Reviews of Lily Bay State Park
J ennifer
Nice level camp site. A little tight with tree branches getting in, but no real issues. Water and dump station available plus nice updated bath house. Nice beach area for swimming with no lifeguard present. Area with dock for getting boat in and out. Nice playground near campsites. Junior ranger program the kids enjoyed with coloring/activity Book and junior ranger patch.
Michele Kane
Lily Bay State Park is a great place to spend the afternoon. Beautiful lake with picnic tables, boat launches and a playground There are simple trails that take you through the surrounding woods. Great stop if in the area.
Christa L (American Girl Doll)
Absolutely magnificent! Pristine, spotless crystal clear waters. Plenty of Parking, picnic tables, and bbqs available. Incredible sunsets
Barclay Smyly
Gorgeous views of Moosehead Lake. Clean, clear water, was a refreshing swim. Looking forward to camping here next time we are in the area.
Jonathan Ellis
Don’t feed the wildlife! This place was great i mean the deer will come straight up to you and want to be your best friend. Took a day trip here with the wife and in-laws and we had a great time. Theres no running water at the camp sites but we still made the most of it. The area is gorgeous and its worth it just to see Moosehead lake. If you want to relax by a campfire, listen to the looms on the lake and see more stars than you ever have before, this is the place for you. Awesome place for kids or if you have pets. Just an all around good time
Zans Garrett (Zarkovi)
Loved the views of the lake from the walk in the tent loop in the Rowell Cove campground. Unfortunately loud generators from the folks with campers made things less fun. Luckily they did follow the rules and turned them off at eight.
James Gender
Lovely views, helpful charming staff, and perfect conditions in late July. Astonishingly few bugs. Clean clear moosehead water!
Ed Conley
Beautiful state park in the Moosehead Lakes Region of Maine! Easy to find, well marked entrance. There is a small fee to enter the park, but you can leave and come back later in the day. Very friendly people at the entrance gate. This park is dog friendly. Clean, well maintained grounds. Clean, conveniently located, restrooms. Plenty of campsites, boat launch locations, a beach, plenty of picnic tables, grills, incredible views of the crystal clear lake and the beautiful mountains. There is a well marked trail that starts at the picnic area. We were lucky enough to see deer, wild turkeys, brown squirrels and a female moose. There are many things to do nearby. This park is well worth the small fee to enter.

We go through Lily Bay to put on the boat to get to our island. Park services include camping, public baths with showers, beaches, boat docks, picnic area for day usage. I'm sure there's more, but we don't actually stay in the park.
Christina Kaslow
Wildlife. Great location. Great showers & bathrooms. Great sites. A favorite!!!
William Anderson
What a beautiful place and a really nice park! Friendly staff and halfway decent restrooms!
MR. Allen
Wow! Absolutely incredible! Super cheap price per night during the summer months. Everything that you could ever want in a park. The front entrance check in employee was very nice. The weather was in the 70's and sunny. The view at the beach was beautiful. My dog could swim but only in an area that I found away from people.
Cody Greenlaw
Hands down, one of my favorite campgrounds in Maine. Such a beautiful spot offering an endless adventure! It is a quiet, clean, and well maintained park with respectful employees. It has all the amenities to suit multiple types of camping!
Shana Matthews
In my opinion, Lily Bay is one of the most beautiful campgrounds in Maine. The campsites are a nice size. They have lovely sites right on the water, so you can get your own little beach. The water is so crisp and clean. There is a bath house that has free HOT showers, working plumbing - which is GREAT for your morning constitution. It's relatively quiet, but not uptight about laughing and hanging out by the fire (I've been to a few of *those* places). Just highly recommend!
Stephanie Hayduk
Loved it here! I was only planning one night but stayed 3, because it was so beautiful and perfect. Get a spot along the water if possible. The views are amazing. Wildlife everywhere and appear to be quite comfortable around humans. Outhouses are clean and located pretty close to all campsites. You’ll want to drive to the shower house though, it’s up the road a bit. Super clean and plenty of them available. There’s a hiking trail between this campground and the one next door. Walk it! It’s awesome.
april hughes
The deer are wonderful and friendly. Showers are really hot and free. Hand soap in the bathrooms and a few outdoor sinks for your dishes. Great boat launch and playground. Very private camp sites heavily wooded with water spickets and porta potties located close enough between every few sights. Exceptionally clean camp grounds. We love winter camping when its 1st come 1st serve. Just drive around and pick any sight you want. Even though they no longer take reservations for Fall and super early Spring, they will still leave a few hot showers and bathrooms open (but not all of them) we go in October and May and the showers are never a waiting game.. Generally only 5 or 8 sights are even occupied at those times. Keep an eye out for raccoons though, they crawled right into my pan on the picnic table while I was sitting at the campfire.. Silly racoons. Deer will come join you for lunch at tour camp sight.. And the Moose are always in the road at night, so be cautious while driving the main road..

