Reviews of Massasoit State Park
Great park (dog friendly) for walking, hiking, bike riding, horses and most other outdoor activities with easy trails. The camp sites are nice with water (not to drink but do you)and electricity in each section. The bathrooms are mostly clean with showers. There's a small pond where you can swim ;pictured;(closed off with buoys, only 3ft deep at most and no life guards). There's also a small playground (swings for babies only). The entrance has fire wood for sale but bring plenty of water since you can't buy there and no bubblers. Fishing and kayaking is fun there too. No motorized vehicles allowed except e-bikes I think since I've seen few around and no horses in camp sites. Quite hours are 10pm-7am. No alcohol allowed. Park rangers patrol. Great family fun for decent price.
It was nice, but lots of people everywhere. I stopped on Friday morning and it was busy. I can't image what Sat./Sun. are like here. Lots of trails and mountain bikers. Water was cold and nobody was in it. That would bring even more folks. The camp ground was filling up with several trailers checking in.
We did the Lake Rico and big bearhole pond trail. The scenery was gorgeous and the trails were well taken care of.
My first time visiting the state park. Lots of different types of trails from easy to aggressive for walking or mountain biking. Many people walking their dogs. Looking forward to ride more trails on my mountain bike.
Camped for three nights and had a wonderful time. Good facilities and firewood was reasonable. Rangers were very friendly.
I love ❤️ this place! it's so nice to have a beautiful woodsy place to walk the dogs. They love it & have great fun!
I wish people would give it more respect & care though. I regularly bring an extra bag with me to pick up trash people drop. It makes me sad to see that some care so little for it. It won't be around long if we don't treat it better.
Great place to go trail walking and spend a little alone time with Jesus!!🙌🙌🙌🙌 …
Great campground. Clean sites. Easy to navigate. Great for kids and camping with friends.
Beach wasn't too far away. It was clean. Water was warm. Decent fishing.
I always enjoy this park. There are a variety of trails, marked and unmarked, to make your hike as long or short as you'd like. Dogs must be leashed per park rules, and thankfully most people obey the rule. It would be nice if they packed out their poopie bags!
Our favorite local spot for hiking & kayaking! Gets very muddy on some trails after a good rain or when the snow melts, so don’t wear your best shoes. Tons of trails to choose from!
Beautiful state park. The trails were great to hike on with the kid. It's a pet friendly place on and off the trails. There are places to fish and canoe and of course camp. Definitely recommend this park for a day trip with the kids just to get out.
I've been coming here sporadically for years and years but was pleasantly surprised on my last visit a week ago. The park has positively transformed over the years. Trails/paths are clean and I noticed new spaces, bathhouses, etc. Very happy with the progression of this park. Photo shows the main road which you can walk along or choose to veer off of and explore woodsier paths.
Great local state park where you can walk the paved road or any of the wooded trails. Views of three ponds. Lots of single track bike trails.
It is terrific to get out for a winter hike. Some of the trails are a bit challenging with compacted snow and ice - not so much of a problem, but something to plan for.
Great place for a walk, hike or bike. I love the scenery, the rock piles with positive, encouraging messages on them, and the picnic table views. Give it a go
Really loved the hiking and the quiet solitude in the pines. The only complaint is the current status of the trail map. We used All Trails and although it was crisscrossed with tons of trails, many intersections and trails were either missing or incorrect. We never felt that we were going to get lost, but it added some slight confusion that made it it more complicated than necessary.
Beautiful! Went here to do an outdoor family photoshoot for a client and the pictures came out fantastic. Took some landscape shots between moving the group to different spots. Lots of wonderful trails and cute little paths to cross and hike down too. Will definitely be a place to return to for some more good shots.
I have loved this park my whole life. From horseback riding, biking and hiking. To camping with family. I am so happy to see all the many improvements.
Good variation of trails. Enough intersections to mix it up even on the back to either parking lots. Horses and cyclist will find it perfect. Great views at dawn and dusk for photos.
Great camping and hiking trails. Beautiful ponds and a beach for campers.
It is one of my go to places to run, walk with the dog, or walk with family and friends. It has come a long way and glad to see that the Camp site is open.
