My favorite place. I get the best deals on my canvas and plant pots. Never pay full price because there’s alway a sale and you can use your Michaels rewards to get additions like discounts and rewards. I love that you get a 90 days grace to return an item in case you changed your mind. The staff super helpful especially Hollywood who tremendously went out of her to help my canvas get delivered to my home safely. She always make my shopping experience at Michaels fun!!!

The individuals who work over in the framing department are incredible! I gave them a large embroidery piece I made for my best friends wedding and their framing job truly made the piece look polished and gorgeous. my friends cried when they opened it! And micheals had it finished within a week. Would absolutely use them again for framing fabric art!

My wife and I typically head out to a different craft store but we were pressed for time and went here instead. They have a great selection for what we needed and for the size of the store had a nice inventory. The staff was very helpful and was not able only to locate the items but walked us to them. I think unless we needed to be back in the Burbs we would definitely return to this location.

This Michael's is fabulously massive! It has everything! From layer cake baking pans to candle wicks and scents to make your own scented candles. The staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and there are always discounted goodies for you impulse buyers.

Good yarn selection, better than the average Michael's. Doesn't have smaller knitting needles (anything less than size 3), but that's common for Michael's. Great rewards program. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

I got super high and then went and bought pens and a coloring book here. Good times. I love Michael’s. There’s one near me in Brooklyn too, but this one was enormous. So many great crafting ideas, tons of coloring books. You name it, they have it.

The pickup service is quick and easy here. It took less than five minutes to pick up my order. The employees are helpful and friendly. On the weekends, the best time to visit is between 11am and noon to avoid the crowds. I highly recommend this Michael's location for people in the Uptown/Lakeview East area.

Service is excellent ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, BUT... the quality of the merchandise is falling dramatically and quickly... two years ago, Michael's stopped carrying NordicWare-- a high quality bakeware from Minnesota... and is now closing out it's stocks of Wilton, an Illinois-based candy and baking supplies tradition.... not only are the replacements of far inferior quality (basically what Dollar Store is selling for $1.25 (not lying, check it out 🤦‍♂️)), but Michaels is no longer supporting these established, historic Midwestern companies... forcing very long-established and loyal customers like myself to finally realize I will have to figure out how to shop Amazon in order to support Midwestern jobs AND find dependable quality. 😳😔😪 Even Chester is confused (see doggy photo 😁🦮)

While the website says something is in stock, it's better to call before going to the store. A lot of times "in-stock" means "just got delivered and is in the stockroom, inaccessible to sales assistants"

This location was somehwhat hard to get to being located on a main street with limited parking. I had to drive around the corner and then park in a lot across the street. Everything was prettt easy to find although I didn't realize some of the items were on sale while the same material different brand wasnt. Overall good experience.

A good selection at very competitive prices (especially, if you do not feel like waiting for Amazon Delivery). Was able to locate the exact yarn I needed to finish my project (as well as start some new ones). Wanted to upgrade a couple of crochet hooks - but unfortunately, the sizes I was interested in were all sold out. The associate checking me out was extremely friendly and told me about the rewards program - which I signed up for. Look for online coupons before you check out - I did and saved 20%.

My favorite store in the world... next to the Dollar Tree, of course. But whatever I can't acquire there, I go to Michael's. For frames larger than 8x10, quality paints, canvases of all sizes, endless card stickers, the list goes on. Great customer service, and with the app, you're guaranteed to find a coupon every visit. The parking lot is a little tight at the top coming in, so be careful. Especially on your way out, make sure to stay far to the right cuz you never know when the next car is coming in (steep drive) and some people don't know it's so narrow feeling at the top. Overall, always a great experience. Parking is FREE in the lot. They have hand sanitizers at the entrance, so it's nice they help us take precautions for our health. Love this place- keep up the great work!

I'm not sure if it was picked over for the season, or were simply victims of the current supply chain issues, but the store felt half empty. It was difficult finding what I needed, and even 2nd and 3rd choices were unable. There were plenty of staff there trying to restore some order, and were as helpful as possible. I'll try again after the holidays!

This particular Michaels is a little confusing to navigate, but what can you really do when you have a corner building? Categorically everything is laid out well, you just might not instinctually know where to find a product e.g. yarn goods, paper crafting, etc. The workers are friendly and quick to answer questions. Inventory is low, but this is a result of greater supply chain issues that affect countless businesses. They do what they can to keep their store looking full.

