Reviews of Sampson State Park
Hilary Ring
An OK campground. If I could give it 2.5 stars I would.
The park is on the site of an old military base. Most of the park is made up of large, mowed fields so the campsites are pretty much out in the open with no privacy between them. And there are A LOT of sites so it's a very busy place.
The electricity hookups are so far from the campsites that you have to use an extension cord. Because the park is on Seneca Lake, most sites are sloping toward the lake so it's a challenge to get your RV level.
The bathroom is clean, but there are only 2 showers per loop, and with at least 50 sites per loop, that's not enough. Also, there is no place to sit or get dressed in in the shower stall; inside the shower stall is the shower. There's not even a place to put your soap.
There is a small dump station. On our way on to the park on a Sunday morning, there were probably 30 rigs in line to dump.
On the plus side, you are on Seneca Lake. But once you get back to your campsite, it's nothing special.

While not sure I’d camp in the RV park, the cabins are beautiful and well kept. They’re right on the water (most of them) and have spectacular views. Each site has its own fire pit and charcoal grill. The park offers an indoor arcade, outdoor movie nights, live music (at scheduled times), and a small “restaurant”. They offer boat rentals and there is also a small store on the grounds for immediate needs of mostly everyday care items, wood, camping necessities, etc. Cabins with the loft will easily hold two queen blow up mattresses.
It was our second time here and we’ll be back again and again.
Vinnie Chenzo
This place is absolutely beautiful. Clean facilities nice people and large sites. Bring 75 feet of water hose to fill your tanks because hook-ups for water can be far. The wineries were very fun also.

Great gem of a State Park on Seneca Lake. Nice with lots of flat "streets" to ride.(it's an old military base over grown). Campground is pretty open in all loops and as others state bring an extension cord! You will need it as most sites share electric post. Very quiet place. Didn't swim, only went to beach for sunset.
Sharon Frank
Well maintained park on an old military base. Several camp sites have views of the lake. Military museum, nightly outdoor movies, marina, arcades, swimming beach and large playgrounds. Very cute modern cottages for those who don't camp.
Amanda K
Highlights :
Most sites are pretty spacious
Pets allowed in some loops
Marina store
Marina with pontoon boat rentals
Fishing
Swimming
Ice cream and concessions stand
Arcade room
Outdoor movie screen
Nice playgrounds
Military museum
Paved loops - good for bikes and scooters
Near-by attractions:
Wineries
Cons:
Electric service boxes are shared in-between sites. This could pose an issue if your power cord is not long enough.
There is only source for water fill up. This could end up being a very very long wait if you arrive at the same time as other campers.
Only 2 dump stations
They don’t allow pull-in camping. Campers MUST be backed in
Morgan Fedele
Very fun, there is a band on Fridays and a movie every night. Fun beach and taking photos at 8:20-9:45pm for the sun set is THE BEST by the peir. But in the woman's bath house in 2nd loop there is only 2 showers, one big shower with a bench to put your stuff on, the other shower has just the shower part, no hooks or anything. Other than that I enjoyed going through the museum and biking through the trails.

Had to extend our stay for how much we loved this place! Pricey but definitely worth it. The cabin is family oriented, very clean and comfortable. The ship store has everything we need. The playground by the water was beautiful. They even had a movie for kids. I highly recommend for a short get away 💖 …

This former military location is a beautiful NY State Park. To save this property for public use is priceless. We came here to camp for a week and will always remember the large spacious fields and sunsets. The tennis, volleyball, baseball, and basketball courts provide great recreation. They are a little dated but still serve as a great place for casual fun. The campground has electric hookup at each site but bring extra cord. The bathrooms in each loop are clean. There are firepits at each site. cottages are available for rent and there is a marina. New construction is occurring and we can't wait to see how this park develops.
Bob Steinbeiser
Great park, a very nice guarded beach and many campsites (all w/electric). We especially enjoyed the evening outdoor movies every night
Erin Flynn
Large campground, large sites, wonderful views, great place to walk around and relax. Only drawback is wait for dumping station can be long if leaving same day as everyone else.
R B
Extremely impressed with the facilities! The few rows of different size cabins were brand new. The camping store had a bit of everything needed for camping and eating needs. There is an ice cream store for day of evening treats. We did not see in operation, the outdoor theater but understand family movies are shown on Thursday nights. Also live bands under the tent on Friday evenings til 9pm but weren't there for that either. Many more amenities to enjoy right on Seneca Lake.
Kevin Markman
Beautiful spot along the lake for relaxing. Nice cabins to stay with a little arcade, playground for the kids, and pavilions for your adventure.
Luisa Sherman
Very large, lots of sites we always stay in loop 2. outer ring sites are level and easy to back into. inner ring sites on the west side of the loop tend to have an uphill drive up to them which can make leveling a challenge. Bath houses are decent and clean. Lakeside area is nice for cookouts or picnics. There are tons of miles of roadways in the park for bikes and walking for exercise. They have a phone app type program now to use to call in to hear a short narration about when the property was a military installation- it was interesting but the need to call in a little awkward and redundant-a dedicated phone app would be better.
We truly wish the state of NY would upgrade these campsites to have water hook ups at each site at least if not full hook ups. The major downfall of this park is the lack of multiple fresh water drive up hook ups and septic dump areas. There are water stations in the loops but if campers are in all sites, you cannot access them to fill your tank without hogging the roadway and running super long lengths of hose! The current 2 stall dump station (pretty antiquated too) and ONE fresh water fill near the check in is woefully inadequate. The fresh water is located too close to the 2nd dump bay so if someone is filling their water that dump area becomes inaccessible. The water pressure is set so low it took us nearly 45 minutes to fill our 55 gal fresh water tank. If you are checking out on Sunday be prepared to wait in line to dump your tanks too unless you get there by 8 AM. They have acres and acres of land especially near the exit on right side to build a new multi lane dump station and should do so for the very next update to this facility before anything else. There are over 250 sites and only 2 dump stations! Staff were pleasant but appeared very unprofessional (would be nice to at least see them in a NYS Parks shirt) event bulletin board was nice idea but had not been updated 2 weeks after the month had changed. Seems like the state is basking in the laurels of subleasing out part of the campground to a for profit development/leasing agency who is installing full hook up sites and tons of cabin rentals and the state parks are forgetting about the true mission of a state campground which is to provide services and respite to traditional campers who now are subjected to substandard services on the other loops.
Cynthia Paoli
Absolutely gorgeous. Pretty cool amenities. Best dog show we ever went to.
Jerry Lamb
Great clean campgrounds and facilities. Great boat launch but better Museum. Tells you all about the training facility that was once there and it's impact on WWII. Only reason for a 4 was because we didn't check out our site first. Tough time backing around a tree. But great once we were in it. We checked out further sites and we will return. The staff are outstanding as well

Wine Country Dog Show is held every year. And it is one of the top 10 dog shows in the country. People from all over, joining the celebration and it is incredible. Luckily it's held in our backyard!! So we get to see friends from all over the country with their dogs, camaraderie, wine, food. Even if you're just a dog lover, it's a great place to see all the types of dogs. The top dogs in the country. Just plan ahead if you need hotel because they fill up quickly or just camp out at the lovely campgrounds there.