Excellent park 👏 👌 me and my wife like so much we love to live in the park ❤ …
Newer bathrooms, updated the grill ,table and fire pit. Swimming area still small .. there's a dish sink too and hot water.. make sure you know how long your going to stay. $9 to add a day and up to park to give refund if over booked yourself ☺️. Dont book D-85, 87,89,93, 94 it's very small and at cliff. Bathroom is right across from 79 it's not where the map shows**☹️
My happy place!! I Hike the trails deep into the park every, single day with my best friend, Fred! He might enjoy it there more than even I do!! Well that's probably just cuz Freddy's a 3yr.old pug shire terrier! We spend large amounts of time exploring different parts of the park until we new most of it by heart, and it's huge!! I would recommend u head over there with the dog or ya kids or even solo! Great place, good thing I live 1.3miles from the park.... UPDATE 3/10/22, STILL LOVING THIS PLACE! ME AND MY DOG LOVE HITTING THE TRAILS YEAR ROUND, AND HAVE NO PLANS TO STOP ANY TIME SOON!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF U HAVE A DOG OR JUST LOVE NATURE!! 👍🏼
A wonderful state park to go to with a couple of great trails, nice camp ground and some beautiful lakes that will just make you just want to sit there and enjoy nature around you.
We had a blast! Got site with electric and water. Super staff here!
Huge kids playground, some trails, good campground spots, next to water, clean and maintained. Not a huge park, but quite nice and pleasant.
I grew up around here and it was great for it to get cleaned up in recent years. The paths are great and marked better then I've seen in years. My family and I camped here this summer and I was pleased to see it looks great!
Beautiful place to relax and enjoy nature. Plenty of trails and paths to get lost in. Try it out. You won’t be disappointed.
So many cute ducklings suggest you go when it is almost summer because you will see all the cute babies just don't go to close😂 …
Great place to take the dogs for a walk, or to go kayaking. There is a campground as well. Many trails off of the main path, I've seen people fish, and horses go walking. Just look out for some people on dirt bikes.
Beautiful peaceful area to walk and get in dome exercises. Plenty of bike trails
I desperately want to love this park, but it has it's flaws. It's very "touristy" and the trails are often scattered with fallen branches or trees. Lot's of mountain bikers oh the "hiking trails" too. The renovations are a nice sight though.
Wonderful place,it was a beautiful day.we took the dog for a walk there. Oct 2019
Beautiful early spring day. Many other hikers out. Only did about mile hike along pond. Many different paths to explore.
Awesome trails, pretty low key, lots of families, bikers, and dog walkers. Sometimes people on horseback. Summer: mosquitos are intense, wear big spray and check for ticks. Also beware the park has several trails closed for rehabilitation, and when it rains, they get flooded/mucky - especially near the lakes.
My daughter loves to paint "Kindness rocks" and we hide them all over the trails here... take your kids for a walk and try to find some 😊 …
Early morning fishing adventure
Clean and accessible trails, able to get to the main road when needed. Enjoy walking these trails with my dog and then letting him sit in the water till he cools off and we walk back. The trails are wide enough to allow bikes and other walkers to pass with easy to follow trail markers.
Nice and clean, free hot showers, very quiet and peaceful. Free water spigot bring a water container
Great day hike area. We went after several rains and it was not muddy. Seemed busy at the time and we didn't bump into anyone in the woods. Beautiful views, bring a lunch and sit by the lake.
Massasoit is a nice state park. While it's smaller than Myles Standish, they've done a good job with their new playground, gazebo, and have some freshly paved road. It's one of my favorite places to rollerskate or bring my dog on a walk.
Don't tell anyone, great place for hike with dog! Oh !!! Please clean up after you go.
Beautiful and fun if you love nature. Cheap for residence. Clean. Happy camping.
love this place it is beautifull and nice to get away from city and unwind. good bass fishing as well
Did the 5 Pond Trail. Great hike. Lunch after at one of the lakes.
Beautiful views awesome trails and a wonderful place to go walking or riding with my family. A picnic was a plus.
Great park, really nice campground. Friendly staff. The swimming area is not great, very small and very shallow. Getting water was not as easy as most campgrounds. Usually there are spigots along the road every few sites. We saw none along the road in our loop and needed to use the sink at the bath house. There is a nice dish washing station at the bathhouse. The park was exceptionally quiet at night, even on Saturday night. Good trails for mountain bikes. Awesome playground for younger folks...
They've done an outstanding job bringing this place back to life!
Always enjoy a good hike here!
Calm quiet and peaceful
Very clean. Fun ! Peaceful! Great for Camping too !
Great trail riding on my mountain bike. Usually a lot of hikers near the road, so be careful, but once you get deeper in the woods or over near the gravel trails it's way more open. No real rocks, but super rooty.
Always love hiking and fishing here. Has been a childhood favorite.
If you like hiking, walking, bike riding or you just want to get away from your crazy family for a few hours this is the place.
Great local lake/pond-side, paved and dirt trails - take your pick!
