I love Cumberland Falls!!! I didn't stay at the campground, but have stopped by twice this past month. It's a nice break as I travel up and down I-75 between Ohio and Tennessee every other week. The falls are beautiful and for this side of 'the world' they are HUGE and there is ALWAYS tons of water - Go There - you won't be disappointed!!!

We stayed at site 49 and it is your best option for any privacy. Sites 40-47 have water & electric and are close to the bath house but the sites are right on top of each other. Site 49 is down from the Pavillion and much more secluded. Site 50 was right off the parking lot - would not recommend. The bathrooms were very clean. On our last day, a guy came around warning about a bear that roams the campsite and reminded us to be aware - will bring some bear spray next time.

pros: staff, hosts, other campers, cleanliness, proximity to the falls, reasonable prices of store items (no price gauging)
cons: site size (zero space between sites- thankfully, we had fabulous neighbors😊) and placement (single road w/ straight back-in instead of angled)
I think these may have primarily been tent camping sites, and they've turned some of them into small RV/trailer sites, which could explain some of the cons. Overall, a sweet little campground.

Absolutely beautiful! My family and I loved the campground! Lots of space lots of plugs bathroom super close the shower was great! On the other side of the campground is bigger bathrooms washer and dryer a little store ice almost everything you would need! Dollar general is about ten minutes away we didn't drive more than half hour for kroger or walmart! You can hike to the falls from the side we were on! New to the area so didn't know all the swimming areas but all in all a great time camping we will definitely go back again!

Nice little campground . Small sites, but laid back atmosphere. Very hot and muggy in early july

The ridgeline campground is essentially just a street where people are allowed to camp. The sites are extremely close together and small. The fire rings are not mobile and ours was stuck next to the shared water spigot and electricity box. This is also where our neighbor parked his truck...our fire and chairs were less than 3 feet from it. You WILL NEED extra long extension cords and hoses to be able to hook up an RV here. Sites are gravel and do not get muddy, this is a plus.
The camp store was closed, no check in or check out services, and no where to buy anything you may have forgotten. Only a camp host was available to sell ice and wood which was exact cash only. Bundles of wood were $8 for large, $6 for small. We used 4 large bundles over our 2 night stay; not all of the wood burned well and smoked excessively.
The bathrooms were mostly clean, hot water available for showers, but the bathroom did not get restocked with paper towels or hand soap. Both were out for a full day.
Overall this campground has no privacy at all and I would not recommend it for large campers as most people struggled to maneuver in the tiny "campground"

The Ridgeline Campground is the better of the 2 camping areas that we visited before deciding to stay. For the most part the sites are small & seem to be geared toward small campers. We did find a few larger spots more suitable to tent camping (thats us) TG19 & TG20. These are at the farthest end of the loop & farthest away from the restrooms/ bathhouse. Both are also down hill slightly, so if you're tent camping , you will have to lug your belongings around. Both also have water & electric available, as well as a small pad for a camper & plenty of parking. These sites say they're for parties up to 16 people. Sites 1-8 get you close to restrooms etc, but 7 has little tree cover for shade. There is also a well stocked teeny camp store. I've included images of our site TG20 (4)&then TG19 (5) for reference.

