St. Bernard State Park was one of two locations that I stopped with a 13' travel trailer during a trip to New Orleans. It was about a 30 minute-1 hour drive to various parts of town. The area was quiet, fairly well spread out, clean, and safe. The park is laid out as two loops. The showers had wonderfully hot water. The best part, however, was the staff. Though I went during the holiday season, I was called beforehand to acquaint myself with the park, I had my own map with added instructions waiting for me, and everyone I talked to was kind and helpful. I felt very welcomed during my stay. I also work online, so I can let people know that at&t tower signal is good enough for video conferencing, though I would perhaps not use the wifi at the park. For some reason, it made me experience connectivity issues, even with things like calls, that was a bit frustrating. If possible, just stick to cellular (the only negative I have for the experience, which could just be something that happened to me). All in all, I would definitely stay here again. (Weather in December was perfect : 60-75 the entire time)

What a beautiful surprise just a few minutes south of the city. If you’re visiting New Orleans and you want some authentic deep South feel come take a walk around this park. Great walking trails. Great camping. Clean and safe. Check out picnic island. Love it here!!!

We paid about $22 a site for water and electric hook ups at St. Bernard State Park. There was a dump station on site that we used and it worked just fine. The sites were decently spread out. There are about 50 sites on the property most seemed to be able to accommodate rigs 35 feet+. The bathhouse was a good size and quite clean. The showers had good water pressure and got hot. If you go later in the morning after many people though the hot water may run out.
Overall, this was a well laid out park at a super reasonable price. Do be aware that this is the swamp area, so it is swampy! It is very wet in general.

Great spot to camp close to new Orleans, rangers are very nice. Everything we needed. Clean bathrooms and showers, very quiet. Located in a swamp so... of course there are 🐛bugs, birds and snakes 🐍. …

St. Bernard State Park Campground is about a 25-minute drive to the French Quarter and Jackson Square. Why stay in a campground downtown in unsafe areas with all the loudness after hours when you can stay at this peaceful retreat at a fraction of the cost? We were so pleased we chose this campground. Would be happy to stay here again.
Super friendly and professional staff. Everyone was very helpful with information.
We were pleasantly surprised with how quiet St. Bernard’s State Park Campground was. We had a very good rest. Occasionally, we did hear whatever wildlife make sounds at night from the tree line. Some areas were a bit swampy. Probably need to watch out for swamp wildlife. We didn’t walk any trails or venture out into the park much. We spent most of our time walking the city.
The campground is gated. Reservations in advance are recommended. You will need a gate code for after hours. Our site was a back-in site plenty long enough for a 34’ 5th wheel. It was a level asphalt site with water and electricity. It had 30 and 50 amps. The 20 amp 110 outlet did not work. They came to fix it on our last day. This campground is an older campground that has many amenities perfect for a family. We did not use the bathhouse or other facilities. The campground was fairly clean. There was a little garbage in the tree line. Had we stayed longer, we would’ve cleaned that up. This area is still recovering from a hurricane. There are some places in need of clean up.
The dump station is on the wrong side. It’s a bit awkward. Not too difficult to manage. No long line to wait.
Not sure that I would want to stay in New Orleans during the July/August months because of the heat and humidity. The locals say that’s the most unpleasant time to visit.
Highly recommend staying outside of downtown New Orleans at one of the state parks. You can get an Uber, Lyft, or taxi downtown and then use the RTA streetcar system and walk to shops. Driving downtown is difficult, especially in a truck. Streets are old, narrow, and one-way. If you do drive downtown, you’ll need to park in a parking garage. The ones closest to the French Quarter are very expensive. You can park in the warehouse district and walk about 15 minutes or use RTA to get around. After 4-5 pm, many shops start shutting down and drinking/partying are more prevalent near Bourbon and Frenchman. You’ll need a Lyft or Uber if you stay after dark.
Highly recommend visiting Café Du Monde, French Market, and Jackson Square. There’s a place called Aaron’s Donuts & Barker’s Dozen that has really fresh soft donuts and King Cake just up the street off of St. Bernard HW6.
Grocery shopping and big rig friendly gas stations aren’t too far.
We felt pretty safe and secure in this location.
Know before you go that as of January, 2022 downtown New Orleans is enforcing pretty strict mandates for indoor shopping/dining. Call ahead or visit business websites for health updates.

