Reviews of Steinberg Skating Rink
A Saint Louis staple! It was such a beautiful day, felt like Spring, perfect day to enjoy a little ice skating with some friends. Location in Forest Park is great! You can quickly get to the Central West End, The Loop, DeMun, to grab a hot drink or some food before after. The fire pit is the best!
The skating was great. Loved the fire pit area! I am rating 4 stars because some of the ice skates there need new laces. But if you bring your own you won't have to consider that, so take this review here with a grain of salt. Also the wall lockers are a little confusing to work at first, might just be me being me as no one else seemed to have any issue. Overall you'll have hours of fun here.
Fun place to take the kids and adults even enjoy it! We went on a Sat afternoon so it wasn't packed and there was decent parking. The concession stand serves food, drinks, and alcohol. Prices are a bit high but the skating is still fun.
Very confusing. Came to do bumper cars on ice. As someone who hasn't been here in years I couldn't remember the procedure. I purchased tickets online. There were 2 LONG lines. Bypassed the line to ask about what we needed to do when we had scheduled time & purchased tix online. They gave us blue wristbands. Then we went outside & did bumper cars. That was a blast. Then some of the kids wanted to ice skate. Wasn't sure what we needed to do, figured we needed to wait in line so we waited for 20-30 minutes. Bought wrist bands thinking they were different for skating. THEY WERE BLUE! WTHeck? So then they tell us we have to stand in the other LONG line for skates. Waited another 30 minutes to get skates. Kids skated 15 minutes. They need signs and more staff to help out. It was crazy and we totally spent more money than we needed to.
First time here. We did the bumper cars. Had a great time with my nephews!
It was a lot of fun. Great place to chill with a hot chocolate and just watch people skate too.
We will come back with friends for skating. Just checked the place out this time. Fun for both young and old. Rentals are reasonably priced.
Started my hockey career here. It helped so many get off the streets and into a disciplined sport that improved who we were and we going to be in life. That truly is tax dollars at work the right way by changing lives for the better.
Great ice skating atmosphere, the Zamboni could come out a little bit more often. The ice can get really tough. Our boys loved it, can’t wait to do this again soon. The wait time is not long at all, very organized.
My very first job was as a Skate Guard so public ice skating rinks have a special place in my heart. This one has some magic of its own. It's really nice being outside and skating with the city lights on view. I would suggest bringing your own skates if you want them sharp, but even so it was fun. The fire pit is a great touch as the smoky smell adds to the experience for sure. My one complaint is that the bathroom was pretty awful. They need to put some money into renovating that part of the building.
I would have gave a 5 star review but they gave me two right Skates. Great food chill vibes and everything, but TWO rights skates come on man
Outdoor skating is the way to go! Been going since I was a kid. They have huge fire pits to warm up, snack, drinks (including some alcohol I believe). Lockers for your stuff while you skate.
Nice place to come hang out for the whole family
Bigger than the one in downtown. Nice background music while you skate. The bumper cars are fun but could allocate a bigger space for it. You have to rent those whatchamacallits if you can't skate. They don't have a lot of those and people will try to get yours thinking they're free to use. You leave your id when you rent them out. Place could use some decors it looks dull and unclean.
We held my sons 5th birthday party here and it was great! Nick and Senthil were great to work with and made sure we had everything we needed. The kids (and the adults) loved it!
It's the only ice skating field in St. Louis. Situated in the forest park near Washington University medical campus. Admission fee is $10 for an adult and pay extra $5 if you want to borrow ice skating boot. The field is not too big and sometimes a bit crowded. But as it is the only one of it's kind in St. Louis, it's still worth visiting.
Always a great time! Good to go early, it was less crowded. Best hot chocolate!
Ice bumper cars and ice skating with my husband and son for the first time! Minus the staff who wouldn’t allow the small kids to use a cone to steady themselves, my little had fun anyways.
Cool old-fashioned feel. Very romantic after dark. Good cafe and bar. Rental skates are but or miss. Counter staff can be salty and abrasive at first but it goes away after they see you come back a few times (I think it adds character to the joint). Good lessons for kids and adults. Prices are reasonable at grill and very reasonable for ice time. Zamboni every 90 minutes or so. Ice marshalls are helpful and Dona good job.
I saw that someone called it "dated" in a review. The outside area is pretty contemporary. The inside is vintage 1950s but VERY clean and maintained considering people walk through it with wet ice skates constantly. Love this place and it is truly one of the City's gems. If you are looking for a laid-back experience in the center of the actual City, this is it!
Nice atmosphere, always a fun time. Worse now that they have added bumper cars on one end of the rink.
The best public skating rink I have ever been too. Clean and friendly service. $8 for admission, $7 for skate rentals. The rental skates aren't too bad, if you can get over the wobble. Somewhat extensive concession menu.
