Reviews of Babler State Park
A Great place to camp!! Quite with lots of trees. Very spacious camp sites
Not full hook ups...electric. water is available though out the camp grounds. There is also a dump station behind the main bathroom & shower house. There is ice & firewood for sale. There is a playground for the little campers. There is a nice trail to hike.
This is one place we will come back too.
Very clean and well kept State Park. Trails are nice, visitors center is clean and up to date, camp sites are nice. Nothing jaw dropping, but certainly one of the nicer campgrounds in the area.
Nice park. The campground has been peaceful. The trails are fun. The showers are hot. Hosts are nice.
I use this park mostly for photography. Always pretty. Well maintained. A few old wooden bridges over the creeks, an older building, even some of the shelters, make for some good photo spots. Oh, and the concrete bridge! Great picnic areas. Good little nature drive in the evening to see the deer out and about.
This is more appropriate for a RV but we camped with our tent to get the outdoor camping experience and it served that purpose. We were lucky to get a spot that our text was able to fit in. The only draw backs were the space was very small and campsites very close to one another. It was hard to get some privacy and you can hear the people around you very clearly. Also, there wasn't much to do other than hiking so a short stay was in order. The camp hosts were great though and extremely helpful and the trails are long. The bathrooms were clean and everyone was friendly.
Very nice and calm state park for hiking and nature walk. There are picnic tables too! I enjoyed hiking on woodbine trail. People come here for group hiking tours!
We camped here five nights on our trip to the area. I didn't even know any states had free state park entry, nice job Missouri! The park has a lot of original construction and info on the workers who built the park, Civilian Conservation Corps. I think Missouri is doing a great job promoting the laborer and their contribution. Camping was really nice with lots of trees, a couple vault bathrooms and one with plumbing that had showers. We also volunteered for the stream team. It was us and one other family who was from the area, it was really fun to get in the creek and count the life in the creek to see how healthy it was. Also, it was really easy to sign up to volunteer, once again nice job Missouri.
Really neat park. Trails for all terrains and levels. Lots of shade. Lots of spider webs, a bit of a nuisance, but that would be the only complaint. Some neat picnic areas and plenty of parking. Will definitely be back and stay longer next time.
I'll admit I didn't spend a whole lot of time here on the trails, but they were clear and clean, well marked and we only saw one other person.
Gorgeous park! We stayed at the campground for 3 nights and had a great time! Wonderful walking trails, dog friendly, and generally clean. No water or septic hookups, but we knew that coming in. Bathrooms could use an upgrade & perhaps a bigger playground for the older kids, but overall, a great experience! We will be back!
Loved hiking here! Very colorful and beautiful structures
My aunt rented the guy road trail head party cabin and it was nice and handicapped accessible which is awesome because my grandma who we took with us is handicapped and was able to go and wasnt worn out by the time she got inside to her seat. It has a big fridge for party food, two bathrooms, a bunch of seating with extra chairs there if you had more people than we did. It also has a microwave which was nice to heat our pizza up in for the people who got there later. I'm not sure what the price was on the place but they also rented it from 7am-9pm. It had a lot of extra parking if need be also. The only thing they could improve on is the place could be cleaner.
It's a nice place to camp and hike and very short drive from home for us st louis county folks. The campground is peaceful it is strictly a hiking nature park. No water to fish, swim or play in.
We took the Virginia Day trail 1.5 miles. One of many trails all varying lengths and difficulty. This park has a paved trail. Very nice visitor's center with indoor bathrooms and gift shop. Trails are marked very well!
Sites are a bit close together from other State Parks we have stayed at but it is very nice. We had some noisy dogs. I guess if you have a dog you probably don't mind a dog barking all afternoon but it gets grating.
Very nice park, trails are marked and easy walking, scenery is nice but the best was lots of birds and some sort of tree along the trails were giving off a great smell. Not over crowded all the other hikers were friendly. Please give my review a thumbs up if you find it helpful.
Great hikes, amazing nature and not far from home! Just a few minutes from there there are many great restaurants! You should definitely go for an hike and then to eat at this lovely area.
