Reviews of White River State Park
I have come here for two years in a row during the summer... It's always a nice place to relax and take pictures. Good atmosphere and tons of activities going on to get involved with.
Recommend as a nice place to relax and possibly have a picnic :)
A very cute intersection of city and nature. There’s a little waterfall, I saw a huge white-tailed bird, dragonflies, geese. There’s a more naturey trek just over the bridge. There’s lots of grass, tables, and benches to camp out but I found a huge boulder to have lunch 10/10 would recommend!
You can visit over and over and always do and see new things. It's just so huge a space. So much walking! I suggest you bring a few snacks, maybe a picnic lunch. Your ear buds and a book. And hang out for a few hours. It's just beautiful and relaxing. A great day anyday.
Five star park here. Beautiful, wide open green spaces are complimented by some wooded areas nearer to downtown. Hang a hammock and relax with the quiet sounds of the city in the background. When I visited, there were some school groups there, enjoying the space. An ultimate team was practicing in one of the open fields. It was a really nice place to wander around, taking in all the pretty sights. Waterfall, river, trees, and the pretty buildings and art. Really cool place to come solo or with your crew. Every time I visit Indy, I visit this park. Oh, and how could I forget the vendors! I went midday, it was hot, and I was starting to feel worn out. I headed back to my hotel to grab food but then ran into the vendors! Super nice, great prices (they take cards!). Pumped that blood sugar back up and spent another hour enjoying the space. Don't forget to take the trail along the river. Some really excellent shaded spots to sit for a read.
Went to see H.E.R. and it was amazing! I wish there were more food trucks options but it was a fun, bright and loud show. Everything you can ask for in a concert. I didn't like the fact that they had to hold your bag for $5 but I guess I can understand.
Nice open park with access to walk down to the river or the bridge over to the zoo. Not many people there during the week.
I love this place; whether for jogging, walking or even just sitting with my morning coffee. Also one of best places to observe fall in Indianapolis.
So glad we walked over and checked out the park. Lots of grassy areas to enjoy. You can easily find a place to sit in the shade or sun. Interesting art. Ducks, geese, turtles and squirrels added interest for our little.
Lovely venue in the middle of downtown Indianapolis. Unfortunately, due to a lack of signage, issues with parking and closed off sections, our experience was less than ideal. Our first problem was parking. The signs for visitor parking directed us to an area that barricaded and restricted. We found our way to a parking garage that had posted rates. It was early on a Sunday morning, so we were sorry to see the cost would be $8 for one hour or less. We knew we would cut our trip short to stay under that limit.
We never found a welcome center or official "entrance". It looked like many businesses, green spaces and walking trails near the river is the park. There may be more, but we found no real signage explaining that.
We enjoyed walking the grounds, admiring the art, green spaces and buildings. There were several bikers and runners enjoying some early morning exercise. We noticed a huge section was blocked off with temporary barricades. When we found some signage on the barricade, we realized the barricade enclosed a concert venue that closed off one section of the park for about half the year. Is that area ever free to explore?
After a walk over the bridge we saw an entrance to a zoo (closed), we realized there was little left to explore, so we headed back to our car in the garage. A kiosk started talking to us to insert our parking ticket. Fortunately, we had it with us and inserted it. It didn't ask for payment, but gave it back to us. We thought it might be broken. We wandered the parking garage for a while (no maps) but, we finally found the car. When we left, the parking ticket opened the gate. Again, no charge for parking. At that point we figured parking was free on a Sunday. Too bad we didn't know that initially. We would have spent longer in the park.
Overall, this is a nice space to explore, I definitely would not pay $8 to park do that, but we may return on a future Sunday.
I didn't see a playground, picnic area, no pets, and no public restrooms available. They need to update signs for those who are unfamiliar with this venue. Update 12/11/22: we returned for a long walk on a Sunday. This time it cost us $10 for parking. We won't be back. There needs to be better signage and an opportunity to park for free on weekends for joggers and walkers
White River State Park has it all! It's downtown Indy, museums, river, hiking paths, scooter/bike rentals, fountains, impromptu musicans, beautiful architecture, IMax and, best of all, TCU Amphitheater.
TCU has a fabulous lineup of music groups for 2022 summer-- Lyle Lovett, Robert Plant/ Allison Krause, Billy Strings, etc. Seats are very reasonable, especially Lawn. IMPORTANT! Carry Clear purse of very small purse--they will make you check anything bigger.
The Canal was clean no trash, policemen walking around. We went to ride the boat on canal. Very pretty and relaxing scenery. People being respectful to one another. Tht was a great nite
This is a beautiful urban park! Its a nice place to walk around, and the river they had was very nice. During the fall, the wind is very cold. Overall, recommend this park, as we will be coming back soon!
Re: TCU amphitheater
Nice medium-sized family-friendly venue on the west side of Indianapolis. Quick lines, mostly friendly staff.
Labor day 2021 was the 1st time I've riden my bicycle downtown to look at the sites and I wasn't disappointed. There is so much to see and do. It was an enjoyable experience.
Had a great day at the park. We rented bicycles, went to the Indian museum and enjoyed the sights.
FYI... if you are going to the museum, they will validate your underground parking ticket. We didn't know that and ended up paying for parking in outside lot.
Lots of activities, many things to do indoor or outdoor. You'll surely love a visit here.
I saw The Used & Coheed and Cambria. Such a great venue! Feels very intimate, and there are no bad seats. I was in the pit area right in front of the stage, but even the lawn seats aren't real far back. The only down side was the price of drinks. I bought 2 drinks @ $13 each, and added a 15% tip, but I got charged $42.55. Also, it was only like a 5 minute walk from my hotel.
Convenient state park winds its way through downtown adds to the unique nature of the city
It is a place where you can have fun with the family and bring your fur babies along also and play with them also. There is a canal that is available for those who want to enjoy a walk around it with places to stop and eat at. It also has pieces of history around it and there is a playground area for the children on the north end of the canal. There is so a fish pond there too but fishing is not allowed. They have a place where you can buy ice cream products to enjoy and rent paddle boats so you can go on the canal. It is a way to have fun with the family close to home.
Small Park but very serene and beautiful. I visited in Winter so it was a bit chilly so we just made a quick stop to check out the park, but it was nice
Awesome spot to explore when your in Indy. Plenty of grass to sit, lay, play on with nice scenery. At the southern end of the Canal, so a great place to start a canal walk from. You can also access the Zoo by crossing over the Washington Street Bridge located here. Buggy rentals, communal garden, professional baseball field, large commons area to lay out or play Frisbee etc, riverside views, Segway rentals, public art installations.
Had a great time on my birthday 🎂 🥳 beautiful …
walked along the river and was nice, seating not spread out but set so many seats are in one area which can be nice but in my case with walking with two other people it was alright. Very clean even had "traps" to catch trash in the river. swan boats are there but not my thing way too cheese and not something to ride with your brother and mother. otherwise very nice.
Ultimate urban park
Art, museums, a stadium, zoo and gardens within short walk
Went to a concert here, really like the Amphitheater. Will return for future concerts.
It's basically a really nice walking path next to a canal that seems to serve no other purpose. There is a lot of art installations, memorials, and nice things to look at. It seemed really peaceful the couple of times I went. There is even housing along parts of the canal. There are a museums along it as well in case you want to pop out and do something different. You can even access the zoo from the one end.
