Reviews of Salt Lake City Sports Complex
First time here today for a hockey game. Didn’t quite know where to go upon entering the building so decided to stop and ask the front desk ladies. She was visibly put off that we’d asked her for help. Came over and pointed to the boards that listed the teams and then left. Still confused, thankfully someone watching it all happen came over after she left and helped us figure out which rink and then guided us to where the spectators could enter the stands to watch the game.
Beautiful facility, but a little consideration and willingness to help others is necessary if you have someone sitting at a front “help” desk and this was certainly not her morning.
Great facility. Came here for a youth lacrosse tournament. No seating so bring a folding chair if you’re spectating.
My sons have played hockey at this ring over the years and they always tell me that the ice is really good. The east rink is fun to watch games at because the refs and players can hear you very well. So if you enjoy getting referees mad at you it's a good time! The staff there is quite good and are friendly and helpful.
We went ice skating and it was a great experience overall. The staff was kind and helpful with renting the skates and everything. On an average weekday the rink was not crowded at all, we had plenty of space for ourselves.
I really like this place. Nice weight room. Great pool. I really like the water-aerobics classes. The Sunday morning instructor is a turn off, but the others make it fun. The place has a nice sauna. The hot tub has been shut down for months
Definitely not your place if you’re looking for a weight room. Ice hockey and swimming are about all they have. Not a well rounded rec center
Great place to get your sweat on, has a little of everything. Pool, cardio, weights and an ice rink. Heavy on the cardio equipment light on the weight lifting aspect.
Awesome 👏 swimming 🏊♀️ pools we had amazing day & my son loved it 😍 …
Great place to ice skates. The ice is kept up well and very affordable.
Love the double rinks. Been skating here for years, facility is awesome!
This is at the Steiner Rec Center near the U.They have a program for Vets and others with disabilities to participate in sled hockey.
My husband who is an amputee, loves the program. He had no hockey experience at all and got hooked after one time on the ice.
Because of COVID they haven't met in over 2 years. Just started up again recently, but only 1 more session til, next October.
It's a great way to get a little exercise and enjoy a great time.
One of Salt Lake County’s many rec centers. Gym equipment meets my needs and is well maintained, locker rooms are fine, but this year I’ve come to love it for its ice sheets after taking up figure skating (which more adults should try - it’s absurdly fun, and there are quite a few adult skaters here, but I digress). There’s also an outdoor pool (open summers), though this past summer it was a little TOO popular to make visiting pleasant. So glad to have this facility nearby!
Excellent facility. Perfect for a good high school hockey game.
Love/hate relationship here. You likely can't beat the annual membership price. This specific county gym has great amenities and a wide variety of excellent group classes taught by skilled instructors. Hours are stellar as well. Here's the hate part. I specifically use this gym for the pool because of some issues with my aging body. They consistently will sell out all of the lane lines to groups. There's no notice or any way to check unless you call and they don't always answer. I get that they are a county facility but I believe this a major disservice to the much "larger group" of paying clients. They need to leave at least 1 lane open at all times for other paying costumers or at least give better notice and not just a note on the door when you drive there that the pool has been sold out. My annual membership is coming up soon and I'm seriously contemplating not renewing. Update 5.28.22 pool schedule is better. Search for the weekly pdf schedule so you know what lanes are open. Sadly the hot tub needs major repairs and there are no immediate plans to fix it. 😢
We are from Indiana and let me tell you that the people in Utah are awesome so friendly and helpful..thank you for your hospitality
Normally would be a great place to visit. Very much enjoyed the hockey games there which had teams from several cities and states.
However, the refs were horrible and kicked out a fire fighter when someone else was saying bad things.
The temperature was comfortable and the navigation of the 2 rings was easy to get through.
Son plays hockey; the ice rink is beautiful and there are other accomodations like lockers, dressing rooms, restrooms, vending machines, and more. Only issue is parking is scarce and stalls are small.
Twin ice sheets and a great rec center all paid for by the 2002 olympics according to the sign.
The Vegas Golden Knights ended these road trip in salt lake today. Great opportunity for all the kids to be a part of the newest NHL team.
It's kinda a small weight room but it's nice - also I saw a man benching with his feet 🤣 …
Great pool, swam indoors today and cannot wait to swim in the 50 meter outdoor pool come May.
Like most businesses, it is understaffed. Lots of value for the price. Track is lovelynice and cool. They allow me to carry weights when I walk. Several personal trainers available, for those who can afford them.
