Grand Isle state park is one of the Louisiana beachfront vacation destination. This place is perfect for Summer time weekend gateway. You can experience gulf of mexico, and you can wade into the water most of any time of year. You will see lots of productive fishermen caring wild fishes. Liked this place, it has long wide beaches and not too deep water. This place is good for camping, fishing, bringing your kids.

Our experience was rather meh!
Only 2 picnic tables out by the water.
Our bodies were covered in black dirt under our bathing suits! The bathroom & shower area were very clean and we were glad for that.
The drive out to the park was the most picturesque part of the whole trip.

It’s definitely worth the visit if you are going to visit Grand Isle. It’s very scenic and has a nice long pier to walk out on and enjoy the views. We went on a Monday which was nice because it wasn’t crowded which made it very peaceful and relaxing. The tower was pretty cool and gave you nice views from every side. I have added a lot of pictures so you can get a good idea of what it’s like! Definitely worth the $3 per person to explore the state park. There is a trail which goes around the park as well.

Awesome place and tent beach camping best of all! Highly recommend. Met only super nice folks and had a lot of peaceful time as well. The sunsets and sunrises are fantastic - many nights a sunset on one side and the moon rising on the other.
$18 per night for beach camping.

We went last week of Feb. The beach had very few people. We expected quiet but it just was not very quiet as the campground was full and lots of loud ships at night. We were there 4 days and ran out of things to do. So bring out door games, books, bikes, kayaks, fishing equipment and a cart to haul stuff to the beach cuz it is a little jaunt to the beach. Nice area, a few restaurants. We tried n tried to find a guide for fishing with no response from any of them.

It's not really that big of a park, and at first thought it seems that you'd run out of places to explore fairly quickly. But it definitely has its own beauty. Besides, who doesn't enjoy hanging out in the Gulf of Mexico? Pelicans, porpoises, observation towers, amazing piers, a nice (short) trail, clean shower/rest rooms and fishing all combine for 4.5 stars. So I'll round up to 5. We caught it at the end of a very rainy few days, and some sites we're a bit swampy as a result. This is low land. The town is nice, has a couple grocery's and a few restaurants. The only blight is the oil refinery which isn't visible from the campground, but you may hear if not running a fan. I imagine this can be a bustling place in season, but my mid-Nov trip was very peaceful. Will come back for longer. Hope you enjoy.

Probably the best state park we've been to. Not sure if its kept so well due to less people in these Covid times but, my goodness, what a great clean beach area! We live in New Orleans and went down for the first time a week ago and enjoyed it so much that we went back yesterday! We are also planning to go again in 2 weeks. The staff if friendly and it looks like they have some great camping spots too!
Be warned though that Grand Isle is very flippant about taking precautions due to Covid. If you are cautious in your own safety, you'll want to bring your own food as the restaurants near this park are very concerning.

This is a great place to go for a private beach excursion. I will start with the positives: very private, options for amenities, inexpensive, not far from New Orleans, and you can camp right on the beach and have your own camp fire. I gave this 4 stars, which is not the fault of Grand Isle, but the fact they are a victim of circumstance, because I did find multiple tar balls on the beach. This of course is from the BP oil spill a few years ago not too far off this stretch of gulf coast. Lots of history to learn and little spots to explore, worth an overnight camp trip from Nola, just don't plan on going in the dirty water that much.

This place is good for driving experience on the sea bridge to reach the island. We are 3 adults with 2 kids went for tour on DEC 25, 2018 visited this place. The state park members arranged 3 different views to see the beach. We enjoyed beach environment. This management need to take care about tourism by improved facilities. This place is just sea with no attractions. Our kids played In the white sand and sea tides. You have to buy the 3$ entry fee per person to go inside of the place to access the Beach. The address of the location is - 108 ADMIRAL CRAIK DR, GRAND ISLE LA 70358. The receptionist at desk is so kind and helped us lot to find the accommodation and guidance what to see. This is Good for one Time visit when you plan trip to NEW ORLEANS, LA

