Reviews of Annenberg Community Beach House
For us flatlanders the beach is special. It’s truly wonderful that Californians have such a long stretch of beach that is accessible to everyone. We were there at sunset, and it was magical
Beautiful spot to share lunch at the tables and chairs with umbrellas! It is kept clean and well maintained. Great view of the beach, comfortably from the tables and chairs. Convenient parking close by. 🏖 …
Went here to see the ocean and dip my toes in the water. It was beautiful and peaceful.
Great vibe, easy parking and a really nice pool. Perfect beach destination whether local or tourist.
Solo visit.
Pros: inna very nice condition, right next to the beach, with a swimming pool kid-friendly and umbrellas.
Cons: Parking is really tough, even if you are attending an event (reservation would be great!)
The Beach House Cafe lacks many vegan options. The tofu scramble is bland but veggies and potatoes tasted fresh. Love that no plastic straws or containers are used- yay! Can’t beat the beachfront ocean view and top-notch, friendly service. The cafe gets very busy for lunch so it’s best to get there early or make a reservation.
Gorgeous stretch of the beach to go for a walk or a bike ride!
Parking is hourly with the pay machine, $3/h, fills up quickly on the weekends.
My son's football team had their annual banquet here and boy were we impressed. They have a full staff of people who serve top notch meals while you enjoy scenic views and calm atmospheres.
Right on PCH, the access to the beach is very close and the space is all open. Tall windows let you see all the way to Malibu and you can smell the ocean. We keep looking for a reason to come back here.
We had food options, from chicken to beef and veggies. The staff is super attentive and upbeat. Highly recommend this place for large groups and charity events.
Go SaMo High football!!
A great big huge area..great for events ...the bums get on the property a lot and no one seems to be in charge of getting them out. The should have better kitchen facilities. But great pool and stunning views of the ocean.
Gorgeous beachwalk and direct access to the beach. The community center is so cute! Paid parking, but perfect for young kids and biking or skating. Volleyball nets and soccer nets on the sand! 🤩 …
The tour is ok. The parking lot is small & price average for the area. The pool is closed during the winter months, but does get pretty busy when open. A lot of mom's have their kids playing in the sand play area. The cafe is nice and also priced for the area.
This is an amazing event venue! It has great views of the beach, but also has a lot of bright and airy spaces. Parking is ample, and not too far from the end of the 10 freeway for those coming from farther out. Very kid friendly if your event also has young children. Can't wait for the next event we attend there! Also has a great pool.
This is a great place to go spend a day at the pool, have a private event or meeting, or to go and take a tour of the Marion Davies House. The tour of the house is awesome and very historical. The tour guides were great and gave a lot of fantastic information about the historical significance of the house and the area. Come check it out and spend some time in the sun at the beach. You can not go wrong!
Great place for beach and pool outings for the entire family!!!! In addition to the pool and beach, there is also a cafe, a playground, tents for shade and serving food, volleyball nets. The prices are very reasonable, but entry is on a first come first serve basis. This place is definitely a jewel!!
Beautiful space for celebrations, receptions, corporate events and training. Fairly easy to get to as far as beach properties go. Lots of parking.
This was my 1st time at this beach.. The community center set up was very clean, laid out nicely nicely, surprisingly not too crowded (early August 2022).
I really liked that there was a paved boardwalk that boardwalk that went rather far out to the beach which was a great way to avoid frying your feet. Renting umbrellas for the beach was easy.
The kids liked the food, And while there was decent food options like if your vegan or vegetarian, it's not necessarily diet restriction friendly for those of us with more allergies.
The pool was nice, But it's for kids who can swim or for kids who are with their parents. There is no real shallow end where weak swimmers can walk around, I think the shallowest area was almost 4', Which was fine for me and my kids who are good swimmers it swimmers but if your child does not a strong swimmer You really need to go in the pool with them, you can't watch from the side.
It looked like the toughest thing was the parking lot, if you don't come early it will fill up, We got there around 9:30 and There were still a number of spaces but it was definitely close to getting filled up.
loved it. busy for a weekday-70% full, fee is very reasonable. lined up 1 hour before opening to get tickets. can't imagine what a weekend day would be like. parking was $12 for the day, lot right beside the pool. heated pool was great, very clean and despite being full, lots of space in the pool as most ppl were adults lounging on the chaise. one lifeguard on duty-no rowdiness allowed.
We love this place! Pool is heated a bit, so even on an overcast day it's still warm in the water (but can get cold when you're not in the water so bring a jacket if it's overcast). Splash pad is simple, but has seating around it if you just want free fun. The swings are a big hit too, but those are also public so just a little wait if there are a lot of kids. And there are two handicap swings that are reclined which is awesome if needed!
Parking in the actual lot fills up quickly, but there are plenty of public lots just south of the beach house ($12/day) so try those. It's an easy walk on the beach walk.
Also, bring lots of towels, snacks, etc. Just no glass! Such an amazing place!!
Great location! Public beach club with great food and a safe location for the beach. Pull up the web site for more inf
o. Also an excellent walking and beach path runs up and down the beach. Separated bike/walk path so it is safe and fun .benches up a down the beach to rest.
Perfect spot to park (small lot) in the middle of Santa Monica beach — halfway between the Pier and Will Rogers. Best services on the sand: restaurant, bathrooms, playground. The Annenberg also offers a lap pool ($). Terrific spot for sunsets too.
In ryw sunmer it's members only. However in the Summer it's open to the Public.
For the last three years this facility had been our go-to for fun, my 6-year old has grown up there and told me last night “Mommy, I want to live on the beach”.
From the playground, to the splash pad, to the restaurant where she can dig in the sand while mommy has “mommy juice”, every component of this place is a joy.
Weekends in the summer are a challenge tho, with the pool and parking passes selling out early, so be sure to get there early.
I had daughters third birthday party there at the splash pad - the parents and kids loved it!
Only opened on certain days and limited times.