I love Steinberg. I've been coming here with my family for a few years. Fair prices great staff and good experiences. Recently got to experience the new roller skate rink. They have fabulous skates there. Excited to have more experiences there soon. Enjoy!
First time ice skating ever enjoying my other half birthday plus I stepped out of my comfort zone to do something I wouldn’t do. I started off rail skating then eventually let go the rail a little bit more
Staff are really nice. Skating is good, bumper cars are not so great.
Clean, well maintained skating rink that isn't too pricey(only about $15). Felt very welcome as a first time ice skater. Employees are always willing to help.
Food inside is pricey, the rink is nice and the bonfire in the back corner is awesome
Went for the bumper cars on ice, was fun, would do it again. Did not know the bumper cars had lights for nighttime fun! Definitely need to bring the kiddos.
The nostalgia of this place is cool since it has been a popular attraction of Forest Park for so long. But this current management company is not making it as good of an experience as they could. Ice should be resurfaced once a hour, but they rarely do it which makes it tougher to skate. They also don't take very good care of the outdoor mats to walk on with skates. Way too may icy spots that aren't right by the entrance to the ice surface. Real easy to fall in an area that you shouldn't need to worry about that.
The wait to get in wasn't great. But it was well worth it to see my wife on ice skates for the first time! NOTE Bring cash they have a ATM but easier if you bring cash!
We went on a perfect day. It wasn't too busy. The skates rental was a little expensive but not too bad. We were able to sit outside and drink hot cocoa and skate around for most of the day. My two little girls absolutely loved it. We hope to be back
I’ve come here two years in a row. The wait to get in wasn’t bad. Because of COVID, you do have to have a reservation, but tickets are only $20. The cafe was a bit underwhelming as they don’t take credit cards, only cash. The ice isn’t resurfaced every hour like it used to be, and parking is very limited. They used to be a lot more festive, putting up lights and decorating for the season, it was pretty dark when I went this month. They have cones available for little humans to use and learn how to skate, which was nice to see. . I’m disappointed, but overall it was a fun night.
This place is the cutest an loveliest.. its like stepping back in time, I know I sure cant wait to go back! Although their rentals are a little so/ so, their attendants are very nice & helpful. ESpecially when it comes to switching them out, a time or two.
I couldn't imagine a bad thing about this place. I also can't wait to see what I can do on ice skates, once I get my own pair, again. Nothing like your own skates ( when it comes to comfort & skill)
I highly recommend checking this place out a time or two! It really is a hidden STL gem!
Beautiful skate rink. It can be a bit pricey though. Between skates and admission, I ended up spending $26 for 2 adults. That's bit pricey for a skate rink. They maintenance the ice every hour, which is nice. They provide food and alcohol inside. This is a great winter date.
A St. Louis Winter tradition! Have fun skating while you enjoy a Great atmosphere ( set in historic Forest Park), excellent hot chocolate, a bar for the adults and pretty good food as well.
Very busy. Friends shoes got stolen. Hate the new shoe policy.
This place was awesome. My son and I came down from Texas it was nice to enjoy a real outdoor ice skating rink.
The rink is big. But please bring your own skates. I did not have mine so I had to rent. None of their figure skates are sharpened, when asked to sharpen they replied they know they're dull but they do not know how to sharpen figure skates and only sharpen hockey skates. Their skates are very unsafe especially when going to turn with no edge to lean onto, lets not forget their shoestrings are horrible. I feel very bad for people if they're taking lessons here and have to rent skates because they're not going to learn anything but how to hurt themselves. Consessions were great, staff was great but your skates need tending to before someone seriously gets hurt.
Great place for kids or bringing a date. I can't really skate but I had so much fun
Always a fun time skating. Both kids had a blast and the hit chocolate is is very rich!
Such a fun experience!
We came on a crowded and hot December day. There was a puddle over one spot that quite a few folks found to their wet detriment. The skate choices for rental are limited. 75 cents to rent a locker. A plus is they have traffic cones for newbies like me to cling to as we tiptoe around the rink.
Bonfires, ice-skating, and holiday music. Such a good time. Would had been nicer is the shop for hot chocolate was open, guess we were there too early. For not being on ice for 25 years, this was one of my favorite things I've done in a long time.
I’ve been skating at Steinberg for many, many years. I skate weekly during their season. I hope the new management team that started in 2021 can bring back some of the charm to this great rink!
Personally, I think the bumper cars are an eyesore. The skating rink is located in a magnificent park. The bumper cars add an element of a carnival to our beloved rink. The bumper cars are in a very tiny area of the rink. I hope the bumper cars go away permanently!
Also, beginning skaters rely on the fence for support as they initially learn to skate. The bumper cars block the fence from beginning skaters. I saw one young boy get trapped on the ice - he couldn’t skate and had nothing to hold onto. His mother couldn’t reach him because the bumper car area was in the way. Please remove the bumper cars!!
