Reviews of Parisite DIY Skatepark
Happened across this place while in NOLA on vacation. Nice big bowl, street course and assorted grind areas. There is a halfpipe in the process of being constructed, needs ply and masonite to be complete. My son really enjoyed it and made new friends while there. Being under the overpass keeps folks out of the sun.
This park is really cool. It’s like NOLA’s own Burnside or something. Reminds me a bit of Washington St. park back in San Diego as well. They’ve got a really cool snaking vert section and bowl, as well as a great quarter pipe/pyramid/ledge run underneath the freeway. On the outer edge of the park there’s a large assortment of different-sized fun boxes that makes for a good grind-line section. There are some cracks in the floor, and it is is DIY, so some areas are a bit rough around the edges, but all-in-all Parisite is one of the most legit DIY parks I’ve ever been to. Be careful coming late at night — the homeless sleep next door and will lob rocks over the fence.
It has been sometime since my last visit and upon arrival you can tell the locals have been putting in a lot of hard work. Plenty of stuff to ride for all levels of skill. Have fun ride your bike
The locals are welcoming to me and my two boys one 10yrs old and a 2yr old. It's what you make of it, I'll be there with my boys every time we're in town!
I would say this is a great skatepark. I have had a lot of fun here but the neighborhood is pretty much the hood and it is scary. The people there have never bothered me and they seem really nice. They have a nice street set up! The bowl is really nice because the drop ins aren’t too steep. I would say this is a really good place for anyone who wants to go to a fun skatepark. I would just recommend if you are a kid try to bring your dad instead of mom. Im not trying to say Men are always stronger than women but it would definitely be more safe. Have fun!
Badass DIY. One of the best ive ever been to. Good vibes from everyone I was around. Cant wait to return again
I loved the shade and my son loved the park. Lots of options and great layout.
Wow! The contribution to upkeep and build new ramps and table tops from the local community is amazing from buying all new wood and repairing the halfpipes to buying hamburger meat and buns and feeding everyone that's there .... let alone the concrete work with the actual in ground pool the drop in pools for truck riding and grinding very amazed and proud of the city of new Orleans for actually doing something for the communities around investing money into activities that will keep many youth and older kinds busy to avoid complete negative and toxic activities. This place is huge Friday and Saturday nights they have music going sometimes concerts always having a good time all skaters bikers rollerblades razors bmx bikes welcome even spectators COME CHECK IT OUT IT'S WORTH IT IF YOU NEED SOMETHING TO DO...
Super awesome DIY skatepark under the 610 bridge. I was visiting from Indiana and all the locals were welcoming and friendly. Would love to spend more time there.
What a great place for kids and adults who love to skate or listen to some rocking music on Sundays. Definitely going back there again! Had a wonderful time even though I can't use a skateboard for the life of me 😆 …
I was in town for a little get together and ran across this place.. was definitely caught off guard but am glad I ended up under the overpass.. and that's the only time I will ever be able to say that again I'd imagine (being happy to have been under an overpass, that is)
Fricken awesome park! Kids can ride and have fun along with the adults. People are cool out there, everyone just wants to skate and have fun. BMX, skateboards, scooters bring it and have a blast! They have so many ramps, table tops, bowls, seriously a great skate park for anyone from a beginner to a pro can have an awesome time here!
Really good place to skate.
Best skatepark around, huge bowl, swimming pool, and nice street course. They're always adding something new or having local events.
Awesome experience, well done. My buddy and I had been driving all day on a road trip, heard of this place, and got super psyched. This was much needed after 12 hours in the car and did not disappoint. 10/10
I go there every day it’s a great community my only note it doesn’t have a restroom and occasionally toddlers will come and occupy the bowl
Awsome. All types of skating welcome, longboard, rollerskates, and bmx included
Sheeeesh my guy skate or die!!!! VIBES
Decent skatepark for New Orleans. It is properly maintained and several times we have gone there's been people cleaning and painting. You can tell people care about this place and want to keep it a positive experience for all. My son is a new skateboarder and he has met some very nice guys there that give him tips and show him moves. Nice park overall!
Had no idea this place existed until a friend brought me to an impromptu show going on there recently. Actually really cool scene, felt very safe even surrounded by strangers
Probably not for beginners or for ppl who haven't practiced on pavement. Met a new friend though. She was nice and helpful. Loved the atmosphere
Love it, best place I've found too chill with good music and good people in along time! 🙌🎯💯❤️ …
Super awesome DIY park. Better quality features than most any DIY park I’ve ever seen. Bmx friendly, though I’ve heard the locals prefer plastic pegs for the bowl. Respect is key.
