This is an old arena but certainly still going strong. The prices were decent we paid $52 for 4 of us plus skates to skate for how long you would like until they're closed. They have a snack bar that is decently priced as well. I will say we were not big fans of the kind of skates they carry, as my son has ankle issues and they hurt him. With that being said they were very understanding and found a different pair to accommodate him and they worked perfectly. Great place to skate rather you are a pro or just learning.

The arena is clean and very festively decorated for the holidays. Admission and skate rental are $11 per person. The staff is courteous and helpful. We really did enjoy ourselves. We visited February 12th and as usual had a good time. Staff members were very helpful as usual. The ice appeared to be in good shape.

It was fun and cold! I was new there so I was grabbing the corner but then I get used to it so I started to get it no falls! And my family members only had some falls because they were not holding on! But 5/5! And we paid 52 for 4 people!

I’ve been coming to this ice skating rink for four years now and never had a bad experience. It is one of the best places to go to definitely to learn and to have fun. I couldn’t ask for a better place than Alpine.

Over all great price friendly staff and environment. However parking lot is dirt/gravel, the bathrooms are pretty nasty and this area that people can rest during there time on the ice has goals stored and have very sharp edges that could most definitely hurt a child but most certainly ripped my jeans. Safety is an issue in this sitting area and these goals should be stored somewhere else!

Very comfortable atmosphere and the snack bar was awesome. Place is perfect and the people were friendly. Needed to connect with my kids something I hadn't done for a while. Great outing with my family thanks Alpine Arena for the perfect place to relax, have fun and connect.

Nice place. The staff are friendly, the snack bar pricey but not terrible, the skates are good enough as rentals. The overall price of admission of rentals is great. One star removed only because they don't have lockers. Who doesn't have lockers at a place like this? Otherwise, my daughter and I had a good experience and will likely be back.

What a great place to ice skate. It's simple, easy to go and just skate. Small snack bar. Skate rentals available. Has been a Louisville institution for a long time. Had lessons, curling, hockey, figure skating. Recommend for a fun time ice skating.

We had a good time and lots of fun. The ice wasn't crowded. It was busy but not packed. Found the equipment in good condition. It was a fun afternoon!

seemed busy especially during the pandemic, but was still pretty fun. the blades needed sharpend and the skates weren't cleaned after use from what I could tell. it does have some what of a rail or edge to hold on too for beginners.

We went ice skating over the holiday (I forgot to review!) Was our first time as a family going together. We would have had a blast under the worst conditions, to be honest. The staff were friendly, and we had coupons for free drinks/food, but were a little disappointed in the quality of the blades on the skates. Even the girl working explained the reason my kiddos were most likely having such a difficult time was due to their poorly sharpened blades :( That would be the only reason we might look elsewhere next year.

My fiance and I go here every winter. Our favorite thing to do is go ice skating on Christmas day there. I remember my mother taking me there in the early 90s to skate. Such great memories, and making more everyday!

I have never before gone ice skating, so I can't compare if it was a really good place or not. We had fun but I have to say we were expecting the skates to lace higher on our ankles than they did. As a result, our ankles were pretty wobbly. I don't know if that is normal or not but there was another customer with the same concern. Overall, we had a fun time.

I really enjoyed celebrating my daughter's birthday there. I used to go there growing up, and I am glad they are still here in Louisville to bring lots of recreational fun to many more generations to come! The staff is very friendly and the prices are great. Groupon even has some great coupons you can use.

Very nice place. Friendly staff, but if you are an inexperienced skater, don't get figure skates, get the hockey skates and work up from there. Figure skates have a spike it the front for I believe spinning but if you're not careful, they can trip you up for some pretty painful falls.

Me & hubby took our boys (8&4) here for our 1st ice skating experience. Wasnt bad. Def needed lessons beforehand because there is no one there to help beginners. Skates were ok, not sharp. Ice was pretty tore up & melty in spots. We didnt eat but didnt think prices were too bad. Wish skating prices were a little cheaper for first timers or those less experienced, my 4yo skated for about 1/2hr & was done. Make sure to dress warm: hats, gloves, coats..

