Reviews of Turkey Run State Park
Cody Smith
It was the first time visiting for my four year old daughter and I and I'll tell you what she was in awe as much as I.
We didn't cover the whole property but in six hours we seen so much beautiful landscape and exotic sandstone carving.
They have a public swimming pool also so after all the hiking and splashing around its a perfect place to end the day.
We drove 3 hours total there and back and I would do it again in a heart beat.

The best park in Indiana, my eyes for this beautiful gem of a forest in Marshall. I love the trails, the geysers, the rugged landscape and the tough and not so tough hikes. I have enjoyed the scenic beauty of each of natures creation and so enjoy hiking endlessly for hours mesmerized by Turkey run’s beauty. Ample parking, kids area, camping spots, an inn for campers and sufficient provisions for campers as well as hikers. There’s a $7 fee at the entrance and allows access to the entire park. You are given a good map and pamphlet which includes all details to the park. Lovely tourist spot!

This was our second visit to Turkey Run. We hiked trail 3 which is one of the more rugged trails. We had to go through streams, small gorges, and up and down tall ladders. A thunderstorm passed through in the middle of our hike but the rain was refreshing. Lots of mud when it's been raining so prepare for that! The temperature was around 95 degrees that day but it is so much cooler through the trails. Such a beautiful place!!

I've had this parked saved for a long time and have never been in the area to be able to stop by. But I finally got a chance and I was by myself, and it was already pretty late. So I only got to do one trail (trail 3), and it was absolutely beautiful! I want to come back and explore more of this park again because I know there is just so much more to see. It's just a gorgeous place to hike and everyone was pretty friendly.

We have been to many state parks in and around Indiana and Turkey Run is now my family’s favorite! It has the best of what we always look for when camping (playground, hiking, and kayaking; river preferred). My 3 year old loved the pool and it was nice to go relax for an hour after a few days off pretty rugged hiking and hours of kayaking. The staff was diligent and constantly changing stations (maybe to keep them on their toes?). Regardless, they were on top of things. The one thing I didn’t like was the campground and state park were separated and we had to get on the highway from the campground and drive to the park.

The entrance fee is 7$ per car (not per person) for Indiana and 9$ for non-Indiana residents.
The park has a particular area if you want to camp with your family, a pretty safe place.
This park has fantastic long trails with a spectacular views and nature. I highly recommend exploring trails 3, 5, and 9. The Falls Canyon is super adrenalin for adventurers with fascinating rocky surroundings. Suspension Bridge has a great view as well. (:
Alongside hiking and camping, swimming in the river, fishing, and kayaking are also options to enjoy your time there. You can have a picnic too.
Most of my time, I just wanted to sit and observe nature around me.

This is a great place to hike. Followed a recommended trail route in reverse from online (trail 3 to 5 to 9 to 5 to 3) their most strenuous one. Suspended bridge, wooden ladders into canyons, walking through somewhat dry rocky/sandy river canyons, down 140 steps. Very pretty woods all along Sugar Creek. BUT the trails are not marked very well & you kind of get lost. Everyone we met up with was lost/unsure too of where they were. They need more signs. Trail 3 is a lot of climbing. There are many more trails & you do not have to walk trail 3. They have campgrounds and kayaks for rent. No swimming. Kids would love this place for vacation though. Download their trail map before deciding.

Such a great getaway. We came on a day after rain and there was lots of water build-up which made it fun. Bring water shoes if you go on the rugged trails. Such a beautiful display of God's creation. 😊

We only took trail 3 but we will definitely be back to hike the other spots. This place is absolutely beautiful and despite going in the summer, it wasn't as busy on the trails as we thought they would be.
However, the only thing I personally didn't care for were the camp grounds. The camping was not to my preference. I prefer sites that are more private and less open, but the sites here are practically on top of one another, which I do know a lot of people like. However, I was not one of them.