This is the place in Greenville, ME if you are into camping in the woods. We were just driving around and admiring the nature here. There were lots of camping spots, pit fires, caravans and boats. This is a fun place to check out.
We even spotted couple of deers on our way outside.
Melanie Herrick
Lily Bay Maine state park is my favorite state park to go camping. If you want anything modern this is not the place for you. McDonald,Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks all replaced with waterfalls, mountain rides or hikes and great home cooked family diners. It's a must for anyone who likes the small town logging road, boating and 4 wheeler fun.
Cindy Ring
My husband and I spent the week Campground hoping. Lol Bay was our second so and it favorite our of the three we stayed at. There's a beautiful beach with a playground in sure if the water so everyone can enjoy the day right at the beach. The showers were great! The best water pressure I've felt in a long time and it was hot! If you stay in Rowell Cove you will need to drive or be prepared to walk/bike a mile to get to the showers. A little further for the beach. Those are both at the Dunn Point side. The site we stayed at was so clean and quiet. We had a site that wae surrounded by water on three side. It was like a mini peninsula all to ourselves. 16M on Rowell Cove side. Though it wasn't a great swimming spot the quiet seclusion is well worth the drive to the good swimming.
Ewa Kubiak-Thornton
What an awesome park. So many things to do with family and kids. Bring your snack (I didn’t it) no concession stand. None residence $6 to drive thru. It also has camp spots which I hope in the future to check out. You can also take a nice hike around the lake. Plan on spending here couple of hours
Vinay Golthaje
Fantastic state park on the banks of Moosehead lake. Great views of the lake. The water was very cold early in the September. Spotted lots of deers inside the park. The park staff were very friendly.
Hillary Colvin
The sound of loon calls, sites that you can launch your kayak from, a beach area with epic sunsets, hot showers. It's gorgeous. The only negative is that items were stolen from my campsite when I was away. Luckily it was relatively small stuff. A Rubbermaid bin full of odds and ends and orange levelers that were half broken anyway. I would stay here again.
Chris Manhattan
Beautiful state park with amazing views overlooking the mountains. Awesome sunsets and you can see the Milky Way Galaxy in the sky at night in the summer. This place is magical!
Ernest Grendell
Beautiful location right next to moosehead lake Great camping facility Easy access for boats to enter the lake
Rachelle Lofgran
This park is a must!! Beautiful park, friendly staff/rangers, I felt at home and wished I didn't have to leave, minus the sleeping on an air mattress that is. This is now going to be an annual trip for my family.
Jean Bergeron
The highlight of our annual visit is kayaking in Lily Bay exploring the many islands and coves and hiking a nearby mountain.
And of course, we love to visit the Spotted Cat Winery and Greenville for shopping and a meal.
Paul Villavicencio
Such friendly people at the gate! We loved driving around this park and taking in the beauty it has to offer. We saw many deer, whom didn't seem to be afraid of the humans nearby. It was a wonderful day and a wonderful experience!
Athena Bonnell
Very quiet park. Bring bug spray. Black flies are atrocious. Well kept. Close enough to Greenville that if you forget something you can get it there. Access to Moosehead lake. Lovely stay.
Sonia Bermonty
Not big but I loved it here, another hidden gem! First of all there's deers roaming the park that seemed to want to welcome you then even though the place is small they had basketball, volleyball and a play ground along with spots to fish and lay around or picnic and clean too
Our Adventures Hannah&Will
Our special place, more underwater photos to come!!
Kelsey Kirkwood
I've been visiting this campground since I was four years old. It's one of my favorite places to go!