Charles Cornish
Great family camping. Lots of activities for kids to do. Beautiful place
Mark Champlin
We camped here 5 nights. The sites were spacious and really nice. There's a beautiful beach and fantastic new playground on the lake. The birdwatching was decent with 32 species including a couple surprises.
Lee Ann Ostrowski
We rented one of the newer lakeside cottages and are so happy. Modern and spacious with a great lakeview. The only advice I would offer is to bring a portable AC unit if renting in the summer...believe it or not, no AC in the cottages but lots of windows with refreshing breeze off the lake and some powerful ceiling fans. Not a concern for our stay as we were there in September. Also worth mentioning, the cottage design was very handicap accessible.
Dee W
Beautiful state park. Our family loves camping at Sampson. Great facilities for the kids. Great playgrounds, beach swimming, movie night, arcade. The little grill offers tons of food options. The view and location of the water a perfect.
Julie Tatro
Camped here several times and one of our favorite campgrounds. Super cool playground on the beach. Not thrilled about our last visit. Door was locked to the ladies restroom and as tent campers we need this bathroom. Brought it to the attention of cleaning staff and the office but nobody could find a key to keep the door unlocked.
James Sunday
Another great n.y. state park very clean. Has a beach and marina and a military museum. Was there 5 days on the 4th of July no fireworks allowed in park, my dog was very relaxed.
bulldod23
Absolutely positively without a doubt the best park in the entire central ny region better then any other state park I am not going to list all the amenities because it will take me an hour to do but the view of the lake is spectacular this was my first trip and by far best day of 2021. I want to take a moment to comment on the superb customer service when I called the park ahead of time and had a few questions about the beach camping etc they where friends and were eager to help.
Leah Beckwith
Beautiful park! My husband and I just did a quick tour, but there is a military museum, playground, boat launch, camping, and cabins. We can't wait to go back for a longer stay.
Dee Anderson
Beautiful autumn walk with 5 1/2 miles of lakefront!
R Churches
A lot of wide open space ringed by beautiful deciduous trees. Plenty of space to social distance and still enjoy yourself without even seeing another person. The military museum has a lot of great outdoor displays of machinery (just don’t climb on the sculpture) that you can get right up close to. There seemed to constantly be a sheriff patrolling the park, no idea what that’s about as it was a quiet weekday when I saw it.
Elizabeth Harr
Beautiful Park on Seneca Lake. perfect camping spot !!!
Karen Sickles
Nice camp ground. Quiet and peaceful. Nice beach and lake front. Biked 16.5 miles around the campsite area. Explored the old cemetery and the veteran cemetery. Lake side trail. Our site had electric. Bathrooms very clean. Check in super easy. Will definitely return.
Kathleen Wingood
Nicely kept nice sites with room. The price is good and staff is good. The bath and showers are ok but older. The electric hookups need updating so you don'tneed an extra long power cords.
Stacy Romaine
We stayed here for a weekend at one of the campsites and had a nice time! We had a great view of the lake, which was nice, and although the hookup was a bit away from our site, it all worked out with the help of an extension cord, The washroom and shower facilities were nice, and we enjoyed all the roads and trails meandering around the park, and parts of the old base. Roads were indeed a little rough in places as people have mentioned, but we're not racing down these access roads, anyway, so it was easy to just drive carefully in places. We went in September and it was a little cool, but we'll be back to check it out during the nice weather, too.
Aditya Lotia
Beautiful place to spend some time in solace. Lake Seneca looks beautiful from here. There were a lot of families here for the labor day weekend - barbecuing, doing water sports, biking and in general having a good time.
Craig Lacelle
Absolutely Amazing campgrounds! Well maintained and super helpful staff. Museum, marina, boat rentals, arcade, playground and tons of activities. Big thanks to Officer Wasso for helping us get into our camper when we got locked out.
Dan I
A very nice historical park with a wide variety of camping locations. A small rec center with limited sales. Roadways need a lot of work and the bathrooms are very outdated. Museum and WWII artifacts are very nice. The docks are being upgraded which was needed. Recommended.
Christopher Johnson
On the east side of Seneca Lake this has to be the prettiest state park in the finger lakes. Despite the many attractions in the surrounding area, the park is quiet and spacious. The history of the grounds can be learned at the on site military museum that gives a glimpse into the past contributions the park had made. Plenty of awesome playgrounds to keep the kids busy. A beach area to cool off in the hot weather and a concession stand that sells slushies. The sites are very well maintained, but bring an extension cord for the RV since the boxes are a centered between sites. Friendly office staff will make the stay that much nicer.

I drove to this place following the map to finger lake. I’ve never seen such a quite and beautiful place.
If you want to have some camp, or just to breathe fresh air, or to relax in the beautiful scene, come here, you definitely want to come here.
Also, the park has great and wide view of the finger lake. It is REALLLLLLY amazing.
It seems that there is some construction going on to build a port for people to boat. So I believe it will be better and better in the future.
Oksana PlayAgility
Had great time there visiting Wine Country Circuit! Perfect fall weather and gorgeous views! Watched Agility, Obedience, Confirmation Best in Show, Lure coursing all at one place!
Elena Kamis
Well maintained and large park! Park staff at the main office were super helpful. I went during small game season so she explained where to and where not to go and provided us with recommendations and plenty of maps. We went with the 3 mile cellphone tour (this was a midday road trip pit stop for a walk to get out of the car) so it’d be quick but we learned a ton and as a nerd I appreciated it a lot! Also, while the view of the lake rocked, I can imagine the summer time and fall views with all the trees and would’ve been even better. Still recommend!
Betsi Gallagher
This is a very nice park. The playground is huge and my granddaughter loves it. The view of Seneca Lake is beautiful. The swimming area is small but nice. We have mot camped there yet but I would love to.
M W
Beautifu views. The park used to be a military base back in the Korean war era. It has been converted to a state park with lots of paved roads to ride your bike. It also have a self guide tour of what used to be a military camp base...lots of history. Lots to see and do.
Michael Brown
Went to the Sampson Museum and had a nice visit. Museum has items from when the Navy and Air Force were there. Its free and doesnt take long to visit. Rest of the park was enjoyable as well
Liz Fraser
Sampson is a great family campground with places for bikes to ride, play grounds and great sites. A Naval and Air Force museum is available for any donation to go thru. Veterans staff it and they love to talk to the kids and adults about their service.
David Mahaffey
Visited friends at their camp site. Clean and beautiful with amazing Sunsets down by the Marina
Amrita Anand
Beautiful place to watch the sunset. We stayed in the newly constructed cabins facing the lake. They were great!