This was quite the experience getting to stay here! There were plenty of available tent areas for first come first serve camping. We found out if you book online, the tent sites are $28 but first come first serve is only $25. We decided to chance it and see what they had! We had like nine places to pick from when we arrived and the staff was super awesome! They were very friendly and informative about the area and had plenty of suggestions to help us decide what we were going to do! We ended up spending a day at Lake Cumberland Falls and another day at Dog Slaughter Falls! As for the camping sight, it was clean, mowed, the bathrooms were nice and they had showers (slightly gross, but super convenient to have!). The tent sights seem a bit small, bit it accommodated our two tents just fine. All in all, we will most definitely be back to stay here again in the future!!!
Katie Kramer
The falls are very dirty, brown water. The park is trashy from the river wash up along the stream. I think somebody should be in charge of cleaning up the park.
Cory Obarr
Awesome park! A beautiful waterfall very close to the parking area. Has a cool little beach area you can go down to even though swimming is not allowed. Definitely worth stopping and seeing the beautiful waterfall though
Jason Redden
Camped here for three days & had a great time. Actually got to see the lunar rainbow the night before the full moon. It was so awesome & beautiful. My only complaint is that our tent site was nothing but rocky ground so a good night's sleep was out of the question, even with a comforter, camping pads & sleeping bags in between. The lunar rainbow made it worth the discomfort though
Stephen Norris
Beautiful trails. Lots of places to explore. This was a great place to visit and to camp. The walk to the falls is not very far at all. Just over a mile.
Chris Smith
Nice campground close to the falls. I have a small 12 foot camper, so space was not an issue. Bathrooms could have been cleaner, but our trip was last year and they seemed to ve a little short staffed still.
Amanda Lynn
My mom and I stayed here last year, need to post a review, then will update in August, because we are going back we loved it so much. We stayed at T3 other than TG20, is one of the nicest spots there. To start my mom and I haven’t been camping in over 2 decades so we were winging it, but the camp host has got your back, you need absolutely anything and she’s there. We forgot a hammer to set the spikes, she lent us one. It is true what they say that the sites are a bit close together, but this wasn’t a problem as everyone was so neighborly and friendly. Being during COVID masks weren’t stressed at all which was nice. When the store is open, (don’t expect it to be open during said time) they have a little bit of anything you might need, even ice. The bathrooms and showers are nice and air conditioned and super clean.
Greg Lynn
Absolutely breathtaking... a must go, so much to do inside the park, great campground... highly recommend!!!
Acoustic Life
Very beautiful place.. hiking, fishing, swimming, exploring or just eating at the Lodge!!!
If you are lucky enough to be here on the first Friday of each month, come out to the FOP Building and listen to some great local Bluegrass music
Sonja K
Gorgeous views and if you're willing to take a short hike an amazing beach
Jason Lasee
tent sites were nice and separated. The small camper sites seemed a bit packed in - but that's only what I saw driving through that section.
Sue Ferrell
The falls are beautiful. The campground spaces are very small. Our 25ft barely fit after 1 HR of trying to park. Tail was as far back as it could go and the hitch was in the road.
Tyja Sullivan
Loved the Falls and all the scenic places for photos! Absolutely had the greatest time horseback riding. The owners and family were awesome to talk to and it was the highlight for my son. We will return any time we are back at the Falls!
Deanne Krome
Awesome scenery!!!!
Love the waterfall and how close we can get to it.. Had a Rainbow and took awesome pictures
Linda Byce
I Love a good Adventure and this place definitely delivers!!
Joshua Wichers
What a great little campground. And so close to one of the most amazing natural wonders on the planet. Found the area by accident, and so glad we did. Can't wait to come back when we can stay longer and explore more.
Luke Hendrix
The campsites were a little too close together, and the parking was difficult and sparse. But the bathrooms were clean and well kept. And there's a nice hike from the campground to the falls.
Jonathan Reis
Cumberland falls is such a great place to hang out with the family, camp, and go hiking. It's been about 15 years since the last time I visited the area and it's still an amazing time!!
Barbie Lee
The grounds is nice, there's plenty around to take in,the people and atmosphere is impressive
Leslie Robinson
This is an amazing park. Clean bath house and restrooms. We were in site 9- the worst site unfortunately. The security light DIRECTLY above the fire ring is not just bright as daylight but insanely loud. Not a hum or buzz but a mind numbing annoying raucous noise that makes our favorite part of camping - sitting around the fire- more like a torture test- how long before you go crazy. This site is directly across from the dump station and the dumpster. So avoid. Should not be listed at the same rate as the other sites that enjoy starlight, and peace and quiet. We requested to transfer to another site, but there were none open. The attendant said maintenance would look at the light but it is still on and screaming 2 days later.
Beautiful park with awesome trails- but site 9 is a nightmare.
Kacie Bott
While we had a nice time this place could defiantly use some updates. Campsites are SUPER cramped essentially a one way road with sites on both sides. I camped here as a child over 20 years ago and there have been zero updates in that time frame....
Kelly Glover
Beautiful. Handicap accessible for those with scooters and wheelchairs.
Erin Hulsey
Our campsite was so small, 46. We were on the Clifty side and it's on the edge of a... cliff. Select 40 -45 for slightly larger sites. Close to the pool, which was super nice. The lack of space in our site and room for kids to run will be the reasons we don't return. Bathrooms were 2 star at best. Kids had fun on playground.
Somer Shade
Had a great time camping, hiking, eating at lodge, swimming and horses.
Nicole and Joe McKinney
This is one of our favorite places on earth, the trails & landforms are terrific. We have camped here several years in a row, so believe me when I say this time was terribly disappointing.
We have a preferred site- important because the quality of sites varies wildly, most sites being stacked on top of each other, which you can see from the reservation map. This was the last week the campground was open, and although the personnel who were present were very nice, where were they? Were pretty much all the workers gone for the season? Despite the fact that the campground was full to capacity both weekends during our stay, the store/check in would go entire days without opening! Hours were not posted because they were very sporadic. Bathhouses are brand new- year & a half old- but they were cleaned every few days and by cleaned I do not mean cleaned. Just empty the overflowing trash, lightly swept. Not mopped. Ever. Men's bathroom was worse, and was out of soap for the last 8 days. The family bathrooms, which are gorgeous, were unstocked and not tended. I didn't feel comfortable using them after the second day. The host never seemed to leave their site, didn't even wave back when we passed them, much less make the rounds near our site.
Website says campground is open into November, but that's not the case, reservations are not allowed. The answer given is that the water lines might freeze, but in the past we have been able to camp on those dates. I really suspect that adequate manpower wasn't in the budget, despite a robust stream of campers, and full to capacity right to check out on the last day.

