Reviews of Eugene T. Mahoney State Park
Bridget Afandi
Park is fantastic. So many fun activities for the whole family! Even though this is a year round state park and Campground, some of the activities are halted after Labor Day. Lucky for us we didn't come for the kid's stuff, we came to unwind and enjoy the beautiful weather and outdoor activities. If you are wanting lots of activities for the family, I'd make sure to check out their online schedule of events.
Grounds are easily walkable, I'd say some of the areas have gotten overgrown with weeds and such, but that's probably because its the end of fall and they're waiting for the rest to go dormant, to come in and do a final landscaping for the season.
Beautiful trails and views. We're camping and absolutely appreciate the wide open spaces between campers/RVs where you can spread out and have some breathing room..
Bathrooms are for the most part clean. However the showers in the bathhouse at the Little Creek Campground needs some serious attention. That's the only disappointment thus far. We're planning to stay 14 days in total and we have moved campsites when we found another one that suited us better.
We would definitely stay longer if allowed.

What a fun place to visit. There is so much to do that I am sure to miss some of it. Highlights; Pool Aquatic Center, multiple playgrounds, horse back riding, Zip linking and Ropes Course, a look out tower near river and we found a couple trails to walk as well. The park cost to get in and most of the activities cost. But I felt that it was reasonable. The water park is by far a favorite for my family. We did not stay in the park but we did spend a full day at Mahoney State Park. Be sure to follow the directions and post your park vehicle permit where you are told to.

The best place to go camping, hiking and spending time with family and friends. To get some fresh air amd there are lots of thins to do. We had limited time with our stay but planning on going back there next year. Just FYI, I heard you have to book ahead of time. The Boyscout of America Jubilee 2022 was a success and very fun event and they picked the right venue! Mahoney State Park. Had a great time here!
Ray Cudaback
This is a very unique event and totally blew my expectations away. The time and skill to make these displays is unmatched, at least in this area. Great night out for the family, a group of friends, or in our case, a team outing. 100% recommend this to all!
Craig Thome
Huge State Park with several campgrounds and lots of different activities.
Check out the views from the top of the observation tower.
The ropes course was very well done and lots of fun.
The equestrian trail rides sell out so recommend signing up right when the visitor center opens.
Right off the highway so noticeable traffic noise sitting around the campfire at night.
Kaye McNulty
Delicious steak dinner at the park lodge with view of deer in the meadow and platt river in the background. Then a climb up the observation tower for a beautiful sunset view over the Platte River. Such a great a way to end the day!
Love staying at this state park!
Lyndsey Johnson
The ape adventure was really fun! It was a great exprience! The zip lines were sweet! .. I wish they would of been longer, but they were still fun! I thought it was a bit pricey though.
Garnet Spoonhour
Absolutely beautiful. We went on a spur of the moment trip and was well worth it. Weather was just warm enough to enjoy being outside and being out of season still,it wasn't very crowded.
Robyn Dibbern
The new Crete Carrier Riverview Lodge was an amazing wedding venue. Staff was very helpful, views were great, plenty of room for our ceremony and reception. Trolley rides were a fun addition to the day.
Zach Langner
I've been living in Omaha for over a decade but never made it down to Mahoney until recently. There is so much to do! We went up the observation tower for the great view, played a round of disc golf among the scenic landscape, and wrapped up the day with some mini golf! This was just the tip of the iceberg of things we could have done.
Definitely going to come back the next time I have another itch to get out into a bit of nature.
Tricky D
This is a great park. We love the horseback riding, the paddle boats, melodramas and of course, the wave pool. There are great cabins for families and groups of all sizes - fully furnished with actual kitchens and bathrooms, TV and AC. Mahoney is a family favorite that we return to year after year. Make sure you plan ahead!! They are usually booked up at least 6 to 8 months in advance!
Tralyce Fischer
We've stayed in an RV on several occasions here and have enjoyed our stay very much each time. Photos were taken in August of 2022.
Logan Finn
Beautiful park I have never been able to get to and had an event for Nebraska spina bifida
Could you more for people who are disabled
The area and the sky is so beautiful there

The park offers lots of activities for the whole family, from miniature golf to trail rides, swimming, a theater, an activity center with a rock wall, paddle boating, the list goes on. There is accommodations that range from primitive camping to modern hotel service in the lodge. When my children, ages 10 and 12 said "When we come back next year" I knew our vacation was successful, much of that success because of the variety of activities at the park and the proximity to both Lincoln and Omaha, which offers many other attractions.
Ron Souliere
Great campground, only a few spots open. Staff very aggressive about having you leave on time. We had someone not move their vehicle promptly at 2, was 2:15, called me on the phone and had a ranger talk to us, as we were loading the vehicle to move it, they were nice and polite about it, but still.. Was there for sledding, adequate. They reportedly have snow generators and I saw a snow grooming machine parked. Safety fences were down in places. One or two hard structures past the fence not shielded with straw bales as on run obstacles were. But at least they had a hill with packed snow, a rarity this winter in nebraska. And skating, nice rink setup in the open air Pavillion. Only RV spots available and only 10 open in the campground even though maybe another 15 sites unused (but not rentable) in this camping loop (little creek) so ended up with 5 sites due to 2 tent limit. We were charged extra for higher capacity electric sites. We are a scout troop, didn't use electricity at all. Frequently have this problem of only RV sites available with state parks near omaha. Around Lincoln or west of Lincoln, seems like they have more available tent only sites which are usually much larger. Little Creek campsites we were in were hilly. Really only one or two places on each site that were somewhat flat on the ground. RV slabs were flat. But due to being slightly below grade, were ice or water covered, not a great place for a tent. Toilets were locked, we are used to pit toilets at most state parks. In our camping loop they had 3 portapotties that were absolutely clean or possibly recently serviced.

Lots of activities for kids and adults in all seasons plus we had a great stay in 1 of their cabins
Laura Wehde
Fun cabins, wildlife. Horse riding, ice skating, lots of other activities. Stayed at Prairie Wolf cabins. Comfortably slept 6 people and was a perfect spot for a Friendsgiving.

This was our least favorite place we’ve probably ever camped but it did have a few things we enjoyed. For starters, you can hear interstate traffic which is a huge turnoff. The campsites are on top of each other it seemed like, and a dog was barking for half the day a few sites over. The bathrooms were still closed for winter even though we’ve been in spring since the 20th of March which meant we had to go to the main buildings to use the facilities. The Marina was open on Easter which allowed us to rent peddle boats, that was our favorite part. It was $10 for 30 minutes. We got a bag of fish food for $1 and we were impressed that the baggie was full, worth it as we fed the Canadian Geese with it as well. The kid that was working in the Marina was not polite or welcoming as we felt he should have been. He acted as if he was annoyed to be there and we were an inconvenience to him. That was our biggest turn off on the place. The kid that gave us our life jackets and helped us on and off the boat outside was very nice though. In conclusion this is a place we are likely not to return for a stay.

Beautiful place. Breathing views and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Disappointed the restaurant wasn’t open and the rooms were pretty dusty.
Lacey Peters
Mahoney state park is amazing to visit all seasons of the year. In the winter we frequently visit the activity center where you can ice skate, sled (they have an artificial snow machine), play on the giant indoor playground/jungle gym, or climb the indoor rock wall. A Nebraska state park pass is needed to enter the park, but day passes are always available. Sledding is included in the park pass, but the skate rentals, indoor playground and rock wall are an additional fee. They do have sleds available to rent also.
In the warmer months you can go to the water park, driving range, putt putt golf, ropes adventure course, plus Manny other outdoor activities.
John Reynolds
I liked this place, a state park with a bunch of activities for the kids. For what it is, it’s great. We had the kids there for half the day, sledding, ice skating, rock climbing and an indoor playground that’s huge.
I think next time we go we will pack a lunch, for food it’s all quick serve not too many healthy choices, but I didn’t expect it.
Worth the price for sure.
Michelle Griffin
Visited the Jack O'latern World a d was fun for all! I would recommend.
Kelly M
Great RV camping & a ton of nice trails to walk & bike, paddleboats, fishing, pony rides & horseback riding, water park, volleyball, driving range, mini golf, frisbee golf all at a free or very affordable price. Go Ape zip lining also located on the property and the wild life safari park is just down the road.
Glenn Schlottman
The campers are friendly and there is lots to do - well under normal circumstances. Not all the sites are designed equally but in general they are nice. There is shade, tables, and fire pits. It is primarily used by RV campers. And that makes sense in the summer with the heat and humidity. We have young kids and the playgrounds and pool would make this a great place.
Jennifer “Jenny” Finn Sutton
We went for the job fair, but also had family time. We hiked up the tower, then went to the park. After that we hit the Kiewit center to see what other buildings had going on. We ended up picnicking in the car and then going to the indoor park. It was priced great and had lots to do.
Jessica Seldon
Clean and very peaceful. we took my niece RV and we spent 2 nights. it was amazing experience. we did pedal boating and it was fun. bathroom is very clean. I was surprised. they do really clean the park.
Janet Kragen
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The beds in the lodge were super soft and rocked like hammocks. The pillows, on the other hand, were brick-hard. The sheets was rough. In all, very much camp quality.
The views off the back deck were great. For a place that prides itself on its views, though, the windows and screens were filthy.
There were lots of activities. However, we didn't end up going to the pool:
1. It costs $10 per person.
2. There was a line clear around the block on the weekend.
3. The pool, along with a bunch of other things, went on limited schedule on Monday, August 12.
We were surprised to find no food service at the lodge after brunch on Sunday. We were more surprised that there hadn't been a sign anywhere letting us know about that early closure.
Important note--read all the fine print and make sure you remember all the details from the confirmation you get by email (a year before the trip). And/or see if you can find all those important details about schedules and costs on the website.

Really liked staying here. Lots of activities to do. As it was summer time, didn’t get to do ice skating. Hope to get there at winter time for this. This is the biggest trail for hiking in a small area I guess. This hiking experience was really adventurous. So many different kinds of noises I heard. I think animals variety would definitely be huge in this jungle area. Although we really tried to see something wild to come out but didn’t. Finally it was becoming too dense with trees and trail was vanishing so I stopped to hike and came back.
View from the observatory tower was really good. Washroom was clean. Parking was sufficient. Information desk was helpful and staffs were welcoming. They had a nice cozy area for sitting.
Ron Roen
Great! Horses are wonderful to visit. I am confident that the older white horse that is limping will be doing well soon. Thanks to the superlative stable staff!
Chanchal
Loved it! This park has many things to do like hiking, biking, swimming, camping, fishing, kayaking, picnicking, bird watching. They have LJ Family Conservatory, Butterfly Garden, Horses, Kids Area, Slides, Go App Tree Activities, Lakes, Deck, Boardwalks, Mini Golf etc. We dint book any cabin but it seems will be an amazing experience there, locations of cabins are amid of forest.Observation Tower but it is under maintenance so they have closed it.