Of all the Michaels' stores I have visited over countless months, I do not regret making this location my top favorite! Great selections of anything and everything from wiring material to beading material, sewing, etc for all your DIYs'! The people here are also very nice, welcoming and definitely help you to find what you need! Great location, much better than the one near the HIP!

This is a very convenient store. It has everything you need for arts and crafts ideas to home decor. I went in for a frame for a small poster I wanted to hang. Unfortunately they were out of stock. This was an irregular size that they ordinarily would have had on stock, but were sold out. Apparently Covid has rendered possible restocking of this size undeterminable. I was disappointed, but I did manage to look around the store and got ideas for future projects and purchase. The store is well lit, the displays catch your eye, and it's a place to explore and be creative. Not that many staff on the floor so you have to go to the counter to get someone to help you. Overall a nice store at a very convenient location.

Went in for 2 items, came out with none. Selection and variety changes by season. Didn't really think ribbon was seasonal. No letter stencils the size I need. Other than that, clean, organized, one employee said hello. I'll be back, but today was a bust.

Employee (esp in cashier) is very warm. If you look for yarn, paint, canvas, decoration plant/seasonal decoration, lettering, and accessories supplies this is a great place! However, for the sewing section, they only have limited choices. They also offer a nice discount, best if you have Michaels app on your phone so you can redeem more discount :)

I didn't hate it. I found everything I needed for every project I am currently focused on. This included yarn, fabric, fabric paint, and a project coming up next month. They carry tons of merchandise at a wide range of price points. They got me st the check out. The Lindt chocolate and a Ghirardelli salted caramel for my friend. None of the two local yarn shops had cotton, not their fault, it's pretty normal for cotton to be rare. Well I 'm of to knit for a bit.🧶♥️

Love this place! You can get all your artsy gear or deco items here! The collection is massive and staff are always friendly and helpful! Absolutely bonus that they ALWAYS have items that is on sale and generally 50% off! It’s becoming an addiction coming here..

Store is a little hard to navigate due to the layout but staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Asked for help and got everything I needed. Good prices and some nice sales as well. Definitely busy on the weekends but checkout line moved quickly.

There's street and garage parking, but I'm not sure if the garage is free. The store is on the main floor so you don't have to worry about the escalator not working. The store is a tight fit and I understand that trying to put all these neat items out. They could use some more sales floor associates, as well as cashiers.

They have just about anything you need for a great craft or some new art, and I go there around twice a month to get some new materials and supplies for my artwork. They have everything I need and for a good price, and since it's currently summer, they have plenty on sale. To me, everything you get there is worth the price. And if you don't want to get craft materials (only), then you can also go shop upstairs at Marshalls or downstairs at D&W. Large selection of items and plenty to shop for.

For being in the middle of a city neighborhood, they seem to have just about the right mix of every craft supply you never knew you needed...sometimes selections aren't fully stocked (went in for black spray fabric paint, but it was only available with 2 other colors--so now I have white and gray spray fabric paint, and I'm contemplating the possibilities). Very friendly and knowledgeable staff get you through the check-out-lines without feeling hurried or delayed...and KNITTERS! THEY HAVE LOADS of YARN! I've purchased everything from photo frames to embroidery floss, right here in the middle of the neighborhood...

There is a great selection of crafting materials and jewelry making gear. There is little to no selection for sewing goods (half and isle worth of emergency things more or less). The store seems under staffed with pretty much everyone on register, which isn't so great when you're in need of help to find things. I REALLY wish they sold fabric.

Great source for all kinds of crafting supplies. I've found that Michael's has more of a selection for jewelry making supplies than other crafting stores. Especially when it come to supplies that are specifically labeled to be Nickel free. Although Michael's does not have an extensive fabric selection, they definitely make up for it with so many options in nearly every other crafting category. Don't forget to use the coupons they always have circulating!