I love this place I've been coming here since I was a little girl, I have six children and they love it here too it's clean and affordable
The reason we come here and will continue to come here is its proximity to where we live and the fact it has electric and water on each sites. The sites here are shaded and large. There are some nice trails to hike and it’s pet friendly. It a pretty small campground with not much to do. Place to stay for a weekend tops. The bathrooms were neglected, empty soap dispensers and lack of toilet paper in some of the bathrooms. With that said, you get what you pay for.
A pretty park with nice trees but the campground could be better. The sites are very hit or miss. some are great looking, ours wasn't. I got a waterfront one, you couldn't see any water whatsoever , it was very small, on a slant on the edge of the cliff and had a giant boulder taking up half the spot. It was also 2 ft from the road with no privacy, a guy with a light on his head rode his bike by over and over all night which was unnerving, I think it was someone who worked there because why would anyone do that, or be allowed to do that. Before 8am they start roaring around many times in a little 4 wheeler cart that you could never sleep through. There was trash in the campsites, so not sure why they keep riding around, they should use their time to perhaps clean them, as out of state residents are paying a whopping $48 plus taxes and fees to sleep on the ground between a rock and a road.
One of my favorite places but has A lot of bugs in the summer. Only negative for me.. otherwise amazing trails, camping, kayaking, picnic and playground!
Huge amount of walking paths. Water is clean. Not many bugs. Great for dogs.
I walk or hike there at least once a week. Great trails!
Great place to camp locally. The bathrooms are spotless, the water and electric hook-ups work great, the beach area and grounds are very well kept, and the woman who works at the registration desk is so kind and professional! There is lots of hiking and biking trails and we saw people riding their horses there too! So glad camping has returned to this state park. I only wish they had facilities to dump the sewer tanks.
The park is pretty nice. There are a number of trails for hiking/bike riding and a good size lake, Lake Rico, for fishing and kayaking. Parking for the lake is off the road leading to the park access, however there are trails inside the park that lead out to a number of access points to the lake. There's also camping in the park, but I don't know anything about that so I can't speak on that. There's a nice playground off the park road, a few things for older kids and a small section for the younger kids too.
Park closes at dusk.
Main gates were closed all winter...
-Maybe it was covid related or maybe its like that every year i don't know, but you can park and walk in if this is a winter time visit.
There is a map that indicates trails around the park.
Overall I give it two thumbs up
Recent renovations have made Massasoit a must visit! Trails for every person, hiking, biking, kayaking or dog walking! While it's still being worked on, it's a beautiful place.
Very large state park with multiple entrances and places to park. Popular for kayaks, fishing, mountain biking and walking your dog! You'll always see a handful of cute turtles and the the trails can be easy or provide a challenge once you start to form a list of your favorites.
Great place for walking and bike riding.
This park is spacious with plenty of trails to discover. It is abutting Lake Rico where people can fish, boat or just relax. There is also a playground for the kiddos to enjoy and picnic tables. A very clean park as well, highly recommended.
Beautiful park with well maintained hiking paths. Lots of wildflowers and wildlife to be seen. The cranberry bogs are fun to walk around. The playground is in good repair. Lots of things to do here for outdoorsy families.
Great campground. So glad I went. Would be 5 stars but I feel like a lot of the sites are on top of each other.
I love this park. It is well kept but not manicured. It is great for hiking and riding bikes. The paths in the woods are well marked and it is a great place for families with young children or small dogs. It is not very hilly terrain so it is very low impact. The beaches are nice to go to but you usually can't go in the water. There is also a wide paved path throughout the park for those who would rather walk or ride on that. Great for strollers. We love it there.
Nice park. Good location with multiple hiking trails. A few campsites have no shade, which could be a drawback. Good central local for exploring the cape, Plymouth and Providence.
It's a beautiful, well treed state park with gorgeous views of Lake Rico. Even with cut backs, it's amazing how well maintained the staff are able to keep it. The trails are clearly marked and mostly litter free. Hats off to whoever managers this fine park.
Great back-in spots for RVs. Very clean and realizing. DCR/park staff can be seen frequently maintains the grounds. I recommend reserving a camp site as early as you can. The park does allow one night stays and many people seem to reserve a sight for Saturday only. This of course can make it difficult to get a while weekend of camping in when spots are scarce. Additionally, you must reserve a sight at least 24 hours in advance of your stay so don't expect to grab an extra day while you're already there.
Hello Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins half and whole numbers and Nannies? Pack up early and do not forget a blanket to surrender to. You can have a playground time, a fishing hole, and a nice trail to walk or ride. Horses are welcomed, respect their presence if you see them. Very nice upkeep. I really must say any grounds I have visited, are nicely kept. The atmosphere and mood of employees is healthy. If not, I would enlighten with some vote of confidence.
Beautiful place for a hilly hike or a non traffic stroll or bike ride on pavement. I would say that on the narrow paths it is really important to pick up after your dogs - hint hint. Seriously... people love dogs but hate being dog owners...