Please extend the skating hours to start at 10am!! Many skaters like to go over their lunch break.
I miss the Christmas lights! I miss the commercial free music too!
Steinberg is a GREAT rink. I hope the new management team (apparently not local to St Louis) can bring back all the things I have always loved about the rink. PLEASE DO NOT RUIN OUR RINK!
Decent place but the ice is ruined with all the gouges!
Didn't skate, but looks like fun
It was nice and the lights were pretty, but the skates were very used and not too nice.
Steinberg was a ton of fun. I’m new to St. Louis but my wife told me it was a fun place to go ice skate outside. It was very cold so we couldn’t stay long, but we had fun.
Great place to go and skate, the line was long to get in and the rental skates are dull but that didnt stop us from having a good time. Staff was friendly, my suggestion would be get a faster check in system and maybe have someone in the back capable of sharpening blades but still 5 stars overall
Nice rink to drop by. The quality of the ice wasn't awesome but it was really busy so that can be expected. It's nice that they have a little cafe on site so you can sit and warm up with something during breaks.
Kind of pricey. It was warm out so the rink was a giant puddle. Don't buy the skate helpers just grab a free one when a kid is done, they should NOT be charging for those.
Great rink. Perfect for first-timers and pros alike. It seems like they clear the ice to resurface it every 30 minutes or so, so it always feels fresh. The food prices are really incredible, too. A dollar for a pretzel? I'm in! The only problem was that a side of cheese costs more than the pretzel itself at $1.50. Otherwise for $18 (including skates) you can't go wrong.
Great place for skating! The bumper cars there were excellent. If your by the Central West End, it is recommended to come here if you want to skate during the winter time.
A great place to spend a winters day or evening. The rink is well maintained and the snack bar is inside which is nice for those cold days. It has a variety of snack food and drinks and adult beverages are available if that’s your preference. They have a huge roaring wood burning fire going all the time, you can sit by it with or with our skates, really nice for those watching but not skating. They have lockers for your purse and shoes. Not a big deal but they only take cash so just know before you go.
great place to skate bad place to park imma check out the ice skating soon
My husband and I went skating on Christmas morning. It was so much fun to see so many families out there having a great time. One thing I wish they would have done was suggest skate sizes - I’m a 7 and my skates felt so big, I had to go and request a smaller skate (the 6 was MUCH better). I had never I’ve skated outdoors before and it was such a neat experience!
Always a good time. Overall great experience everytime we come. Kids love it. Bumper cars space could be bigger, but its okay.
If you go on a weekend, go early, because they have capacity limits! It is cash only. It is always a good time but a little pricey, so I would plan to stay 2 hours. They have over 30 kinds of beer and good snacks too!!
The last days of ice skating at Steinberg are here. Soon it will change over to roller skating.
My first impression is that the establishment is overly focused on finding ways to milk money from patrons rather than provide basic conveniences that improve the experience such as offering digital payment options or offer hot beverages to people waiting in line.
It was an hour long wait to skate and they made everyone get off the ice every 45 minutes to run the Zamboni.
The shoe rental workers are very friendly and fast working. The laces on the rentals are dangerously long.
The fire pit was nice.
Guy in the concession booth could not give fewer sh!ts.
The music was only something a 70 year old white lady might, like even though the patrons were a mix of parents and teens. Shows a lack of empathy on the part of the owner that should be corrected, but probably won't as long as they have little to no competition.
Despite this we had fun bringing our 3 year old to skate, but will probably try out another rink before coming back.
Great fun for the family, plenty of seats for those who just want to watch. Parking can be hectic but don't be scared off by the full parking lot, plenty of room on the ice.
It's hard to beat an outdoor skating rink with the city buildings to one side and the sun setting to the other. A fire to gather around and the bumper cars make for an engaging experience for everyone.
First time ever skating and I had so much fun! Easy to navigate, clean environment, and kind staff. Will definitely be going back!
Such a awesome place with a great atmosphere. You can rent skates here and it doesn't cost a fortune for a ton of fun. Hot Coco and a fire pit so it's even great when it's super cold. My family and I find time to go around Christmas and they have the best Christmas music of all the places we go, always a great time for everyone even if you don't know how to ice skate it's super easy and great for beginners.
I've been here twice and both times had a great time. It's just an average ice rink and they have a fire pit nearby to warm up with.
Great place. Very hot when I was there bit probably a blast in winter. Beautiful park!!!
A family tradition, the Eve of Christmas Eve, the whole family from youngest to oldest have a wonderful time, 20 years and counting.
Went during the week in the evening. Wasn't too crowded. Follow mask mandates and has plexiglass for check in, skate rentals, and even food. Was happy to have this outdoor fun for our little one and happy staff ensured everyone keep their mask on even on the ice.
