Reviews of Valley of Fire State Park
Stephanie Lall
Valley of fire State Park! Wow I can't even begin to describe the beauty of this place. Here is just a few pics of it. First of all it is the most peaceful and quiet place. It looks like it's not even real at all. The weather was just perfect and sunny. I would advise you to wear enclosed shoes and have some water on you if you decide to hike around. There are wildlife out here like snakes etc so be careful of the holes in the ground. Also make sure you have enough gas in the tank Because it's a long way to a gas station and cell service might not be the best out there.

This is one of my favorite parks in NV. This place is very unique, gorgeous, and different, with amazing rock formations and colors. On top of that, the hikes are nice and short and you can get easily achieve them in a day. I always pack a picnic basket with me to enjoy after a few hikes. Many picnic areas within the park. If you are lucky you will run into mountain goats. The visitors are fun to explore. They do have a water station you can refill your bottle. If you are not a fan of hiking then do the scenic drive. Also, the night skies here are awesome, especially on the full moon evening. You can get an annual state pass for $80 or else $10 for a day pass.

This place was amazing. My recommendation is to come early. The park is huge and you won’t want to rush the experience, you could be there all day and still not see it all. Overnight camping is permitted and there are plenty of day use areas perfect for a day long getaway! Make sure to look for Sheep as they are all over the park. Located only a short drive from Vegas, this is a must see!

Beautiful, breathtaking and worth seeing! Rent a car if you can. It’s better than buying tours because you control how long you spend there and where to take pictures. We got to see the mountain goats in their glory walking up and the down the mountains. Pictures don’t do this place justice, you have to see it to believe it. The weather at the different altitude was amazing too.

Exceeded my expectations for a state park. A couple of very nice hikes with beautiful views, a good visitor center with professional and friendly staff (yes, a junior ranger program is available :) ), well marked parking lots, landmarks, and trails. Definitely worth a visit if you are visiting Las Vegas and need a change. Just a 50 minute drive. Easy orientation, west-east is the main road with the Visitor Center in the middle and a road to the north. S great experience.

This a hidden gem - a must visit, especially if you are traveling from Vegas to Zion - a short detour that’s worth every bit. Spectacular views and short easy hikes. If you are visiting during summer be mindful of the weather and carry loads of water or fill up at the visitor center. Entrance is 15$ (2022) for private vehicle. Spend up to 3-4hrs to see most points

This place is absolutely amazing. The shapes and colors of the rocks are beautiful! When it gets hot the name really suits it well, it does feel like your whole body is on fire.
If you come around be mindful to bring plenty of water and snacks, comfortable cloths, and avoid being too exposed at peak hours of the day when it's the hottest.

Beautiful place to visit. Definitely must see if you visiting Nevada. Not crowded at all. Beautiful colors and rock formations and all of this for at a very low cost ! Entrance fee is per car. To fully enjoy this unique place - plan to stay whole day. During hot season go early in the morning to avoid the heat.

The interesting thing about this place it is a state park and not a national park. Valley of Fire is an amazing place to visit and has hits of Moab and Arches National Park. There is plenty to see and explore here and you could easily spend a few days if you wanted to hike all the major trails in the park. The main attractions are easy to get to and off the main road that runs through the park.
Most of the sights to require a little hiking and those with limited mobility may find some areas harder to get to. If you are able to get to the park in the early AM or late day you can get some amazing photos as that is when the best lighting is.

We visited for two days fairly last minute in February while waiting out a snowstorm in Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon for a planned trip that way, and it was by far the highlight of the trip for our three kids (9, 7, 3) who said they'd rather come back here than visit the Grand Canyon again. (Go figure!) Mostly because of the amazing chances to go scrambling and bouldering on all the hikes—they loved climbing every chance they got! It never got old watching them scramble up the giant sandstone boulders and cliffs that line every single hike in this gorgeous state park. The complexity of the scenery was really unmatched: red sandstone, limestone cliffs, shrub covered desert sand, white peaked mountains in the distance, all in one scene.
We stayed in our RV in Atlatl campground after snagging a spot on a weekday last minute and did Mouse's Tank, White Domes, and Rainbow Vista hikes, as well as some of the shorter little jaunts to overlooks and other spots. The February weather was perfect — sunny and clear and 60 degrees during the peak of the day. I can't imagine being here during the summer and as non westerners, we'd definitely avoid the summer months entirely. Hiking on the sand was always hard but nearly every trail also had rocks near the sandy trails that you could walk along instead. We live on the east coast but if we come back this way, we will definitely spend another day or two at the Valley of Fire—definitely a highlight of our most recent western RV adventure.
State parks are always the hidden gems, and this one is no exception.

One of my all time favorite state parks! It is a desert out here but it has life and is so beautiful. The sand and rocks are multicolored, but most of it is red so it looks like you're on Mars. It's truly mind blowing to come here and if you can only do one park or pick this or the Strip, 100% I would recommend this. There is no place like Valley of Fire State Park.
Tip: make sure to fill up your gas tank all the way before coming out here because it is far off the main road, in the desert.

This a beautiful, large state park with great view points, scenic drives and hikes. We went to the park in September during higher heat so a few hikes were closed for the summer. There were some beautiful short hikes, such as Rainbow Vista. We only did the White Domes Loop part way due to the heat. It was stunning! The first scenic drive as you enter from the West entrance was really beautiful. Although part of the road is gravel, it is well maintained. The Visitor's center was educational.
I highly recommend this park (especially if you want to get out of Vegas!) You can easily spend a whole day here!

Breath taking, the Seven Wonders trail is my favorite, although I took a different route, the road less traveled you could say and ended up getting lost until right before night fall. Highly recommend marking your parked car in your maps app before exploring if you plan to go off the designated trails. The white dunes were awesome too, such a beautiful hike. Everything is so scenic and this is the biggest park in Nevada so there is so much room to explore and also have no one around if you’re looking for some serenity. I actually first visited the park this month and have went twice since! Definitely worth the drive from Vegas. You should check it out!

Valley of Fire is a beautiful desert landscape with neat rock formations. I visited here a couple times in the past. Valley of Fire has great hiking trails. I recommend a visit. It is perfectly secluded for a fun day outdoors. Also is great brief stop if you’re passing through!
Helen Di Domenico
Beautiful national park. Stunning landscape, perfect if you're also a photographer to capture the natural beauty. We didn't spend as long here as we would have liked. Make sure you take plenty of water with you as no where that we could find to fill up within the park. Even saw some native Indian etchings in the rock.

Looking for beautiful scenery of Nevada mountains? The Valley of Fire Park in Las Vegas is an amazing trails of whinnying roads and views. There’s an fee for park entrance but if you are an Veteran your entry is free. There’s so much to explore in this State Park. Check to see if the senior citizens state pass will allow you to get into this park. This Park will appeal to all ages. The perfect time is early spring and late fall when it’s not so hot.

Took our Turo rental for a cruise to this geographical and historical gold mine of beauty! Loved exploring and learning more about the red rocks out here Nevada. So much rich history and fresh air. I recommend going to catch all the sites and sunrises/sunsets. Great views and time with family and loved ones. Never know when you'll be able to see something like this again! It's a must see if your close to Vegas.
Tammy McCullough
BEAUTIFUL!!! The colors are amazing and the hikes are nice! There's soft sand so don't expect the walks to be easy, but they're are several areas that aren't tough. The petroglyphs are fun to try to read. Amazing photos taken here! REPORT AND GRAFFITI!!! Don't vandalize what's left of the land's history!
Utkarsh Jaiswal
We didn't plan to visit the state park bit it was on our way to Cedar City and I'm glad we decided to make a u-turn to go back 40 minutes because the visit even though short was totally worth it.
We were able to hike the fire cave rocks and kinda slipped and hurt but like I said the views were totally worth it.
Something totally different than other forms of erosion, these formations were formed by the wind.
Also the Petroglyphs made us feel aliens definitely visited the earth ;)

Lovely small park. Good hiking. I would love to go back and camp there. Hiking trails are not clearly marked in some areas, easy to wander off because of this, you’ll see many footprints going off in random directions so be careful to not get lost. Take water with you!! Very dry, even when it is not hot, you can still get dehydrated.
Take lots of pictures! Don’t leave trash behind, and remember to be friendly to people around you!

If you're in Nevada, specifically visiting Vegas you have to take this short trip to Valley of 🔥 and I posted pictures here me and my friends riding bikes through this state park was an epic ride! Here's what you need to do:
1. Go to: Eagle rider motorcycle rental and pick a BMW R18 (they have plenty of others to choose from but this is only $79 for a day). Grab a friend who can ride a motorcycle and ride to Valley of Fire, it's about a 40 minute ride from dealer to park entrance.
2. Enjoy red rocks in the valley of fire, pull over and snap some pictures or keep riding, because the experience is surreal. Lots of straits and Twisties.
3. Thank me later or not. But you won't regret it!
Oh and bonus: you can ride to Lake Meade and finish the trip by going to Hoover Dam. That's your all day riding in the most memorable and enjoyable way.

This is one of the most beautiful places we have visited. If you're not from Nevada you have to pay $15 to get in and throughout the park there are plenty of places to park so you can hike there are so many great photo opportunities and the hiking trails are relatively easy. My son had the best time. It was windy and I can't imagine how hot it gets over the summer.
Honeymooners Offroad Adventures
Gorgeous views, hikes and trails of all levels. Spent a day checking everything out. There are two campgrounds that are first come first serve. One group campground that you must reserve at least 48 hours in advance. We camped about 10 miles outside of the park on BLM land for free. Definitely a must if you are in the area.
Kelly Marin
Wow! Just Wow! I have no idea what to expect but this exceeded all of my expectations. It was absolutely gorgeous. The landscape is like nothing we have seen before. So many changes in scenery as we drove through.
The best way to see this park is by driving around to the different stopping points.
We did get out and hike some too!
However it was really hot the high was only in the upper 70s but with the sun beating down it was very toasty. We had water, hats, sunscreen and we dressed right but trekking through the sand was rough.
We would definitely come back here but plan to come on a less hot day so we can hike and explore more. So much to see. We didn’t even scratch the surface and spent 5 hours.
There are lots of covered picnic tables which is a must have for the sun and heat. We enjoyed our picnic lunch in one of these covered picnic tables.

We absolutely loved this state park! The majority of the sights are right off the road within a 1/4 mile. The featured hikes are only about 1.5 miles. Beautiful red rock like Moab. Two lane roads threw out the park. Some sections of road are in bad shape as the sandy landscape shifts underneath it. Lots of deep dips on the road to twin domes. Ovesize vehicles and RVs will be tricky to navigate and park but not impossible on a less crowded day. Avoid holidays and high traffic days if you want a prayer for parking. Beautiful features all around. Hikes are beautiful. Bathrooms scattered through parking areas. Enjoy!
Cruising with the Clemons
Beautiful state park, not sure why it isn't a national monument! This place is worth a visit if you are in the Vegas area. It's an unusual geologic feature from the surrounding mountains and really is striking out beautiful it is. Be on the lookout for big horn sheep, they are all over the park!
Leonor R.
An absolute must-see!! A hidden gem in the desert. It's about an hour from Las Vegas. It's worth a short detour if you're headed to St. George and Zion. We went in late October and the weather was perfect, it wasn't too hot. I recommend going in October or winter. It's a state park, so it's about $15 to get in. It wasn't crazy busy during the week.

