I have been coming here for years. The staff are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. For example the dog food I had fed was no longer available and the employee had a vast knowledge of the different foods and helped me choose the best new food for my dog. And Pet Zoo is a local company... and I like supporting local!

Be advised, they no longer offer bags and are out of the reusable bags. BYOB Bring your own bags lol. Great service, fantastic products, and they are locally owned. Thanks for being here for Alaskan pet owners and thank you for looking out for our beautiful state by getting rid of wasteful bags.

I usually have a good experience with this local business. However a couple weeks ago I had gone in and asked an adult woman manager for a specific pyrantel puppy dewormer for my 2 new puppies. She was condescending and rude. Gave me a dirty look up and down and told me “we don’t carry anything like that” and I asked again if they carry that specific product and she again looked at me with the snarkiest face and said “no I’ve never heard of that” I found it on the shelf with the help of a young man who is not management this week at that exact store.

Had to purchase some new dog food today that is cheaper than the hypoallergenic royal canin that I have been buying from the vet for 2 months now. 107 bucks for 25 lb bags. Yikes! Spent 65.00 bucks on a bag of Blu Dianond brand grain-free chicken flavored food. I think is was like almost 70 bucks but there were coupons on The shelf with the price tags and the food for us to take to the register for checkout.

I Always enjoy shopping here. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable about the products they sell. Only 4 stars because they didn't have the product I was looking for and the associate said she hasn't seen them in the store for a while. It was a regular round fish bowl so I thought it was weird a pet store wouldn't sell fish bowls.

Great variety of products, very knowledgeable staff with low turnover, locally owned, and never too busy. The one time they were out of stock of an item, the first person I spoke to knew why and told me which of their competitors may have it. Well behaved dogs are welcome inside. I appreciate being able to shop at Pet Zoo. Update: My son adopted 2 kittens and I haven't had cats in over 20 years. We went to Pet Zoo to stock up on supplies. We got a lot of great help and info on taking care of kittens from the staff. Also 20% off our entire purchase since he had just adopted them. Really the best pet supply store in town.

I've always had a good experience here. I appreciate that I always feel safe shopping here. They respectfully wear masks and keep physical distance while still helping me get what I need for my reptiles. Sometimes they are out of stock of what I need but if I call ahead they are good at telling me the eta of those things. A++ costumer service

I went there today and the service was excellent! I was greeted and having fish bagged right away. The employee who helped me was very knowledgeable about tank setup and happy to answer all of my questions. I appreciated that she gave me honest advice so I didn’t buy fish that would outgrow my 10 gallon tank. The prices were also better than Alaska Coral & Fish as well as Petco.

They carry healthy foods and treats. I greatly appreciate the knowledge their employees have. I would like to see better sales however. Sometimes I can beat their prices with free shipping. Pet Zoo is a better choice for pet care and products. Granted the price is a bit more tan the big name pet stores but the quality of product I feel is superior. Plus its an Alaska store and not influenced by the lower 48 if its on the sales flyer its in the stores, if you know what I mean. Folks are friendly and helpful there and usually someone there can answer questions about your pet that you are unsure of. I shop here for all my animal needs. Stop by and check them out for yourself next time your shopping for pet supplies.

This is a great local pet supply store with a great selection of items. I was happy to find Orijen grain-free food and treats here for my three dogs. The prices are fair and the rewards program is a nice incentive to earn for something you need to buy anyway. They offer a military discount and are always friendly.

I really like Petzoo, especially because it's a local company. They are also super knowledgeable about dog food and ingredients. Petzoo has supplies for all types of pets and critters. I will admit, since they are smaller then the other per big box stores,they don't have has wide of a selection for certain things, like dog clothes (hence the 4/5 stars). Even so, I try to make this my primary store for my dog's food and supplies.