Very clean and well organized. Cute little splash pad, perfect for rinsing off when kids are done at beach. Pool looked great, although with parking fee and a large family, it could add up. We stuck with the beach and had a great time. Would like to come back another time and use other amenities such as the game room. Bathrooms clean. Cute cafe. Easy to lug stuff onto the beach on the pathway provided. Free sunscreen dispenser on beach.
We love love love the Annenberg Community Beach House the photos show the joy and glee on my students and childrens face says it all. The best kept secret in Santa Monica. So here's my tip on how to fully enjoy yourself when you decide to go. Go early I mean whilst the rest of LA is sleeping we arrive by 8.30am then you can park close, easy to unload the car. Secondly take lunch with you because children get hungry i mean really hungry so pack the igloo with drinks, snacks real food and munchies. Finally take two lots of swim wear one for the pool a second fit when they want to head to the beach. Finally it's all the comfort once your there with your own sun bed, umbrella little table, the games room when there done with swimming, the art gallery and Marion Davies guest house for those who wish to be further educated!! Hope to see you there we normally go on Monday it's half price!!!!
Fast service. Super friendly. Loved that the beach is part of the Cafe. Love the mini kids playground. 1 mile away from the Pier. Food was amazing! Had the Back on the Beach Burger - delicious!! Has a great kids play area if you want to eat and the kids want to play. Edit: the tacos were amazing. The margaritas strong and delicious ;)
So many things to love about Annenberg! The heated swimming pool, splash pad, summer activities on the beach like bubbles, sand volleyball classes, kids play area, cleanliness of bathrooms and entire area, cafe has great cookies, sandwiches, coffee. The restaurant has great brunch foods and mimosas!
My first visit here. Took the tour. Our guide Linda Black was informative and entertaining. Beach and facilities were clean and welcoming. Can't wait to go back!
I can’t even begin to describe how wonderful this place is. The food, the service, the prices and… above all… the location!
Great day pool for family's looking for nice spot. Website gives all info and you must reserve for 10 bucks. Parking is 12 all day, good food, nice beach, and tour the Davies guest house.
Great location for an event. And when you are on a break at the event, you can enjoy the beach that is literally feet away from you
Fantastic! Clean bathrooms, showers. Very clean beach! I loved to see Clean Air Vehicle spots.
Beautiful facility open to the public right on the beach. Great place to enjoy the ocean and many outdoor activities.
Miracle of tax payer dollars at work. A public beach house? It is the best! We just competed in the cardboard boat race which was a riot. There is even a sun screen station. Bravo #santamonica!
The annenberg community beach house looked very clean and well taken care of , offers plenty of activities to do and enjoy either individually or as a family or couple.. boasts an indoor pool and best of all it is open to the public. Metered parking $3 an hour right on the edge of the beach, highly recommend.
Easy beach day, close parking, bathrooms, cheap rentals , game room, and public pool, all within a few yards of the beach. Kids love the splash pad, and you can grab a table watch them play while eating a snack from the on-site cafe, really takes the work out of going to the beach, and everything is inexpensive, even parking on a Sunday was only $6.00, and a 5 minute wait for a spot.
Enjoyed the restaurant, wak on beach, Marion Davis Beach house, and reasonably parking fee
Beautiful pool warm water by solar clean bathroom very nice location Front of the beach Lifeguards on duty Fun for the entire family
Amazing management people, nice lady
I LOVE Annenberg Beach House. If you get overwhelmed with the event at the Beach House, you simply go to the beach and relax. Or if you are like me you make friends with Volleyball hall of famers playing on the beach and you can improve their volleyball game by using analysis of every move and every millisecond without any app.
The beach itself is very nice and does have a somewhat downward slope, but nothing that would be a concern as it is not a drop off, you have to walk down the slope to the beach. It really is a nice area. I hope you like the picture I took.
This spot makes you feel like you're visiting your fortunate friend. Drive into the drive and park. The parking fee is cheaper than other lots. There is a cafe with good food, not fast food. They have a small park area for the kids to play on gym equipment. There is a pool with 113 capacity and as many lounging chairs. They have an event center for rent. Check out the second floor observation deck. There are tables and chairs next to the Marion Davis guest house. It's closed right now due to Covid but usually open for tours. You can rent a bike to ride the dedicated bike path. You can sun/swim on the beach til closing. This place feels private but it's open to all. We went on a week day in February so it was not crowded. What a fabulous place. We'll rent bikes on our next visit.
Beautiful beach area for families to enjoy. The restaurant in the sand is great for adults and kids. I live coming here each time I visit the So. Cal area!!
The outside dining in the restaurant has the special quality of being able to dip your toes in the sand. The food is good but the prices are higher for what you get, the location makes it nice opportunity to a day visit at the beach
Great resource. Nice cafe, pool, patios and quiet spaces to enjoy the ocean and beach.
Really nice place to take the family. Fun things to play on. Nice restrooms. Safe parking. Right close to the ocean but far enough away to not have to worry. Fun fun place !
Beautiful picturesque location for events and receptions by the pool, the beach, and the Pacific.
We have been here several times for events and gallery openings. Make sure to sign up with Santa Monica cultural departments mailing list. I always love coming here and enjoy the value of public arts.
Super cool facility for events or gathering or just to come chill and play. I attended a week long professional training and everything from technology provided to the staff we interacted with was top notch.
This was a very cool place to have an event at on the Beach at Santa Monica. An amazing amount of history.
We have our annual family get together at Back at the Beach in the back room. The service is always great, plenty of parking, and a place for kids to play just outside.
A beautiful vintage gem of a pool, usually warm water. Can be crowded on weekends, but weekdays and end of season, it might be pretty empty.
Amazing beach with long bike roads.
As a digital nomad! I have to say this place is wonderful. A nice patio area is separated from the beach and makes a great space for online work.
The beach includes volleyball nets with bike and beach accessory rentals next door.
This is where I play in a beach volleyball league every weekend. Parkings great, except after 11am on a summer weekend, sand’s good, and the people that visit this beach seem proper and wholesome, families and whatnot. Plus they have the cleanest bathrooms you’ll find at any Santa Monica beach.