Millie
My family and I camped here and enjoyed our time, the park has been remodeled and the facilities were clean. The sunsets were beautiful! The people that we met that were camping near us were friendly. We didn’t get to visit the museum, but we hope to go back and check it out.
J ennifer
Great park. Nice clean big campsite. My only complaint the eletric plug in is on the opposite side of my camper and you need an extra long cord or extension.
Beach for swimming, access to put your kayak in the lake, great play areas for kids. Plus a military museum to explore, rec area, plenty to explore. As usual a full campground, but great camping experience.
Joy Bodewes
Beautiful park. Large campsites. No water or sewer hookups but readily available fill and dump sites. Water connections spaced throughout campsites .
Judy Hartle
Marina, park, ship store, bathrooms, all beautiful and well maintained. Staff are always knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. Live music on Fridays, awesome 4th of July fireworks, love everything about this place!
Matthew Meckley
Definitely has nice views of Seneca Lake. Very nice pavilions are available to rent out for large gatherings say for a company picnic or family reunion. They have good spaces for camping purposes as well. The beach is rather small however.
Michael Buneo
Loved it, will definitely be going there again!!
Stephanie K
Incredible playground! Great for kids of different ages. Never heard so much laughter or excitement in a playground!! I do think that signs to the playground would be very helpful as it is hard to find one you turn into the state Park
Cathy Stark
Beautiful sunset and lits of places ti sit and take it in
Chris Schoen
This is an amazing park and we go every year! Large sites, clean modern facilities I'd recommend to anyone!
David Clamp
Sampson State Park was where my girlfriend and I and many of her family camped this past weekend. There are many many campsites along with a beach volleyball and other sporting courts and a military museum on the site. They also have a small concession area where you can buy limited beverages, ice, etc. Not a bad place to camp but pick your sight carefully, some are right out in the sun with no trees for shade.
Terrence Roche
Great campground. Nice big camping sites. One issue, needs more water spigots for filling camper fresh water tanks, and dump station need revamping. Oh, and pave the access road to the camping area. Other than that, great place.
Don Hennick
The park is great, but the real attraction is across the 96a to the east. Bring your best belt broadway voice.
Shalina Mallory
Clean Park! Huge sites & overall quiet campsites!
nick
Awesome campground, amazing boat launch, nice trails good vibe, would definitly recommend. Only thing is wifi and service is pretty spotty but its camping so who cares!!! Amazing place to unwind and relax. Great fishing as well.
cheeseand pepper
I don't know way, but I keep finding myself back here. I just drive, and suddenly I'm here again. It's just peaceful. I love it here.
Kim Anguish
Love this park! Perfect size for the kids to explore lots to do! Everyone we came across very nice and wanted to help if any questions were asked!! Missed check in by 15 minutes so took care of it in the morning! We will be back
Jason Schussler
State park is clean. Playgrounds in the state park are nice and the one by the lake is very large. The cabins located on the Seneca resorts park are very clean. Note the Seneca Resorts rv sites are seasonal only. The state park does daily/weekly reservations
Will S-E
The park was great. Lots of different sites to choose from. Staff were all friendly. Facilities were clean. Sites were well maintained. Mowed and well kept. Beach is nice but is a typical upstate beach. Small sharp rocks. Water shoes necessary. Main entry road from 96A to the traffic circle could use some pavement work. We ONLY stay in State Parks. And for some reason biting insects were non-existent
Mary Smith
The military museum is very intersting and there is a great playground. The beach area is small and water never gets deeper than waist high. Campsites are crowded and have no shade.
Cande Hadlock
I would give it 5 stars if every bathouse was handicapped accessible. I did here they are updating all of them but as of now loop 2 is the only one.
Christine Swalgin
Great park for our Tin Can Tourist Rallies!!! We will fill two loops in Sept 2019!!
Jill Barron
The new playground is awesome! I'm not sure about the water access running through the campground.
Ewoud Geurtsen
Very nice state park, location is perfect. Flat sites, clean bathrooms.
matt bell
awesome lake view walk with nature the wife enjoys finding lake glass along the beaches and the dogs love the freedom to run
Bobbianna
Wonderful sunsets and a great place to skip stones 🤗 …
John J
Love this state park. Beautiful area filled with amazing history as well as the most beautiful place to see the sunrise and sunset. There are 5 loops so there’s plenty of places to walk and a different area to stay each time.
Ann Mehlenbacher James
Last camping trip for the season with my sister and her husband. Great time as always.
Christine Zimmerman
Very nice place to have a picnic dinner.
Jason Dobbs
Lots of lake beach to explore. The sea weed gets pretty bad and piles up on the shore latter in the summer. The playground is brand new.
Travis White
Beautiful place, lots of trail the walk camp grounds or always clean
George Reiss
Clean facilities and several water faucets per loop. Large sites are great but be prepared to run at least 2 cords for electric.
Matthias Mullins
Great educational trip for my young ones with lots of visuals. They really enjoyed walking through.
Michael Scarchilli
Very nice campground. Clean, well kept property. Fun to explore. 👍 …
Dymelza P
Nice rv park. The bathrooms need an upgrade, the wals had a few holes and the tiles in the shower were falling. Tons of spiders in the showers.
Darkness Your Old Friend
The best state park around here!!! Nice beach swimming area, has dock, very huge playground for kids of all ages!! Has trails. There's even cabins u can rent here!!
Julie Alberts
It was very clean with a lot of open spaces. It was the off season when I went, so it was quiet. I could see this place being mobbed during the summer.
Dan Harter
Sampson's was a great park. Clean, large sites, loop five is best in our opinion. Our site 245 was great and the park was beautiful. The military museum is à nice touch and a great history lesson. Lots for kids to do and adults as well. Many breweries and wineries nearby. I would give it a five if the water spigots were more accessible and you didn't have to walk close to people's sites to access showers. Definitely going back.
Joan Martin
The sites are so huge that you need a extra extension cord and extra water hose. They had ice cream shop, kids movie at night, beach, and it was clean. Sadly you have to walk threw someones site to get to bathrooms
Josiah Shirk
We watched the 4th of July fireworks great show
Ana R
Closed both arcade and ship store 30 minutes early. Nephew started crying cause we just bought credits and had to leave. Then I needed bait from the ship store to fish. Todays my birthday. Was really looking forward to fishing at sunset. But didn’t matter they said they locked every thing up. Huge bummer. Weeks of planning for this trip.
Dan Baker
Campsites are not close together big open areas for kids to play awesome place to go fishing very nice place
Jack Gerber
Great park on Seneca Lake on old WW2 Navy bas
Maureen Wills
This place is very large but so well laid out you don't realize how many people can be there. The sites are also large so you never feel on top of your neighbor. The bathrooms are big and kept very clean. I had no problem taking a shower. They have a pier to fish off and a boat launch. The playgrounds were awesome and the kids seemed to like them. There's a small beach with a Life Guard. Water was cold - 56°F. But it was refreshing. There's a small concession stand that I'm told has good food especially their fish fry. Get firewood before you get there because the wood at the concession stand was $7.50 a bundle. Way too much. I really liked all the shade that was available all over the campground too. All in all, I'd go back again.