Nice clean park with all pull through sites, except for the walk in primitive sites on the beach. No sewage hook up and no store. No dog beach. Workers drive around constantly in a loud ATV. Mosquitoes are the worst I have ever seen.
Gregory Bard
I did not expect it to be so nice. Great views from the observation tower, the long fishing pier, and lots of scenery. The drive from New Orleans took slightly less than two hours but was filled with many sights, and views of the water, plus some cute small towns. There were several food options about 1 mile from the park.
Connolly K
Great state park off the beaten track. Water front campsites on the sand for tents, if that's your jam... or grassy green sites with paved driveways for less rustic accommodations. Well maintained and peaceful with friendly park employees!
Caitlin Tondola
Hidden gem! I’ve been visiting New Orleans for years and never thought to venture beyond the city limits. Took less than 2.5 hours to reach the beach! In early June, the water was warm and refreshing. Plenty of space along the beach to not be on top of others, even on a scorching busy weekend!
chronofanz
The drive from New Orleans took about 2.5 hours along U.S. 90 and Louisiana State Route 1. In addition to gas for the rental car, it cost us $3.75 to pay the toll to cross the bridge to Grand Isle, and $3.00 per person to enter the state park. Well worth the drive and cost, the scenery was magnificent, and the park personnel were super friendly.
J Ann Foreman
The park really has nothing more than the towers and camping. The beach is no different than the public beach. It is at the end of the island and the birds can be found in abundance. I dont know what I was expecting, but was not impressed.
Joel Spillman
The State Park is closed to the public, due the damage caused by Hurricane Ida, but my company has been granted special access. Workers are completing repairs to the damaged areas, but for now, there is no public access. The beach is accessable through public "pass throughs" and the fishing pier, near the pass, is also accessable.
Jonathan Rodriguez
We stayed at the beach camp sites. They let us check out the site before paying. The bathrooms/showers were clean and we were able to fish and the kids swam and played. It was an outstanding time. The park is well maintained with plenty of beach access for fishing and 2 peirs. They also have camper and improved camp sites located off the beach.
Vicky Tusken
This small state park is a tucked away gem, out from the Louisiana coast into the Gulf of Mexico. The drive there from any direction will introduce you to the disappearing wetlands as the causeway winds itself to the tiny island. The protected beach is home to a wide array of birds unique to the area, along with lush vegetation. Definitely worth the drive.
Gowri Nataraj
We camped here for 2 nights and all i can say is it was a surreal experience. We camped just in front of the ocean and we had great views. The sunrise was awesome .
Ganesh Mendarkar
Good place for a drive .. very green and peaceful .. well preserved nature . Can circle around the park in jungle and can stop at multiple pint of interest or can take trail .. not bad for the price .. should not take more than 2 hours .. we were lucky to see an alligator soaking in the sun :)
Michael Ferguson (YouTube Michael Ed)
Nice state park to explore. Beach access and a long pier to walk out on for viewing. A few Picnic tables to sit at.
James Hodges
Wow what a view. Very much worth time spent get there. Beautiful views
Tim H
We love this park. Easy in and out for RVs. Friendly staff. Super clean bathrooms and shower areas.
Joni Hitomi
Grand Isle was such a pleasant surprise for us. We love primitive camping and were looking for a nice spot under 2 hours from New Orleans. When I stumbled on Grand Isle through my google searches, I was a little wary considering that most of my experiences with the Gulf of Mexico were not very pleasant. (The beaches on the Mississippi gulf coast have always seemed a little gross to me and always covered in litter.) But we decided to give it a try anyway and I'm so glad we did. There are 14 primitive sites that come with a fire ring and a picnic table. The state park employees obviously spend a lot of time keeping the beach clean and free of litter. It was incredibly beautiful and peaceful on Grand Isle. My favorite part about camping there is how alone you feel. We want to get away from the city and be by ourselves when we camp, so it was really nice to feel like the entire beach was ours. I hate to even write this review because I don't want it to become popular and get crowded ha but it's not fair to not share :) we love GISP and will be back often for sure!
Stephanie Courville
Family tradition. Clean facility. Washateria could be bigger. Safe for my roaming, adventurous kids. Very fair pricing. Nice staff.
Zommy NL
There is a nice inland trail you can walk, the beaches are nice and clean. Many fishing spots along the way. The view from the watchtower is also pretty nice. Plenty of wildlife to see. We saw mostly birds but also some rabbits.
Mark
Wow. The mosquitos are everywhere and they are plentiful! Bring lots of deet or pray for wind. We came in November and a good number of the sites were flooded. Wi-fi is available but so slow it was useless. Free laundry!!
Amy Haag Reitz
We enjoyed our stay at the campground. It is a quiet campground where you can relax by a palm tree right on your own campsite. Short walk over the dunes to the beach. The beach is ok but that is typical of many beaches on the Gulf Ocean - just ok. We did find many shells and sand dollars when we walked the beach each morning. The washers and dryers were handy but bring quarters there is not change machine on site. Also bring your own locally sourced firewood. Camp store does not sell any. We went during off season so the only place we found would was at a grocery store. Drive-thru the Island Daiquiri Bar to enjoy a the campground. If you bring kayaks visit the free kayak launch about a 5 minute drive from the State Pak. We would stay here again.
cherrine miltner
This place is awesome!!! I highly recommend going here and,camping...such tranquility so peaceful...this is the best place to go for some one who loves the ocean loves the, beach loves the, outdoors loves camping...and,a,great place, for fishing, etc
David Allen
Nice little beach park. There is a good nature trail, a tower to view the beach and two nice facilities, one with showers. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Camper hookups available. Had a great time on a winter's morning shooting video and exploring.
Ryan & Chas
This was our very first RV trip.
Not many things could have been better. The beach was nice, water was warm, and dolphins jumping every day.
Only one family arrived late (10pm) and made quite a lot of noise as they were setting up. You will never completely get away from them.
PROS: Dump station, fishing pier, close to beach, wash rooms, perfect distance from town, room for 30 & 40 foot campers, outdoor dish sink, good fishing, good for kids.
CONS: Mosquitoes, dump station.
Anthony Kolesa
This is a really great park. The campsites are well-maintained, and the facilities are very clean and in good condition. I only had a couple of interactions with staff, but they were friendly. My only complaint would be that the check in process was clunky. Not enough of an issue to deduct a star.
Valerie “Valtron_3030” Silva
Not exactly the best place to go if you're wanting to just hang out in the water all day. Great for fishing, & a wonderful place to just walk down the beach. Saw all sorts of wildlife out here during the middle of a gorgeous day, including a ton of little rabbits! I absolutely enjoyed my time walking the beach here.
Lori Fonseca Bennett
Great get away for the day. The park was really in very good shape before the oil spill, but as of 2013 it was still kind of gross and dirty. We had better luck at some of the road side access points, but the bathroom at the park are very convenient.
Slow Momentum
My New go to Spot in Grand Isle...Nice Bug Pull Thru Spots