Nice place, we had a great time. Four star rating because the kitchen closed too early in my opinion.
We had a great time. The service was great! There were a lot of people in line to get skates and we zipped through with no problem. They kept the ice clean and had a blazing fire to keep everyone warm. There were also lights put up all over and Xmas music playing
A beautiful skating rink with really great staff. The bar area is really nice for those above 21. Great selection for beer and even liquor.
Lots of fun but crowded
This is a great place for the family to enjoy outside skating, especially on a cold and snowy evening. There is a concession stand and skate rentals. Parking is relatively easy, especially in the evening, is there is plenty of Street space. Plus, you can never beat being in the best park in the country, Forest Park!
Took my nieces and nephew here for some holiday ice skating and they had a blast. For all 4 of us was about 52$ for admission and rentals, but I was budgeting for more than that so it worked out for us. :) All the kids enjoyed snacks and such. The hot cocoa and funnel cakes received high praise from them. We will definitely be back soon!
Great place for outdoor ice skating. I've been going there since I was a child and still nothing is changed in a good way
Crowded but a great time!
Edit: I am upping my star level because they are under new ownership. They now accept a card for entrance and skate rental so I will up it by one star. Because of new ownership, the food area is still awaiting card readers so bring cash. The ice is SUPER soft but it's pretty warm put still.. Half of the ice is taken by bumper cars. The girl charged me for skate rental when we brought our own and then lied about it instead of giving me a refund or receipt.
Old review...The staff members were rude and sarcastic, it's cash only but there's an ATM where you can get cash fpr an extra $3.50. With skate rental it's 14 bucks which is atypical for the other activities in Forest Park. The fireplace is nice and creates a nice ambiance. Probably not such a great idea to mix alcohol and skating but if you're into that kind of thing, be careful. There's a sign that basically states they aren't responsible for your injury (or that if anyone else that you might cause). It's a St. Louis staple so you have to try it. If it's a STL experience you're looking for, I recommend the one by the arch. The cafe staff were friendly and professional so I give 2 stars. The guy at the skate register was given a cell phone that was lost and practically threw it into a box. Then he and his buddy laughed. They need to clean house regarding staff rudeness.
I go yearly with family. Always packed but manageable to skate. They have drinks and food if needed. I've only ever got beer and coffee so how can you go wrong. Only one guy accepting cash needs to chill a bit, other than that staff is great.
Wide ice skating rink! Some ice skating shoes were pretty used. Overall, we enjoyed skating.
First time skater so it was fun for what I know (which is don't fall). They are open late so that was cool and seem to have scheduled zamboni time so the ice isn't always rough. I do understand they offer lessons some time in March, but I wish they offered quick lessons for people like me who just need a crash course. I'd go back though!
Staff seems friendly and helpful too.
Staffs are friendly. The cafe is great. Skating rink is big and skaters are sensible. Overall, $15 for both admission and rentals without time limit is quite worth the money!
This place is obviously an institution in stl... I went last night and the wait wasn’t terribly long to get in, 40 mins or so. The skating was fun and it’s almost better than pre pandemic with fewer ppl on the ice. However, while most people wore masks, hardly anyone was respecting distance, especially on the ice. It feels dangerous because the air is cold and dense over the rink.
I wish they would enforce distancing in line and limit capacity even further. Require reservations— duh. It’s not possible to distance effectively here right now. We’re in for a huge surge after the holidays.
Expensive and rough ice. But still worth it and fun
Such a fun time and wonderful experience. Prices are fair but would be costly to go daily. They smooth the ice allot which provides a good skate and allows you a good break to other things. They have a cafe, restrooms, fire pit going or just sitting outside watching the Zamboni machine do it's job of smoothing that ice rink.
Such an awesome St Louis attraction! Located near the end of Forest Park is this open air ice skating rink. They only do open skate all day and night regardless of weather or temperature. They have lockers for 75 cents and a nice snack bar. Bring cash, they do not accept cards.
Everything I remember it being when I was a kid. It was super crowded when we went (Sunday 1-3p) but still a great time for the whole fam. It was a little pricey ($7 to skate + $7 to rent skates -- same price for adults and kids) but still worth it. We'll definitely go again but probably try to get there before lunch when the crowd is much lighter.
Went a few weeks ago for the 1st time. My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves. Went on a Wedsnesday afternoon, not too busy. My husbands 1st time on the ice, was a great experience!
We had a great time. Good price for all day skate. There is an excellent viewing area with large windows and heat. Ha! Enjoyed the snack bar and concessions as well.
Nice place for Sunday fun!
My family and friends have been going to Steinberg to skate for years. We love the large rink and beautiful location. It's not far from home so that's a plus. The pricing has gone up quite a bit since we started. $14 if you rent skates. $7 if you have your own. The price is perfect of you plan to spend more that two hours skating. Heck you can get there when they open, skate a few hours, leave for lunch and then come back to skate all evening of you would like.
