They care about animals. I got my gecko from Clark's..Quality products. Always have great advice for my lizard and reptiles... They actually give you proper crickets and meal worms unlike mainstream popular pet shops. Support your locals!

Love this store for all of my animal needs! The staff here is so knowledgeable and friendly. The prices are a little steep but you get what you pay for. They do tend to have better items than a big box pet store. My favorite thing about this place is that they offer an amazing dog/cat shot clinic every other week which I highly recommend. The prices for that are affordable and it is ran by a certified veterinarian.

Been twice now and this will definitely be my new local shop! They clearly care about their animals and make sure to provide as much info as they possibly can. Every employee I've interacted with was incredibly knowledge lable. We bought shrimps, golden dannios, tetras, and live plants and I'm overjoyed with how they made our tank look.

I like Clarks ! I go often for dog treats & toys plus I recently bought them a sweater for 20% off on them! Cute options! More options for smaller dogs though and mine are bigger /: I also was buying tarantulas from here for a bit but then I realized they are VERY overpriced on majority to all . Specially when it is a sling because you have NO guarantee of it being male or female and males die much faster and in general females are more expensive for that reason ... However these prices are usually priced for confirmed females or just ridiculous period. . Although I have my complaints since I am big into tarantulas.. I keep going back for other things and beside their prices being so high , everything else seems fine there. Staff is nice ! Store is always stocked with a large variety of stuff for small animals cats and dogs! I'd recommend to check it out at least ! It's great too!

I do like Clark's pet emporium I was looking for a toy for my step dad's dog.... I had a hard time finding the perfect toy and then settled on a Kong yak!!! I think it cost $10 and Jack really likes it!!! Plus Clark's is nice enough to offer a military discount which I greatly appreciate!!!

Went shopping for my bunnies and hamster. They have an awesome selection of food and toys!! All the animals here had clean enclosures and fresh clean water. No animals seemed stressed, good education on care offered, all in all the happiest pet store ever! Very impressed and we’ll definitely be going back!!

We recently got into fish keeping and we chose this after going to PetSmart and PetCo but after seeing the difference in staff and products I’m not going back. We personally were helped by Mike who seemed very knowledgeable and helpful, definitely recommend if you want a larger variety of aquatic life, plants and products, also if you want people who know what they’re talking about. Super friendly staff.

We visit mostly for aquarium needs. Shout out to Mike and everyone else in the aquatics room. Your all amazing. They take time to ensure that all your needs are met along with the needs of your aquarium. Very knowledgeable and attentive to quality customer care. Their tanks although only transitional holding for fish ready for purchase, are clean, never over populated, and well managed to help alleviate stress factors. They also offer free water checks so that you are set for success when introducing new fish to your aquarium. Great job 👍 Clark's!

It's nice to have some personal attention at a merchant and people know you when you walk in the door also. I needed some dog food for my pooch and was unable to get it delivered like I usually do. (I'm disabled, so that's how I roll, typically.) But they had a couple flats and some individual cans on the shelf, and when I called them, they got busy and collected them all together and had them waiting for me when I showed up a half hour later. If I go into a pet store at all, it is this one, rather than the big corporate places. I wrote a previous review that I was going to change but I could not find it. If another one pops up, this is the more recent experience. I'd say that if you live in Albuquerque, this is the best pet store to go to.

Usually you will find all your needs for your pets. They have lots of birds, fish, reptiles, guinea pigs, large variety of dog and cat foods along with plenty of accessories to choose from. Also they can carry at times cats for adoption. They carry cbd for your pets needs. Nice atmosphere, there staff is usually helpful. But always have found it to be a bit pricey. Also plenty of parking space.

Very nice location. They have an awesome fish/tank display area. The staff was really helpful. We got some Phoenix Rasboras and they have all survived since bringing them home a couple weeks ago.

In the middle of a roadtrip and I needed a new Fetch-It kickball. I called both Petco becasue that's the place that always has them in stock where I lived last. I randomly called the place. They had 2! I was gonna get both but figured there's probably another me that doesn't want to order and wait online AND support local. So I left it for whoever that is. They have a tone if other animal stuff too. I suggest stopping by if you're in the neighborhood just to check them out so when you need something, you know what they have. Staff was super cool too. When I called to check they said they'd hold it for me. I didn't have to ask. Suoer cool people.

I've been going to Clark's for 10+ years and usually have a positive experience. Their prices run higher than PetSmart but they have much more selection for reptiles and birds. One time I was browsing the store and didn't realize it was 5 minutes past their closing time. The staff didn't tell me and acted passive aggressive. They said it was their policy to not tell customers when the store has closed. I don't blame the staff for that awkward experience, but the policy needs to be changed. It's confusing for customers and difficult for employees.