Jess Bean
We had a nice time camping here for three nights in site 28 of Rowell Cove. There were some other great spots with swimmable water access that we would consider for a future trip. The beach area allowed for several groups to spread out and have some privacy - great tree options for hanging a hammock, and plenty of picnic tables. The wind can be quite strong and feels different on one side of the park vs. the other. Campsites are sometimes closer than we would prefer and don’t allow for as much privacy as one might want, but many of the walk in tent sites make up for that and don’t have too long of a trail for those used to strictly car camping.
john simpson
Beautiful park with great, helpful staff..had a great visit.
Janine Achury
Amazing experience. Love our camp site. Park staff was so nice with us. We are happy camping out there. If you want complity calm this is the place. Of course you have tosleep with the loon call every night but is so nice! We are in their home.
Keisha
The most beautiful lake and beach we've ever been to. The water is so clear. Wonderful place to visit.
Norman Long
What a place to stay short term or long term. So many things to see in the area nice boat launch and the state park staff is very nice, accommodating and informative! Highly recommend to visit!
Ryan Towle
What a great place. The sites and restrooms were clean and well maintained. The staff made great suggestions for short trips in the area. We had a site with its own little path to the water and we loved it, will definitely be back.
Joe Rogers
Lily Bay is a great place to get away. The beach is beautiful, and the park is well cared for....I mean it's aweful, you should never go there. 😉 …
Shane Parrish
Quite park with a small walking trail. Camping areas have great views of the lake. Very remote area but close to town.
Vannessa Gallant
Friendly, clean and perfect for family camping. Lots of wildlife!! The deer just wander through your site sometime, completely unfazed by our presence. Loved it!
Greg Marchand
Fantastic location, very good campsites, and wonderful staff. Ice and firewood are available. Parts of the year are first come, first serve - look for a site on the water! Great fishing, hiking, 4 wheeling and boating are all within easy reach. Don't feed the deer please - they are fun to see but have become far too tame now!
Kenyon Bajus
Nice park with playground, picnic tables in the shade, grills, sandy beach, slips for boats... Fun spot for a day with friends!
Linda Whitcomb
Beautiful state park on Moosehead lake. We saw 2 deer as were we driving around in the park. So beautiful. The beach so so beautiful.
Northwoods Fred
Wonderful staff! Beautiful sites! And a dump station for campers and RVs! Even if you don't camp at the park, it's only $20 to use the dump station!! Located on the eastern shores of Moosehead Lake, you are also close to other cool attractions like Moose, Prong Pond, Elephant Mountain and the B-52 Memorial!!
Ricky B
Very peaceful. Nice lake view.
Michael Harris
We where only there for a few hours but really enjoyed it. Great views of the lake. Playground, basket ball, volley ball, beach, lake, picnic tables, camping, etc.
Amber Sutton
We had alot of fun visiting and really loved all the different things to do while here.
Shelby Isbart
Lily Bay State Park is the most peaceful place I have ever been. I can't say enough about the scenery, the wildlife, the sights and smells, but what makes this park a TRULY exceptional place to stay are the RANGERS who work at Lily Bay. They're so kind, helpful and a true delight to see and talk with. Thanks for always helping to make our camping trips so phenomenal!
Jason Krone
Great place to enjoy the lake, fish, swim, boat, hike.
Tristan Giberson
Beautiful, saw some moose as well!
Beware most of the park is dirt road
Mitch Schifer
Very nice park. Stopped for a picnic. Will stay there next time we are up there.
Peter Gore
Does the State of Maine proud! First time camper and the facilities are really nice. The state park workers are super and do a great job of sanitizing and keeping the park clean. Individual shower facilities, but also a clean, clear lake in the form of Moosehead Lake. Very family and dog friendly, great hiking trails, and wildfife to encounter (deer, never fear). Also near great day adventures nearby including Mt. Kineo, which also had a golf course. Perfect place to camp and explore the Moosehead region.
Andrea “Andi” Williams
Beautiful park. Clean and sites looked to be large and well taken care of. Beach area is beautiful and clean. The lady at the check in asked us for $ 6.00 a piece (3 adults)1 to just drive through the park. I felt was steep and truly not necessary. She did let us in the park without paying. I feel that if I wanted to look for a campsite to stay or to just see the state park I shouldn't be charge. Good way to lose a paying future customer. Thanks for such a beautiful state park and allowing us to enjoy it.