Spent Labor Day weekend here on our third camping trip at Mahoney this year.
We rode bikes on the trails from campsite to marina to the lodge and on to one of several playgrounds. Another day we spent hours at the water park riding slides, flipping off diving boards, and moving to the motion of the ocean in the wave pool. We made friends with camping neighbors. We went on nature walks with teddy bears. The kids biked around the campsite with not a care in the world. We had ice cream at the Marina.
Mahoney never disappoints. Staff is helpful and generally cheery. Bathrooms and showers were always clean. And the number of activities leaves little to be desired.
Nick Sevening
Kids loved fishing and hiking through the trees.
Brittany Hampton
So many activities to do. Great walking trails. Plenty to do with little kids. We have a blast every time we visit :)
adam hoing
This is the best campground in Nebraska, hands down! Every stay has been incredible!
We have 3 children and after 7 days the kids were never bored! There is so much to do for kids! The Water park is very well managed and clean. The visitor center and DNR staff are helpful and informative. The equestrian staff was excellent! The fishing spots are stocked and clean! They do a great job at this State Park!
We stay here every year for a week and always enjoy it. We hand pick a couple camping spots that have a lot of room for the kids to run and there are several to choose from! Most of the campsites are electric hookup only but the water fill and dump stations are easily accessible.
If I had to pick on one thing it wouldn't even be related to the campground but occasional speedy drivers through the camp ground. There are kids everywhere and to speed through the campground is begging for an emergency.
If you stay, have a blast ( it's easy to do at Mahoney State Park) and drive slow!
Choco Teioh
Even though it was modern camping it was one of the best 5 days I've camped for a while. Some amenities include: frisbee golf, long concrete walking trails as well as dirt trails, lookout tower, paddle boats, ceramic painting, playgrounds, etc. The bathrooms were clean and modernized with free showers. We stayed for 5 days Saturday thru Wednesday and after Sunday afternoon we were the only tent campers around which gave us a lot more freedom and space. Mahoney is also a great place to fly kites (which we did as well near the big park) since it's basically open plains. I will always return here for fun and safety for the whole family and it's good practice for backwoods camping.
Bonnie Watt
Lovely park, but I wish there was a option to pay for just a short visit, rather than the $8 they want from out of state cars.
My dogs and I just wanted a quick break on our long journey east along I-80, so I didn’t want to pay the day rate for less than an hour and I didn’t... which stressed me out during our short visit for fear of getting a ticket or worse towed.... but it didn’t seem like they had many employees to enforce the rules.
Besides the overpriced entry fee for a short walk, if you went for the day or even a couple hours it would be well worth it. Beautiful and picturesque.
Jamie Flanagan
Went for a Omaha Realtors event! Our 7 year old had the best time! We will be back! Great spot with great views in Ashland! Mini golf, activity center and beautiful scenery!
beth jacobs
What a beautiful park! We had a relaxing time in the Lodge and exploring the park.
Luba S
Great park between Omaha and Lincoln, near the SAC museum. There are hiking trails, cabins, a hotel, swimming pool, horseback riding, rock climbing, green house, zip lines.
Julie Gentry
Very large, beautiful state park! So many things to do here! Was a bit muddy during our stay due to recent rains and lots of shade trees.
Pascal Coutant
Beautiful State Park with lost of excellent amenities. Beautiful view on the Platte river and surroundings from the observation tower. Highly recommended for a short stop or a longer one if you are driving by...
Heather Hascall
We always love coming here. This occassion we visited the marina area for peddle boating and feeding thebfish and ducks. They have cool sparkly peddle boats. Fun and inexpensive.
Debby Davis
Went to the Jack o lantern world tonight in Mahoney State park!
It was incredible!
Brittany Heybrock
As a first timer, I was pretty amazed at the number of activities they have in their little loop! Even a movie theater for rainy/super hot days!
The reason we were there was for Go Ape! The treetop adventure course! That was totally rad!
I will say tho, the campgrounds are pretty heavily packed together and they are mostly geared toward the CAMPER camper, and less for the tent camper. We got lucky with a spot that had a lot of space near the forest, but found it was the lowest part of the campground and got flooded the whole weekend since it rained.
Shirietha Patterson
The family and I truly enjoyed ourselves. It was a beautiful day for an employee appreciation day. The putt putt golf was the best. The pattern boat area needs some upkeep, but looking at booking a weekend soon.
Richard “Dick” Kreikemeier
Somethings are a little pricey but the staff and others are very nice. Great environment, beautiful scenery, and plenty to do
Faith Fowler
I took my son and nephew to the park for the Astrological Club of Omaha's FREE night. I have never seen such big telescopes. The boys were able to see other galaxies. They loved it. I might add that they are 15 and 16. We also enjoyed a picnic on the lawn behind the golf shack while watching them set up.
Talan Yarger
Great place to take the family. So many things to do. Best water park in eastern Nebraska, hiking & biking, horseback rides, zip lines & some great fishing ponds etc... Cabins get rented out quickly so book months in advance
Sushanta Halder
Beautiful place for picnic and hangouts in the fall season. There is a small park for children to play. There is a tower from where you can see the landscape of river Mississippi.
Overall it's a wonderful place.
sue yates
I love the log cabin that we stayed in it was absolutely beautiful. Went there for a wedding but plan to go back next year for more activities that they offer. We plan on coming back next year with family and friends.
Amber Dawn
The kids had a blast at the activity center @ Mahoney for a birthday party. They were constantly entertained by the Rockwall and play set. Prices were fair!
Emily McQueen
For our 8 and 12 year olds, our favorite activities are rock climbing, sledding, and the playground in the winter. The water park, pond, and mini golf in the summer. Everything is pretty wheelchair accessible.
Greg S
It's one of the biggest state parks in the area. They have lots to do and lots to see at this park everything from biking to hiking trails horseback riding and they have a zip line now we also have paddle boats and a observation tower that you can climb up. There's also a large lap Lodge that has a restaurant in it. You can also rent cabins for camping and many other very cool things this is a well-maintained park. please smash the thumbs-up button if you found my review to be useful. And if you liked my photos, click the thumbs up on those as well.
Mitch Harris
We had rented a cabin there for a wedding 2 night minimum it was a nice little cabin great for 4 adults beds were nothing to write home about but it was nice and cool when we got there, the staff at the front counter were very nice and it was easy to navigate a little pricey on the cabins but these days what isn’t…I however can not say the same about the restaurant you can read that review also the food was just ok….
Pokemon Cave
Great place to stay they give you live deer in your cabin to pet! Lodge had great amenities! We had lots of fun sledding off the Water tower kids loved it thank you ET MAHONEY!!!!
April Tucker
We love our Mahoney days!! There is SO much to do. 💛hiking 💛horseback riding 💛ice skating 💛paddle boating 💛the tower 💛the water park!! The activity center is awesome for birthday parties and the new GoApe center looks fun. Great camping, newer cabins. What a fun day with the family! …
Abby J
Came here for a wedding. Left booking a cabin! It was amazing. I never knew it was this great! Swimming pool, playground, a lake with paddle boats, an array of cabinets to accommodate everyone's size and style, shelters for birthdays, wedding areas, a lodge with a bar and hotel like rooms, and so much more. It's definitely worth the $6 to go for a day.
Vicki McIntyre
Wow!!! The lodge here is beautiful; the area filled w/animal life & plenty of nature!!! Everyone who worked there was super nice, helpful & just so courteous!!! Loved it!!!
Chessly Lynn Loper
Very serene! Great family outing! Loved the lodge and horse back riding. It was over cast so we missed the water park. Great place for all ages! :)
Susan Smith
Absolutely beautiful park. We camped there in mid October. Very easy access from I 80. Many things were closed Hope we can come back, stay longer and enjoy all this lovely spot has to offer.
Luna Buna
my daughter and I come here every year - we go horse back riding, play in the inside gym area, go on the paddle boats, arts and crafts, go swimming. There is SO much stuff to do. Mahoney has become a staple in our summer break!
Maegan Hefner
Great place to visit. Lakes, swimming, cabins, playground, observation tower, prehistoric burial site..cool!
Randy S
Second time staying at a cabin. I would recommend it just to get out into nature if you dwell in the city.
Lucie Lautenschlager
Was a great place to camp and have fun with children. Has cabins and rooms to rent or sleep in a camper or tent. That place was great and has a great view and trails too. Can't wait to visit their again someday. What a view from the watch tower.
N K
We've been going to Mahoney State Park for years. It started when my parents took us when we were kids for a weekend in Spring and has continued with the new generation. So much has been updated and kept in great condition throughout these years. We enjoyed the tower, the rock climbing area, the playgrounds and the hiking trails. We were also there for 2022's wine and sip event. That was a lot of fun. I highly recommend going if you're there that weekend. Lots to do and lots to see!
Fawn Horner
Lots of places to explore in this State Park. There are activities for all ages including horseback riding, swimming, camping, and hiking. My son and I also attended a free bow fishing instructions class. It was a lot of fun. The pool is spacious with 2 waterslides. There is also a separate wave pool and a smaller kids area with sprays and smaller water slides. Reasonable rates although you do have to have a state park permit to enter and then pay the pool fee as a separate charge.
Amy Litwiler
This is a fantastic park with so many things to do. Nice trails. Two reasons not 5 stars. Camping is hard with major road noise from I 80. For the price, the shower houses were a little rough, but as clean as they could be given age and state of repair.
Jaime Allmeroth
Our power box was out on our site. Called the office around 5pm, they had maintenance out within the hour and fixed by about 7pm!
Tommy Gokes
Beautiful scenery and great attractions. Just watch out for poison ivy!!
A Crowd of One
We stayed at a cabin for a few days to relax a bit. Very quiet. Played mini golf; climbed the observation tower.
Ann Williams
Experienced the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure. Had a blast! If you are planning a trip here, there are great camp sites and cabins. There is even a lodge to stay at. I would check with the park though on what activities are available before you book a stay. For summer stays, book before April of the year you plan to travel.
Joel Penhallegon
Hundreds of acres to go hiking in. Take water 💧 with, you will get thirsty. …
Shirley Le
I took my daughter to Mahoney to go horse back riding. It was her 18th birthday. We had a great time! The lady’s there went over the safety rules and made us feel very comfortable. The lady’s were very nice directing us on the trail and having conversations with us. Keep up the great work we will definitely be back to visit you and the horses!
Jonathan Hart
It is a great place to go for camping whether it be tent or cabin or RV they have very nice layout for campgrounds and when there's not a pandemic they have a lot of fun activities for kids and adults
Kevin Keith
Nice zipline go app and cabins to stay in camp grounds sac museum is next door and plate river is close whitail dear running around very very nice check it out
Kevin Garcia-Alvarado
There's a lot to do here now vs when I use to come here a lot as a kid. My favorite thing here has to be the indoor playground, ice skating rink in the winter season and sledding with snow being made by machines.
1 Hot_Potato
Experienced the zip line today! Super fun! Adrenaline rush! Feeling scared out of my mind! Exhilarating experience! I can't do this!! Physically drained! Burst of energy! Never again! I will finish this!! These....are literally some feelings that came over me lol. Seriously tho....it was AWESOME! There are 5 courses and honestly, after the first...it gets easier. I believe they said the highest was around 50 ft high but it felt way higher than that 😌. It took us about a hour and a half to finish the course. There are 5 actual zip lines and about 2-3 platforms u have to go through before u zip line down. There's water before each course..THANK GOODNESS!!! Definitely need gloves cause ur hands will have blisters if u don't. If you drop something below surrounded by plants, be careful of nettles when u go to retrieve it 😣. $103 for my other half and I. Awesome instructors!! Great people out there! Would definitely go again (when it's NOT 100 degrees out lol)
J.L. Schmidt
A veritable Oasis between Lincoln and Omaha, the place is still as popular as when they built it. THE place to go for family picnics and a variety of outdoor activities.
The Melodrama is as good as ever. The buffet at the Lodge was just OK. Decent food, just nothing special and certainly not a destination.
Christina Strong
So far, so beautiful. Haven't been camping in almost ten years. Very happy with our camp spot. Clean bathrooms, clean grounds, BBQ fire pits, and electrical too! Book your spot and enjoy some nature!
John Hunsberger
Not far from Omaha with lots to do! Friendly staff were great with giving direction and even flexible with changing accommodations (we needed a flat area for our tents). Clean bathrooms and well maintained grounds.
Teegin Brooks
Great experience got to count every tree on the property! Yes every single one don't believe me there's a total of 765
Louie Cavalieri
I always love going to Mahoney State Park. The only downside is the lack of ventilation in the restrooms/showers. It's muggier/hotter inside those restrooms than it is outside on the hottest days in Nebraska.
Chimene Longwater
We are tent camping. If sleeping in the median of I80 is your idea of a back to nature experience then my all means come on in. If it weren’t for Jiminy Cricket chirping at my tent door I would think I was at a truckers rest stop. If you do the camper thing then you are golden. We arrived late in the evening. The park staff are very helpful. The park looks huge and full of fun activities for families. It appears we’ll maintained but the bathrooms in the camp sites need to be burned to the ground. Otherwise seems to be well loved by the locals.
alexralston22
Good family fun with lots of popcorn throwing. Not sure why a bottle of water is as much as a beer but good times none the less
Kristy Palmer
One of the best state parks I have been to with kids and I have traveled all over the US. My grandsons loved it so much they want to go back again next year! They really enjoyed GoApe!, mini golf and the aquatic park. The climbing wall was closed due to Covid. We also visited the Aeronautical and Space Museum and Wildlife Safari park located right outside of the park. We will positively be visiting again!
Blake Humphrey
Wonderful selection of views, trails, amenities and activities. A driving range for golfers, pony and horse rides, a huge pool, an indoor playground, climbing wall and more. Oh yeah, you can camp with electrical hookups too. We stayed in the lake ground campground and had a great view with neighbors who were very respectful. If you're looking for fun while camping, and you're on the eastern side of the state, this is a must visit.
Queen Nee
Family fun time, you can grill and bring in coolers. Amazing place very clean too!
Pariss Bethune
Cabins and grounds are very well kept. Park is kid-friendly, and there is so much to do! The tower look out is worth a visit, then make sure to walk through some of the little trails through the trees. It really is a beautiful park!
