that I bought to many Barbies ect. and had to have them shipped home 😂🤣 …
Too. Much. Good. Stuff! Not. Enough. Money. To. Spend.
Didn't find much. Prefer the Omaha location.
Great service when you need to ask a question or have a case opened.
A very clean and well kept place.
This place is HUGE! We have found ourselves shopping for over 3 hours on a typical visit to the Brass Armadillo. Always leave with new treasures.
Great selection and prices!
They have so much to see here, you could actually spend hours here and still not see everything.
Great selection of antiques and collectibles!
Nice place but very high priced on items.
Wow! This place is amazing! So many interesting booths! Plenty of parking.
Huge selection. Great service from staff, they offer maps at the front door because of the mass size of the place. Out of all the antique places in Iowa, this is #1. Trust me.
Very large antique mall. They have so much stuff that it could take you hours to go through it all. It is very clean inside.
We have one in Colorado, and we finally got to stop in while going to an ISU game! great set up, go get lost in memories!
Every Brass Armadillo I have been I find goodies for my home, studio, and crafts I make to sell. Most prices are good. The customer service is always commendable.
They're all similar mixes of some antiques cast amongst some new decorator items, some junk and new collectibles. Wish they were a little more truly an antique Mall
Brass Armadillo has aisles upon aisles of consignment items. From collectable figurines (comics, Star Trek/Star Wars, memorabilia, vintage ISU/Iowa gear, etc) to amish furniture, this place has it all. Best part, they are open from 9a-9pm for those individuals that need to get some late night antiquing in. If you are antiquing in DSM, stop here. Plan on a few hours minimum.
Huge place with tons of things to look at. Something for everyone there. Plan on spending a few hours there to look at everything. Even after you go through the whole thing you are sure to miss something.
Take the time to hunt for your treasures.
This place is awesome. One of the rare establishments where there really is something for everyone. No matter what your hobby/collecting preferences, you will find it here!
Is always clean and they let me bring my dog in and he loves to go there.
A ton to look at, too much sometimes for me. Sensory overload. Some of the prices are just insane, but employees are super helpful and friendly. Vendors price their own booths, so prices can vary wildly from booth to booth. It's definitely worth a look if you're into vintage items.
Nice place with a big selection of antiques
Beautiful barristers case we bought very reasonably. We like this antique mall very much!
Huge variety of antiquities from old pop cans and signs to jewelry to clothes and furniture even sports cards whatever your interest they definitely have a category for you.
Don't worry... They only let the attack armadillos loose after close. If you accidentally encounter one, throw Cheetos to them. The love Chester Cheetah and Cheetos for some unknown reason.
Really quality stuff real organized and fair prices
One of my favorite places. Great stuff.
They have some cool stuff, the prices are a little high though on somethings. Might find some good treasures still.
SUPER! GREAT! Place. Didn't
have time to see it all. We'll be
back to see the rest. Thanks.
Was on vacation with my dog and we were able to bring her in while we shopped.
Great place to find quality antiques and collectables. Prices vary a lot, as there are hundreds of different vendors selling. We stop in frequently and always find new and exciting items
Really cool place! So many things to pick but my only concern is that there are a handful of items that are HIGHLY offensive towards African Americans, natives, and Asians.
Yes, plan time to look. This is an all day visit!! So much to see!! Loved it!! Going back soon.
I love the staff! Thank you Tonie- the assistant manager, for going above and beyond to help me out.
Always find something interesting.
Great antique mall to look around and kill some time. This mall has a little bit of everything. From collectibles to antiques. Something for everyone.
If you can't find it here do you really need it?
Very interesting store! A lot bigger than it looks on the outside. Very clean and organized as well as great prices and lovely workers
Very large antique mall with huge number of booths and variety. Expect to spend 1-2 hours here at a minimum just to walk through the whole place!
Amazing venders and courteous staff
Great way to explore away about 3 hours and maybe catch a treasure or 2. Best line seen in a booth were old photos labeled 'instant ancestors'.
You won't find a better place to search for that item you are looking for. This store takes first place in all of the categories. Clean, well lit, perfectly kept restrooms, and an enormous amount of antiques!
Great selection of products full of heritage and nostalgia. Everything is organized neatly and makes browsing the aisles very fun.
Space was well laid out with great lighting. Also wonderful costomer service. We found what we wanted and more. It is worth a stop!
So many unique and not overly priced antiques. We love stopping at any of the Brass Armadillo shops
Nice stop on a long drive, sadly many items are not antique.
Great help and a great selection to choose from.
We stop at this store Everytime we get to Des Moines!
High end shopping for this stuff. Great layout.
It such a nice store and the staff are so nice and friendly.
Make sure you have at least a couple hours to devote to your Armadillo shopping trip! I always leave with a handful of quirky finds!
One of my favorite places to browse. Clean and organized with a helpful staff. If you are looking to kill some time, find a treasure or both, this is the place to be.
Check out case #267
Hippie beads, find your Zen
Love this place, has something for almost everyone. Wife and I love to get away and browse through this place when ever we can!
Love this store takes a few hours there is so much to look at if your seeking something i bet it is here the hours are great and just fun to go
Need a thing for a thing? They got a thing for that (guaranteed)
Could spend hours there. The staff is so friendly.
Found a Pepsi bottle I've been looking for for a great price
Good variety. Like anywhere else, search our the better booths. Some have newer stuff posing as old, but Good luck finding an antique Mall that is free of that.
