Reviews of Washington State Park
Christa Bartley
We rented a 2 bedroom cabin for 5 days. We were able to bring our dog. The cabin was very clean and surrounded by trees so you can't see cabins on the other side of you but you can see the ones across the street. There is minimal cookware in the kitchen (only one frying pan so you can't make bacon and eggs at the same time). There was no bedding in the cabin for the sofa bed the first night, unfortunately we realized that after the office was closed so my son had sleep on the couch covered in beach towels. Definitely check to make sure you have linens before the store closes. The park itself was nice. The girl in the store wasn't very knowledgeable when we asked her about fishing and stuff. There is a pool, the fee is $8 a person even if you won't be swimming and are there just to watch your kids. While the pool water was clear, the walls of the pool were covered in slimy green algae which was gross.

Beautiful Fall camping on the basic site. A little rocky soil but that's common in MO state parks at the campgrounds. Nice views and trails and all the staff and fellow campers were friendly.
The Present Moment
Great open park with cliffs and rolling hills. I went when it was December so no one was there. They have Petroglyphs to look at, trails, boat ramps, the Big River access, pool, RV and camp sites, cabins, little store. Very cool State Park to visit or stay the weekend.
Dob Dobbin
Wonderful state park with tons of amenities and accommodations on site. There is a lodge, a swimming pool, a playground, camping, three different hiking trails of varying difficulty, and a river with fishing and beach access. There are also Petroglyphs for you to view. Don't miss out on this wonderful gem of a State Park.
joshua pullen
Great place, lots of fun for the whole family. Swimming, kayaking, hiking, if you love the outdoors youve gotta visit.
Plus there are some sweet spots for fishing
Olivia Aguirre
Washington State Park was a lot of fun. We camped for a few days. The park host was great and provided recycling bags. The shower house is great, cleaned everyday, and very close to the electric sites! We enjoyed the petroglyphs, overlook, trails, playground, swimming pool, and park store. We will definitely be back again!
Xavier Scott
Camped here in December as it was open even in the off-season, great spot and the trails are very clearly marked. Petroglyphs are also the main attraction and the "maps" to show you what you're looking at were very helpful.
Kevin Gerstenecker
Very nice State Park. Smaller campground than some other parks, but the sites are paved and for the most part, pretty level. Nice hiking trails and good access to the Nig River. Many playground and picnic areas, and some scenic views too. As like most Missouri state parks, it's well maintained and beautiful.
E C
This park is one of those hidden gems in Missouri. The trails are beautiful and the river system is great for hanging out and wading in.
Always enjoy spending time here.
Don T
Hiked opossum trail and it was wonderful. Good times with good friends. The petroglyphs from the Native Americans were also very amazing. Hope that are visible in the photos
Hugh Boyle
The Boulder trails are awesome, we'll kept. And plenty of opportunities to go off trail and climb
Olivia
I love this state park. There's a lot to do here including hiking, swimming, picnicking, camping, and viewing Native American petroglyphs. The campground is very well maintained and there are some friendly stray cats there.
Ashley Coble
Love this park! It's our favorite place to take float trips! The 3 mile float is calm and easy. Great for beginners!
Bill Dunaway
The cabins are perfect for a comfortable getaway. The park is quiet and it was a hassle free experience for us.
OrangePotato
Great place if you can get in. Only 1-25 have 30amp. Rest of no power at all! Have a pool you'll have to pay separately. River was nice, a short 3 minute drive from the campsite. Lots of bathrooms around the campsite and clean!
DJ Clonts
We drove thru most of the park because the petroglyphs was our main interest.
Amy Monti
Our first camping trip on the bike! Love Washington State Park every time we visit. Beautiful scenery throughout the park, many things to do and very nice campsites!
Leah MANNING
Just a beautiful place to be. Lots of fun and friendly people.
Cord Blumenstock
Great family location, fishing, swimming, hiking, swimming pool, camping, pavilion for gatherings, the list goes on. Make sure and check out the petroglyphs! Rock carvings from the local Native American tribes.
Floyd IAm
Beautiful fall color changes. Enjoyed the petroglyphs and lodge.