The food is a bit pricey for a rink but pretty decent. We don't usually purchase food here.
My only issue, and it's a big one, is that Steinberg being cash only they do not issue receipts. Some of us like to keep track of where our money has gone. I have to wonder what is going on here.
Steinberg pays rent to the city for use of the rink. It's not that much. The parks department does the upkeep of the rink. And they do a pretty good job with all the use the rink gets throughout the season.
Why can't Steinberg afford to purchase updated cash registers that print out receipts? Or better yet why have they not purchased a few tablets and square readers to accept credit and debit cards? It really isn't that difficult to make that change. That way there would be a record of where all the money is coming from and going to. I imagine it would help tremendously when they do their taxes.
My family and I (myself, my partner, and our two small children) went not only to Steinberg for the first time, but ice skating in general, this evening. It was SO MUCH FUN! It wasn't too crowded, we went later at night. This was really nice for us, because we were not very good hahaha. We really had a terrific time. I love how lit up the rink was at night, and the music being played over the speakers. The fact that this place has a fire, and food and drinks inside makes it so much cooler! There was nothing but fun being experienced by everyone, including the staff, at this ice rink. Those who consider the facility to be "drab", which may be the case, but I am not really sure what else people are expecting at a skating rink. Maybe I am just easy to please. I did not experience a lick of rudeness from any of the staff, from the point of payment and skate rental, to the time that my family and I ordered food and drinks, and so on. We had an unbelievably pleasant experience. They zamboni the ice each hour, which is really nice because the ice gets rough pretty quick with all of the skaters. If you stick around extra late, though, there seemed to be a lot less people and the ice stayed really nice for a long time. Our blades were pretty dull, but that in NO WAY impacted our level of enjoyment. From what I read, it seems that the staff are more than accommodating about this issue, we just didn't even care. We absolutely will be back!!!!!
I drove for almost 4 hours to ice skate at this outdoor rink for my daughter's birthday. She absolutely loved it! It was a cold winter evening, but it was still packed with skaters. It felt like an old Normal Rockwell painting, and my family had a great time. We will visit again.
Very nice place, family fun, very very HOT chocolate, but it's great
I first skated here over 40 years and now my husband and I bring our 8 kids and grandkids. Great classic skating experience. Christmas music starting after thanksgiving used to be a tradition-sure hope they bring it back this year. 🎵🎄 …
I grew up ice skating and until I came here I'd only ever skated on hockey rinks. It was such a surprise and so much fun to skate on an area so large. There is a big fire pit to keep you warm on Chilly nights, blazing hot cocoa, and if you are more like me... Ice cold beer. :)
Best place in stl to skate
Forest Park is amazing and this is one of its gems. Huge outdoor rink with ample parking. Ice isn't great but hey, you're outside!
The line was a little long (expected from previous reviews). Staff was great at getting people checked in and skate rental check out/in was simple. Having an outdoor skating rink so close is great.
A beautiful place to skate in the beautiful city of St. Louis the have a rail to hold onto for beginners, ample room for the whole family to skate. They also sell hats and gloves, bring your own skates or rent them, and dont worry they usually have a fire and hot chocolate for the ones who get cold easy 😉. …
Very fun and family friendly! I wish more people would go out there as it's a great time for friends or with a date. They have a bar, cafe, and a bonfire outside so you can get warmed up after skating~
Have to agree with someone below, the location is cool. Set up is pretty at night, they smooth out the ice a lot and the prices are decent. With that being said, the staff clearly arent happy at their jobs. Very rude/disrespectful attitudes. The guy who took our money was so rude when telling us what to do with the tickets and where to go. Asked him to repeat himself cause he didnt even look at us while he was telling us, and it was quite loud. Guy borderline yelled at us at that point very aggressive because we asked him to repeat himeself. The guys calling people up to the front to get skates were okay, but clearly annoyed with anyone who didnt have their shoes off and ready to hand them when you gave shoe size...as if there were signs there to indicate that that was expected...the "refs" on the rink were more worried about skating and showing off than stopping anyone from skating like jerks. My son (and many others) was dropped more than once by very aggresive skaters who were never told to cool it once. The icing on the cake was dropping the skates off and getting your shoes back. Outside of two pleasant people every single other person was just yelling out and being super rude. Never making eye contact. Being so dismissive toward everyone walking up just taking skates and throwing shoes out. It was actual madness. Shoes being handed to the wrong people. I can see where it would be hectic and workers would want to be moving fast, but this establishment deeply lacks any form of customer service. Super unfortunate since its such a nice place. More unfortunate that this was our first family outing since my husbands return from deployment and our sons birthday...very unlikely to return.
