I met this guy named Randy, he was the most sweetest & helpful customer service worker I've ever had the pleasure of being around. He didn't rush me and when I told him I'd never been there and was new to painting, he took care of everything. Walked me around the place showing me what I would need now and even showed me what I could wait on to save money. I don't know if he has worked there a long time or what but he definitely knew his merch.and way around the place. He made the entire experience wonderful, not like going to hobby lobby and asking for help and getting treated like you have the plague. I will be getting all my art supplies there from now own, and hopefully Randy will be getting a raise, he definitely makes the store more special than ever it could be with out his warm smiling face!!!?

Such a great store! Went in for a gift and have no knowledge of paint supplies and they were so friendly and helped me build up a kit of items for a Christmas gift. This is our local art supply store and I wouldn't trade it for 100 Michaels or Hobby Lobbys.It has a fantastic selection of everything you need to create and make art.They are very knowledgeable about their products and processes of producing art on various mediums.Plus this a family owned business so you get the personal friendly treatment you don't always find at large chain stores.

Best art supply store around! I always find everything I need, and everything I never knew I needed. Lots of open stock drawing media, great selection of paint brushes. Paint selection is fantastic, especially oils, acrylics, and mediums. They also have bookmaking supplies and beautiful decorative papers! I was surprised by the selection of drawing papers and pads, as well as, canvases and wooden panels. It was definitely worth the trip from Athens!

There is definitely a big difference from the corporate world to small businesses and you will be able to feel it here. These guys are very helpful, came in during the last hour being open on Saturday and an employee "Randy" still spent about 30 minutes helping me and making sure I had what I needed, hard to find that one on one attention in the corporate world. This is another reason you should support small businesses and shop local.

The employees know their supplies, and are artists themselves. Good deals can be found and they have supplies of higher quality and variety than a craft store--if you want it, they probably have it. Discounts are available for students and frequent shoppers as well. Great place.

Prices are a little high but for an artist this place can not be beat. They have a yearly membership you can sign up for kinda like sam's club that reduces the cost by 40%. It's got a great selection of supplies and the employees are very friendly. They also won't look at you crazy when you ask for unusual sounding art supplies lol they're pretty smart.

Alabama Art Supply has the most extensive selection of professional level materials you'll find anywhere in Birmingham. There are staff members that have been there for years that understand the materials and tools they sell. My wife teaches workshops here, their studio spaces for classes is spacious and comfortable. Pam Truitt at Alabama Art Supply received donated monies from people in our community when my school was hit by a tornado. She kept this fund open for the two years it took for our school to be rebuilt and our children to enjoy their art room again.