Aaron Barbee (A-A-Ron)
You're a jerk if you rate a state park less than 5 stars - it's free outdoor 'entertainment'. ;) Took my kiddo and dog here for a hike, which was pretty adventurous on the rockywood trail since it rained the entire day before we got there.
Rockywood trail was very well-marked and we ended up with just under 7 miles. Roads were nice, lots of parking. Didn't see but maybe 1 port a potty, but we weren't exploring the rest of the park. Add this one to your list, folks. :)
Ann Hilstrom
Today my granddaughter has her high school graduation party at Washington State Park :). It was a nice gathering, even though it was a HOT 🔥 July day... In the afternoon, the kids went to the river to cool off. They all enjoyed themselves, from the youngest, who was 4 yrs old, to the graduate, who was 18 1/2 yrs old. It was great, seeing 5 of my 7 grandchildren having fun together 🙃. This park is very nice and actually a campers dream spot, if your into camping, hiking and wildlife.
Seth Lindsey
I almost hate to leave a glowing review of Washington State Park to keep it a secret. When we came on a Friday morning, we only passed one person on the trail! The scenery is amazing, and I'd compare it to the grandeur of Hawn State Park. The only downfall to this park is the highway being so close for certain portions of the Rockywood Trail and the resulting noise, but still plenty to enjoy. The signage for trail location wasn't great, and Rockywood Trail access from the petroglyph trailhead was a bit hidden, but the glade it concealed was pretty great.
Well worth the brief drive from STL.
Gordie Hanna
This is a beautiful park. The petroglyphs are hard to see due to erosion, but worth checking out. The trails are beautiful and not too challenging. Just watch for ticks. There are cliffs at the lookout points, so keep a close eye on children and use caution. The beach is more rocky than sandy. There are warnings about lead contamination in the water. The whole area is full of beautiful geodes! Also, there were tons of beautiful butterflies when we were there in July. Be careful driving the winding, steep hills. Otherwise, enjoy!
John Griner
Very neat park, stopped and saw the rock carvings, the river and the overlook... Definitely want to check out the cabins when they open for the season.
Robert Robertson
Really nice swimming area by the Thunderbird Lodge area if the park. Right on a bend on the Big River. Go to the middle and let the current float you. A great way to cool off on a hot afternoon.
River Wolfe (NomadicGypsy)
Took my puppy for a short hike here. It was nice, she loved all the different smells.
Shadow Force
Love this place. I highly recommend coming in to see the petroglyphs. The glyphs are very interesting, in fact extremely similar to petroglyph park near Truman State. The Spirals are my absolute favorite thing to view. I think the represent the big question..where are we from? The Spirals are a key🤔 Near the glyphs there's many large outcrops of manipulated rock features made for processing grains, nuts and meat's. They are a metates and some for washing clothes as they have wash board ripples sanded into them...see my pics

Washington state park, is an absolutely beautiful state park. The work the Civilian Conservation Corps did in this park is absolutely beautiful the masonry the stone work, undescribable. The 1000 steps Trail is an absolute must-see. It is more than a thousand steps and it is a climb, so take your time and take in the Beautiful flowers and trees around you.
Kenneth “Richard Goesnya” Thomas III
Great place for everyone to visit. Lots of wildlife. The trails are maintained and even the restrooms are clean.
The down side is some of the visitors seem to think it's ok to throw their trash on the ground. SMH...
Boyd Dunn
Went down for an overnight campout with the wife, great campsite with all amenities, bathrooms, showers, fireplace, grill. They also have pull through setups for r.v.'s. Swimming in the Big River and canoe rentals for float trips. Only an hour from St. Louis, the wife and I had a great time.
Andi Carrow
We love this place and stay here at least 5 to 6 times every season. It's definitely one of the best camping in the area. It's not for the campers that want to party all night as it has quiet hours. It has a paid public pool and a fantastic picnic area with a rock beach. Most of the primitive sites are shaded and private and within walking distance to the bathrooms. There are fewer electric sites and that side is usually full so call ahead if you want those. The shower houses are spotless and it has an on site laundry and store. Just recently they started offering floating but I'm not sure about the specifics. The campground hosts are friendly and go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcomed. The park ranger is so helpful and friendly. The rates are more than reasonable and you are charged per site, not per camper, which is a rare find these days.