Love it here! Huge trails for bike riding and great place to bring your dogs for a walk. Their new playground is also very nice for the kids.
I had a awesome day checking out the new campgrounds beautiful nice beach clean bathrooms polite staff nice sites can't wait to camp real soon
Nice bathrooms, showers, and wash station. Can hike around the lake
What a hassle to get a site here. The lady at the front desk is super rude and condesending. No HOOKUPS!
Good place for mountain biking. You will mostly find flowy trails with roots. There are a few short yet fun downhill trails that are all around the south west part of the park. Trail variety isn't amazing but is definitely worth a visit.
Nice state park. Only issue was no sewer hookup which we knew ahead of time.
Beautiful campground of the park. Bathrooms need more attention throughout each day. Not the cleanest by far. Beach is kind of sketchy. Great paths for walking/ hiking/ biking. Great playground for young kids. We will be back. Great amphitheater and picnic/ fishing area.
Massasoit state park is great. There are many miles of trails and the 5 pond trail is very nice. Also, I've been told by the fishermen and fisherwoman that there are some decent sized bass in Lake Rico. I've also seen a bald eagle and a few other interesting species.
Plenty of trails in the woods and paved road for baby carriages. Canoeing and kayaking. Mountain biking, dog walking. The parking lot can be very crowded on Sundays.
So many different trails. A great place to take your pup!
This place is perfect for both long and short stays with our work out hook ups. If your a tent camper or an RV freak this place has a sit for you. So close to both highways and entertainment for anyone wanting for the night excursions into town. Nice bathrooms and the sites are well maintained with plenty of room between them. Definitely worth it for any level of camping. When I was there my dogs got away from me in the woods and the staff went above and beyond to return my dogs and make sure I was safe. Five starts for me.
Camp sites are a bit too open for my liking, but the site I had was pretty flat which made setup easy. Lots of families, and a fair amount of families with dogs. All in all, was pretty quiet. I would've rated higher, but during my setup I came across a used condom and feces at the edge of the site. It was far enough away from the main space, but still. If you bring your pet, clean up after it. Dont leave it for the next camper.
It was a great spot for a relaxing day for me and also for my 8 and 10 year old daughters. We enjoyed a little sight seeing and a swim over at the campers beach. The water was nice and clear and it wasn't too busy. After they swam and I relaxed in the sun, we went to the awesome new playground. My 10 year old is going through a very picky nothing pleases her stage and she loved it! Definately a great camping spot!!
Great playground! The kids absolutely loved it.
Lake Rico is a nice spot for relaxing, hiking and nature loving in general :)
My friends and I did walk so far on the paths in the woods that we ended up outside the park so maybe some more signage might be useful, but it's an absolutely beautiful park with an array of trails to hike in general.
Beautiful area, great and well maintained trails, playground is clean, and port-a-potties are serviced often. Just be prepared to always be in eye-sight of other people if you're going on weekends and holidays or any time when people get out of work.
Love this place
Dog and kid friendly lots of walking and bike trails
My Grandson loved the park they also have a lot of picnic tables which is a plus for eating lunch
The most recent popular one of Massachusetts State Parks.
It is huge, walking trails, camping, hiking, swimming, picnicking, and, so much more! Easy to find. You WILL, love it..
I didn't even want to go look. But, I'm certainly glad I went through to check it out.
J. A.
Plenty of trails for running biking etc enjoy
All the work and improvements they have made looks amazing. I can't wait to go camping. It's so fresh and new.
Love the new playground but not thrilled about the technology involvement. Should have put more effort into things kids can use their imagination with than technology.
5/8/18
It's starting to come along. New construction all over. Looking forward to pitching the tent here pretty soon.
I've visited this state park since I was a kid, and remember camping there with my own kids before the campground was closed. Now it's up and coming again, and I love seeing the improvements going on there. Hopefully the camping will be available within the next year or so. For now, we enjoy the hiking and mountain biking on the trails, and fishing in the various ponds. Lots of Geocache spots hidden here as well! I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an easy hike.
Beautiful outdoor trails to hike and wander through. I went with my whole family today and all the kids had an amazing time, lots to see and explore and one of the best playgrounds ever!!!
The campsites and facilities are well kept, the beaches and trails are stunningly gorgeous, and our pets felt at home!
The best park ranger is DEBBIE and she deserves all the praise for her customer service! The other DCR staff on site are very rude and show a clear disdain for anyone who appears to be struggling with poverty. They do this primarily through verbal interrogation, doing driving surveillance every 30 minutes, and making information about the site inaccessible. With the exception of Debbie, the staff made enjoying the outdoors/camping very stressful for my partner and I, and we will be wary of booking at this (or any MA state parks) ever again.