Great place for a fun outing with the family. You can rent shooters , bikes, surreys for the entire family to pedal down the trail and see the sites. Also ride down the canal walk or rent pedal boats to cruise the water canal. It's so much fun and everyone will have a great time!
I love coming to this location with my wife. It is a wonderful place to go play Pokémon Go... Lol. Also very beautiful location to escape and enjoy peaceful and beautiful landscapes. The canal is wonderful during the day but very nice at evening and night times as well. Some areas along the canal walk are lit with decorative lights that give soft romantic and peaceful vibes. I love walking with my wife here during the evening time.
Awesome park, place and light show at the memorial.
I mean, if you're looking for a nice walk during a sunset with some friends, maybe a boo then this would be perfect. I can't suggest a time to go because Indy is wishy-washy with sunsets but it's always a great place to go and walk and chill with whomever. Enjoy.
This is such a beautiful park next to the White River. It is very clean and has lots of varied architectural pieces and gardens, with the best views of downtown Indianapolis.
A fun place to watch Pro Wrestling. Only thing I didn't like is the expensive parking. No reason it should be so expensive. It's the highest price I've ever saw for such a place. Make sure and park a few blocks East and enjoy the walk.
This is the cleanest park I have ever been to. Beautiful walk. Scenery is incredible. So much to see and do.
Beautiful state park along the river in the city of Indianapolis. Wonderful place to get some fresh air and sun. When we went, it was full of people walking, skating, playing, doing photoshoots. It seems clean and safe, lots of families out walking.
Definitely a beautiful space to take advantage of in the city!

Beautiful, clean and well maintained park. I went there for an event on Saturday. Loved it so much that I ended up going there again the following two days, even though my allergies were killing me. I seem to be very allergic to whatever is in the park that not even my allergy meds are helping. Nothing a few giant packets of tissue can’t fix.
Have not made it inside the zoo or the butterfly garden yet because I found a very comfy bench ended and tree and lost track of time in a book. It was so relaxing I didn’t realize several hours had passed.
I did take a walk along the Promenade one day, it was very quiet with an occasional jogger or cyclists passing by. The trail was very tranquil, but it felt safe even without a lot of people because of the security cameras scattered along the route.
AFSP Out of the darkness community walk
❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🤍 …
Beautiful place, loved the closeness to the zoo (walking distance). Lovely scenery. Went for the Wizards Unite Fan Fest and had a rad time. Parking in the structure is a bit iffy, staying over 6hrs is $40 and up.
Walk for the cure! Amazing time for a great cause!
So nice and beautiful! The sidewalks could use some repairs (cracks or lifted patches) but otherwise a very scenic walkway with lots of activity. Murals under the bridges are really amazing!
There's no words. You seriously have to come here yourself to experience its true beauty! From the trails to the canal, like.... this would be the number one reason why I'd move to Indianapolis. If you're visiting this city for the first time like me, rent a bike and go on a self-tour all around downtown on the first day if you can. It'll definitely set the excitement and atmosphere for the rest of your stay here like it did to us!
This is not your typical state park because it is an urban park in Indianapolis. We enjoyed our walk on the canal and the scenery. If you are looking for a relaxing time in the city, this is a great place to visit.
Beautiful views and peaceful!
I really love the canal walk. Right in the heart of Indianapolis. You can find something everyone enjoys along the way. Taking in the scenery, paddle boating, museum tour, dining, trust me, you will find something you like. I like the way they incorporate things going on downtown with the canal walk. In the pictures you can see the water is green...that's not algae, well most of it's not. The green in the water was for an "Go Green" environment event going on at this time. I heard they also do a blue for the Colts, but I haven't seen that. I think they could use a few more dining options along the walk. My personal favorite is the Eiteljorg museum. The walk is free of charge but plan on spending around $3-$8 for parking and a little extra for anything else you choose to do or place you plan to visit.
Great walking park! I have spent many hours here and will definitely be back! Parking can be expensive.
This is a metropolitan park in indianapolis downtown. Amazing riverside walkway. Pleanty of free space to enjoy your time with your nears and dears. I have enjoyed the park so much as it is well maintained lawn, nice and clean riverwalk, hopefull anybody will like to spend time here. There is paid parking available in the park premisses.
Wonderful park want to go in the summer Time to enjoy the Concerts
I've always liked White River State Park and the TCU amphitheater. It's the perfect music venue outside downtown. It holds just the right amount of people so it's not overcrowded. And they have great, fantastic, even phenomenal shows. The security and police there are always there to help and they have pedicab pilots that give you rides just for a nice tip. That's real. No overcharging from them either. I recommended highly.
Beautiful park located in downtown Indianapolis. Walked the canal for a while. Felt safe the whole time. The whole area was clean and open. Beautiful gardens and sights lined the canal. I'd love to go back when I have more time to explore. There was a lovely garden as well.
What a fantastic resource for Indianapolis.
The newly renovated stage is a real positive game changer for upcoming events! One of the features is hidden inside the new stage tower. There is a SkyDeck wire tension grid installed that makes working on show rigging safe and easy. It is the same technology the large arena venues are beginning to use to get shows in and out of the venue in record time.
Visited again 4/23/22
Really good day to explore and enjoy the day!
The park itself is amazingly beautiful, clean, and pleasant to explore. We saw a band play here and the set up was nice, the bathrooms were nice (not porta potties), and the staff was friendly.
My only complaint is that parking was super confusing, even though we paid to park - it took us a good while to even figure out how to get out of the garage.
One of my favorite places to walk my dog, take a stroll or go running sometimes, every time of the year is a different experience
Great place to chill in the downtown area. Location A+ and well maintained.
Excellent amphitheater! Ease access great sound. Looking forward to returning next week to see Alice Cooper. Update Alice was awesome! Looking forward to next season
It was a beautiful day and really enjoyed walking. You can rent paddle boats and bicycles to move around the white river state park.
This place makes you feel like a tourist. You can rent a cycle and ride with your family around the park. You can also rent a peddling boat.
This Park is a must see in Indianapolis great walking ,pattle Boat great scenery
The park is beautifully landscaped. Lots of walking and biking paths. If you don't have a bike you can rent one or a motorized scooter. One can also access an entrance to the zoo. The NCAA headquarters and museum is also located here.
We had a family outing there and had a great time! Our family are related to the McCormicks mentioned on the historic marker.
Had a really nice time here for a concert and the amenities are fantastic! Plenty of food and drink options, although expensive, which is to be expected at any venue. Love that they provided lawn chairs while supplies lasted. Will definitely be back!
A great place for exploring and staying active. Couldn't say it better than "The canal walk is a 3-mile loop is a popular urban respite for fitness enthusiasts and serenity-seekers alike. This Downtown waterfront is dotted with pedal boats and gondolas, bicycles and surreys"
Beautiful park and cheap parking a dollar an hour secured parking love it. Tons to do!! We did THE GLO RUN so much fun! Oh FYI for all Pokémon hunters great spots for some rares!! But go visit to see which ones!! ;)
We came to see REO Speedwagon in concert. The venue is a pretty awesome place to see a concert. On this night they provided chairs to us at no cost, but it looks like they could carry a rental fee at times. It was a beautiful night. The staff were courteous and efficient. Drinks are outrageously priced. Plan on $5 or more for water or pop. $15 or more for beer or other drinks. Also plan on showing up early. Parking was at a premium. All of the close lots were full, including the Mariott. Parking at the Mariott is $34. We found a spot across from the Mariott for $20. There are two other venues within blocks of each other, so it can be busy. A great way to get around town are the BIRD electric scooters. Just grab one, activate it through the app, and fly around town. Overall we had a great time and after ate at Giordano's. Look for a review of that too. It was good!