Scott Reinhardt II
Access to the big river and great swimming. Diverse fauna of wildlife. Especially reptiles. Tarantulas and scorpions can also be found here on the glades. Playground equipment for children and grills to BBQ/grill on. Camping is welcomed.
Keith Shedron
Nice park. Clean day use areas and campground looked well maintained. Nice place to spend time by the river.
Tammie Kruse
It’s a small RV park, but the sites are great, Trails are beautiful, the Thousand step trail is good for those who love a challenge. Very nice place to stay or visit for a day.
Reverend Gary C.W. Richards CrazyBearDaddyGR
Beautiful Place, but needs some improvements on some buildings and grounds. Great place to take family outtings to fish, swim, hike, camping / cabin spots and etc.
Amber Smith
Went camping overnight. Bathrooms clean. Sites clean. Easy to get to. Checked out the surrounding area. Lots to do. Seems like a big park. Will stay again.
rocket leg gaming
Super nice place cabins are kept nice and i come down here every year with friends and it's so fun with the river and the cliff totally recommend.
Ischa
I love to go hiking with my family here it is so beautiful in spring! The trails are lit up with flowers.
Cheryl Stock
We came to this park in order to do some RV camping and to do some kayaking in the nearby Big River. Turns out we didn't put in the kayak but the camping was delightful. The RV campsite is not very large but it's laid out beautifully and is possibly one of the cleanest and nicest in the Missouri State Park system. The extra touches include a swimming pool, some great hiking trails, oversized camping sites for the RVs, some are pull through, and even a brand new shower house (including soap in the bathroom!).
Chanda Burns
Hiking trails need to be cleared, but still a great place. Did the red loop/6 miles with two kids. They had a blast. Saw turtles, all sorts of bugs and old buildings.
Barbara Richards
Great place to camp. Hospitality was the best ever! WE were there 2 weeks, 6/3 - 6/18/19!
Dennis Menard
Amazingly beautiful! Heavily wooded, trails, cabins, tent camping, right in the big river with a small beach… kids would love it! The tent camping area is paved and has a playground, so it’s perfect to bring the kids bikes. Such a beautiful and large park! Lots of fun for all ages.
Bryonie Mancuso
My daughter and son in-law picked this spot for their wedding ceremony it was perfect very beautiful
Carol Hough
This small park is an unexpected gem. Very quiet and low usage during the week and respectful weekend campers. Most tent sites are shady and well spaced. Electric loop, most outside loop sites are large and shady. Inside of the loop has some trees but mostly sun.
Bathrooms are clean and showers are hot.
Walking trails, lodge, big river, friendly place. Best campground within a 50 mile radius
Alisia Crafton
Beautiful park with plenty of hiking trails & picnic areas. Easy access to the Big River.
Fighting Mimi
Great place to cool off. Easy to find and was a blast.
Kathy Ottens
Beautiful views of the Missouri landscape and a river runs through it. Great for swimming, fishing and camping.
Nikki Travel
Sweet little spot to swim for the day, fish, float the river, barbecue 😋 whatever your heart desires. There is a great little gift shop as well that has ICE! 😁 …
Sarah Lee
Doyle, Dawn and the entire staff season after season are amazing!
Kelly Clark
Great place to explore! We love hiking here!
Lynn Terrell-Stone
Nice camp ground. Trails that will challenge you with slope and terrain but reward you with beautiful views and sights.
Amber Wills
Love this park the trails the beach and the campground is all worth it I don't have any bad things to say
Kadie Crivello
Wonderful park with tons to do! Love the swimming hole
Justin Love
The campsite was very large and nice. There was a playground for the kids, bathrooms were clean, and people seemed friendly.
There were some nice trails to walk on, though they were a little rougher than I was expecting. Hanging out by the "big" river was a delight.
However...there were some noisy late night campers that were hard to ignore. Playing loud music into the night and and talking insanely loud. Wish they would be more on top of that type of thing.