Love this park for hiking with the dog. Multiple parking lots, no admission fee, really large playground, and tons of wooded trails. There is also a campsite but have not stayed there.
I absoulty love Massasoit! I use to go camping there as a kid. So many good memories. I went back recently and it was just as beautiful as i remember. Massasoit is real camping. Theirs beautiful trails to hike on, theres a pond to go fishing and swimming. And they just added a cool play ground for the little ones. Each camp sight has water and electricity. Theres also have sights that dont have electrcity for those who realy lile to rouph it. It may not have all the bells and whisles like some camp grounds; it doesnt have arcades or swimming pools. Its just simple sereine campling. If thats wgat your looking for this is the camp ground for you. And its affordable too.
We really enjoyed our time walking in the woods and near the water. It was popular with mountain bikes so not quite as quiet a walk as we are used to. Still, accessible and pleasant.
I am not a camping person. My wife 💘 and friends go. They are very pleased with this campground! I went down for the weekend. Someone who isn't big on camping I have no complaints. …
Great place for walking whether you want paved road or to hike through the woods. Many mountain bike, jog, or even bring their horses. They are updating the camping area and installing a new playground which will be great when completed. Just remember your bug spray!
Lots of walking trails. Barely touched them so far... Busy so parking can be scarce on nice weather days. Water areas in some places and bugs are present in droves so protect or perish. Please pick up after your dog and dispose of properly as required by law and manners. Most people do so please keep it that way.
Great rehab with the campground, nice paths well maintained. What a beautiful day!
Sign two weeks maximum. No Drive-In spots. We stayed in B loop, it's shaped as a circle. It was nice & quiet. Some sites have like pavement parking . Kids can actually write with chalk in the site vs on the street. Bc of Covid, I think it was only 50%? capacity. So beach & playgrounds were never packed. But getting to either places was a bit of a hike, esp if you have lil ones ("my legs are tired" halfway there). If you carry more than just the necessities to the beach (think sand toys, kids floats, cooler, umbrella, etc), I'd suggest driving with it, drop off at beach & park in lot close by (which is still a little bit of a walk. You won't be able to see your car/lot from the beach). The playground was beautiful. Big, New, several different stations to keep lils entertained. There was a big, tall climbing structure. I imagine bigger kids could do it, but it didn't look safe to me. There's an app you can download that you scan at the different stations.
Staff def keep their presence known. Walk/ride around & let you know it's almost quiet time.
I had loads of fun camping here often as a child, so it holds a special place in my heart! A couple decades later it is still a great place to visit even if it's just for a little hike or to grab a table for a quick lunch. Camping has been reopened and they just put up a nice playground for the little ones!
Great staff and I like the area, great for camping.
Was a great spot. First time there. Parked and walked the shore around some of it and wadded out in spots. Water was clear. Lots of pads. Only caught a bunch of small larges mouths. Definitely going back to catch some bigger ones and hopefully some trout.
Absolutely beautiful place to camp and walk but if your camping thereu cant even visit your family after 8pm and the Rangers working are ridiculously strict! So have fun during the day Because you wont be able to roast a marshmallow with ya FAMILY
Great little State Park. Nice place to walk. You have a choice of paved roads or wooded trails and ponds to explore. We were disappointed that the gate to drive into the park was locked when we went on a beautiful day so with my disability we couldn't go far.
Beautiful walking trails. A large sandy area near a body of water. My daughter and I recognised deer tracks in the sand. Skunk cabbage !! love it.
Lastly, a cushioned playground with little zip lines and rock walls, just to name a few of the assorted rides for toddlers to age 12.
Beautiful scenery and well maintained trails. Showers need some work but other than that great place to stay for camping and hiking
Beautiful state park. Just watch out for rude Boston kayakers that paddle up and invade your nice quiet spot you found with your family. They might have obnoxious children that are oblivious with their kayak paddles, and wack your dog in the head.
The woman at the front desk is a complement to the park!!.. Couldn't ask for better service... The bathrooms are clean.. I did not see any trash on the many walks I took... I wish I could give more stars... What a great experience in the woods!!!
Despite it being the off season a d a few of the trails being closed, it was a beautiful place to go walking, jogging or biking. With Lake Rico in the park, it's great for canoeing and kayaking, not to mention fishing.
Looking forward to more adventures as it warms up
Great place to go for a walk with our dog
This place is alpaca friendly which my husband and I LOVE.
NO limits on how many alpacas you can bring. Great walking trails. Alpacas welcome. 5 stars.