TCU amphitheater. The new pavilion with new huge video screens and new sweet sound system turned out Awesome! Had a great experience!
Hidden treasure downtown, small intimate Amphitheater.:-) fantastic views of stage and sound is great! Very service-oriented. Try buying a lawn ticket and upgrading to the Bandstand. Next year season tickets for sure👍✔👊😌 …
Great place for going on walks, or bike rides! Kid friendly and fun, highly recommend, good place for a date, or family outing, or just something you can do in your freetime.
Very nice place. Was there for a concert and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Wow, what can I say, about the beautiful city of Indianapolis!? The birth home of Legendary Musican and Songwriter, Kenneth Babyface Edmonds. The birth home of Comedian/Actor, Mike Epps. Peyton Manning; HOF Quarterback turn Commercial Actor, place Indianapolis officially on the Map per National Football League. Reggie Miller; HOF SG turn Analyst added to an already craze Basketball Town. With the Indianapolis 500 going Zoom Zoom with amazement. A downtown atmosphere with sports arena all in one spot and a beautiful, Circle Centre Mall in the middle. With Ruth Chris on The Right, Well Acclaimed Indianapolis Zoo and Childern's Museum on Left across from TGI Fridays; the scenery in Downtown Indianapolis is beautiful. Yes, the city get Underrated as a small market verses a Chicago; just an one hour train ride away or vs an Atlanta, NYC, Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, Dallas, and Phoenix. However, Indianapolis is more authentic and real; especially when it is the underdog. An underdog, I will like to call home instead of just making cameos.
Nice place to walk, jog or run. Peaceful and amazing view of downtown indy specially sunrise ❤️
Had a fabulous day at the State Museum. Watched a movie, had the best soup and sandwich from the Cafe next to the Tea Room, and walked the canal.
One of my favorite places to walk downtown! The canal is a beautiful location that is well upkept with plenty of entertainment options. I highly recommend visiting this city park and will return many more times in the future.
Very big park but surprising no restrooms . Nice park and very nice scenic view.
Very beautiful setting. We traveled here and enjoyed Ribber Fest.
Great upgrades to the place! Lawn is a little to small for blankets.... Made it hard to find a place to watch the show.... may consider adding a few more jumbo screens on the outside posts for the lawn.
Fabulous place for music. We saw Billy Strings on July 29 with his band and they tore the roof off. Be ready for high priced beverages. You can take in empty water bottles to fill for free.
Loved this place and will make it a regular for my scenic walks!
A peaceful spot near downtown area for a walk.
You can either walk or bike, either way you sure will enjoy it. Next to the museum, Imax theater and the canal. Bike rentals available, so much fun!
Very open and not elbow to elbow people, plus it's family friendly. You can really step back and enjoy the show and no matter where you are, you can see the stage. Parking was $15 and drinks were reasonable given the area. Food was priced decently and we enjoyed what we had (pizza). We loved the music and the venue.
Highly recommend this venue and we will definitely be see shows here in the future!
Beautiful ... Great place to spend a day or evening being active with family and friends. Every time you go back you find something you missed before. Lots of fun and good memories to be made!
This venue was absolutely gorgeous! We will definitely be coming back as this venue is way better than ours in our Hometown in Cincinnati Ohio! This was so worth the hotel and the 2.5 hour trip!
Pretty cool walk...you can rent kayaks and pedal boats. Recommend it to kill a few hours in Indianapolis.
Being a Landscape Architect & Horticulture I truly thrive on, never been to Indianapolis before, then coming across this WOW of a specimen. Well needless to say, while I was taking pics & drooling... I lost my husband, daughter, son in law, & Grandkids because they kept waking. HA! Could easily take 6-8 people hand in hand to hug 🫂 this trunk. Have a Goodie 🤗
If it is Summer and you are not at White river park, definitely you are missing something. Beautiful place to be close with the nature. Kids can play, adults can workout, dogs can have fun. The best part of Indianapolis. Go and enjoy the nature and make it yours with the fresh air.
Great place for a nice stroll along the canal and a nature walk. There is plenty to do and see all around the park and canal.
The Indy Canal Walk and White River Park is a beautiful spot in Downtown Indianapolis. The NCAA Hall of Champions is located at the park. A great place to bring the family and out of area guests! Boat and bike rentals available, and several food stands too.
Oh and I'm really really sorry to the girl that I strong-armed for a guitar pick This venue is beautiful never been there before we had a great time Sammy Hagar rocked was actually blown away by the performance by Night Ranger they were rocking it out got to ride a bicycle Rickshaw back to the parking garage 2 that was sweet never got to do that before thank you Roy K Smith for everything you're such a sweetheart. And I'm really really sorry to the girl I had to strong-arm to get the guitar pick away it flew right through my hands between her feet but I was on it
Beautiful place. So much to do. Love coming here for the 4th of July or just to walk down the canal
Not being from Indy, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect from this urban park, but on a recent, not-quite-warm, but otherwise sunny spring day I found the park to rather pleasant and easy to appreciate. The Park itself has a nice blend of green space and walking paths mixed in with some artwork and access to several museums as well as the scenic canal walk.
My wife and I enjoyed a great walk on her birthday. We really enjoyed the local culture, scenery and people. There was plenty of art to look at on the canal walk (not that I get into art at all).
Large park that is well maintained. We spent most of our time walking the canal.
We enjoyed walking and seeing the interesting sculptures by the river.
The only thing that would have made it better would have been if the sun was shinning.
Went to see Wakkanda Forever! Great movie, wonderful atmosphere, popcorn outstanding. Had a wonderful time with family.
Really amazing place to walk and enjoy the calming nature. Take a bike or stick to jogging to grasp some cool fresh air.
Wonderful walking paths along the canal with much to see and enjoy. Very clean and well maintained.
This is a wonderful place full of educational sights, inside and out
Beautiful!! Absolutely stunning!! I love this space! Such a nice green space in the middle of the city. The only frustration I have is the parking. You must park in the underground lot which is pretty pricy. But, that’s not unexpected in the city. Well worth it to get to see the river and all of the beautiful landscaping in the park!
Had a good time at a Primus concert there the other night. It's a nice place to see a show.
💪 …
Such a beautiful park they have a fun things to do like rent bikes or rend a paddle boat they also have a stand where they sell some delicious hot dogs 😌 definitely a good place to enjoy the sun and stroll around for a while . …
Beautiful setting. The canal is great, as well as the gardens. Paddleboat and kayak rentals.
Attended our first concert at the new TCU amphitheater . Sound was pretty good.. Pavilion is nice..overall good experience.Pic was taken on our walk back across the footbridge after the show.
Beautiful experience, big walking paths, a zoo and 3 museums and a wonderfull river walk
Great space to spend with your family and is within walking distance of downtown.