Great campground! Not all sites have good spots to set up a tent, though, so be careful when reserving. Great hiking trails, but maps at trailheads only show that specific trail, not where you are in the park. It's a big park, and cell phone service isn’t throughout, so good idea to have a map.
Excellent State Park within the St. Louis Metro Area. There are multiple hiking trails of varied difficulty. Primitive and modern camping sites are available. The is a large group camping special use area available for large groups. We used it for a Cub Scout Pack campout and were very pleased. The shower house at the campground was clean and we'll maintained. The visitor center has a souvenir shop and a small museum.
Beautiful lush landscape. Several good trails. Such a shame that the luster of the amenities has diminished. I can only imagine what a "HAPPENING PLACE" this surely was in its heyday.
Nice quite State Park Campground. Steep tow in and out. Electricity at site, but no water (they have a dump and fill station). Lots of ticks, more than anywhere else we have been. Camp hosts were not very good. The place charges for firewood, tells you not to collect any, then takes any firewood left at the site when it is vacated. Pretty close to St. Louis though. Showers and bathrooms needed some serious attention and were only descent because several other campers made multiple complaints to the hosts.
We tent camped over the summer at this park. The campground was clean & comfortable. Showers were fine. The campground had a picnic table & fire pit. There was also a small indoor nature center for the kids to explore. We also appreciated the outdoor presentation on owls by the staff. We would do it again!
This is a really beautiful park. The trails were a perfect getaway for me and my family.
The trails here are short, but there are plenty of them. The visitors center has a lovely topographical model of the park with all of the trails on it. It's a beautiful park and is well maintained. The trails are a more than a little confusing.
A wonderful park to enjoy the day
Trails are very nice. I recommend the yellow trail. It is paved. The red trail spurs off of the yellow. The red trail is a loop and is very nice.
Great trails, lovely setting. The numbers of many of the campsites have no logical order, but besides that, it was great: clean restrooms, helpful host, and quiet.
Took a group of 60 to Edmund A. Babler State Park for a Seniors to Parks outdoors fitness day filled with Chair Yoga, Tai Chi and a hike through one of the several trails in the park led by the fantastic Babler staff. What a great day!.
Amazing park! Such great trails and scenery. Be prepared for some hills. Favorite path is the four mile loop. I believe it's the Guy Park Drive loop. Go see it!
Nice place within the confines of the St. Louis metro area. Though the trails aren't necessarily anything special, Babler offers a peaceful retreat into nature, with views of Civilian Conservation Corps-era structures throughout the park. Great memorial to Jacob Babler near the entrance, as well as a informative visitor center.
I stayed the night here while in town and it was overall a good night. The campsites did have some bugs and the firewood I bought wasn't quite dry enough to burn though, so it was a little less than perfect. The sites were clean though and camping cost was reasonable.
This really is a nice park. There is a little playground adjacent to some large fields back in the park a ways. This place is often quiet unless there are events going on. Camping area is nice if you just need a quick weekend getaway.
This is a "gem" of a park. Right now the woods are spectacular with dogwood and redbuds, et al. It seems like no matter what time of year, this park has much to offer. Today on my bike, a man and his dog were morel (mushroom) hunting. We like to camp here in our RV and ride our bikes.
Love the campground. Sites are spacious, always quiet and the trails are great.
Beautiful, leafy setting high on a ridge (but not with a view), campsites paved and well kept, and for the most part screened nicely from sites to either side. A nice stop for us on our trip
Very nice campground. We had a fifth wheel camper and had plenty of room to drive in and back it in the camp site. The campground was very clean and well kept. Loved having the shower house as an option sine we didn’t have full hook-ups. There is a nice paved walking trail and plenty of campsites available for different campers, RVs or tents. The camp hosts were polite and helpful. The only drawback was no communication about the front gate into and out of the camp ground. It does state on the web site that the gates are closed from 9 pm to 7 am. But not information given if you need to leave before 7 am. We needed to be somewhere by 7 am and needed to leave before then. If someone hadn’t come along that had stayed there before, we wouldn’t have know to just drive slowly up to the gate and it would automatically open when you got so close to the motion sensor. This isn’t stated anywhere on the website. But other than that little problem, we have no complaints. We really enjoyed the visitor center and the exhibit and information about the Babler Family.
Clean and beautiful!