Great place to launch your adventures into New Orleans. Thirty minutes from French Quarter.
Facilities are tired yet fully functional and plenty of hot water.
Be inside before dusk to avoid mosquitoes.
Lovely staff.
Gary & Kris Steiner
Very nice park. All sites are paved and level. There are three sites in the park that have sewer hookups, sites 12, 15, and 16. We stayed here in a 40' motorhome and had plenty of room in site 12. There is a nice playground right across the road and the bath house is right behind the site. On the other side of the park is a huge, very nice playground and splash pad, as well as a large, very nice picnic area.
Cori Beach
Beautiful park within driving distance to famous locations. Everything was clean and very well maintained. We have been to a ton of state parks around the country and this one is by far the cleanest I have seen.
Scott Bird
Spacious sites, many of which provide late afternoon shade from the scorching heat of the Mississippi delta! Clean bathrooms, showers and laundry facility. Friendly attentive staff and plenty of wildlife to keep your attention (camp cats, armadillos, raccoons, fire flies, ect…) not to buggy though. I camped out 4 nights with the family. Power and water on site were clean. Would definitely come again. Just far enough south of New Orleans to feel a world away, but only 30-40 minutes drive time away. Oh one more note, there is a gas station down the road that sells all the essentials including ice.

Super welcoming and knowledgeable staff! I cannot remember her name but the park director is wonderful. Electric and water at each site with the dump station at the campground. The only negative I would mention is that we were at site number 42 and if you are in an RV, the step down out your door is steep and slopes away and pretty much because I think someone must have had a mat or covering so no grass. We had to be careful when we stepped out of the RV. Other than that, this was a wonderful Park with very friendly and accommodating staff.

One of the best and cleanest state parks that we have been to. The camp host pays lot of attention to the park. Bathrooms were extremely clean. Park is very well kept. We showed up after dark. Shanice, the camp receptionist waited for us.. The host and hostess both came out to greet us and show us our site. Very friendly. Always waving and smiling when you pass by. Nice quiet trails, water park for kids. Every site has a bar bar q grill. Senior citizens get a discount. Excellent site for tents as well. Definitely will come back again.

This campground is a great option for RVers wanting to visit NOLA, but not be in the crazy madness of the town. The campground is quiet, secure, and the park staff is very friendly (thank you Ginger)! We had a small issue with our site and they were so quick to take care of it.
There must be a barn/farm adjacent to the park, as there is a rooster that crows in the wee hours of the morning. Well before sunrise. It got old.
Brandy Hill
Nice small park. Level sites.
Alot of barking dogs.
Poor cell service
Poor internet.
Kat Riedinger
Really nice & quiet campground. Clean, heated shower house with hot water, even in December! Edit: we returned three years later and it is just as nice! Nature rules here. You can hear coyotes, racoons, frogs and tons of birds. An owl was at our campsite at 4a, just watching us pack our car. Take a walk by the bayou to see so many shore birds. We set up our tent on the driveway (high ground) to avoid the low ground because of heavy rain. The electric and water work great.
Kalvin Moon
I enjoyed this place on a quiet Monday afternoon. It was well kept and had a nice atmosphere about it. Felt safe leaving my car to go on a couple trails. It is pretty small but it's a fun visit to get a nature fix. I would plan for 1-2 hours of exploration.
Inspired2RV
Beautiful park! Could stay here for weeks! Campsites are set far apart, lots of trees for privacy and shade. No sewage, only a dumps station, but clean electricity and water hookups. No pull through sites.
The picnic and water pad area wonderful contained. Lots and lots of wildlife here. On my first day I saw a rabbits and the baby armadillo. Bring your bug spray too!
Ginger was extremely friendly and helpful upon check-in. Felt very welcomed. Chanise answered my questions about how to get across the river using the ferry system. Without her help I would not have attempted it and we had a great experience thanks to her extra helpful information.
Autumn Ray (Wake-Up)
What a great campground! $20 a night for electric and water hook ups and if you are senior 50% off! The grounds are well maintained and offer 2 washers and 2 dryers. They also have shower stalls with hot water and flushing toilets. There is a nice hiking trail that is low impact with great scenery! They even have a resident gator and several armadillos! It rained a bit for our stay but our site had little flooding if any, #5.
hannah westphall
loved how big the sites were, lots of woods and trees make it feel more secluded. good playgrounds, laundry on site, decent bathrooms, and full hookups. only complaint is that the hookups are all directly behind the end of the pavement where your camper sits. our 10’ hose just *barely* reached the sewer receptacle. same with water, it was a super stretch but we pulled it off.
we were here in january and enjoyed it but I can imagine the mosquitos in the summer get GNARLY. lots of potential for standing water everywhere (that’s louisiana for ya).
there is nothing nearby to this park but it’s not a terrible drive into the city, we didn’t mind it for the price and spaciousness.
Amber Williams
Great spot for tent camping when visiting NOLA. Great bathrooms and showers. Prices are great. Scenic area with birds and other small wildlife. Make a reservation to be sure to get your spot.
Joshua Ludy
Great state park. Some of the sites have plenty of space between them. Pretty nice and level. Very clean, and kept up. The staff is great and they go above and beyond. Restrooms are clean and air conditioned. They also offer washers and dryers. My only complaint is with the abundance of mosquitoes.
Joanne C.
Great place to stay near New Orleans. Clean shower house. All sites are back in. Dump station was on side opposite of our trailer. There is traffic noise and an occasional train. Saw egrets, woodpeckers, little lizards, and signs of armadillos. We'll stay again if we're back in the area. Bring big spray or thermacells even in February!
Ann Elizabeth Maier
Great time. Walking, bird watching, exploring the beautiful space. Check out wonderful splash pad. Too cold today, hope to see it with kids in warmer weather.