I like the place. I always find a treadmill and usually a lane to swim. The gym isn't big, but isn't crowded either. They open Sundays too, which is uncommon in other cities in Utah. Personnel is friendly and as a plus you can workout while seeing high school hockey and ice skating teams train. I feel the parking spots are a little small, but I guess that's OK.
Great facility for outdoor swimming and ice skating, with kids programs to match.
I like the indoor pool, but I especially love the outdoor pool. I have to take it down to 3 stars due to the weight room.... I didn't realize how much equipment my old gym had until I came here. The room is extremely cramped and the very equipment is limited. I definitely suggest getting the gym wipes so that it stays a little cleaner (I've left with black hands that felt like they were covered in germs). I'm currently trying to decide whether the pools are worth renewing my membership for.
Loved it,the staff, lifeguards, everyone is doing good jobs, and I am very grateful for them being there' to help anyone else.
I go for swimming on the master's swim team. The indoor pool is quite large. Ok weight room, but all of the machines are new which is super nice! I haven't been to any of the other classes or used the ice skating rink.
My favorite arena of all time. It is so warm inside and every seat is great. I love the rink where you overlook the game from above. Again, so warm inside there. Parking is easy and convienent.
Great location to watch some hockey. And they have two rinks totally awesome. Overall a great complex. Multiple events in multiple activities can happen at the same time.
This is a solid affordable gym. I wish there were half stars - I'd give it a 4.5. The staff is very friendly and helpful and there is a pretty good range of weights and cardio equipment. I have never had a training session but I've lifted alongside many people having training sessions and the trainers are extremely knowledgeable. I've belonged to gyms across the country and they appear much more knowledgeable than the average trainer. There are also two full size ice rinks and an indoor and outdoor pool. I'd give it a five star review if there were more weight options (e.g. barbell squat rack, dumbells over 70 pounds). Though, again, overall it is a great affordable option with plenty to keep you occupied and in shape.
The Salt Lake Sports Complex is very nice. They keep it well cleaned, however the inside pool was in need of being vacuumed. The water is very clean. The pool is not a chlorinated pool, but salt which makes it very nice and refreshing.
For Cafe Rio the food was consistent. GOOD. The workers seemed slow and a little unorganized. Orders stacked up and lines slow. We asked about Taco Tuesday, we are use to in DC and were told business was so good they didn't need it. A little arrogant.
one of the few places that doesn't have 8 million TVs in every single Direction You look. You can actually watch ice skaters while you work on the elliptical or treadmill. And the weightlifting room isn't full of young juiced-up Butthead jocks, it's mostly older people just trying to stay in shape. Which I'm much more comfortable with.
I like this gym. Been a member two years now. My only issue is for how long it takes to get machines fixed. Two treadmills have been out of order for two months now and now another 4 are broken. It does not take months to get these done. Come on!
Friendly staff & clean equipment. It's less busy than a gym & they have great classes.
Great pool but I think they shortened their hours on Sundays 12-4pm. Used to be 5
Great place to play hockey!
Usually not crowded during day. They have Rowing macines, weight room, bikes, treadmills, eliptical macines. Can get hot in weight room and rowing area. They need fans. But still great place to workout.
Nice facility with two ice rinks. The facility also has a gym and pools. One ice rink has large stadium seating. The other rink has limited seating up high so you can see the whole rink.
Very nice facility with plenty of lanes for lap swimming. I "shopped around" the other pools in the downtown & Sugarhouse area and this one is definitely the best for fitness minded individuals.
I do deep water aerobics six days a week and I love the pools we do it in. Clean women's dressing room, hot showers, nice place to come to my excerise.
The gym here is fantastic huge variety on equipment. Ice skating rink is a great place to walk in the hot summer months. Might even catch a hockey game or two.
I've only been there once and it was to watch a high school hockey game, but the facility was really nice and clean. It's a great, little venue for hockey games.
First class sports complex!
After finding that EVERY SINGLE ice rink in the area had strange hours and we're closed at peak hours on a weekend, I found this place. I won't have a problem finding a good place in the future because I've found OUR place.
Holiday complex is great for families, hot tub is for adults only which I love, I come here to relax and soak my bones as I drive truck and in the winter it is a wonderful therapy
I have been going there for 4 years. The facility is clean the exercise equipment is old the staff is helpful.
The city should put more into there facility.
They have great classes and the pool is always clean. Their ice skating birthday parties are a lot of fun.
Very nice place to go Ice Skating, or play Hockey.