The campground host was very pleasant and informative.
Grew up camping, biking, hiking, and enjoying this place. Formed who I am today; I’m forever grateful.
Nice camp ground. Has biking a walking trails. No fishing or swimming area.
Very nice park with lots of history and plenty of trails to hike.
Hugh park as well as campground. Spaces are not too close together and lots of big trees. Campfire rings, paved pads for your camper along with showers and running water toilets. Do wish their road signs were a bit better.
Great place close to St. Louis that has nice on and off trail options.
This is the best place to go for fall colors and family picnic. This park has a very big walking trail to see natural colors and sufficient picnic spots
Just spent the weekend in the camp ground so we didn't see much of the rest of the park but what we did see was very nice. Variety of walking trails and the camp site is nice and clean.
This was a repeat stay here. Very nice park. I think that they have electric only and no services sites. Nice concrete pads and picnic areas. We loved it and our dogs loved it
Beautiful park with many opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and camping.
I have hiked here a few times but this was my first time camping overnight. It was a great experience. The grounds, bathrooms and showers were clean and staff was very helpful.
Beautiful, clean and friendly park staff
Great place for hiking and camping or just a day trip into nature. Love this place
Beautiful park. Ran to town and on the way back met these at the turn towards the campground. I know the picture is a bit dark but I always enjoy seeing them. Drive carefully, your in their livingroom!
Nice campground. Clean and camp host was very friendly. We would go back.
We are from Minnesota and were visiting family in the Saint Louis area. We camped at Babler State Park with our 30 foot travel trailer. This is truly one of the nicer campgrounds we have stayed at. The sites were very large, lots of trees and we were not super close to our neighbors which was nice. We did not use the bathrooms or showers but I checked them out and they were nice and clean. The campground hosts were nice, friendly and helpful as we were not familiar to the area. There is a nice paved hiking trail if you are looking to take a walk. Verizon cell service was good in the park. Very nice place and hope to return someday
Didn't get to explore the whole park but what we did see was beautiful and peaceful.
We only explored a small part of the park. Need to go back and explore other trails.
Beautiful for a drive or a hike! Playgrounds, horse trails, hiking trails and endless space.
Beautiful Park, a lot of nice picnic areas, shelters, hiking, biking, trails, nice visitor center with grate personal,
We had a nice stay at this park in June 2019. We stayed in a Pop-up camper with electric only hookups. The bath house was a little walk, but was clean and nice.
There was a nice hiking trail and other areas to see. Park was well kept and camping spots were nice. No spectacular views or rivers that I saw, but a nice inexpensive place to camp while we did tourist stuff in St. Louis with my sister.
This park is great. It has it all. Hiking trails. Beautiful stone shelters for rent. Equestrian trails. Trees trees trees. Grills and tables available throughout the park. Its large. You are not on top of anyone. And its gorgeous to boot.
Great park wth a nice campground. Need to plant some trees to replace All of those cut down in the campground. Also change the descriptions on the website.
Ours said shade but 95% of the time it is full sun. Also some sites a long hike from the only restrooms.
Great campsite - affordable, really easy to book online, and quiet the night we slept there. BE AWARE: the gate to the park is closed and locked at 9pm during the on-season and 6pm during the off-season! You will get locked out if you arrive past these times!
Large MO state park in west county area. Welcome center, hiking and equistrian trails, large fields and picnic areas with grills scattered throughout park. Pool no loger in use.
Nice campground. Bathrooms a little ruff. Not cleaned very well.
A very nice state park in an urban setting. Close to urban St. Louis, this park provides wide-open spaces, and lots of hiking trails for people to get out and see nature 12 months of the year. The park has a series of winding roads that are very beautiful in many seasons. Visit this in the spring, or fall, for beautiful colors of nature.
Beautiful forested park just a half an hour from downtown St. Louis. Hilly unglaciated terrain with plenty of hiking trails and a nature center. No water features. Biking can be a challenge due to many steep inclines. Campground is well kept with an older but clean bathhouse. Don't expect a power shower, but it gets the job done. All campsites have a cement landing. They are relatively close together, but generally have a nice wooded view. Picnic tables, but no fire pits. Water spigots throughout.