Clark’s is a nice little change from the larger stores such as PetSmart and Petco. Recently bought a pet carrier and my daughter some fish. They have a huge variety to choose from. One of the little guys didn’t make it. Went in within the three day return and they gave us a new little fishy, no questions asked. Plenty of knowledgeable staff. Always helpful.

The most consistent place I've found for my feeder rats for my snakes. Never had any issues with any sick or unhealthy rats. Store is always clean and staff are really knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely would like a Clark's closer to Rio Rancho, but they're definitely worth the drive. I've use at least 2 other pet stores and they're not as good as Clark's. Definitely try them out!

Im new to the area, and decided to check out the smaller pet supply stores. Definitely gonna go here for all my pet needs! The employees were super nice and really helpful, and gave actual advice instead of just trying to sell me as many products as possible. Pricing was also decent! I didnt find that anything was crazy expensive. I really appreciate that they emphasize that pets are living creatures and should be given a lot of thought before purchasing. I'm super happy I found this place!

Hands down the best pet supply in Albuquerque. Knowledgeable staff are always doing their best to maintain the welfare of their animals, answer questions, and give advice. From cats and dogs to fish, birds, and reptiles, they always have someone there that can tell you how to improve your care routines and setups. Offered dog and cat food brands are all high-end, quality food. Feeder insects have the highest number of live bugs to what the label says of any other pet supply I have been to. Animals on-site are always in great condition and do not suffer from overcrowding like you will find at places like Petco and Petsmart. Prices are competitive with big box pet stores and, when asked about what they would recommend, employees will give you their honest opinion rather than whatever is newest or most expensive. This is always my first choice with any other store only on my radar if I realize I need something after Clark's is closed for the day.

I've always gone there to window shop since before I had any money. We got a couple of kittens there decades ago before pet shops stopped selling cats and dogs (they still have fish, reptiles, spiders, birds, etc.). I wish it opened prior to noon on Sundays, but in terms of prices they're actually lower than other national chains like Pet-S-Mart and Pet-Co. I always assumed they'd be more, but one time I dropped in when the other chains were ... let's just say experiencing issues, and now I'm never going back to the chains. They actually have my cats' food (Science Diet) for significantly less than either the big chains offered it. Litter costs more, but whatever, not much more, and I don't buy that every two weeks. Anyway, they always have tons of staff on hand to advise about raising of pets like tortoises, fish, parakeets, you name it. I mean, they're a full service shop and they love the help.

This is store is always a great place to walk into. I have sold my hamsters here before and I knew they were going to go to good people. The staff is always very knowledgeable of the animals and accessories they carry. The staff is also always eager to help you find anything and offer information. And I've never had a problem with the temperaments of the animals because this store treats the animals with respect and doesn't ignore their needs. the cages are always clean and so is the store which is always a good thing.

I've only had the opportunity to visit this Clark's half a dozen times in my 20+ years but I visit the one on Menaul fairly regularly. Employees are always friendly and helpful and while I can probably get most of my supplies online I prefer to pay a bit more and support local small businesses.

I've been going to Clarks for my cat Supply needs for years. The staff are amazingly friendly and very helpful. The selection is good but probably not great. I would give them five stars except their prices are pretty hi compared to a PetSmart, but I can't go there because of transportation issues. They frequently have a cute kitty from Animal Humane available in the store for adoption, and I adopted one of their kittens 3 years ago. And of course she's great! 😺

This store has a beautiful and healthy variety of freshwater and saltwater fish. The fish department head, Mike, is always friendly and helpful. All of the other employees are very nice, friendly, and helpful. They also stock a decent variety of supplies for your pet of choice. I love how the staff is always happy to see me and my dog and makes sure we feel welcome and appreciated. I also love that the staff in the dog and cat food section really knows the products and feeds their own pets the good stuff so we can talk options for different concerns...my dog has allergies to grains and most meat except fish, which make her itch, and my cat has kidney problems...both surprisingly common issues in pets. I'm a big fan of this locally owned pet shop.

I love this pet store. I have 2 guinea pigs and an army of hamsters. I buy all their food here. The have some amazing bulk food for them (and birds and bunnies) that is super cheap and the animals love it. Their animals always look well cared for and the employees are very friendly.

I like Clark's. I shopped here for crickets for my South American Tarantula, Rosy, decades ago. And carnivourous treats for my sweet python, Ra Om Constrictor, also quite awhile ago. I fostered big dogs and came to Clark's for all their needs. My kiddo when he was little thought the 'treat' stand full of biscuits was magical - Haha. Now I come in at least once a month for the awesome felines in my life. And every once in awhile chicken food when I can't make it out to the South Valley feed store. *Clark's has a variety of 50lb bags plus bulk cracked corn (really good for flock). Staff is always friendly. I took 1 star off because it seems like a lot of turn around with employees, or maybe that is just my timing? I don't know. But as often as I'm in there it would be cool if someone once said, Hi nice to see you how are the kitties? Or any sense of the fact I have literally been going in there since 1990. Still, they've been in business since I think the 1970's (!), it's a terrific, one of a kind, local establishment. I hope to keep going back for another 30 years.