Down by the sand area ppl just leave there trash don't even have the courtesy to clean up after themselves, we did ride horses & he mining for gems👀😁 that was a fun activitie …

This review is for tent camping in Clifty Campground sites 40-47. Some comments/issues will apply to the other sites, while others won't.
Pros - great staff, hiking, cleanliness, pool availability, gravel site mean no mud (see cons), water and electric access at site, wifi available at site
Cons - sites are quite small and literally right next to each other, gravel sites are a pain if tent-camping, no cell service (will obviously vary by provider), vehicle noises from main road.
Depending on what kind of experience you're use to and looking for, the sites at the campground might not be for you. As mentioned, they are tiny, with a couple exceptions. Usually this wouldn't be a huge problem, but they are also right next to each other, separated only by a small fence. There is no privacy and no feeling like you're in the wilderness. With no wilderness buffer, the people in the next site are literally feet from your tent. You will hear all of their conversations, and they will hear yours. Even sites two or three down will be audible depend on the people staying.
The gravel is both a pro and con. Since it's gravel, you won't get much mud, but if you're tent camping, make sure you bring a sleeping pad or something that gets you off the ground. Otherwise, you're literally going to be spending the night trying to get comfortable on a bed of sharp rocks.
Since the area is pretty compact, you're never very far from the main road. You will hear vehicles, especially trucks and motorcycles at all hours of the day. This may not be an issue for some, but it's good to be aware.
There is water and electricity access at each site, which is nice. The restrooms near the camp seemed clean enough (can't expect miracles, but *far* better than a portapotty). Cell service was basically non-existent for me (AT&T), but thankfully almost every area of the park aside from hiking areas offers free wifi access.
Since the site is gravel, children may have a hard time finding space to play on site. Heard lots of complaining from kids from both neighboring sites about boredom. There is a play ground near the pool which would help, but again, no real place or room to play at the site itself.
However, the camp ground is close to the falls, which is nice. Less than a few minutes drive or about a 20 min hike will put you there, and the sound of the cascade is always in the background, which is pleasant. The hike is a fairly good grade, and not sure how easy it would be to try at night to go see the moonbow.
Overall, it's fine. It's not my preference, I really, really don't like how crammed together the sites are and the gravel as opposed to dirt is uncomfortable and annoying. If you don't get good neighbors, you probably aren't going to have a good time at the site. Thankfully, there are plenty of hiking trails and activities like swimming to keep you away during the day, but having a family prepare breakfast literally less than 5 feet from your head way too early in the AM is not fun and will put a hamper on your day.

Bath houses are older but very clean & nice. The family bath house offers more privacy. The sites are best for smaller campers.