Great ice rink and cheap but high quality recreation classes!
Very large facility. Well used. Great Staff. Lots of programs and room to do your thing. Lots of equipment. Extremely busy early and late.
Very nice facility. Two ice rinks inside, great seating. Overall very impressive.
Locker rooms are kinda nasty, parking sucks when there's hockey or figure skating events, but the gym is decent and it's close to my home so I'm a member.
Great place to find what you are looking for in fitness and relaxation. I look forward to the outdoor pool opening up for the summer. Friendly staff.
Great place for work out. At the summer time they open outdoor pool which is great for training and hangout.
Great facility with lots of activities. The twin ice rinks are very nice.
Great place for our 14U tournament. Fun to see our boys play on an olympic sheet of ice.
It is a very nice place to do exercise and have fun. The staff are kind, the place is clean, and the equipment is old.
I like the place. I go there because of the gym and the pool. It’s never busy, so I always have a machine to exercise or a lane to swim. It’s a little more expensive than other options, but having a pool and an available gym make it a good choice.
This is an excellent facility. My mediocre rating comes from crowded pools, full parking lots and a poorly maintained locker room.
Cold but had a hot cocoa coffee vending machine delicious
Cheap for the whole family, has a great gym, pool and two ice sheets. Plenty of free machines
The swimming pool is ok, if you are visiting for an event be sure to be at least 30 min early because parking has very limited space.
Watched my grandson play hockey. Great facility and warmer than most ice rinks.
Beautiful sports complex on the University of Utah campus that has 2 sheets of ice, a workout facility and an indoor and outdoor pool.
Great outdoor 50m pool (summer). Indoor pool and hot tub, ice rinks, weights, machines, yoga, stationary bike classes, etc
Thinking about getting a membership here. Great location and very clean amenities
Love coming her! Nice staff and great facility!
Friendly staff and great facilities. I never feel unwelcome when my friends and I come for the public skate.
Love the pools. Outdoor 50m is great, relaxing hot tub. Love it all!
Great place for events, the staff is easy to work with to plan things like hockey tournaments. 2 ice rinks!
Ice arena was useful and fun with lots of ice skates handled a large group (ysa stake activity) graciously.
Great facility. Clean. Friendly staff. Very reasonable prices.
Nice gym. Never crowded.
Very nice and clean facility. they have a lot of different things to do, I never get bored there.
Indoor track is great when it's so hot outside
I'll give them five stars but once again I never went there but I've never been there.
Great place to play hockey. Refs are not that great and there are 2 very unprofessional ones there.
Clean facilities. Friendly staff. Many different options for work out available. Do aikido.
Checking out some high school hockey
when i went there for skating they were nice got me clean skates i had a good time there never been to a nice place like this
Excellent pools. Nice ice sheets. Phenomenal all around.
A great public recreation facility, the outdoor 50meter pool is excellent
I'd appreciate if they could switch from politics to gym related materials on their TVs.
Dont use the vending machines. They rip you off and you wont get refunded.
We were there to watch a hockey game. It seemed nice.
The fitness room or weight room can use a bigger space and more muscle specific instruments
Great county resource. It has really nice equipment, and it is hardly ever crowded.
A perfect day for a swimming workout. I only wish I could come every day.

Sporty poo.
Giant, clean, well lit parking area. The front of the building is modern and clean. The inside is modern and clean. There is a nice information desk as soon as you walk in the door. There are men and women locker rooms with showers. There is a giant olympic size swimming pool with swimming Lanes and for seniors there is a large and wide Walking In The Water Lane. If you feel unsure about your swimming talent there are floatables that you can wear. There are lifeguards. Upstairs there is a world class gymnasium with all sorts of machines to get in shape including dead weights. Anybody like playing on the ice? They have their own ice rink Stadium. I forgot to mention something about the swimming pool, there is another one and it is outdoors but open only during the right season. This place is vast upstairs and downstairs but if you're handicapped there is a modern elevator. I am a senior citizen with Medicare and my medicare pays my gym fee to use this place it costs me nothing. If you have Medicare check your policy to see if they offer free gymnasium if they do this is the place to go.
(Translation) There is a very large pool here. 11 tracks. Nice sauna in the changing room. Jacuzzi. Here you can also work out on simulators, go ice skating. Good prices. Swimming pool - $ 7 one-time visit. Skating, along with the rental of skates, is also about 6-7 dollars. There is an outdoor pool. For lockers in the locker room, you need to bring your own padlock.