If you are craving to see nature and want to step away from Vegas crowded streets, you don’t need to go far! Just an hour drive approx there is valley of fire state park. You can spend 5-6 hours here if you choose to fo hikes. I did the mouse tank , rainbow vista hikes and both were easy and beautiful. You can actually drive around the whole park without the need of hiking to see the red rocks . I loved this place and please don’t forget to carry snacks and lot of water with you - one gallon per person
Brandy Bradfield
Great stop not far from Vegas. Would.be amazing camping. Wasn't super crowded so you get to enjoy nature with out feeling rushed. Def a most due. Grap a picnic and see the landscape. The best slot canyon we saw on are whole trip!!
Bill Pfleger
Amazing state park with unique geological features and plenty of hiking approachable to just about anyone. So much to see here but if you can only manage one hike on your trip I recommend taking the Fire Trail to Seven Wonders Trail to White Domes. Makes a great loop than can be done in about 3 hours depending on how many times you stop for pictures.
Bryan Simmons
Such amazing colors and beautiful rock formations. We got a late start and only saw about half of the park before we ran out of sunlight. Plan an entire day, or maybe 2 if you want to hike the trails available at each stop.
Anna West
Amazing! My third time here. Do a big circle starting with Fire Wave, then Pink Canyon, then continue to White Dome Slot Canyon, and then just cut across back to the parking lot. 3.5 miles or so. Hit all major spots. We did a group hike on my 50s birthday. Was something to do during the day the next day after the celebration!
Jorge Tellez
Incredible place with a great natural views, a place to explore prefect form hiking. Take in mind at least 6hrs to visit all the hiking tracks, winter is a great option to avoid the exhausting weather. Wear a proper clothes and shoes for hiking and bring with you enough water, snacks and electrolytes.
Neha Walter
This place is gorgeous. It was a lovely drive from Vegas. The drive is about 45 minutes. It's definitely worth it. Going in, they gave us a map. Clear directions of where to go. The map was helpful since there was little cell service. Wear comfortable shoes.
Jonathan Peyton
Cool place to drive through or spend some time. We drove through after our Hoover Dam tour. Clean restrooms. Neat boulders to climb on. Saw some mountain sheep. Did not take the road to the visitor center - there are probably some areas we missed but overall great experience.
Nyor Mirror
Valley of Fire State park is just under an hour from Las Vegas. My son and I visited
Red Rock and Valley of Fire on our way to Hurricane, Utah. The rock formations looked great especially at sunset. I enjoyed seven sisters and fire canyon. My favorite formations were the “Beehive’s”. I also was moved by the sad story of Sergeant John Clark.
Open sunrise to sunset with a $15 entry fee (10 for NV residents.) Several trails for hikes. We were there approximately 2 hours without any hiking. I would definitely recommend.
JD Offield
A very cool place to go drive, hike and enjoy nature. Not only that but the history of this place is amazing. We went through in Aug and it was 110F so bring water, but in the shade it's pretty cool, you might need a jacket. Bring the family and enjoy mother nature.
Seher Brickan
It's about 40 minute drive from Las Vegas. There are few trails and each and every one of them worth seeing. Pack snacks and plenty of water. View is spectacular in almost all areas. Great for kids as well.
Jennifer Riccio
I went for first time with a friend and took about 5 hours. We started at west entrance and ended up a t the end at east entrance. Some trails are sand and rock. One requires to do stairs to see petroglyph up close. Valley of Fire is first and biggest NV State Park. There are scenic route and photo op spots even if you cannot do any of the trails through the park and clearly labeled. Most of the park has no shade and in direct sun. I recommend to go when not hot out and bring sunscreen, hat, cooler with ice cold drinks, and snacks/food. There is only water fountain at visitor center no food and no drink anywhere else unless outside of the park and takes least 20 mins or so to gas station that sells those so bring in case. We had so much fun and I would go back again. Nature is truly beautiful. Some highlight photos.
Brian Watson
Visit on a cool but sunny day. The other worldly landscape here is a must see while in the Vegas area. Just about an hour outside of the city it is close enough to see and still have time to get back for some fun at night. I recommend renting a convertible or a slingshot for the day so you have an unobstructed view as you drive around the park. There are so many places to stop for photos you could spend all day here if you wanted to.
Aurelia Ann Farinas Schanzenbacher
Love this place! Great rock formations and wonderful hikes. Since it's only 45 miles from Vegas, expect to see alot of foot traffic. There are 2 great campsites located in the valley. We stayed at Atlatl campground. Some sites with water and electricity. The valley isn't large and you can see and do most the hikes on a weekend. Big horn sheep are prevalent there and if you stay a weekend at the campground you will definitely see them.
Mariella Carillo
Great State Park 1 hour from Vegas. Since this is a Nevada State Park, the National Park passes will not work here. We came early and there were hardly any people around. Easy to get nice photos without bystanders.
Debra Adimey
It was so beautiful, the entrance was open and we paid, put the sticker on our rear view mirror. Didn’t make it into the welcome center, next time. Really enjoyed seeing the long horn sheep. We will go again! Would be great for camping!
Michael Sell
This was such a cool stop on our way from Vegas to Zion.
Lots of interesting things to see including wild life, petrified logs, a visitor center with lots of cool exhibits, and some nice trails. The sand is baking and as one of our crew learned, strapping on you 4x4 sandals won’t keep the hot sand off your toes.
Lots of great history and just a cool experience.
Don't fuss It's Russ
Absolutely loved our hike. We booked thru love hikes and Matt took us off the main path and experienced an abundance of amazing views. It was very hot so get there early in the summer time
Keith Wegner
This is a great place to take the family! Make sure your bring water, it gets really hot here and there’s not a lot around you. This is a large area to visit and there are roads that will take you to different formations. You will also find descriptions for the various areas you can visit.
There is a tourist center with a store here also and a great place to sit and enjoy ice cream while you take in the sights and the kids play. They also sell souvenirs as well that are pretty nice.
It gets busy so I would come early as well! There is a lot to see and do here so make sure you stop in while you’re visiting Las Vegas, it’s a great place to see and only an hour out! Just a quick tip it’s also got a cool sign with a pull off to take pictures at for memories.
Tony Watkins
Loved this area. Great place to hike but please bring plenty of water. Nice scenery. Lots of places to pull over, get out and take pictures. Hiking is great too.

Love the desert. First time to The Valley of Fire. Very beautiful rock formations and petroglyphs.
Went in May and the weather was quite pleasant. There is a fee to get in. Nice campgrounds. Bathrooms are available. Wear good closed toe walking shoes as the sand is soft and a bit hot. Plenty to see….bring water and a picnic…White Dome has shaded tables and restrooms. Don’t miss out on seeing The Cabins!
Veronica Hunter
The park has signs warning hikers about the July heat around 115 F ...to stay hydrated.
We chose to hike early in the morning to avoid the strong sun rays. Purified water with minerals and electrolytes ( Alkaline 88 ) and fresh fruits kept us moving in comfort. Undergarments, socks and clothing the whisks away the sweat and dries quickly with long sleeves and pants protected our limbs from sunburn. The large red rock formations on sandy soil with the blue sky and puffy white clouds made it an enchanting trail.

It was our first experience visiting this state park. We are locals ,so we will definitely be back to visit other parts here. As it's lots of land to cover, we had lots of fun taking pictures and hiking some trails along the way. Here are some pictures of the hundreds we took.

Valley of Fire State Park has long been a "bucket list" item of mine and I finally got to go in April. I went via a tour company, mainly because we were not driving on our Vegas trip and thankfully they provided transportation. I don't even know where to start, it was so breathtakingly gorgeous out there. It is unreal to me places like this exist. The formations are incredible, like Elephant Rock & Seven Sisters. The petroglyphs are a sight to behold, a time capsule and it's amazing that through environmental changes and mankind's misdeeds that they're still in such amazing shape. There's bathrooms at all the trailheads we visited, very handy considering the amount of water we drank. The Visitor's Center was informative, cool (temperature), and had a well stocked gift shop with food items a little more substantial than dry snacks. We stopped at the Rainbow Vista, an incredible sight and while walking up a huge formation, looking down it was so disheartening to see people have carved initials into the rock. How anyone could deface something so beautiful is beyond me, our job is to preserve these places, leave no trace. Don't be an a-hole. We didn't get to spend nearly as long as I would have liked there, but I'm hungry for more and can't wait to go back.

Incredible landscapes and views! Hikes are easy to moderate, and roads are accessible and maintained. Lots of opportunities to see desert wildlife (saw two different herds of bighorn sheep!) The park can get quite packed as the day goes on, so make sure you get there early. It's about 1hr from Las Vegas so if you have the chance to stay in the Moapa Valley the night before and head out from there, that gives you more time to enjoy the park from sunrise onwards.
Olivia Wright
One of the most beautiful places! God definitely put his paint brush to work here. Only con is that the line is long to get in to the park. We went around 11 and the line wasn't that bad. When we left the line was about 3 hours long to get in. $15 per car to get in
Justus Witty
Valley of fire is better than half the national parks I’ve been to. It is amazing and you have to come here, though I’d recommend during the fall, spring, or winter as it can get really hot. I’ve been here half a dozen times and it’s always worth exploring! It kinda feels like another planet!
Jadin Ruben
I'm From Wisconsin so it was amazing to see all these wonderful Nevada dessert colors, first off there is an entrance fee but that is it, no need to buy tickets online. Also this park has some Picnic areas and Restrooms so that's a big bonus,
But those aren't why you're coming out all this way, you're probably here to see all the stunning rocks and geology of America's Southwest.

Perfect 1 day trip from Las Vegas. Of you are in Vegas for whatever reason, try to get one day out of your schedule, rent a car if you don't have one and visit this place. A short drive from Las Vegas, you can spend the day starting morning from Vegas and reach back in the evening to enjoy the night at Vegas.
The landscape is what gives the state park it's name "Valley of Fire State Park". It seems like every thing around you is on fire due to the dark red/orange color you see. As soon as you enter the park, you feel you are somewhere else. Enjoy the drive and the views along with short stops in between. There will be lots of viewing areas of different types of rocks and landscape. Visit every place if possible and take the hikes. You will love it for sure.
Normally it gets very hot during the day to plan accordingly. Definitely worth visiting.
Craig PoVey
Chances are 5 stars but I was there on a holiday weekend and people can be pigs in the facilities. I suspect park staff keep up with cleaning needs on a normal day. The park is amazing with several options from just driving, to hiking or riding a bike in a beautiful unique area. It's well marked and a trip to the visitors center is a good place to start. I can't understand why the campgrounds can't get with the times and allow reservations. Driving into the heart of the park only to find there's no vacancy is inconvenient for people and hard on the environment.
Chris Thompson
Thoroughly enjoyed hiking through the valley for two days.
Lots to see including Native American writing in the walls.
Bring water!
We weren't able to stay until sunset however we were told that's really when the Valley of Fire lights up
אחד שאין לו שם
Gorgeous, incredible how the sand contrast the rest of nature surrounding it. The mountain goats were pretty awesome as well. It's worth the the hour commute from LV. In-state plates are $10 out-of-state are $15.

It feels like walking on a different planet in some places. I enjoy the short Mouse's Tank hike. The petroglyphs are stunning.
The last time I went the tank was empty. Quite a few people each time I go.
Christopher Brasel
Given that it is only about a 45 min drive from the strip, this is an absolute must do if you can rent a car. Unbelievably beautiful. None of the trails are too long. Bring lots of water! They also have water and food at the visitor center. The petroglyphs were so cool.
How it is Liz
A drive through The Valley of Fire feels a bit like being transported to another planet. The rock formations and colors are phenomenal! I highly recommend taking this drive in a convertible. It doesn't have to be a Bentley but some sort of open air vehicle to feel the full experience of the sun beating down and the wind whipping through your hair. Please note if you don't have any hair definitely wear a hat!! It gets hot out there!! Very little traffic in most areas and an opportunity to pick up some speed while driving. A perfect destination easily accessible from Las Vegas!
Usha Dawn
If you're in Vegas and not into gambling then you have things to see around here. Beautiful vista points to see different kinds of sedimentary rocks from sunrise to sunset and the colors change based on which time of the day you are here. We enjoyed hiking a few places and climbing high to capture pictures.
Tammy Harrigan
We did a quick stop here on our was from Vegas to Utah. It was exit 75 on I-15 North. The park was only about 30 minutes off the highway. Crazy how red everything was considering the endless brown views for miles leading up to this area. Saw some beautiful formations and even some big horn sheep. Wish we could have spent more time exploring.
Walter Rothe
Certainly a 5 star experience. Worth the time! You can discover amazing rock formation and stunning colors all over the place. There is a nice visitor center where you get all the information you need.
Con F
You don't need to hike a lot to access the pictures I posted. Very accessible via car. Fun to explore and climb up rocks. Beautiful views as you can see.