Beautiful park with lovely hiking trails, but the campground is very poorly marked, and if you go down the wrong inlet, you have very little space to turn around.
Also: be prepared to fight stink bugs. Our RV was inundated with them and six weeks+ later we're still finding them on occasion.
I am starting to really love this park! It's quite close to the city. Campgrounds are nicely maintained, affordable, and available both on and off season. There is a seasonal visitor center with a cute little museum. Several pavilions for rent. Playgrounds and picnic areas. Horse accommodation. And several well groomed trails for hikers, equestrians, and bikers. None of the trails are that long or challenging, but most offer interesting little surprises either on the main trail or on a spur. You could probably hike every trail in a day, but you'd have a ton of fun doing it! For a fast get away from the city where it's still just a 10 minute drive to more campfire marshmallows, this park really can't be beat!
I went camping with friends. I loved it. The place was clean and well organized. A great place to sit around a camp fire, eat some burgers and stay the night in a tent. And the location was great, no need for 2-3 hour drives.
Beautiful park! Great for just an afternoon drive. I take older friends here, guys who aren't good on their feet anymore, but enjoy a peaceful leisurely ride in the woods. Generally see some deer, maybe turkeys or turtles, woodpeckers, etc. A good bit of the roads are shaded, so it's usually relative cool. It's a big park, with alot more to offer than I've taken advantage of so far. There's overnight camping, for anything from pup tents to RVs, with hookups for electric, wastewater disposal, etc. Shower facilities available part of the year.
What a great state park. I was greeted by wonderful and helpful staff. I can't wait for the weather to improve, I will be back for more.
The park itself is great, but the hosts of the campground were much less inviting, accommodating, and helpful than other Missouri State Parks I have visited. That being said, the actual camping areas were nice and clean, but the outhouse areas hadn't been tended to in a long time. After a good cleaning and a revamp of attendants it would be a great place to camp. We still got to make some memories and the park is only about 15-20 minutes from Six Flags and is much cheaper than a hotel.
We go there on a regular basis, there are many spots to picnic, small and large groups. Horse trails and pool area, Ball fields, pavilions for large groups also. It's a great local park.
Great RV camping sites, all paved and wide. Most are level. Bathroom was acceptable. Miles of paved roads in park, so we biked early every morning. No water features at this park. Closed swimming pool is growing trees in it! Some TLC needed around the park.
We camped here for one night on a trip. All of the trailer pads are concrete. It is a very scenic park with nice hiking trails. It is also an equestrian area as well.
It is a great park with lots of hiking trails. The campgrounds are nice and clean. The only thing I would change is the camper pads are too short and the sites are too close together. The visitors center was informative and they were very nice and knowledgeable.
The trails are about 1+ miles and interweave with each other. Although it says its moderate, I would say they're actually much easier. I found the trails very nice and well- maintained.
Warning: basic camping ground sites are extremely uneven and small. Something to consider if you have more than one tent.
Friendly people. Well organized and managed park. Shower house always clean. Gate locks at 9pm to prevent unauthorized people from entering at night. Nice paved walking trail through the woods. Close to stores, however, roads are very steep and curvy, and during rush hours busy. I was at site 49 and had excellent verizon 4g cell service for streaming videos, etc.
This is a great place for family hikes! There are several short trails (1-2 miles) that are great for less experienced hikers. The trails can be somewhat rugged in areas, and are mostly unpaved (I think one trail is paved about 1/4 of the way, but that's it).
I only gave it 4 stars because their camping area wasn't all that great. The campsites are squashed really close together, and while we did not camp there, it looked like the tents would be uncomfortably close.
Really nice campground. The vistor center has local food items and demos throughout the day. The campground ranges in size for each plot and some are wooded and some are open. Great place for riding bikes and they have hiking trails for all ages.
We camped at Banker. The campground is kept very clean. The host's were very kind and helpful. They go above and beyond in keeping things clean. Many of the electric sites are paved and very level. We love this state park as a home base for all things St. Louis.
Great camping sites. Beautiful area that was pretty quiet. AT&T and Verizon cell service were excellent. Community water connection and no sewer so be prepared. Easy access dump station. We had a relaxing stay.
About 17 miles of trails to hike. Moderate to difficult. Very enjoyable.