Perfect for a day a the beach with all the comodities, bathroom, lockers... and if you are tired of the beach you have the pool...
Ths lifeguards are a bit agressive which kinda ruin the moment...
Was here the whole day with the kids. So many different activities to do. There are public pools, splash pad, playground, restaurants and of course a very large beach front with lots of volleyball nets and a bike path along the entire beach front. I was so pretty and peaceful. The kids had a blast. Finished the day having dinner on the beach and watching the sunset. It was a perfect day.
The place is very kid oriented. Great vibes from the staff. Good parking, playground and splash pad for kids.
We had a memorial service for my friend's mother here and it was near perfect- easy to find, bathrooms, parking, a cafe, trash and recycling, and we were allowed to bring one 12×12 canopy for the service. You can't control other rude people and screaming kids, but otherwise, it's a convenient location if you want to have a service on the beach. The cafe had biodegradable packaging for food
Wonderful place for Sunday brunch, and to watch the world go by.
Gorgeous, friendly staff, very cool preserved sections of fencing. Well maintained. Secure.
Always good spot to have coffee while enjoying the view
Great spot on the beach. The lot is small but worth it. There is a pool that you can use for a fee. There is a great restaurant right on the beach. The original Greek Revival servamts quarters from the mansion built by William Randolph Hurst still stands a short way away from the pool he had built.
A small, personal exhibition of some of America's greatest photographs. Highly educational and informative. If you love photography, you'll love this museum!
I love this center. It's located between very expensive private beach clubs. It's a great place to take your families with a pool, splash pads, swings, a sand area with play equipment, family areas with tables, bathrooms, a huge parking area ($12 for the day or hourly rates) and right next door to The Back on the Beach Restaurant ( the best restaurant on the beach). I love this Center because it's very safe and extremely clean. It's also located near a walkway to the beach. I call it a hidden gem.
Very nice and clean. Family friendly. Parking was good with beach accessibility. Restrooms open and playground for kids. Hidden gem.
Beautiful venue with amazing ocean views, great weather and excellent facilities.
Great views, gorgeous stretch of sand, not overly crowded w/clean bathrooms and easy access to parking.
We love the convenience of all day parking, nice beach, restrooms/changing rooms, and beachside cafe.
Peaceful and beautiful beach! ⛱ ✨
My family and I normally use the beach house and splash pad when open, but it's closed temporarily. We still like parking in this lot as it's convenient for short bike rides with my 3 and 5 Y/O. The restaurant here also has some take out options and water. Great location especially earlier on, before 10am, before it gets crowded.
Beautiful place with lot of amenities and a pool. Parking is about $3 hour or $ 12 for all day. You have access to the besch.
Beautiful house and surroundings that will take you back in time.
The place is near the beach and really secure for anyone to visit.
Great easy parking with quick beach access and clean bathrooms.
Beautiful, clean beach with $12 all day secured parking 😎 …
This playground at Annenberg Community Beach is great. Not only do you have access to a great restaurant but also access to the beach and the ocean, all in one.
Such a great family spot. The beach amenities are free to use and open year-round. The pool has a small fee and closes a few months a year (pity), but it’s totally worth it. I recommend getting there early unless you have a reserved spot.
This place is awesome! For breakfast and lunch. They serve breakfast until 3:00 p.m. this place is a hidden gem. Ask for a table right out front, you won't regret it
We find this place fantastic. Parking is a little costly, but it’s a clean parking area and easy access to the beach. The facility is well maintained. Will have to try and make a session of floating yoga one of these Saturdays! And we love the cafe. The menu has a good variety of dishes. The smoked trout arugula salad is simply wonderful. Huge portion. As are the grilled salmon salad, breakfast pasta!
Nice access to the beach. Convient parking!! Pool, restaurant and FREE SUNSCREEN😯 …
Annenberg is an absolutely great way to enjoy the beach, especially on an off season cooler day. Lots of comfortable easy to walk to seating which was great for my mom who's had knee surgery, the cleanest beach bathrooms I've ever seen, easy to get out on beach itself, there's even a paved / accessible path most of the way down the beach to the ocean with benches at the end. It's free admission unless you are using the pools (closed this time of year) but even those prices seemed reasonable especially with how clean it is. This is my new favorite beach place in Santa Monica.
This place is remarkable. I have a 9 year old niece that has terminal cancer and has never been to the beach. She's lived in Vegas her short life. While visiting LA, she asked to go and we found this wheel chair accessible beach, that offered specially designed wheelchairs for the beach, free of charge. My niece was so excited and found a handful of shells, she took to Vegas. Thanks to the two wonderful ladies who work there.
Wonderful healthy enviroment. Great place for everyone. Kids, seniors and adults.
Once a private residence for Marion Davies, now a state park. New, modern, facility. Beach in front, "Back to Beach" restaurant--a good one--on the sand.
This is a great place!
PROS:
Clean bathrooms and not crowded at all
Lockers available
Free parking (we came on a Sunday at 9:30 and there were 6 spots left)
Crowd is generally nice
Picnic area free and not crowded
Air conditioning in the rec room
Pool is warm at about 85F
CONS:
Pool is crowded - the shallow end at least
You have to pay for pool access but then again if it's free, it would be a zoo in there
We went into the pool, had lunch at the picnic area and then went to the beach then back to the pool. We showered of course coming back to the pool from the beach.
I really love this beach. I almost do not want to review it and keep it a secret.
Such a great place for families and all! It is a recreation hub. If you have not been to this historic pool yet, it is a must visit. Take a yoga class, visit the game room, rent a canopy on the beach, go stand up paddle boarding with friends, splash in the pool. This place has it all! And a fantastic staff to match it!
A nice walk along the beach. Beautiful watching watching sun peak through in the early morning hours. It gets a little chilly when the rain comes in. Bring a jacket!
Quite nice, just got to entrance buy tickets and until they close you can stay. Pool is very big and nice to swim in, not to cold. Also changing rooms and nice.