My husband and I stayed at campsite 44 within the Clifty Campground area. I had read some reviews that there was not any privacy at this tent campsite as the spots were against each other with no brush/trees in between sites and while that was true SOME of the sites within Clifty are more secluded than the majority.
Site 49 is one of the two sites that will have complete privacy although if there is a gathering at the nearby shelter you would hear it. A trail exits close by as well. Other than that 49 looked like the best spot, hands down. A lot of tree cover. It's on a turnaround loop for cars though but I don't see, given the amenities, why anyone would driver down that way.
Site 48 sits at the end of the narrow road through the bulk of the "on top of each other" sites and is very secluded but I didn't see a water spigot or electricity run to it if you're concerned about that. This one is the furthest away from the bathrooms obviously but next to 49 the most secluded. It also looked to be the biggest site with the largest area of flat ground. Most of the sites are gravel but this one seemed to have some grassy/worn areas to set up tents... several would fit at this site. The fire ring is kind of off to the side though, which I thought was weird and there wasn't a picnic bench like at the other sites. (Probably just moved by campers, I assume) You will have to carry your gear in about 25 feet or so as the site is past where the pavement ends and there are some large (although flat) rocks jutting up out of the ground in between the site and the road.
Site 50 sits lower than street level and it's easy to miss it but it is closest to the playground, restroom facilities and the pool (which was not open for the season when we were there). There are no other campsites on either side though so if noise doesn't bother you this one would be cool. Surrounded on 3 sides by heavily wooded area.
Site 44, where we camped had a small area jutting out over the trail below and although it sloped down a little we pitched our tent there and faced the door out over the cliff to make it seem more private. Water spigot worked great, forceful flow. Electric box had 4 grounded outlets and a cover... we took my electric car and it charged without an issue!
There are old lights on the posts lining the road through the campground but none of them function so there is less artificial light the further away from the restroom building you get.
Quiet time is at 11 and the only person that didn't obey that was the Park Law Enforcement Officer. He came to help some stranded campers with a dead battery and in the process fried something in his truck... he sat at the site next to ours, which was unoccupied, for HOURS having loud conversations on his cell phone and eventually a flat bed wrecker came to get his truck and backed in, back up beeper blaring, all the lights on, just loud as hell as those big wreckers are. They both talked loudly, over the sound of the wrecker, the whole time his vehicle was getting loaded. Thankfully that didn't take long but dang... it really affected the vibe of the first night we had there over the weekend.
Clifty Campground was fairly handicap accessible aside from the bathrooms... the stalls are typical campground stalls... super small... none of them would fit a wheelchair and if a person needed a walker they'd probably need a spotter so they could leave the stall door open.
One tiny step over ledge to the shower but other than that the campground was barrier free at every site from site 41 to 46 for someone that would be a in a chair.
Other than the ding dong Park Officer it was a good weekend, just chose your spot wisely and bring your thickest sleeping pad (I took two) for the gravel!

It's a nice smaller beautiful campground with that needed good strength WiFi! That is a must and they got it. Setting is on a ridge, sites are tight though, each with another feature that is a must. Campfire ring! Firewood and ice always available, and the small campstore has the basic needs. Horseback trail ride for $20.00 is a bargin in my opinion. A guided ride with trained horses through a beautiful forest of 100 year old trees was breathtaking. This campground covers the basics for anybody. You can even grab a free continental breakfast at the lodge, but we just grabbed a coffee and sat on the patio. Breakfast campsite is our preference.
Annie Gilbert
Absolutely beautiful! We tent camped and it was so amazing
Chris Holley
Stayed in cabin 520 loved it,it was the most secluded one away from the others. But be ready to go up 63-68 steps to get back to ur car to go any where, unless u want to walk the trail through the woods .which by the way is a very beautiful long hike
Jamie Nelson
Beautiful place and nice place to do some exploring and take pictures