If you are anywhere around Vegas, this Valley of fire is a must! The best way is to rent a car and enjoy the full day 💙Better to start early morning, as it is prohibited to be in the park after the sunset. Make sure to visit Petroglyph wall and iconic photo shot places. In order not to drive the same way back, you can drive around and leave it from another entrance
Joe Welsh
The panoramic view leading to Valley of Fire is gray rock.. gray rock.. gray rock.. and then BOOM!.. you turn the corner and nestled in the center is this terrifically red rock that gives you that "whoa" moment.
That moment sustains as you drive through. There are short hike opportunities throughout the park.
Entrance fee is more than reasonable considering the features.
J.L. Kipfmiller
Absolutely georgious!! Honestly it will take more than a single visit to see it all. Some of the trails are vigorous, wear boots for the sand at White Domes. Make sure to see some of the amazing petroglyphs. Park day for non residents is 15 per car. Worth the price. Come early, lots to explore and the park closes at dusk.
Heather Boswick
This is WORTH the drive. WORTH to see. Seriously, beautiful. While staying in Vegas, we drove all the way out to Death Valley. We also came here for the day. This park is JUST as stunning as Death Valley, if not more. Beautiful, untouched, natural desert. Just stunning. We loved all the rock formations, colors, and cacti. Plan to spend a entire day here- there is PLENTY to see (and hike)
Bob Huber
The Valley of Fire, state of Nevada's 1st state park is one of those special places in the Las Vegas area that doesn't get much publicity. If you're a local, that may be a good thing. It's a little less that an hour from downtown Las Vegas. Makes for a good half day adventure. The Visitors' Center can help you plan to see the things you want to see. The huge fiery red sandstone rock formations on both sides of the trail you're on are at times breath taking. If you look closely in one of my photos, you can see a small group Big Horn Sheep, the State Animal of Nevada
SKnari
Another great state park to visit in NV! We arrived around noon and there was a long line to enter the park. You may want to plan coming earlier to avoid the line. Ton of hiking opportunities, don’t miss it.
Rick Rhay
Valley of Fire State Park is full of beautiful sights of incredible geology and thousands of years of history. Key sights to see are the Atlatl Rock, White Domes trail, and Fire Wave. There is too much to detail, but avoid hiking during the hottest times of the year, and always carry more water than you think you'll actually need.
Laura Ramirez
This state park is beautiful and it’s only about an hour away from Las Vegas. There were a variety of hikes, all from different levels. Despite the fact that it was almost 100 degrees, our hikes were amazing. And the best part was that it wasn’t overcrowded with people. Bae had a blast discovering all the writings on the wall.
Jennifer Sturgeon
We went on a popular busy holiday type of day so it took 45 minutes to get in. No active duty military discount at this park. Great hiking trails! Highly recommend it.
Tim
A great park to visit, if you have the time you should spend a few days here just to see how the sunrise and sunset paints the surroundings. One of the best desert or southwestern parks you will ever see. Hike or bike you have to go and visit this gem of Nevada.
R P
Short drive outside of Vegas, this place has some great views and is very serene. The abundance of color/textures is also amazing. Pack good shoes and water and enjoy the scenery.
Larry Bessie
We did not expected a state park is that good. The biggest draw is you could interact with the rocks, caves up close and personal. Great hikes in the white dorm canyon trails
T McCarthy
We considered the Grand Canyon but Valley of Fire was more accessible for the whole family. You can enjoy the sights from the comfort of the car... Or try one of the more challenging hikes. There are things to see everywhere. Don't miss the big horn Rams!
Tom Redman
Majestic red rock formations. Feels like you could be on another planet. Ample picnic areas. Too hot for hiking in summer. Visitor center is stocked pretty well with water, firewood, snacks, etc. Small gift shop. Big horn sheep roam area seem unafraid with people.
Jessica Gniedziejko
omg!! this place is so worth your visit if you are in the area!! it is definitely made more for an all day trip, but there are so many hiking trails and amazing views to see!! it was absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the time to visit!
Dadhich Patel
I visited this place in April 2022. I spent half day. I was going from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon, on way to Hoover dam I visited. Park is huge, so make sure how much time you want to spend. I miss calculate it and run out of time, so I didn't have enough time to see Hoover dam. If you have few hours then drive thru without stopping. There where few walking trail, but not marked properly and you have to walk in uneven sandy walk way. Not at all easy walking, in hot summer. Driving in side is better than walking.
Angie D
Absolutely beautiful! So scenic and lots of information at the visitor center. Definitely worth going to if you wanna get away from the strip and do something different. Did a few hikes here and it was definitely a day trip from the strip.
TURKEY RED
With so many stops for sights and hikes you can't be disappointed. We stopped at the bee hives, seven sisters, elephant rock, and mouses tank. All were well worth the explore. There is a great picnic area at the seven sisters and we enjoyed a packed lunch there. They do have a few charcoal grills if you prefer to cook. Some of the stops have pit toilets available. The visitors center has regular bathrooms.
Marc Shoemaker
This park was an absolute joy to visit! So many trails to stop and look at all the different formations in the rocks. Come early and spend the entire day just a scratch the surface.
Ms & Mr Right
We decided to do this as a day trip from Las Vegas and I wish we had more time to explore. This place was absolutely beautiful. Everything in the park is very well mapped out. Trailheads are clearly marked. We did not have a chance to do everything in the park with all the hikes, but all the drive through places to visit we were able to do. If you have the chance to visit, I would do so.
Max Bagley
Unbelievable place to visit. Expect to be there a full day to see and enjoy every sight and hike you can go on. $15 entry to non residents. Make sure to take enough water and food with you as there isn't anywhere to get any once you are in
HC Seetoh
Wow. This place must be seen with your own eyes. An easy 1 hour drive from Las Vegas it has history, archaeology, geology, flora and of course stunning desert scenery. The turn off from the highway to the park entrance itself is an enjoyable scenic drive. Arrive before sunrise and find a good spot to take your Instagram photo. Take a hike before the sun makes it too challenging. Stop at the visitor center for a great geology and history lesson. The park can be covered in 2 hours or 5 if you want to see all sites. Stay overnight and get a stunning desert experience with the night sky.
Lorraine Rodriguez
Finally made it here in April after seeing all the beautiful pics online and it didn't disappoint! We started by visiting the visitor center, and then headed to the Fire Wave. Myself along with my husband and 3 kids, youngest 5yrs old started it at 10 am. We took 9 water bottles with us. It was sooo hot! There was one little area where u can sit that had some shade and then after that there's no cover! You're fully exposed. The wave is so amazing to see, but my kids were sooo hot we didn't take many pics. We headed back, pouring water bottles all over our heads and bodies. I was dying. We finally made it back to the shaded area and rested a bit.. by then we had 2 water bottles left. Thankfully a gust of wind started up and we made it back to our truck.
Please please take enough water if you do this hike.
The rest of the park was pretty cool. We climbed the steps to see the petroglyph, we seen the beehives, petrified logs, arch rock, bud sadly missed Elephant Rock. My kids loved exploring the area by arch rock. We also seen a lot of big horn sheep.
Tom Haight
A great state park. Easy to reach from Las Vegas. Breathtaking red rock formations. Challenging hikes with well-marked hiking trails. This is absolutely worth a visit if you're in the area. Don't miss it.
Nancy McHenry
Incredible desert landscape. It's located less than an hours drive from the strip. If coming for the day, bring lots of water, hat, and sunscreen. Then you'll be prepared for a fantastic day of exploring.
MïMï Mi
The reviews are accurate here! This place is stunning and you can definitely spend a whole day here. There are many different places to stop and hike. I will definitely being going back again. I can't wait to take my company that comes to visit me!
Marcinda Rickrode
Absolutely incredible beauty and a fun place to hike. Definitely was glad we started our hike earlier in the morning and took a lot to drink as it was very warm by noon even at the end of February. Surprised it’s not a national park, so beautiful. The pink canyon and the slot canyon were some of my favorite spots
Nathan “Nate” Underwaterguy
Such an amazing place! Friendly staff! Beautiful views. I had an absolutely wonderful time checking this place out with my family! If you're ever looking to see natural beauty in Nevada. Check this place out. You will not be disappointed! I guarantee you that! Cheers!
Tammy
This state park has it rockin!
Elephant rock, petrified wood, slot "canyon", rock arch, "the wave", old movie location, petroglyphs, scenery, big horn sheep!
We did Mouse Tank trail late day and the color was magnificent!
A not to miss little park!
Julio Lainez
Great RV sites with amazing views, individual water and electric hookups, and clean restrooms. Cell service is pretty bad. Download maps ahead of time. Lots of amazing hikes.
Anthony Woo
Wow! So to be fair i am not an experienced hiker nor have i done many adventures in the dessert like this so to me this was spectacular just getting out of the busy city of vegas.
For a 1 hour drive it was well worth it. You can spend as little or as much time as you like in this park for 15$ for non nevada residents.
We spent about 4 hours stopping at pretty much every sight and took 1 hike to the fire wave.
Everyrhing was just so wow! Well maybe beside the arch which was a little under whelming.
The hike was easy. The map they gave us at the entrance was very detailed with trails and distances and aprox time it should take.
This was definitely one of my highlights going to vegas!
Melystikal
Make sure when you come to Vegas you make time to come to this amazing state park. Beautiful scenic views and wildlife on sight. I got to see rams and cool insects. Didn't get to hike to the famous fire wave but got to check out some really cool random spots with no people around. Visitor center available with small museum and restrooms. Entrance fee was $15.
Juan Rodriguez
Absolutely amazing! We had such a great time and the weather and views were wondeful! Definitely recommend this state park, if you're staying in Las Vegas pack a lunch and spend a great time on great short hikes and epic scenery!
Amy Garcia
Very unique campground. You are nestled in the red rocks and each spot is different. You may see a big horn sheep snacking on the shrubs. The campground fills up so you have to get there very early. It can be noisy due to the spots being close together. Nice area if you have kids.
MInot Robotics
Very neat park, if you are a hiker you could spend a few days here. Alot of neat rock areas, we say longhorn sheep, and many birds and small animals.
Ross
Absolutely beautiful scenery. Highly recommend visiting if you're in the Las Vegas area. Even the 45min - 1hr drive was interesting and scenic. Beautiful hiking opportunities, scenic roads and opportunities to take photos everywhere you look.
Lieren
Very beautiful park with great explanations. It costs 10 $ for Nevada vehicles and 15 $ for other vehicles from other states. Better bring exact change, the automat doesnt always work and the fallback System requires you to put money in an envelop.
irene esquivel
Oh such a great beautifull place to go see. It's only about an hour or bit more from Las Vegas but the drive is beautifull going up there. Just got a bit disappointed when we got there, a person was flying his drone when at the gate entrance it said no drones and also you seen graffiti on the petroglyphs, also there is signs that says no rock climbing and we seen to guys climbing on the rocks to take pictures. This all got me mad that I had to tell those men to get off the rocks due to signs that says please don't climb on any of the rocks. Anyway it's a beautifull place to see so please go see but be nice to our beautifull Nevada, please keep its beauty as it is.
Vernon Chang
Many peeps wanted to explore the famous Grand Canyon but it could take up to 2-3 hours of driving each way which could be too time consuming.
But no worries, I highly recommend you to visit the "Valley of Fire". It's only a short 30-40 minute drive, and you get to enjoy the scenic route to check out some of the most craziest red rocks, dry sand and slope & mountains in the world.
It's a hidden gem!
For only $10 USD per vehicle, you get to stay in your vehicle and drive around the loop, checking out the red rocks, various rock formations, wildlife animals such as deer and dry sand. You feel like you are on another planet.
If you want to get out of the vehicle, there are stops that you can park and walk around and explore. You can touch the sand, climb up to the rocks and check out different perspectives and appreciate the mother nature.
Highly recommended. I think this is a worthwhile visit coz it's close by the Vegas Strip while you can experience nature without needing to drive so far to Grand Canyon if you don't have much time.
Alexis Pickeral
I love this state park! Visited while in Las Vegas and glad we did! The red rock is stunning, hikes are fun and we even saw bighorn sheep!
Leslie Vanessa
beautiful rock formation. definitely one of my favorite places to visit during spring or fall as the weather is more tolerable. The facilities are clean and very well maintained, and the price is very modest ($ 10 for Nevada residents and $ 15 for non-locals)
Mary Connole
Beautiful drive. We saw Petroglyphs at Atlatl Rock and the Cabins. We took a group of family visiting from Utah. Our only complaint is that the Visitors Center closes too early. At 4 pm it should still be open to receive visitors. All in all a fun and amazing afternoon.
J Lo
Surreal. Amazing. Breathtaking. We arrived to Las Vegas Airport en route to The Grand Canyon in Arizona, which we loved but not ideal for a family friendly hike down to the canyon. The Grand Canyon is an awesome famous place but the Valley of Fire is, in my opinion, more for people who are looking for a hike, "touching" the rocks, sand, get sweaty, and get the family out for some outdoor activity. The Grand Canyon is great for pictures from above, and most trails down to the canyon are hard to say the least. As a result. we cut out Grand Canyon trip by 1 day. So we headed back to Las Vegas with 1 day to spare. Searching online for a place to visit we learned of the Valley of Fire. We got lucky. We were pleasantly surprised of the stunning family friendly landscape at Valley of Fire. I cannot believe we never heard of this place. So many trails. Some short, some long. We hiked the Fire Wave trail, but check the reviews as there are many. Our took about 1.5 hr with 2 little kids. Let me say it again - Surreal. Amazing. Breathtaking and ideal for family with kids. All for $15.00 entrance fee per car. That's as good as it gets.
Michael Lynch
I visited Valley of Fire State Park about 10 days ago. This park is amazing. This was my first visit to VoFSP and my first experience hiking in sand. The park was not very crowded upon my arrival (9AM on a Tuesday). I hiked several trails including Mouse Tank, Rainbow Vista, and White Domes Loop. White Domes Loop was my favorite because of the brief walk through the slot canyon. That was an amazing experience.
I drove by Arch Rock. The arch is very small and easy to miss if you're not looking for it.
I walked the stairs up to Atlanti Rock which was really cool.
I spent about 4 hours in the park because I needed to get back to Vegas. With a few more hours I would have enjoyed hiking several more trails. Maybe next time!
JP Allen
This is a really nice state park within easy driving distance of Las Vegas. There are plenty of easy trails that take lass than an hour in an out as well as longer hikes for more experienced hikers.
Ameir Tahir
The best park in Nevada. It's surreal. Nowhere looks like it. And is so quiet. So peaceful. Wow. If you wanted to be wowed, come
John B
Great fun, great views. Definitely recommend coming here at least once. It’s definitely a great escape from the city (if you’re visiting Las Vegas).
Carol Copeland
Always enjoy this beautiful canyon. Be sure to get there. Prefer this time of year as not Hot and can enjoy the hiking areas more
Carola Manriquez
Been here a couple of times and still haven’t been able to see the whole park. Definitely need at least 3 days to get a full experience. If you love climbing and hiking this is the place to come.
Roshni Patel
Originally, I was supposed to visit Zion National Park but that was a bust, so I looked up a park on the drive back to Las Vegas and stumbled upon this. I highly recommend coming here. For out of state visitors, the cost is $15 otherwise it's $10. Stop by the visitor's center for a map so you can make the most of the trip. There are some easy trails but it's not a paved road, and you have to walk through sand. You can see some great petroglyphs throughout the park, marked on the map easily so you can find them. I'd budget at least 2 hours to stop by all the stops even more time if you plan on walking on all the trails.
Alex Samura (AkselPhoto)
If you want to be away from crowded streets of Vegas, that would be the best way: simply drive down here .. but do not forget to bring with you your best camera! What a treat, if you are a lover of nature!
Yen Yuan
Valley of Fire 🔥🔥!! it's a Nevada State Park known for its stunning red sandstone rock formations which illuminate the valley especially at sunset, making it look appear as though it’s on fire. Entwined among the valley’s red rock wonderland are remnants of prehistoric locals and unparalleled vistas! …
Victoria Simonnet
Beautiful State Park that you can drive thru if you aren't into hiking. If you do enjoy hiking there are trails and it's easy to crawl up some rocks for sweet views. Worth seeing!
Moriah Honerkamp
Great to hike, camp or drive through. We didn’t enjoy the provided map too much. We ended up having to cross reference with Google, which was an issue since cell reception is sketchy there. Definitely recommend the Fire Wave. It was our favorite part and was only a 1.3 round trip hike.
William Nicoll
Went here in the late afternoon and enjoyed some light hiking out of the sun. Awesome geology, petroglyphs, and driving scenery. Saw a desert bighorn sheep too! Stock up on snacks and water at the Petro station before driving into the park
Philip Cameron
Stumbled on this place while driving the Lake Mead North shore drive. Glad we did as the landscape of this park is breath taking. Highly recommend the short drive from Vegas to experience this state park.
Mariano Levitan
An awesome state park in Nevada. I was driving from Vegas to Utah and took the route to go through the valley of fire, totally worth it. Amazing red rocks and landscapes. I spent a little more than an hour but there is much more to see.
Tonya Thompson
It was truly awesome and beautiful. Easy to drive to all the look outside. And some places to hike. Lots of camping places, but I would make a reservation. We spent most of a day
Shannan Muire
This is my favorite place to go hiking... Beautiful, rocks, petroglyphs, bighorn sheep, little critters, and gorgeous sunsets. It's worth paying to get in.
Adrian Rodriguez
Loved the place. Went in a fall afternoon. So the weather was excellent and got to se one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. Trails are mostly short, kid friendly. Ideal for a day trip from Vegas.
Jorge Martínez Richie
Easily you can be in the right place at the rounge time.
National Park is wonderfull but you need to be very carefull on the hot weather, at noon it's so warm and maybe you can't see you sweting because it evaporates quickly under the sun.
Take care, but also enjoy the adventure of the desert.
The trip from Las Vegas takes around 1 hour, so you can come and go during one day, even a afternoon traveling by your own car.
jim patane
Amazing rock formations. Pictures do not do this park justice. A great day trip if you are visiting Vegas.
Steven Schipper
Great park, close to Vegas. Organized, well designed, you can literally do most of the park in one day. Many different looks, and mountain goats.
Brian Spain
This place is a great place to spend an entire day hiking, climbing rocks and seeing landscapes you will not see anywhere else. Petroglyphs dating back 4,000 years lots of places to drive around and pull off the road to.
Hans & Betsy Harper
Bring water! None in park. Visitor center was closed and water shut off. Beautiful landscape. Nice drive if it's too hot to hike
Heather Crouse
The most pet friendly state park! I had so much fun exploring with my dogs (responsibly) on actual trails instead of just parking lots or a gravel road like many have.
K.J. Sepulona
Took my Family here. It was a big difference to what I expected of the Nevada Desert 🏜. I'm from the Pacific Island & I enjoyed myself. See photos. Definitely a worthwhile trip IMHO. …
Deborah Barron Brown
The best State park we have ever been to. It is very hard to walk in the sand so bring really good shoes and socks. Bring your own food and water.
Charlie Jennifer
Easy drive with lots of rocks to walk around and climb on. You don’t need to go on a long hike! Just pop out of the car and stroll!
Andy Martorana
It would have to be really bad for me to rate a park less than 5 stars. The hikes are good without being too difficult, but definitely make sure you either go in the cooler months or early in the day.
Cess Estiola
If you're going to Las Vegas, please make sure to do a side trip to Valley of Fire. 🔥 I'm sure you will enjoy your Vegas with a little bit of fun at the strip, and a very relaxing day in nature. Such a beauty. I didn't know this existed in Las Vegas. It's only an hour drive from the strip. I highly recommend visiting this amazing place! …
Svetlana Larson
One of my favorite places, it's only $10 per car to get in , park has lots of picnic spots and various trails to walk, amazing views and it's only 45-60 min away from Vegas.
charles rowe
Uniquely beautiful Nevada State Park. Lots of hiking trail & plenty of cool things to see; petroglyphs, wild Mountain Goats & beautiful scenery everywhere
Angela Destro
Wow! God sure does paint with a beautiful pallet! As you enter the area you are immediately awed by the majestic, sweeping view and the incredible colors. As a first timer, I thought that first glimpse as I descended into the park was going to be THE view. But it wasn't. It was only the beginning. The further in you went, the more beautiful and amazing it was. One thing that really helped us was stopping at the visitor center first. There we saw a great exhibit on the park, the archeological elements, and the geological development. Most importantly, we found posters that gave great recommendations of what to see depending on how much time you had. We only had a few hours and the recommendation for Two Hours was spot on! I even got a recommendation from the Ranger on duty as to what would be a good, easy, short trail so my husband (who has COPD) could keep up with me. Her recommendation was excellent! She recommended Mouse Tank, a sandy trail and mostly flat according to her. Or if we could do longer, Rainbow Vista (1 mile round trip). Same type of sandy trail but a bit more in terms of ascending and descending. We did the Rainbow Vista which was just at the max my husband could handle. The last item on the Two Hour list from the poster in the visitor center was to make plans to come back because 2 hours is not enough time to do the park justice. They were RIGHT! I love to hike and climb but all I really got to do was drive and see. The 1 mile trail wasn't enough for my appetite. I am going to have to figure out when I can get back there.
Keith Sledd
Been there several times before, every trip there I have enjoyed 100%, not a bad trip at all, I highly recommend this place as a place to visit, Breath taking views, and a lot to photograph.
Robert Quinn
Great scenery. Camp sites are excellent. Visitor center has decent info. Lots of short hiking trails.
Richard Thomas
They change is very dramatic and beautiful. You must hike a little for the best views, and the number of petroglyph are amazing.
Amethyst Kristina
Love this park! One of my favorites for sure! I need to visit in the winter to enjoy some of the longer hikes or get a better jump on it in the morning!
Stephanie Thomas
We spent the whole day there & hiked 5.5 miles. The terrain is incredibly amazing & stunning. We saw petroglyphs, rams & incredible canyons & rock formations. I recommend this place for all age groups.
Lexi Shepherd
Valley of fire was so unique. At first I had my doubts while driving out here whether or not it was worth going to, it was about 30-40 minutes off the interstate. But there are so many cool things to see here. The crowds were not too bad during the month of November either. I will definitely be going back to explore some more in the future.
Wes Wilkinson
Spectacular park! Should be a National Park! Fire Wave, petroglyphs, rock formations, seven wonder hike, Arch Campground outstanding. Will definitely be back!
Dona Bromley
Great camping area with shade covers over picnic tables. Fire pits and bar b que stations. Best of all, bathroom s with showers 👌 Warm to HOT.. …
Wandervans Chris
Cute red rocks state park just outside of Vegas. Camping fills up fast so keep that in mind but certainly worth a day trip. If you have just been to Zion then you might skip.
Andy Whitesides
Hiked to the Fire Wave and White Dome slot canyons. Spectacular hike. Make sure to park in a nearby lot. We parked in a pullout with no signage and came back to a parking warning. Now we know.
Donald hood
This is a truly amazing park, with stunning hikes and lots of opportunities to get grate photos. Its about an hour from Vegas. When I was here the park didn’t seem to busy but recommend avoiding the heart and busy time by getting there early in the morning and bring plenty of water with you at any time. I was here in the fall when the weather was just comfortable for a day trip of hiking. . If you don’t have a lot of time to hike it is also a very scenic drive. Every where you look there is awesome rock formations and colors My favorites were fire wave canyon and Rainbow Vista
Alan Cattabriga
Totally awesome park! Fun,short hikes, with plenty of bc exploring if you wish. Hard to get into the campground (both look cool.) However, going towards Overton there is plenty of disperse camping.
Madison Kipfmiller
Small fee to enter, which was only $10 for us. Pass is good until sunset and totally worth $10. There's so much to see here and it's only an hour from the strip.
alchenok 369
Great place to explore. Very hot. A lot of hiking in the sand. Not for everyone's physical abilities
Christine Micks
Outta this world!! Valley of Fire State Park in Overton, NV is a MUST experience!!
Upon entering the park you feel as if you have been transported to Mars! Beautiful rainbow of colors in the landscape.
There are several hikes for any level of hiker, no matter the intensity (easy, moderate, or difficult) you are bound to see amazing geography and wildlife (bighorn sheep)!
There are nice picnic tables at most every trailhead, so you can pack a lunch and enjoy the “outdoor” dining. There are also clean restrooms available before you hit the trails
The park is a short distance from the Las Vegas Metro area, which makes it a great day trip.
Highly recommend, and a must see, you will not be disappointed!
David Horák
Beautiful place, jus take enough of water. We have also seen many cool places at the road with barbecue pleases and some tables, so I can imagine to spend more time here.
Dude
In A Nutshell:
-Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada is a nice short (1 hour) drive from Las Vegas.
-You'll pay a small entrance fee ($1 saved if you are a veteran).
-After you enter, you'll experience a very martian layout of jagged red rocks.
-There are many stopping points with a small narrow road that winds around the entire park.
-If you don't have time to drive to neighboring Utah to explore their vast parks, Valley of Fire is a nice consolation prize.
Overall, this is a good place to take family & friends if you get tired of the glitz & glamour of the Strip.
James Hicks
About an hour north of Las Vegas, spectacular desert scenery. My 2nd time there. Water fountain & bottle refill at visitor center. Wish we had lunch with us for one of the picnic areas. Highlight of the day was seeing big horn sheep.
Zia Jang
We went hiking to Mouse Trail and White Dome. We had fun and it was worth the drive and walk. It was hot even when it's barely the middle of February but it was bearable.
Alecksee Warwick
Pictures and words cannot describe an amazing park like Valley of Fire. I wont try to do that.... merely explain my experience.
Easy park to get to(if coming from vegas there are two options to get there-1 is through lake Mead which will be a $25 fee unless you have national park pass. 2- is the 15 with no fees but more traffic prob. $10-15 parking at Valley of Fire) Me and my Nephew spent about 4 hours in this beautiful state park. I think that was about right but you can easily spend all day here-trails and parking until sunset so try and go somewhat early. Pictures are from white dome trail and picnic area(cool narrow canyon passage), fire wave trail(swirly twirly gum drop 😉 rocks)and Atlal Rock(preserved petroglyphs). Highly recommend all these stops. Wish we would have had more time to stop and also hike the pink canyon trail. The 2 campsites were completely booked but located in just the most amazing area. It was overcast but when the sun did manage to peek through the clouds it completely transformed this land and its natural colors to a fantasy land.
Purdy Excursion Life
Very low key and chill state park. You can do everything in a day. 52min from the Las Vegas strip. Come early (I arrived around 0700). Pay by card (machine) or cash (envelope). Entry is $10-$15 based on veteran status and Nevada residency.
Robbyn Emery
Just beautiful. There are showers and bathrooms, accessible for the differently abled. Camping areas for tent and rv camping with hook ups, grills and a dump station/water🙂 …
Jennifer Winfield
Absolutely gorgeous place. It was hotter than hades when we were there but so well worth it. Bring lots of water n food n spend the day here for only $15. Unreal in certain places of the park. Can feel the presence of those who were here before me. Saw a couple of big horned sheep. Don't let their stillness fool you... They are most certainly real. Staircase to Atlatl rock look very intimidating but very doable.
Joshua Newcity
The entrance fee is the same as Zion or the Grand Canyon ($25). It's a 10 mile drive through state park. Nice views for sure if it's along your route. My favorite part was the toll road from Valley of Fire entrance to Lake Las Vegas... GORGEOUS scenic drive through the desert valley with not a single building for 20 minutes on a perfectly paved road.
Yehiel Sasson
Beautiful state park! The petroglyphs are really cool. Definitely recommend to come and see. Make sure to bring a lot of water, hat and proper shoes. Don’t forget that it is a desert and there is not a lot of shade.
Jonathan Tooth
Love this place. With lots of beautiful hikes it also has that feeling of somewhere very special. I think people should come and see it for themselves, when the temperature is right.