This is an absolutely gorgeous beach house and has some great beach access! However, finding the north parking lot can be confusing and the signage is not very helpful with that.
Loved it!. What a wonderful, relaxing experience 😌 😎... we spent 5 🖐🏽 hours there. We will definitely be back. …
Very relaxing and great for both children and adults. Just remember to bring a towel and a change of clothes for the young ones, as they will likely find the wet patch irresistible! There's a decent restaurant on premise as well (and service is very good when they place isn't overwhelmed with families).
Super convenient- easy to park and set up.
amazing resource for the community. Great children's play area. Clean pool,. Nice restaurant on the sand next door.
Good place
We love this place. Come down from norcal to visit family and we get to go here every few years. Beach is right there. Food near or bring in your own. A local favorite. Will continue going as possible everytime we come down. Hot showers to wash off also. Very nice accommodations and changing areas. Upper deck area also.
Nice place , water is awesome . Clean facilities
I absolutely love this place! It is a bit expensive but Heath an Kim are just amazing at what they do.
The Annenberg offers different activities such as a sand area for kids with swings and community toys. They have an upstairs play room, a pool and the beach a short walk away. You can rent paddle boards and/or canopies. You do have to pay for some activites but it's well worth it.
This is a place you can spend the whole day with the family.
I'm from Tucson, AZ and just came across this place by driving by in our recent visit to Santa Monica. Love this place! I will not go anywhere else. VERY kid friendly. $8 parking for the whole day. VERY safe. Close enough to the pier, which we went to it was okay but very congested. I'd prefer here than anywhere else. Our first stop was Venice Beach which we had a terrible time there. Not kid friendly, too many people stopping you trying to get you to buy there cds, every 5 steps. I didn't feel safe with my small children there and the parking was $20. I'll never go to Venice again.
The attendants at the reserved parking need Aimee improvement, were not there when we arrived and then yelled at us when we removed the pole ourselves to park! Our spot was ready for us and staff on duty were very pleasant. Great place for kids party!
The pool area is very spacious overlooking a large rectangular pool surrounded with many lounging chairs. The center is very close to the Santa Monica off ramp which makes it very convenient for the local population. Also, a cafe is on the beach near the pool area which is very convenient to enjoy lunch or dinner before going to the pool area. It has been very enjoyable to swim or just relax at this delightful center.
Great time with the family. The staff is knowledgeable and welcoming.
Great spot to stop by for Beach activities, feel safe and easy to accommodate everyone's need especially while the whole family members want to go together, not so crowded during week days. Liked the cafe food a lot..
My kids love this place. I love it too, as I can read a book or chat with other parents without having to worry about their safety. I just wish parking was easier, but overall a great place to spend an afternoon with your kids.
Come early! Parking will be full before 10am on the weekends. Restaurant is overpriced for average food, but it's on the beach! Playground and splash pad are free. Nice boardwalk out to the water. Pool is extra cost and fills up during peak times. One of Santa Monica's gems.
Party on at Annenberg Community Beach House. We had our anniversary party in the modern Sand and Sea room. A lovely view of the ocean from this space. Plan to watch the setting sun. The indoor outdoor space is clean. The is staff is friendly. I did not like the chairs we were required to use. You are only allowed to serve beer and wine/no hard liquor. This great romantic location is ideal for a anniversary or wedding. We had 47 guests and had plenty of space for entertainment and dancing. This was a magical night. Especially loved our caterer Back on the Beach
It's far enough away from the pier that it's not crowded with tourists. Great place to park and explore the beach and the accommodations along it. I parked here and went for a run, came back to my car to get my beach stuff and just relaxed on the beach. $3 per hour to park here.
I didn't go to the pool, I actually hung out in the sand playground with my nephews. It's a great location for the kids to play, bathrooms are convenient, and you can eat at the restaurant by the ocean. Food is just ok but you're there to be by the ocean.
When it's not a weekend parking semi easy here you pay for the stall for a couple hours run on the beach play volleyball go swimming surf, the club has great food that's reasonably priced, also serves beer and wine. Great place to watch the sunset.
One of my favorite beaches, great fun for the whole family. They have a great play area and a extended boardwalk leading to the beach. Come early in day for best parking!
Great place for the whole family to enjoy a full day at the beach. Pro tip: Purchase parking the day before and arrive 9am. Pool, kids playgroung, water fountain, restaurant, amazing beachfront location and surf board rentals.
I can only speak to parking and use of outside bathrooms and shower. Very clean facilities and if you time it right people will likely let you use their parking space (get the receipt) so you dont have to pay. It is a 200 or so yard walk to the ocean. Prepare for this.
I went to a wedding here and obviously the views are spectacular being on the beach. The food was quite good actually - although I'm not sure if they did the food or it was an outside caterer. The only thing I would complain about is that it's not the biggest space. The ceremony and reception were in two different locations and I think it got a bit cramped. If you're having an event with under 150 people it should be okay but that's pushing it.
Our experience here was that the beach area is clean and beautiful, that the Annenberg house is spacious, that the playground nearby is lovely, and that the restaurant is, too. The last has vegan options, which we like, and there were plenty of bikers, walkers, and skateboarders along the boardwalk. It is not a place you can get to via public transit, but is just a short Uber away from downtown Santa Monica train station. We will go again and recommend others to go. I'm giving this a 3 star review only because I felt that the guide for our family beach walk was condescending toward my young child, treating her more like a nuisance than a person. She did show her some ways to use our tour binoculars, but my daughter and I ended up leaving the nature walk early and will not be attending one again. I do not recommend the beach/nature walks to other people. There was also a photographer there taking photos of my child every time she raised her binoculars, assumedly for publicity, but no one informed me of this, nor were I or my daughter asked if we wanted them taken, even as a courtesy. This place needs to work on its people skills.
Usually having to wait for the parking space at peak season and hours, but other than that convenient place for accessing beach, there are showers, restrooms, cafe and parking.