Steve Metscaviz
In season, fully staffed, this state park has a lot to offer. Hiking, biking, water park, zip lining, horseback riding, paddle boats, theater, volleyball, numerous playgrounds etc. SAC museum next door. Six miles from the outlet mall. Campground is older with tight turns, hilly dirt patios, some sites need significant leveling ,electric only (most). You cannot escape I-80 traffic noise.
Ben Chambers
This place is always great. Some great easy hikes. The activity center is the best bang for your buck
Jere Smith
We had a great time at one of the cabins, very quiet, saw lots of deer, the Internet was a little slow, but lucky to have WiFi at all i suppose. Lots of things to do in the park itself.
Jason Eaton-Lynch
This is a great park with lots to do. Pools, trails play grounds and much more.
Jacob
Definitely a lot to do here. We did horseback riding, the rope courses, and playground. Their is even more to explore that we didn’t get enough time to go through it all. But everything is well maintained and put together. I am just visiting the area, but if I lived around here, I could see this being a great place to hang out with family. One thing to note, is to buy some gloves with grip if you are doing the ropes course. They sell them for about nine dollar’s, but you could get them from dollar store or somewhere cheaper.
Dusty Rieck
The rock climbing wall and sledding hill will tucker the kids out
Hunter Harmsen
Awesome state park, So many activities! Including outdoor ice skating, indoor playscape, rock climbing and sledding.
Viper
Great place to go camping. Spent a whole week hehe. Has electric and water hookups and only one bathroom so depending on where you are you can have a decent walk to the restroom. Not too far away from town if you need more supplies. Only real complaint is the active railroad at night can be annoying. However despite that I will be returning for more trips
Mike Longworth
Lots to do at this park! We were here to camp, did some horseback riding, bike riding, hiking, fishing, swimming and need to come back to do some putt putt, zip lining, indoor climbing, paddle boating and probably more...they also have crafts scheduled that we missed out on also.
Mysti Knoell
We loved our stay here!! You have so many things to do that you could spend all week there and never be bored or have to leave the campground. Only caution...watch out for skunks!! We will definitely be back!!
Mary Littiebrant
This is a nice state park. It is likely very busy in the summer. As out of state campers we found it to be expensive to pay for camping $30 plus $12 daily vehicle fee. We camped there in early April and water at the dump was not turned on yet so we could not flush the black tank when we dumped. Water was not turned on yet at the campsites either. There was fresh water available at the dump to fill tank in trailer. Showers were not consistently warm. There is a laundry with 3 washers/ 3 dryers. $1.75 and $1.50 per load. It was a good place to stay for a couple days while visiting Omaha.
Jackie Murray
Went to the melodrama, "A Ghost Of A Chance", at the theater! LOVED IT! The audience gets involved in the play!
Prices reasonable!
Ms E. E.A.
They need to do some maintainance in some areas of the park, but over all it was nice getaway.
Chris Bartlett
Haven't been camping here in a very long time.
The campground is beautiful with lots to do, especially for family camping. The downside is you're camping right next to I-80 & you constantly hear the interstate traffic. Trains go through pretty frequently too so this is NOT a quiet peaceful spot for camping. If you're a sound sleeper you may not be bothered by it.
JOHN Mareda
Very pretty. Although, too hot, humid, and buggy. I think they call that summer in the midwest.
Trey Eason
Great park with tons to do. The only complaint we have is that the bathrooms at the campgrounds are absolutely disgusting. There is black mold all over the shower curtains. For the price you pay to stay and the daily rate to be in the park, you’d think they could afford new curtains or pay someone to clean them well. Honestly, they need to be demolished and rebuilt!
brandie brandenstein
Came here for ice skating and sledding with my brothers and had a great time. It's a beautiful park with great fees and cheap fun. Beautiful sights and lots of fun!
Mohammed Alali
Beautiful state park with many different activities for the whole family.
Kimberely Alonso
So many activities for the whole active family. A great place to take the kids.
Tarah Sapp
My kids loved rock climbing! We also enjoy the pool!
Isaac Long
Nice comfortable atmosphere! We love it! Everyone is so nice at the Lodge.
Ryan Morris
Lots of fun activities for the family. Pool is fun. Great hiking trails. Fire tower is a popular place to get a good view of the river.
Derek Fenster
We needed a relaxing weekend in the middle of the week. Nice quiet cabin with a wood burning fireplace filled the bill. Mahoney has natural beauty of being in the country but close enough to the city if you like those attractions. Nice to have it open even in December.
Marsha Beard
Beautiful place. Massive RV camping sites! A bit of train noise. Some mud...but its rained a lot. People we encountered were very nice and helpful. We look forward to going there again for more than an overnight.
Paul Barber
Great state park wisdom nice seasono additions. Santa Claus was there and was one of the best I've ever seen
Heartland Paranormal
This is an amazing state park here in Nebraska. Very clean and well kept with plenty of activities for everyone. Swimming, boating, fishing and horseback riding to name a few..... Family friendly and perfect for even just a day trip. Not far from Lincoln or Omaha.
Tony Garcia
It's a really nice place, especially for NE parks. Lots of activities for all kinds. Downside is the same downside as all other state parks in NE: each vehicle requires a permit to enter the park. Imagine my surprise when we showed up for a birthday party and they told us to pay at the gate for a day pass. I tried to explain the situation but still paid 20.00 to use the park since we brought 2 cars.
Vikash Kansal
Fun place to enjoy some quality time with family and have activities areas for kids including small water park. Each has little entrance fee.
Edison Tattoo
What a great family thing to do together. The park is amazing and the activities are endless.
John Potter
Wonderful place filled with activities.
Damien M
Climbing wall is so fun! However, I can't say the same for their disc golf course. They've ripped up a bunch of the tee-pads so it was hard to find where to start for hole 1.
Ethan Triplett
If you like outdoor activities then this is a great destination. We biked and fished here and had a great time. Also, a raccoon ate from a bird feeder, it was neat.
Anne Phillips
The park is very pretty and they try to keep it clean. There are some bathrooms that are amazing and fully stocked and others that could use a little help. Staying in the RV for a few nights was an interesting experience, but we would definitely recommend for families. The water park in the state park needed umbrellas and it might just be a little too crowded. But other than that, our time was great!
Robert Branson
Great place to go with plenty to do and some great hiking trails
Tim Wilcox
Had fun swimming but very nice park
Freedom Fighter
Great place, nice people, and beautiful scenery. There is no other campground that has showers all year round and heated. Would recommend trying some winter camping. You avoid all the crowds of people. Only thing is all the stuff usually open are closed. Will be coming back. Good place for all the full time campers. You can only stay 14 days out of 30.
Lauren Williams
Loved it! Beautiful, scenic, lots to do (check the times when things close). It was very peaceful! Can't wait to.go back.
Upper Shelf
This is a great state park. Lots to do, beautiful greenery, lakes, parks, lodge, swimming, ropes course.
Erika G
I love coming here. Rented a cabin and they are awesome. I bought an annual state park pass by I will be coming back again and again
Deedee Pankop
Beautiful park, our site was huge and we were surrounded by lovely oaks.
Zach Cunningham
Great park and an amazing young man named Jared that worked for the park saved me and my family’s day by coming to our rescue and getting us some jumper cables to start our van
Harold D Jenkins
Being fron another state and a traveler, I get to see a few state ran parks. This is one of the best I've come across. Offering several things to do from ripe climb, rock climb, golf (mini, drive range, disc), theater marina, horse trails, e.t.c...
Nate Grey
Absolutely gorgeous. Went out for an employee appreciation day thing and got stung by a bee! 5/7. Would recommend.
Kimberly Wilson
It was a very nice park with a lot of things for the kiddos to do
Derrick Hazlett (Redxjak)
Wonderful place for children! I do think they should close it down for a couple days to do a safety inspection and check some things. Like a cut strap(looks like it was cut with a knife), a padlock on a random net, and the bar exposed in the big ball area. I hope they renovate it someday also!
Sandy E.
Great time and very friendly staff. The kids had so much fun with the many activities to keep them busy. The only downside is that we spent over $200 in one day on the activities. The prices have become extremely high for everything. A second downside is that when we tried to get food at the marina, the shelves were pretty bear and the only thing available was one hot dog and a stale pretzel. The main menu was not obtainable. The lodge Restaurant used to deliver to the campsites and cabins but now is unable, do to low Staffing. Overall it was a very enjoyable trip and seeing the kids so happy, took the sting off of the prices we paid.
Monika Seeba
Cabins had cleaning issues. New construction caused clouds of dirt to blow towards rented cabins. Dump trucks came extremely close to parked customer vehicles.
Cheri D
The cabins are great and clean! But a lot of the activities were closed. I think they are struggling with getting help. The teens they do have working at the marina pretty much stand around no inititive to stock or clean... And the marina was out of everything! So a little disappointed.
Cat Ink Film Co.
A nice state park. The park is kept up nicely, paved roads, nice pads for RVs, with electrical hook-ups and tent camping. Lots to do, withe the paddle boating, pool, hiking, lookout tower and more. Showers look fine, and the bathrooms are clean with just a few things here and there. The interstate can be heard but it is not too extremely loud, easily fixed with earplugs. The park is also nearby to the SAC museum and some other state parks.
Avocado D
We did the mini golf and had a good time, lots of activities to do with reasonable prices.
Trish Fry
Great place to just talk a walk and explore nature. You must have a state park pass to get in.
Sharon Doig
A very beautiful park. Went to brunch for Father's Day. Food was very good, but the staff seemed a little disorganized. The juice was not very cold. But very nice all around.
Justin Burns
Our kids love the Go Ape obstacle course and zipline. It pushes them out of their comfort zone while being completely safe.
Lindsey Shunkwiler
Visited the park on Saturday for my son's 12th Birthday. Each time we come to Mahoney we feel so happy and relaxed after leaving. We spent the day exploring trails, playing at the park and zip lining/tree top hopping at their Go Ape location. The staff is always so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We love coming to the park during all 4 seasons in Nebraska as it gives you such a beautiful view of the changing colors. I am eager to come stay in the cabins and make a weekend of it in the future. Come to Mahoney and see all of the beautiful sights Nebraska has to offer.
Chelsea
We had a lot of fun painting ceramics that we purchased at the art center. The playground was very well kept and toddler friendly.
Andy Metsker
First time visiting the park. Took the grandkids to the pool. Lots of different things to do there. Concession stand had a nice variety of options.
George Seth
Great park, with helpful, friendly staff members. Lots of activities for kids.
Jared Anderson
We love this place. For the price of a yearly pass and a few extras, the place is a kid favorite for all 4 of ours. Ice skating, tunnels and rock wall all I'm one spot for stir crazy kids ages 4 to 14 for us and they all enjoy it every time.
mike bourne
We had a family gathering over two days in the lodge at this park. The lodge has great meeting spaces and accomodations. The food was great. The view from the lodge was outstanding.
We did not use the other facilities while were there (not enough time), but did drive through to look at them. Other members of the family did do the nature boardwalk and enjoyed the walk. One family did use the RV facilities, and were pleased.
Overall, a well developed and maintained park.
Samantha OBrien
Had a great time with family camping. There is a lot to do and you can definitely stay busy your entire trip. The popcorn theater was a blast!
James Gittins
Great time with my family celebrating one of my Grandson's Birthdays!! Everything was clean in the buildings and around the whole park! We love Mahoney State Park
Betty Filbrandt
First time to stay in cabins and was impressed! Good toaster, large coffee maker, kitchen supplies, beautiful view of the river from our cabin. Bummer that it rained as the trails looked great as well as the other things to do like zip line, the tower, etc. But cabin provided lots of room and a place to play cards and chill! Restaurant was very good and new manager and staff very helpful and friendly!! Can't wait to go back!
Michael Adamowicz
Great place to unwind and spend some quiet family time. The pool park is awesome and the cabins are cozy and fun. The only reason I did not give five stars is because the mattresses are so firm they felt like plywood on springs. Otherwise a great place to have so nearby. We will certainly return, but maybe with a mattress pad :)
Matt W.
Nice large cabins available for larger family get togethers. We've rented the two largest so far and enjoyed them both. Family had a fantastic time at the rec area.
Jeff Tate
Mahoney is a great State Park. Easily accessible from the interstate. You'll have to purchase a park pass to enter, but they're reasonably priced. So many activities for solo trips or with friends and family. I would like to see tent camping there at some point.
Daniel Vellinga
Large, beautiful park with lots of very nice cabins, a huge lodge and a fine reastaurant. I hear the cabins sell out every year. There is an entrance fee but it's waived if you're just going to the restaurant
Judy Denton
We went to a wedding & reception at the Crete Carrier Riverview Lodge. Very nice for a wedding held outside. Bride and groom have their own room. Catering has their own area to bring in their food. Awesome addition to Mahoney State Park.
Angie Anderson
Has so many things to do. Fun for all ages horseback riding, swimming, zip lines, ice cream, and more.
Kyle B.
Very nice state park! They have super reasonable indoor climbing and ice skating! The rock wall is pretty cool, they have top rope, lead, and bouldering. They have quite a few auto belays and 42-foot walls! The ice skating rink looked nice, too. I'd love to hike the observation deck there, but it is closed until Fall 2020 for repair they said. Will definitely be going back there!
John Dunn
My wife and I were traveling the country out of Florida for 7 months. Heading west on I-80 my wife called Mahoney park to see about a night layover, they had only 2 nights available so we took it. It was so impressive like Donald Trump owned it, but no it is state owned. We loved every moment there, had supper at the lodge which was great. I would recommend this park to anyone on I-80. If we ever even get close again we'll be there foe sure. Great job of making a wonderful park.
Nate Howland
Mahoney Park has a huge variety of activities! Over the years our family has enjoyed the staying in the cabins, walking the trails, doing the zip line course, playing at the water park, climbing at the climbing wall and going to plays at the playhouse. It's a great destination!
Tyler Tyler
It's a fun park with lots to do for the kids. We stayed in a cabin which was pretty old and dirty. It didn't come equipped with a grill or outdoor seating area. With no grill, we had to cook our meals on the stove with the cheapest/thinnest cookware on Earth that was stocked. We'll come back but next time will be sure to book a nicer cabin. Other cabins in the park looked much nicer than the one we were in. It rained the final night of our stay which knocked out the power as well. So we had no electricity when we checked out.