Mikee B
Nice moderate hiking trails & nit many people in the park today.
EMC C
Beautiful place but the trails are tough, rugged. Be prepared and have hiking supplies because it will take you several hours to hike the trails. The dogs loved it! The views are excellent and worth the challenge.
Lisa Engle
Nice cabin. Clean comfortable. Great access to the Big River
Andrea
We have family vacation here every year! We love this place.
Dustin Schwartz
Nice campground close to home! Clean and well kept. Had trick-or-treating for the kiddos as well.
Alexander Haber
Great state park, very quiet, great kayak and tubing rental, nice campground
Maria Pachoco
Perfect place to camp if you have RV's, to medidate or just appreciate the nature on their overlooking area, and enjoy water activities on the lake. And also, a little history with the Petroglyphs
Angelia Breedlove-Harris
I always love spending time here. Have been going Washington State Park since I was a little girl, and it's always a beautiful place to be.
James Missey
Beautiful...very clean, and very nice and respected helpers and not to forget fellow visitors...Big Fuckintastic Thanks
Tony Hinson
Spent the weekend camping here. Camp hosts are great! Nice small campground with lots of room. Several nice trails to hike and beautiful old CCC structures.
Betty Sanders
Cabins were clean.well equipped. Roomy and lovely. Lovely time.
Michael Johnson
Great kayak float not to crowded. Beautiful river and friendly people and plenty of parking
Doug B
Sure has changed from when I was avid but really looks nice and beautiful
Steve Siadek
Went on a River float. Water on low side. Not much current in some places. Raft was better than tubes. Fun, tho. Will do again soon. Staff very friendly
Gene S
Family oriented State Park, not dominated by RV'ers or any groups. The old campground was along the Big River in the flats below the visitor center and old cave, flooding changed it to being up on top of the hills. Very popular swimming hole in the Summertime. Has a modern cabin section as well. Plenty of hiking, fishing, and climbing steep hillsides here. Caters to a lot of people. If you pull a trailer I recommend you follow the roads as marked if you go, they are good roads here for those paying attention to the signs?
Grant Landrum
Nice trails, and beautiful views! Being able to swim in the river was nice too
Ryan Fraser
Great camping, gorgeous views and hiking. No water hookups but outside of that, it's fantastic!
Angela AuBuchon
A favorite of park mine. It has great trails, Indian carvings, a kid friendly pool and river access.
Julie L
Good park nice trails
JoAnna “Momma Jo” Wiley
Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri was in the special reservation area and we had a blast camping out for two nights in a row.
Jeff Lee
We live close and its a good place to play and hike. The view point and the petraglyphs are pretty cool. Its crowded in the summer for swimming at the river though. Still a good spot.
Elke Overton
Fun in the river and nice campground. Not the best river for floating, but super easy float… a bit slow.
Christopher Noice
We did the float trip here, the family had a lot of fun.
Larry Yochum
Good campground. Has shower houses. Large lots. Basic sites could use a little TLC. Trails were not well kept. Has activities in the evening occasionally. Hours of facilities are scaled back.
Victoria Fernandez
we camped with a tent at the basic campground area. Everything was clean, the toilets and showers ran perfectly with warm water. playground area for the little ones. It "only" has three hike trails but allows for all fitness levels. we will certainly repeat since we didn't get to try the pool
Jessica Ryan
Petroglyphs are amazing and interesting. Really nice campground and park.
Bettina Tarpeo
Such a beautiful place to unwind from the everyday hassle. Clean park with a lot to offer during the season. Cabins available to rent if needed. They have primitive camping, RV hookup and electric camping spots if that's what you are looking for. Many great summer programs as well.
ashley Richardson
A little bit of fun for everyone! Pool, camping, hiking, floating. Great views!
Jo Anne Marino
Beautiful park, nice trails. Quite empty this past week.
Jonathan Rieck
Great park, lovely overlooks, easy floats and kayaking with lots of animal sights (turtles, water snakes, cranes, lizards, frogs, and more!) and upstanding service from the family who runs the lodge and kayak rentals. We got caught in a few tricky situations, and Meg was incredibly kind, helpful, and supportive. I would absolutely recommend coming here and will be coming back in the future!