I came here for a luncheon and I've come a few times with my mom for a nice day at the beach. I like that it's just humble enough to feel welcoming to all (you can bring outside food and have a picnic), but clean and well taken care of. Something about it still seems out of place and I'm guessing it has to do with how far away it is from the water. The pool always looks overcrowded and reminds me of a scene from the 60s where you see a "public" pool that's just a tad bit overcrowded. I'm not a germ freak at all, but...hmm...gross?
Great swimming for kids. Always fun. Can get crowded around 11am.
Closed during the winter, but have fond memories of it in the summer. You need to get there early as it fills up quick, and there can be a lot of children which might not be to everyone's liking. The restaurant serves very nice sandwiches (I had a chicken with apply sandwich on marble bread which was delicious), but is a little bit pricey, though not OTT.
Always a great time at the Annenberg Beach House! Splash pad, playground, swimming pool, cafe & takeout, picnic, steps away to the beach, parking (reserve the day before. The lot can be packed on a nice day). Go online for children activities & events.
This place is a real gem! Bravo to the Annenberg foundation for doing this! The original guest house for Marion Davies and William Randolph Hearst still exists here. The actual clubhouse stands where the mansion used to stand. They did a really nice job on renovating the pool. The pool is open during the summer. You need reservations which you can make online. So nice at a place like this is mostly free to the public. Also sign up for their newsletter because they often have free concerts and lectures here.
Great for families. Year round there's a playground and restaurant. During the summer there's a pool and splash pad. The pool offers showers, changing facilities, and lockers. The pool and parking fill up fast each day.
The grounds are quite nice. I’m not sure why they charge $10 a person for the use of the ‘community’ pool. So a family of 5 would have to spend $50 to use it for a day. I wish they did more film and music events but ehi it’s Santa Monica, they don’t even do concerts at the Auditorium and they pretty much stopped the ones at the pier. But it’s ok for a city of retirees that managed to turn down the Broad Museum that was going to be built and managed free by the Broad Foundation but spent 40 millions on a park only used by the homeless. Hopefully in the future, all these out of touch old farts will give room to young bright minds that will get their jobs based on merit and not nepotism.
Hollywood at the beach! This is the renovated and revised property of the once opulent beach mansion of silent screen star Marion Davies and newspaper tycoon W.R. Hearst. Only the original Olympic-size pool and a guest cottage remain from the original estate, and the Annenberg Family funded the 27.5 mil resurrection as a community gathering property just a decade ago. You pay parking, $6 for 2 hrs. or $8 for all day. No entrance fee, and even the tour of the cottage is free. Great place to eat on the beach inexpensively, there is a children's playground, and in and outdoor party spaces for rental. A must see for SoCal visitors.
My favorite beach to spend the time at evening ♡
Attended a wedding, beautiful facility and very clean. Lovely swin area for little kiddos 😉 …
Food is always delicious. Great portion sizes. Definitely a great place to enjoy a beautiful view of the West Coast.
They have everything that you’ll need for a day at the beach, and, most importantly, the location is amazing. You’re close to the Pier and the Promenade if you want to stop by either, and you’re only steps away from the Pacific Ocean! There’s also a stoplight on PCH out front, so the turn-in isn’t nearly as bad as most everywhere else on the street!
One of the best beaches in Los Angeles. Paid parking. Outdoor showers. Even a swimming pool (entrance fee). Plus "back at the beach" restaurant where you can eat on the sand! Lovely place.
I love Annenberg Community Beach. It's really pretty, clean, and super relaxing.
It feels like a resort in the middle of the city.
I also love the history and game room
Thanks City of Santa Monica for creating a one of a kind place for us locals. Stellar Job. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Just a fun beach house love the views
Great public beach house where you can take a shower after swimming, running or biking along the boardwalk and then get lunch afterward. There are lockers too. There is a pool there for individuals who find the ocean too cold and salty or the beach too sandy (personally, I don't understand this, but whatever).
Nice beach. Parking is $3 per hour. Get on the bike path and ride to Santa Monica pier and back easily.
Attended a beach wedding here. Make sure to ask for free parking pass if you are here for an event. The upstair event space is small but cozy; the patio is spacious. Clean restrooms available.
I love cycling down to the Annenberg Beach House via the Marvin Braudy Bike trail along the shore of the Pacific ocean. There's a public swimming pool and tour of the museum, which is an old restored mansion once owned and frequented by celebrities of the Hollywood golden era. There's a playground for children and an outdoors restaurant right on the oceanfront. Various rooms can be rented for special events.
One of the best kept secrets in Los Angeles. Spend the day at the beach as if this is your private club yet there are no monthly club fees. Simply pay to park and use the pool and facilities. Be sure to reserve a spot at the pool during peek seasons.
Such a nice and clean beach. We also love the walkway as it makes it easier to schlep all of our stuff without the pain on walking in soft sand.
Beautiful spot to act as home base for a beach day. A pool during the summer, $12 all day parking, clean bathrooms...and even a playground. This is an awesome base camp for family beach day.
Great and ckean restrooms..great walkway for people with difficulty walkung on sand.. Great cabana.. We went on a Friday, it was fantastic. Available trash cans, beautiful view! From Miami here visiting son and his family for a week..!
For a chill day at the pool with option to step over to the beach, or vice versa, this is the place. Reasonable fee to use pool, all other amenities are free, including game room upstairs.
I was there for the first annual Santa Monica Polar Bear Swim. It was fun for all ages (1.5 - 77) and well organized. Ocean temperature was 59 F and pool temperature was 91! S'mores and hot cocoa and games for everyone.
The beach is lovely and I like the clean restrooms. I wish they would lower prices during off peak times.
Very family friendly. Had bathrooms, outside showers to rise off. Swings ,rock climbing on a small dome. Clean beach. Food ,drinks. An a small walk way thru the sand.
A vast beach in a friendly atmosphere.
Been there twice for conferences, clean and bright. The only confusion were parking. You could park at the public lot but check if they have special parking ready for you upon checkin if you go there for a specific hosted function. Bathroom is small downstairs but there is a bigger one up stairs.