We stayed in campsite 38 for a tent at Ridgeline Campground. The tent sites were nice but were super close together. There is also no parking if you’re in a tent site. We had to carry our belongings down the hill to the tent site because it was too steep to get a Jeep near the campsite. There was shade all day so that was nice. The grocery store on site has short hours and closed at 2pm on a Saturday. We arrived Friday at 4pm and there was no hand soap or paper towels in the women’s bathroom. I told them Saturday morning there was no hand soap or paper towels. There was still no hand soap or paper towels when we left on Sunday. The falls were pretty but I won’t camp at ridgeline again.
Tony “Financial-Referee”
Second year visiting in March. Rented cabin 519 great layout for two couples to share. Separate bedrooms each with attached full baths. Large common area with full kitchen. Brought two different soups and breakfast items. Two types of cookie dough to bake fresh cookies at each meal. Hiked multiple trails which were mostly well maintained. We will be back again next year. 👍
Kevin Millar
Saw the Falls and rode horses today! Great fun!
Daniel Hall
Beautiful area. Park is exquisitely clean designed. The cabins are large enough for our whole family. Relaxing and quiet. Highly recommend
Francisco & Naomi
Campsites are very small. Place is kinda tight especially if it's busy. Spot T5 is the absolute worst. Right next to the restrooms which means bright, obnoxious lights on all night. It has zero privacy and you'll have 100% sun all day. The "best" spots are in the circle in the back but even those aren't great. Pro's- decent showers and friendly service in the campground store.
Tanya Walker
Nice hiking trail.. just a beautiful place to visit
Katie Hudson
No pool for campers? It was $3 per person, per day to swim. Lodge and cabin guests got in for free. Why did I pay $63 to camp for 2 nights? Also, a park employee started up a leaf blower at 7am on Saturday morning. He ran it for about 20 minutes to wake everyone up. What was he blowing? It's June. There's no leaves. No grass had been mowed. Just literally blowing the empty pavement. I wouldn't have minded getting up that early but some people played music until 10pm the night before. Crappy music too. Like the electric slide and cotton eye Joe. Aside from that the bathrooms were super clean. Campsite 48 is the best one in my opinion. Very secluded and you can hear the falls... Once things quiet down of course.
Chris Caudill
Not to expensive, sooooo many things to do, very clean, an amazing experience. Plus they have funnel cakes.
Alyssa Curtis
They had the cleanest bathrooms at a campground that I have ever seen. The camp host was so friendly and very helpful. A great place to take kids.
Chris
On the way home from a family trip we ditched the hotel chains and stayed at a quaint cabin with creaky floors and a rustic fireplace. A perfect stop on our way through Kentucky.
Stephen Cole
Highly recommend visiting this park. There are lots of hiking trails and the falls are amazing. We stayed in the woodland rooms which are reasonably priced and cozy. The only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because the restaurant in the lodge was lackluster. They appeared to have a menu, but only gave us an option of using part of their buffet or the whole thing. The food was what I would expect to get in a cafeteria, not a restaurant for $15. Not bad, but not great.
Daniel Powell
Cumberland Falls is one of our favorite places to go. The campground is good if you have a small camper, ours is 25' and barely fits in a lot of sites, but I think that helps keeps it nice and quiet there, which is what we like.
god feeds the raven
When we arrived the camp host where great. They helped us with finding our site and was very knowledgeable of the local area. 5 stars for the camp host alone.
David Nowotny
Trees, dirt, rocks, lots of hills...they've got it all! A really beautiful place with spectacular scenery everywhere. But don't expect any level hikes...at all...really. You'll love it...unless you don't like hills or trees or rocks.
Kristi Johnson
Hard to get into site, tight & cramped. Read all reviews before booking.
Amanda McBride
Nice, quiet place to stay. Only downfall we have seen is the office/grocery store closes way to early. We arrived at 330pm (check in is at 2pm) and they were already gone for the day.
Christopher Pollitt
Nice campground with typical amenities. Free wifi, general store nearby. Great for casual campers, but kinda over developed for people who want to be in raw nature.
Alison Baker
Our first time camping here. We got the perfect site and will definitely be going back. The "clifty" side campsites are more secluded.
Larry Drosity
Nice campground, very clean restrooms, nice store. Very friendly, some sites are small to back into, but still had a great time
Constance Falucskai Ford
Amazing. But the spaces are super small if you are bringing a camper. Perfect sites for tents though.
David NOWOTNY
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! Campground is ok but the falls, trails, etc. Are all wonderful!