Raymond Connors
Beautiful park on Geneva Lake. Great military history and campground.
Gary Snelson
Lots of people electrical layout for the rv was very poor make sure you have a long cord not far from Watkins Glen trail
Steve
Good size sites well laid out park plenty of nature to explore. Staff is top notch. Some sites could be graded better, bring plenty of blocking. Could use a more full hook sites. Restrooms were clean.
Jim LeClair
Excellent lakeside campground open year round. Reasonable price with quiet sites. Nice walks in the morning near the lakes. Saw lots of deer roaming around. Would have launched our kayaks if the weather was better. We'll be back!
jane parkhurst
Beautiful spot to hike and just enjoy nature
Steve Gigliotti
Beautiful place. Nice sites. Just wish they had full hook up
Bob Albin
Decent camping for us tent campers. Not completely wide open and offers some sites on the outer edges up against wooded areas. As most of New York State Parks it is well maintained.
Ithaca 255
The cabins at Seneca Lake Resort in Sampson State Park are awesome. Clean, spacious, AC and we'll spaced out. Nice store and marina. Some have direct water views. Highly recommend
vicki dalton
Wonderful park so clean with large shady sites, always enjoy camping here. Only disappointment was game room not open , would have enjoyed it on a rainy day. Understand with covid but 1 family at a time could have used it with a time limit
Gerald Duffy
Big sites. Lots of area to walk around. Plus a museum.
Pamela “Dumptruck” Halpert
Partially shaded campsites, helpful staff, huge overall area to explore on bikes or by foot. Loop 5 has lakeview camp sites, but they're always the first ones to go; almost all the western sites on loop 5 have some sort of lake access trails to get away to your own private lakefront. Unfortunately they leased about half the land recently to a private company that built a marina and cabins with plans for a hotel soon. As a result, DEC and state park police use the campground as a hangout spot so stick to the speed limits. It's a perfect spot to put your phone on silent and "pretend" there isn't cell service to get away for a few days. My grandpa trained there before WW2 so I feel probably more attached to that site than others.
Jeffrey Anderson
In the past I would have given this park a 5, but new management. I arrived early and was told absolutely no way was I allowed to check in to my site even though it was empty. I get it, I was early ( though in 15 years camping I have NEVER been denied my site early ). As I am waiting in the parking lot I kept seeing people walking out with their tags and leaving to go to their site. Complained multiple times and they just thanked ME for following the rules. What a sap I am, everyone else went to their site early. They CLAIMED that this requirement is so that they could make sure fire pits were clean ( They weren't ), Lawn was mowed ( NOT ), and site was clean ( obviously this didn't include beer cans or dog waste ). Still a decent park, and normally I wouldn't care about the fire pit, dog stuff, beer cans and lawn, but you force me to sit around waiting till check in time so you can make the site ready when in reality nothing was done to that site at all. Put a negative start to what otherwise should have been a nice experience.
Lori Motak
Great sites for a campground. Views of the lake are Beautiful!
Stew S
Seneca Lake is beautiful and the Park has a lot of coastline although most of it is still wild and not readily accessible. The camping areas are very nice and many of the sites are larger than at most State parks. The beach is small but quite nice. If you are a boater this is an especially great place.
Jose Ferrao
Very clean nice huge have areas with there own grill .
Sayka Mim
This place is good for swimming and picnic bbq...
Cat Colton
There's so many wonderful elements of Sampson. From the beautiful new cabins and the campsites as well, to the marina and the new beach side playground. Not to forget the many hiking trails to explore and the veterans museum that can be visited during special hours. A clean, family oriented state park located in the heart of the finger lakes. We will return many more times and create great memories!
Robert Crawford
Good place to go and get let the dog really get a new prospective. He enjoyed the walk also and places for exploring. Will have to look into renting one of the cabins in the near future.
John Gannon
Sampson park is a beautiful state park. The lawns are well groomed. Plenty of room to bike, hike, walk, and enjoy a barbecue. The boat marina has been beautifully done over for boat enthusiasts. The park also has cabins and plenty of tent, R.V sites for camping. They also have a clean well kept beach for swimming. What can I say, who ever runs this park knows how to do it and make it an enjoyable visit for everyone. Great place to visit, boat, and camp.
Jason Diehl
The campground is nice and clean. The sites are spread out. The bathrooms are clean. Nice location near the water. Stayed at the campground while attending the NASCAR race about 45 min south.
moni dzi
We didn’t stay here, but we wish we would have! What beautiful well spaced out grounds. Amazing playgrounds for the kids, pristine marina area and boat ramp!
The only reason this would not really work for our family is we flew in from out of town and could not “bring our own linens” to the lodging.
Chuck Lafler
Fantastic! The park is more like a highly rated resort than a state park campground with the refurbished marina and addition of the beautiful cabins. Located on Seneca Lake the marina has it's own store for boaters. Awesome! The playground is the nicest of any of the parks in the area, and this is just the south end of the park. There are plenty of campsites at both ends to accommodate RV's and tenters alike. Then there's the military museum that educates the public about the naval and air force training bases that were located there during and after the second world war. Definitely not the same place it was when I worked there in the early 80's.

This has to be my favorite state park. It has an excellent marina and the sites are easily large. When you have a big camper its nice to know that getting into almost any site at this park will be manageable. There's just the right amount of trees to allow you maneuverability yet still give nice shade for those hot days.
Ryan DeVay
Fun camping trip with the dogs!
brandon newstead
The park is a wonderful place however alot of garbage is laying around. Campground is gorgeous
Tammy Washburn
Always so peaceful. The breeze off the lake is also very refreshing and helps with the Summer heat.
Randy Boelsems
Great place to camp. Really enjoyed our water view campsite.
Marjorie Chapski
Very clean sites & restrooms. The electric hook-up's are between sites so bring a long cord! The water is located in the loops but not for individual hook-up, so fill your fresh tank before going to your site. Not a lot of shade/tree's, nor privacy between sites but everyone seems cordial & friendly. Lots of folks of all ages, too. Playground area for the kids. LOTS of winery's nearby... Like Napa Valley, lol! Historic sites to visit and cool, smaller, active towns/cities nearby. Seneca Lake is huge! The marina wasn't open, yet (late-April) but looks really nice. I would definitely keep this on my list as returnable destinations.
Robert Klavoon
Great place to camp. Most sites are flat and wide open. Bring extra extension cords. Power boxes can be far away from the camper pad.
Kenneth Roberts (K and K Farms)
Very nice place with beautiful cabins and great views.