Really beautiful and fascinating little stop. Guided free tours at the right time really helps understand everything. A gem
Great clean and easy parking. Well maintained facilities.
A very pretty location for a conference but there is no wifi, which seems like a strange limitation in Santa Monica in 2019. It's a long, but doable walk from any hotel near the 3rd Street Promenade.
This beautiful beach house is located directly on the sand! It has multiple spaces for multiple uses, and boasts an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean. There is ample parking, and a clear area for Uber/Lyft pick-up and drop off. Entrance is only on the West Side of the PCH, and trying to u-turn in-front of the entrance if you're going NorthBound on the PCH is dicey - so be aware. A lovely place to hold an event at.
Very cool spot. I was here for a LAVA Meet the VC event, basically speed dating for entrepreneurs and investors. The location is right on the water with cool outdoor seating and an old historic house. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area
They have a small heated outdoor swimming pool. If you go there for the beach, you just have to pay for the parking. There are several nets for volleyball, bicycle rental, and swings.
parking can be a pain but cool spot
Such a gorgeous place to swim by the beach! Also there is a splash pad area, game room and plenty of tables to sit down and enjoy the ocean views.
Very nice beachfront locale for events or public space outside. Like the modern look of it and slight distance from the craziness around Santa Monica Pier. Parking is kind of pricey though you might get lucky if someone has paid for your spot already
Wow. What a comfortable way to spend the day at the beach with the kiddos. Nice parking available, clean, some shade & cute little splash pad
Always have good time here. Very clean and well organized. Better than going to a resort sometimes. :)
The conference I attended and spoke at was hosted there. Great venue, beautiful area.
Awesome Beach adjacent pool. Tons of lounge chairs, umbrellas and shaded seating.
Also can bring your own food to eat poolside or buy food from there cafe.
♡
I've only just found this wonderful establishment and this area of Santa Monica and L.A. COUNTY and its really quite remarkable with a view that's amazing and all the good folks here are very friendly and professional and I'm looking forward to getting to know them and if you're at the restaurant you'll be treated like royalty!!!😎🤓
Love this place!
Have recommended it to many of my friends and family members.
Has showers, locker room, and even lockers you can use for the day if you bring your own lock.
Best swimming pool to hang out with the family near the beach.
Enjoyed two experiences here.
The Marion Davies Guest House and a concert by Jayme Stone and accompanying musicians.
Docents were quite fun and knowledgeable.
Beautiful sound and soulful performamces by each musician...bonus they all harmonized beautifully as well.
Love the canopies provided, playground, a boardwalk through the sand that leads almost all the way to the ocean waves (awesome!), and a splash pad that uses recirculated water (stinky but the kids don't mind)
Perfect place to go in the summer or on a beautiful day
Relaxing, lots of umbrellas, the pool is warm. There's a house you can tour, and you can bring food back from the restaurant next door and eat by the pool. Great for R&R.
Huge beach no seaweed, very enjoyable spot.
A great place. Be aware that the pool can sell out and parking is difficult. There it's plenty to do even if the pool sells out though. The splash pad is free.
Love going here. Even when busy its still enjoyable. Very affordable. Splash park for kids and playground right outside and right on a very nice part or Santa Monica beacj
Very clean and friendly staff, quiet place for family
The Annenberg is a gem of an option for beachgoers in Santa Monica. Although it's many blocks away from the SM Pier, it's not a secret, so be wary of big crowds -- especially during the weekend and during the summer.
That said, the offerings are great: a swimming pool, plenty of equipment for kiddos, nice public restrooms and changing areas, outdoor seating with public wifi, and a great spot to lock up your bike and grab a bite to eat with your feet in the sand.
Parking prices are not ideal. One cannot get change and the machine doesn't even apply the extra money to extra time. It just takes all your money. Location itself is great, of course.
Good guy rich person Walter Annenberg and his foundation have created this wonderful space for the public. A spacious pool, activity room, Marion Davies' guest house, and so much more. The staff is very accommodating and helpful with events occurring throughout the year. We saw a production by the group 'Four Clowns' at the guest house. Thank you Walter Annenberg for being a hero of the 1%.
Lovely eating outside during clear weather. Service and price are right. Parking challenging if comes late during day, but fine at night.
A cheap option to have family fun. Pack food and go to this beach. You pay a small fee to use the pool but it's totally affordable. Right on the beach.
perfect for us.....except the air conditionning which was VERY NOISY in my bedroom(i couldn t let it ON DURING THE NIGHT.so it was very HOT !!!!...IMPOSSIBLE TO SLEEP WITH THAT NOISE)..i have made a complain about this to the owner.....his answer: " .BUY EAR PLUGS "....very nice answer!!!!! ..otherwise THE HOUSE WAS GREAT....close to everything you need during your vacation....
Love this place... so sad is close for now but still can park there and go to the beautiful beach. Restaurant is also open.
Beautiful spot with historical significance. The original property was built by tycoon Randolph Hearst for Marion Davies. The original guest house remains on the property fully restored.
Great beach facilities. Immaculate condition, reasonable prices and excellent parking lot.
Great place! They supply everything to entertain my child. Clean bathrooms. Each access. Ocean was just 2 minutes walk
The best place (and probably the only one) to enjoy the beach and the pool in Los Angeles county. It's perfect for kids and families. It even has a playground.
What a fabulous public pool. Love the $2.50 senior price on Monday. Shade and great area besides the beautiful pool. Love the great life guards.
Pool ($10.00), beach volleyball, beach soccer, cafe on the beach, playground for kids and two cherries on top: 1) they have sun protector dispensers (free) and a social bicycle stop!!! Parking expensive but...
So easy, clean, well kept, stylish, family friendly. Reserve your parking and pool and walk right in! Will never go to the beach any other way!
Great facility open to the public. Cafe is an excellent value considering location, but be ready to wait around 30 minutes on warm weekends. The line is well managed.