Great place to get back to nature, that's not too far of a drive. Nice hiking and horse trails
Nice trails but we went on a rainy day. Little difficult to see the trailhead but clearly marked once we were on it. Will return to try the 6 mile trail on a dry day.
Babler memorial park is nice place to take a walk late in the afternoon the entrance is down off of eartherton rd the trail are muddy and hard to see because of the horses but other than that it's nice and the trail are a little confusing but there are nice other nice parts of it its worth the drive if you love to hike / walk
The visitors center is really nice! There is a small interactive museum for the kids, and a nice little gift shop. I hiked the 1.5 mile Virginia Day Memorial Nature Trail, and it was lovely. There were beautiful flowering trees, and the path was well-marked and maintained.
Trails and park are great. Downgraded because the campground doesn't feel like nature. Campground is clean but there's nothing much else to say for it. The woods were cleared and graded. parking pads went in. If you're looking for camping in a natural setting, go farther than Babbler.
I chaperoned my daughter's class camp out for 3 evenings. The cabins are well lit and tidy for camp cabins. They even had supplies for the girls to be able to clean up after themselves. The paths were well lit. Only suggestion would be night lights for the bathroom area as the overhead lights are so bright that they prevent good night sleep for campers in certain bunks.
Babler State Park is a great park all around, whether it be for a day out hiking or a weekend camping they definitely have the resources to meet standards for any outdoorsman.
The trails can satisfy the needs for a hiker of any level; The Dogwood trail is a great one for beginners as it is only two miles round trip. The terrain of the whole park is rocky, steep, many drops and ledges. It is very scenic as well.
They also accommodate horseback riders and bicyclist with the horse and bicycle trails.
Great camping place in cabins. You can hike, trek, have fun with bar-b-que. Very big park for ton of activities and very much greenery around. Couple of degrees less temp than City. We really like this place for summer picnics too.
Nice park, no full hook ups. Waste and electric only. 20/30/50 amps but if you need a specific amperage book appropriately. Nice trails, nature center. Close to St. Louis. Horrible booking system on line.
Great Park with many trsils for hiking, biking and horseback. So many areas with grills and tables and ball fields. Lots of parking and it's never overcrowded. Camping sites and shelters can be reserved. However some shelters and the swimming pool facilities are permanently closed.
This is such a gorgeous state park. My husband and I are from Oklahoma and scheduled our first vacation to line up with the total solar eclipse. My husband was so excited to experience this. After some research, I found the park was hosting an event. They had activities, a food truck, and sold solar eclipse glasses for those of us who came unprepared (like me). All the park rangers were friendly and helpful. They even rode around in a golf cart checking on people since the weather was quite sunny and warm. You could tell this event was very well organized. It took a lot of the stress and worry out for us, especially since we have never been there before. We had fantastic front row seats to an amazing celestial event. I am so happy we chose to Babler Memorial State Park. If we ever go that way again, we will definitely make a stop there.
Nice place to visit and check out a few trails. Roads are not very well marked or laid out for a first time visitor, but we managed to find our way around to trailheads.
This was a great place to get lost in nature. My Huskies loved hiking these trails.
Wifi, showers, clean, quiet, playground, plenty of space and the host/hostess are THE MOST warm and welcoming people ever! We had a very nice experience and will definitely choose this campground the next time we visit the St. Louis area :)
My family and I camped here for three days. We had a very good time. The campsites are nice and big and the showerhouse is nice and clean. Not to mention the campground hosts are very friendly and helpful. Far enough out of the city but still a short drive to St. Louis Zoo. We will definitely return in the future.
Awesome place to go hiking, bicycling and almost any other outdoor activity. There are plenty of rest and picnic areas spread throughout the hiking trails, great place to have the whole family out.
Probably my favorite state park in Missouri (and I've been to a lot). The visitor center is a fun place to stop in to, the campground is wonderful, and there's amazing trails throughout the park. It's pretty secluded with dense forests all around. Several nice pavilions that can be reserved, bathrooms, ball fields, etc.
One of the best state parks within easy driving distance of St. Louis. Babler is definitely up there for my top day-hikes if I don't have the time for a 10+ mile hike. Good for camping and other outdoor events, as well; check it out!