This is the infamous location where that white girl screamingly exclaimed "I voted for Trump", walking in you see several employees at the registers and one or two in the framing area, with one employee floating or stocking. This place is impossible to find that one thing you're looking for. Practically labeled however it's hard to find that one item you need but only the one time. Employees are friendly but most are pretty clueless about crafting with a Master's in " I just work here". Don't find inspiration here, know what you want and expect to either wait a few minutes or 15, because it's either one cashier or four

The only reason why I'm giving this place 4 stars is because this isn't the best organized store - I had a hard time finding blank canvas (which I plan to buy this month for a friend of mine so she can get to painting again) as it took me around a few minutes to find the section where the canvas is in! Otherwise I love it and being there.

Nice little crafts store which is decent for hobby artists however if you're looking for something more it's a little lacking. They carry no drafting pencils of any sort and any mechanical pencils they carry are either standard mid grade stuff you find at Jewel or Walmart. Definitely they are not overtaking Blick anytime soon.

if you're an art major, MIchaels is a must visit before you go back to school. All your art and craft needs can be met here. They have every conceivable art and craft item - ribbons, stamps, paper, stickers, photo frames - you name it, they have it. The store is very well laid out despite it's large size so finding what you want is not too hard. The staff are also really friendly and knowledgeable so you can feel free to approach them with any questions. Look out for any specials, discounts and offers because they can be really attractive and make a huge difference to your shopping experience. You can get a whole lot more for less.

Not my favorite craft store but it is the closest so I continue to go back. The staff isn't always helpful. I recently had an experience where unbeknownst to me fabric stiffener leaked from the bottle through the shopping blackest down my jeans and all over my fabric shoes. When I went up front to explain what happened and that the item in my basket were also ruined they made seem like my fault. Again customer service stinks but there is free parking at the pointe and the slowest elevator on the planet.

Great for craft supplies but skip getting anything framed here. The frame sales and quick framing options are still as expensive as a neighborhood framing shop. Out of three framing jobs I've tried to bring to Michaels they refused to do two of them, and the framing customer service rep was very uptight both times. He offered no apologies.

Where the hell else can you get ALL of your crafting needs from hot glue guns to markers so huffable you'll be high for days, creating beautiful art in a fugue state. My only complaint that the lines tend to be long. They have like 15 registers but only 2 are ever open, but I get it, it's a big store, people need help finding fabric and fake leaves to make a scarecrow they can make love to, but your boss can only have x amount of people come in to work each day. It's hard.

This is a smallish store, much smaller than the one on Canal, but much more convenient for those of us on the north side. I'm mostly into yarn, and they have a reasonable selection of yarn, knitting and crochet supplies, and needlepoint kits and thread. They seem to have a nice selection of craft kits, supplies for papercrafts, organizing boxes, art pens and markers, kids' crafts, etc. I have been here and been unable to find some of the different colorways of Red Heart. If I needed a crochet hook or a set of Susan Bates needles, or some of the basic colors, I'd stop here first. For a bigger selection I'd head to the Michael's on Canal or the Joann's on Elston.

Upside: Convenient, large range of products, get what you need that day, customer service is typically very friendly and helpful. Downside: Famously wayyy over priced, not many good sales/discounts, in-store brands are trash, may find some products (like markers/pens) have been drained/dry by people testing/not recapping - store can be unorganized at times due to this (though Michael's can't be blamed for disrespectful customers) Great store for a wide range of categories for your basic art supplies and crafting materials. They carry the good stuff, but their store brands, specifically "Artists loft" is pretty garbage in my experience and still not very forgiving for your wallet. I would like to give Michael's a higher rating, but I would rather buy products online from somewhere with competitive pricing like Amazon. If Michael's caught up with the game and price matched their products and offered more discounts, I would love to shop there more. Once again, every store had friendly customer service, but lots of information now can be found online, so it doesn't make up for their pricing. I'm sure they would have less issues with those young people shoplifting as well, something they're also famous for.

This is a pretty expansive Michael's store for Northsiders. They have a pretty good selection of art supplies, home decor, and craft supplies as you'd expect. They also have a lot of seasonal decor for cheap, which we buy frequently from here. If you live close by, it's worth a stop to spruce up your apartment and get festive!

Michaels has decent prices for the majority of products. While Blick may provide a broader selection, for nearby residents who don't have time to get to the Blick on North or in Evanston, Michaels can provide a good stopgap with essentials like a few brushes or paints or a bottle of linseed oil.