Most amazing point about this park is its canyons. There are several canyons in this park which are really beatiful. If you are planning to visit, plan to take a root that gives you the highest number of canyons. I can say that Rockey Hollow is the most beautiful canyon, so put it in your to-do list
The ladders is another amazing part and try to stop by and climb/descend them. There are three ladders in the trail 3. Climbing them is easier but ascending is more challenging. It is up to you to choose whichever. The suspension bridge is a very unique experience. It is in the entrance and you have to take it anyway!!!

Turkey run has so many beautiful, unique trails, along with historical attractions (like the coal mine). We came in autumn, so the fall colors were absolutely beautiful! The gulches can be a bit messy to hike in, so I would recommend wearing shoes that you don’t mind getting muddy! If you’re not up for hills and rocky terrain, this wouldn’t be the park for you. But if you enjoy fairly challenging and very beautiful paths, this park just about has it all! We did come on a holiday, and I would mention that the park was quite busy. If you’re not a fan of crowds, I would recommend aiming to come in the morning or on a weekday that isn’t a holiday.

We went for a day tour and totally enjoyed it. The park is easily accessible and offers a lot of fun and activities. A lot of hiking trails and all offers lovely views. They have different levels of hiking trails, from easy to rough. The canyon trails take you inside the canyons and they are beautiful. Inside of the canyons are cool and offers great views. All the trails are properly marked and the map also well marked. Overall, for $7, it was a great dayout for us and would recommend it to all.
Jeff Lawson
The best place to hike in Indiana. Plus the Turkey Run Inn is an affordable, relaxing place to stay with wonderful food and a very friendly staff. The fried biscuits and apple butter are a Hoosier treat. The hiking trails through the Rocky Hollow - Falls Canyon Nature Preserve transport you 12,000 years back in time. Worth the trip, and plan to spend a couple of days.
Brian Wagner
Park was beautiful and had great amenities. We went for hiking only and did not camp here. The nature center is clean and well organized. We did the 5-mile hiking challenge and let me tell you, it is a workout! Kudos to Naturalist Aaron Douglass who was extremely personable and went the extra mile for us. We returned from our hiking at 5:30, only to learn that the Nature Center closed at 5pm. We were disappointed that we wouldn't be able to pick up our "5 miler" stickers as we were leaving that day, but Aaron took the time to verify our photos and get us our stickers despite being "off the clock". We will definitely be returning!
Richard Nussle
We did trial 4 which goes to the punch bowl and the hollow. Was a really cool hike and not something we had experience since moving to IN.
Lots of hiking through the woods and streams but when we got to the end you walk through a bunch of moving water with amazing scenery. Plan to get wet and have a change of clothes. The kids loved it.
Would definitely come back.