A peaceful wooded State Park. Camping, hiking, and horse trails get you out into the shaded woods. Some areA are active with visitors such as the campground but mostly you can find quiet woods to enjoy nature or your small group of companions.
Not that bad. Spent 3 nights at the campgrounds. The sites were small compared to others I've been to. The shower house was ok. The shower heads are really low, had to bend down to wash my hair. Nice trails to hike.
Beautiful park with a nice campground and trails. There isn't anything especially scenic, just hills and trees. There are a lot of stone bridges, shelters, and buildings that add to the scenery.
Favorite local place for camping and hiking. Gated, safe and secure overnight. Whether you have an RV or a simple tent, there are spaces to accommodate. Hot showers and bathrooms, if you prefer that. Even wifi in one area, if you need to get a little work done or want to cheat and stream a movie online. Check it out. Within 15 minutes of Chesterfield and Wildwood. But, nice and quiet, away from the sounds of traffic.
This is a beautiful park, but some of the picnic areas need some attention. Civilization has been closing in on Babler State Park, but once you get there it's easy to forget about all the surrounding hustle and bustle. I remember visitng this park a few times, as a child, with my family, and I very much enjoyed my return trip.
Great place to hike. Good options of long trails 3+ miles or shorter ones, 1-2 miles. Not too rugged but I suggest good solid hiking shoes or sneakers. Ground cover could be solid surface like a paved road or dirt and rocks through the woods.
So many good hikes here! None are too hard and lots to see - great scenery, a small graveyard, horse boarding!
The park itself is beautiful. The RV camping area seems pretty tight, but we'll know more once we camp there.
I love this park. Great for camping. So many places to explore. Close to STL but so far away mentally.
This is a really nice park to visit. That being said, there is not a lot to do. I usually come here for photography.
On this visit the visitor was closed. I have been in there.
The Park is absolutely humongous. I have not all of it. It well kept up.
Its a nice park. Well manicured. Nice wide roads. Two hosts on site...one more welcoming than the other. ;-) The campsites are safe and clean. Excellent facilities. 3 stars because of the inconvenience of the park office being closed so often.
Awesome hiking trails, well maintained , labeled and with various elevation changes and vegetation. The information center and gift shop was nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful.
It's a beautiful quiet park. Even with the campground almost at capacity it was so quiet.
We were up front on #2 in RV, it was level n near bathhouse which was clean, showers good, hooks for ur towels n clothes n bench for you things. The Host Shirley n Earl were super sweet, welcoming n friendly. Then got to meet host Becky real friendly also. Very clean park, peaceful. Come n see for yourself
Great park doesn't get near the people out there as it did when I was growing up in the area
We had a shaded lot, very quite and great spacing between lots. Concrete pads (all) which included the picnic table (connected) at most spaces. The showers were very clean, although the shower heads were installed for short people. TV reception from St Louis was very good. We plan on coming back!
Beautiful, classic Missouri nature. You could go a day or two without seeing another person.....very quiet. Great for extreme bike enthusiasts (a lot of big hills) and for joggers who want to test their fitness (there is a hill that is probably more than a mile long). Campground is middle-of-the-road ok. A lot of raccoons at night. No danger, but keep your food locked up, these bandits are very clever. They've figured out how to open coolers.
Despite the incessant rain and my giving up the next day, the little time I spent out in Nature did revitalize me some. So, I booked another camping trip to the same location.
This is a tidy park with paved roads and pads. Trees provide shade and privacy. Fifty amp power. No water on sites. Hydrants are located for fresh water tank fills. We would stay here again.
Very nice campground. Some of the campground keepers informed us that there had been a few burgleries in the past weeks. A service trailer was stolen and the host caught a local trying to syphon his gas. Nothing of the sort happend to us while we stayed.
Beautiful park! Grounds are very well kept. RV sites have electric! Some have fresh water. No sewage dump except by entrance.
There are no cabins for rent to the public at Babler! Great park, I wanted to make sure you know there are no cabins here, because a google search of "parks with cabins around st. louis" would tell you to go to Babler.
It’s absolutely beautiful and camping is the best! Very well run State Park!