A true hidden gem off I-15, an hour out of Vegas. If your debating a trip here - don’t. Just go. You won’t regret it. You don’t have to hike in the heat to enjoy the park. Driving around the park and taking in all the color rock formations is a treat in itself.
Ginneson Willis
A must visit for those who love hiking. Great rock formations which nature built over millions of years.
Dale Harwood
The colors are spectacular, the hikes are short but very scenic. Spent half a day there are saw most everything
Carmina Heilla
Ok - this is a 🔥💯! Stay safe as it gets very hot and get water and extra sunscreen because the sun hits very badly here. Worth visiting - really nice. …
Issy Scibona
We went in the middle of August so it was definitely a little hotter than I would've liked. If you go, I highly recommend you go during a cooler time that way you won't be too hot to do any of the trails. A lot of the trails were also closed for us, due to the heat. But other than that, it was a beautiful park to see and take pictures of!
David Partridge
The park is located only one-hour away from Las Vegas so if you are in the area you should visit it. I had been at this park several years ago on a motorcycle trip and wanted to make sure we visited the park on our way home again. The park did not disappoint with the scenery and another sighting of a bighorn sheep!
We stopped at the Cabins for lunch and visited the stone-built cabins. They were built in 1936 as part of the construction being done during the Great Depression. Guests could stay overnight here, and each cabin had awesome views.
The Visitors Center was open during our visit. Inside they have a small museum of the history and the animals and plants of the region. It was too hot to do any hike during our visit, but in cooler weather there are many trails to explore.
Tracy B
Beautiful little park. Super close to Vegas. Gets overviews in spring and fall. Go in winter!
Sara Nease
Excellent park to visit close to Las Vegas. Would highly recommend visiting. Rock formations can be seen directly from the car on the beautiful drive through the park, and hikes of all skill levels are located through out the park. Be sure to bring lots of water!
Melvin Cripps
Valley of Fire is a desert area with colorful rock formations and trails. Camping is available. The visitor center is small but has a lot of information. There are several areas to park and walk just off the road.
Traveling With Spice
A perfect place to visit during sunrise or sunset. You could hike easy/tough or do it from your car, just drive around. If you want to to get away from the craziness of Vegas, this is the place.. pretty close to Vegas. The trails are fairly short, not strenuous. All the highlighted rock formations had plenty of parking in the designated areas and there were turnouts along the road as well. Beautiful scenery and good walking trails. Most of the rock formations are close to the roads so you do not have to walk far. Early morning is good, summer days are tough.
Ides of March B
Spectacular, magnificent. Words don't really adequately describe how beautiful this park is and pictures don't do it justice. 10/10

A great state park close to Las Vegas. As the name says, this park is really on fire. No not the burning one, but the glowing one. Super cool #naturephotography #hiking #wonderful_places

We were visiting Las Vegas and saw this park was about an hour away. It’s definitely worth the drive just to see the petroglyphs!!
Rob Klein
Loved the park! Great hikes and beautiful geology! A must see national treasure!
Rachel Murphy
Beautiful national park. Must see while in Vegas! The best pictures are during the sunrise, so get there right when the park opens.
Bea The bee
Loved it here would return all the way from
Australia in a heartbeat! We travelled the whole of the USA and here we saw the most long horn!
Gerard Roca Fernandez
Amazing place close to las Vegas, totally recommended! The park was amazing and there are a lot of spots to explore.
Though it says that Nevada car plates have a discount but they did not want to give us the discount because we werent Nevada residents, and that's not written anywhere. Also the women on the entrance was so rude to us, what a shame.
C D (gOLDEnArMz)
Squeezed a quick stop in before we left Nevada, this park has amazing views.

I gotta say this is one of the most memorable trip thru out the whole vacation. Never did I know there is advance hiking in Las Vegas. And how could one person climb a vertical rock without any ropes or harness?! 🙃
If u look thru my photos in sequence, u’ll realised how hard the climb was. Every climb I was fighting for my breath, and conquering my fear in height! 🤯
Refer to photo 3, this was the first rock we need to climb. There was absolutely no camera trick to this photo, it was really 90 degree perpendicular to the ground. See how small the cars were once we were up there. No joke, this was just the beginning. We were not even 20% there yet. 😆 Each part of the climb was hard work. Let the video do the talking. 😝
My tiny pea brain always felt challenged by physical activities like this. And always pass false signals to me to give up and that I can’t do it. So here is the issue, If you think you can’t, then you can’t. So always tell yourself - Do not succumb to your weakness! Trust me it always worked, at least for me. 😊
Shugar Shay
Such a beautiful place and experience. You could easily spend hours here, pack a lunch and find a nice trail to visit.