Alex Mueller
Solid state park with lots of fun activities such floating down the Big River.
Shannon Dunn
Last minute camping trip, close to home.
Had a great time.
Nick Letner
No 30$ charges for a basic sight here! Cheaper than most campgrounds, and fairly quite. Always enjoy my stay here! The hosts are no longer allowed to sell ice or firewood so you will have to get that elsewhere unfortunately.
Sheila Stuthers
Beautiful riverGood place to BBQ
Jesse Diekmann
Great park a treasure, the mineral fork and big river converge there as well. Great kayaking
Josh Eye
Gorgeous scenery. Loved the views.
Paul Furrer
This is a great Park, which offers peace and tranquility, as well as plenty of opportunities for fun. The beach area is in serious need of some TLC, but we've thoroughly enjoyed our visits to Washington State Park. It's well worth the 55 minute drive, from South Country.
Betty Vanderhooven-SchmaaSchmaa
Well maintained State Park. Beautiful petroglyphs.
Stephanie Niesen
We called last minute on a Friday, to see if we could come camp just one night. The host was very accommodating! The camp sites are clean and look well kept. Since we stayed off-season, the shower facilities are closed so I cannot rate those. Thank you!
Christopher Burton
Family friendly park and Riverside fun
Robert Reynolds
A spectacular kayak float very enjoyable and calm not to big of a current but it was very fun
Nora Tary
We enjoy this park .We rent the cabins I usually don't take our pups but this last week we took them.. Perfect place the pups loved it. The staff are a cut above and so are the owners.
Adam Gardner
Another amazing Missouri State Park. ❤️
Scout and Scamp
Beautiful forest with lots of fun stuff to do and see. The campground was one of my favorites in the nation. The just built a new shower house and it was so clean and had nice hot water bonus points for being a private room. Super friendly hosts too.
Tina Houska
Wonderful place to camp and rent a cabin for the weekend!!!!
Nic
Nice hiking trails. The owners of the pool and camping area really friendly, helpful, and do their very best to be accommodating! They get 5 stars for me! However, the beach area and river could really use a cleaning up! The park service cleaning department should make this a better place for family's!
G P
Rented a cabin for the weekend. Very clean and comfortable
Rashid Jenkins
Beautiful scenery, camp lodges, big river
Bryce Lickfield
Very clean and nice rangers. Really a gem of a park with different well cleared trails and fantastic views. I will say there is one fella there that is not to keen on giving you a map. If you approach him be prepared to trade the finest treasures of the land for his valuable paper lines.
Rebecca Clubb (Bekki)
Lots of things to do. Swim, canoe, lookouts, trails.... even some American Indian carvings.
BadASS Chass
Awesome place loved it and will go back
Míguel Acosta
Spent the weekend camping. Great hiking trails with clear and visible markers. Loved the camping experience.
Rolf Gelert
Always good but weird in 2020 with everyone camping to get away. Had laser light show with electronica across the way in primitive loop and middle aged woman throwing a dance party 2 sites down. Good hiking and swimming but proximity to larger populations packs this spot
Jason Parsons
Great views, great hikes, & fun river for rafting & swimming.
JWIEGRAFFE
I think this place is extremely underrated by St. Louisans for day trips. Great day hiking. Nice swim beach. Really cool petroglyphs. Best of all, it's the perfect float trip for day trips. The three mile float can take 6 hours or 1 if you want exercise, either way you can tackle it and get home before too late.
Rachel McConville
Love this state park. Great hiking for everyone, good campsites, and you can always find a nice quiet place here. The river is a river, so obviously be cautious upon entering, the current tends to be strong in that stretch of river most of the time. Best when water levels are a little low so kids can play safely. Great photo ops eveeywhere!
sprite vlogs
Overall was happy with our choice to camp there....it was our first time at this state park. Our camp site was a little hilly and tight but definitely saw some better sites I would choose next time. Lots to do....hiking, go to river and play, playgrounds and pur camp host even had a general use volleyball net set up which the older kids loved.
Linda Ordaz
Forgot how much I loved this place.