Another essential Albuquerque business that has been around for many years and that I've been shopping at since I was an undergrad at UNM. Clark's has a great selection of premium pet food, a large selection of over the counter health products and medications, walking and sleeping accessories for dogs and just about anything else you need for your pet. They also have quite a selection of tropical fish, birds and some exotics too. The most important thing though is the staff. Very knowledgeable, agreeable and even eager to help, Clark's demonstrates how important local business can be, not just for products, but for employing such a diverse group of local humans.

I was able to get nearly everything I needed to start a new 10 gallon tank. 2 people that helped me were very helpful, offering advice and even sold me a glass top lid I was looking for but didn't see out in their main selection. Their prices are great and the selection allowed me to shop brands I couldn't find in chain stores, which saved me a ton. I'll be going back!

Went in seeking a poison to drop some knowledge on me about snakes, I read everything I could stand on the internets and needed some first hand, handler's experience. This place is fantastic. I came here for Betta fish. All the fish and other animals were very healthy and active. I had looked in the Santa Fe pet stores for healthy bettas, but I wasn’t able to find any. I saw the reviews for this place and decided to drive down. Mike in the Clark’s fish dept was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and even helped me pick out a better food for my new Betta. I have never been this impressed with a pet store. I will gladly make an hour trip to visit this place again!

This place is great for cat and dog things. They have a great selection of foods, toys and collars. They sell birds and have cages and accessories for them. We were specifically looking for supplies for aquariums. The help didn't really have much information and told us to call his boss the next day. The fish had ick, the tanks were dirty and the fish in the back room looked really neglected. They don't carry sumps for tanks at all. They carry Fluval canister filters only. I used to love their fish department, but it's just sad now.

By far my new favorite place to shop for my pets. The cat litter is cheaper in large quantities compared to other places and they have a WIDE variety of aquarium needs for my crawfish to keep him happy on his tank. Give this place a shot if you haven't already, they have so many cute and unique critters for pets and even more neat things for your pets that no other place would have. I've so far found everything I've needed here vs having to do it online! No more shopping for supplies online, I finally found a pet shop perfect for me and my pets needs.

Excellent little pet place! I've seen many pet stores that are either giants that have poor reputations (petsmart/co), or smaller places that charge an arm and a leg. This is a gem among all because (most) things are a fair or good price, but the quality of things is also wonderful. The staff at Clark's is amazing! I went in today with a weird request. I needed to get the scent of a real rabbit on a training toy for my dog. The staff took my dog's toy and put it into the cage of the rabbit they have for sale. They even tossed the toy around in the rabbit's bedding so the scent would get all over the toy. Even the rabbit went above and beyond. This is the BEST place to go for pet supplies in Albuquerque.

I’m finally writing a review about Clark’s, because they have great products, some of which you can’t get anywhere else, and employees on the floor are always incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Chase really impressed us today helping us buy dog food, and was a great example of how wonderful the employees can be. The only reason this is 4/5 stars is the cashiers. I don’t get why, but almost every time I go in the cashiers are rude and treat us in a way that makes my husband and I feel unwelcome and anxious to get out. So the whole experience is always perfect until the cashiers. I don’t know why they seem to always be in such a terrible mood and just don’t give good customer service.

Pet stores that sell animals always make me nervous due to concerns about how the animals are taken care of. Unfortunately I can't say Clark's Pet Emporium helped me feel any more confident in such places. Many of the animals looked well enough but in there fish tanks and fish pond there were a number of fish in different levels of decay. Perhaps they put a bigger value on their other animals as the cages though old were clean enough. We went there looking for Fromm cat food but there wasn't much of a selection.

Aggressively friendly staff. I am usually asked if I need help by three or four staff members simultaneously within minutes of being in the store. I'm not complaining about it, per se, but it can be frustrating when people keep asking if you need help and you say no, and then they come back up to you and ask if you're sure you don't need help and you have to tell them again that you don't need any help. He had a baby corn snake he was obviously very fond of and thought would make a good pet for us. i was bummed the cashiers didn't honor the discount Christian said I would get but it was a difference of a few dollars so I didn't bother. It hurts me to give these guys a poor review but I think it's needs to be done so people know. I bought a long haired Syrian hamster a few weeks ago and he was sick with an upper respiratory infection. He was a baby and after I brought him home he only lived for like 2 weeks. He also infected my other hamster just from contact with me and they do not share a cage or are together at any time due to syrians being solitary. I called to notify them that their male hamsters are sick but I wonder if they'll do anything. If you recently bought a hamster at Clark's and it passes away please notify them. If they haven't passed please get them to the vet asap of they are lethargic like mine was. I am sorry to review Clark's negatively but I think this issue needs some attention.