One night stop on our six week RV trip. This park as much to offer, unfortunately, during our arrival, stay and departure it was nothing but rain. So, the good points; nice asphalt strip to park on. All hookups are at the back of the site (water and electric only, no sewer), and there was strong wifi. Check in was a breeze and the information provided highlighted all there was to do in the area. We used the single bath house the morning of our departure and while dated, it was clean and in fact was being cleaned at 0800 the morning we left. I think the only downside to this park would be the asphalt strips are narrow, meaning we have a small tear drop and even parking our rig on the driver's side of the asphalt, there was only 6" on the passenger side for our door mat. While we were there the mosquitos were out in swarms, so bring bug spray.
J
Great park….Quiet, clean, and cozy! We stayed 2 nights with our camper and had a great spot. Our hot water was out so had to shower in their showers which were very clean. Laundry is quarters only so be sure to have those. Would definitely stay again!
GI Jussy
We had a great stay here. Stayed for a week and enjoyed the quiet the park offered. It's a perfect location and most everything was very easy to get to. The rv spots are nicely separated and almost all the spots have plenty of shade. We'll be back
MGM 1121
Nice campground. We stayed here 3 nights in our RV while touring New Orleans. Nice people to deal with in checking in.
Trace Timmons
Amazing job on your efforts to keep the state park clean and beautiful as it should be and it takes a lot of effort and work to keep it up and I hope that our citizens here in St Bernard where I live are able to keep it up themselves and not destroy something that is beautiful as everybody is destroying the whole world! GREAT PLACE TO BRING YOUR CHILDREN OR YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER TO HAVE A ROMANTIC OR CALM AND SERENE DAY
Breanne Ward
Great park. Had hot water for a shower and nice quiet campsites. Would highly recommend.
Cariann G
Nice campground! Great playground for kids, hot showers, and laundry facility. Lots of space to ride your bike, nature trails, and water area looks like it would be fun when it is open.