It's in short walking distance from the convention center and many hotels. It's beautiful. Water, waterfalls, smooth paths, ducks, turtles - very relaxing
We've been to several shows here and it's always a great experience. I prefer the reserved seats but lawn is nice as well. Convenient parking. Bit of a walk to get to the performance space.
Great place for some peace and quiet int he spring
After park you car go to NCCA lobby and get a discount coupon for parking. It was 0-3 hour for $8 but I paid zero. Because I stayed there less than 1 hour. Or if you stay longer flat rate $5 per car.
One of THE best venues ever. Robert Plant & Allison Krauss were amazing as was the whole experience.
A beautiful place. No matter if it is during the day or at night. You can rent a bike or a scooter or even take a stroll and enjoy a safe park.
Beautiful place in indy, but don't go after dark.
First time attending a concert there last night. Very nice venue, but alcohol extremely overpriced. A 16oz Yingling $14.75.
Beautiful park. A very active place. Everybody out enjoying the park and weather.
Very nice amphitheater! Could use some big fans and some sunshade on the south end. But still great place to see a concert!
a peaceful place where you can.just sit down and.enjoy the sunshine 😊😊but be prepared for.parking fees 😊😊 …
I enjoy it when I go. No playground, yes restrooms. Doubt they allow dogs. Not sure about picnic
A great place among the very few exciting places in Indianapolis:(.
Absolutely beautiful day everybody was out and smiling having fun. Pokemon go community day was a decent success.
Wow! Lots of variety of surfaces to walk on. There is concrete, stone, grass, mulch, and gravel. Plenty of ducks, but not too many. There is a decent selection of public art in varying shapes and sizes. Plenty of places to sit with various views. Plenty of museums. Easy walking distance from zoo or downtown.
Went to the new amphitheatre for Billy Strings. Great venue and sound. Billy may be one of our favorite young performers. He knows his way around a guitar.
Nice park with the canal walk and museums. $6 for first 2 hours parking.
Great spot to kill a few hours. Check out the Canal Walk and Museums.
World class tourist attractions having green vegetation, museum, amphitheatre, IMAX theatre, live music concerts, trails alongside river, big parking space etc.
Beautiful park in an awesome area. Tons to see! The park was nice and clean
Cozy music venue. A nice alternative to Deer Creek. The parking garage was easy in and out.
So much to see and do! The wide open green spaces are great for Frisbee, picnics, kit flying, and more.
Played a concert here last night and had a blast. Great venue and staff. Awesome vibes.
Stopped here half way home to Wisconsin from Louisville, Kentucky to break up the road trip and to get our workout in. We highly recommend the canal walk to anyone passing through.
I would have gave 5 stars but $ 17.00 for a slushy with vodka or rum seemed a little high, and bathroom lines, ugh👍✌️☮️ …
Awesome area, grounds are well kept. Great space for recreation and outdoor events. Many groups have meetings and such on the property. There are lots of wonderful spots, such as the amphitheater, oval and a cool rock.
Great place to send an afternoon. Lots to do and see. The museums are nearby and you are only a short distance from Victory Field.
One iconic place to visit while in indy!!
Beautiful walk! We chose the perfect time of year for it. Definitely worth stopping and taking in the sites.
Beautiful park, nice walking trail.
So much improved venue. Fabulous place. You have upgraded wonderfully. Can't wait to come back. I live near Chicago and this was the third time here. Love it I will be back
One of the places you must visit if you come to Indianapolis. They have put their best efforts to make this place enjoyable.
We enjoyed the venue. We brought our own food which was a wise choice after seeing the concession prices.
Was able to get in and park no problem. Scenery was nice
Beautiful park, lots to do. Lots of activities to include in your day. Loads of sights to see within walking distance.
Very nice, quiet place for family to walk around and enjoy.
I love to lay on the lawn and enjoy the view of the city and river! I recommend coming here on a bright and sunny day!
Best place in Indy for concerts!
The park was wide open. Bike paths! Friendly people. A lot of art and sculptures.
Awesome venue! Saw Night Ranger and Sammy Hagar and it was AWESOME. Food vendors were great too!
The hiking trails are so nice. Beautiful scenery.
Great Venue. Very pleasing!!
Love this place. So much to do. And I love walking down the canal!
Great park! Harry Potter Festival was awesome....do it here nextbyear!!
This is an amazing park. Beautifully placed, lots to see and fo. Artwork everywhere and the canal and bridges are relaxing. $40 parking though?
A lot of changes in Indy Downtown very nice 👌 …
I love to come here and bring the kids , we all enjoy our stay, but parking lot is kind of expensive.
This has become my favorite music venue in town. The only downside is that the stage is directly west of the crowd, so you're staring into the sun as it sets... but that is only an issue for a little while.
Beautiful area designed for casual walks, art and social gathering. Wonderful place to be for a concert.
I prefer the BIG lawn in Indianapolis but we had a great time tonite at the LITTLE lawn. Skillet did a great job but we showed up for Sevendust. Everyone needs to SUPER LOVE Sevendust... ALWAYS GOOD! Always.
Outdoor concerts are great but drink prices are just ridiculous. You can get practically a "shot" of domestic beer for $4. Other full cups of beer are about $13 to $16 each.
Very clean and intimate setting, with an amazing view of the Indy skyline. The new seating layout is great! Even being a medium size venue you do not feel cramped. The light and sound setup competes with venues twice the size. Parking is the only downside, easy to find but hard to leave. I will definitely be back soon!
Beautiful canal walk. We rented a surrey to ride along the path but next time we will rent a paddle boat or get on the gondola! The only complaint I have is there are only two restrooms. One on each end and each is pretty far from the park. So if you have little ones make sure you take them there first before you go.
Why were the lights out on the canal at night? Plus, war memorial audio not working. Still beautiful, even with the scooters and dogs, which are both prohibited. Last year people complained about the teens there at night. This year it was adults riding scooters and leaving dog poo that marred are experience.
A very nice area to visit with family or friends. Feels clean safe, with some nice nooks and a few activities. I wish our city had places like this.
I always have lots of fun bringing my puppy out for walks here!! It’s very nice and clean and there’s a lot to see
Happy fathers day to my love...my life...my always &forever💕💋💍 I love u Erin …
I went to the IMAX theater when I visited. It was great. The theater isn't as big as I had thought it would be so I suggest sitting further back but it was wonderful. And the ticket was less expensive than the AMC for the same movie. Definitely will remember to see m9st movies here
Such a beautiful park and not a bad seat even if your on the lawn❤️
A good place to walk with picturesque views
Cool venue. Overpriced beer. They provide lawn chairs!
Excellent place to catch a show. Plenty of room for everyone. The venue was very nice itself. I would say this is the best place in Indy to catch a show.
Great place to get outside and walk, run, picnic whatever your fancy. Nice and clean very well maintained during my visit will go again if back in Indy.
Fantastic show. Jackson Browne was fantastic and I hope he comes back next year. Boy, his back up singers have some serious pipes.
The Juneteenth celebration was so nice! The park was the perfect place! I prays it grows larger every year!
Nice place to take pictures and enjoy the view . Especially at night ! I always feel safe because there’s always people around .
Great intimate venue one of the best in Indiana !
This is just a beautiful venue without a bad seat in the place!
Great venue. The alcohol is outrageously expensive so don't plan on many mixed drinks, but it was a great place to listen to music!