Always beautiful! Very peaceful and serene, walking trails, fishing and beach combing.
Jessica Delatte
Favorite Place on Earth!! Nice fishing pier.. Great place for Family trip!!
Elsa Anderson
Absolutely beautiful! Campsite is well kept and bathrooms are clean.
Cliff Brock
What a pretty place at the.end of the road. Abour 30 sites. No sewer hook up tho. Not a lot.to do but quiet with walks on the bwaxh.
Ron Gierut
Really neat place to visit. Clean campground. Friendly staff. Spotless bathrooms. Paved pads.
Elsa Anderson
Amazing ocean views! Nice campsites. No-see-ums are bad, so bring bug repellent.
Bradley Mccord
Beautiful Gulf Coast. Beautiful park. Came once for a day and had to come back for a weekend
andrea mclean
RV pads were nice and clean and flat. Both shower houses were gross. Showers were not clean, bathroom wasn't clean. Website said there was a laundry room, but it was locked our entire stay. Couldn't get anyone to open it up for us to use. Path ways to the beach were horrible! They were overgrown with brush and weeds, not to mention the standing water(could have been fixed with sand or gravel). The beach was nice, not crowded and looked like it was fairly clean. The mosquitoes, however, were another story altogether. Couldn't sit outside and enjoy a fire or anything bc you would literally get eaten alive. If you stay here take plenty of bug spray and wear long sleeves and pants!
Jennifer Barnes
Great park, people and beach. Wish we had better weather do fishing.
Josh Tyler
Loved the beach camping can't wait to come back!
김정숙
Amazing!!!!
Sun rise like a creation of natural beauty
Fishing swimming camping etc ..
David Sharrard
This was our second visit here. Gorgeous. The only complaint is that there are no full hookups for RVs.
Robert Caldwell
Very cool place first time to see the ocean

Had fun ....long walk to camp site
Sydney Rubinstein
I had an amazing camping trip at this beautiful beach! It is very clean and remote. The camping site is perfect. Each site comes with a picnic table, fire pit, and garbage cans. There was just enough space between each site. Bathrooms were so clean i was amazed! Clean toilets, showers, soap, toilet paper- awesome. We saw many least turn birds which are native to the area. We even went for swim although the day was a little chilly. We could see the sunrise from our tent which was gorgeous. I can’t wait to go back!
Lee LeGrande
Grand Isle is one of my favorite places. The park is a really nice starting point if you plan on doing some kayak fishing. I hope recovery from Ida goes well and happens soon.
Jacob Golding
Great venue for a family trip. There is a toll road on the way in and a fee for entry. They offer military discount for those veterans out there. We had a couple hours of non stop family fun in the water. Then we went on a good long walk. There are lots of local places to eat and a little grocery store for those that are camping and need a few more snacks and such. Roads are in great condition, much better than they are in the city.
Carrie Stillson
Beautiful, very clean. Tons of ocean life.
Les Achord
Only rated 3 because it's still closed. I've been before with my boys and had a good time. Please rebuild and reopen. When it is open, everyone should visit.
Steff Place
Park host was kind and informative. Day use area was clean and quiet. Not too crowded.
A Plicqu
This place makes me almost want to camp out in a tent or rent an RV. At this park, which costs next to nothing to use daily, somewhere around three or four dollars per car and nothing if you walk in, there is a giant, elevated washer/dryer, shower, bathroom complex or two for the area.
The bathroom/washing complex is always clean. It's a delight to use.
There are lookout towers for the binocular obsessed (me) and kids who want to get up high of all ages and boardwalks/fishing areas.
Be careful. This is a beach for firebugs (me!). Bring your own wood and you can build a fire! What a thrill!
Plenty of parking. Most folks come for a few hours or the day. People there are peaceful and pleasant. Your bones and troubles will melt.
They'll have to scoop you up to get you out!
Too relaxing!
Cat Thompson
Very peaceful beach. Was here for a q50 race and head a wonderful time!
William Stephan
Clean, well run. Camping sites large, level, and paved. Laundry room on site. Beach is fantastic, great nature hikes, fishing pier is a treat to get out there, see pelicans fly by. There is a small crabbing pier where pelicans, blue herons hang out. Mobility issues? This the place for you to try. Excellent experience, I promise!