This park is dog friendly with no breed restrictions. The staff we met were excellent and friendly. The sites were level and spread out nicely. Some sites are paved! Each are equiped with a fire pit and grill. The RV sites had new hookup tower with 20,30,50 amp service and water (No sewer). Plenty of trees for good shade. Bring your bug spray. There is a nice dump station but it has no running water there. No alcohol is permitted in this park so be discreet. The playground was very nice. The bathrooms are fairly new and very nice. They have dish washing stations, baby changing stations and showers (handicap accessible). The showers are free with plenty of hot water but there were no hooks or benches to put your stuff on. I unhooked the shower curtain hangers and hung stuff on those. There is no store in the park but firewood was available for sale. No laundry machines here so plan accordingly. There is plenty of RV parking at the check in station. The park does not have cable or wifi but cell service was great. This park is awesome for hiking, biking and kayaking. Caution... The trail map of the park is not accurate. We hiked trails east of the main road and we ran into numerous forks and intersections that weren't on the map. We came out on N Precinct St and had to walk 2.5 miles on the road back to our campsite. C'mon state, mark the trails better!! This is a great place to camp. Give it a try!
A good place to walk. Not crowded during the week. My visit was in the winter. They have trails, camp ground, children's play area and picnic tables and benches. The road through the park was closed to vehicle traffic and the campground was not open in the winter. I plan to go back this summer.
Great campground. Amazing playground, looks fairly new. Staff is really nice.
First time I have MTB at this trail. It was good lots of smooth trails. Not as Rocky as most New England trails. Some roots to make for a challenge. I have also kayaked a little here too and it was nice. The only issue is parking during the prime season this place fills up. I would recommend this spot to MTB riders, hikers, and paddlers.
Not bad for a redone park, small Forest is a gem in the big city of Taunton its amazing to have this place in the city I live. It has that DCR state Forest feel but unfortunately all the limited long list of rules that comes with state forest camping. No Drinking alcohol, lights out and quite time far to early, rangers patrol way to much more then any other DCR park it gets rather annoying but they are there to keep familys safe and they have done well for my family. The negitive sides are growing for instance I cant go swim with my wife after the kids go to bed they will kick you out. Thats a big reason to avoid DCR campgrounds now and in the future I will look elsewhere I pay to get outdoors and be able to relax with both family and just my wife and its nuts Im told I cant do the things i paid to do. Having a drink will get ya booted so pretty much any and all adult fun is a rule voilation of some rule thats not posted. Would give 5 stars if I could swim at will.
I will be back next year I had a great time
Very nice place to enjoy fall color. Very dense of woods. You can take car over there and park it. May be sometimes gate is open and you can drive through the woods. We found gate is closed. We had to park outside and walk through it.
Great place to walk, jog, bike or kayak! Also has a new playground. No swimming though. It has sunny paved roads, as well as shady wooded trails. So great in fact that it is usually pretty crowded here.
Very easy trails along all if the Ponds.
Had a decent site bathroom were clean quite. Bug bites were tough
Massisiot state park is a beautiful parl, with trails and camping. I went to this park to teach my 8 year old child with autism to ride her bike. We eat lunch on a picnic table and listened to all the birds. Everyone walking or driving by waved and was very friendly. We found an amazing playground for my child to play on, even I was having tons of fun on the seat zip line, and the bass/boat seesaw. It was a great experience and im planing on going back for a amazing play ground and in a great area. For play ground you drive in and just keep going straight and you'll see huge play ground on the right hand side. Trust me in worth it if you have children!!
It's a very nice place to walk, you can do trails or just walk on the road. They need more trash cans. People are picking up after their dogs, but leaving the bags laying around.
This is a city place to recconect with nature...if you were ever connected. The trails are well mapped out but dont get caught in here to late. It is def a place you can get lost in. There is a camping area and lots of little spots to just hang out or set up to sit around.
It is well kept by the folks that work there. They do a real good job!
Great trails, need to be marked better and map needs to be marked better..if you get off trail it's hard to tell where you are on the map..other than that I had a great experience at the park!!! All employees are very nice and helpful... Could not ask for any better!!! I would recommend this park to anyone!!! 5 star in my book!!!
At the moment the breach is closed, but its a beautiful place. They are very stick about only 4 adults on a site especially after visiting hours (8pm). Recommend getting addtional site if want more company in the evening. All and all a great time.
Have not been there for a few years now, but camping at Massasoit is back, read that it has campsites renovation we'll be back. The trails were always a great asset to the park. Nothing like a wilderness walk and the wild life that live there getting a surprise glimpse of one of them. By the way to the Man that complained about the Coyote , the fact is you are their guest there and they probably feel the same about you !!! So if you don't want to share with nature stay in your City.. Yes Massasiot is a really nice State Park if for enjoying many activities and nature.