Excellent venue. Such a wonderful experience at the Sevendust/Skillet show. Definitely would love to come back.
Clean and loads of green =)
In the middle of the city lies a lovely and extraordinarily thoughtful park. It invited you to walk and observe and participate. I'll come here every time I visit Indianapolis.
Great little spot for strolling and possibly canoing or paddleboating. Makes for a lovely day!
It was a peaceful environment with beautiful scenery.
Saw Third Eye Blind and Silversun Pickups here! Great place for a concert! Outdoor, yet cozy!!!
Wonderful place. Went to Harry Potter Wizards Unite. Has bikes and paddle boats for rent. Lovely landscaping
It was a relaxing experience i highly recommend it
Great place for a race. 25 degrees and snowy.
Great place for tourists to explore the city!
It's a beautiful park with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the day. Being so close to the canal gives you the opportunity to see more of the city, without walking on the sidewalks. It's clean, and well kept!
One of the most beautiful place in Indianapolis downtown to walk around.
Nice park and canel
This was a first for my wife and I at White River State Park. We went to see Need To Breath in concert. Very nice venue. Clean restrooms and great location for a concert. I was surprised by how friendly the employees were. We had a great time and it was a great concert. Definitely will attend another one at this location.
My brother and I went to a concert at TCU Amphitheater. Great venue and it was rockin'! Would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a great time!!!
Was walkin around with my cousin and a homeless dude started touching me
Very nice river! Fun place to go with friends. Very relaxing. Good paths to walk on that aren't all cracked or covered in litter.
Beautiful park with many nearby attractions. Lots of open space for picnics and playing. You are in the middle of the canal, Victory Field, a concert venue and several great Museums. You could easily spend several days in this area checking everything out.
Bikes and paddle boats are available for rent, or grab a scooter for a canal tour. There are many outdoor sculptures and art to explore. If you are downtown, do yourself a favor and check this place out!
I went in a walk with my partner to watch the sunset and this little Indy gem did not disappoint.
So many views of downtown. A photographer's paradise! The park is clean and we'll maintained. Can walk from the zoo to the other end of the canal. Love the news restrooms! Friendly staff at the visitor center. Easy parking.
Great place to walk, ride bikes, rent scooters etc. Plenty of wildlife to see
Amazing 🤩 fun, safe & memorable. I loved watching & seeing Jackson Browne. - SunShine Smiles 🤓😁✌️ …
Beautiful place to walk in downtown when the weather is good.
Enjoyed the Three Doors Down with Seether with my brother and had a great time at the venue. Amazing place
Concert tonight with the kids, nice venue! Quality sound! WZPL Birthday Bash! Good times!
Best place to see a concert or do other activities with your family!
The weather was so nice out and this location is surrounded by everything.
So grateful for this park on the Western edge of downtown Indy. I count on it for a good middle hike, bike, or jog. I love bringing my kids to the green space to hit some balls, people watch, or take in a local festival or music. Plenty of parking and one you are there, there are a number of thing to take in: museums, sports, good, hotels to rest in, and all the war memorials ( Indy is 2nd to Washington, D.C. for our number of war memorials- not sure if I should be proud of that 🤷🏻♀️).
Great atmosphere, very clean, friendly help/security! Over all wonderful experiences! Will definitely return!
Good place to clear your mind. Parking $3 for 1HR.
This is a wonderful hidden gem in the city. We go to the city often, but never knew what all was at the park. It is very beautiful and peaceful there with the options to rent either bikes or paddle boats. We rented the bikes and had so much fun with them. Already making plans to go back as we didn't even get to enjoy half of it with the time we had.
I went to the canal. It's clean and pretty calm and water didn't smell weird this time. I went during the day. But activities are way over priced.
Love it! Plus the canal! Park on Mew York to get to the canal.
There are many things to do in there, like museums, rent bikes, beatiful views.
This is a beautiful walk along the waters edge. You can rent out paddle boats during the summer as well as bikes. Definitely go here and enjoy your time!
Strolled by the NCAA office and the Hall of Champions. Couldn't leave Indy without stopping by.
Very well done. Pleasent to be here. Beautiful.
White River State Park is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited! The landscape is gorgeous and the grounds are exceptionally well-kept. The canal is really clean and adds so much interest to the area. The towering buildings surrounding the park are majestic and pristine. The area was bustling with people enjoying everything the park has to offer. Walking around the park was a wonderful experience! Bravo, Indianapolis!!!!
So pretty and relaxing. Convenient bike rentals
The most breathtaking park you could ever see! Beautiful walking paths and green spaces
Love coming down to the white river state park. It’s so nice to walk or ride your bike and listen to the water and overlook the river from any vantage point.
The park is such a beautiful area. Too bad it was too cold to enjoy the outside this weekend. We spent our time hanging out in the museum while our son ran yhe 5k.
Great concert venue made even better.
GORGEOUS park! The views are spectacular and it's peaceful and serene.
Nice place to stroll. You can rent passes boats and multiperson peddled vehicles. Nice museums and vendors along the area.
Very peaceful. Great workout. Reflection time.
A very cool park and the best part of While River. You can google it to see if anything is going on there before you go! I used to love the jazz festival there every year
Absolutely beautiful. Clean, and well maintained.
Beautiful views of the river and downtown. Great place to bring the family and ride on the paths.
Enjoy this place with your family. It is so exciting and you can have fun in different ways
A very nice venue. Only complaint was the portal potties get pretty dark after the sun goes down. Pick one close to the light!
For a park downtown this one is pretty freaking cool and has many spots for photoshoots, relaxing or throwing around a frisbee
A great place to go for walking, events, or just open space. The zoo and the canal walk are both nearby so there is plenty to do. String together the canal walk and the white river trails around the park for a long loop.
Nice safe place to park and always make sure to pay online using park mobile app.
Beautiful park. Lots of fun.
Great Jason Mraz concert. Beautiful night!
Very romantic place to walk at night. Lights out.
Super spacious park, plenty of room to play games, walk around the massive park. There are usually some concessions for hot dogs and one for renting bikes or small battery powered carriages.
Had a great time walking during the afternoon. It was warm, but the place was nice and clean.
Needs better direction for merch, food and beverage stands. We saw SuicideBoy$ last night and unfortunately we had no idea where the merch tent was nor was given the opportunity to find it after we were rushed incredibly quickly out of the facility. Not entirely the staffs fault as this is the policy but i found it very rude that we were not allowed to re enter to purchase limited tour merch. We drove from soith bend to this show then back again the same night so not being able to purchase merch was heartbreaking. The show itself was great and the venue was awesome to see live performances. Very well built. Lawn was able to see the stage, but we were in the front of the lawn so im not sure how well the people behind us could see.
What a great, people friendly place to visit. The design, and art incorporated into the canal is beautiful. You can enjoy it all on paddle boats, bikes, scooters, bike carriages, or walking. Easy walk to museums, circle center mall, and downtown restaurants.
Great for walking. We saw cyclists and runners as well. Everything is within walking distance including the zoo, hotels, restaurants.
Logic put on great show, love this environment for a concert. Go see a show here.
Had a great time! They have free use oflawn chairs!
Jackson Browne was awesome @ TCU Amphitheater @ White River State Park.
Beautiful clean park with life and open space for picnics Frisbee or whatever outdoor activity you prefer. Paths are available for biking walking etc. And feeds right into the canal walk for a complete downtown scenic experience.