Second time coming and this time I brought my girlfriend. What an amazing trail and time we had and workout for about 2.5hrs there. I would recommend this state park to anyone to enjoy with family, friends or by yourself. Also $7 to get in if you’re a Indiana native. Can’t beat that! We will be back early spring time.
Dan Fossoy
We went horseback riding at Turkey Run State Park. The horses were calm. We had Grant for a guide. He did a wonderful job. The scenery was fantastic with the leaves turning colors. We also hiked down to and across the suspension bridge within the State Park.
The Dragonlord
My parents haven't been here since 1986 and felt it was time to go back. Very nice park. Gets real dark at night, so make sure to bring a form of light with you. Rockville is about 15 to 20 minutes from the park if you decide to hit the town or need supplies. Wildlife can be seen and heard in the campgrounds, so bring you food in after you are done or a raccoon will eat it.
Josh Zacher
This is one, if not, THE best park in Indiana. Beautiful trails that look like you're somewhere else, horse back riding, a beautiful inn, a pool, and a river for tubing or canoeing. Pool is an extra $3 per person. I highly recommend trail 3, semi-easy trail, can be wet if there has been rain. The only thing I don't understand is why everyone brings their dogs on the trails, can your dog go up a ladder?
Sarah B!
great place! very neat experience and we all loved it. trail 3 is definitely the most interesting and fun. but, always be sure to take water on the trails! we learned the hard way. my only issue was the map was a bit confusing..but we still had a lot of fun
J. Monday (Chili)
Turkey run state park is just breath taking! We arrived late on a Friday evening with our camper. Woke up Saturday morning to an absolute beautiful day. Hit the trails (trail 3 was one of our favorites) all day and came back to the campground at the state park and had a great cookout. The campground is clean (if you're pulling a camper be aware some lots are not the most level). All in all this trip gets 👍👍
Melissa Versino
This place is amazing! We went on a chilly Friday afternoon in March. It was absolutely beautiful. Plan on wearing good hiking boots or Tevas and expect your feet to possibly get wet. We tried to climb the waterfall but couldn't make our full way around because we ran out of ledge space and would have had to wade in the cold water. This was on trail #3. We were able to circle back around the other way. The icebox is really cool and as you're heading down the trail stairs it's easy to miss if you don't look down around to the left. You'll have to get off the stairs to take a path to get down there. The ladders are super cool too. On most paths you'll need to cross streams so be prepared for that. Not sure how deep the water is in the later spring or summer but it was over our feet and up past our ankles in spots. We only got through a part of the trails and we'll be back to explore more. I'm sure this will be gorgeous in the summer and fall. The river views were really great too, lots of signs to not wade or swim so heads up.
Peanut Head
Really beautiful area. Pretty easy trails for the most part. Some areas could use better markings because some spots can be confused as a path when really it leads you from the trail. It's not the most exhilarating or jaw dropping park but it beats corn fields and its something for Indiana folks to see. It's possible to do all the trails in one day if you show up early in the morning.

For Christmas my family got me a guided ice hike at Turkey Run State Park in Marshall, Indiana. They have ice hikes every weekend in January and February. The hikes are free and they let you use their boot ice spikes. You have to sign up online for the free guided ice hikes. Turkey Run State Park is gorgeous and the trails are so much fun. Our guided hike was on trail 6 and 7. Trail 6 and 7 are moderate hikes. It took us about an hour as a group for both of those trails.

Do you feel the call of the wild to go out and blaze new trails, but also enjoy having a real bed and restrooms? Well, then Turkey Run may be the place for you.
While there are trails you are supposed to stay on, they can at times be so overgrown that it feels like you are an explorer making a brand new path 😂
In the first picture, only one of those paths is actually the trail. Good Luck!
Reginald Smith
Turkey Run State Park is a beautiful place. Visitors need to take care of their trash better. Our campsite was flat next to a ravine. Trails are nice but with many hikers. There is some trail maintenance needed. Steps are in poor condition.
Marie Gail Stratford
Wonderful Indiana State Park. Well kept up with many hiking trails, mostly rugged or moderate so not for beginners. The area is beautiful and well preserved. Hikers willing to tackle rough terrain will be treated to some spectacular views.
Cori Camp
Coolest state park in Indiana! The trails tend to be difficult, but worth the sights! The ladders are super neat, and the canyons are beautiful! Definitely recommend taking the whole day to explore!
Melanie H
Loved it as a young couple, still love it as a family of 4 with young kids! There are trails close to the lodge that have fun things for kids to see (cabins, river, playground) and were easy enough for me to do with a 20 lb kid on my back. We also hiked across the suspension bridge, down to wedge rock and around rocky hollow and turned around since the loop would have been too long for our 2 year old and 9 month old. The views were beautiful even for a short hike. My 2 year old was happy to do the saddle barn pony ride (cash only but worth it) and the pool was warm and a fun break on a chilly day.