What does it take for a modern entrepreneur to balance work and healthy lifestyle in today’s techy world? For me it’s daily exercise. I believe that our bodies were designed to stay active and mobile. How about you? 😄

Super cool and super fun. Worth the drive but go early to have plenty of time to explore before sunset. There is a 15 park fee for out of state visitors. 10 for local.
julee schweitzer
Beautiful place. Lots of hiking opportunities. Oct is a great time 2 see it! Not hot, perfect Temps. Plenty of parking in Oct!
Rory Fargo
If you're interested in exploring this is a wonderful opportunity. 2 days minimum to see almost everything. Petroglyphs, trails and interesting sights everywhere.
Sylvia Diamant
Amazing park! Never thought such beautiful place was near Las Vegas, about an hour away. The scenery to the park is bit boring so don’t get discouraged. Once you enter the park you will be amazed! Beautiful trail too!! We hiked to Fire Wave then continued to White Dome. We backtracked and came up the Seven Wonder Trail and that was hard! Multiple places were blocked by large boulders and personally that section should be closed. You will see lots of different natural beauty such as red, yellow, lavender, white and yellow rock canyons as well as slot canyons. Bring lots of water, sunscreen and a hat.
ashley stidham
Totally worth the drive. Absolutely beautiful! We hiked the fire wave trail and part of the seven wonders trail. We weren't able to make it all the way through to white Dome because of time but will definitely go back next time I am in Vegas to check it out. I was able to easily find parking. Entrance fee is $10. There is some construction on the road into the park but it is for only about a mile right off the freeway.
Daniel Matthews
Whilst visiting Vegas we hired a car and visited here- took about an hour to drive there.
One of the best things we did whilst visiting Vegas, only $15 to get in, everywhere was dead quiet.
Do not attempt to visit by taxi, there landmarks are so far from each other it's almost impossible to walk- especially in the heat; we visited in June. Probably impossible to get a taxi back too, it's in the middle of nowhere.
Take plenty of water and suitable footwear, some areas is soft sand, others is rocky.
We attempted a trail but at 109° we felt it would've been too much to get there and back walking through soft sand.
The views are absolutely stunning, it's a must do especially if you're from Europe as we have nothing remotely similar to this.
Lori Welch
The various colors throughout Valley of Fire are stunning. The staff are professional, friendly and helpful. Gorgeous!
RawRec! Strike
Amazing red Aztec sandstones! Easy trails and trekking pathways.
Lisa Olson
Bring lots of water, wear a hat and sunscree. Wear, at a minimum, sturdy snakers. Park closes at sunset. $15 Per car.
Victor Rafael Florez
This place is out of this world! Quite literally felt like we were on Mars. The rock formations, textures and colors are so unique. We only had time to do the White Domes loop and Mouse tank.
White Domes was so much fun! On the All Trails app it is rated as easy difficulty but I disagree with this. It should definitely be rated as moderate difficulty because of the uneven and strange terrain. But still do-able for most hikers/walkers.
Next, we wanted to go to Fire Wave but unfortunately it has been closed all summer and said it would not re-open until after labor day.
So we opted for the Mouse tank trail and honestly did not see any petroglyphs and it was pretty boring. You can skip this one.
I definitely want to come back and go to the other trails I missed.
P.S. Arrive early! We got there at 8 AM and left at 11 AM. After this it gets uncomfortably hot. Enjoy!
Megan Wilcox
We made a somewhat random stop here on our way back from Nevada to Las Vegas, and really enjoyed the little hike we did. This park is really pretty and the bright pink sands are so fun. Tons of photography opportunities and some good hikes. We didn't get to do the hardest hike because it was closed due to heat during the time we were there (summer to early fall), but we enjoyed the canyon hike and it was very easy. They have bathrooms at most of the stops too, and the little pamphlet guide is perfect.
Tony Pham
Amazing place. Go there for the sunset and just enjoy the colors and landscape
We even saw some mountain goats
Cheltuitoru Vasili
Great outdoor place for hiking. We enjoyed the weekend at Valley of Fire.Kids favorable as well
Grzegorz Kulan
Beautiful Park. Elephant’s rock is the one you must see and views are also amazing
Sophie S
Beautiful rock formations, best to visit it in the morning! I imagine sunsets could be spectacular too
Sharree Sanderson
Went in January, high of 58°, a few days after rain. The day was overcast with a slight breeze. Definitely the best time of year to come here! The colors and formations are spectacular! Be sure to do the loop of Seven Wonders and pink/pastel canyon. Stunning! Easy enough for my 5yo, kept the 2 yo in the backpack because he just wanted to wander lol. We will make this a yearly day trip from St George
Brian Reynolds
Lots so see here in this park. Petroglyphs were super to see, some of which had sadly been defaced by low IQ visitors. The seven sisters was neat to see and the overlook hike was worth the view. Some of the really neat stuff is limited due to the heat but I understand and appreciate the park staff looking out for those who might not be used to the extreme heat. Bring your camera and lots of water for the best experience!
Herbert Tabin
Valley of Fire State Park is very underrated. One of the most beautiful nature's playground, featuring beautiful rock formations. Home to some beautiful wild life. The place is just a beautiful creation/masterpiece.
Shimeka Simmons
It was more Awesomer than I even imagined. Truly Beautiful! The scenery is more diverse than I realized.
Sankha S Hota
A great state park close to Las Vegas. As the name says, this park is really on fire. No not the burning one, but the glowing one. The red rock hills of this park really gets fiery when the sunlight hits them in the right angle. There is even a arch that is worth a visit itself. We have seen Bighorn sheep on the hills and on the roads. This is a small place, so one can see it all in one day.
Michael Panesis
Amazing! Surprised it's not better known. Plenty of easy hikes and lots to see.
Dj Bonzz
A cool place to visit lots of Red rock formations Petroglyphs and Bighorn Sheep. A quick drive from Las Vegas a very nice visitors center. I was happy to see the sheep out grazing the highlight of my visit.
Donald Huckaby
Very good views from park. Nice walking trail.
Great history.
Akshay Aravind
The road leading to the state park is awesome.
Lots of viewpoints inside the park. Most of them have parking and within a short distance of the parking lot.
Beautiful landscape and wonderful photo opportunities.
The visit center is also decent. No good food or restaurant options available inside the park.
There are a few short hikes which are really good.
Jessica Brown
One of my MOST favorite places on this planet! There are petroglyphs everywhere. This trip I saw Bighorn Sheep. I can't help but want to climb every rock. The views change with every corner. A geological gem 💎 …
Andrea C
It was beautiful and a unique experience to my usual vacations in forested areas ❤️
Tom BMN
Amazing Rocks, exhausting heat. Trails a little short. I recommend white domes.
Tom Patterson
Valley of the Fire is well worth the one hour drive from Las Vegas. The park is underrated!
Christopher McVay
Beautiful state park. This is not a huge location but still a nice little place to visit. Most things can be seen from the car, including Elephant Rock, and at 10$ per car it is not expensive either.
Navin Kallolli
Visited here in January, warm and comfortable weather. This will be a furnace in the summers.
Szymon Pifczyk
Truly amazing place! Because this is a state park and not a national park, it gets way less visitors - but that's your window, because the landscapes are definitely national park-quality. The only downside is that park is open only from sunrise to sunset (unless you stay on the campground), so opportunity for nice photos is limited (you can only take photos in full sun).
Rasta
One of the best places to hike take photos as a photographer and see amazing views in Las Vegas for a better view of this location follow my YouTube channel @RastaVybzTV I adventure in and outside of Las Vegas and make videos for location just like this in Nevada
Wendy van Ginkel
We stopped by on a whim and I am so very glad we did! This place is a hidden gem. What a beautiful landscape and not crowded like other parks in the area. Not far off the main hi-way. If you are in the area treat yourself and visit!
Lauren Tansey
So fun! White domes was a bit of a scramble with a dog but we did it and it was amazing
Sridhar Mocherla
I did the White Domes Trail here and enjoyed witnessing the various rock formations and change in their texture. The drive through the park is pretty scenic in itself and highly enjoyable. I got here on a hot summer afternoon and would really have preferred to come in the morning or at sunset just to avoid the brutal heat. There are plenty of photo opportunities here, so you’ll want to spend as much time here to take advantage of that.
mr traveler
We drove there on the way to Zion. This park is definitely underrated. The traffic is not as bad as Zion and it has nice sceneries.
Chris G
Cool State Park, very hot so hard to walk trails during summer but beautiful scenery and petroglyph, too bad people are destroying them by touching or writing on them..
Suzanne Bergfalk
Fantastic views and great hiking. The seven wonders trail was a bit longer than I expected, but it was worth every step! Do not miss the Fire Wave....if you can make it in the morning or afternoon, the light is gorgeous. But it's worth seeing any time of day!
M. Toupin
Absolutely spectacular views and well worth a trip! Go in the winter when the temperatures are great for hiking. There's a lot of areas for hiking for everyone from really easily to challenging.
Had to knock off a star for the obnoxious and condescending gate staff and refusing to honor the gold star military parks pass like 99% of all the parks in the US I've visited. $1 off the $15 entry fee for military... Really? Who thought that was a good idea?
J C
Favorite park! We took our camper and got a nice spot by cool rocks. Everywhere you look is just breath taking! Lots of big horn sheep!
Zim Zeisler
This state park is one of my favorite places in the world.
It's a beautiful escape from Vegas, with lots of wildlife and beautiful views.
The hikes are tame, but in the summer it is unbelievably hot. Make sure you bring water.
Bhargava Reddy
If you are in Vegas the first place to visit apart from the strip is the valley of fire. Carry amount to pay at the entry as cards are not accepted. I had trouble because of that. I had a lot of fun at this place . We went as a group of 15 members . The view was to good of the elephants . We stopped every place for great pictures and looking around . Be careful if there is any flooding waring. We had experienced heavy rain while heading back to Vegas. It even gets dangerous with heavy wind during the night. Try to come back before night incase of heavy rains as there are no signals over there.
James Willcox
Fabulous national treasure. A must visit. Hiking in unique western landscape.
Douglas Friedman
Beautiful day, lots of exercise. Saw some beautiful animals and nasty sports cars racing!
Millie Obregon
I came here about a year or so ago. It was such a beautiful place and the red rocks were alluring.
Hannah Bierbaum
Had never heard of this place and it turned out to be one of my favorites! We drove through on a 100 degree day, so mostly driving not hiking, but truly AMAZING views! Many beautiful rock formations. It's worth the visit, even if you're just driving through.
John West
What a beautiful park!! I could have spent all day here.
Annabelle T.
The whole experience here is absolutely breath taking. I felt as thought I was in Mars and I loved it. No matter how much time you have to spend here you will have a good time. It's very cheap to get it, if no one is at booth, they have a honesty system where you put your money into an envelope. I would suggest going straight to the visitor center first. See the interesting displays of the information of native Americans who were on this land. You can also speak to a worker who can provide you with a free map and answer any questions you may have about where to go and what to see if you have limited time. Park is very clean and bathrooms at most stops
Edwick Quiles
Loved our time at V-o-F...! Great hikes....nice visitor center....all-around highly recommended!!!
Ifti Adib
It is a great park for photography. Very scenic park. 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas. $10 to enter the park. Best points of the park:
1. The fire wave
2. White domes
3. Rainbow vista
4. Mouse’s tank
5. The beehives
6. Elephant rock
7. Pink canyon or pastel canyon.
It is open from sunrise to sunset and visitor center is open from 8.30 to 4.30. If you go there in a sunny and hot weather then bring plenty of water. Most of the hikes are short and easy to do.
Chantelle Cook
One of my absolute fave spots to hit in Nevada, the views are breathtaking and the hiking is premier here!!!!
Janice Hill
Went to see the sunrise as a recommended place to watch a sunrise in Las Vegas. I was not disappointed. It truly does look like a fire when the sun rises. Beautiful red rock and dirt. I would live to watch the sunset to see if it has the same beauty. I would love to just spend the day looking at all the things from sunrise to sunset. Needed more places to pull over and look around but I would recommend anyone checking it out.
Maribel Lara
We stopped at Valley of Fire on our way to Utah.....what a beautiful park!
Shobhit Chaudhry
Some of the best looking red rocks you’re going to see anywhere.
It’s perfect for instagram and also for camping.
Alyssa A Ellsworth
So beautiful and unique! This is my second time coming here, I love bringing friends here.
Trypp Adams
A truly amazing park, with some stunning hikes. Its about an hour from Vegas and maybe it was because it was the day after St. Patrick's day or maybe just that people sleep in in Vegas but things were pretty quite around 9am but by 11am the park was full. My favorites were fire wave canyon and white domes and the elephant rock. I would plan to spend a few hours here outside of commute time, could easily be a full day.
Victor Surlari
The scale and beauty of this place is just incredible. Be vigilant during the heat here.
Oleksandr Huliai
This place is amazing!
Great hiking trails, beautiful views!
Make sure to bring plenty of water and come early if you can!
Stay safe and have fun!
Rob Fisher
Amazing topography and geology. Take uour time. Look every direction. Enjoy the beauty.
Christina Ng
1 hour drive from Las Vegas. Go early if it’s hot. We went when it was hot so we got there around 830am and it was still too hot. Hiked white domes and it was too hot in the sun. Nice short hike. Drove to the visitor center, the cabins and Atlatl rock. It was $10 / car if Nevada plates. Bring lots of water. Visitor center has a refill station.
Eliana Lamson
Super cool place! We did the Mouse's tank trail and the fire wave. Really neat and totally doable if you are short on time. They both took maybe about an hour. Loved it and highly recommend if you want to check out some petroglyphs and cool rocks!
David “Julian” Martin
Fantastic especially near sunset. Restroom available at the entry gate. Picnic areas throughout and well marked. An easy drive from Hoover dam with beautiful views when going through the national park, although that scenic drive does have an entry fee.
Kit Phan
The landscape is magnificent and vast. Unique, colorful stone structures. Absolutely beautiful.
Paul Noir
An excellent place to visit as a quick get away from Vegas. Nevada residents get a reduced fee at the gate ($10 in 2022), non-residents pay just a little more ($15/car load).
Along with hiking, and a bit of exploring, there's also campgrounds inside the park. Just outside the park, dispersed camping is allowed as well.
Also, if you come in the west gate, and continue through to the east, you'll have free access to Lake Mead.
Thomas Harran
An easy drive to amazing views. Must see . Don't miss out.
Michael Rodgers
Very beautiful, peaceful place. Many trails of fantastic scenery. We drove from Arizona through Lake Mead, couldn't believe the mountain ranges they were constantly changing. Very hot in late spring and summer.
Flo Niedhammer
Best park near Las Vegas. The several times I went it was always almost completely empty. Highly recommend going to the fire wave. It’s likely you’ll have the entire place to yourself. Went in late June and temperatures were about 110F.
Jon Balter
We had a great time. Only had like two hours and it was worth stopping in. Go enjoy
Ron Dileva
Hot!! Would have explored more but it was near 100°F. Too warm for a Canadian!😉 …
Scott Wolfe
Very very cool place in a very hot environment. Cool as in neat, awesome, sweet.... You get the point. Would recommend for people who are Vacationing in Vegas and want to site see away from the lights and glamour of the strip. Only a 25-30 min drive away from downtown Las Vegas.
Ally Burg
I am obsessed with this place! I swear it's one of the top state parks in the nation, it's such a gem. I first visited in February when the weather was perfect and mild. In early June it was around mid to high 90's and difficult to hike, especially with a dog.
There are plenty of picnic spots with shelters, kid-friendly areas to walk around and see, and plenty of short hikes to great views. The fire wave (the east side of the #3 parking area) is a must! Everything else is pick and choose by your interests and time. We did every main spot around the campground, plus the white doves trail and rainbow vista. Throughout the park there's so many petroglyphs, fun rock features, various colors, and an array of hikes for any age/level. The visitor center is fun to visit for 30 mins to read about the area and history, plus have a bathroom/water break. You can purchase wifi for the park here/online, with different access levels. They actually show areas on the map where you'll likely have cell service, too.
The Atlatl Rock campground was great to stay in for a night, but gets pricey really quick. For an out of state vehicle, it's $25 to camp ($15 for park fee, +$10 per night spent). But the fee envelope also seemed to imply you had to pay both the park fee and camp fee daily, which means two nights here would be $50? Definitely not worth that price for the quality of sites. Thankfully 80% of the sites have shade shelters, but a few don't. A handful of sites are right around larger rocks, providing shade at various times of the day. Every site has a grill, fire pit, (under fire restrictions so no use) picnic table, and water spout. Most have designated gravel tent pads. The biggest problem was that I couldn't get stakes in for the life of me, and it was so windy our tent kept blowing away, even when flattened and covered by water jugs and rocks 😂 there is a separate area of the campground with RV specific sites with hookups, towards the end of the loop, after the turnout for the walk-in sites (whole area was closed early June?).
There are bathrooms and showers in both areas, and one more bathroom building by the walk-in sites. The bathroom by the main entrance is super mediocre, arguably one of the worst state park bathrooms I've been in. The best part was that the water was hot! Otherwise the shower stalls are small, have one tiny shelf that's 6ft high, some don't have locks, and have zero or dim lighting- shower during the day forsure. The women's bathroom has 4 decent stalls that are mostly clean, plus there are electric plugs by the sinks. The mirrors are scratched out and there's no soap or method to dry your hands, so basically flush toilets and water from a faucet rather than the warm ground spouts. Overall worth a night to spent two days at the park, but not much more.
Catherine Meek
This Park is fantastic. I enjoyed every minute of the drive thru.
The rock colors and formations are amazing. Unbelievable in the color changes of the rock from 1 side of the highway to the other. From red rock to brown to Grey. Lots of shapes and formations..lots of wild shaped vegetation. A must place to visit when in Las Vegas.
Natasha Kanhai
What an amazing phenomenon! All the different colors of rock as well as texture and shape. A beautiful place to walk/drive around and hike. We were lucky to spot big horn sheep as well.. Admittedly it was sunny and hot so I can't imagine what it will feel like in the summer months. A must see!
Andrew Scheuerer
Worth the drive, but pack plenty of water. Great day of hiking away from Vegas. Lighting is beautiful between about 4:00 pm and sunset, but you need to be out of the park by sundown.
Mind the turtles.
Hugh Craig
Great place to visit. I like the fact you can drive and visit different spots in the Park. See one area then just jump in your car or on your bike and go to the next. I must say it was name correctly because it felt like a Valley of fire when my wife and I were there. It was 97 degrees so be careful going in the summer. The sites will not disappoint though.
May Zheng
Best place to see and enjoy the red Aztec sandstones. It’s still allowed to clim up rocks in most areas. There are many amazing trails with surprised views. The entrance fee? Only $10 per vehicle!
Isabela Ramos
This place is sensational, amazing as it is magical and perfect. If you can go, go! We paid 15 dollars to enter Beautiful trails and admirable views. You will not regret!
Graham Larson
Not the biggest state park, but you could definitely knockout most of these short medium length hikes in a day if you wanted to. Otherwise this place is absolutely gorgeous and a great was to see some gorgeous views in between mesquite and vegas or to take a break from the neon lights for a bit. Definitely a must see at least once
Christophe Tafani-Dereeper
I did not have high expectations but the park turned out to be really amazing, I really recommend driving to it if you're in the area! Careful, it's hot! Come early in the morning if possible. Pack at least 3L of water per person
I recommend doing the White Domes Trail
Melissa Hayden
Beautiful! So many places to get pictures, random wildlife. There are also places to climb and wander (even for kids). Trails are very well marked and staff very friendly. Next time I am town I will 100% be going again.
Justin Bookhammer
Highly recommended. Coming from the East coast USA the landscape and remoteness is vastly different. Super beautiful.
Franklin Robinson
Absolutely beautiful place
Edit...After three years it is still an absolute gorgeous place and you most certainly should visit for breath-taking desert views. I have been to a lot of deserts in my day and this is by far in the top ten in the world.
Stephen McKenney
Not our first visit, but the first time we came we only had a half day. Not enough if you are going to so some decent exploring on foot. It's a pretty place to drive through and take fifty foot excursions if you want, but it is a beautiful park with a little hiking soe we came back with a couple of overnights in Overton so we could do more this time, and it is well worth it.
Urban Redneck
More great examples of ancient native culture. Another stop where I'd suggest going early from late spring thru early fall to miss the intense heat. The soft sand can make for difficult footing, and add to your your exursion.
mjclaycaster
Beautiful place, we would go back! We were in Vegas for a long weekend, and Valley of Fire was a short trip out of town, well worth it. We went on Saturday March 6th and it was a beautiful day, clear skies. Lots of beauty out here and tons of places to hike, or just drive by if you don't want to hike. We got to watch two mama bighorn sheep and a baby walk right in front of our vehicle and on the way out of the park we saw a group of male big horn sheep grazing next to the road. The campgrounds looked awesome, how they are tucked away in the rocks. We would definitely come camp here if we lived in the state. Our favorite was White Domes trail, we went off trail and did alot of climbing to get a high up view. The views were amazing. Food for my soul!! Loved this place.
Julia Near and Far
I love Valley of Fire State Park. The colors and shapes of the rocks are beautiful. For individuals to that can't walk trails, climb rocks or hike, even just driving on the roads through the park provides gorgeous views. I've seen wildlife every time I've visited the park. The valley glows with even more awesome beauty at sunset; best vantage point at sunset is on the road just before the entrance.
penny kurz
Park ranger very informed, visitors center small but had everything we needed. The park itself is very unique and beautiful. I suggest you get there as soon as it opens so you can see everything. Some of the trails are not small children and pet friendly. Seeing the petroglyphs was worth the price of admission.
Nick Caniglia
Really incredible park. Beautiful views and I can’t wait to try to explore some more.
If you’re heading to Vegas and willing to take more time, I highly recommend driving east and through the lake Meade recreational area for a super scenic drive.
Liz A.
Amazing spot to see the stars. Arrive early (7am) to secure your camping spot. The side without showers is quieter and more private. There are toilets to use. Each camping spot has a water faucet, of which some of the large animals have figured out how to use.
TSideWes805
Plenty of red rock formations and even sighted a herd of wild bighorn sheeps roaming around the park.
Nick Garlinghouse
Must see! If you're in the Las Vegas area and there is nothing else you do outside the city, this is what you have to do. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! Driving in I stopped a few times for pictures and thought "this is pretty cool." As soon as I went through the gate and paid the $15 out-of-state fee and turned the first curve my jaw literally dropped and I can't even describe how beautiful the red rock formations are. My pictures definitely don't do it justice. Do yourself a favor and take a drive through this park. You won't be disappointed. You may even see some wild goats! 100% recommend!
Jason Rehor
Absolutely beautiful state park! Lots of different hike options, both short and long. Definitely recommend coming here. Surprised it isn’t a National Park since the beauty here is better some National Parks I’ve been to.
余其濬
Absolutely amazing! This is a great state park for outdoor enthusiasts and the layman alike. The rock formations, colors, and topography are stunning. Lots of places for the kids to climb up, on, and in. Parking is stringent. So park only in the designated areas or risk getting ticketed by the park rangers. Only open from "sunrise to sunset." Plenty of picnic tables around to eat on. We spent 3-4 hours here and only saw a few of the places we had planned.