Douglas Smith
Family reunion of 40 plus daytime visitor's. Great cabins plus a lot of activities for everyone. Highly recommend it. But be sure to reserve early as can. We were able to all be in one loop, cabin area which made it much easier & safer with all of age groups involved.
Jeannie J
This is such a cool place! The wave pool is fantastic. Enough chairs for everyone...so relaxing. We will definitely visit again.
chris beck
Lots to do. If just heading for a day, make sure to plan ahead. We enjoyed a hike, the lookout tower, paddle boats, aquatic center, mini golf and the Melodrama. Jam packed! The entire family had a blast.
Joyce Smith
Fantastic for multi generation family reunion of over 40 people. Ages 2 to 83.
Plus drop in locals. Rented cabins all in one loop. Ave size cabin sleeps 8 but varies. So much to do & see in parks & around the area. Usual car fee to enter.
Cheri Moore
Wonderful, family friendly campground! We had the best weekend there. Water park was so fun--super crowded on a weekend--go on a weekday if you can. The kids loved mini golf and petting the ponies. The aerospace museum nearby was also a huge hit! We can't wait to go back to camp!!
Mike & Violet
The park itself is beautifully maintained. It has wonderful amenities including a lodge/restaurant. The RV sites are nicely terraced and have plenty of mature shade trees. We would give it 5 stars except for one item. If you expect a nice quiet wooded experience you might be disappointed. Night and especially during the day you hear the drone of traffic on I-80. You hear 18 wheelers engine braking and the usual traffic noise being so close to an interstate highway. If this weren't so close to the highway it would be perfect.
Justin Zeisler
We really enjoyed staying at the cabins.
Michelle H
This place is great! Beautiful, pool is awesome (lifeguards are alert 📢 and keep everyone in line), but completely enjoyable! We had lunch at the lodge, which was good with great waitress! There is so much to do as a family within the park! …
Kandi Johnson
Very nice brunch at "The View" Restaurant at the Lodge. Beautiful views. Recommend it for a Sunday drive!
Ann Bockenstedt
Growing up in Omaha, camping at Mahoney State Park was always a family favorite! I would highly recommend it.
We stayed in CABIN 043, Treetop
Loop: Margre's Village Cabin Loop (cabins 42-54). These cabins are very spacious & offer lots of green space outside. Family and pet friendly, which is very important to us.
The cabin had a nice covered porch off the main door with a nice picnic table. There was a spacious cement patio off the covered porch with a charcoal grate grill and space for camping chairs. The kitchen inside was a very nice. It had a full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, stove top & oven. A big oak table and 8 chairs. Dishes, pots and pans, utensils, toaster coffee maker and dish soap were provided.
The bathroom was big with a sink, toilet and shower (no tub). All towels and toilet paper were provided.
2 bedrooms on main level. Bedroom 1 had a queen bed and cutouts for storage. Bedroom 2 had 2 sets of bunk beds & cut outs for extra storage. All sheets, blankets and pillows were provided, however we brought sleeping bags and our own pillows.
Upstairs was very spacious with a couch, loveseat, end tables, Murphy bed and round wood table with 4 chairs. Windows line the whole upstairs, hence why it’s called Treetop. All windows have curtains for privacy. There is a decent size tv with cable, but We opted to bring our Amazon firestick so we could watch Netflix at night when winding down. There is a corner fireplace that can be used October-March.
The state park offers a lot of extra attractions, such as aquatic center, playground, hiking, paddle boats, fishing, pony rides, horseback riding...etc.
Lots of attractions nearby, such as Wild Life Safari Park, Nebraska Crossroads Outlet Mall, and Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum.
Jim Wiehe
Always gorgeous... Well maintained and staffed with understanding, friendly people.
Josh Hull SR
Great state park. Lots of amenities. They are all rather cheap as well.
Ty Poulson
Seemed great. Rained whole time was there so didnt get to really see the whole campground. Remember to read times that most activities are open when schedule your trip
Mitch Merz
This place is awesome! Some friends were staying at a cabin there. The cabin was very nice, multiple bedrooms a full kitchen, full dining room table, a large spacious home. The kids played at the activity center with huge tubes and tunnels for the jungle gym. There is a rock climbing facility and ice skating rink right there. They had a sledding hill out back of the activity center with artificial snow machine. The other play grounds around the park were great as well. Very cool place, take your kids no matter the age they will love it!
Eatta Nachos
Cabins were nice. Pets can come for a small fee. Poor old dog, he's scared of slick floors. There was bicycle rentals. The horse rides book up ahead of time. Plenty to do but plan ahead to make sure you can beat everyone else to the activities and waterpark.
Thomas Kimberling
This is one of the nicest state parks I've been to. If you like glamping this is it. It's very developed, but is done tastefully. Sites are spaced out (get in one of the circle loops for the most space). If you want to rough it, this park is not for you. However, if you are in the area, this park is ten times better than any commercial rv park. If you have kids, this would be a great getaway for them as well.
John Palenchar
Great camping and awesome cabin two sleep in.
Cutshall2
Very cool to walk around and see. Something new each time!
Tim Lavington
Awesome state park! Lots of things to do!
Jennifer Marsh
My husband went on a men's camping trip through our church. They were able to get 3 sites right next to each other. They had reserved 2 sites, but due to the new 2 tent per site rule they needed a 3rd site. There was a lot of room for the kids to run around, learn how to build a sustainable fire, and just to chill. We will be back nest year!
Amanda Brown
So much to do at this park. From pattle boat, hiking, tower over look, to swimming.
Samuel Shryock
We are camping in Little Creek Campground. Near I-80 so you hear highway noise. The pads are level but alot of the sites and campground are heavily sloped. Observation tower was closed for construction. Lots of activities at this park and everything seemed to be in good shape. Like most state parks, most activities are closed except on weekends.
Jerry Lauritsen
My family celebrated Christmas at Mahoney State Park for 3 days. The cabins were very nice and clean. They are being well kept up. We were able to ice skate daily and sledding was available also. We have stayed at Mahoney a few times and will definitely come back. Maybe in the Summer months again.
Lauritsen Family
Rayzzter A.
Came here for my sisters wedding and rented a cabin for the weekend. We all had a great time! Lot of things to do here or just enjoy the beauty and nature.
Del DeLorm
Very nice park with lots to do. We stayed in a 2 bedroom deluxe cabin, which is essentially a house, and were very comfortable, with the exception of the bed, which had an older mattress, and was a bit saggy and thin.
There were plenty of activities both in the park and nearby, so many that we did not nearly get to them all in two days.
The aquatic center was a hit with our three year old, and we enjoyed walking the trails the nature events.
Well worth the money, and a nice escape back to nature.
Alivia Olson
Super cool. Beautiful scenery and good for the whole family. We went this winter, but also beautiful in the spring, summer, and fall. Many things to do. Hiking, ice rink, water park, parks/playgrounds and so much more. Cabins are nice and have fireplaces!! There is a space museum right next to it which is also great for all ages. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to get outside.
Alisa M.
Love the cabins and all the activities they have to do. It's great for family fun. Love that the cabins are pet friendly!
Super fun activities. The only suggestion I have is to clean up the bathrooms around the camping sites.
. They are not that clean and smell horrible. Shower houses could be more clean too.
The price of food is very reasonable if you are at a concession stand. I was shocked how fair pricing was.
John Rodabaugh
Fantastic, well maintained grounds with great fishing and lots of areas to explore. When tent camping the only negative is the proximity to the interstate means some occasional road noise, but nothing too bad as to make sleeping difficult. Overall we were very happy here and will be returning in the future!
Chris Marshall
Campgrounds are really nice, kids loved the pony rides, and the playgrounds were great. Great place for kids and adults alike
Darrell Minzel
Had a great time friendly camper's caught some fish 🐟 great camp spot near the lake , only negative thing was the restaurant went for Sunday Brunch food was cold a lady kept running around poking it checking the temp saying people were complaining but they did nothing about it . The Roast beef actually felt colder to the touch than the plate ....I would have walked out earlier had I know this but I started with a salad and when I returned to the table the bill was already there placed on the table our waiter brought our drinks and we didn't see him again until we had finished , then he came by ask how was everything ? I said cold . He said ,yeah that's pretty much what everyone has been saying 🤔
Robert Glanville
This was one of the best state parks I've ever been to. The cabin we stayed in was clean and comfortable. There are a ton of activities to do on site and close by. The high ropes course is a must and the instructors were helpful with young and older kids
Nicholas Acree
Great state park. Tons of amenities, even during COVID there's plenty to keep kids entertained. Campsite is well organized and clean with electricity in every site, and the showerhouses are a little dated but as nice as I've seen in a campground. Lots of trees and shade throughout. Its about 25 minutes from the Omaha zoo and right off the interstate. Which may be the only negative that its not far from I-80 so the constant drone of semi-truck traffic all night does drown out some of the nature sounds. But its almost like a white noise when you lay down to sleep. Most other people there were in campers and RVs but we tent camped and it didnt bother me or the wife/kids at all. Will definitely be coming back again to enjoy all the activities that weren't open because of COVID!
Ashley Calabretto
Everything was great! Cabin was clean and sanitized, paddle boats were fun, trails were well kept, however, the pool could use some friendlier staff. Also, don't take a cooler of waters and Gatorade. I had to walk the cooler back to the cabin because it had Gatorades in it. But you can bring a bag in without it being checked, which was interesting to me. Overall a fun weekend get away with the family!!
Victoria Sleeman
We did pony rides ($7 per person), pedal boating ($10 per 30 minutes. Up to 5 ppl on one boat) and had food at the grill restaurant. We truly enjoyed everything about the park. Such a great concept and very scenic. My kids are a little young yet to do things on their own but it will be a place we will keep coming back to. Can’t wait to try the pool, trail rides and zip lines. This is a great place to have a family reunion.
Side note, food was excellent BUT terrible service and dirty restroom. There was a Now Hiring sign, however.
Le Roy Rouse
To those who love the idea of "rewind time". This is a thirty year throw back at the camping grounds.
Nina Smith-Nelson
Great inexpensive indoor place for the kids to go and burn energy. Nice big open spaces for parents interact with the kids or to just standing up serve. Ice rink is seasonal, but fun win open. Skate rentals are pretty cheap. Super excited about the upcoming climbing wall. The park as a whole has a lot of activities to do year-round. Definitely worth the membership
Mary Allen
We took the granddaughter to the Melodrama! There are so many fun things to do at Mahoney! Throwing popcorn at the villain was just one of the many options!
Jake
A great park. There are a lot of activities for the whole family including trails and horseback riding.
Elsie Banse
We always enjoy mahoney for the swimming pool. Adults are $10.00 and Kids 3 and up are 8.00 and 2 yrs and younger are free. It's a nice little get away.
They have a kids pool. Wave pool. Leisure pool. 2 bigger slides for the older kiddos and 1 smaller one for the bigger kids. Park entrance fee is 6.00 and cash at the entrance. They do accept card, but in their office building. Most of this info is on their website.
Some ppl bring their portable grills and do cookouts beforehand or after their swim. They do not allow any outside food or drink. They have one line for cash and one line for card. The card line is usually longer. They also have life vests. Floaties for the wave pool are 3.00. If you haven't been there I'd recommend to try it once. They have other things to do there as well. We try to go once a year.
Lauren Cannaday
Loved site 37! Plenty of room to play and not too crowded. The water park was fun for the kids - get there early or on a week day though bc there are limited comfortable places to sit.
Jeff “IrishRedd”
Great as usual. Fish I g at Century Link lake was pretty good.
Lu Young
Stayed for 3 nights in a cabin and it was wonderful. So much to do and very relaxing also. Rented a 3 bedroom cabin and it was amazing.
Sophia Rose
One of our favorite places to visit! We try to come at least once a year. There is SO much to do and everyone in the family can be entertained. Boat rentals on the lake, crafts, rock climbing, a large indoor playground for kids under 12, a water park, a ropes course, horse back riding, an observation tower, + more. Great place for kids.
Scotty McCandless
I brought the family here during Thanksgiving weekend. Most of the park activities were closed because of the season and Covid. However, enough things were available to keep the kids busy. The dogs enjoyed the walks on the trails. I would recommend this place to a friend or family member.
Callie Bloodworth
We arrived on a Monday afternoon with no reservations and were given the last FHU site in the Little Creek campground. It was a beautiful, spacious spot and we loved it! On our next to last night, a VERY large branch from a big tree in our site fell but luckily did not hit us. The next morning the superintendent, Zach, and several other employees came to check it out and deemed it unsafe for us to stay. Zach refunded us two nights and found another spot for us to move to for the last night of our reservation. We are so thankful they had our best interests in mind and wanted to move us to keep us and our rig safe. This is a beautiful state park with lots of walking paths, driving range, putt putt and many other amenities. Great central location to Lincoln and Omaha and the cute little town of Ashland. If we’re ever in this area again, we will definitely stay here!
Frank Kean
Great time skating and rock climbing.
Lisa Hanken
Nice clean campground friendly people full service bathrooms
Jordan Gray
As a park with lots to do it's great problem lies in its proximity to Omaha/Lincoln and how busy it gets.
esi5225
Love this place. Tent camped. Stayed for three days and two nights with three teenagers. Had plenty to do to keep everyone busy. Fishing wasn't very good though. Not much biting. Staff was very nice, professional and helpful. Recommend the paddle boats, pool, hiking trails, lookout tower and even the fishing even though we didn't catch much. Good clean bathroom facilities as well with more being built. Highly recommended.
Debbie MacLeod
Beautiful well maintained park. The restaurant at the lodge has the best wait staff in Omaha. And the food isn't bad. There is way more road noise from the interstate than I expected but nothing ear plugs can't solve. We spent 14 days here and loved it.
Gina Ray
Water park perfect for the little ones and offers all you need for all ages. Kids loved it!
Makaila Reilly
Really nice state park. The mini golf is worth it. It's only $3.50 per a person. The observation tower is something cool to climb to the top of and see a beautiful view of the park and river. Go Ape Ziplining Adventure is lots of fun!
C & T VDH
Wonderful location with lots to do: campgrounds, horseback riding, fishing, skating, and more. Located right next to the historical SAC Museum