Its so beautiful place.
Great little area for a nice walk in the city
Norah Jones concert really enjoyed her and her band.plus a great crowd@
Well kept, great view for walks
Peaceful place to enjoy a sunset over the water!
The park and adjacent canal are regular walking spots for me. I love the scenic views and the overall quiet atmosphere. Definitely a spot you should add to your list.
Beautiful, clean, accessible, peaceful, the canal district is here.
High concentration of activities in a relatively small area. Cultural offerings aplenty as well as outdoor recreation. A must-experience part of Indy
I was there 3 consecutive nights for shows at the new TCU Amphitheater and it was amazing. I loved the "old lawn" but the new venue is top notch! Must see!!!
The canal is a beautiful place to walk. Very well maintained and clean. Remarkably so, considering the fact that there are geese and ducks on the trail. The community garden is also adorable. I love the sign that talks about how composting is beneficial for the plants and the process behind it.
We play pokemon go here. It's pretty enjoyable.
It's cozy and comfy and the staff was awesome they do alot for such a small town and thus place is All That..pun intended lol enjoy this place it's fun.
Always a pleasant walk, great for picnics. When the mini festivals come its a really good time even just sitting and looking at the water. All in one natural activity
This city is camful, neat& clean, beautiful city. Canel Walk, white river park, art garden, university park surrounding area and state office area attract the people.
What a great place for outdoor concerts. I have seen a few bands here and had a great experience everytime.
Great place to walk, run or ride bikes
This is an amazing state park to walk. The canal is really peaceful. I did notice tho that they only salted one side of the canal and not the other tho.
My fiance and I hadadult time without any kids and got to actually have a relaxing afternoon on the water
Nice architecture. Beautiful Fountains. Pleasant brick walkways to the Canal, amphitheater and park.
So much to offer! I finally made it down to the park on a beautiful, sunny day this spring and I'm so glad I did. There is a ton of green space with nice walking paths that border the river, canal, and through the park. There are lovely spots to sit for a picnic lunch, before or after your visit to the zoo, Victory Field
Did a taco Tuesday ride there staff was great had a wonderful time
Nice place to hang if you are @downtown Indy.
Great place to relax and have fun all at the sametime! Kid friendly and group friendly
Called a head of time said first come on chairs well then got there said no chairs when Clair's.
Fun area in the city. Great museum and biggest movie screen in the state. (Also if you go for a movie you can get your parking validated for 6hrs)
The concert venue was pretty good but a little small
Beautiful scenery. Enjoyed the canal work.
This area is beautiful! Great spot to run, walk, have a picnic. My fiancé and I actually had our engagement photos done here and along the canal in the spring time - they were gorgeous! So many events happening around here so you’ll always have a great time.
One of my favorite places to go running with my son! Great views of the city, lots of personal space, conveniently located near many downtown attractions
It's a jewel. Tons of world class museums and great little restaurants along the canal. Make a day of it! One caveat: if you're going out late in the evening it's safer to go in a group.
Took a 4 person surrey ride along the canal. Great leisure ride. Be prepared to go slow and yield to pedestrian traffic. The canal is a nice hidden gem for out of towners.
Had a great time. Very good venue!
I haven't been here in several years but enjoyed the time I spent here. The park is beautiful and the canal walk was unexpectedly quiet and peaceful, especially for being in downtown Indianapolis. Its conveniently close to the zoo also. Parking can be an issue so give extra time to find a spot or pay to park which can be a bit pricey.
Saw Snoop Dogg! Had a great time. Concessions weren't super expensive.
Just the beauty is amazing.. we have a pretty city
It's so beautiful and clean, and great for workout
Better than Deer Creek (yeah, I'm old). It's very nice, both lawn & reserved seats. Nice food trucks & vendors inside. Restroom facilities very large & clean. Convenient access to a couple of nearby restaurants.
This is a nice little park.
We took an hour stroll at White River State Park using one of the bike rentals located near Central Canal, and the scenery is so beautiful!!
It was such an amazing experience. I have been there many times, but last weekend was better than the rest.
Super clean. Plenty of room for concert goers.
We were there for an event. I love the rentals if scooters boats and bikes.
Great music venue in downtown Indy. Great staff and vending.
Good place for morning or evening walk
A nice place to see a show in the center of the city. Make sure you get in line really early if you do not have assigned seats as the entrance line stacks up long and fast. They were pretty quick with the security check though. I did have good seats and the folks in front and beside me didn't show, so actually got to use the seat during the show.
Very nice, relaxing park. Lots of open, grassy space. Several neat sculptures are scattered around the area. The river and canal are a nice scenic addition.
Quite a large Park with lots of attractions. Parking can be expensive.
Beautiful park in the middle of the city for events, picnics, or taking a nice wall along the canal
Great place to walk around downtown. A lot to see
Canal walk was worth every step
Really love this place. Beautiful venue
We love the White River State Park! It is such a great place for our dog and to us to hang with with our friends. There is also much to do on the canal and in the surrounding areas.
Awesome venue
My new favorite
Wonderful oasis in the city. It can be very peaceful. It feels safe during daylight and early evenings. Nice breezes and people there for fun. Easy access from east end of zoo parking lot. Romantic. The acoustics under the bridges are great.
Great place to see a concert. Not a bad seat, good food and drink selection
Great venue and seating. Easy to walk to from downtown. Acoustically decent.
Beautiful place, nice atmosphere, clean bathrooms, the large TVs make it easy to see even from the lawn. The only downfall is the super over priced food and beverages but that's to be expected.
Awesome venue for a concert! Their handicapped seating is centered and sat a bit higher than the crowd so anyone with a disability can see and hear perfectly, which is rare and commendable. Also they provided lawn chairs for people sitting on the lawn.
I love this park. Bring a hammock and enjoy a lazy afternoon/evening. Fun walking & biking trails. The canal is also beautiful. There's even some natural wildlife right here in the city. Saw a family of raccoons one night, so cute! Sometimes there are fun pop-up events.
Good place to fish 🐠 lots of fishing spots …
Nice venue. Best feature is the great staff who manage the traffic flow of people. Multiple food and drink options, good sound, and a great view of the skyline behind you. Spend the money to get in the pit. You deserve it!
My wife and I took our one -year-old here on a weeknight. We rented a tandem bike and rode along the canal. The views were very pretty. There were a lot of people jogging, biking, etc. and the park is very well-maintained. The area feels very safe, and it's an enjoyable place to explore.
The park at the old Washington Street bridge is very nice. Walking south of the Old Washington Street bridge to the new Washington Street bridge there are many homeless people and lots of trash if that was cleaned up it would be a lot nicer.
it was nice to walk around but nothing special
Best urban state park in the state. Take the red brick trail (Indianapolis Cultural Trail) from the park to all of the Indianapolis cultural districts. Let’s not made for walking 8 miles? Rent a scooter. Or rent a bike. These are all easily accessible from the park. Access to the canal is available from Thai park as well. Indianapolis zoo is just over the white river.
We had a blast downtown July 4th.
Very nice walk with my wife
Absolutely gorgeous venue! The bathrooms are bright, clean and there are plenty of stalls! Important when you are at a concert so that you aren't missing too much of the show by waiting in line!