Detour off our route from Las Vegas to Zion National Park. Well worth the time to visit. We stopped a few times for photos and did visit the Gift Shop. It was well stocked but a bit dated as were the restrooms at the shop. Cost was $15 but saved a dollar as I was a veteran. Wish we had more time.
Donna Smith
We had such a great time hiking here. There is a lot to see in such a small park. Definitely worth a stop if you are passibg through the area. I love the campgrounds too. We drove through them to see what they were like. I will consider a camping trip there next time.
deacon Williams
Thus is how much I loved this place, I am an Uber driver and I accepted a request that turn out to be over an hour drive. Half way in to the trip, I inquired how my riders would return to city limits. They had no idea, I decided I would hang around the area a few hours to take them back. Little did I know I would get so involved, 4 hours of sight seeing and hiking. We took photos and videos, I also learned some historical factors about my state. If you like nature and have an afternoon to spare, bring water and snacks, good fitting shoes and plenty of charge on you phone camera.
Mikey
Its like we visited mars. Really cool place and rock formations
Sundeep Kondaveeti
I absolutely love how beautiful the views are at sunset. Take a good camera and jacket if you're visiting in Nov, Dec time. Even better... carry a coffee or tea in a flask to sip while enjoying sunset.
Travis Dahl
It’s beautiful, but like any of these there’s a fee for entry.
TMG G
Love to stop here. Always a great place to hike and camp.
Jaro Masar
The park has many great corners, so do your homework before you visit. When it's hot, settle for shaded canyons and AWD loop. We once experienced 110F in the park and the soles on my shoes literally melted off!
Caroline Batalon
Very awesome! It's like going a field trip with your class and once you get off the bus everyone scatters cause there's so much to do, hike, see and jaw drop at how beautiful nature is! Rams just hiking through the cliffs like some crazy ninjas! Kids go crazy over here. Good place to freshen up your history on Native Americans and how they once lived out here.
James Ross
Lots of great hikes. Loved the wildlife along the way. It's a little slippery and sandy on the way down but if you hike the trail backwards from the parking lot people with small children or those who struggle on rough terrain would be able to hike most of the trail with no problem. The trail is short. You may also find it easier to hike up to the parking lot easier than hiking down from the parking lot.
Monique Mats
So pretty! Very crowded today, the line to get into the park was very long with only one person manning the station. Kinda like a Walmart with their check out lanes. It’s so huge and there are various spots to see so it wasn’t crowded. There are plenty of tables to picnic and relax, yes with shade! Plenty of places to climb and seclude yourself too!
Evan Greenawalt
Amazing and just beautiful great place and highly recommended
Penguin Vlogs
Beautiful scenery. Great place for picnic, camping, special events or a day trip. You’ll need a day to enjoy all the spots & short hikes. $20 entry fee.
Best to take the “Elephant Rock” - East Entrance; scenic drive :) 20 minutes longer but worth it!
Effi Crotty
This was a great visit. My sister and I decided to take a day trip out to the park since we were visiting Vegas for her birthday. The drive out was great, the drive through the mountains was awesome, and the park is amazing. There's so much to see so make sure you have plenty of storage for pictures! Rattlesnakes and big horned sheep are apparently prominent, however visiting in January we didn't see them (thankful for not seeing the snakes) , but we did see a few road runners.
I particularly enjoyed hiking up to see the Elephant Rock. I took a moment to enjoy the peace and quiet up there (aside from the occasional car because it's next to the road) and it was breath taking.
Demetris
Excellent and beautiful is all I can write. Loved every mile! Absolutely worth the drive. Out of staters, please pay the $15 fee and be at one with nature. Just happened to see Big Horn sheep up close for my first time. They are huge if you get that opportunity. No tortoises seen. Once exiting the park, if you turn left, you'll drive through a small picturesque town of Overton, NV. Turn to the right: Lake Mead, 63 miles away. I chose the left turn. Enjoy! 😁
Debbie Lucido
Absolutely beautiful! It was 115 degrees so we could not walk the trails as the heat was too much for me but just the drive through was well worth our time to drive there out of vegas. A must see!!
Marcin Sieniek
This might be the most underrated park in the US. Its red rocks are as awesome as many of the Utah National Parks and way better than (more popular) Red Rock canyon and yet you rarely hear about it. A must-see for any nature lover visiting the Vegas area.
Heidi Jones
Beautiful! Sunrise and sunset definitely help for photography! Fun hikes! Clean visitors center. I went Christmas day and by noon it was ridiculously packed!
Sarah Thomas
Wonderful state park. One of my favorites close to Las Vegas, about a 45 minute drive. Also very close to lake Mead, so I highly recommend if you are going to valley of fire to check out lake mead also. I usually start at the back of the park & work my way through. There is a visited center with a cool museum & gift shop + bathrooms if needed. Loads of Awesome trails as well. $10 daily admission, or for residents a state park pass, I’m not sure the cost. Worth the journey! Def a day trip!
Eric Neu
We went to this place for camping (first come first serve) and absolutely loved it. The camp sites all had their own picnic benches that were covered, vault toilets, water, and a part of the campsite had showers. The scenery around the campsites were amazing. Would camp here again!
Dena Jones
I absolutely love this place. It is so beautiful and amazing. A nice break from the pandemic and a great space and place to enjoy mother nature. Plenty of areas to stop, bbq or have a nice picnic lunch. White domes is one of my favorite hikes because well, mother nature is just so awesome!
Kyle Roberts
My favorite state park in Nevada. Came all the way from California for this.
Eduardo Ramirez
Winter hikes over summer hikes any day as summers get hot, no shade. I was able to explore a lot more since weather wasn't scorching. Really fun place, if you trust yourself enough you can explore a lot off trail, just be mindful of plant and animal life, as well as any brittle rock that may not totally support you. A bridge from a Star Trek movie isn't too far off elephant rock.
Irene
This is our favorite place to visit in Nevada, another must see for sunrise. So peaceful and quiet, a great getaway.
Soda Stereo
This park is breathtaking ! one of the most beautiful park we ever been ,but with Nevada heat come early ! the visitor center opens at 9:00 am and always is good to stop by to learn about the park , we did the white dome trail and it was amazing !
Anthony Lee
The Valley of Fire State Park was a fun day trip from our Las Vegas Hotel for the whole family. The drive was pretty easy from the city and the traffic was relatively fast and then it slowed toward the park entrance where we paid the $15 entrance fee per car. One of the first stops was Beehives and this was a really nice spot for the kids. The rocks were easy to climb at this location and there were great views of the wind holes and rock structures. One of our next stops was the visitor center and the family enjoyed looking at the various souvenirs, trinkets, and snacks. They also have Wi-Fi, but you will have to pay $3 and up. There were restrooms inside and outside of the visitor center. They were much cleaner than the ones out on the trails. After the visit to the visitor center, we made our way to White Domes Loop. It looked far on the map but wasn't too much further up the path. There was a hike after you get out of the parking lot and some of our group took a short hike. Overall we enjoyed the beautiful rock scenery, took some nice pictures, and the kids enjoyed climbing the rocks.
Laura Hartney
For not being widely known, this park was stunningly beautiful! Located at the north end of Lake Mead, not far off I-15, it was surprisingly easy to get to and well worth the visit. Anyone visiting the Las Vegas area and wanting some natural beauty to enjoy should check out this gem.
Uday Pharate
An hour drive from Vegas, this park has so much to offer. Short trails, winding roads and beautiful rock formations. Plan ahead to spend entire day here, get there early to avoid the crowds. Entry free is 10$ for a day pass, restrooms are conveniently located through out the park.
M Oosterhouse
Absolutely worth the drive. If you get motion sickness, drive in slower on the rolling hills and bumps. We had a few hours and we are so glad we drove up for it. On the way in we stopped for the beehive, then went to the visitor center, took the scenic route up to White dome and on the way saw horn sheep and amazing views so get ready to take pictures or to pull over when driving. on the way back we hit elephant rock but totally could have skipped it because that was not that worthy of a stop. And then we hit the arch on the way out.
Kodiak 536
2nd visit, were there several years ago, over 5 years ago before Covid-19.
Visitor center closed due to Covid-19 but, fortunately the bathrooms were open.
Park is on "honor system", people are supposed to pay following instructions at entrance...we saw ALL DISHONORABLE PEOPLE entering the park.
We didn't have exact change so, we deposited $40 for wife and I for entry.
I served this country so that EVERYONE can enjoy our national parks...even those dishonorable people.
Laurie Turner
This place is educational and it is very interesting people are polite as well. The rocks the mountains the animals and insects all very cool and fun to learn about.
Vivian Cheng
This is an easy drive out of Las Vegas, and it is just stunning. Admission fee was $10 for out of state visitors. It is driveable with gorgeous views just from your car, but there are small hikes to see additional sights. It's not crowded and sometimes you can spot some wildlife.
WhiteCollar Nomad
We did an abbreviated drive thru, due to the heat (bring cold drinks). We do plan on going back to see more when the temperature goes back down. Love the rock formations and eroded features in the reddish sandstone. If you need to get away from the slot machines for part of a day, good place to consider (if it is not too hot).
Crystal Padilla
Great experience. Loved it!
Get to drive down roads to get a closer look at the rock formations. You can also stop to take pictures or hike some of the trails.
Donna Scalf
It was pretty busy but it was the Saturday after New Year's. But it's a big State Park so there's plenty of space to spread out. The scenery is breathtaking. Had a fun picnic and hiking with my family.
Bright Liwanag
Valley of Fire and the different sandstone formations. Hard to imagine that a hundred million years ago, this vast desert was a sea. When the water receded, the sand and sediments were exposed to the elements and resulted into these beautiful and breathtaking rock formations of varying hues of yellow and orange.
Its desert sand is as powdery and fine as the sands of our very own Boracay beach in the Philippines - only that it is yellow and not white.
Katharine King
I always think Valley of Fire NV is under rated, every time we went there, always could find something new. Every trail there will show the different topic, even sometimes we just found a spot to stop the car and walked around, was amazed by some views.
It's very easy to go from Las Vegas, a day trip or camp for a night both good choices. April is the best season,so many desert flowers.
I got so many surprised today, this is the place you will never be disappointed.
Marcia Stanton
It was incredibly hot- 114! But we drove to all the stops and walked a little, beautiful place. We walked up the stairs to see the petroglyphs, it was worth the sweat. Must go back and hike when cooler.
Thomas Nystrand
Very scenic place 50 min from Las Vegas! Budget for 1 day visit for comfortable speed. Has about 5-6 smaller hikes which covers the main vistas (0.75 - 1.5 miles). Bring water and good shoes - expect hikes over both rock and sand.
Fun fact - many famous movies featured sequences from this park - con air, in cold blood, total recall, transformers,...
Merriliz
Amaaazzzzzzing everything and super awesome group camp sites. The group camp sites have its own mini outdoor kitchen space with grills, counters and huge covered eating area with more than enough tables. Private bathroom for the camp site; loved the fire pit seating.
Mister Jon
$10 admission gets you into this absolutely stunning state park. There are lots of hiking trails. The park is well upkept and clean. Park is open dawn to dusk. There is sufficient parking available and plenty of diverse rocks and formations to see. This is a perfect day trip. Consider bringing a cooler with food and drink for a picnic.
Jeffrey V
Great little state park overshadowed by all the National Parks in Arizona and Utah. Just outside of Las Vegas, it's a great place to seem some beautiful geology and get in some easy hikes.
Tamara Simpson
Such an amazing place about an hour and a half outside of Las Vegas. The red rocks and the blue skies are a sight to behold. And it was so nice I went twice in the middle of April.
Joe Smith
Beautiful place to visit. You can go out on short hikes to see things you can't see from a car. The hikes aren't that technical but you should still wear decent shoes for support, bring more water than you think you need and slather on the sunscreen! This was a good day trip from Vegas.
Tim Wilson
It's a giant play place. So many rocks and things to climb on
Marta Anne
It's a beautiful place. A bit similar to the Arches National Park, and yet very different. The hikes were spectacular. However, if you're going there in the summer time, don't forget sunscreen, hat and lots of water. Make sure you do some hikes, because the colors of the rocks are unbelievable. Lots of tiny lizards that run across the pathways. Breath taking place
Jelena Markovic
We loved this place! We went there couple days ago! AMAZING! It has many trails! I would recommend you to bring your own drinks and food for this trip. Don't forget you camera! Park is very beautiful! If you are lucky enough you might see a bighorn sheep, like we did on our way back! I recommend traveling early in the morning.
Jacqueline Houts
This place was breathtaking. Absolutely worth the visit. I highly recommend taking the short and fairly easy hike to see the petroglyphs. It was an incredible thing to see.
Jyoti Saini
It is a beautiful state park. I have been here twice. Beautiful red sandstone mountains. I hiked fire wave, mouse tank Rainbow vista and White domes trails. All of these are equally beautiful but white domes and fire wave are my favorite.
A must see park. Loved it
philip cole
All the trails are walking through sand. So be prepared to empty your shows after your walks to see the sites.
Meena Pradeep
Absolutely great views and park but way too crowded. We got there at 10 am because that's when the visitor center opened on that day but when we were trying to do hikes we ended up skipping some hikes because it was extremely overly crowded and there were no parking spots whatsoever.
Nadia
Awesome park! The rocks are beautiful and great campgrounds! One of the campgrounds has showers and restrooms. The camping spots are great and have pretty rocks surrounding the site. Love the park!
Brandon Beyer
Some breath taking views, scenic drives, and great hiking. Can't wait to go back and spend more time on the trails. Make sure you have enough storage for your phone/camera because almost everything o. The park is photo worthy. We spent three hours bumming around, but it would be totally worth it to get a campsite there and spend a night.
Alex Marsh
Absolutely beautiful. So much to see. We ran out of time and it got dark. Amazing hikes as well as scenery you can see from the car
Courtney K
$10 entry fee for a normal vehicle to access the park! I highly recommend downloading alltrails- they have a few more loops than the park provided map that will allow you to loop through several of the must see rock formations- crazy hill to fire cave from the movie set area is a MUST! Some rock scrambling but overall nothing too complicated, but Def wouldn’t recommend pets or kids on that trail. Get there early to hit the main trails, because it does get busy and you’ll end up with a ton of people in your photos.
Annie Drayton