Clean park.nice sites and the BEACH😍 …
Megan Wicks
Absolutely beautiful place to camp! Perfect beach for running because it was very packed in.
Curtis Cunningham
A really nice little gem tucked away in Southeast Louisiana. The park is very well maintained, clean, grass cut, and the staff we met were very nice, polite, professional, and helpful. There are several educational placards that explain the geology, geography, and the development of the area without overwhelming you with 'too much information'. They have a rustic tent camping area on the beach, an area with trailer hookups, and a day visitor beach option with a pier for fishing. All three areas have a nice boardwalk over the dunes to protect the dunes from foot traffic erosion. There are some trails for birders, hikers, etc. No, it is not like Yellowstone and the sand is not like Pensacola, Fla., but it offers a nice excursion. Also, it is free entry for seniors. Thank-you!
Laurie Mclean
The GISP website lists ice and Laundry. Ice machine hasn't been fixed or working since the last hurricane hit. Laundry was locked and inaccessible the entire time we were here. Mosquitoes were so bad, you couldn't go down to the beach area without getting attacked by swarms. We literally had 10 mosquitoes on our legs within seconds of stepping out of our trailers. There were so many areas with marshy standing water, just breeding mosquitoes. In GISP defense, it's an island in marshland, so we did prepare for mosquitoes, but even regular campers said it was ridiculous. The hounds are kept up nicely. Grass cut and weed whacked several times while we were here. The camper sites were very large, clean, level, asphalt. Very nice. Water and electric hook-ups 30 & 50 amp. GISP did attempt to spray to keep the mosquito population down, but it's like using an aerosol can of yard guard for acres of coverage. The campers we encountered made the stay memorable! So friendly and eager to share their knowledge of fishing, crabbing, cooking, and camping. Best part of camping is making memories with family, friends, and making new acquaintances.
Bill Stringfellow
This is a very nice park. The small campground was nice and saw some nice trails but did not have time to walk any of them. Nice breeze off the Gulf the while time I was there. Plus - visitors over 62 get in free!
Lorenzo Telleria
Water and beach was clean and nice!! I was able to swim about 100 yards parallel to the pier but at the same level of the rock levy and the dolphins were checking me out!! I could smell them!!! Later the bugs made us go away, but what an amazing experience!!
Casey Callais
Always clean and a great place to visit.

Loved how beautiful it is here! We had the best time.