Urban surroundings and nature blend perfectly here in a respite from the busyness of the metropolitan areas. The area has an excellent respect for the history of Indianapolis while bring it into the future with thoughtful exhibits and signs.
Super fun, was looking forward to renting a 2 person bike but the stand was closed on week days
Very good place for a calm and quiet outing. The park is near to downtown Indy. It has got good parking space, though not free. You can rent bicycles and tricycles for a quick ride. Also there is an option for peddle boating through very beautiful artificial lake like.
What a great surprise in downtown Indianapolis. Plenty of restaurants, ride a bike, take a walk, etc. Very close to many museums. Definitely a great day full of things to do.
Great place to visit! You must to take the bycicle trip to complete the experience.
Beautifully renovated! The Amphitheater blocks the setting sun, which cools it faster. Drinks and concessions -WHEW- take out a loan beforehand. ~wink
Nice and safe. Very clean. They offer electric bikes and big paddle boats. Places to sit and they have concessions. Not to far from the zoo.
I'm not too familiar with Indy but I love this park. My husband took me there for our anniversary and it was beautiful. We rented bikes and rode around looking at beautiful scenery. We also rented a paddle boat which was so romantic. 5 stars hands down.
I love the venue. I dislike the policies. You can bring a blanket, but not camp chairs. (You can bring low to the ground beach chairs. They will provide a beach chair for free, but if you're fat prepare to be humiliated.) Also, no bug spray or aerosol sunscreen. 🙄 …
It's mostly a nice place to walk and bike during the day but it suffers from some poor management.
They don't maintain the lighting and landscaping in the sidewalks especially by the White River West Drive, so it is not as joyful as it supposed to be for walking after sunset.
Littering is another unresolved issue and the trash bins are not placed appropriately.
The bridge construction has a lot of cracks and the concrete edges are falling apart.
The canal is also smelling like sewer or some chemicals especially by the White River drainage waterfall.
Beautiful place to walk, and hang out with friends. They have places where you can rent bikes, paddle boats, strollers, and segways. They have a war memorial for our soldiers. That is beautifully lit up at night. They do free events occasionally. A nice variety of restaurants to visit on your walk.
Four of us went to Wheels of Soul concert, two are handicapped. The staff immediately got my one friend a wheelchair and placed us in the ADA section. Every attedenant working that show were so courteous, kind and attentive! They made it so easy for us to enter and depart and enjoy the concert. They are truly angels!
Great park to visit, lots of space for trolleys , scoters, bikes, and grass to just lay and enjoy the sun.. the path along the river and beside the zoo are great as allow you to see the city .
We love renting the bikes on the canal
Great walking area around the Canal, especially enjoyed the area where the canal flows into the White River. Could have used some ice cream by the end of the walk though 🍦 …
The layout is wonderful. The park itself is easy to navigate. If you see a concert here, I recommend getting lawn seats. They are very affordable and the venue provides chairs.
Love visiting here. So much to see and do. Great launching point for walking the downtown canal. See concerts here too. Walk over to the the zoo and gardens. Hang out by the White River. Step across to Victory Field, the home of the Indianapolis Indians.
Great place to walk around and check out the city, make sure to check out the culture trail too! Was able to rent Bird and Lime scooters they were everywhere
Seether and 3 Doors down were great. However they advertised cashless and tobuse google pay but no one knew how to use the google pay at amy concession hosted by live nation, so that was not fun ☹
Beautiful! The canal walk is pretty and I feel safe in the area. We love to either start or end our Zoo days with a walk around the park. I also appreciate the cleanliness and art around the walkway.
White River State Park is always a good place to walk, read a book or take the family on a warm afternoon.
Great place to take a large group of students to roam free and have a little fun. There are cycles of all shapes and sorts and there are also paddle boats to rent and ride on the canal. Just realize though that if you want to feed a group at this park that it has to be approved in advance and may require a fee.
Neat lil music venue; my first trip was for Wierd Al and the place was pretty packed. They have a few food and drink trucks around, im sure it varies based on the event. The viewing area is a nice hill and there are lawn chairs for free (tho limited in supply). Overall i liked it and will probably return.
Beautiful way to experience downtown Indy. Great for walking or concerts.
Convenient location. beautiful park.
My husband and I always enjoy our time spent here and just enjoy walking around the area, plus that exciting day that we stumbled upon the zoo entrance at the end of the pathway that we took, when we were relatively new to the area! Nice to walk around even in the colder weather.
Loved the concert! However, they opened the gates late so we stood in line way too long. By the time we got to sit down it was almost time for the opening act to start. Something anyone should know would be that you need to keep the water filled in the hand washing stations outside the port o potties. They were empty before the opening act was finished!
It is a nice place to walk.
This is a great venue... I really enjoyed the food trucks
Very nice area,I like the pottery in the gift shop, the only place I know to buy it.
Its a pretty park, with lots of places to hang up hammocks or relax in the shade. There is a nice open field to bring some kind of sport or activity to play. The art there is interesting, and really enhances the general appeal of the place.
Wow....great place.walk a lot.greenery all around.have a bicycle.can spend hours just relaxing and watching the beautiful sunset scene.enjoy
Beautiful 😍 right by the museum. …
Great concert venue!! Beautiful park! They even give you free chairs to use if you have lawn seats. It is very convenient to get in and out and it is a wonderful location downtown Indianapolis! It's on a slight slant/ hill, so it's easy to see the stage even if you are towards the back!
This place was a lot of fun! My husband and I rode the Duce Coupe with Wheel Fun, located at the park. Great service and had a great time!
What a great venue. Beautiful, clean, and a great show too
Great place for family fun.
This place is great for people of all ages. It's quite a spectacle on warm weekends with the canal pulsing with kayakers and paddle boaters. It's great for runners and walkers as well, with ample shade.
I've only been there for concerts, and it's a great venue for that. Bring a small chair or blanket (or rent a chair) and some snacks and catch a good show. The acoustics are really good for such an open space.
I love fishing here. Lots of Small mouth, catfish, and blue gill. Also a great place to exercise utilizing the trail for biking, jogging, or casual walking. Excellent place to kill some time
Much better than expected! Wonderful idea.
Wonderful venue for a concert (if the weather cooperates)
Bicycle rental is a giggle with different types of machines. Definitely a workout!
I've lived in Indy 29 years and have never walked the whole canal. Well today me and my 4 kids did! We had so much fun looking at all the art, architecture, and monuments. The new blue playground was a complete surprise and they LOVED it. Next time we'll have to rent a boat or a bike and go to the Historical Society. We've done the other museums around there at various times. 4 stars because: We parked in the WRSP garage and it was expensive! I made sure we got done in 3 hours so we didn't have to pay $15.
Lot of open space. Canal is neat and a long hike if you walk it all. Many joggers along canal. Parking $7. Went in the evening, buildings were closed. No apparent open restrooms.
The boardwalk was wide and smooth and gave us a chance to really get a good vantage point on the city skyline. Clean streets, friendly people, all make for a wonderful experience at the park.
Just left the Need To Breath concert!! Love this band!!! This is an awesome venue! Always beautiful, well run and a great place to see a summer concert. They give you little chairs to sit in if you want one. The food and drink is a little over priced but I kind of expect that at a concert! Good job White River State Park and thanks for a wonderful concert Need To Breath!!!!
We experienced the Temptations and the Beach Boys at White River State Park!!!