We have enjoyed RV camping at several sites here. There is also a rather large basic camping area. If we don't feel like cooking, We drive about 5 miles to Chesterfield Valley . There must be 50 places to shop and 50 places to eat, including 2 outlet malls !
Very typical of most Missouri State Parks which is great. The RV Sites are huge! Miles if trails and lots of picnic facilities. Well worth a visit, and good as a destination to explore the Saint Louis area.
Really nice State Park. Clean facilities. Great trails and a few overlooks from the tops of high ridges.
Nice camping, clean, modernized facilities and camp sites. Other campers (RV) were very friendly as well. On site caretakers were very friendly and helpful. We had a great 3 night primitive camp experience.
Lots of options for hiking...air is fabulous with all the trees. Shaded and pretty. Plenty of picnic spots with grills.
Loved it. Little dismayed that the sites are electric with access to water every 100 foot. There is a dump station though. Camp host was super helpful. Well kept campgrounds.
Trails here are great, also not crowded for the most part like Castlewood or some other places I like to hike. Also the windy trails make you feel like you're really in the deep woods.
We love this campground & stay here frequently. However, as camphosts and animal lovers, we are concerned about the German Shepherd belonging to one of the camphosts. He barks loudly and constantly when tethered outside. He also seems quite aggressive when you stop to fill water or walk by on the way to the bathrooms and trailhead. I am concerned about him getting loose and threatening children or other dogs.
Lovely park with a number of great shelters
This park offers everything from camping to trails and horseback riding. One of the safest feeling campsites I've stayed at in the area.
Nice and quite. Easy commute to attractions on the west side of St Louis. Pads are level and well spaced. Negative was the lack of water at each pad.
Beautiful park. Light traffic and great for hill interval training for road bike enthusiasts. Also wonderful for family picnics with clean sites, shelters benches and BBQ pits.
I love this park! We used the camping amenities. The hosts at the park were extremely and made us feel at home. The park was very clean and well taken care of. I would definitely recommend this park for camping!
Beautiful park, big rv sites, quiet at night.
I really enjoy this park. Always clean and never too busy. Great spot for a picnic not to far from downtown STL.
There aren't any vending machines so be sure to bring water!
Very nice place well kept , you can camp, lot's of picnic benche's and grilles to BBQ.
Do not take your dogs here. Walked a trail for 20 minutes and I've now pulled over a hundred ticks off my 2 dogs. Area is nice otherwise but don't bring dogs until ticks aren't as bad.
One of our favorite state parks to camp at. The family loved it and where we camped the kids had a lot of room to run and play. We will definitely be back.
Babler State Park is near west Saint Louis County Missouri and like most Missouri state parks, it is really kept nice. There are plenty of picnic sites, pavilions/shelters, hiking and equestrian trails a playground and campground.
My first visit was a good experience, met some out of town family here for dinner. I'll definitely be going back for an overnight visit and to explore some of the trails! Maybe for the REI camp in October.
Nice trails, great scenery, clean park, and so much fun for everyone! Highly recommend taking a trip out to this beautiful park!
Pretty park with trails and camping
Great hiking and biking trials. Has equestrian trails as well. Playground was disappointing. Grounds are well kept but things such as picnic benches are showing their age.
A fantastic place to commune with nature trails are generally in very good shape their barbecue area and picnic areas a great place to spend the day get some exercise and see some scenic Missouri wildlife
Worst website ever. Tried for 20 minutes to find a park map and rate for just this one park and I am throwing in the towel. Ill never know if this was a good campground for RV camping or not.
I went there today so my husband could go mushroom hunting no luck with the mushrooms I did use the restroom that was very clean and tidy thank you for that had a good day
Beautiful park with great hikes!
Been there twice. Great place to camp. Neat and clean facilities. July is one of the best time to visit to see fireflies (not a lot of them though).
Love this Park. The Park is beautiful. The Rangers are very accomodating and knowledge. Bought a Park T-shirt, all Parks should sale hiking/natur them tops with the Park's name, love to collect them.
The RV sites are accommodating. There is wifi which isnt common for surrounding state parks. Wifi is weak if the park is fill. Very clean grounds with trees for shade.
Babler state park is scenic and well manicured. It's fairly easy to access from the Metro Saint Louis Area as well.