Beautiful beach, and not too crowded! Sand can get extremely hot though, so definitely bring sandals with you!
Best place to do outside activities like yoga ,running and just to relax with your partner !
Love Love this place Best Kept Secret.
An area of rest in the middle of the beach activity set with tables and benches.
Great venue with an amazing view of Santa Monica beach. Went here for a friend's wedding, ceremony took place on the sand. Sunset was perfect.
Tips: You can make an online reservation for the next day, but MUST show NOT 11AM.
Get there early for the pool. Gets crowded quick and there could be a long wait.
Nice community but parking here is terrible… better to park at lot 9
Good jumping off point to walk to pacific park on the pier...1.7 mile trip...3.5 round trip...ate at cafe...decent food courteous staff...12 dollar all day parking...until 9 pm...
The original house is a nice place to hold an event, especially when it's sunny and hot out. Lots of sitting area and space in the home, and plenty of sand to spread out and get a tan.
Lots to do, take at least $100 for four people to snack on treats like mango, bacon wrapped hotdogs. Alot of the mobile vendors are $7.
Easily one of the most beautiful and meticulously maintained locations in the city of Santa Monica.
A beautiful wedding venue
Great facilities on the beach. Food at the cafe is delicious. Can be tough to get parking if you get there after 10.
Lol! These trolls got kicked out because they were being overly aggressive and rude to the other people around them. Believe me when I say that this place is a great place to hang out at. These one star reviews don’t mean anything. Please ignore them!
A great place. However the parking lot fills up quick.
DJL7 in the mix with a room full of young scientist!
Great place to reserve a beach cabana for a kid's birthday party. Splash zone is kind of sad, considering how nice everything else is there.
Our favorite place for a 1/2 day at the beach with little kids. Boardwalk all the way out to the water, a playground, showers, bathrooms and a restaurant.
One of the best parts about living in Santa Monica is that this beach house opened. Thank you Annenbergs, you have made an Incredible Gift To The City and to all Angelinos.
A fantastic place to have fun by the Santa Monica beach with a great view and plenty on activities within a few yards for kids and adults.
Parking can be tough. Small splash pad outside of pool and an arcade anyone can enjoy whether you are using the pool or not.
Lovely, clean, fun. Not for tots, unless accompanied by an adult, too deep.
Best kept beach secret. Rarely crowded, easy parking, walkway to the water, food available, play area for little kids, pool available but need to make reservations
I love coming here with my whole family when we do family beach days, a little pricey for adults, but totally worth it!
Enjoyed lunch at "Back at the Beach"
Nice playground with lots of toys for the kids, you don't have to worry about getting a sunburn they have sunscreen dispenser on site 😊 …
Family park and beach. With reasonably priced restaurant, swimming pool, kids playground. Weekend lifeguard on duty. Events as per prearranged reschedule.
We had a great time walking at the beach.!it was really clean. The small cafe nearby had good food and drinks
Great place to hang with the kids and have dinner at Back on the Beach afterward! Closed until memorial day
Expensive but awesome. Great place to park yourself for the day--you can swim in the pool, play in the game room, and make excursions to the beach.
$6 parking for the day. Less people than Santa Monica beach. More suitable for people to have a workout or just a walk.
Great place for a walk at the beach
Always a great time and perfect for kids and family, birthdays, etc. Easy parking, nice staff, clean facilities is always a plus.
I was enjoying the view of the sun going down and I tried to share the awe that filled my heart that moment, but I don't think it's possible for my knowledge is not enough to give a blind half deff stoner that ability.
Love this place, best of both worlds, pool and beach.reasonably priced and parking was only $12 for day.
Great place to take the family as there is no alcohol being served, a big plus is the pool area and the game room upstairs.
This is what American Socialism could be. Great Pool, great amenities, great atmosphere - for everyone. Why can't we have one of these every mile along the whole Southland?
Always nice to visit. Had a departmental get together beachside and forgot speakers for music, but they had a bluetooth set that did the trick.
Hourly parking at the beach, convenient place for families to get easy access to the beach with nearby amenities.
Really nice beach. Clean. With clean facilities. No shades, so bring your own. Difficult to find parking on a Saturday
Nice and clean facilities for kids. It gets crowded on hot days and holidays. Parking lot is not big. Gotta get here early for parking.
The best place in Santa Monica to spent your time with family. Nice, clean, you can grab some food and enjoy your time.
What a jewel of a place! Hard to park in the lot after 10:30-ish on a summer weekend, but worth the effort it takes to get there.
Clean and the animals look healthy. My 3 year old and 1 year old loved it!
Easy to access, wide spacious beach, volleyball, not too crowded, and a historic home to tour on weekends. What's not to love?
Wonderful place for enjoying their great amenities like pool, game room and splash pad area !
Gorgeous public property in Santa Monica. Parking, clean restrooms, a restaurant on site and great access to the Beach.
Just an overall great story
I didn't go inside the community center I just use the shower which is outside on the beach.
Meeting people, nice place on the beach, plenty of tables and parking. Anything on PCH can be challenging to get to due to traffic.
Really nice place to go with entire family. Parking is a bit challenging though, so go early!
YES YES YES ! Parking is alright .. should be more space but its nice and quite, love the playground and restaurant area. Very nice !
We were here for a private event, a beautiful space for that, so if you have a special event, check it out. Beautiful oceanfront location.
Fantastic docent led free tours. Took a group of seniors there. They loved it
What can you say...a beach house for the proletariat. Parking can be difficult during the summer. There are auxiliary lots a stone's throw away
Beautiful pool on the beach with great food and a playground next to it...what else can you wish for? Ocean and sand as far as you can see...
Very good place for recreation with children, nice pool, delicious food in the cafe, loved the game rooms, I recommend this place!
Ideal for organizational retreats.
Love this beach. Never fails to be hot during the summer days. Super clean too!
Excellent. If you have never seen the beach house, GO! It's history, put the place on your bucket list.