We stayed in a cabin for two nights over the winter - nice, cozy, and clean! The cabin was equipped with pretty much everything you need to cook, sleep, and enjoy time with your loved ones. It is a great place to disconnect for a weekend without driving far from the city.
JT Snae
This is a great park. Maybe not for camping or peace and quiet. The sound of the interstate is roaring all through the day and night. Our camps were invaded by skunks. My neighbor chased 2 away and I chased one away. It was literally in our campsite. It didn't want to go. Our neighbor said it had been this way with the roaming skunks for 10 years. It was too noisy for us to stay another night. The park would not refund our 2nd nights stay as we had prepaid. Nice park. Good amenities. Nice for families and kids. You'll need a pair or ear plugs.
Michelle Smith
There's so much to do here. Due to limited time and the off season, we spent some time in the activity center to wear out our kids. Reasonable prices.
Jennifer Sheldon
One of our favorite places to camp!
Karen Weber
First 2 nights were great and then they locked up the restroom and showers for the next 2 for the winter. Wish they had told us that would happen before we paid for 4 days off season rate of $18 per day. Also 8 dollar park fee a day required even if you are just camping. We were only there after 8PM every night visiting older relative in Omaha each day. Beautiful location, but there is some freeway and train noise. Look for our little camper as a photographer took a promotional picture picture for the park of it before we left ;)
Astro Jetson
Great place to go lots to offer your nature fix tree top trails, look out tower ,parks for the kids and great trails to walk on that are not in the trees for those afraid of heights
Phoenix Luna
Very clean and scenic environment. There is plenty of acreage to hike, a nice water park to cool off at, and a plethora of wildlife to observe. This state park is an out door park for the whole family to enjoy any day of the year.
Summer R
We always have fun when we come here. We love to fish we love the openness and the clean bathrooms always clean bathrooms never crowded. We love where the horses are and spend just a few moments saying hello. There's no better place than this. Well maybe heaven but this is as close as we can come. I so thank you very much 4 this beautiful recreational fun
Cassie Stearman
My kids love this park, we spend more time here than at home! The campground's are beautiful and well maintained and the showers are clean! There are fun activities year round, no matter the weather. Alot of people come in rv's and campers but there are great tent camping spots too. This is really a family park. Fun for all ages. We have been coming to this park for6 years (in all seasons) and have never been let down.
Lisa Gruber
I can't wait to go back and do some camping. We were out to explore the park and play at the large playground. Touring around there were so many great camp sites and the option of cabins. The water park looked fun, but it was closed, so will go back to try that out as well.
Craig Misak
Parks good, kids love the playgrounds, trials and mini golf. They need to move to a more traditional form of walk-up space reservation. They make you drive around, find your place and stop by the front to reserve before dropping your trailer which may or may not still be available. Most allow you to drop your camper and than pay. Much easier and less likely to trip over others.