Christina Rookey
One of our favorites! Beautiful landscape and clean park. Countless improvements since 2021, arcade and pats pizza, movies on the lawn, well stocked store at the marina.
Angel Lawrence
Extensive improvements. Every section of the park has so many great changes.
Daniel Riser
Been going to Samson State Park for over 40 years I rated top one for camping and for fishing Seneca lake the best we'll keep going as long as I'm alive
Eric Cobi
Stayed in one of the cottages for $1250 for 7 nights during 4th of July. I think it is great value, since it is lakefront. The park amenities are slightly older but if you are here for the lake that probably wont really matter.
Brad Benjamin
Lots of paved trails to walk on or ride bicycle.
Ann
When our kids were in teens now in 30's went camping alot @ Sampson. Kids were always playing kickball, baseball or at the rec center. On Wednesday we went down to see family took my 89 yr old Dad. We all enjoyed it very much, but not very many teens to be found very sad! Very peaceful & serene, but missed kids playing. Park is very well kept!!
Colleen Stock
This place is beautiful. The sites are basic, but you can have a campfire. Quiet hours are 10p-7a, which is great. The staff is a bit quirky, but friendly. There is a playroom and an onsite store which serves food. Good for families, dogs, and couples/singles.
Being in the heart of wine country doesn't hurt.
Jim L
My favorite state park in NY...right on lake...very nice
Reann Boots
Clean bathrooms, cool museum onsite, big marina...ideal spot for boaters that enjoy camping. Lots of kid friendly activities. No water at sites, but easy access dumps & water fill. Must stop at Dave and Rita’s farm market about 1 mile North...amazing breads, pies, cookies & fresh produce galore.
Raymond O'Donnell
Wide open large camp sites. Great waterfront for family and friends. Our visit this year was cut short by a power outage, we left 2 days early and the office said they would give us a 2 night credit. The roads are the same in all state parks, in desperate need of repair and or resurfacing, tough on truck and 12,000 lb camper. Looking forward to going back next year.
patfrathome
A large park with so much to see and do. I love to hike...by the water, though gorges, in woods, on paved trails, with my dog. It had it all. Lots of great camping sites, great cabins, a museum and military cemetery. Good place to bring a bike to, lots of area to cycle in and broad shoulders on 96A. Definitely a park to enjoy.
David Rose
Nicest camp grounds on Seneca lake. Really nice marina with store/fuel fill-up, cabins w/air conditioning, beautiful stone beach and great off shore fishing access. A must do if you are into off shore camping.
Jay Davis
One of my favorite state parks to camp at. Large sites, lots to do, miles of trails to walk or ride bicycle. Right on Seneca lake for boating. Perfect place for the Seneca wine trail. Friendly staff and clean bathrooms and showers. Tennis, basketball, kids playground, tons to do. A do not miss stop for camping or just a day to hang out.
Jody Eckler
Love Sampson! Lovely campsites. Large and most have shade. No full hook ups but do have both electric and primitive sites. Some campsites have a lake view for an extra fee. Employees are friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and showers are adequate and always clean. Has a playground, picnic grounds, marina, game room, and tons of places to hike or ride your bike.
Hector Garrido
Nice getaway. Awesome cabins. Beautiful view.
Kalyn Nichols
I've been going here ever since I was a child! It's a beautiful camp ground. It's well kept and clean. There are electric sites which the first 5 loops and then the "overflow" which are the non electric sites with NO shade and the bathrooms are a bit of a walk to get too so I suggest staying in the loops. The park staff are friendly and attentive. Also, they don't offer a whole bunch of events like some other places. This is more of a "kick back and relax" camp ground where you sit around and talk and enjoy the company of whoever you're with. I do suggest that you bring bikes or rent them because they have awesome trails from when they were a training base. You can ride for hours and find some really nifty places! Definitely recommend!
Linda Paris
Excellent state park. Only area for improvement is the dump station line on Sunday is extremely long. You could be in line for an hour or more. We always book through Monday to avoid the line.
Josh Maxson
Right on the lake, very large and spacious campground, there were lots of RVs but in a section all their own so that where I stayed in a cabin we never heard them and barely saw them at all. Very quiet. Nice playground for the kids by the lake, beautiful sunset views.
Barbara Nurse
Nice sites far enough apart. Nice road for kids to ride bikes. Picnic tables are in good shape. Bathrooms kept clean.
Jim & Joanne Crosby
The camp sites are huge and very spacious on loop 4, which is where we were staying. We had rain but there was good drainage. But the swimming wasn't great. It's in the lake and even tho the life guards and maintenance staff tried their best to take out the seaweed, there was still a lot of it in the swimming area. Also the beach area wasn't really sandy. The kids who played there got quite dirty because the sand was more like gravel. But the playground was fabulous. The campground is on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake so the evening views were gorgeous . We would camp there again
Joe Hellaby
Great state park. Everything always very clean and works. Very large campsites. Has nice concession stand, marina for boats, museum, lots of activities for all. However, I will say that the park is starting to show some wear, the roads and starting to get really bumpy, especially the main entrance road, and the docks in the marine could you some TLC. Still, one of my favorite parks, and well ran.
Heather Krayeski
Great peaceful camp for a weekend away from a busy life. These camp sites are some of the largest I have experienced! Tons of room ! Bathrooms were very clean. The concession stand/general store was reasonable. The playground are some of the neatest that I have seen also. The one outside of Loop 3 has a really neat ninja warrior type play set! Lol .. over all was a very nice clean and enjoyable experience! Cnt wait for our next trip here !
Annette RathSamec
Lovely park. We spent five nights in May. We arrived after several days of rain. Our site was too wet to park a motorhome. The office allowed us to move although they were almost booked. The sites need more limestone. The electric was far from the site and we had to use an extension. Be sure to dump tanks and fill with water before entering.
Patti Wambold
Nice park & campground. We were asked to turn air conditioner off Thursday night (it was 4th of July) because they were having problems with their generator. Back on Friday but lost power Friday evening & still no power back on when we left Sunday morning. We will go back again & hope for a better experience.
Teri Munger
We love the spaciousness of this place! We were able to get the camp spot we hoped for. Bath house was always clean! Nearby wineries are fun to travel to on day trips.
CartoonN
Great park! Wonderful way to spend Memorial Day!
Michael
Well maintained state park. We happened to rent a cottage and it was amazing. Well worth the rental price. The only downfall was that the swimming area was closed due to lack of funds for a lifeguard. That seemed really odd considering how full the park was with campers and tents. If the state governor would actually put funding where it should go, like for a lifeguard, i would have given 5 stars. The park employees were extremly nice and helpful and made it a great experience as well.
Joseph Palumbo
Had a wonderful time. Management was pretty good first class operation. Met a lot of nice people there. Luckily it was Friday had a great band. Will be back.