Amazing company, soooo much fun !!! Proud of my partner
We had a blast. Hope to come back really soon
My friends and I had a nice experience until we had to give our ice skates back, one of the guys who took them had a rude expression on his face- a little bit more kindness- like “your Welcome” or not looking at us nastily would be appreciated. Besides that it was a great time.
Fun date spot. Prices have stayed pretty steady for years. If you are getting the spiked hot chocolate, be aware that you pay for the chocolate and the booze, even though they advertise the price for the booze as if it is the price of the whole drink.
First time at Steinberg's! We had so much fun. Thank you ST Louis.
There are so many things I love about this place that I don't know where to start....to come here at night with the lights and the music, surrounded by Forrest Park....is like stepping into a Norman Rockwell painting. You can get hot chocolate or sit by the fire to warm up. During the day they have had bubble machines going that turn the whole place into a movie scene. This is not a state of the art facility, and I hope it never is. This is a low cost high level of fun experience that i would suggest for the family, a date, or just by yourself. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the condition of some if the skates and the obvious dislike for the public that a few younger staff members have shown behind the skate counter.
We went on a weekend. I would recommend this place from the bottom of my heart. It was well maintained with washroom facility too. They provide the skating shoes for rentals too. They have a cafeteria too.
Prices are good, but the ice could use some work. Got here at open and the ice looks like it hasn't been cut since last night.
80s and 90s music playing, huge bonfire and nice little snack bar with beer and drinks. Fun for kids and adults
This is a really nice and neat ice rink! Suuuuper long lines unfortunately and a pretty pricey. Fire pit isn’t great, its too far away to give off any warmth.
We had an amazing time as usual!!
Perfect day for Steinbergs.. sunny and 66, yay
This wals the first time ihad ever seen this place. My grandson and I were across the strreet ar Childrens hospital. We were able to see the people ice skating from affair. We decided to go check it out. Upon arrival we was getting more and more curious. I must say the wonderful, young man that hped us out by answering all our ( silly) questions and being so kind and patient. Was the most apprechitave to assist us. My grandon had a once in a life time wonderful experiencel, that he will never forget. It made our hearts a little lighter see we had just days b fore lost his Papa and my husband. Thank You for being our ray of sunshine through our black cloud. Happiness for a little whyle even 30 minutes means so much and will 4 ever be a memory in this little mans heart. Thank You
I have not been on ice skates for a very long time so I had to give it a go. I had a lot of fun and thankfully I didn't fall, very hard. This is a great place for kids and adults and apparently has been here for about 60 years. Who knew.
Ice was wonderful to skate on. My rentals were in pretty bad shape and worn out but still enjoyed the skating.
The ice is good and frequently re leveled, the assistants are very nice and ready to help when needed. Good prices for skating and renting skates. Food is good too. I would definitely recommend coming here!
Steinberg is the local place to be in the winter. The facility is pretty drab but it gets the job done. Lockers and a concession stand including hot chocolate are all indoors. Outside is a fire pit that you can get to on the rubber skate mats. Usually pretty crowded with lots of kids but everyone has a good time. The skates are usually just ok. I am not a great skater to begin with so I lose an edge pretty easily. But they are good about exchanges.
I haven't ice skated here yet, but I love it for rollerskating! Nice and flat concrete and fairly clean as well!
I would love to roller skate again outside as I did when I was a teenager. Would love for my granddaughter to experience roller skating outdoors. Steinberg should really open back up to outdoor roller skating.
Had a great time Ice skating outdoors! The rink is huge and that’s lots of room to skate. Very reasonable prices. We will definitely be returning to Steinberg in the future.
The inner facilities are dated, but the music and rink itself are a lot of fun. There is no good setup for toddlers to learn to skate. Wish there was something they could hold on to as they skate as I have seen in other places.
Great place to go for ice skating! We went when it was quite warm so the ice was pretty soft but there's nothing to do about that I guess! Would go again.
It was my very first time and I only fell three times (they were soft falls) and staff is really watching you and making sure you are ok when you do fall and help you up and it was amazing great experience and if you don’t want to give it a try you can watch and you will have fun
A bit pricey if not skating all day. The skates are often dull, and usually in poor condition. For all that, it is a lot of fun, skating with all ages and skill levels. The only expected thing is the unexpected.
Fun family oriented. Go many times a year. There's food and adult drink's. Skate all day for $7!! It can get crowded but still best outdoor rink in St. Louis!
Can’t beat the nostalgic scenery of St Louis’ favorite ice skating venue! Steinberg is a hit during the winter season. Full of excited families and kind atmosphere!
Loved ice skating here and the pretzels are awesome!
Pretty small outdoor skating rink, ice is not great but skate-able probably the only one you can go to during pandemic time, others in st Louis are mostly indoor
Pretty darn popular but I had a very crowded experience!