Wide variety of stuff too. Plenty of learner ledges and rails, with a range of sizes and shapes, for learning and progressing those new tricks. Super smooth bowl. Even a handful of moveable features! The park was clean and everyone there has seemed friendly and respectful. Holding to a high standard of skatepark etiquette. Park wherever you can, I haven’t ever had a problem finding a spot but it is a free for all.
Love this place! Must go to if you in New Orleans
Great location for learning skaters and experienced skaters!
Few things are better for a community than Parasite Skate Park. If you aren't familiar with what this place is - it's a concrete skate park open to the public until 10pm under one of the many bridges scattered across this city. Louisiana needs more safe public places for teenages to loiter, and I have few complaints about the people who can be found here.
Wanna learn how to skate? Check this place out.
This was my first ever skate park so I dont exactly have a comparison, but Parisite is a fun place to ride your skateboard and/or bmx. It has plenty of ramps to use, along with 2 bowls, and rails everywhere to grind on. The ground is super smooth for a perfect ride on whatever you so choose. If you're a beginner, dont worry they have places to practice anything your heart desires.(does not include massive staircase to fall and bust head open)
Awesome place, love the idea. I just love taking my kids there when the crowd dies down. I love how everyone takes care of the park.....
Not for rainy days, but great when it's sunny. We take our twin 3 year olds and 9 year old to scooter/bike/trike around. And there's a picnic table to chill at for the parents.
Pretty decent skate park... Horrible idea for a music venue. All of your gear will be destroyed as it sinks into the mud! How to get electrocuted and die! No thanks, but I'll skate!
Love the area! Great for beginners trying to get there skills set into stone. A must see if your in the area
Great DIT skatepark. Half of it is the skate park donated to new Orleans by red Bull from the contest that's tour ended on a river barge in the Mississippi river. Local organizations worked very hard to build and keep this park. Please respect it and it's neighborhood. I do not recommend it for kids under 17. Earlier the better. Great random video and photo shoots. Like a lot of urban parks this one gas it's epic days and it's super ghetto days. It is covered by an overpass but can still flood in certain storms. The lights are on at night. But remember that this is a new Orleans park and the crime rate all over the city is thru the roof. Be safe. Keep it clean. And see you there!
Went the other day to shred some sic gnar but there was like, this weird cookie monster band playing so I watched that instead. Have you guys heard of T Hawk?
Really nice for skateboarders
Chill skate park with a good community. Under a bridge, but not too sketchy. Docking 1 star for not having a bathroom.
7th ward Love Hard Headed from Dietrich Busbee Jr chilled there for a few doing some calls taken care of a lil business for garden 🏡 …
Friendly skaters and tons of stuff to skate on from advanced level rails to simple ramps. Plenty of space to skate not too crowded. Had lots of fun with friends.
Fav place 2 skate cool dudes there awesome Paarl obstacles such as ramps, ledges, rails, and an insanely fun bowl to carve!!!! So shouts out dat place is amazing
Fun d.i.y. spot now city owned. Plenty transition and street skate obstacles all jammed in the 3400 block of Paris Avenue. Skate at your own risk.
saw VICE episode, wow very cool place, haven’t been there but looks fun..
Love this place. City needs to take care of it better.
Kind of far way but a fantastic park there's a mini ramp, bowls and a huge street section. Great for kids 👍 …
If you skate and you are goin thru New Orleans check this sit spot out. Really fun, lots of unique features and most all of it skates pretty damn well!!
Went to a show, so awesome, local bands play, some touring bands also, no cover, all fun, outside by the railroad tracks.
Friendly people clean safe area, definitely will be revisiting
The local skate love is real. Clean fun for all ages.
I Come her as much as humanly possible and have met a ton of people who also skate at this park everyone there is kool and they are building a new section that looks amazing
Dragged here by a former roommate who wanted to test out a new board. He had fun while I sat on the sidelines being bored.
Fantastic experience
Y'all have truly done something amazing with little to do it with. I will be coming to skate here soon and will also be donating what I can for the park and the cause. #skateboardingisnotacrime #westbankforlyfe