Joe LaFond
Really nice park. Beautiful views. Only issues we had were to be expected I suppose...the dogs that wouldn't stop barking... no dogs allowed posted on the sign.🤷♂️
Other than that, it could use a bathroom. Be ready to utilize a stall with a hole in the ground. Kind of gross, so be prepared. We. Encountered a lot of pollen in the water, but at least it wasn't in the air. It was a beautiful day in the Moosehead region as always. Just wanted to give you the heads up on the bathroom and dog situation. Me personally, I'd allow dogs. Have a fun visit!
Karen Bardsley
Clean, well spaced camping sites, bathroom facilities close to every site, friendly staff. Overall great time and we’ll be returning
Stacie Price
Started going here when I was a child with my dad. We had a nice campsite rite on the water. Sites are spaced out pretty good so you have some privacy. Clean wash facilities and you can buy wood from the check in desk if you need it. Can't wait to bring my little boy here.
Shaughnessey McArthur
An amazing well-maintained State Park. Clean bathrooms, spacious campsites, playground, boat launches, docks, and sandy beach. Great spot to unplug and explore the Maine wilderness
Christie Goulet
This is our favorite camp ground. We will keep going back
Hayan Nayr
Very pretty park. The trail can be a bit confusing, but very nice.
Thomas
Lovely state park on Moose Head Lake.
Only basic amp sites: didn't see any hook-up for water, sewer or electric. Very nice facilities on the lake.
Jimi Surprenant
This place is amazing! Beautiful grounds all around. Got a boat, bring it. The lake has plenty to see. They have a boat landing in the park. But you can also put in a canoe or kayak, just about anywhere.
I ventured all around the campground and all of the sites look great. Some right on the lake, some not, but all have access. Even if you're furthest back from the lake, you're only a short walk from it. Some sites are available by reservation and some are only available by going in and seeing what's available. I feel this keeps things plenty fair. There is no shortage of all of the wonder and beauty of the Great Maine Wilderness. Here you can fall asleep to the inexhaustible sounds of mother nature, the beautifully mournful and haunting calls of the Loons.
In my mornings I enjoyed my coffee next to the lake, being visited by several families of ducks passing by, while enjoying breathtaking colors of pre-dawn and sunrise. At sunset, the deep purples and pinks on the lake can not be match by any great artists.
Do bear in mind this is a Maine State Park. It's not off the grid camping, but is more rustic then the more expensive non-state related campgrounds. If you love camping, not "glamping", in it's true form this is the right spot for you. Every site has a table and fire pit (just the way it should be in my humble opinion). The rest up to you. They do sell ice and firewood here, if needed, plus it is a short drive from Greenville, the biggest town near by, which also does have all of the amenities you'd need if your supplies run low.
If you choose to venture out from the park you can find plenty to do, from sight seeing, hiking, wildlife peeping and more. There is no end to adventure up here and well worth the trip.
Brett Binns
Our second visit. Lots to do in the area from hiking, fishing, boating, he B52 memorial. Hiking in the park is minimal but you can also hike the poorly marked cross-country ski trails. No power at the sites but Peaks-Kenny SP does have power and isn't impossibly far away. We will be back. PS, visit Turning Page Farm Brewery while in the area if you enjoy craft brew and/or goat cheese.
Lisa Webster
A great spot would have liked a lakeside spot but still nice area
jjfranky123
This is one of the best state parks in Maine. The park is clean, family friendly, full of wildlife and so much more. All of the rangers that work there were extremely helpful and the park manager (Mark) was considerate, thoughtful, kind and more. Absolutely a must visit in Maine!
Deb Pat Burk
Had an enjoyable time sightseeing and chatting with other travelers and the locals. Scenery is beautiful here and we suveyed the boat launch and fishing and camping areas. Everything looked beautiful and in order and is a good State Park to camp in.
Mike Stoess
Fantastic state park, great place to spend the night while being somewhat secluded especially compared to most state parks. And the showers were 13/10 incredible.
Dan Boynton
A very nice family friendly park.