We tent camped on the beach. The beach was beautiful, it was super clean and well-maintained, and the bathrooms were meticulously clean- which is impressive for a beach campground! My only complaints about the place relate more to the natural environment than the facilities. We stayed for four days, three nights, and as we are from VA and aren’t familiar with the area, were unprepared for the daily storms rolling in from the Gulf. The sand grains on the beach are so very fine that each time the wind blew, the sand case in through every screen in our tent. I woke up every morning covered in sand, and sand was in every crack of everything we packed. If tent camping here, I strongly recommend packing everything you have in plastic storage bins. Also keep in mind that it’s a bit of a hike down to the beach from the car, so try to pack lightly. Bring Deep Woods bug spray- the mosquitos were swarming worse than I’ve ever seen anywhere. They do seem to be aware of this issue, as a truck drove down the beach spraying each afternoon. Fire ants were also a problem- they ate holes in the bottom of our tent and got into the food supply. Again, plastic storage bins would ameliorate this situation. If traveling with kids, pack plenty of food- there’s nowhere to really eat on the island. Overall it was a nice place though.
Tracy Frost
Spent from April 24th-May 8th here, loved it. It was clean, well kept, and awesome location. The fire ants were a bit of an issue, but sprayed and was ok. Skeeters where a bit of an issue sometimes but the fogged the campground regularly. Loved Grand Isle, will definitely go back again someday.
Captain David Rogers
The camping area is very nice. Sadly the beach and restroom facilities need some love. Trash was all over the beach. Do not understand why people would leave trash like that. The restrooms were dirty and the showers were worse. Please Louisana Parks get down here and fix it.
Tanar Guild
This was a neat state park that over looks the gulf. There is a lot of garbage on the beach. Two whole bags of garbage were torn open and plastic bottle were everywhere near the overlook tower. Maybe they should get some prisoners out here to do some public service. And use the $6 to make this a better state park.
James Erickson
Great park with friendly and helpful staff! The amenities are very nice and cleaned daily. Love the free laundry! They also have nice bathhouses with decent to good water pressure. For the fishermen (like myself) they have a good fish cleaning station, good fishing from the big pier, good beach fishing, and lots of nearby places to fish!
Anna
Beautiful beach. You can hear the waves from the campground.
Steven Green
This is a nice park, however it could be better. 50 amp plug was loose in the pedestal, mentioned it to the camp host and he said the park did not have a maintenance guy and alot of things needed done. They have tent camping allowed in rv sites so they put the tents in the grass right next to you and there goes you're privacy. Other than being attacked by very fierce mosquitoes twice a day it was ok.
Jerome Holmes
Beautiful state park on the only barrier reef island in Louisiana.
Amelia Marek
Grand Isle State park is a nice place to stay. The sites are nice and big. You have water and electric. No sewer but a sewer dump. So you can dump before or after. Bathrooms that are clean and showers that are huge. The beach is right there. Can't be any closer. Have tent camping on the beach. Also have rentable awesome tents to rent. There are trails. Lots of nature. Would highly recommend, don't pass it up. We loved it. Very good security. Local police patrols. Lots of local convinced. Great restaurants.
Jessica Zink
It was pretty but the pier for fishing and the visitor center were the best parts of it. The beach was ok but me and my husband are staying up the isle at blue dolphin inn and the beach in front of it was a lot better. If your fishing or want info about the isle I definitely recommend.
LAURA MARTINEZ
Very beautiful park. You can stroll the beach, camp by the shore, fish on the piers, and so on.
Debbie P
Love, love, love it here. I was there in March. It was perfect!
Rochelle Crow
Nice beach. Although no dogs are allowed so we spend most of the time on the public beach one mile down the road where dogs are welcome. Nice showers, decent price. Great food at Joe Bob's. Interesting place, glad we discovered the area!
Barbara Bartmann
If you make the effort to go to Grand Isle, you must visit the Grand Isle State Park. There is a fee, but if you are over 62, it's free. The Boardwalk out to the Gulf is beautiful. There are also stairs down that will direct you to a trail that takes you onto the beach and access to the water. This is a beautiful setting for pictures and a little fun on the beach.
Jeff N
Visited in late Feb. and tent camped in the main campground. Campground was clean with an ongoing maintenance presence through the day. Free laundry room was nice as we got some rainy weather and it was nice to dry out. Washrooms and showers were clean.
There was lots of beach although we didn't make much use of it.
The fishing pier is a bit of a joke....while it may be 200' long it may jut about 20 feet into the water.
Staff weren't very helpful with local info or recommendations and the park has some goofy rules when we went to book for a few more nights.....seemed like it could have run a bit smoother.
matthew farrell
We had such a great time @ Grand Isle State Park!! We spent 5 days over this past Memorial Day weekend and wished we could have stayed longer. Bath houses are immaculate as far as cleanliness, and the ac felt wonderful!! Awesome group of people that work within the park and met some great campers. We camped in a tent, lot #3, not along the beach, and had no issues. The mosquito's are a given, since this park does have lagoons and marshy areas. Just be prepared to bring plenty of repellent and you will be fine. Plus, the park does spray right before night fall. Looking forward to our stay next year!!!
James Lankford
Our short visit here was very nice, not overly crowded at all. There's not a lot to do here except enjoy the beach and there's not really much shopping available either. Many folks here had their own pull-behind carts for taking their stuff to the beach with them which is probably a good quarter-mile walk from where you park.
Debbie Gros
The staff was so nice, welcoming and friendly. The road to the lagoon was flooded due to the heavy rains but our campsite, no. 2, was dry. The sites are pull thru, concrete, level. There's a picnic table and fire pit. Right now the breeze is blowing and it's so quiet we have our windows open. We went crabbing on side the street. Didn't catch much but had a great, relaxing afternoon. The campground has some beautiful palm trees but the sites are not woodsy by any means. The sites aren't extremely tight and are a comfortable distance apart. We're really enjoying our evening here and not looking forward to leaving tomorrow.
Justin Finley
The base is great. Very clean. However the amount of rules that they have and regulations for this beach makes it where you're not really able to do much here except for pretty much just swimming. It is beautiful however so four out of five stars
dorothy jarry
absolutely a wonderful park. Get spaces on the end for more room, some spaces are tight and dogs are required a 6 ft lead at all times, not allowed on beach, but allowed on piers and nature trails. Laundry and bathhouse a clean and very nice. Worth the trip!!!
Jray
Nicely put together/ informative, great access to beach, dolphins out in front of boardwalk
Bayou Bill
The friendly rangers and personnel. The accommodations were clean and acceptable. Clean very very clean. Icing on the cake was I celebrated my 62nd birthday two days prior and was given an all-day pass for my wife and myself. Definitely would refer to family and friends. God bless and keep up the good work 💪 …