My bearded dragon eats superworms and Clark's usually has them in stock in 25 or 50 count. They keep them behind the desk which is awesome cuz some people tend to dump more worms into one carton to get more. The worms usually seem pretty healthy. When you get home, take them out and put em in a large tubaware so they have space to keep em alive longer. I know they also sell crickets too.

I've been coming here for over 20 years for pet supplies, and they are truly the Best in the City. -HUGE selection of cat and dog food, I don't have a dog so I don't know much about that side but they have a massive selection of high-end cat food, though be careful because their lowest end offering has rice in it and cannot be substituted for the other, grain-free brands (as my family learned the hard way). But you can get everything from the higher end Iams to Solid Gold. Try the Taste of the Wild, our cats love it! -Along the same lines, TONS of dog and cat supplies! A selection in no particular order: KMR, harnesses, collars, leashes, Nature's Miracle, litter, e-collars, booties to keep paws safe in the summer heat or winter salt, cat strollers, carriers of all sizes, and pre-assembled cat trees! -Don't miss the Cat in the City! Animal Humane has a cat here pretty much every day waiting to be adopted, often for very low prices or only a suggested donation. In 2011 I got my beloved belated Abigail here and she was an absolute delight, a cuddlebug like none other who latched onto people who were sick and tried very determinedly to cure them with her love and purring. What I'm saying is, the cats here are angels and you should definitely go get one. -Downright amazing aquaria selection, both fresh and salt water species, live rock, tons of supplies and tanks. -They also sell reptiles, mostly baby snakes, bearded dragons are frequently available, turtles (Clark's also carries a ton of pond supplies!), and tarantulas, as well as terrarium supplies and feeder animals ranging from crickets and dubia roaches on up to rats. -Speaking of, they also sell non-feeder pet rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, I think gerbils, and I often see rabbits and chinchillas. As usual, they have everything you need for bedding, shelter, food, and enrichment as well. -Back in the same corner that has small mammals are also birds! Society and zebra finches, parakeets, cockatiels, and conures can frequently be found here, as well as everything you need to get started and set up. -Finally, the staff. The staff! Everyone's so helpful and no matter what your question is, someone is bound to have the answer or can refer you to someone who does. They also have a wealth of resources for everything from grooming and walks to sterilization and veterinary care. They also hold shot clinics twice a month! Large corporations like to complain that millennials have no brand loyalty. The reason is because they have no passion for the things they make or services they provide. Everyone at Clark's is 100% dedicated to helping you and your pet, and it really shows. Like I said, I've been coming here for 20+ years, and intend to keep coming here for years to come. Don't take only my word for it, though; Clark's is consistently ranked Best in the City by both Albuquerque the Magazine and the Weekly Alibi. These guys are awesome! I was surprised how massive the pet store is inside, as its so unassuming. If you're keeping fish and have an aquarium, these guys carry the best medications to heal your fish. Petco has a contract with aquafin and so they only carry their brand (which isnt the best), and Petsmart usually carries the generic corporate brands. I normally would have to order the good stuff off amazon but these guys have It! Thus far, they have not failed me. Super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. I definitely recommend checking these guys out if you're considering buying stuff for your pet or getting a pet.

I am from Independence missouri, we went here looking for a a onesie for my Chihuahua all the ones i have seen at other stores are a fleece material and in Christmas colors/patterns but since my pup is almost hairless I did not want something with a Christmas pattern sobshe can wear it after Christmas. They have just about everything for your pets. They don't have a great mealworm thing going on to feed my quail however. They don't sell more that 100 and I don't think there is truly 100 in there, more like 50, and half were nothing but sound and dried out dead. But the rest of the place is full of animals and feed of all kinds! Should carry quail stuff; cages with no more that 1/4" wiring, quail food, sod cage lining, and paper bird cage lining, etc., Overall, it's better than Petsmart and Petco by far! Much better selection and prices are within reason. If I didn't just but 3 containers of mostly dead mealworms, and I had the choice to buy the 500 count, I would have given a 5 star.

Shopping for feeders online is way cheaper by about 50$ for crickets. If you buy 1000 crickets on ebay its only 25$. At clarks you only get 300 for that price. If you buy roaches you can get like 300 or 500 for about 35$ maybe 55$ at clarks it costs 15$ for like 25 roaches.