Day one of my southern loop trekking adventure landed me at Turkey Run State Park in Indiana. Who knew there would be such stunning terrain in Indiana.
Most of the hike was in river beds traversing slot canyons and I had to wonder if flash flooding was ever an issue here because there were very limited egress points. Luckily it drizzled all day and no torrential downpours to peak my fears.
Adventures with Buddy & Aunt B
Excellent hiking trails. It was pouring down rain and a lite slippery but my very agile dog managed many of the trails adequately! Pack out what you pack in, garbage cans are nowhere to be found in the park so pack accordingly for your hike.
Joel Brown
Fall is arguably the best season to visit this park!
We hiked on trails 3 and 10, but in hindsight we should have pushed on to trail 5 too.
We were somewhat surprised to see so many small children on trails where it was expressly discouraged by park signage.
Amanda Monahan
This is my favorite state park to visit. All of the hikes are amazing.
Trail 3 is one of the most unique trails that I've ever been on.
Suzanne Grant
Nice place to hike some trails don't have markers when they cross another trail so we weren't sure which way to go. Very beautiful in October with leaves starting to change.
Chad Warner
We went on our first ice hike in Turkey Run State Park. You can either go on a guided hike or rent spikes. The spikes are great at keeping you from slipping. The weather was great for us and there was plenty of ice.
Dan Scheid
We had such a good time here! Came for the covered bridge festival and did a hike here on like the 4 and 3 trail. The covered bridge was definitely a highlight, but the canyon hike was also Super cool and worth the trip. Really wanna come back and stay in the lodge for a long weekend!
Alyssa Barnes
My husband and I enjoy turkey run. This park is well ran. The bathrooms are clean. The trails are peaceful and beautiful. They are marked very well!!!! I see so much potential for many fun times including family times at this park. Many trails and we also see they have tubing and such. Many people were enjoying that today.
Benjamin High
An expansive state park sure to prove a worthwhile trip for any family, group of friends, or solo hiker. On site facilities also provide ample space for large groups. Speaking of facilities, they all seem to be well maintained and cared for. All in all a great experience.
Natalia Prendergast
Canoeing was nice but river was packed with people on tubes, canoes and cayacks. But we still had alot of fun and have no regrets! River was a bit shallow.
We got tour from Turkey Run Canoeing and Cayacking campground. Bus driver was super funny and sweet lady 🥰 …

If you are a permanent resident of Indiana, or just passing through, Turkey run has to be on your list of places to see, and here’s why:
Pros:
- incredibly unique ecosystem where wildlife species can thrive unlike anywhere else in the world
- naturally eroded waterbeds carved into the sandstone bedrock make beautiful trekking routes
- incredibly diverse terrain for the avid hiker
Cons:
- the interesting stops on this hike are incredibly hard to traverse for inexperienced hikers (old ladders, slick rocks, and unmarked routes)
- not as much marking as is needed to prevent getting caught in loops.
- the best features seem to be either overrun with people or hidden like a local secret instead of marked clearly on the trail head signs.
My advice: go to shades state park (10 mins down the road) and explore there. It’s far less crowded and incredible in its own unique way. But if you have a weekend to spare, definitely go for Turkey run. They have a wonderful inn to stay at and fantastic world class routes that can keep you busy for days. It’s famous for a reason. But if you’re here for a quick trip, go for Shades SP.
Ian Kinderis
Came down from Chicago for a Memorial Day weekend hike, and it was well worth the trip. A bit busy, but quite the site to behold. Highly recommend Trail 3!
Matthew Gilbert
I gotta tell you I would never have thought something this beautiful would be in Indiana... this place is magical. Get off your rump and take a hike. It's beyond worth it. I'm ready to go back and hike it all.
I am Steve
Over the years, my wife and I have stayed at the Inn, in the cabins, and , most recently, the campground. All have been wonderful experiences.
If we didn't live 4 hours away, we would visit much more often.
Robert Branch
Really enjoy this place. It is a great place to hike and has trails ranging from easy to pretty challenging. Great place for a day with the family.
Carolina Lopez
First time going here and it was so much fun. Highly recommend going earlier to avoid a big crowd but overall it’s a great place to go and either take a trail or have some fun in the water.
Jim Lahr
This is my second most favorite State Park in the state of Indiana. Shades is the first just because it has less traffic. Lots of amenities at Turkey run, they have a pool, stables, cabins for rent and an inn if you choose to stay overnight. If you're interested in renting a cabin or staying at the inn, you need to make reservations far in advance of the peak season. There is a suspension bridge over Sugar Creek that is a point of interest along with the covered bridge at the edge of the park boundary. It is a family-friendly Park with lots of trails mostly moderate to rugged in terrain features. They have shelters available to rent for family get togethers and picnics. Near each shelter is usually a playground for the kids. It cost $7 to get in per car load if you are a state resident. I would highly recommend this park, with the variety of trails and Sugar Creek there are lots of features to enjoy during a day trip.
Neha Amble
Nice place for trails, fall colours and one day trip. Inn for overnight stay with prior booking. Ample parking space and picnic tables.
Jess Frayer
A beautiful park with lots of trails. Just make sure you understand the trail(s) you take and weather conditions, because they could become dangerous if you're not prepared!
Paul Harris
Turkey run is a great little gem of Indiana! My personal favorite that Indiana has to offer. Beautiful little caverns and creeks, and small cliffs. It's great in the spring, summer, fall or winter.
Ian Hord
We had a wonderful time here!! We are excited to come back in the summer when the weather is warm and the water is cold. The campgrounds look clean and well maintained.
Jack n Ren'e Bates
One of the Best places in Indiana to spend time hiking with family and pets. The inn has great food, but does not allow pets inside or in cabins
Job E Sánchez
Great place to hike! Definitely recommend to come early as people tend to get there after 9 am. Trails were great!
Claudia Trostel
Stayed at one of the cabins and it was fantastic. My son and I ended up doing a 5 mile hike. The place is beautiful and well taken care of.