I think they should update, and clean the rink a little more often, but otherwise great!
Great place for a little family fun!
Bumper cars were so much fun. I wished the cars were wiped down so I wouldn't have a wet seat!
Most expensive rink; they don't accept credit cards and make you use their atm if you didn't bring cash, which I find extremely annoying. Great location though. Also, quite busy at times.
long line and limited parking space. another long line for registration and skate shoes rental. skate shoes were also old and painful.
It's ice skating. Most of us go once every year or two and our ankles hurt at the end and we feel good about ourselves if we manage not to fall. This place gets that done.
Love this rink. Hardly any crowd. Perfect for a quiet ride/walk.
Great location, good ice, prices really high in my opinion, if the prices were lower would have given a higher rating..... entry fee is high and $3.50 for a hot chocolate is a joke.... although never keeps me from coming back have been coni ng for years and will probably continue
It was very fun but they need to update their skates.
The place is really neat, big fire if you get cold, drinks inside, but the skates I got were pretty bad. I don't know if just got a particularly bad pair, or what, but overall very fun
I always have a blast when I go to the Ice Rink. I meet up with a bunch of friends and we talk, sit inside and sip hot cocoa, ice skate, and sit outside by the fire. This really is a wonderful place to spend a night out.
Great atmosphere, the prices make sense for what you're getting, overall super great time. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for a place to ice skate
A must in St. Louis in the winter. It is crowded a lot of the time, but still a St. Louis classic. Just know that you are going to have to wait in line for skate rentals and you won't get frustrated.
It's $14/person and cash only just a heads up. I also didn't feel very welcome as the staff was not friendly. Other than that it's a nice place, I'm just disappointed.
One of my favorite things to do during the winter months. The outdoor rink is very well taken care of. The cafe has a good choice of food and drinks.
Always fun times with my family customer service rental & online ticket was hassle free
So glad I got a chance to rollerskate! It's a rare event! But I've always had a great time, even the few times I've ice skated! Great food and staff!
Skating was fun... They don't take debit cards for food though...
Unique experience! Great place, but a bit expensive for worn down skates. Also, the ice needs to be smoothed out more often.
What a wonderful holiday tradition! This place can get very busy, but if you pick your day and time right, it is a great time with a nice facility.
Despite the rude staff and the extreme high prices it's a nice place. It cost$70 for our family of 5 top iceskate. I think 3 and under should be free
Always a lot of fun. Lots of space for putting on skates, great ambiance on the ice, decent pricing, and always a warm fire for when it's really cold!
This is one of the iconic winter outings of St Louis! I highly recommend trying it out.
Greate ice skate park next to the Downtown!
Great place-- well socially distanced but the line to get in took us almost 2 hours to get through, and they no longer offer locker services.
Classic St. Louis establishment. Great outdoor ice rink with cafe and bonfire. If you have your own skates, it’s only 6 bucks!
Great skating rink in forest park. Nice sized rink to accommodate people. Convenient parking, reasonable prices with a good Cafe. Great park scenery to skate around.
Beautiful setting in the park and I love the old school music.
We had a great time!
This is a must visit, especially during the holidays! Lights, music, and hot cocoa all combine to provide the perfect final destination of any holiday gathering.
Very cool place. They have lockers to rent for your stuff. Prices are inexpensive. Food and alcohol is available too.
A bit expensive if you have to rent skates and it can be crowded but overall, we always have a good time especially if you hit the weather just right.
Had a great time here not to busy but is a great place to go ice skating, and a place inside to eat and take a break to get the energy to go back out on the ice, they also keep they ice very clean they clean it like every hr or less
One of the best places in STL!!! We go all winter and only wish they would extend their season a bit so we could skate into March!!
Fun love the new bumper cars the staff is extremely nice the food is excellent
Been one of my favorite places in the park, many good memories!
I loved my experience, though very rude on ice instructors.
Very full of people , do not go for weekend night
Great is good to see the skating rain is steel rolling right along I am a Saint Louis native and it was just a beautiful day
Fantastic lots of helpful people ice was a little crowded but it's Xmas break lots of nice keeping warm drinks also
Great fun kinda overpriced
A beautiful ice skating rink in a fabulous setting with a warm fire burning nearby. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
My favorite rink in the world! Best childhood memories ever! I just wish you could still roller skate there!
They should have an option to skate for a shorter period 27 dollars for 2 people seems a little over priced.. A good rink and environment
Most excellent place to ice skate in St.Louis... You can get a beautiful sunset on ice....love it
Graceful gliding, stop & go, ice dreaming splendor.
Fun place: it's clean, easy to get to, and affordable. The only caveat is that it's cash only; however, there is an ATM
Fun place to go skating outside in the winter, with fire pits around the outside to get warm.
Great date night place.