I've been to some remarkable places in my sixty-two years. This is spectmarkable! (Spectacular and remarkable). There are a couple of ways to get to the park. I actually came by way of Vegas. I'm not going to talk about the drive from the freeway to the park. I will say it beautiful but please pay attention to the speed limit. It cost ten dollars per car. The fee is higher if you are camping. The guy at the gate was very helpful about which road to take to see a certain sight or how to get to the campground. He asked did I have enough water and sunscreen and to pay attention to the temperature and signs of dehydration and sunstroke. The map he gave me was very detailed. These are just a few pictures, I have tons of them for my vacation album. When you go,make sure you take the time to stop just for a few minutes and listen for it! After a moment, you'll realize something is very different. Then it hits you. Noise. All you hear is the sound of silence!
J Robertson
Wow, what a gorgeous place. Vistas are spectacular. Trails are mostly flat with some inclines. If you are an avid hiker are easily navigable if you are not the trails could use more markings. I found several people searching for directions. Take water!!! There are very few places to fill up. The visitor center had clean bathrooms and a cute gift shop, its parking was enough with additional overflow if needed.
Alicia Stine
This place is amazing. So glad that my friend and I went out to the Valley of fire. Very very beautiful and peaceful out there! If you haven't been its a must go! 😉 …
Philip Johnson
Beautiful park a little over an hour outside of Las Vegas. Several hiking trails, petroglyph, rams amazing scenery and more! Camping is available but we didn't camp this trip so I can't recruits that aspect of the park.
Tom Creative
This is an absolutely amazing area not far from Las Vegas with a brilliant, colorful landscape. We have gone in the winter, when it was comfortable to walk around. The rock formations and the colors are brilliant. There are various pullovers by the road where you can enjoy some of the smaller red rock formations, and there are also longer trails to take you through the part to sites far off the road. Good for either a short or long visit. Very dreamlike landscape. A real treasure.
Jami Tharp
Breathtaking and stunning. Im so glad my husband and I came to this park. We come to Vegas once or twice a year and love to visit different parks. We will definitely come back to this one.
Anica Michael
Wow! What an amazing place. Perfect getaway from the city. So much to explore, hidden canyons to hike (easy trails), gorgeous scenery of all shapes and colors!!!! A photographer's dream! I will definitely be going back. I was beyond pleasantly surprised and my kids loved it too. Went in February so the weather was perfect. Even saw some animals.
Michelle Elliott
I made a last minute decision to hike here, and I’m so glad I did! It was awesome! Go early, before the crowds arrive. It’s also WAY too hot in the summer. I went in late October, and it was perfect. Most of the hikes are in sand or partially in sand, so even 5 miles seems like a lot more. Take water! This place is beautiful.
Chris Yen
Pick up a good sunny day, not too hot, not too cold, or too windy..... you will definitely enjoy the park! Trails are well maintained & not too long..... just in the right distance!
M K
Amazing hiking spot! If you get lucky, you’ll get to not only enjoy the lovely trails, but also the wildlife. Do visit here if you get the chance — it’s well worth it.
S
Great park! Beautiful rocks!
Michael Evans
Beautiful and even kind of eerie. The rocks are naturally full of iron which rusts, giving the entire valley an orange-red color, which reflects red light onto everything you bring in.
Mia Craig
Initially, I was seeking out a company to take me and my daughter on a tour. I'm so glad I didn't do that and pay 125+ pp. I decided to prepare for the day and go on my own. I had a more rewarding experience. It's $10 to get in the park which happens to be self pay. The have restrooms throughout the park in certain locations. Which can be found by map or just driving by. The Valley of Fire had prehistoric beauty. Some of the trails were down in deep canyons. Also, wear appropriate attire like hiking boots or non skid shoes for all the climbing you might want to do. The terrain is mostly rock but some were sand also. Take lots of water as there's a sign that states no water fill ups beyond a certain point. The visitor center is has cool museum feature n gift shop. The play a short video about the park which is very educational. Be careful driving as there are sharp turns and dips in the road. This was well worth the drive to beat the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas. It's totally scenic. Also, if you go to the East end of the park by Elephant rock the have a photo op with a sign that says Greetings from the Valley of Fire State Park which was awesome! Support state parks and take a step back into time!
Ed Bonser
Arrived to the West entrance around 1030, found there to be a long annoyingly slow line. Once you get in though our group of 7 loved the White Domes hike. Our weather temp was around 70°,perfect. I recommend stopping at visitors center before starting your adventures.
Nicholas Novak
I went here in March and had a BALL! Valley of fire state park was so beautiful. I loved the Hieroglyphs and the rocks and sheep and the more rocks. If you want to see true beauty search no further than the pastel canyon
Katelin Sarria
Amazing place to go view and walk the mountains! It is 10$ to get in and remember to bring alot of water! Most trails are 30 mins to an hour. The gift shop sells water at $1 a bottle if you forget like we did! Great place for photos and to view the stars at night!
Nadine
Very beautiful! The “wave” hike is so worth it! Similar to Arizona wave, very pretty and the hike isn’t too long. It’s super hot there, pack water and sunscreen! Much worth the visit!
Erin Bacher
Absolutely breathtaking and a must see. Be sure to drive the whole route and get out at each spot as the landscape is different at each one. We had our one year old with us and didnt get to hike, but would have loved to. If/when we visit the area again, we will definitely be returning.
Clint Anderson
I've hiked some pretty cool places but Valley of Fire is a special place. If you don't hike no sweat. There are some easy quick trails and stops or just drive through if you have to. Just go. The petroglyphs are as distinct and plentiful I've seen. The colors and rock formations are absolutely incredible. The white dome trail is so much fun to walk/hike. Its called a moderate hike but it's definitely not really difficult. Words and even the photos don't really do justice to how beautiful this place is.
cori beddow
Loved the open space and different colors of rock. The landscape is amazing. Worth the drive and time. Nevada State Park fees.
Manuela Parisi
Must see when in Vegas! We went in December, it was chill, but perfect weather for hike. Washrooms are scarce and no restaurants in the park so bring your own food.
Brandon Fisher
I won’t lie to you - drive the hour and visit this state park! I live in Cali and it’s full of state and national parks and Valley of Fire is on par. Enjoyed a beautiful morning hiking. Beautiful rock formations and easy parking at each trail. I went on a weekday so there wasn’t much traffic. Hope to get back soon to see the fire wave!
Sierra Lake
This place was AMAZING! We did a loop hike that made me glad we started a bit early. We were getting back to the car just after 12pm a d if it hadn't been the end of January we would have been really hot. I would suggest doing the longer hikes earlier in the day and taking plenty of water. The fire wave was probably the coolest site although everything there was pretty amazing.
Levi B.
Really cool place with lots of great trails. They have short and long trails. We went in March and it was a good time because during the summer it would be a real scorcher out there. We also saw some big horned sheep along one of the trails and near the road on the way out of the park so keep your eyes open for wildlife.
Chris
This is a fantastic state park and one of the few natural wonders you can visit so close to Las Vegas. It makes for a wonderful day trip and is excellent if you're not looking to go on long or strenuous hikes. They've added roads to most of the major features of the park, so you can simply drive up, look around take pictures etc. then drive to the next location. It's 10 dollars to get in and they also have camping sites available. I would highly recommend doing the scenic loop around the white domes. It's a short 1.26 mile hike or so and goes through some amazing scenic views including a little canyon pass.
Anatoliy Pavlun
Great place to explore with endless caves just make sure there is no ram in it😁, there was more to see than I expected well worth it. This place is more interesting than the Grand canyon in my opinion... Since it offers so much more to be physically engaged with. …
galleonK
I love visiting this park. It is probably my favorite park in Nevada. So much to see, abundance of colors is just mind blowing. If you plan to go hiking, make sure to bring lots of water and a hat.
Akshay Jawharkar
45 minutes drive away from the craziness of the Las Vegas strip lies the most beautiful state park you're ever likely to visit. The valley of fire state park is aptly named for it's bright red Aztec sandstone rocks and canyons. The drive through the park is incredibly gorgeous and is peppered with small well maintained trails. Every trail we visited was covered with soft red sand and is easy to walk on. The entire landscape is absolutely stunning and as the park states, it is indeed an absolute adventure in color.
Yi Wang
The great hiking place. We hiked in white Domes and Rainbow Vista. The color of rocks are very fantasy purple, and white in White Domes. Both hiking trails 1.1 miles take about 30-40 minutes.
Solofemalehiker38
So gorgeous here... We did not have a full day to explore when we went, but I wish we had. Beautiful campgrounds, I would have loved to stayed at one of the two we saw. We saw 3 big horn sheep by the visitors center, lizards and chipmunk. Beautiful red rock and clay formations. Give yourself a full day or more to explore this beautiful park.
Windy Goss Your Real Estate Boss
Had an amazing time wheeling and camping here!
Diana Demchenko
Such a beautiful place! I wish I knew about this place sooner. I went two days in a row and want to go back for more. I was there during hot weather and drove to each spot without hiking. I’m sure I missed out on some things but it was incredible even without the hikes. Everything is accessible by car & the heat was fine.
BEGOTUBE
I love that its so close to Vegas 30 to 40min drive from the strip. Park and hike to many areas. Restrooms are at the Visitors Center.
Kim Rohrs
This was a wonderful day trip during our time in Las Vegas. Such a beautiful drive from the Hoover Dam to the Valley of Fire. Definitely my favorite part of our trip. If you plan on doing the hikes, I would get there early and bring plenty of water and snacks.
Jeff Downs
Beautiful place. Loved the trails. I want to bring the kids back next time. Be sure to go to the slot canyon, fire wave, and the stone cabins. There are also some pretty interesting displays of petrified logs. The ranger at the visitors center was very helpful. There is also a nice display of petroglyphs.
Alexandra Sandoval
One word "BEAUTIFUL" definitely going back, had a great time with husband and kids... we visited Bee Hives, we hike mouses tank trail, Rainbow Vista, and Fire Canyon. We didn't have time 2 do the rest but we will definitely going back to go 2 Elephant Rock and White Domes. We couldn't see the Sunset BUT we had a glimpse of it and it was beautiful.... The visitor Center is small but nice 👌.
Rita Nitollama
It's a beautiful Nevada State Park. Worthted to visit and seeing the colorful sandstone mountains, rock arches. Filled with panoramic Vista's that you can see from your car.
Shela Mobarak
So beautiful and well worth your time to stop!
Phantom Royal
Even though it was still closed a little. I still enjoyed myself, it was clean and well kept and it was my first time and I was impressed. I still talk about it and will also tell people this is a place to visit. Seeing nature and the past that tells stories though pictures. The old paths that ancestors have traveled it just blows my mind. There are so many chances for cool photos to be taken and memories made. Finding path's to really find a part of your soul's past. There is alot to take in which keeps you busy. Just make sure you respect the land and the people you come across. Keep treasures like this around for your children's children.
Tayari Holliday
ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING. Only an hour from the strip. It definitely worth renting a car and going for the day. We got a late start and was only able to spend a couple of hours, but it was worth it. The park closed at sundown, and trust me...you won't want to be there after sundown. It really is complete seclusion. The silence is beautiful.
Terri Fisher
We loved our visit! It was very hot so I would bring more water next time! Spring or Fall would have been more ideal. Lots of great scenic drives, trails and pull off areas. A really fun day!
Brian Poppe
Beautiful and worth the drive. Blows Redrock out of the water
C3MI
Just an all around beautiful place! There are several stops along the road between the east and west entrance/exits with plenty of picture opportunities and plaques to read up on the history of each place.
Lars Normark Holmgaard
Always a pleasure visiting the valley of fire. We go very often, car or motorcycle. Catch the sunrise or the sundown if you can, the colors is amazing.
Lily Dang
Beautiful state park not too far away from Las Vegas. I would recommend this place for anyone who loves dramatic desert scenery. The Fire Wave here is like a smaller version of The Wave in Arizona but you don't need permit to get to it. The park itself isn't too huge so be sure to do the full drive. You'll see beautiful colors on the canyons and rocks. If you're lucky like we were, you'll see bighorn sheep too.
Efstathia Kalapothakos
It takes your breath away. The drive from Vegas was surprisingly short, we ventured out last day to see the rocks and am so happy we didn't skip this mini venture. You are able to camp if interested, price is by the car and camping is additional. So many natural scapes to look at, do mini hikes to catch the views. Just keep in mind it is cooler than the city by about ten to fifteen degrees. It was probably the best part of our trip and would recommend to anyone that wants to see the natural beauty of Nevada for the day.
Mark Jones
I've find the dramatic, varied geometry of the Southwestern desert to be fascinating. But the monochromatic gray color can be boring. Valley of Fire State Park shatters this sameness with majestic red cliffs, stark white hill tops, and rugged canyons painted with a rainbow of brown, yellow and orange. It's well worth the short (1 hour) trip from Vegas.
David Bowman
This is a great little park to visit with $10 entrance fee. Lots of things to do that are fairly easy and close to the road. We hiked the Top of the World Arch hike that is on AllTrails. Really was hard to find the trail had to do it with map downloaded and GPS on phone. We marked the left side of the loop with cairns to help future hikers and we had a great time. Took about 3 hours at an easy pace and finding our way.
Chris Cerruti - Ritter
Awesome morning of sightseeing and hiking. Not to be missed!
Enjoyed the Mountain goat family as well. Nice visitor center.
Shannon
Only one hour from Vegas with jaw dropping hikes and views. Several different terrains, with varying colors. I arrived early 7am because of the heat. I spent 5 hours there solo exploring the different hikes plotted out. Lovely, will return.
Eyris Polzine
Absolutely stunning, very interesting rock formation and color patterns all throughout this park! Certainly worth the drive
Kolayah Martincic
This was definitely worth hiking there are a lot of cool canyons in this area. I found this to be better than Red Rock Canyon, since it has arches, and different canyons. I would recommend hiking the trail here, it’s relatively easy to hike.
Bob Hart
I still can't believe how amazing this park is. $10 to enter the park and you can easily spend a day hiking around and taking pics. We happened to go on the perfect day in regards to temperature as it was 68 deg and breezy. The trails are marked so it's easy get around and you can climb on everything. It's one of the coolest places I have ever been to in my life!