Fletcher Burdett
A good park with an Armed Forces Memorial museum. Lots to see and do here as it's also close to other area state parks that have beautiful gorges with falls. If you have a tall 5th wheel, you should avoid the low railroad underpass that's just north of the park on 96A.
Tammy Capizzi
Very pretty. 56 miles of roadway for bicycles.
Jim Chamberlain
Excellent park with lots of space, many picnic tables with grills, and a great beach and swimming area (not much use yesterday as the, water is a little cold still, but sandy beach and playground, as well as fishing, were popular!) We were a little disappointed that the Camp Store had closed at one PM, but had a terrific picnic.
We also visited the Air Force and Naval Museum which is in the park on th he left as you drive in. In addition to friendly docents, a Korean War AF veteran provided us with a great tour
Matt Dupree
Our family has been coming here yearly for decades... Hands down our favorite NY State Park to camp at. Being the park was previously a Navy and then Airforce military base there is alot of cool history here! 5 camping loops have electric hook-up on each site, each loop with their own well maintained bathhouse including restrooms and hot showers. Most sites are large and a good share of them have shade. Other features include large playgrounds for the kids, beach for swimming, arcade, picnic shelters and a newly renovated marina as of Summer 2019 including the boat launch. Great park for boating, kayaking and biking! Don't forget to stop and visit the Sampson military memorial museum during your stay!
brent Smith
First experience was...well...ok. willing to go back. They first tried to put us in a field with no shade. We told em that wouldn't work cause we have a baby with us. They moved us to a super tiny shaded spot in one of the loops...for an extra charge for course. We told them we had a big tent and another family coming.. so eventually we paid for the site next to it as well... Wasn't a bad experience,,, and the staff was nice and helpful.. just with the sites were laid out better on line.. so you knew exactly what you were getting
Tim Rice
We always stay at Sampson when camping in the Finger Lakes. Right on Seneca Lake, it has everything you need. A variety if camping options, including State cabins right on the Lake as well as commercially operated cabins and long term RV sites. A recently updated marina w a boaters store. And a concession stand with all the amenities. Check it out on line.
Ronald Healey
Clean sites and facilities. Responsive staff. Nice beach and playground. Some sites could use water drainage help
Retriever19 Golden
Beautiful park, larger than it looks, many campsites and some boat slips; also a military museum and an attached military cemetery. Close to many wine trails, easy driving distance to Geneva's restaurants and shops, and to Taughannock Falls State Park, which has the highest waterfall in the Eastern states, but much less busy than Taughannock and easier to get a campsite.
Terilee Shultis
Sampson State Park is an absolutely AWESOME place to go! My family and I were camping there this weekend. Every thing was clean and well kept up. I highly recommend it!
Maggie Bieganowski
Love Sampson! We come here a few times a year for years now! Clean, staff is friendly, and almost everyone who visits here is respectful. My only suggestion would be to park out where sites are since some people can't seem to figure it out and park on your site instead of theirs. The road way coming in is rough. Loops and sites are nice and well maintained. Bathrooms are clean.
Peter Wigley
Samson is probably the best Marina I've ever berthed at. Loved it!
Elsie Zimmerman
Beautiful park! It is right beside the water and is very well maintained.
Teresa Higgins
Nice camp sites. Beautiful park on Seneca Lake. The museum is a must see. Lots of wineries and some breweries to check out around Seneca Lake. Watkins Glen is a beautiful park to hike, about 30-45 min. away.
Unai Anton Saenz
Very nice beach park, with plenty of tables and grills, and a big playground area just in front of the beach. There is also a marina and a camp area. The beach area is small but enough for a refreshing bath.
Rich Ochs
Sampson is such a large, spread out park which is nice with a pandemic going on and you still want to be able to enjoy nature somewhere. They've installed many new cabins and a new camping area which is called Samsen. The cabins seem really nice!
Connor Fanks
Haven't been in the military museum but the planes and boats on the outside are cool. Also has a very nice marina.
Bob Morrison
Beautiful area, well kept grounds. RV hookups to water or electric are not easily accessible - my electric connection was 100 ft from the RV, water was 100 ft away and across the road. Plan not to hook up and you'll be fine
John R
Best state park hands down and the new marina is awesome
JoAnne Owens
The campsites are fairly large, we had electric only, took some leveling. Bathrooms clean, good showers.
Kathy Stewart
Always enjoy coming here. All the old roads from when it use to be a base make walking around the campground easy and interesting. They have some areas marked with plaques that show what use to be there back when it was an active military base.
E
Sampson State Park is beautiful no doubt. They have redone the marina which is now amazing, and have built cabins to rent. However, they havent done anything to improve the campground areas. Sites are spacious but some are really not even useable. The restrooms are gross, and obviously haven't been updated in YEARS!! Seems like they are catering to “big money”, and forgetting the thousands of people that are camping there every year. 🙁 ONE dump station for the entire park. UNACCEPTABLE ! Plan on waiting for hours.
Tom Roule
Sampson is a great NY state park with large campsites, a marina, beach and a museum of the wwII navel base and Korean War air Force Base.
350 sites have 30 & 20 amp electric but no other connections. With only two dump stations, it can take two hours in line to dump your RV on Sunday.
Like other state parks, you must use Reserve America at $6 per reservation. Plan a weekend visit well in advance.
Sandra Austin
Every time we camp here I love it more. Larger sites, exceptionally clean and maintained grounds. Bathrooms very clean and well lighted
Nice Beach for family swimming
.To the side of the beach is an area where pets can swim. MY VERY FAVORITE..TO GO TO.. CAMPGROUNDS.
John Jocko
Great place for family and friends!! Loved it
Glenn Capron
Very nice semi well maintained. Roads suck and it could use more dump stations. Also the loop 6 sites have zero facilities. It could use a central bath house. If u tent camp or r not self contained the nearest restrooms and showers are super far away and there is no water avaliable either.
Joseph “GrinkoN” Ruthven
Cool place to camp, walk, bike, etc. Be sure to check out the Sampson-Willard trail. Find the shore and collect fossils or lake glass.
Larry Williams
Great park to celebrate our military history being it was once a airfield back in WWll. It has a nice museum of its history.
Very nice family campground in the middle of the finger lake wine country .
tuneman59
We have camped here for about 30 years and have really liked it. Sadly, it's not what it used to be. Hard to get in there on the weekend. It's a state park so electric only as far as hookups with water nearby, no sewer hookup. The sites were always nice and big but I see that upgrades are going on. Big fancy so called cabins for the rich, blocking the lake view, etc..... Unfortunately, it looks like the sites are shrinking to try and stuff more people into the loops. Good for them, not good for people who rent the sites to get away from that kind of thing. It's sad really!!!
Carrie Natale
This park used to be a navy base during the WWII era. It is a large park with camping, swimming, a marina, hiking, concession stand, basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds, ping pong, and multiple bathroom/shower facilities. There is even a military museum on hand. It is totally worth the $8 parking fee to visit. If you like geocaching, there are many geocaches at the park. Sampson State Park is not to be missed!
james murray
If they parked today it was very nice well kept I enjoyed the museum. The lake is beautiful there is camping available there is also hunting.