Great place and knowledgeable staff. They take in animals that people don't want and the staff are almost always ready to help you. My only real complaint is that have been times when the employees haven't been very helpful or keen on helping, but I received both of my rabbits from this place (one of which was a rescue from a petting zoo). Great spot to go if you're looking to support local businesses. Their pets there always seem to be in excellent condition every time I've gone as well!

I love shopping at Pet Zoo because, one, it is a locally owned company which I am happy to support, and two, and especially, because the service cannot be beat. The entire staff is so informed on issues relating to my dog. I love my vet, but it's wonderful when Pet Zoo staff can save me vet bills by helping me diagnose a pet food allergy and suggest an over-the-counter remedy for another health problem. I appreciate the attention, the information, and the return policy. It also pays to be a 'member' and receive occasional generous coupons.

Pet zoo is a great place to go for all your pet needs. They are competitively priced and offer a very generous rewards program. Also they will babysit your fish if you want to go on vacation. They also will take them if you don't want them anymore. I personally don't go anywhere else.

Great service! I can get items for my rabbit, my cat, treats for my and odor remover candles, treats for my friend who is the handler of a National Cris Response Canine (this canine loves Mother Hubbard treats!), and car fresheners and licorice (for me)in one stop. If I have questions about rabbit care, cat care, or gifts for friends (my son wants a bearded dragon) their staff is knowledgeable and always has answers. Dogs are welcome in the store.

I didn't expect to meet someone as kind and incredibly knowledgeable and well informed as Matt. We spent almost twenty minutes talking about diet and pros and cons of all manner of dog food including raw, which I was specifically there to figure out. I've use Pet Zoo as a supplier for reptiles and aquariums although they have a much larger section for furry animals lovers. Their fish selections isn't huge but I've had better survival rates than purchasing at a chain store. They are also the most reliable place in town for live feeder mice. If you like supporting local, this is a good place to get what you need for pet care.

I wish they had more locations! But I'm happy I can buy my supplies from a local business rather than a large corporation like PetSmart (of which I am a former employee lol). I'm happy that they carry basically everything I need (except smaller bags of the food I buy). We just bought a vaccine yesterday for my dog (which I advise be administered by someone who has done it before, I asked my mother to do it) and it's much more affordable than going to a vet (though we are going to the vet today for his rabies shot).

Pet stores like Pet zoo, Pet owners and Pet Smart don't hire people that are licensed and knowledgeable of how to take care of animals, especially reptiles. Even the information flyers they have for them is completely wrong and the reptiles are usually sick or dying because of the lighting, UV and Humidity is not right and it is killing them. Most of the reptile food they have, that comes in a jar or package, even the reptiles won't eat. Sometimes even my beardie doesn't like the crickets and worms I was trying to get from these stores. I now buy my beardies bugs from a bug breeder that gut loads them before delivering to me, so my lizard gets the best in gut loaded bugs and is a thriving healthy lizard!!

This is a great store with a lot of high quality food and treats. It's not a boutique, but it's an amazing pet store with lots of options. They also have a program you can sign up for to buy x amount of dog food and get one bag free if I understood correctly. The creatures they house seem much happier than most that I run into. I enjoy that I can make this my new reliable pet store now that I've sworn off petsmart and petco. Great place!

Best place to buy food for your animals that is not garbage. Any time i need questions asked, i got all the help i needed. I had one day where one of the staff wasn't to keen on helping me out. But that is one out of at least 30 times i have gone. I prefer my cats to have a long and healthy life, so i can shrug off one bad experience knowing i am getting way better food there.

NEVER GO TO PETCO AGAIN. I love this petzoo so much. I come for the aquarium section and the staff are always very knowledgeable about fish care, which breeds should and shouldn't be together, and take such good care of their tanks. They actually CARE about their fish. I bought most my fish there who have always done well. When I had to move I was in a desperate bind unable to find anyone to sell them too, and I was going to be heartbroken if I had to give them to petco. The guys here took my fish right in. I love these guys forever.