We love coming here. It's (kind of) local to us so we come here when we want to get away, disconnect, and have cocktails next to the campfire with nothing but our dogs and our conversation to keep us company. It's camping in the deep south, bring bug spray (the strong stuff) and a Thermocell (with refills), couple citronella candles (the big ones) and maybe a shotgun for the mosquito that's big enough to fly off with your beer. The campgrounds can be busy sometimes, but we have also come here and there only be a couple sites populated. All the staff are very nice and wave every time they drive by. There's one dude that will drive around emptying trash cans nodding his head with the music in his earbuds and a smile on his face. Just good vibes from everybody. I did have bad things to say about the bathroom, but that was only for the first trip we came out here for. Since then it has been fine. There are a lot of wasp around, heads up on that. At night there are opossums, racoons, and armadillo that wander around. Lock your food up, a racoon will steal it if you don't. Happy camping, campers! Included is a potato quality nighttime pic of the last time we camped there.
Michael Gregory
Really pleasant place. Quiet roomy sites, only $14 a night with America the beautiful pass with water and 50 amp service.
Glenn D Rolloff
The walking trail (one) goes around the park in a 2-1/2 mile trail. This campground has a mix of working folks, some longer term folks and quick day stops. Big lots, nice shower rooms and laundry services. We didn't have sewer and the dump station is on the wrong side...😉 but there is room to back up and turn around.
The water park and day-use park is busy on the weekends. Nice spot for family picnics!
Tom Peabody
Quiet park, very convenient to the city. We spent one night in April and there were zero bugs to deal with. If the website discourages you, call them and they will be happy to assist. We didn't immediately see any availability on the website for the night we stayed, but when we called they were able to get us in for the night. If ever in the area again, we will be back for sure.
DIY Real Estate Investing
We just needed a spot for the night. I nice little spot just outside of New Orleans.
It was hot at night and the cicadas were loud but if have a way to keep cool and ear plugs it works.
I think our site was $25.
Becca F
Enjoyed a recent camping trip here. The campground is small but very well maintained. And quiet, even with a full park. The sites all have updated electrical boxes that are lit. WiFi worked really well but we were right by the router, I believe, at site #14. Bathroom facilities are super clean, too.
Angel McCroy
Great park real close to New Orleans the campground itself is smaller and can be tight for larger rigs. We are in a 35ft class A and we fot just fine just make sure you are a good at maneuvering your rig. Miss Ginger is amazing she set us up for success and made sure we knew the hotspots for Mardi Gras.
Riki Goodwater
What a nice campground. It does have a few sites that are full hook up, but they go fast. Not too crowded. Very large campsites. Picnic table on a concrete slab. Nice big fire pit and asphalt campsite. Clean showers and bathroom. Camp attendant was super helpful and flexible. Needed to check in early and was able to do that with no problem. I am marking this site every time we come to New Orleans.
Amber Bartlett
This is the best Park I have ever been too. The staff and park manager are awesome! Every person that works there is friendly, and helpful! The park is kept so extremely clean! The bathrooms are always smelling clean The camp hosts are always friendly! Is you want a place that feels like home away from home visit this park!!! It's a must see!
Robert Bernier
I'm going to give it 5 stars simply because you can tell the hosts and Park staff do a great job on keeping the place clean and well maintained.
Small Park and the walking trails are nothing spectacular but they were well maintained. I don't think I even pulled out my camera and the only wildlife I saw were a few squirrels and one "too friendly" armadillo. You could tell the paths don't get too much traffic as some of the grass was mid calf and didn't show any signs of people walking on them. However, they were a nice change of pace I didn't mind the solitude. Trails are very moderate and level, suitable for small children and elder adults.
The campground was much nicer than I expected. I didn't get a chance to camp but would definitely go back when I get a chance.
Also had a small water park for the kids.
Larry From Wisconsin
Campsites are well spaced and private feeling. 50 Amp electricity and good water pressure. No sewer connection but convenient dump station on the way out. Best priced camping near New Orleans. This is $28.50 per night and I feel safer here than any of the commercial RV parks in New Orleans. Gates here are locked at 9 PM, combination lock so we can let ourselves in. Oh, there was a road kill alligator right outside the gate. I did not see any other alligators but I would not let a Shih Tzu play in the bushes. Totally enjoyed our stay and extended a couple of extra days.