Unfortunately urban sprawl gets close and the sound of motor rumble is noticeable. A beautiful and historic
place it is.
The Reel Diehl
Favorite park in Missouri so far! Awesome hike for amazing views. Ups and downs make it slightly difficult but almost anyone can handle these trails!
Clarence Woods Jr
Have always enjoy this place, brings back a lot of memories of my childhood. Took swimming lessons there when I was really young. Nice place for camping and to do a lot of other outdoor activities. Beautiful hiking trails and just so much more.
Dan (DeSotoDan)
This place is great for hiking with great scenic views. It would be better if they would open it up to rock climbing. There's a couple really nice bluff lines there.
The beach is a great place to bring the kids. There's big mud slides for them to play on.
Breonna (Bre)
This place is absolutely gorgeous. But I didn't get to spend long enough there at all. Once we got there, we learned out hotel was over booked. So we had literally NO where to stay. And every hotel in the state was booked up. I was sitting there in my car, calling all these hotels and a guy pulls up with his kids. Sweet. I'm a mom so I always love seeing parents interacting with their kids. Well I guess I was parked in his way. Because when he goes to leave he honks honks honks and screams at me that I am blocking the entrance. MIND you I am in a small car, and I was parked in a parking spot. My bad BRO didn't know you were the king of the mountain. I truly hope he somehow sees this. I didn't respond respond you because I was already on fire and I did not want to flio the h*ll out i n front of your kids. But CHILL DUDE. or maybe learn how to backup your vehicle. You had plenty of room. Lol and then drives back by as I sit there still calling hotels. And blared your horn at me. I'm just baffled at the audacity of people. Yes this post is petty but I drove HOURS to get there today. Then my rooms gone and I just drove hours back home. I'm not a happy camper. 😒
Terry Pease
A great place far a relaxing day with your family. Access to the river for swimming or boating. Nice camp sites, BBQ pits, and picnic tables. And a public swimming pool is on site as well.
Casey King
An absolutely stunning place visit. The river was receding when I visited, so it was a bit swift, but the steep mud banks were transformed into an epic natural water slide. If you are not a fan of swimming in the river, you can still take a dip in the onsite swimming pool.
Popeye Stokes
Had a great time fishing ☆☆☆☆☆
Terra Brown (Goobergirl)
When I lived in Desoto, me and my family would often drive down to Washington State Park and enjoy a few hours of being in nature.
The place is large enough so that you don't feel overly crowded even if there are lots of other people in the park. There are numerous trails, two nice playgrounds for children, a swimming pool, rustic cabins for rent and a few campsites.
The Big River and Mineral Fork Creek run through the park and provide great swimming holes in which to cool off on hot summer days. The Big River is kind of murky, while the Mineral Fork Creek is pretty clear.
People come from all over to enjoy this wonderful, natural gem. And when they leave, they do so with refreshed spirits.
Heather Dement
The park pavilions are stunning but the river/swimming area is nasty. It's very muddy water and not the easiest access. Trails are over grown.
Amber Solomon
I've been going here since I was a tot. Nothing's really changed though. They have a pool and a long beach on Big River. It's shallow enough to be kid-friendly. We like to take our dogs down to that field when no one is there. There's some great hiking and historic sights. Plus a playground by the beach. Never seen any patrolling officers but they're not necessarily needed. It's a peaceful place to go.
Mari Lawson
Awesome place for hiking!Love it!
Penny Fisher
Still some areas affected by the flooding early in the year, but still beautiful!
Emerald Angler
Washington state park is a great place to camp whether you want a cabin, have an RV, or even just a tent. The campsite is close to 2 scenic overlooks and has access to the various creeks and rivers in the area. The only thing I can say is that you have to make sure you put your food in a safe place at night and put away all pet foods, the raccoons are pretty brave but wont give you any trouble as long as you put all the food away.
Diana Meyer
The camp host at this park was very friendly, informative, and pleasant to us! We pulled in late on a FRIDAY night and his happy and enthusiastic spirit made us feel so welcome! Thank you so much for helping make our first night with our new teardrop an outstanding trip!