At a recent weekend excursion we had the privilege to stay in one of the cabins that Mahoney State Park offers. The park over all is a nice get away from the city life of Lincoln or Omaha or where ever. It's got a good amount of activities to keep a family occupied. At the moment I'll just focus on what we experienced.
The cabin was a great atmosphere, it was one of those that are tucked away with a nice view of the Platte River and surrounding lowlands. There were great hiking trails near by, and it was very peaceful.
The space was a little tight inside, but manageable. The kitchen was limited, and not stocked, or equipped. I believe the cooking equipment are either the originally supplied pieces or they are just items that people have brought and left behind. They were sufficient to cook what we needed, but I'd recommend bringing your own if you have that capability.
The bathroom, a single for occupancy of 5-6, was on the small side, but the water pressure was good, and we had no plumbing issues. The sink was out separate from the toilet and shower which was convenient given the limited nature of the facility.
The dining area was spacious enough to fit 6 people at the table. The bedrooms were surprisingly quiet at sleep time, we weren't disturbed by other people moving about the cabin. The bunk beds are for the shorter people, perhaps they had children in mind for these. I'm 6'2 and my feet poked out of the end a bit.
The windows on and the roof on the cabin were in a poor state of repair, we did not experience weather during our stay, but I would guess by the recent paint spots in the ceilings that there has been some leakage. I believe both the roof and windows are the originally installed, and show significant wear. Some windows detached upon opening them, so you had to pull the screen off to get it back closed.
We did not have to use the air conditioning but the heating unit kept the cabin comfortable. However it gave an unsettling rumbling and noise under the kitchen when it operated.
Despite the issues present, the camping (glamping) experience was very positive and we had a great time. We brought most of our own food, but did have one meal at the Lodge. I don't have a lot of feed back for the buffet, it was like most buffets, decent but not exceeding expectations.
We had two young children with us so we spent most of our time at the playground, which while probably had pieces not up to current safety standards provided a lot of fun. (Only say it that way because I haven't seen a merry-go-round since I was a kid!)
We were very pleased with our stay.
Anne Kingsley
Brunch Buffet was available from 10-3pm on Sunday. Plenty of seating too. Stopped at the Observation Tower, looks like they added more parking & handicap ♿restroom facilities. Lots of people at the park & the pool.
Dustin J
Always a good time !!! Lots of things to do there is a large swimming complex, hiking trails, activity center, put put golf , horseback riding. The grounds are very well kept lots of camping sites but they can fill up. Good luck getting a cabin you will have to wake up early and know a year ahead of time to get one for a weekend. Come and enjoy all of the amenities they have to offer.
Evelyn Parsons
I was there to go Zipp-lineing It was a lot of fun it was an item on my Bucket list and was very rewarding for me... However I didn't get the full experience of the whole park. It would take more than one day to enjoy everything they have there.
Randy Leber
Cabins are awesome, plenty to do. Paddle boats, horse back ridding, fishing, hiking, tower to climb, tree top experience, swimming, and more.
Patricia MacFarlane
Have been going here since I was at LEAST 3 years old! Every time I go, I fall in love even more with it!! Love the atmosphere, the amenities, and the customer service! The only thing I would complain about is the prices... some of their items at the pool and horseback riding fees are a little off-the-wall, but it is definitely worth it!!!! Love the cabins, the trails, everything is great here! If you have time, make sure to go check out a play or go into the craft cabin and make something! Also stop by for a little round of putt-putt!!! Definitely a great family get away!!
Matt Griffith
Really nice play area for kids with climbing toys and toddler toys as well. Very, very busy so it gets crazy in there.
Joe Mendick
It's pretty hard to write an overall review of this place because they have so much to do. I've stayed in the cabins - they were great. I've gone camping at lakeside campground - happening joint. We held a couples shower here under a gazebo - nice choice. They've got putt putt, a moving rock wall, an aquatic park, and even ice skating during the winter. If you haven't been to Mahoney, do you even Omaha?
Bear Teddy
We enjoyed the park & surroundings. We were happily surprised to find that the restaurant in the lodge had finally found a menu & cook!!! We usually try to go once a year, but have been avoiding it since The Parker's were no longer supplying the food! It had been really bad for a few years. However, we visited for a few days & were very happy with the restaurant. Hopefully they will add some more non- greasy items, but what they did have was very good! Now we're looking forward to returning again.
Joseph Becker
This is a Beautiful Park! My parents took me here as a kid, and now I have a family of my own and this was our first camping trip together and first for our son. Awesome hiking trails, great pool, and awesome indoor activity center.
Tara Sennett
Such a fun place to go in winter! Outstanding views and ideal for sledding. The inside playscape is great for kids of all ages, including adults. There's a really cool, gigantic indoor rock climb, and a beautiful outdoor ice skating rink as well!
Charlie Jarosik
The cabins here are very nice and you can tell they have been remodeled. The air-conditioning works great, and the kitchenette and grill were plenty big for a family of 8. The waterpark with the wave pool, diving board, one small slide, two larger slides, and a larger pool separate from the rest. Plenty of good seating at the water park. There was a watch tower to look at the whole park. We went to the lake to paddle boat which could be rented for $5. There was a flower garden and a butterfly area. There was even horseback riding available. I would recommend this place.
james roberts
One of my favorite 18-hole disc golf courses. The rest of the park will not disappoint either
Stephanie Akpakoun
Nice riverfront trail, great hilly terrain, with bridges and beautiful creeks. The park itself has beautiful cabins and lodge rooms. There are 2 lakes for fishing and paddleboating. There is a swimming complex. There is a concrete walkway that goes through the entire park which is really nice. This is a perfect weekend getaway so close to Omaha. With all the tall trees, you feel like you're farther away from the city and feel engulfed in nature. It's a great park!
Buddy McCoy
Haven't seen everything. But, a great place to go to with kids. The places I went to were the indoor playgrounds, and the swimming pools. Many slides, different ones for all ages, a goofy huge bucket that swings, fills itself with water, and then dumps huge loads onto you. There is also a "wave pool" that goes off for a few minutes every once in awhile that makes you feel like you are in the ocean. Worth the low cost to go in. Food available too.
Victor Brooks
Caught this Bad boy at CenturyLink lake this weekend
Dorothy Halvorsen
We stayed in an older cabin in February. The price was good. Our grandkids loved the place. The little lake was right out our back door. They were able to walk across the ice and feed geese in the mornings. Beds were comfortable, all utensils available in a really clean kitchen, and the TV had HTMI for XBOX. There was plenty to do in the area for a few days. Great place for a family retreat.
A Can
My boyfriend and I went on a Monday and Tuesday. Excursions are good. Trail riding is a must. Restaurant is also great. My advice is to watch the weather channel before going. At least for tent camping that is. I would recommend not going tent camping especially on rainy days. We set up our tent which was $22 for one night. There were a ton of daddy long legs in and outside of our tent. We put the rain cover on our tent and came back from our excusions just to find everything soaked including clothes, blankets, tent ground, air mattress, etc. Plus we could not start a fire due to the ground being wet. We ended up packing our things late at night and staying in the super 8 in Gretna so we could do the water park the next day. That was our experience. Maybe yours will be different. Choose wisely!!!!
K8t Son
Horse back rinding great rv campground and clean dump stations, pool animal friendly
Peggy Askins
We found this park while traveling on I-80 to Omaha. Beautiful area and looks like a great family vacation spot! Pool, zip line, lookout tower hiking trails, cabins, lodge, restaurant. Other places of interest nearby. Open year around!
Ulfat Arabzai
It was a big games and picnic park.
It has different entertainment facilities like sona pool, boat riding, horse riding and many more. To be mentioned it has very faciniting and amazing views from every point of it.
Justine Wicks
Great state park! I love the indoor play place in the winter! The sled hill is also a blast for the kids.
I can’t wait to try out the water park this summer.
Nate Wambaugh
Great place! Very busy during camping season but there is plenty to do for everybody in the family.
Jeffrey DeLoss
I checked out the park for a planned family reunion we would like to have there in 2019. I was surprised how many varied activities there were in the park. The lodge was interesting and authentic looking inside and out. I can't wait to be there with family. Good luck on cabin reservations as they book up a year in advance.
Matthew Gall
Mahoney is a bit overrated. The spots for camping in an RV are smaller than they should be and the ones we had were on such a hill there wasn't really a good spot for a fire pit. The wildlife was cool but the play equipment seemed run down and the mulch areas were overgrown. Would be ok place to camp with just a little bit of work.
With all that being said the water park was a great time. Several good slides and the wave pool had one cycle every 30 minutes that is pretty intense. That place would get a 5 star.
Tom Eakin
We were looking for a place for a weekend getaway when we heard about Mahoney State Park from some friends who had recently stayed at the lodge. We made reservations online for a cabin (taking advantage of off-season rates) without really knowing what we were getting into. Just arrived and we are so impressed with the Lodge, the park itself, and our cabin!!! It's going to be a great weekend!
Jordan Lukow
I'd always gone to Platte River State Park as a kid growing up, but this was our first chance to go to Mahoney. I was quite pleased with the entire park. The grounds were maintained very well and the cabin we stayed in was in good condition with all amenities matching the description on their website. My favorite thing about the park though? THE HUGE AMERICAN FLAG. So iconic.
Denise Wenke
Camping season is definitely winding down. Very pleasant to get away for the weekend, but if you are looking for activities, October is not the time.
The roads and pads in the campgrounds at Mahoney favor shorter rigs. Nebraska Game and Parks includes details of each campsite on tbe web, so you can have some idea what to expect.
Patrick Macha
This is a great park! Very scenic and quiet. SAC Museum nearby was great to see, the planes were impressive! We may come back in the fall to see the geese and Sandhill Cranes.
D34TH987
I go here to hike the trails with my girlfriend all the time. Its a great place to go to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. If you plan on coming here a lot I would recommend to get a year oass to all parks in Nebraska. It is definitely worth it!
Lauren Branting
We visited the indoor playground and had a blast. Very affordable for what you get. There are many places for parents to sit while the kids run around and you can even order Valentino's pizza or other snacks to eat.
Melissa Finger
Great place for family fun! We really enjoyed horse rides. The Wranglers were very experienced and really worked with us to accommodate our needs. The wave pool and Melodramas were also favorites!
James M M Baldwin
One of Nebraska's premier parks. See it. Explore nature's beauty today.
Joseph Meyn
Staff at the gate and pool are a little hit or miss, sometimes really friendly and helpful, and other times downright rude. The cabin we had was gross and all the drains in the showers were so slow after a 5 minute shower you were standing in 2inches of water.
Lynn R
You have to pay for a daily park permit $6, then $16 / adult for Sunday brunch but WELL WORTH IT. Everything we tasted was wonderful. And COKE products YEAH!!!!
LeAnn Meyers
Such a beautiful place has a swimming pool a zip line and a bunch of trails and places to have a picnic
Jason Galvan
Pretty fun place. The only thing better would be to charge more reasonable prices. I had to pay 30 dollars for my motorcycle which i already had 4 other vehicles with stickers for the park in my family that is camping. It is way over priced considering the awesome black hills in South Dakota for 10 bucks you can ride through all of their state parks for 7 days. Very disappointed with the inability to work with them on this issue. But overall nice place to camp. Very clean and kept up.
Aaron Potter
Awesome state park that is well kept and can keep you busy all day long. There are various hiking trails through the woods with great views at some spots of the Platte River. Mahoney has a water park with a few fun slides, wave pool and kids area. In the heart of the park you will find an 18 hole disc golf course, mini golf and a driving range.
Lee Sandhoefner
Awesome state park summer and winter activities. Sledding hills have restrooms in adjacent building. Great pool facilities also, splash play area for little kids, water slides and wave pool for older kids and adults, Typical pool with diving boards also. Lockers for rent and showers in locker rooms. Concessions also available.
Idalyne Bryant
Everything was great. The wave pool is amazing however not for little kids to be left and unsupervised. It is a hazardous place for kids under the age of 9 to be left alone In. And the wave pool does have a little too. Much chlorine in it. And the bathrooms was horrible. But the pools was great and the wave pool is awesome. Its better to have a floaty tube in handy when you come because one tube costs 3 dollars. And you can go ahead get one from the dollars store that comes with 2 In a pack for just 3 or 4 dollars. But other than that it's a great place. They even have a kids area. for little Kids and infants and a regular pool and a 2 slides. It's a great place as well ask they have paddle boating on the other side but be warned about paddle boating it's In lake water and they have multiple ppicnic areas and picnic houses and horse back riding and thay also have a arts and crafts area and they have a resutant on premises as well as many bathroom areas and it also has a cabin area for camping and a outdoor camping area. Great place to be to spend some quality time together with your family in the summer time.
Andrea Warren
I really enjoy this place; however every single thing cost so much to do. It is like you have to plan on spending over 100 a day as a family to do anything besides hang out at the overpriced cabin. It is a great place to stay, just plan on spending an arm and a leg when you go if you plan on doing anything because everything costs at least 10 a person minimum.
Amy Westrum
We camp here every summer and then again every Thanksgiving in the lodge. We love it here. There is so much to do... unfortunately the campground hosts at Little Creek Campground are incredibly rude. We heard this from other campers and thought maybe they were just exaggerating, but it's definitely true and disappointing.
Debbie Penny
Beautiful fall colors. First time to drive thru this park! Will be back. Love all the paved roadways and activities offered.
Laurie Jirovsky
We enjoyed our stay at the lodge. But had to pick and choose which of our kids did which activity since prices are a bit outrageous for activities. Highly recommend NOT going to the pool. They have ridiculous rules that they choose to enforce at random but not all times. Even when the only sign to notify the customer is No Running. You can't dive or even jump into the pool from the side on the deep end. Which is only enforced by some not all life guards. Only children can slide on the tube slides in the activity section. The innertubes you pay extra for are only for use in the wave pool, don't think about taking them elsewhere. You cannot jump off the diving board with goggles on. After being there 2 hours I was confronted to see if our son's life jacket was Coast Guard Certified. The lack of communication, consistency and display of their numerous water park rules started to create such a miserable time. Looking back we wish we would have made a bigger stink about the protein bar in the package that was floating in the kid area for an hour while they turned theit heads. And my husband would have handled the large dead mouse floating in the children's area when we arrived at opening on Monday July 8th quite differently knowing how ungrateful for their customers this pool was.
SixHexSix
Shortest drive from Omaha to catch a somewhat dark sky if you wanna star gaze. Still quite a bit of light pollution, but you can still capture the Milky Way and meteor showers without having to drive 3 hours.
Gregg Wicklund
I live in Alaska, the lodge was fairly priced for the food. Although I think they could do more for the kids menu. My kids and I loved the waterpark. We spent many days there, I understand mark up but felt 3$ for a Gatorade that you can spend 5$ for and get 8 at Walmart was a bit steep. Over all if we make it back we will be going again and again.
Nancy Yechout
It's A great park! We camped for a couple of days. We had our Golden Retrievers with us
It was a really nice time, & fun camping!!
Monika Hald
Campsite host offered us a free newspaper and lighter. Felt safe with a former police officer looking over us on that cold 31° night. We even arrove around 10 pm and were still let in and lead to the lodge for securing a campsite
Sarah Leatherwood
Mahoney is my favorite place to camp and we have been coming here for years. However, this is the second holiday weekend in the last year that the grass around our camping spot was not mowed. The areas around us were mowed but ours was close to a foot high in some areas. We also had to have them come and clean the fire pit as it was full of trash and so deep in ashes there wasn't room for wood. I will still come here but it makes me wonder if the money spent on new cabins would have been more wisely spent to clean up the existing camping areas and hire more summer help. It's a beautiful park, let's keep it maintained.
Lynn Carda
No firepit at the cabin but we come here to sled when they make snow and that's pretty cool. They have plenty to do even on a rainy day you can take the kids rock climbing.
Jennifer Velde
one of the best plces to camp with kids... even without! the pool is the biggest hit, however $10 per person adds up quickly! putt putt golf is always fun and the melodrama plays are a must!!
jennifer patire
Mini golf course is nice and shaded and challenging enough you don't find congestion between holes. They were out of score cards and putters were bare. We wish there was a snack shop since it's 18 holes and a driving range.
Kyle Martin
Love the disc golf course here. Shot my personal best of 11 down as of 7/2/20! Park has a lot of other wonderful features too!!
Philip Porter
This is a great facility with a lot of activities in the park. The campground facilities, however, need some TLC. There are several sites that looked like they would become mud holes if it rained. There was only one shower/restroom in the lakeside loop campground and it needs updated/maintenance/cleaned. I was surprised with the noise from the interstate, it's louder than I would have expected. In addition, railroad tracks are nearby and the trains run all night.
Jerome Osborn
The main lodge restaurant was very good this year('21). Hope they get contract for next year. Good chef, good food, good service. Love the "view".....♡
Marie L
It's like a resort and hardly roughing it. There are cabins and the lodge. Full camper hook-ups. You can paddle boat at the marina, play mini golf or go to driving range. There is a wave pool with water slides. A craft center. Horseback riding. Melodrama plays. Sledding and ice skating in winter. An activity center with a ball pit and rock climbing wall. There are also nature trails. It's next to an airplane museum and Henry Dorley zoo safari park. You do have to pay for yearly park permit or daily park permit and for activities. They now have zip lining and tree top adventure.
Teri Farrar
Nice local camping spot. Plenty of nature. We really enjoyed the Hallowen event. We also saw a melodrama with our kids age 3-15 and we all loved it. Tent campers will here the highway all night.
Stephan Northcut
Alot of things that could been great with some attention to detail. Stayed in The cabins, grass was tall, and areas where mower couldn't reach was left over grown. Some weeds reaching over 2 feet. Stick pile from a job left incomplete, in the frint yard of all places, and left there for the four days of our vacation. Trash cans need weighted lids to help keep the raccoon population low. Met a couple starving raccoons at front door, with no intention of leaving. Cute, and not aggressive, but it's a numbers game. Only a matter of time before something happens. Look out tower, free and well maintained. Great view and well built as well. Sways at the top, but it's nice. Outdoor pool park, clean, and food was affordable. Price to get it was high. Wave pool worked once, and the crew was mostly new. Heard from a few people, it was their first day.... Roads are clean, smooth, well maintained. Zip line course was well built and friendly. Daughter suffered from heat exhaustion when we got to 5 of the 6 courses. Workers escorted us to the cabin with A/C and cold water. Very helpful.
Eric Miller
My family and I have had a park pass for years but every time we go back we still find something new. From the clean comfortable cabins to the campground, water park, and trails.
Want to try something different? Lets do a night hike. Pack some glow sticks for everyone in your group and take a walk under the stars.
Kyley Weaver
My family is so lucky to have this state park so close. From playgrounds, to hiking, the lookout tower, restaurant with amazing view, picnic spots, awesome indoor play place, ice skating and the list goes on. This park has something for everyone!
Shane Ferris
Nice disc golf course but whoever makes the disc golf map here needs to updated it! :) We got lost while using the map of disc golf, there were extra holes there, and yeah after that it's all good. :) So, can you please update your disc golf map to make it very accurate? Thanks! :) Also there are Very friendly staff and faculty here at Mahoney State Park! :)
Andrez Castaneda
Awesome place with more things to do than are expected from golf treetop adventures Rock wall trail riding and even the most known observation tower
Kathy Keller
We went patalboting on a amazing lake. After that we went to the observerion tower and had a great view. The hike we went on was gorgeous. My grandkids loved it and so did I. I definitely rate Mahoney 5 stars from my experience there. I hope you get a chance to visit and when you do I you love it just as much as I did