Clean and quiet park don't mind the mosquitos they are friendly. Can't complain great place to zen
Jade Guidry
This place is fun and all the people around you are happy to help you with your camper...
TRYG BUS
Good place to be close to French Quarter, far enough to be quiet and relaxed.
Chuck Tracy
We have visited park twice, both times-same results...nice level sites...clean bathroom and laundry facilities, campground is well maintained and we enjoyed the trails for a good walk, too. Enjoyed seeing the armadillos scampering around and the sounds of owls in the early morning. Loved the park location and proximity to French Quarter..We look forward to a return stay...
Jarret Miller
Awesome! Place to bring the kids. They have a splash pad or if you want to just hang out.
Daniel Boyko
Couldn't ask for a better experience for camping in a state park. Campsites we're clean, check-in and -out were simple, everything worked and was clean in the bathhouse, every campsite (even tent sites like I used) have water. Playground, splash pad, hiking trails enhance the experience further.
Jami Sanderson
Great camping place close to New Orleans but away from the crazies. This is a "swamp" so the mosquitoes will cart your butt off, so get the best mosquito spray you can. Restrooms are nice, plenty of hot water.
I would say if you are tent camping, the driveway to each site is high and dry but the ground around it is low. Bring a good ground cloth, as you may have to camp on the driveway if it's rainy—and you may still have to.
Christian Patriot 333
Loved camping here. Two great play grounds and a splash pad. Hot showers. Two washers and two dryers. It’s was peaceful and lovely. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Sasha Brannum
It was a nice park but not convenient to NO at all. The sites were a nice size and level. My only note is that trains pass through and are super noisy at night. I ended up leaving after one night because I didn't want to deal with the distance and the noise. I could deal with one or the other but not both :D I will say that the ladies at the ranger station were so exceptionally friendly.
Jessica Drier
The park itself is nice and has some good spots for camping. It’s about 30 minute drive to the French Quarter. The paved part of the camping spots are very narrow. We were extremely disappointed in the off duty host though. She screamed at her children every second of every day. They were constantly crying and she just kept screaming all 4 days we were there. Extreme verbal abuse. Don’t book a spot by spot #1. Also the dump station is on the wrong side.
Arlette
Pretty wet, no open trails but it is winter. Reasonable rates, with full hook-ups.
Marina Epps
My family truly enjoyed this beautiful state park! My 5 year old played on the playgrounds ALL DAY long! She loved the splash pad! It was wonderful!
The bathrooms were very well maintained as was the entire park! We will definitely be back soon!!!
Elizabeth Lynch
Small quiet campground with sites well spaced and a clean shower house and friendly staff
Carpenter Cordero
I had a great time camping here. Midweek hardly anyone around. Peaceful and only the sounds of nature.
Marty McMann
Not to busy, had good campsites and had a few trails to walk. Had a nice playground as well.
CJ Samples
It is a nice little state park but a little dated. The spots for RV's are a little shorter than listed length and be careful around dark as the termites swarm anything near any light source. No pool but they have a little splash pad for smaller children.
CollinGamer [GD]
Quiet, clean , large camp sites, plenty of shade, close to belle chase ferry, safe area, on site shower room and laundry, newer children’s play area, internet included, gates are locked at night so no strangers drive through.. campsite 10 is one of the harder to back into sites due to the trees . If your new at backing a camper you won’t want site 10 for your first site but there are plenty of people to help you back in,, finally everyone who works here is friendly..
Darrell & Jeredene Ollenberger
Good access to New Orleans. Nice park, Fair Wifi, No gators, great price. would stay again.
Blaise Pezold
The Nature trail is very pretty in the winter. It is also quite muddy, so bring your rubber boots. The trail is an excellent place to see Trans-Gulf Migratory Birds, Iris and Swamp Lily. The Park is super popular with Snowbird campers! Locals like the splash park in the hot summer months. Overall this park has a little something for everyone.
keren colsten
Great park. We RV camped for five nights. It's located close to NOLA, and it was easy to get around. The lots are huge and spaced widely apart. The wifi was spotty. The mosquitoes were plentiful. Close to the Mississippi River where there is a great path for biking or hiking at the top of the levee. Good laundry. Bathrooms ok.
Angie Owens
Beautiful camp area! Nice kid's playground near by. A splash pad in the day use area too. We would camp here again!
Scott Epps
Beautiful, quiet park with a friendly staff. Close enough to New Orleans to make trips into the French Quarter, but far enough away to have peace and quiet. Also, awesome playgrounds for the kids. Don't be intimidated by the drive through the industrial area, its totally worth it!
Robert Sand
Was a beautiful park, we stayed 4 nights. Mosquito's pretty tough though.
Lisa McDonald
Very friendly people over there. We LOVED the splash pad my grandson loved it so did I
Anthony Clark
Gorgeous, but sooooo many mosquitoes. We weren't ready
Regina Sand
Very well maintained, quiet facilities were clean staff were attentive. We reported that a raccoon had gotten trapped in a trash can he immediately took steps to free it from can. Women at the check in center was very enthusiastic about park and camping on general. Would highly recommend it although being near bayous bring mosquito repellent.
Marie
Beautiful park, conveniently located to New Orleans. We are 30 minutes from the French quarter and all of the activities, restaurants, & parades, but you get to escape the chaos to enjoy peace and quiet back at the park. We’ve seen fireflies, birds, one small (4 ft) gator, and a few rabbits. Plenty of room to walk the dogs and enjoy nature. The laundry room only has 2 washers and dryers, but it’s clean and only $1 per load. The sites are generous in size, but the paved part for parking is very narrow...watched one RV get stuck in the mud. Take your time to park and you’ll be fine!
Jim Rose
An older campground with spacious lots. Not really setup for big rigs. Water and electric only, but dump station on site
Laurel Zeinert
It was a cozy little pk. Not too many trails , wish the pool was up & running but needs a lot of work. Enjoyed my talk with the pk ranger conducting nature hike. You will hear the airboat run.
Driver Doug
Wonderful State Park! Has genuine Louisiana sounds at night ... bull frogs, owls, crickets, birds, and other mysterious night animals. Fantastic hiking trail through the woods and next to canals and wetlands. See the seashell covered trail.