It might just be nostalgia from when I was a kid but this is a fun place to go skating. It might be a little shabby and old but it just has a really good local feel. Also they're pretty good at smoothing the ice more than say Iceland or a lot of other rinks that I've been to.

This is our family's go to place for skating. We love that it is family owned and operated and that one of them is ALWAYS on site to speak to. They have had some issues with one of their compressors breaking down which combined with the warmer than usual weather has made the ice less than perfect and unable to be Zambonied (is that a word?), but they have always made us aware of it and even let us look to see if we wanted to skate on it. Was there this weekend and the compressors have been repaired and the ice was as close to perfect as it can get. Best bang for your buck in Louisville, in my opinion.

I went her for the Curling Club, which was a blast. The facility is really old and needs some work. Everyone there was nice. The ice was not nearly smoothe enough for curling. It is just fine for ice skating or hockey

Memory lane. My husband learned to skate there and spent many hours there as a kid/teen. Went for daughter's 16th bday as a surprise. Staff was friendly. Ice could have been better. The overhead covering needs to be repaired/replaced. The condensation was dripping on the ice everywhere causing lots of raised areas where it had fallen making it harder to skate than should have been. The kids had fun though- it was a first for many. Would still go back any time if for no other reason than the memories growing up.

Very polite and helpful staff at this location. I highly recommend this as a great way to enjoy some entertainment. I will definitely go back before the yearly summer closure in April. Thank you for such a great venue for myself and kids.

Tried and true, been open my whole life. Clean, ice serviced regularly. Have been to bithday parties and events over the years, we have Community Chanukah party there every year. Staff always friendly and accomodating, reasonably priced. One of a dozen or so family owned and operated ice rinks in the country.

Nice family owned skating rink, $9 for skates and time on the ice, pretty busy on Saturday night. Ice skating is really hard tho, and they dint offer refunds so don't get upset when you/your family wants to leave after 10 minutes.

This is my absolute favorite place to skate! Sometimes the ice can be a little sketchy, but it's very homey and the skates are quite nice. The atmosphere is amazing and the music is pretty good.

I had heard horrible things about Alpine: slanted ice, ice too rough to skate on, etc... Some I read here, some I was told by others who skate at Iceland. However, I was looking for a rink that I could use during the week and found the ice to be equal or better than iceland's main rink, I never found that slope people complained about and I spent 1.5 hours on the ice there looking for anomalies. The personnel at Alpine are very personable. Iceland's problem is that they have too many scheduled activities and not enough public ice time. So I find Alpine's having more public time very refreshing and it allows me to go when I want. I was at Alpine on a wednesday night when I went and very few people were on the Ice which allowed me a good look at their ice and facilities. While Alpine's facility is old, dating to the 1960's, that just added to its charm and appeal. I look forward to continuing at both facilities Iceland and Alpine.

Nice and quiet... dare I say intimate. Youthy crowd. Ice was pretty banged up and apparently no plans to Zamboni. Overall one of my better skating experiences due to the openness of the rink.

I'd recommend bringing your own skates here, because the skates they have are absolutely abhorrent. However, I did have fun in the end, because they have a goat named Daisy, and that goat gave me the strength to go on while the skates painfully molested my ankles. All in all, go here, but buy your own skates.

It's a fun rink when it's cold enough outside. Otherwise they shut down for the day or there are melted spots you can't skate on. They could also really use some storage lockers.

I love it there because it is my skate home. I am one of the figure skaters there and I love it there. If I work there on some nights I will help tie your skates and if I don't work I still help you out. I help you skate if you need help I go there every Saturday ☺☺

I visited Daisy, the goat, not the skating rink. The skating rink own the lovable goat but the community feeds Daisy. Whoever is responsible for her care NEEDS to have her hooves trimmed. They are splitting.

Skate fell apart, wasted 10 minutes getting another one. only open until 5. Clocks were fast, and customers were rushed off the ice before the advertised closing time.