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. Romans 1:20
This place screams of a divine creator. Canyons, boulders, majestic trees, wildflowers, life, beauty, water, all surround this place.
I hiked trails 3, 4, and 1. These photos are from these trails. Definitely not stroller friendly and this park is one of my favorites.
Zuleyma Castillo
Beautiful park with tons to see! Lots of trails with a variety of terrain. Some easy trails for those with kids and limited physical capabilities, and lots of really rugged trails. You’d have to be in pretty good shape for the more rugged ones, lots of climbing and walking over unstable rocks and waters. Loved this park, can’t wait to come back and explore other trails.
christina messmaker
What an amazing place! Great waterfalls! Hike in moderate, rugged or very rugged conditions. We did the very rugged and had to take off our shoes and socks in the middle of December to make it through 😳 the trail. It was extremely fun! Views are amazing! Not too busy during December but I hear it's wall to wall when it's nice out. Will come back again!
Mark D
First time here, went two days in a row to do some of the easier trails. I will start out by saying that the trails are not marked very clearly, occasionally you'll see a small post with the number of the trail with an arrow pointing each way showing what trail you're on but absolutely no sense of direction if you are heading towards or away from the visitor center. As others have stated the map is pretty much useless doesn't really help so be prepared to get lost and ask others on the trail for directions back to the suspension bridge, and or it will take longer than you expect to do your walk or hike. Also I understand what you bring in bring out as far as garbage, but usually The visitor Center or what have you will provide some sort of garbage can but they do not have any so you will bring it back in your vehicle, again which is fine but when I asked the ranger they were kind of rude about it.
Overall it was a beautiful place, drove 4 hours to go there one time but doubt I'll go back just for that, it's a been there done that kind of thing unless I lived locally..
Katie Kiper
This park is a gem. It's incredibly beautiful and has lots of hiking trails. There are breathtaking views around every bend. There are challenging parts on Trail 3 including ladders and a small amount of running water.
Ludomir B
I was there on the third weekend of October. It was a sunny day and besides of canyons I fully enjoyed the colors of fall.
FanoGroup Garden
Akathingo was at Turkey run on June 11, 2022 - Cool Weather, Extra ordinary reservation, no traces of littering at All. This is a place you can go to with a family, kids would love it, especially if they grew up in town.
Praveen Gangadharan
Such an amazing state park, enjoyed walking in the rugged trails. so much undisturbed nature with full of greenery.
Da-Wang Wu
Turkey Run is a beautiful state park! Part of the main trail will require visitors to walk in the water, so bringing shoes to change will make the experiences better. The main trail was not very long, so probably 2-3 hours would be enough for the hike from the Turkey Run Inn.