4/24/19 was an exceptionally emotional day for me. We had driven 17 hrs from Austin, Tx due to the passing of BOTH my mom and my husbands mom. One at 6:00 AM and the other at 9:30 PM. I simply could not stop crying. I called and spoke to Angie, I am calling her my Guardian of the Day. All Omaha and Iowa campgrounds are completely flooded out. I had been on the phone all morning trying to find somewhere to go. We had stayed at a Walmart parking lot as we had arrived at 2:30AM from traveling. NOTHING WAS AVAILABLE ANYWHERE. I tried making Reservations on-line but it would not accept it. Everything was booked solid on the weekends. I was completely beside myself, what were we going to do, where can we go with a 35ft Trailer and of course I am still crying. When I called Angie went above and beyond in consoling me, making sure I understood they had First Come, First Serve Sites available and that I would have somewhere to go. I knew she could not actually book a site but she was able to calm my fears. It intensified more when we had a blow out on a tire on our trailer and it was getting later in the day. I called again and Angie answered and assured me once more all was OK and they still had space available. When we arrived she was still there. She was amazing, I of course was still crying and she gave me the most comforting hug ever. She picked a site for us as naturally my mind could not register making a decision. It is a perfect site # 117, you can see the water, it has full hook ups and it’s beautiful here. We will certainly be back under better circumstances when we can enjoy all the amenities the park has to offer. THANK YOU ANGIE for being my Angel and helping me.
Grace Huerta
It's a great place to take the kids to play. (We went to the indoor park) Clean for the most part. Understaffed every time we go. Waiting in lines for 15 plus minutes to get in or get a snack. I would highly recommend taking the kids to go play here.
gucci gucci
Great time with the family we went horse back riding the workers were very nice and answered all our questions, we did the paddle boats, ceramics, and swimming!! It was a great weekend, however they could improve the breakfast at the lodge.
Jonathan Fadok
Fantastic place to enjoy the outdoors. There is something for everyone. The cabins are fully equipped and a great value. The playground is great and ordinarily there are tons of fun family activities.
Joel Franklin
Flippin awesome! This seems to have everything for the young and older. Excellent disc golf course as well. Mostly open, but technical. Had a great time
Mark Dufresne
Amazing amount of buildings and variety of activities, wonderful place to take your kids, or in my case, grandkids! They had a wonderful time at the activity center, which has a gigantic play area that fits literally dozens of kids at a time. A+
Aaron B. Smith
Great park, well groomed. Tent camping brings some noise from the nightly trains (3 this stay) and overheard interstate traffic. Several areas to explore and lots of activities.
Elissa Huebert
This park has something for everyone! The campgrounds fill up fast, so arrive early if you're planning to camp. The lodge and cabins are also nice overnight options. There are some hiking trails available.
Bob Lund
Spent 2 nights at the Peter Kiewit Lodge along with a fairly large group of family members. 40-50. Support and service staff were friendly and helpful. Impressive facilities and very nice park. Did have a negative experience with a manager and a restaurant staffperson. Found them to be rude and unprofessional. Enjoyed our stay but would not recommend for a large group.
Richard Westling
Very nice park. Nice restaurant, good walking trails. Nice large open covered area. Nice bathrooms in the connected building.
Liz Gac
Great place to get away for the weekend. You will hear the train all night, get over it, you are camping! The only downsides to camping is the camp host who becomes a bit overzealous about his job in regards to where vehicles are parked. The other is the other campers who don't know how to keep thier dog from barking ALL DAY. Lots of activities to do, even after labor day. We have booked again for next year!
Timothy Czekaj
I haven't been to the park in 20 years since moving out of the state, but the amount of fun activities to do in the park has only grown. It's great for kids and adults alike.
Owen
I've grown up around this place.Woth trips for family events, boy scout camps and just leisure and it means so much to me. My parents met here and made many dear friends working at the stables.Great scenery and if you take the hike from Peter Kiewet to the tower be sure to stop by the sandstone wall.
Vytas Sapiega
Nice park and campground but trees have not been maintained and there low hanging branches everywhere, not just campsites butt main roads, you cannot pull trailer without constantly hitting tree branches.
patti sch
Aquatic center and paddle boat and overnight in a cabin s'mores for breakfast
Franklin Wood
Lots of open space and lots to see! We've been to the Lodge for a dinner, and also just made a day trip to hike. Both times were very enjoyable and we will be back to experience more of Mahoney.
Heidi Johnson
There are so many family-friendly things to do here. A water park with slides, a zero-entry area for small children, a conventional pool with a diving board, and a wave pool. Inflated tubes for rent for $3 for use in the wave pool. Concessions available. Lots of lifeguards, who are attentive.
Diane Bartek
Our bible group went to there. Each bring food, 3 meals a day and snacks. Some people want or dont want to stay overnight at cabin. They brought the games. Also talk about ourselves. We had good time.