Quiet place to just relax and take in some nature and bring out the beast in ya lol very clean, good fishing kayaking spot too
Great trails for just a walk with your dog, kids and family friendly. Great view of Lake Rico. I would say the trail would fit for beginners to medium level of difficulty. Overall great hike trail!
Nice place to walk many trails
Great peaceful place to go for walk, bike, hike, picnic..or just sit and have coffee while watching the kayakers and swans on the lake.
Clean family park with lots to do, we had a great time camping, our site was paved with plenty of space for our motorhome and parking, we enjoyed kayaking the 3 different lakes, and the numerous hiking trails, great playground and the small beach area, definitely coming back next year
Beautiful lake. Nice place to Kayak or sit and enjoy a picnic.
Love walking through the trails
Go there with my dog regularly, glad they put in porta-pottis recently. they're reopening the camping area so worried about my favorite woodsy area being over run with people, already annoying how many loose dogs on the trials. But other than that nice place.
Love this park. Great for walking, biking, and the kids loved it. There's even a playground..
Great place for camping, has electric and water hookup.
This is a beautiful place, I love hiking and camping here. It's slower in the winter. If you have the right gear, it's so lovely after it snows.
Had my first winter camping experience here. Our canvas tent collapsed under 6" of snow. Warm, though. I also caught my biggest largemouth bass in that water. Very fond memories.
I love how the park has been improving lately . I hate the fact Lake Rico closes at dusk great night fishing. It is cleaner though and the care into the park is showing.
Definitely Better than a few years ago, but trails could be marked better
Wooded camp site, lots of hiking and biking trails, bird watching, wildflower garden, very scenic, clean, pretty quiet for a state campground.
Nice trails. Only saw a small part of the park but it was quiet and beautiful on the Rico trail which is a winding trail that goes by lake Rico and back to the parking lot. About 1.5 miles.
Nice running trails. Great for mountain biking and horseback too. Smooth lakes for canoeing. Slow through the lots, people everywhere and the traffic loops around them.
Awesome place very nice people too the dogs love it
Camp grounds renovated, clean, new bathrooms, showers. Campsites will water and electricity are a godsend. Staff super friendly and helpful. Kudos!
Not the most intense hikes in the area but beautiful nonetheless. Perfect for those just starting to hit trails both on foot and on bikes.
My family's favorite little get away but close to home!!
Clean and quiet beautiful place to walk or camp.
Nice hiking any season
I love the place since there’s so much diversity biking, fishing, hiking, picnicking, etc.
Awesome State park. Great camping 🏕, fishing 🎣 walking 🚶♂️. Something for everyone. Great playground 👍 …
Really great campground the rangers are awesome place is very neat and clean with lots of deadstanding and other firewood nearby if you ever in the Taunton area i recommend camping here
The place was awesome. A gem. Has so many trails for walking your dogs. Was there today with husband and our two beagles and there were other friendly dogs and plenty of trails.
Massasoit State Park is a surprisingly natural environment. This state park has great trails for hiking and a great lake for kayaking, canoeing and fishing. Some of the trails are more clear then others, however the MA DCR does not staff this state park. This park had camping on designated sites at one point, however camping is no longer available at this point. The trail map for this park, which is found on the MA Dept of Conservation and Recreation website is rough at best and doesn't indicate the different color markers used for each trail. Take a picture of the trail map board at the main entrance with your smartphone and use that as well as the online trail map. The park gives you a real opportunity to get out into nature and away from daily stress and aggravations.
This is a great spot for kayaking, which can be accessed from Middleboro Ave to Lake Rico. Its great to be on a lake and not have to deal with motorized boats when kayaking or canoeing.
Best place for heart healthy walks😊! …
I want to give Massasoit one star so maybe less people will go, but I can't because Massasoit is a great local park. The work they've done has improved the layout of this park greatly and it is now a weekly destination for the family.
Now that they are taking care of the trails again it's a great place to hike. Very quiet and peaceful. Good place to bring your dog too!
Great place to explore, fishing, hiking, biking, camping, cook outing, ect. 17 dollars a night, but it doesn't include electricity, but u can for an additional 4 to 7 bucks a night. I love it
I always like taking the kids here. It's only walking trails but it's nice and clean and relaxing. There's always nice people around work dogs my kids love to pet :)
Great spot for Kayaking, Biking and Hiking the well groomed trails,(different terrain for everyone).
Massasoit have great hiking, walking trails. It's a safe place to teach children how to ride bikes or just for them to ride. If you're looking for exercise the road is long and just amount of small hills.
Massasoit State Park.

Popular but quiet. Picturesque. Great for walking, biking or hiking.