Humble Pie
Our small family of 4, including my 2 year old boy, our dog and my wife and I stayed for 5 nights on 4th of July week. It was our 1st time staying at Lily Bay SP. We stayed in our 20ft camper and although there was not rv hookups we did not care. The campsite areas are split into 2 areas not near each other. Both have boat launch facilities near and both have campsights on the water for either rvs or tents, super nice. Shower facilities were a short drive, private and clean. Campsites were large and surprizingly pretty private. Not all of the sites were on the water but all very close. We had to switch camps a few times because we booked last minute. Definately 2 different atmospheres depending where you stayed. I only say that due to the other campers, not the park itself. 10pm is quiet time and there was a family laughing enjoying their fire, not being overly loud, not drunk and disorderly, no generator or anything, just casually laughing and chatting. But it was the night of july 4th, about 10:10pm and everyone was just getting back to camp after seeing fireworks in town and..... Anyway, 1 camp a guy screams," its quiet time and past 10pm!!!!!" Very rudely and alot louder than the family he was yelling at. We know how sound travels in the woods at night, anyway... My impression is quiet time doesnt mean become a mute and dont move in fear of a noise coming from your site. Reguardless every camp within earshot immediately stopped what they were doing, lights soon went off & you could only hear crickets and a possible pin drop after this guy who was wound soooo tight expressed himself. But as I mentioned, it wasnt the park to blame.
Reguardless, we enjoyed our stay at Rowel circle best. We did not have a waterfront site but we stayed at site #6. It was private, large, level and next to the bathroom. People were nice and waved, said hi and the park staff was amazing. Our site was kinda at a high point so it seemed we had a nice breeze which was key due to the heat and humidity the week that we went. Chipmunks and squirells in camp, racoons raided our dogfood as well, lol, and we heard loons our whole time at camp. We did not mind hopping in the truck to go to the showers or the beach. Boatlaunch was seriously right around the corner and I took the family and we caught fish right from the docks. There were deer walking all over the park and it was cool. They had no fear. The beach was awesome, water was refreshing and not too cold. The beach is rocky so water shoes are a great idea. The beach area has a great playground which my son loved, also picnic tables scattered around, even deer wandered through this area as well. Views were amazing and the breeze on these hot and humid days coming off the lake was much appreciated. Ice and wood can be bought at the park entrance as well. Another plus is the town of Greenville is only 8-9 miles away for resupply, shopping or any other needs. Gas was actually cheaper than where i currently live which was a bonus as things tend to cost more away from civilization. Although, gas is cheaper, food is not at the grocery store, not too much but just making note. Great breakfast place called Auntie M's as well I suggest those in the area check out. But make note its cash only. Food was fast, good and not overpriced.
We also took a day trip to Baxter SP to catch some views of Katahdin. It was a couple hours each way but worth the trip. We took the golden road and a suv or truck is suggested as the roads are gravel logging roads.
Anyways, did we enjoy our stay? Absolutely
Would we come back? Absolutely
Was staff friendly and helpfull? Absolutely
Were campsites spacious and private? Absolutely
Location of park? Perfect
Fishing? Perfect
Kid friendly? Absolutely
Moose? Not this time
Deer? Everywhere
Suggestions? Bring water shoes, food and do not forget bug spray. Also leave your intolerances at home, go, relax, unwind, smile and enjoy what God gave us at Lily Bay SP.
Zachary Knights
Fantastic campground! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The campsite was very large had everything nearby. And the area was beautiful and had so much to do. Couldn't have been happier! We will be back.

Campsite we stayed at had a beautiful view of the lake and we had some ducks and loons come very close to our site. It rained most of the weekend, but that's all part of the experience!
Jean Mooers
Quiet and sites not on top of another. My favorite campground
K F
Beautiful place to camp or just spend the day!😊 …
Jeremy I Hills
Just north of Greenville on beautiful Moosehead lake, this park has multiple boat launch areas, a beach, playground, and numerous camping sites as well. Enjoy fishing, boating, and hiking as well as lounging on the beach. Take in the sights or maybe visit the B-52 Crash site on Elephant Mountain just up the road from the park. Friendly staff and shower rooms available for those who may not want to rough it to the extreme! Lily Bay State Park is a wonderful place to visit for the day or camp for a week or more! Personally, I can't get enough of Maine's unique and beautiful state parks! Come on out and enjoy Mother Earth!
Heather Mina

Says the outhouses are sanitized twice daily, but there was excrement on the toilet seat all four days I was there. Hard to beat the view, though!
Kern Hesseltine