Very good place to sit and relax.nice waves and lot of birds
Jane Waterman and George Nash
Small and quiet. A great place to do a lot of nothing. Large expansive beach. Both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Fairly short, maybe a mile and a half walking path around the Lagoon that is not accessible during high tide. Free laundry with two washers two dryers and fairly good showers, no sewer hook up and no other amenities. If you're looking for a lot to do don't come here. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place..
Lyle Burkhardt
A nice little park to camp and especially fish. Speckled trout are right off the beach and can easily be surf fished. The facilities were clean and seemed updated. The beach itself isn't a traditional "beach", meaning it's kind of dirty looking. There's a small hiking trail. All in all it was a good experience but nothing to really get super excited about.
Linda Gessaman
This was a great park. I visited off-season. I stayed three days on the beach and it was beautiful. The people who worked at the park were friendly. The woman at the main entrance warned me about the mosquitoes before entering. Thank goodness she did so I could be prepared. The view at night was almost too much for this city girl. The wind and the sound of the waves were captivating. I plan on visiting again. I am from Buffalo, Illinois.
P.s. The beach house with bathrooms and showers were immaculate!
Trickie Luv
Wonderful beach! Really set up for fisherman!!!! Bring your gear & have a ball
Jennifer Baker
Beautiful beaches and clean facilities. We had the whole beach to ourselves.
J H
Great location... BUT...
1. There are only 2 bathrooms, one at each end of the row of approx 40 sites.... if you plan on using the bathrooms/showers, be careful to when you pick your site... even the sites closest are still a bit of a "hike". Also, because of potential flooding, they are built on "stilts"... may be difficult for some to access even with the ramps as to me they looked pretty steep!
2. Dogs not allowed on beach.... such a stupid rule... humans make far more mess (saw lots of garbage on the beach) than dogs. Should provide doggy bags and proper garbage pails ...99% of dog owners are responsible...and many will pickup another dog's dodo if there are bags available!!!
John Bailey
Grand Isle State Park was a beautiful and very clean Park to take your children and also it was very peaceful and quiet the people there are very considerate of everything that you need and are there to help you when you need them. Be ready for a long drive to get there. The park is all the way down on the coast of Louisiana at the end of Highway 1. You will enjoy yourself walking the beach and playing in the surf also there is plenty of fishing and crabbing in the Gulf of Mexico. The price is reasonable at $30 a night or your stay there is plenty of water hookups for RVs and plenty of room for primitive camping or tent camping. There are bathhouses to take a shower up and down the beach and sewage dump for the RVs.A short drive to town gives different places you can eat and shop all along the island.Enjoy yourself this is a wonderful place to go visit.
Sara-Doug Anderson
Nice park. No beach access for the puppers. Beach was black sand and not very well kept. Advise you have a good AC on your rig. The only reason I will not give five stars is the beach issue. Our pets are our family where we go they go.
Katrina Middlebrooks
You can't drive on the beach anymore but it's still nice.
Maggie Belk-Cole
Took a quick spring break here. Absolutely perfect quick family trip to Gulf of Mexico.
River Valley Weather
Omg... If you have not been here, your missing out. Its been my second time here and its was amazing. We got there and we walked up the boardwalk and there was a tower and it was an amazing view of the coast. I got some really good pictures. They have clean restrooms to change in, but they only have an outdoor shower, which could be understandable in some way. We walked down the pier and there is a place to get to the beach from the pier and it is a good place to get some pictures. The sand was amazing even though it rained the night before. It was 80 degrees and the water temp was about 74 degrees. And this was on March 19 btw. My family and I had a lot of fun playing in the water and the sand. I didnt have to deal with any marine life, but there was a lot of seaguls. The camp sites looked really nice when we passed them, the all had palm trees, but you can't see the beach because of the trees and brush. It dosent sound like a dream resort, but I do recommend coming because once you get out here. You will know what I mean. And you won't brake the bank.
Jacob Hangen
Such a cool, unique beach town! We enjoyed the beach but were expecting a softer white sand beach; the water is a little dirty.
Jake Allgeier
Everyone said not to have high hopes, but this park is beautiful. The ocean is very accessible and there were many dolphins to be seen. I wish the horizon wasn't dotted with oil rigs, but I will gladly return.
angela watson
Great sites. Long pull through. Water & electric-30 & 50 amps. Dump station different location. Picnic table, fire ring, trash barrels, grass. Pricey for a state park. $34. Walk 2 the beach. Very nice & well maintained
Sanket Lopes
Unless you are fishing, this place is just OK. Doesn't seem any different form bunch of other beaches. There is nothing scenic, that stands out at this place. The wooden structure is something different but other than that there is noting much to it.
If you just want to have a check mark on your list go do it. But I will not recommend this place.
Kathy Weber
We just happen to come here to check it out for a day or two and ended up staying a week. What a great place. We loved the nice big sites, nice clean and well kept grounds. Close to the ocean with nice walk out pier and observation tower. Then to top it all off they offer free laundry machines for guest to use. We will definitely be back.
Les Wall
Love this park have been here 4 times and going back again this November. Very clean, beach is nice, would be perfect if it had sewer hook ups and you could see the beach from the campsite. But understand the dunes make a lot of protection.
James Lowther