There's plenty to do here including hiking, biking, horseback riding, and geocaching.
While close to the STL Metro area it is remote enough that cellphone reception can be spotty. If you geocache by phone, or expect to do something like Pokemon Go here, you might run into some disappointment. Plan ahead if your're caching and download what you need in advance or have another GPS ready.
The trails are also pretty well marked with color codes and symbols to let you know where travel might be prohibited by horseback or bicycle. With that said, have a map handy because the sign posts don't indicate where you are on the trails or if they are loops.
Nice campground. Good selection of trails. The spring was a great place to visit on a hot summer day hike.
Nice park. Multiple trails to choose from. Playground. Well maintained place. Plenty of parking.
Beautiful, enormous park. Lots of great wooded trails. Very hilly. Nice campground as well.
Great campground, beautiful hiking trails, and all close to the city without feeling too close! Great place to spend the day or weekend!
We had some nice walks though we found the campsites strangely manicured in the way that lawns are, not necessarily what we were thinking of when going camping. Also the camping sites seem a bit uneven.
Very nice park, great trails.
Park and accommodation were good, but there was lots of ticks. If you a dog it is a terrible choice unless your dog is on tick prevention treatment!
Love the Serenity listening to the water flow at the creeks! So relaxing
The ranger was very helpful and they had great maps! I suggest taking the Dogwood Loop Trail. It had gorgeous flowers, trees, and a cool spring.
I enjoy running the equestrian trails out here. Generally a very quiet place with few other guests but a very nice and secluded park.
Does a good job of feeling like a rural area despite being embedded in a suburb of the city.
Beautiful park, large level sites all back in. Good wifi and satellite. Some trails, could make more and longer.
Great hiking trails...recommend the Dogwood and Woodbine trails. Same trailhead for both. Both trails are about 2 miles and are very well marked and maintained
I visited this park many times in the late 50s. It amazing how well the park has been cared for. Who ever is responsible Thank You
What a beautiful park! Everyone needs to go to the park to enjoy the beauty of it. The park offers many shelters depending on your needs. Plus it has many trails.
Pretty neat park to visit , definitely will come back to camp
Nice general purpose camping, beautiful trails and nice visitor center. Only thing that would make it better is newer style composting toilets.
Had a blast with Pack 892 AND Troop 892! Great place to camp and hike, very impressed by the staff and learning center.
What a great park! Campground is nice and the trails are fun.
Clean safe facilities. Paved electric sites. Gate closes at 9pm, code available for after hours. 35 minutes from the heart of St. Louis!
A beautiful campground. Sites have good buffer. Chech in people are really nice. Would like to come back someday and see the fort.
This is an extremely scenic place. I cycle at least twice a week around it and always encounter pleasant scenery.
Cool camping but bring your mosquito and tick spray.
Fantastic little park. There are cabins, a recreation area, and a campground. Nice place to get away from the weekend.
Fun trails. Bathrooms closed on Monday and tues.
Family stayed there in an RV. Shady, clean. Quiet.

Went last week with my buddy's, no lake or water anywhere. Still had fun got check on every other few hours by someone driving a golf cart.
Great walking trails.
Great park with lots of trails and very nice camping sites.
Slight hike down to the lookout, then back up to the road. GOOD walk.
We camped and hiked. A beautiful place
The bicycle trail doesn't allow bikes. Give me a break. It's a bike trail - yes, people will fall down every once and a while. Should the park get a roof to keep the dangerous lightening out too?
Beautiful Campground... plenty of quiet and space in between.
Great park close to St. Louis, Six Flags, and the Missouri Wine Trail.
Great trails, exhibits, facilities! Bring bug spray, if you dont it's okay you can buy it at their shop.
Large park, great for viewing the fall color change. Lots of picnic areas, hiking trails and shelters for rent.
Extremely friendly hosts! Very clean bathroom and showers. Well shaded basic camping spots.
Nice park and good amenities...water pressure in showers a little low. Great biking nearby

Great park except when they are filled. Some sites could be a little more level. Otherwise a great park.
Camping- primitive and full hook ups, picnicking, hikes, they have it all. Grounds are huge and beautiful!