Jim Dinsmore
Beautiful and scenic park. Like alot.
becky sims
It was a great [altho VERY hot and stormy] but what can you expect at the end of July! We hiked 2 trails, ck'd out the petroglyphs, the grands played , and the daughter & s-i-l rested, got some reading and relaxing in. Stayed 3 nights and will come back. Very clean, sites are very spaced out so you don't feel like you're all crammed in.
Samantha Mackinnon
Its a wonderful park and spring was bursting with life this day
Michelle Portell
My sister and I go here several times a year with our families. Its one of our most favorite places to float!
A wonderful place to take your family for a quiet safe float!
Christopher Anders
Went on 3 mile and 7 mile float trip spent the week down there host was amazing
Missy Gower
Beautiful park with lots of History. I wish more money from our Park service was spent here on improvements. Is a great visit every time I go, even during the winter. Was a great place to spend some quality time with my sweetheart, on a warm afternoon in January.
Vito Wagner
This park is great! Swimming options in the river are free and nice but the beach is pretty rocky, so bring water shoes. The swimming pool is nice too. Hiking isn't too bad and there are multiple trails with nice views.
Jake Niehaus
Great camping, great swimming, and just far enough from the city.
chad cannell
Very nice. the boat ramp very nice! Area did you outdoor fun
Jennifer
For under $20 the kiddo and I went swimming and had pizza, ice cream, and Gatorade. Very kid friendly pool with the deepest part marked 4'. The water slide is awesome. Plus it's a fairly short drive for us.
Tara S
First time going had a good time. We definitely need some rain!
Noelle Bainter
Recently stayed in cabin 10. Hubby and I have stayed here at the Park several times, even during our honeymoon vacation. And we will continue to keep coming back.
Bev Sloan
Continues to be a beautiful well maintained park. I had the pleasure of working in the restaurant lodge, when it was there. Wonderful experience! I love this park and appreciate all the hard work the Camp CCC did on building it. As well as those that continue to maintain it.
Ashley Barnes
It's got an amazing view! They also offer cute little cabins to camp in for those who dont necessarily like the idea of camping out in a tent.very convenient!
Dawn Inman
Had a good time but campground doesn't sell wood or ice and there are no fishing areas unless you have a boat
Tristin Gregorian
My favorite place to go when I've been feeling stressed or overwhelmed. My favored local is usually pretty quiet and solitary. It helps offer a quiet place to sit and contemplate things for a while without interruptions. The river is also a lot of fun to go swimming in!
Melissa Mulligan
This place is absolutely beautiful and a perfect getaway for families. It's quiet and clean too. We went on a whim because the weather was going to be gorgeous. So glad we did. We ended up with a basic site ;no electric because it's a rather small campground. The basic sites are more private FYI.. We had plenty of sleeping bags, covers, firewood and the weather was great. Our party consisted of two adults and 3 children and we just did tents, sandwiches, snacks, hotdogs etc. Theres a playground for the kids as well and we got up and hit the beautiful beach in the morning. You don't want to miss this gem....
Kimberly Halfhill
We had a great experience. We took the seven Mile float trip it was very beautiful. The canoe did flip but that was no fault but our own.$50 canoe $900 phone lost and still this is a 5 star trip .
Fernando Cervantes
Really nice old bridge, also great view.
Dirty Dierks
Great place to have fun with kids. Really great place to kayak.
Brian Covington
because it's beautiful here. Plenty of walking trails Great Gravel Bar for the kids to play in at the river and if that's not your thing they also have a large in-ground pool camping for large RVs to small tents electric and non electric sites. You should check it out sometime
Timothy Simms
I love everything about this park. It is very peaceful and the trails are amazing to hike on. It is very relaxing and good vibes all around. Nature at it's best. Will always be a favorite of mine.
Donald Lalonde
There is plenty to do here if you like hiking. Camping, fishing or just having a picnic this is the spot to do it.