This place is a lot of fun, but be ready for long lines.
This place is really fun and the people that work there are pretty nice. The food is a little pricey.
Love this place! Don’t forget to bring cash... but I’d you do forget they have an ATM inside.
A good time was had by all
This place is great. So fun. Doing social distancing very well.
I always love skating at this great outdoor rink.
I like the space of the ice rink I like that they resurface the rink when it gets too many scratches and the prices are reasonable for the amount of time that you get to skate.
First day out this season! Limit is 100 and everyone in masks. Plenty of room to spread out.
We had a good time. Kids first time skating. Friendly staff.
Fun; easy to get in; great snacks, hot chocolate and bonfire; love that it's outside
Amazing place. Weather was great. Great outdoor skating rink.
It was a lot of fun. Staff was friendly. I would definitely recommend
My daughter and I had an absolutely lovely time. The atmosphere was amazing and magical!💜 …
The best place for winter memories and excitement! Best hot chocolate this side of the Mississippi
Fun to watch, food beer and a bunch of kids falling all over the place. Fun place to go on a date
I love ice skating, and the food their makes it all a worth while trip.
It was a great experience i wpuld bring your own skates though, theirs sucked.
Historic outdoor skate ring. Ice and roller. Opened in 1957. Located in the park across from Barnes Jewish Hospital.
Love skating here
Great place to go, one of the only places that has open skate the whole time there open.
It was super fun and the people are super nice!!
Great atmosphere here and reasonable prices. The ICS was pretty torn up though and it was very very crowded.
Great customer service. Food in the cafe is a little on the expensive side compared to the size of what you get.
Very friendly! Nice environment! My kids love it!
Monday night free skate is where it’s at! 🤙 …
It's open, the surface is smooth! Nice way to spend a winter evening.
Staff is not so friendly but it is a lot of fun for a quick night skate.
A great place to skate, only reason I dropped it a star was due to the fact its usually massively crowded on weekends
Lovely place to skate! $10 admission $8 for skate rentals
Old dude working the ticket booth was very impatient and rude. Good experience otherwise
It is closed now of course but there are 4 chess tables there&a modern sculpture.
Lots of fun, nice fire pit for cold nights and a great selection at Bar!
Took a group of girls for my daughters birthday. Had lots of fun !
The line was a two hour wait, however we were all smiles once we got on the ice
Awesome outdoor ice skating rink! Grab a snack at the bar and warm up around the bonfire after doing a few laps on the ice
It is very open and offers Great hot chocolate. The staff are very friendly and laugh with you too.
Best place for kids to do tricks and have fun with friends, my son loves it!
Fun for everyone. Plenty of activities for non-skaters.
Kinda pricey for just open skate, but fun and good facilities
Bring cash. No CC processing. The lights look great. Very festive.
Good quality rink, decent price if you going to be there a while.
Pretty nice ya know? You skate then you drink hot chocolate then you skate then you drink hot chocolate again and again! Yeee!
One of my favorite places for the last 42 years. Just keeps getting better!
Great skating, nice firepit and an AWESOME food/alcohol bar!!
Best place in cwe area for a walk around the lake!
Very busy, and kind of a small rink. But good location.
good
Cute
I had an awesome time... The people and environment were just perfect!
Ice rink and more...warm up around the firepit...work up an appetite skating and then grab a snack and drink at the snack bar
Being from California, I just Love skating in the park at night and the smell of the Bon-fire in the air!!!
Kids loved it, but expect a long wait in line.
Great setting for an outdoor rink. Popular choice especially during the holidays.
If you like large flat frozen surfaces, or wearing shoes with blades attached to them, this is the place for you!
Awesome
Nice skating rink. Cash only. There is a warming area.
Due to overcrowding the surf ice got rough quickly, they did a good job zamboning every hour.
I love this place❤️❤️🥰 I wish it could be open all year round. …
Fun but too pricy and not worth it at all if it's crowded
I took my daughter for her birthday and we had a blast.
Fair prices for ice skating. Ice quality is pretty good for being outside.
Had the greatest time with my pal
I love roller skating here. Yes, ROLLER skating. Go check it out.
Very well run, one of the most underrated spots in STL
Place is awesome, people are great. Need to try the food!
Family fun, skate rental available, good hot chocolate and funnel cake
Really fun place to skate! Love the fire pit!
Best place to take your loved ones for a skate outside in st.louis
One of the original ice rinks, fun and friendly staff too!
This skating rink has an extremely enjoyable atmosphere with people of all skating skill levels.
This place is nICE! Get it??? My favorite part is the bonfire just outside the rink.
There's nothing better than a traditional skate at Steinberg's every year!!
Fun place to ice skate in Forest Park! You can rent skates on site.
Awesome skating rink. Pretty big and well kept.
Always a great time, one of the premier outdoor rinks in the US.