What a beautiful night!~
Thank You to all the staff and management !!! Everything went so well.
Parking was a non-issue. Got bike rides to the seating area. Got looked over without being insulted.
What a great outing!!! Not one mosquito bite!!! And the fire flies were out in number..... I guess they like 60's rock and roll too!!!!!!!
Beautiful park that's really come along in the last decade. It used to be a bit sketchy place where they'd dump us during school field trips to eat our lunches. Now it's beautiful and revitalized, and an asset to the city.
Went to see Sevendust and Skillet. It was awesome! Only downfall is it rained that morning so the ground closer to the stage was like stepping on a soaked sponge. Lots of fearless dragonflies as well but that wasn't an issue for me.
Excellent park with concerts, cycles and the most gorgeous canal
Our 1st concert here at White River. The Circle & Night Ranger was great!!
One of my favorite places to go on a walk in Indianapolis. The park is quite massive with several paved walking trails throughout. There are bikes available to rent and it's close to monument circle. If you're in downtown Indy and have some time to kill I suggest you take a walk or just sit and relax in the park.
Beautiful park. Reception people are very helpful. Segway, bike and boat rentals are great.Just watch yourself with the grounds staff. They drive the carts super fast. And they rude too.
This place is tough to review, because the venue is great, but the companies they allow to run the shows there are not. I had tickets for a concert on a Sunday night, and the company running the show decided to delay it for almost 2.5 hours because of an incoming storm. It didn't rain at all for 2 hours, plenty of time to have 70% of the show done. Instead, the company opened up the doors nearly 3 hours later to play an abbreviated show during a thunderstorm, likely so that they wouldn't have to give refunds or reschedule. I recommend the venue, but concert goers beware.
A fantastic park to visit. It's kept in a well cleaned state and has lots of space to relax and enjoy the views of the park
It's beautiful and fun at at any time of year. I love going. It's very accessible to everyone but it can be hard to find parking when there are multiple events going on downtown.
Very beautiful park right in downtown of Indianapolis. So many things to do And runs right along with the canal great place for exercise taking a walk with the friend or even a Romantic boat ride down the canal the zoo is also right there and so many things to walk to go across the street and catch a baseball game
Enjoying family visit 😉 …
Nice open area for multitude of activities. Walking, biking, field games.. whatever you can think of.
Awesome venue for a concert!
Wonderful park. Loved the waterway. We walked a 5/k as a family for an event and had a great time. Didn’t get to see all of it because of the rain but will definitely go back.
THE SHOW
We saw moe., Blues Traveler, and G Love & Special Sauce at the amphitheater tonight. Great show. Loud music.
WATCHING THE SHOW
Folding chairs are provided, and are free to use during the show on the lawn. I did ask one of the ladies if you could bring your own chairs. She said "yes," but they must be chairs that are low to the ground. I'd recommend just using the chairs they have available there. They're pretty comfortable. Even my husband, at around 220 lbs., fit well and was comfortable.
CONCESSIONS
There are concessions and a couple food trucks in the venue. They do sell beer, wine, and cocktails, all in different tents. The food and drinks are expensive, just like other venues. I've included two pictures of two different menus with their prices. This way you can see what you might spend. I'd recommend having a few pre show cocktails, and eating dinner before arriving. One of the ladies at the entrance said we could bring in our own bottled water, but the cap must be unopened and sealed.
SECURITY
Upon entering, your bags are searched, and you need to empty your pockets and walk through a metal detector. A hand wand metal detector is used if need be. Hats must be removed and inspected. There was no pat down, which I like. I'm not comfortable with others touching me, especially men who are not my husband. They do a good job at making you feel safe though.
TICKET PRICES
Ticket prices do go up if you wait till the day of the show to buy them. For this show, they went from $20 to $40 when you bought them at the box office.
PARKING
We parked in the parking garage. We got there shortly after the venue opened, and there were plenty of parking spots still available close to the elevator. However, parking spots did fill up quick as it got closer to the show time. Lyft and Uber drivers are able to make their drop offs right at the front of the venue by the box office. You can also ride a scooter up to the front of the venue as well.

DISABILITIES
This venue is wheelchair accessible. I did see about 4 or 5 wheelchairs sitting by an entrance. If you need one, I believe you can use one. But I don't know this for certain.
WEATHER
This is a rain or shine venue. So have lots of fun, and prepare for whatever weather you may experience.
EXPERIENCE TO REMEMBER
The staff is very helpful, and the lines tend to move quickly. Everyone is very nice, and they just want you to have a great time. So let down your hair, kick off those heels, and dance the night away. You're going to have a blast.
Very beautiful place to visit.
Perfect place for a sunny day!!
Less crowded than the canal.
Nice area convenient walking past to lots of downtown locations. Not much parking however there was a parking garage in front of the IMAX theater but the price was outrageous. Not sure that I would choose to go to the area again due to the lack of affordable parking.
The White River Park is a place of calm it wines along the river towards downtown area with very scenic view of of downtown in between a cooling Rockwall you come out on the old Washington Street Bridge
Sammy Hagar and The Circle really rocked Indianapolis!
David Byrne's "American Utopia" concert at White River State Park was outstanding. I wasn't familiar with the location as it was the first time I'd attended a performance at this venue, however, the staff was super helpful. They offered directions and help with finding parking, which was very affordable and conveniently located within walking distance to the stage.
Very fun and beautiful place. Canal and skyline! Rich history. Many things to rent, paddle boats, bikes, scooters, etc. We did the segway tour it was fantastic
While the actual venue is amazing and well laid out the over priced everything is definitely going to be a deciding factor if we ever return.
Fun outdoor concert and event venue in the center of Indy!
Great maintained circuit along the river
Great venue. Clean. Walk from the hotel.
Great little walking area. Very nice homes and architecture around. Our family enjoy the shoes three hours we had there. Will go back again. Very very clean
Very nice walk. The canal was great and it was a beautiful day. The added water features are great. We didn't spend a lot of time walking here but what we seen we enjoyed.
This is a great place to spend a summer afternoon! Park near the Indians arena and walk along the river; visit the State Museum and relax on a bench in Military Park (or cross the walking bridge and visit the Indianapolis Zoo!); then grab a bite to eat at one of the fantastic downtown Indianapolis restaurants! All of this is within walking distance from White River State Park. The grounds of the park are well-kept and there are plenty of places to sit and relax. Great place to bring the family!
This park is so nice to walk around and explore. There were local farm stands and a lot of recreational activity going on.
One of downtown Indy's best attractions. Walk the canal, cross the pedestrian bridge to the zoo, visit the museums, or go see a baseball game. Takes a little walking to get to the circle but still probably one of the best places to start and end your day if you are making a trip downtown.
Only negative is that the parking garage isn't always a smooth process. They have a self help kiosk at the state museum, but on several occassions it has screwed up and made exiting a headache. Things go much smoother when there is an attendant and/or when there is event parking.
It is nice park, river side, surrounded by university and zoo, and offices. Near by central canal walk. It has nice view around here, nice for walk , jogging cycling , water paddle boats are available at center canal.
This place is beautiful nice and clean place
Went to a concert there. It was easy to get to. Ample parking. The sound was great! They need to look into improving the quality of the food vendors.
A great downtown park! Perfect for a relaxing afternoon and has a great atmosphere.