RV pads paved & long. Soft, dim nightlight at each electrical plug-in post. Water spigot raised almost 3 feet above the ground for easy access. Picnic tables at each camp site and a nice picnic area away from the campground in a different section of the park.
Friendly and helpful staff & campground hosts. I'm enjoying my visit here.
Easy drive from downtown New Orleans. Check it out!
...
NOTE: I would have given it 5 stars, except for the noise. When the military fighter jets fly over, it is deafening (plug-your-ears loud). Additionally, there are constant sounds, in the distance, coming from any of several sources: highway traffic, trains, ocean going ships, swamp boats, commercial aircraft. The sounds are the price you pay for a convenient location to New Orleans.
Franklin O'Malley
This is a great place to easily escape the city for a weekend away! Nice sites for tent camping with the bonus of electricity and water since it's also for RV camping. The bathrooms were clean and easily accessible from any camp site. Nice picnic table, fire pit and grills!
S Atkins
Love this park. There’s a nice mile long nature trail and I have seen alligators, deer, a fox, armadillos, possums, huge turtles, lots of butterflies, owls, Mississippi kites, and more! plus beautiful trees and plants like purple wild iris. There are nice bathrooms, picnic tables, a playground and a splash pad for day use. I have never stayed overnight. Lots of open green space to chill out in. The mosquitos are intense certain times of the year, and the trail gets muddy- but it is a real slice of Louisiana, so plan accordingly! I love having this natural space just down the road.
Donald Kren
This was our second visit to this gem of a campground. Several years ago this was the first state park we pulled our travel trailer to. We enjoyed the quiet and clean park and, although we didnt visit it this time, they have a splash park for the kids. What brought us back was this parks easy access to New Orleans. We were able to drive to the french quarter for breakfast and a quick walking/shopping tour and be back in time to pack up before checkout time. We will be back.
Angel and Melisa (4EverHoneymooning)
Tucked away in the bayou (swampland) outside of New Orleans is this public park that exceeded our expectation.
I don't know that I would want to stay here during the summer months (mosquitos would probably eat you alive), but for January it was perfect. The sites were well placed out, had fire rings, fairly level, and had good water and electric. There are not FHU, but do have a dump site in the park.
You are truly in a swamp type environment which comes alive at night. The sounds of frogs, insects, and birds at night was actually enjoyable to us, but I can imagine may be too much for some people. The park is well outside of the New Orleans hustle and bustle, but only 30 minutes away so you can easily access all there is to do. They have a locked gate and we never felt unsafe or that our travel trailer was unsafe. Roads are easy to travel through.
Best of all the pricing is just a fraction of what you would pay in the city. The do offer free WiFi (we didn't use because our hotspots were faster) and both Sprint and Verizon worked well. They also offer Military Discounts.
If you don't mind the drive into NOLA and appreciate the great outdoors this is a solid place to stay.
Marci Tucker
Beautiful, peaceful and serene!
Lisa Cantrell
A relatively small but very quiet and well located state park. We had previously stayed at Bayou Segnette State Park which we liked but found to be a bit of a hassle getting in and out of New Orleans. Saint Bernard is an easy 30 to 40 minute drive into the city. The camping sites are spaced well and when there are leaves on the trees I imagine there is quite a lot of privacy, which does not apply when there are no leaves although the spaces are far enough apart that one does not feel on top of one's neighbor. The Comfort stations are impeccably clean and for the most part, except in the morning when everyone is showering, there is plenty of hot water. The pressure is good and there are washers and dryers which we have not used but look to be in decent condition. $1.25/load The only thing detracting from the park for me is that there is only the park and the summertime splash Pool which limits any kind of hiking or biking. Once outside the park it is Highway and not conducive for biking. The area near the park is somewhat run down and several miles down the road is a large refinery. However, this is an excellent place if you want to go into New Orleans and have nice quiet nights when not in the city.
Lee Ann Rider
Nice park. Good campground. Clean warm bathrooms/shower and laundry. Looks like it wd be fun for kids in warm weather. Look at available sites before you ho with the one you reserved on line as some are more desirable than others. Staff very helpful.
Richard Collar
This was my first time at this park, and it was very reasonable! Forgot to take pictures. People there very friendly and helpful. The price was $25 per night, with electric and water hookups. Campsites were very easy to park a RV! Rangers had freshly brewed coffee at headquarters!
Team Huey
Great location. The ladies in the office are very friendly and helpful.
Sites are a little tight and narrows
Gail Steiger
Great location; about a half hour from the French Quarter. The Ranger, Ginger, was super friendly and most helpful about the park and places to go and restaurants to visit. Park itself is an older park... Spacious campsites but shorter paved areas for RV's. We did barely manage to get our 38' RV on the door with our car in front.
There were several fire ant hills near our site and they had a sign up on the bathroom door warning about bees and wasps possibly being a problem in the bathroom. Luckily it turned colder while we were there and we didn't have a problem with them. There were also a lot of holes in the ground and on the trail... The Ranger thought they were snake holes from what we described... Said they often come out on spring with warmer weather. We did see lots of holes but no snakes.
Be aware that in spring and warmer weather in particular.... There are lots of mosquitoes and no-see-ums. That's because there is a swamp running through the campground with standing water. Just need to be aware and prepared... It's fine in cooler weather.
Sandra Olivier
Touring around. Quiet nice!
Matt Morey
Miss Ginger the park supervisor was very kind and directed us to the best local spots. The park is very quiet and we'll maintained.
Jim Courville
Nice park for tenters and small to medium sized rigs. Spaces well equipped with tables, grills and firepits. All roads and rig spaces are asphalt. Many spaces with 50A and water. Dump site at exit. Excellent picnic sites and very large pavilion. Clean restrooms and showers. Recreation area for kids away from campers. All sites are back in and relatively short with obstacles making maneuvering extremely difficult for large rigs. Excellent tent sites.