Jodi Prell
This is probably one of my favorite campgrounds. With the history the park has you feel almost like you are back in time. Of great laid back hospitality. Easy access to walking trails to the beach. Large camping sites.
Samantha OHora
Looked at the Military Museum equipment displayed outside as the museum was closed. So interesting!! I would have enjoyed reading plaques or signs about what each piece was and its use but there weren't any.
Vicki Casey
Very clean, well kept and beautiful campgrounds. Restrooms and showers clean. We had reservations but arrived at 4:50pm and the office was closed. We completed the late check-in as instructed. The lady in the office the next morning was a little snooty saying we didn't check in correctly. Once I informed her that we did do it correctly and she realized it was her mistake, she changed her attitude. That being said, we enjoyed our stay and will return to stay here when we are in the Finger Lakes region. Sure wish they had full Hook-up.
Gary Amsler
Quiet park, large lot with fire ring. Clean and well kept. Electrical boxes are located where you will need to have a 30 amp extension cord if you want shore power. There is no water hookup, so make sure to fill your potable tank before hand. 15 miles to the nearest Walmart and civilization.
Ishan A B Ambanwela
Very beautiful and calm place with plenty of camping spots. There is a beautiful beach at walking distance and a small store which is open until 8 p.m. where you can buy a cofee or an ice cream. I bought camping firewood paying 2 bucks extra, because I was traveling on my motorcycle.
Arika Whitaker
Very nice place to go an not to far from the camp sites.the playground was huge by fat I didn't expect that but over all great location
Jenn Unger
Lots of beautiful beaches and shoreline. Many camping sites as well as cabins. Boat docks are great. Got in and out with ease. Much to see! Great place! War museum on site!
Zenn Loo
This park is a gem. a lot of old military roads are now used as paved Trails which is great for biking.. and really just taking in some of the surrounding area. this park is right on the lake so you have great views and boat launches.
if you're into military history there is also a museum as well as some really nice artifacts in the center of the park. The museum goes into how this old military base supported the war effort in World War and the Korean War.
We are here for an event and as a venue; this park shines. The volunteer staff is bend over backwards helpful for event parking and even helping you understand the history behind this place.
If you are visiting just recreationally there is a lot to take in and enjoy especially those long paved paths.... Some of them are beginning to crumble but it's some of the nicest bikking I have had in awhile.
RA Hensel
It's nice, but you can't fish from the docks that fishing license fees helped pay for and you can't hunt small game with a hawk during deer seasons. Basically from beginning of October until the week before Christmas.
Lawrence Scott
A clean park plenty of room for family doing
Renee VanGalder
This was our first time camping with our RV. We had an amazing trip. The neighbors were all helpful and friendly. The view of the lake was beautiful. We will definitely be returning.
Robert Mcafee
This is a great camp ground lots of trail's very pet friendly just needs to upgrade to 50amp service
David D
Huge state park. Camped there one night on a bike trip. Obnoxious RV ran a generator 24hrs a day. Neighboor site talked till 1am. Not patrolled by rangers.
Recommend going into a quiet corner set up if you want quiet. Great bath house. You can enter and exit on the north or south sides along the water via bike to avoid main entrance
Jim Breitwieser
Excellent campground and plenty of area attractions. Clean restrooms and the grounds are kept neat. Been there many times and always pleased.
Millard Smallwood
Turned out to be a nice stay with a nice campsite. Camping is wonderful in the fall. Less crowded and quiet.
Lois McCormack
We have been camping here for 20 years with our family. Nice sites. Larger than most campgrounds. Hard to reserve on weekends.
Sue Ann Fisher
Beautiful park, well maintained. Recently renovated marina complete with an amazing canoe/kayak launch dock. Can't wait to go back with my kayak!
Tim Spina
This state park as emerged into the Premier NYS Park. Inside 2 years from now. This will be BY FAR the most desired camping and boating destination.
Ronald Gilbert
One of my favorite state park campgrounds. Old military training base turned into a 300+ site campground on Seneca Lake with boat launch, swimming beach, many bicycling roadways, and museum showing history of the training base years.
Lisa Dewilde-Tyler
Off the beaten path.....this place is a little time capsule from a time during WW2. Was used as a basic training area, however, most all the buidings are long gone. The museum is located in an area where the old brig was, with the original jail cells still in place. This is not a large place; we were not camping but my husband had wanted to check out the old air base. I found the place to have on overall haunted feeling. The federal government is not involved with the upkeep. Beautifully situated, but once was enough.
Sandeep Sharma
Neat place tucked along the Seneca Lake. This place has one of the most beautiful sunset one can view. This place has nice cabins built in the park. Perfect for a weekenr getaway.
Barbara Elmore
Sampson is our favorite camping place!
The sites are nice. You can walk, ride bike, fish, or play yard games. Great place for family vacation with many in your group.
Tom Scoles
Great place to enjoy the weather and music on a friday night !
Kathy B.
Very nice park. Staff is nice and happy to help. Too many campers though. Not like real camping.
Eric Schiffman
Very nice and open park. Lake trail is nice with some various paths down to the water. The dogs love it!
Ethan Barningham
Campground was perfectly located next to the lake. The facilities were very clean and well-maintained. A great camping experience.
Tami Dickerson
Took my 7yo granddaughter, it was wonderful! A sandy beach staffed with lifeguards, a large playground, and a concessions area with outdoor seating. A great place for families, we will be coming back!
Marcos Davila
I havent been here in awile and I love this place always it's always nice out and the lake view from the campsite it amazing and not too buggy either. Also had a nice time walking down to the beach and watching the boats and seagulls go by truly an amazing campground
Sigrid Popowitch
Soo many trails and lake access.
Donald Johnson
Gorgeous park, great facilities, nice size rv sites
justin tani
Plenty of trails to walk along of the beaten path. Feels like being in an apocalyptic movie with all the abandoned roads buildings and fire hydrants. Plenty of info plaques to explain everything for history buffs. Camping galore and great scenery right by Seneca lake.
Daniel Roach
Wonderful state park with clean campground and plenty of activities for kids
William Grainge
Very nice campground, very spacious between sites, clean bathrooms, overall good experience, will stay here again
Veronica Nizhikioyskaya
Chill state park that actually utilizes our tax money wisely and efficiently. Not your typical NY lib park 😘 …
Laroy Burgess
5 Stars for a State Park. This park has 30 amp service only at the sites. Also no rigs bigger than 40'. Bathhouse is clean and the park is well maintained.
Naneese Bonnell
I went to the park for the Wine Country dog show. The grounds are beautiful. Traffic was managed by some very nice gentleman. Look forward to returning next year, for the dog show
Jessica mayo
Loved this place growing up. Still love it but they haven't fixed the roads or done much upkeep. Maybe if the state would fund our state parks better this place would be as wonderful as it used to be.