Always fun to find a treasure there
Love walking around in there. Always find something good
Neat place to walk through
Huge, well organized, clean, mostly reasonable prices.
Always a fun adventure. Walked the entire mall. Whew! Nice seating area to relax.
Found some old Iowa Hawkeyes collectibles.
Great place love it
They have great stuff there.
This was the biggest antique mall I have ever been too. The staff is super friendly and they will hold items while you continue shopping/looking!!!
Just picked up sum vinyl, comics, and a shoe box of silverware a quarter a piece. When looked up the silver was ranging between 4 and 7 dollars a piece score. Great treasure hunting for collectibles, antiques, may be a memory of a time forgotten then you found the right place!!
So much selection and wide range of price points and lots of deals to be found. Lots of pyrex and glassware.. only negative is they need more staff and aisles are narrow.
They have something for everyone here. Plan to spend at least an hour or two--longer if you want to see everything. You never know what you'll find.
Can always get lost for hours in this place. Local treasure.
Huge collection of antiques, you can find furniture, toys, books, glasses I think everything and its really clean and organized tho
Wonderful shopping experience. Friendly and helpful. Integrated services make it easy for individuals with mobility issues to enjoy shopping here.
Fun place to shop the day away.
Great place. If you take the time to look you can find some interesting, weird, fascinating, and fun things here.
Never know what you'll find.
This is a very fun place to explore. It is very large however so you may want to consider 2 trips or plenty of time to see everything.
This place blew me away! I found 2 displays with crystaks i was not expecting to find at an antique store!
One of our favorite places to go. Lots of variety of stuff. Friendly people. Just walk leisurely through at your own pace.
I love to make this stop anytime I'm in the Des Moines area. It's always a step back in time with the different finds and though I don't always buy, it's fun just to look.
Plus, they always play some outstanding "oldies" music that makes the experience more fun!
Super fun place. Stop everytime we go through Des Moine.
We really enjoy getting lost in all the stuff....it takes us 3+ hours to browse!
So many things! Friendly staff and huge variety
First time here, they were very helpful. Had maps, had quite a selection.
Love the music. Staff very helpful and friendly great selection of products both vintage and new. Our 3rd time here and will be back
We like stopping by here when we are in the area. You never know what you will find. Great prices.
Treasures everywhere!! Explore it and rediscover your childhood and history all at once something for everyone
An incredible collection of memorabilia, Americana and artifacts of history are here for sale.
This place was great. The different vendors were awesome. Great deals and friendly staff.
Wonderful!! Lots of great finds & 15% off today!! WooHoo
Great place to visit. Doesn't matter what you are looking for because you might find it or something else that you didn't even know you "needed.
Nothing compares to the brass armadillo
Great way to spend a rainy afternoon. No matter what your age, you will find something here. It's like taking a trip to Grandma's house.
Absolutely a must do!
Found a great Pepsi bottle I've been looking for for a reasonable price also signed up for the Antique Army love this place check it out
In my opinion this is one of the better Brass Armadillos for antiques, quality of antiques is great, not much thrift store items. Always stop in when i go through town!
Some things you can get new cheaper
A plethora of anything you can think of, antiques , collectables, hand made things of all kinds.
The shear amount of stuff is staggering. From one of a kind to authentic stuff. From Star Wars to random knick knacks. Very open store. Easy to peruse.
Lots of interesting stuff, but staff can be pretty rude.
There are so many things to see. Make sure you plan to spend at least an hour here.
Great place to shop antiques. Nice that they minimize the home decor kitsch. Friendly staff.
This is my second time there, inside the building is very enormous has a lot of different antiques and rows of different assorted goods, coffee ,pop bathrooms etc..
Love this store. So many things to look at.
A lot of nice things..if you are looking for something you should be able to find it there..just plan on spending A lot of time looking at things.
One of the best places to spend a day looking through memory lane. You are sure to find something you have needed all your life.
Love this place. Memory lane! Good prices. Fun to look. Fun to buy. Quilts, tractors, cookware, jewelry. Everything.
I love this place! Wish we had one in Wisconsin!
Great shopping for all ages!
Huge inventory of antique and unique items. Highly organized displays.
Had a ball there found a lot of things we've been looking for 1 specialty items
I'd say that if you are looking for any antique, no matter how are, you will probably find it here. What a great place to browse the days gone by!
This is always a must visit when we are in the area. Picked up a nice little tow truck. There is just so much to see.
Nice items friendly staff
Many many wonderful things to look at and buy
Lots of junk, but if you are willing to hunt it's fun.
There is something for everyone! Even if you don't think you need something, you'll find something you want!
Helpful volunteers, cashiers are pleasant and always wrap purchases, clean and organized vendor areas and free coffee is always a plus.
Very clean restrooms. Booths are tidy and have lots of variety!
Extremely helpful staff.
It was amazing! They had so much stuff, and the staff was so helpful and kind.
Lots of stuff and pretty well organize. The item I was looking at were a tad over priced tho. Would give it 3.5 stars if I could.
There's always a treasure to be found. Like Frampton Comes Alive on vinyl and it doesn't look like a needles ever touched either record 5 bucks. That's a deal.
Nice large antique shop
Fun place to spend some time shopping. There was a lady walking around without a mask... hmmm
Like this place interesting stuff
I was impressed of all the goodies that where in the mall found nice goods
Great place, lots of vendors, good prices.