Amazing wildlife! We saw owls, crows, robins, finches, cardinals, grackles, and egrets. The armadillos move from place to place but we saw them on several different days. On the sunny days we saw small alligators, lizards and turtles sunning. Ranger Ginger is very knowledgeable of the local wildlife and took the time to explain the mud piles as crawfish "homes".
If you visit the office, you can see where the high water mark was for hurricane Katrina. There are 2 washers and 2 dryers in the bathhouse ($1 for each). The showers are decent and clean. A lot of the sites were extremely wet but they are decent sized and all have a cement pad for campers. There are water and electric hookups at each site. The dump station is on the "wrong" side (it's on the passenger side) so you have to go turn around and pull back into the camping area to dump.
Overall this is a beautiful park and close enough to visit downtown NOLA but far enough away to be able to enjoy nature. Oh, and bring your bug spray for the mosquitos.
Alicia Villanueva
The splash pad and playground are absolutely great. We tried to walk the trail, but got bombarded by mosquitoes and had to turn around. We'll try again in winter. Free for parish residents on Sundays and $2 per adult/$1 per child normally.
Noel Niswonger
Nice and quiet, very clean RV sites, bathrooms and showers, friendly staff, and even a cat hanging out
Panda Monium
Definitely a great base camp for visiting New Orleans and fairly inexpensive compared to other RV parks in the area. This park is only for camping not much to do. No real hiking or biking trails and not much to see but a lot of bunnies. They do have a pool which was not open while I was there. It was off season and they also have children's playgrounds, but that's pretty much it.
Dave Butler
A hidden gem. Just minutes from the French Quarter but you would never know it. The friendly staff go above and beyond to keep the park looking while treating their guests like family. The campground is quiet and well maintained, with sites spaced far enough apart to be comfortable. There are two playgrounds and a splash pad for the kids, both sheltered from the hot southern Louisiana sun, as well as two pavilions for gatherings and crawfish boils. Supplies are an easy drive away and I highly recommend "the Green Store" (Guillory's) just a mile or so down the road for great take out food. (We are especially fond of their muffulettas). For travelers there is also the convenience of a hardware store nearby that refills propane tanks. Whether for a weekend or a couple weeks you will enjoy your state here.
Tim H
We stopped here on our way home looking for a place to eat some deli sandwiches we just picked up. I showed the guard my access pass and still had to pay a buck per person to get in. No biggie. The park has some picnic tables, bit nothing ice to look at while sitting at them to eat. The park really doesn't have any views at all. There is a pavilion that can be rented, a splash park for the kids, and some campsites with hook ups. There wasn't anything special about this park.
The Gonzo Hunter
For amenities, price, and proximity to Nola, you can't beat it. Sites are level, showers hot, they have a laundry room, electric and water hookups.
Gerard Hoffman
It's a beautiful park about 30 minutes south of New Orleans, its quiet, well kept and the employees and camp hosts are very friendly and helpful. It's the only park I will stay at when I go to New Orleans.
Don Sanders
Beautiful park , splash zone playground for the kids . And it's only 20 minutes away from new Orleans.
Maria Mcknight
Nice, clean park. There is covered picnic areas and plenty of shady spots. Trails are well kept. Bathrooms are available. The kids all loved the spray pad.
rudel stricker
The best part of the park imo is the camping site for RVs and tents. 30min by car from the French quarter, it's one of the most nearest inexpensive (22$) and safe sites with acceptable standards, even if you take into account the additional parking fee, eg 30$ per day.
Edith Brewer
Huge sites lots of trees and nature sounds
Nichelle Inman
St. Bernard State Park 7-13
Nice large sites. Back in site with water & electric. Wifi was ok. Plenty of room and privacy. Mosquitos were vicious but not the parks fault. We used A LOT of bug space! Dump station is situation so that the dump are is on the wrong side as you go out so we had to run the sewer hose under the rig. Other option was to go out, turn around and come back in. There was no easy way to do this. Bummer they didn't accept our disbled pass since we weren't residents.
Kay Love miletto
Very nice park only reason not 5 stars was went to take a shower Sat morning and there were dead and live wasp all over the floor nice walking trail