Really amazing park. You go to Grand Isle and see all these little parks with just shell and dirt. We booked Grand Isle State Park a while back knowing we would be there in June and it would be packed. Grand Isle State Park is grass and asphalt that is very well done. It’s a beautiful park right next to the beach and has large sites. I’ve been going to Grand Isle for 25 years and actually had never been to the state park. This is the place to go. You have to make sure you have a spot here!
Juan karlo Randolph
We went to the park on a day trip. Make sure to go to the furthest pavilion and not the one for campers. The campers pavilion has exclusive bathrooms and fewer tables to eat.
Otherwise the terrain was nice. Not sure if you can swim here usually but there was a caution against swimming when we were there.
Larry Henry
When we visited GI, there was a health alert for the water. The water was warm and the beach shallow. The sand crabs and hermit crabs were abundant that day. It is beautiful and a great place to relax.
Karen Luckett
Nice very clean and family friendly. LOVE it and it's soo peaceful. The sound of the water is relaxing.
Jan Freeberg
Lovely even on an extremely cold day!
William Willemstyn III
Awesome park! Beautiful island filled with friendly people. You can tent camp on the beach, just watch the forecast. The fresh seafood you can catch/buy/share is the best! Stay got a while and make friends of you ever can.
Karen Lane
Beautiful setting with grassy spaces and palm trees between each paved site. Walk over a dune and you are on a protected beach; no 4wheelers running around. Abundance of birds and wildlife. Would be a 5 if it had sewer hook up.
malay kumar Sett
Very nice to visit, you can swim at your own risk as sea creatures like stingray fish are found in the shallow water..coastguard are not readily available but 911 can come for any issue within 5 min
Z
Nice spot for shore or pier fishing, there are huge tuna fish right underneath, and a good location for camping and natural shore relaxing. Please note, there wer several grease and curd oil residue along the shore.
If you are into canoeing, it is a not bad at all there, especially for beginners (of course under supervision of a professional instructor).
Additionally, I would suggest anyone who is planning or want to visit there to bring all your equipments and tools, grab some food, drinks and ice before heading there.
Rebecca Batts
Beautiful park on the Ocean with a beach the walking trail was only thing I would say needs improvement because we wanted to the bridge but right before the bridge it was under water up to our knees. But trail was really neat with crab thousand of them running in front if us
Leslye Robinson
Drive all the way to the end of Louisiana 1 and there you are. The restroom and shower facilities for camping are very nice and the beach itself is clean and inviting. One of the great advantages is easy access to restaurants and stores.
Hosseinali Sahebekhtiari
This park was amazing. There are not much stuff to do but the view is so amazing. It is so bautiful. If you like nature and like to meditate in nature this is the place to be. Very calm and remote. It is very nice. I totally recommend this park. Very clean.
Mary Brackett
Beautiful views! I loved all of the different birds we got to see. I can't wait to come back during the Wildlife Festival to see the migratory birds come through.
Michael Allen
We come here every year. They keep the grass cut and no trash. Bath houses are very clean and they have 2 washers and dryers so we can do laundry while there free of charge. We do a lot of crabbing and fishing. Elmors island is right up the road it's a big beach area that you can drive in on and park right on the water. There is a curfew for Elmors island of daylight to dark. I highly recommend this place to all looking for a great getaway.
Gaynell Michel
This is my happy place! We always park our RV at Bridgeside. Great fishing, crabbing, shrimping - a real sportsman's paradise!
Not to mention swimming in the Gulf!
Fun for the whole family!
Mariusz Z
This a awesome place. Beach on the Gulf Of Mexico. Access fee is only $2 person. Bathhouses are extremely clean with showed and ac. Quiet place. Not to many people. Great for enjoying time and chill out. Love it!
Nancy Desoto
Really enjoyed my stay at this park. It would be nice to have sewer hook up at the camp site. The camp host (Rhonda) was very nice and cared about the campground and it's appearance. She kept the grounds cleaned.
Daniil Gerasimov
It's alright place to visit. If you're into swimming or fishing you'll have fun. Beside that there is not much more to do.
River Smith
The most beautiful State Park that I've visited in a very long time. The beach is wonderful and clean, the grass is always cut and the bath houses are pristine. I would definitely camp here with my family again!!!
Theresa Ornoff
We camped in a TT for a week in Grand Isle State Park at the beginning of March. The park showers and restrooms are the cleanest that I have ever encountered. They offer laundry facilities and wifi.
Jozy Tanguay
Beach is dirty and far feom the state park but you can fish and fish crab in the area. Cute place. We met people that called it the end of the earth. And it really is. The bridge experience makes the stay at state park even better.
Jonathan Bailey
A wonderful find. RV site have water and electricity. Dump station on site. Great showers. Free laundry. Free wlfl. Spacious sites with grass and Palm trees between. Quiet! Good fishing from beach or pier. Nice little town. Surprisingly good grocery. Other-worldly drive down....
Henry Walker
Nice campground good fishing at the beach
Betty Barran
My first time in Grand Isle and we were swimming with dolphins! They swam past the jetties and close to us. My kids loved the hermit crabs and my husband caught a huge redfish!
Kristin Keeler
This place used to be great, it has gone downhill in recent years. The beach isn't as clean as it used to be and restroom facilities work , but water pressure is low and showers are falling apart. Price of admission has increased.
Steve Miceli
Very good campground. Great birding area.
Debbie Kenney
Nice and clean, with beautiful landscaping. Bath house, laundry, Wi-Fi. Right on The Gulf. We stayed about six days. Enjoyed it. No sewer.
Robert Sparks
Grand Isle State Park makes for an excellent home base for fishing the bay and the marshes along highway one. They have rv camping spots with running water and electricity as well as primitive camping on the beach. Ammenities include air conditioned bathrooms, showers with hot water, laundry rooms, and sinks for cleaning up your camp dishes. The campgrounds are kept clean but they aren't very well lit, so take a flashlight for walking to the bathrooms or the beach at night.