Mahoney has so many things to do but it's relaxing at the same time. I highly recommend the Melodramas! The whole family loves them every time. Painting, paddle boats, and ice cream at the marina. Horseback trail rides. The lookout tower. Wether you are wanting tent camping, have an RV, rent a cabin, or stay in the lodge it's all excellent.

So much to do and see! Aquatic park is THE BEST! Indoor playground also awesome (make sure everyone is wearing socks!$$) Ice skating...the bomb! Hiking, climbing, picnics, grilling...I LOVE THIS PARK!
Steve Haynes
This may be a great park but the older lady working the gate today has a very bad attitude. We showed her the permit we had just bought earlier and she snapped back very quickly saying, you can come in here with this pass or this vehicle. When asked why she just said you just can't and never offered any assistance as to what was wrong or how to fix it. She also said if you're military that doesn't help any. All she had to do was just try to assist up by telling what to do to fix it and where but she wouldn't.
David Williams
Melody was very helpful at camping checkin. She provided lots of area info. Donna? was very nice over the phone too! The campground is nice with just enough sites spacing. Be on the lookout for ticks as I picked up a couple.

This place is probably one of the crown jewels of the state of Nebraska. If you are from out of town and I are looking for a very good time in an extremely well kept park, this is your place. Swimming, horseback riding, miniature golf, winter plays and summer melodramas, hiking trails, Lodge, paddle boats..... This place is incredible. There is a play place that looks like Burger King swallowed the Titanic in size where your kids will simply wear themselves silly, playgrounds throughout the park too. Seriously what are you waiting for you should go!

Sledding on a warm winter day was a blast
Mike Gerdes
Love it. There is so much to do at this place. Great place to take your family. All kinds of activities, swimming, zip line, cabins to rent, camping, restaurants and so much more. The possibilities are endless. I highly recommend if your looking for a great time, go to Eugene T. Mahoney State Park. You won't be disappointed.
Allan Hagin
The place to camp if you are afraid the kids/grandkids will be bored. Not here! Hiking/fishing/put-out and frisbee golf courses, driving range, water park, and more...campground and facilities well maintained.
Jonathan Fisher
Neat park. Lots of extra activities- water park, horseback riding, paddle boats, etc. Extras are a bit pricey. Big lodge with a restraunt - we didnt eat there so I can't comment on its quality. Campgrounds are clean and nice. The office screwed up our reservation, but was easy enough to fix once we showed them our paperwork. It's big.
Gary Walter
Nice park! We like the water park and ice skating.
My only complaint is the lack of training for teenage workers. I've skating patrollers don't really keep overly fast skaters under control; and lifeguards don't appear to be attentive.
Bryce D
Nice park. Enjoyed the $5 18 hole mini golf.
Terry Craddock
Lots to do from swimming to horse back riding and much more. Love coming to this park which is just a short drive from Lincoln and Omaha. The park is kept very clean with plenty of camp sites and a helpful staff.
Jared Brekel
Bring some extra cash because you'll wanna zip line, paddle boat, and ride the horses. Mini golf is fun too. Lots to do here. Even the water park is awesome.
Aaron Wiese
I have many happy memories at Mahoney state park. I've lived in Omaha for the past three decades and spent many happy summer afternoons fishing, paddle boat riding, mini golfing, and doing a dozen other fun activities here. I look forward to going to Mahoney every year.
Roxanne Straub
Mutual First Federal credit Union had a corporate event here. The park is perfectly set up for hosting such events. The food was good. Zip line was a great activity.
Mitch Finnesgard
Mahoney Park is great family time. There is a lot of choices for staying from campgrounds to cabins to lodges. There a lots of local activities such as a pool with lots of slides, mini golf, playgrounds, hiking, fishing, non-motorized boat rentals, and plenty of more. Close by they have the Strategic Air Command museum with all sorts of eras of aviation history to include a B-52, SR-71, A-26, B-1A, Atlas and Thor missles and lots of other aircraft along with a lot of history exhibits. Across the highway is the Wildlife Safari with local animal of which most are rescues. They have bison, bald eagles, cranes, deer, elk, wolves, bears and much more. There are naturalists available to answer questions and a good hike where you can see the wildlife up close. Nebraska sure cares for their state parks. We will be back!

We camped here one night in a tent. We arrived late but the lodge was open 24/7 which is awesome. The area is very dark at night as is somewhat hard to find signs for diff. campgrounds and stuff but we made it just fine. Nice and quiet, well maintained, and we loved the area. Very nice!
Reita Anderson
Very pretty. However, WHY are site number posts placed so they impede backing into the site. Obviously those putting in the posts are not familiar with campers including how opposing sites effect parking, how unfortunate. The trees here are not and pretty, note sure what the acorns hitting the camper roof will do. Otherwise this would be a 5 star rating.

The instructions were clear and the instructors were every step of the way for assistance and encouragement...It was a workout, but so much fun. Highly recommend for family and friends and even a corporate event.

103 had a great view of lake. Nice and pleasant stay
Porsha Holmes
Great place for a family get-together. Attractions are a bit pricey.
Michelle Lynn Smith
Easily the best state park in the country. Lots of family friendly activities in every season. Beautiful grounds, cheap activities including paddle boats, crafts, fishing, horseback and pony rides, large indoor play structure, ice skating, sledding run, play grounds, outdoor basketball court, arcade, hiking, and observation tower! Camping and lodging is abubdant-- cabins, hotel style accommodations at the main Lodge, full RV hookups, and tent camping sites. Finally, conference rooms, outdoor picnic shelters, and a couple of beautiful spaces for weddings are available for rent. These spaces all fill up fast, so popular times need to be reserved a year to the day in advance, but Mahoney always holds a limited number of camping/RV sites and picnic shelters for walk up first-come, first-serve reservations each day. Coming soon -- a new ropes/adventure course with zipline! A great place to spend a day or week out here in Nebraska.

Mahoney State Park never leaves me disappointed. From the cabins to the horse rides to water slides and pool, I am the biggest fan of Mahoney. This is time well spent, every time.
Jason Mussack
Mahoney State Park has many activities to do that you don't normally get at a camp ground. It's a huge park with cabins, camper and RV pads and a lodge.
Although some of the older attractions, like mini golf, are a bit worn and dated... they are adding zip lines, alpine slides, tubing hills and more in 2017.
Add some extra spending money to your budget for horse rides, paddle boats, ceramics painting and the water park.
The lodge breakfast buffet has a good range of decent choices.

Spent 4 hours at the Waterpark, gets busier in afternoon, kids loved the wave pool, slides. Allowed to come and go to tail gate, food available inside, but we packed a cooler and chairs for the shade trees. Zero entry Kiddee park next to wave pool, deeper pool seperated by eatery and pavement was not as busy. Played putt putt afterward, kids first time, inexpensive introduction to an easy course.
Dillon Fallon
Great place to visit. Camping is not peaceful because of the proximity to the highway
Laura Quackenbush
Absolutely fantastic time for the entire family. Sledding, ice skating, wall climbing for different skill levels and huge indoor play structure. Great prices on activities and food. We will be back soon.
Gwen Groenjes
Have never had a bad experience but this time I was a bit upset. We were in Little Creek spot #4 and the people camping in #2 had pulled in and not backed in and that put their front door facing us and them sharing our camping spot. It seems they knew the camp host otherwise would they have been allowed to park the wrong way.
Jon Riesgaard
Very beautiful park. Had dinner st the restraunt food was good scenery was a 10. Lots to do even when its hottttt.
Doug Heberlee
Relaxing. Cant wait to go back and check everything out

This is one of the best Disc Golf courses in the entire state, plus it has a ton of other activities for the whole family. A yearly pass is only $25 and you don't have to pay any additional to play the course
Mindy Gallegos
Went to the pool!! Wasn't too crowded had fun! Spent all day there.
Jack J
Great state park. Everything is maintained well at the campground and the kids really enjoyed the indoor playground and rock wall. Can't wait to make it back for sledding and ice skating
Leslie Chamberlain
It's a beautiful place.
There are so many different things to do while you are there
Jon Shaw
One eastern Nebraska's best state parks! Stay between Memorial Day and Labor Day for the best summer activities to be available (we haven't done that yet). Tree top climbing course scheduled to open the summer of 2018 along with other new activities.
Melissa Williams
You can come everyday of the weekand do a different activity everyday. Very affordable. Fun for all ages.
Omaha Juggalo
Played the disc golf course. Tuff course if you find yourself in the rough. Very well taken care of!
Bill Jones
The Observation Tower is a must; spectacular views of the Platte River!
ryan boverhuis
more activities for families than you can shack a stick at! I have three kids and they all loved it. paddle boats indoor play area, huge pool, playgrounds, ice cream at the marina. fishing was fun.
Beca Lynn
I worked at Mahoney for a few months in the summer into winter and let me tell ya, I loved it! Everyone I worked with were wonderful! You don't get paid a lot to work as a temporary employee but they were so flexible and accompanying with me. I would give anything to go back, just to far to drive with gas prices now.
While working their I gained knowledge about the park that was so interesting and made me feel even better about working out there. Almost all the buildings were built on donations! Also some of the money made at Mahoney helps all the other smaller state parks and recreational areas stay open that don't have enough coming in to keep it operating. Head out and enjoy one of the many attractions at Mahoney, my favorite is the arts and craft center, check it out and choose from one of a hundred ceramics to paint, best part no mess at home! :)

Highly recommend for a family camping trip. We went in summer 2020. Beautiful, clean, water park was great. Breath of fresh air!!
K Michalak
We have been camping here several times this year and it is a nice and peaceful campground with lots of activities to do.
Ann Truong
Lots to do here. We love the indoor playground and ice skating rink during the winter. You have to go sledding too. The cabins, trails, and swimming pool are great during the summer.
Issa L
Great park, price isn't bad. Kids loved the indoor park!
Jessica Olson
Beautiful state park! The view from the tower is great, and it seems like a great place to stay because there are dozens of camper cabins. The only downside was that the trail I wanted to walk on is apparently closed during the week :(
Annie Oldenburg
Well kept park, friendly staff, great camp sites! They have quite the variety of things to do for everyone in the family (disc golf, walking trails, lake for paddle boats, etc.) We stopped for a quick one night passing but I will definitely be back.
jusTodd
Well maintained park. We only went to the restaurant and were sorely disappointed to have to pay for a day pass to do that only. Especially considering it was mediocre at best.
Colin Conway
There’s plenty to do here, especially if you have little kids. Horseback rides, the marina, Alpine slides, putt putt, the lookout tower, etc. The people are also super friendly every time we have gone here. If you get a chance, rent a cabin, those are great as well.
Tina Mruz
The melodramas at Mahoney are just a barrel of fun. You throw popcorn at the villain, and throw folded up paper money at the rest of the cast. It's like feeding the monkeys at the zoo. it is so much fun. Great for the whole family.
Adam H
Stayed at the lodge it was very nice and peaceful visit the river view side is nice and the employees were helpful Sunday brunch was very reasonably priced the only thing I can complain about was that the beds are definitely "used" 😉 I think they should invest in some new ones but other than that very nice place I will probably be staying agian but maybe I'll try a cabin next time