Amy Silch
Washington State Park was fantastic! Very clean cabins, very nice man that took care of pool and took our group to the MOST DISGUSTING river I've EVER been on! The park was exceptional! It's a shame is connected with the Big River. People have just polluted it with trash, old tires, etc.. It was horrible! Will NEVER go in that river again but will definitely go back to the state park!
bob deuschle
Small electric campground next to larger basic campground share shower house. Cool off in the Big River or the swimming pool near the campgrounds. The best part of the modern pool, besides the circular slide, is the ajoining snack bar. Pool open 11 to 6 daily in summer.
Mark McMichael
So far this has been a 5-star "camping" trip. Our cabin is nice, clean and well-provisioned with amenities and facilities that take the rough out of roughing it. LOL I know I know--going to a state park and staying in a cabin is hardly roughing it. But in my defense I am without both cable TV and Internet while the StL Blues are playing for the Stanley Cup. I mean... history is being made and I am cut off from it! But I digress. Beautiful weather, beautiful country, river access and a nice pool; Petroglyphs, a scenic lookout spot that gives a cool up-high view of the scenery... I think missing a hockey game, no matter how historical--and important is a negligible sacrifice. To sum it up: Clean cabins, nice pool for civilized swimming, excellent river spot for adventure swimming (there's a decent current that can be easily avoided or played in, whichever suits you.) The "beach" is rocky (smaller river-type rocks that don't destroy bare feet) but there are clean, Sandy areas for playing or setting up a spot. Parking areas and restroom facilities are well maintained, too. And in a beautiful Ozark setting that goes easy on the senses--just right for a family outing or weekend with friends. I'm very happy that we found this place. Does not disappoint on any level from what I have experienced this far. Granted, maybe we should look into state funding for a big screen TV site for emergencies, but other than that, the only reason I need my cell phone is to take pictures and post stuff like this. (I pick up a pretty normal cell phone signal everywhere we've been so far). Haven't seen any down sides to report, so no reason not to give Washington State Park top ratings. We'll come back here for sure.
Teresa Willis
Great campground, good river spot.

Wow! What a beautiful state park. We went hiking on Opossum trail and played on the playground at the end of the trail. There is a pool at the end too btw so if you plan to hike you may want to pack a swim suit. Wereally liked the petroglyphs and the river. Will definitely be returning in the near future!
Seung Lee
beautiful trails and riverbank fun.
Rachel Warden
Went swimming - very nice atmosphere. Not very deep and has a slide. Not crowded, good burgers - watched them hand batter fish for the person before me so may have to try that next - it rained and life guard was very good at letting people stay in even though she was getting wet. Made everybody get out when she couldn't see the bottom of the pool and was kind enough to explain that. Then let everybody back in. Weather didn't cooperate and she had us all get out (even though it wasn't raining) said a storm was coming. Sure enough - a few min after everybody was out - thunder. Was quite impressed how close they watched the weather. Then they all worked concessions to make lines short as most all the swimmers went there to wait out the storm. Will definately go back.
Rodney Bensken
Majority of the sites very nice. 7 or so pull thrus. Most of the others back in to the right and narrow roads. All 30 amp service, new shower house. The sites on the outside loop have killer views. If I could back up the right it be perfect.....
Terry Savage
Great cabin prices very clean and everything worked great.

Tiffany Willyard
Camping there was pretty rough not many flat areas and I hate the grill being on the ground instead of the normal ones on the pole minus that it was not to bad
Shannon Decker
Went here for a float trip in May. We did the 7 mile float and it was fairly easy to get through, not a lot of shallow spots or tight curves. Overall a good experience!
Scott Shewmaker
Good hike with petroglyphs, creek beds, and cliff overlooks to enjoy. Rocky Woods trail marked as 6, closer to 7 according to my GPS, is nice hike. Rocky and wooded, as advertised. I've been twice and the last time was the better of the two, due to ideal weather, overcast and cool.
Elizabeth Barttelbort

Kurt Eifling
If running the Rockwood trail, consider taking the loop counter-clockwise from the main parking area at the Thunderbird Lodge. The ascent from the river bottom is a tall climb in either direction but steeper counterclockwise. The alternative is to scramble down that steep rocky grade during mile 6, which I found tricky even in ideal conditions.
Ben David
Unique, scenic park with plenty of amenities