Beautiful beach with clean facilities
A community beach house... FOR FREE!!!!!??? This is nowhere in Los Angeles. It is an experience of a life time.. you must go.. pool and all.
#LuckyDBunny & @RobinHoodloom on IG love it
cool place, I've worked a couple of Bar Mitzvah/Bat Mitzvahs there. The kids love the Airbrush Art
One of the best parking place to enjoy Santa Monica Beach! It was one of the best hour of my life at the seashore!
Amazing beautiful view. Had our work retreat here. It was a blast. Facility is wonderful
Facilities are clean, conveniently located, and easy to use.
Lots of fun. Free tour with knowledgeable and friendly docents.
Great food and atmosphere. I would suggest salad dressing on the side for those watching your sodium and calories.
Love this place. Clean, fun right by the beach. Loving taking my family here.
Great kid area, nice bike path, very peaceful place with a prime location on the beach!
Great little beach house to tour. Docents were kind and informative. Free to public.
Great place to park. Might have to wait a little to find a spot
Its very friendly ..they have free sunscreen for visitors .and also provide life jackets for kids.and showers with soap ...
Beautiful place! Back on the beach cafe located on site is a great place to eat!
Great location. Fun playground for the kids. Convenient bathrooms and showers.
Great place for events! Location is perfect, plenty of parking, very friendly staff
Great views. Plenty of parking. All day parking cost around d 12 bucks. Amazing!!!
excellent place to spend a day. very limited parking
Lovely docent walked us through the story of Marion Davies on the most perfect breezy spring day at the beach!
This is the civilized way to go to the beach. Hit the beach, then cool off, swim in the pool, and rinse off in clean bathrooms.
Parking is a bit hard to get but the beach, splash pad, pool and cafe are great.
Stopped to use restroom. Parking was free for 5 minutes. Very nice of them to do that
What a great beach house with all the summer activities! You don't have to be a member of an exclusive club to enjoy the beach!!
Great location and decent prices for using the pool and other facilities. Great meeting space too.
Lovely, casual beachside restaurant. Good food and good, pleasant service. Closes at 3p.
A living landmark from William Randolf Hurst's Golden Days
Beautiful spot right near the water. Has wifi. Hard to access the main city on foot though.
Best place to eat on the beach.
A must-go during the summer - sign up for a space 3 days ahead of time and enjoy a day at the pool!
It's a great, convenient location to hold an event directly on the beach.
Great food! Great service! And the great view will be back when construction is done.
A great event space
Great little community ctr with a great pool for the family. Right on the beach so enjoy both.
It is the best beachy restaurant I know from it's comfort food (try pasts mama) to its salads.
Cool pool on Santa Monica beach. You can chill here on a hot day. 10$ for an adult.
Thank you to the City of SM for this lovely venue and entertaining and informative (often FREE) events. Can't beat the location!
Not a full size pool and no diving area, but unusually warm and noticeably bouyant. Quite relaxing.
Love it🍔👍 …
Friend had injured ankle and they provided beach wheelchair so friend could visit beach. Heath made it happen!
Great place to grab a bite on the sand.

Beautifully designed space right on the beach. Wish the restaurant was better!
They have cheeseburgers that are made to order and some of the best I've had!!!
And the staff is wonderful...😎🎶 …
Seriously, This place is like Disneyland on the beach. The Annenberg organization, supports/benifits the community.
Love their philanthropy.
very nice - straight at the beach, have a bite and the kids can play
Nice and clean place. They have a play ground for kids which was nice.
Decent food, great location. -1 star for price. +1 for location. Plenty of paid parking.
Great for kids, wooden walkway to the ocean so no burnt feet on hot days!
My first visit after many years of wanting to attend so many events and activities 🤗 finally happened and I hope to be a more frequent participant. …
Love to spent time here, parking space not too crowded when l visit it
Great venue for events.
Just a great beach experience.
Santa Monica beach's best kept secret! Park here. Enjoy the deck pathway
Not impressed. The blackened chicken taste like teriyaki

Wonderful place...pleasant, comfortable environment, great event venue
Great neighborhood pool & facility. Nice staff, and overall great experience.
A truly amazing and inspirational place
We used to play volleyball in front of the community center every Saturday and then use the pool.
Best day at the beach we had all summer - and we spent it in a pool
Easy (paid) parking and a wonderful section of the beach.
A treasure in every way, open to the public with interesting exhibits and classes. Marion Davies former home and it looks like it
Very nice beach. Kids had a blast.
Nice clean beach. Parking is not easy though.
This is definitely the hidden gem of Santa Monica Beach!
One of the best, most chill public places on the beach.
Best beach and pool setting in Santa Monica.

Very cool place. Need more adult hours.
Easy in/out parking, great pool, volleyball, and beach access.
I love the beach, I enjoy watching the sunset with my boos 😍😍 …
Looks like a very good if not excellent place to host an event...
Awesome place to go on weekends, especially with young children
My family enjoyed our outing in this beautiful area.
Wonderful place to go have a nice brunch with a friend.
Surprisingly great spot, gets crowded quickly in the summer
Good place once you can find parking.
Nicest beach nearby Santa Monica. I prefer it to the pier one.
Resort right on the beach seems a little weird to me. I don’t know....
Beautiful place and facility's. Paring is steep.
Why dinner area is still closed.
It is so unfair
Wonderful location and helpful staff
My favorite place for eat! Great food for that price
If you find a parking space it's great.
Great place to bring kids but can get crowded sometimes.
A great place to visit. Los Angeles needs more places like this.
The best way to do the beach with younger children.
Beat beach area on Santa Monica with playground, bathroom facilities, food.
It's Okay. Not much more you can say about it. You have seen better, you have seen worse.
Gorgeous, and open to the public, Why is this place not constantly packed?
Phenomenal venue and highly kid/ family friendly
Great place, bring your own food.
"The small cafe nearby had good food and drinks!
Very unfriendly lifeguards here and expensive wrist bands for pool activities etc.
Fun sun & dash bash with a visit to the Marion Davies guest house for nostalgia