This has got to be the most beautiful, best hike I have ever taken. Wow! I can't say enough about this truly awesome place. The rock formations are out of this world! So much beauty. I spent all day here, and only went on 3 trails. There is many more trails throughout valley of the fire. There's lot's of wildlife, was able to come across a herd of mountain sheep, they were really great to watch. Going back again, and again, and again, so far from finished with this place!

Mother nature truly is the master sculptor. Even her imperfections are perfect. What an amazing and special place. Walking down to the fire wave is great but when you get to the end of the trail and look around you'll see what mother nature is capable of and its just like a magic. I took 305 pictures in the park that day and would have taken more if my battery didn't die.

This place is incredible. The colors and the rock formations are like nothing I’ve seen. we stop by here on our way from Zion. I wouldn’t compare the two because they are both. Unlike Zion, here you actually get to be in and on the rocks. It feels so
Immersive. We did a few different trails, white dome, fire wave trail, and the mouse’s tank. I really enjoyed all of them you really get to climb around the rocks and scramble around. At white dome there are small slot canyons to go through which are really cool.
There are lots of places to climb it’s a great place to take the family and have a picnic. The have picnic tables at the begging of white dome trail.

Valley of Fire is about an hour north of Las Vegas in Overton. It's inexpensive to get in ($10) and it's not as overcrowded as other parks if you get there early in the morning.
The views are splendid, and there's much to explore in this state park. There are a great number of different rock formations sculpted by time and erosion, and geological wonders offering awe-inspiring views of what nature was up to for millions of years.
The hikes range from easy to strenuous, but all of them provide a great experience and visual treats. The fine sand is soft for some of the trails, but can prove to give you a workout since sinking your feet in will double your effort in moving forward.

An amazing visit. From the glorious view from the distant Ranger Station to the remarkable petroglyphs, this State Park is a must and perfect warmup to visiting the parks of South Utah.

I have only seen such stunning landscapes on one other occasion. The Valley of Fire, and the greater Nevada desert, is rich with unique geological formations and vibrant colors. The land contains rises, curves, and expansive flats. A few hours in the car was breathtaking, and I could have easily spent more time there. $10 park entrance fee is well worth it.

Wow, I was not expecting this hidden gem! This is a must see park for those visiting near Las Vegas. Only a little over an hour away from the city, but low light pollution if you’re looking for stars, and a great place to spend the afternoon, or a few days exploring. Be sure to look for sheep and check out the petroglyphs. Great campsite area as well.

Amazing place to spend the day, highly recommend. Only $10/car. The rocks are beautiful and glow in the sun. Driving and walking among the rocks will take your breath away. There are many trails to explore deeper if you wish to hike. This place is about 1 hour 20 minutes away from Las Vegas.

Absolutely breathtaking landscape, expect to spend the whole day going to different sections! I was so amazed at the size of these formations and the colors, I can't believe these are naturally forming and I'm just seeing them for the first time at 30 years old. The most amazing part for me was the petroglyphs, to think about how long those have been around and their original use (obviously to convey a message) is just fascinating to me and I love that it's preserved and respected here. I think this is such an incredible place to bring your family and learn about the history/environment of this area. Not only is the landscape itself amazing but some of the State Park roads are challenging and you must be paying attention to the road at all times! It's absolutely worth the price of admission (ONLY $10!) considering how much time you can spend in here. I visited by myself in April and it was pretty busy with tourists but the park is so big that you can walk around for hours at different places so you don't have to be around a lot of people all the time. I can't upload all of the photos I took because it was like everything I saw was just mind blowing since I grew up in New England and have nothing even remotely like this! Places like this make me proud of our great nation and I really appreciate what the National Parks Service because who knows what this would have become if it wasn't protected. But that's just how I feel about all parks.

I do not have knowledge of strong enough adjectives to describe the beauty of this place. We got married here nine years ago and wanted to come to enjoy it without all the jitters. That was the best decision of this trip. The colors, the rock formations, the way the colors blend within each other. Some rocks look like they could fall over with a touch, but you know they have been that way for who knows how long. Stop at every place you can. The trails were all easily walkable and everyone paid off with beautiful views. Take the time to sit and admire the views, you will not be disappointed. As we were leaving we were treated by about 30 Big Horns grazing by the road. Amazing experience all day.

Absolutely amazing!
We came here just an hour before the sunset.
Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the whole park but the rainbow vista, wow!!