Place is pretty cool. There used to be a lot of teas growing in the area. You can swim with some big snapper turtles too
We did not have much time so we did not get to explore all the trails. But with what we had seen this park is a great place for a good stroll whether it's with your family or with your pets.
Beautiful park. The campground is well maintained, staff is friendly, and the trails are great for hiking and mountain biking.
Explore enough and find hidden past time childhood memories
We loved it, especially meeting one of the local celebrities, Hogan the very large 11 year old Malamute Husky, we'll definitely be back in the future 🙏✋💜😎 …
Went camping here and had birthday parties numerous times growing up, was a lot better then in my opinion. But happy to see them back open again after years of being closed.
Went on a field study with my class from school, we loved it!! The trail we went on was fun and the amount of bluejays we saw was crazy haha ❤
Very nice, great nature trails to walk your dog. Trail is right next to water. People are friendly. Place is clean
Great park to walk dogs. Nice wooded trails, and ponds to look at. Hear it is opening for camping again soon, possibly for 4th of July weekend.
Trails were so fun and doable for my 5 and 3 year olds. There were no maps and many trails we're closed. Otherwise a great time
Quiet and peaceful, staff so nice, and great fishing!
Fishing. A nice place to meditate (if you can tolerate bugs). Chill spot to park and get to know someone on a peaceful level.
Nice place with trails, lakes, natural environment, dedicated camping sight, kids play area, etc.
This park is a gem. It recently underwent a makeover and revived from a longtime closure due to a lightning strike that wiped out the electrical system. MSP it's back better than ever!! Thank you friends of MSP and our local senators for restoring this park.
Great for mountain biking, kayaking and hiking. Lake Rico is good size. Take the kiddos or the doggos or both.
Clean, quiet, and not at all like a KOA. No swimming pool, no bounce house!! As close to "real" camping you can get and still have electricity & running water.
Walk my dogs there. In good weather we walk the trails. Nice place. Just wish people would pick up their dogs poop before it gets ruined for others.
Great trails for walking and running. Paved access road is good for teaching little ones how to ride a bike. Trails are not good for mountain biking.
DCR has done a GREAT job of revitalizing the park! All new or refurbished facilities, plenty of rest rooms, and nicely located campsites,
Great park horrible political control over it ! It's still gated on weekends and it belongs to the people of America not the park politicians ! open our parks It's our God given freedom !!
Great park to hike or bike whether alone or with friends. Grea t place to teach kids how to fish. No cars can enter so all on foot.
A wonderful park to visit. Seasonal camping available!!

Walk my dog daily here, many trails and it is beautiful here!!
Lovely park. Open to campers. Recently fixed up. Great place to ride bikes on and off road, walk or hike.
Great park for walking in the woods with a lake for canoeing, etc. Facilities that were destroyed by lightning storm are being repaired. It appears they may again have functional camp sites.
Did not get to visit the day the grandkids wanted to go as they were doing construction I guess so really only got to parking lot and think it was a hiking trail,no one to ask don't even know if it costs to go there (swimming) really no information just that parking lit was clean
Really nice place to spend a little time fishing,or just getting out of the sun.there are a lot of different birds.i could not believe some of the colors on the birds I saw at the park in july.very peaceful place, people are frendly I actually felt like I was on another planet.im not used of people greeting me and just talking kindly to me for no particular reason.i will make more day trips to Massasoit state park this summer
Easy to get around for all ages. Place to go for a good hike without all the dirt and bumps. Also dirt trails if you want to challenge yourself

I would have given 5 stars but there is a lot of construction going on there right now. When they finish I will revise my review and post all the details regarding the new amenities and additions
Very well kept with a brand new playground and a newly paved road, along with fun biking/walking trails
First time, love this place with the exception of the mosquitoes (they ate me alive). My pup loves the park.
would be better if people kept their Dog's on leashes... don't look for vet $ when your unleashed dog approaches my leashed dog and it goes VERY bad for your UNLEASHED dog.
I went camping here a couple years ago and I moved it I wanted to come back and didn't no it was closed!! That's awful that they closed I had fun and it was nice and quiet!!! I think they need to re-open!!!!
Beautiful place! Serene and relaxing!
Perfect fee and satisfaction!! :)
Great place to go for a walk or ride a bike. Make sure you visit the lake down the very end of the road then to the left
Very relaxing safe peaceful environment. Will be going back there for sure. Also dog friendly
Hidden gem here in Taunton. Nice hiking trails and a great playground for the kids.
Such a beautiful place to hike, ride your bike, walk your dogs, etc.
Too many bugs, too many pine trees. Sap ruined everything! Staff was nice but some of them took "authority" to a crazy level.