Morgan Plan
Very nice. Me and my family had such a great time here it's the perfect vibe & even though they had dead catfish, dead crabs and a couple dead birds, it was awesome!
Zombag Gam-R (Peavy09)
Great way to experience Grand Isle. Multiple places to fish. It is gated and monitored by wildlife officials.
Camp sites are will kept and have water and electricity. Beaches are trash and glass free.
Frisbee Fanatic
Dude! This place has excellent facilities gorgeous views and clean park. Fishing was awesome, caught shark and drum!
racistclown 42
This is a place of dreams for Louisiana people. It's like a whole new world down there. It's beautiful with palm trees, colorful houses on stilts, and the beach. Omg. Everything's pretty expensive but worth the visit. The park most times at the rv part is 30 a night unless it's like summer then they jack it up for tourist. They have air conditioning in the bathroom/showers. That's right they have showers. And rhe beach is right over the levee. It's beautiful and salty. Bring sun screen. I found that out.
Austin Daigle
2nd time here its amazing... The views are gorgeous.
Lex Bubble
Great place to find shells. Beach is a little dirty, and the mosquito's are really bad in the parking lot. Says its wheelchair accessible all the way to the beach.... it is NOT!
Less
Camped here it was fun, beach not so much. Walking on the beach I spotted many dead animals and this made me change my mind about going for a swim. All in all camp but don't trust the water.
Don Kennon
Interesting little park at the end of Grand Isle. Pier & camping area. I've never seen so many morning doves & other wildlife. The visit can be a nice break from the beach.
Kristin Isenberg
Nice beach, great facilities!
Vina Sullivan
Rv parking is excellent, roomy, flat, and paved. Free and clean laundry area, but had to climb about 20 steps with the laundry basket. Only real downside for me is the wifi. We could access yahoo, but nothing else, including email and Facebook
Sherry Green
It takes a while to get to Grand Isle, but for a small fee, you can go to the beach and have fun. The sand isn't sugary white like Florida, but it's still the beach!
Rhonda Lewis (Babygirl)
I have never been camping..it was nice! We stayed in a tent in #8 with electric and water...we went to the beach..Nice...the bathrooms and showers were clean and nice. We fished did catch anything..seen a lot of crawfish....this place is awesome
Daijin Evanson
It was quiet beautiful and I love the sound of the waves just washing up on each other and I had seen 2 jellyfish on the beach and dolphins we're playing in the water
Surbhi gupta
I loved the view and the facilities in grand isle state park. I was surprised seeing the clean restrooms, they were much better than the ones on some of airports. 😉😉 …
Pamila Bayless
This is a great place to stay because the staff is awesome they have the perfect southern hospitality u want when ur away from home for instance my friend and I got locked out of the campground because we stayed out to late (1am) and we had to call them they were so nice even though we clearly woke them up they step by step helped us get to our campsite we were not drunk just tired lol the tent sites we stayed in were directly on the beach 🌴 its a very clean beach and very calm the bath house was awesome and clean and always had toilet paper 😊 the only problem I had was the boats made noise all day and night the ocean couldn't even drown them out 😧 but in the end this is a great place to have a fun vacation 💞💞💞💞
Ingham West
Cool park for its location, but nothing stood out as overly special or beautiful. Picnic tables on the beach were handy and the four story tall look out tower was worth exploring.
Mrs. A
Only downside is the camping shower/bath house. Not enough toilet paper and always dirty. Otherwise beautiful scenery.
Walt davis
Awesome park....but the camp host are nosey! Watch you like a hawk assuming you are a rule breaker....we had a medeal detector at camp...was told by host that we are not sllowed to have it on the beach! Complete invaision of privicy snd respect! I will however go back every year as grand isle is just that great!
connie cline
Friendly people lovely scenery nice fishing nice camping
Michelle Santiny
Air conditioned restrooms and showers (awesome after a day on the beach). Camp ground is beautiful. Fishing pier is the best!
SamuraiNola2021
Went there for the day and had a great time. The beach was beautiful and it was not crowded at all
Cathy Hull
It's a long drive from New Orleans, but very few people on a Thursday. Mostly clean although the water was murky, which must be a Gulf thing.
Nitabby Nelson
It was nice but you have to carry all your stuff to the beach and that's a lil walk.
brian cavalier
Good place for nature lovers and people who love to fish, crab, etc....has a great abundance of wildflowers and birds.
Emili Sarver
Beautiful little park. Only $3 per person to enter. The only downside is how much garbage was on the beach, even though there are several trash cans around.
Joe Shmoe
The drive out to the park seems long but it is very scenic. Park is beautiful and peaceful. Great place to take a nap in the sun and listen to the waves.
Ryan Parks
Nice observation tower & pier to view the ocean. Not a lot of beach, but it was accessible to walk, fish, camp or whatever.
Lynette Mosley
A nice place to enjoy. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets. Even saw some dolphins beyond the jet ties. Would go back in a heartbeat .

Curtis Shaffer
,30 min visit at pier, 4 people, $12. Beautiful island view, ample parking, rest facilities
Alex Courville
They had New Management right when we got here so everything was a little behind but they picked everything up as quickly as possible and it's back running like a machine
hak1985org
Super clean--a rarity in the south and almost non-existant in Louisiana. Fantastic RV parking. Would gladly endure the terrible drive in again just to stay at this hidden gem!
Ronald Robinson
As Workers we understand it’s not just about a pay check but about image , having customers come there have a great experience and leave with good things to say about the park , taking pride in the park we represent!!!!!
Kathryn Baxter
Both the beach and the bathrooms were spotless on my visit. I know that has been a complaint but not for me. Could be because it is the end of summer.