Nice park with camp sites that are not too close together. Plenty of trees to give it just the right feel for a park. Lots of bugs including ants and misquetoes.
Lisa Hickcox
We love this place- hiking paths, alligators, armadillos, scads of birds-walked 20 min to the Mississippi levee & watched the cruise ships leaving- great food all over the area-the camp hosts are friendly, & so helpful, & had info about the area & its critters- CLEAN campground & showers & laundry were always warm & very clean- trash picked up daily- the prices are reasonable- the hookups are kept in good shape--minutes from New Orleans & Bourbon St.- lively little gem & we will be back every winter, hopefully!!
Wilma Kelley

The only place to RV near the French quarter! Water and electricity.. open for campers and tent camping as well! Quiet and secure, an excellent place to unwind and relax!
Sam Plouffe
Love the free showers, but would be great if there was a dish cleaning station. At night we heard owls!
Tim Hartman
The only real complaint I have is that the dump station is on the wrong side of the drive, and the drive is only one way around the loop. When you leave you have to into another section of the park to turn around and dump. And then you have to go back through all of the spots again to get back out. It's one lane and of anyone is hooking up or unhooking you'll have to wait until they are done.
John Shuler
We just love this park, will be staying every year when in the area. Park folks are super friendly and helpful.
Tony Powers
Love to take my kid here. So glad they started charging. It was starting to get a bit trashy. Now it is being kept up with and it is easy to keep the rules enforced.

Great park..We are staying for two weeks (in our RV). RV/tent slots are large and spacious (we are in a 40' Class A..anything more would be difficult) and well-spaced apart. Extraordinarily quiet. Very nice nature trail. Bathrooms/Showers are aging, but clean.
Hugh Smith
Small camping area but sites are spaced out so you're not on top of anyone else. Very quiet. They have WiFi but it's sporadic toward the rear of the campground. Very clean. Need to remodel the showers but there has been plenty of hot water. Mississippi river is a 1/4 mile away and New Orleans 18 miles away.
Yves Gauthier
Love the Park, great location for a quick drive to French Quarter, camping sites could get more privacy . But campsite size are ok. I would come back if driving in the area.

(Translation) Super nice place, inexpensive and well maintained. The people who take care of the park are kind and always ready to help you. 2 services (electricity 30/50 amps) and drinking water for all sites and some have 3 services. There is a place to drain your dirty water tank at the exit. About 25 minutes from downtown New Orleans and a little less to the tourist areas.
We stayed 6 days at this place and often came back late at night from the city. You'll pass through a few poor neighborhoods to get to the campground, but we never felt unsafe. Police surveillance is increased in these areas and several locals have informed me that the danger is low.