Mark J. Radzikowski
Plenty of parking
Clean beach with attentive lifeguards in swim area
Snack Bar on site
Clean bath house facilities
Some military history on this location
Museum on-site (we didn't visit but plan on returning)
David Weber
Bring your fishing poles, the concession stand sells the finest worms in all the land.
Tracy Mills
Generous sized campsites. Great Park for biking. Great new marina w/ gas & diesel. Small beach but sufficient. Great for kayaking.
Larry
Loved it. Beautiful place to visit
Jake Wilson
Museum is tons of fun and done really well!! Some of the campsites could be in better shape though, they need more gravel and leveling.
caryn
I have always loved Sampson State park. Back in the mid 60's our family drove from Rochester every weekend during the summers. There was so much to do and so many other kids our ages to do it with. My fondest childhood memories are of those summers.
One summer, Bob the lifeguard had a Honda 90 motorcycle he drove to work. With my parents permission, I convinced him to take me for a ride on it. I was forever hooked and spent the next several months working, baby sitting, saving school lunch money, etc. so come Feb I could buy my own Honda 90. I'd turned 16 yrs old. That was also the year New York State passed the motorcycle license law making me one of the first to get one. Couldn't wait to show Bob when we started camping again that summer, but he had moved on and a new lifeguard, Ray had taken his place.
That was over 54 yrs ago and I've been riding motorcycles in the US and several other countries ever since. In fact, I rarely drive a car. That one ride back in 1965 changed my life! I've been wanting to thank Bob ever since.
How can I thank you Robert Greene? You have no idea how big an impact you made by that one simple act of kindness for someone you probably don't even remember! Thank you AND thank Sampson State Park.
Caryn Van Zandt- Ocala, Fl. [email protected]
Tina Goodsell
Great place to camp, picnic, swim and spend time with family. It also has an awesome Military Museum right on site you definitely need to check out!!!
Jon
Sampson State Park is a well maintained facility, centrally located in the Finger Lakes. The trailer sites, at least the ones in Loop 5 are steeper than expected and could be better graded. Keep your eyes out for white deer when driving north past the former Seneca Army Depot!
Erik Stoneham
Lovely access to water. Very rough roads. Has a military museum. A lot of camper access.
fourjudge
One of the best state parks. Lots to do, great camp store, swimming beach, excellent lake views.
Roger Kent
Very clean n roomy. We where to park on gravel only. But couldn't reach electric service. Only shade closer to electric service n behind camper. Needs more trees, woodzie...
Ron Just Digging Life
Great place for a dog show. Beautiful lake and huge park with camping trails and a beach.
Dawn Woodburn
Very beautiful and peaceful. The people there were very friendly and helpful. A beautiful and fun place for families to explore!!!
Brian Edwards
We're here for Memorial Day Weekend, even though it's been a wet Spring the park and grounds are in good order.... The views and trails are great for walks or biking
Jeremiah Schmidt
This place is very nice and quiet. The camp sites are roomy and are spaced out enough to have tons of company. I just adore this place to camp.
Jonathan Lanning
Great place for camping, rv or tent. Bathrooms are well kept, sites are roomy with partial shade, lots of paved roads for biking, lake access for swimming/dogs/small boats.
K M
Sampson State Park is a beautiful, well-kept New York State Park in the heart of the Fingerlakes. As a past military base, it has a great history. You can camp, bike, picnic, rent a cabin, take a drive, go boating, and tour it's military museum. Sampson has some great weekends such as the antique RVs and the Wine Country dog show.
Natalie Aroubas
Beautiful lake to swim in. Lifeguard on premises. Great playground for ages 5 and up.
Fishing pier available too.
Beth Deitrick
We love Sampson Park. It is our go to place for a great mix of relaxation and exercise. They have a great meuseum to teach you all about the history of this amazing section of New York. I feel like I'm standing on a very important piece of this country's past.
The next minute I will be swimming in the crisp, cool waters of Seneca Lake. They have placed a raft off the shore that is used for swimming in the deeper waters, it's so much fun and great exercise.
Sampson Park is a gem in Central New York
Ev Luci
FYI if your renting site#232 on loop 5, be advised that the entire campground thinks this is a public walk through site to get down to the lake..totally annoying and not private at all... had to put up with a steady stream of people walking through our site, kayaks and all, for the entire 7 days we were here...never again!
Fred S
This is a great place to camp, swim, walk, or just have a vacation
Cathy Sommers
We LOVE Sampson State Park! Come 2-3 times each summer/ fall. Sites are spacious, close to wineries and anything else you would need.
Stephan Connors
Great site on Seneca lake, nice cabins and RV campsites we were there in winter just to walk along the lake on a cold brisk sunny day.
Tom McCormack III
We come here once a year. The kids always have fun. There's two playgrounds and a beach with a floating dock. There's also a small arcade with ping pong. There's also a Navy museum.
Topace 103
This State Camp Ground is close to many hiking paths which is great if you like to hike. Most of these routes go through the old military facility located there.
Daniel Harris
Nice park, the grounds are well kept and the lake is nice. Hiking trail isn't easy to find, we found one by passing the maintenance building, heading north another half mile along the lake.
Larry Wolfe
Love to camp here ,always a great time. Always here for dog show
Linda Stoutenger
Great fishing,nice looking campsites
Sharon Lee E.
Great park just wont give a 5 star because it doesn't have a spray park live geneva lake those for the kids, I have 4 small children's of my own and i think that will be a great thing to put at that park.
Jean Lowden
Great camping area and also nice cabins to rent... beautiful park very well maintained and lots of things to do....
chris audioun

one of our favorite places to camp. They have two awesome playgrounds for kids. One is up top and the other is on the lake.
Samir El Mahdaoui
Great place, we had good times. Family oriented with things for kids to do locally or in near by areas.
Sims Family
Beautiful sunset views and clean facilities.
Timmy DeMott
Very nice campsites.
Ruth Peoples
Wonderful camping experience here, with large sites not too close together. Electric at the campsites, and a dump station with portable water available to fill your water tank
Olivia Koschara
Amazing place! Great for families with kids. Playgrounds are exceptional and cater to older kids too
T Cochran
Great playground for my daughter's two and four years old, shaded picnic areas, and excellent indoor Visitor Center with exhibits to see and interact with during your visit.
jeff meacham
Very nice park with decent camp sites. Plenty of things to do and places to explore.
Elizabeth Smallwood
Beautiful park with lots of trails for bikes or hiking. Very nice beach and marina. There are several beautiful cottages on the Lakeshore.

My time at Sampson park with my family and friends was fun and I enjoyed myself except only downfall to it was that I have allergies and I ended up with very bad sinuses/allergies for a week and a half or so otherwise Very nice and peaceful loved it!!!!!