Turkey Run is a great park. Its large enough that conventional attractions don't interfere with the natural and historical attractions. Camping is great, just be firm with the raccoons and you'll be okay. Keep in mind some areas are more shaded and even wooded in the campground, so choose wisely! The trails are my main attraction and there are plenty of them. The many natural formations the trails at Turkey Run tour are impressive and awe inspiring. Don't be afraid to take the longer trails and give it your best. Sugar Creek is a beautiful natural habitat full of your favorite wildlife. If you're looking for a place to park your RV for a weekend or a month long getaway Turkey Run is great. They also have an Inn I have yet to try, so year round lodging is possible. At parks like these its so important that we manage our garbage and pick up after ourselves. I always pick up bottles and plastic wrappers on the trails and parkgrounds. I hope you will choose to pick up whatever waste you see next time you come to Turkey Run.
PSA
Please don't come to the nature center with bluetooth speakers 🔊
Nobody wants to listen to your music🎶
Its disturbing the peace of the habitat you come to enjoy🌄
Rebecca Lynn “Becca” TenBrink
The park was beautiful. We picked a bit of a rainy day but no disappoinment. Checked out the Nature Center while waiting for it to blow over. Made some lunch and hit the trails.
We will definitely return to explore more.
Hoping to camp as well.
Patricia Haas
This place is awesome.
What a blessing to have so much beauty and be able to enjoy mother nature...please honor & respect her🌅🏞️🌎so future generations can as well 🥰 …
Josh Wilkins
Been here few times and never a disappointment. You love hiking and camping this is a must
Eve Gal
Excellent place for hiking lovers. You will workout your body no matter which trail you take. The nature views on the trails are spectacular. Be ready to escalate rocks, stairs, get your shoes wet and swead as crazy!!! Bring secure shoes as most areas are moggy, slippery. Nature at best expression all the way!!!!
Bridgette Hayes
Decent campground. Not as excited about our campsite #20 though as it was flooded when we arrived and still had water/mud after multiple sunny/dry days. As long as you stayed on the asphalt it was fine, but the grassy area had standing water in it so not usable at all. They had a pool, horseback riding, canoeing, tubing activities for extra fees (make sure to reserve horses in advance if you want to do that activity). It was the only state campground we have stayed at that charged for getting into the campground in addition to the campground fees!? The biggest highlight for us was the hiking trails. Lots of amazing hiking trails which were fairly shaded and cool even on a hot summer days. The trails were marked well and maps can be picked up in front of the Nature Center before going on your hike. Some geocaches (mostly premium ones) along trails as well. Neat places to hike and see in the park. They have a free nature center with star show and various animals from the area. They do NOT allow bikes on any of the trails (understandable especially with some of rocky ledges on certain trails) however the ONLY way to bike to the trails from the campground is on a busy highway with several spots where the shoulder was eroded so can be a little bit dangerous. It's not a long bike ride but be careful. Also, no bike racks near the hiking trails. Wish they had a bike path thru the woods from the campground as it would be much safer for families. Shower / bathhouses were ok, only 2 showers of the 4 with privacy shower curtains in the shower house near us but appeared clean. Overall a great place to visit for our family, would definitely pick a different campsite but the trails and other fun activities made up for the campground issues.

I am new to the area and this was my first Indiana hike. Oh my gosh, it was gorgeous! So green and lively. I would be very careful with kids as I saw one boy that got hurt from the slippery rocks.
Chris Billapando
Great for hiking and camping. Awesome trails sone on he rugged side. Hotel and cabins are available
Nicole Johnson
Took a ride with my kids on the horses. Great experience, nice staff. Walked around for a bit after, super clean park. Plenty of walking space even with it being busy. Bathrooms were also very clean
Denine Harris
This is an amazing place I've been coming for years and still continue. I prefer during the week during non holiday times. It can be extremely busy during holiday weekends !! But it is always a fun place to hike. Trail 3 is a blast for those who are more athletically inclined.
Eric
Just went here with a friend, and we had a blast! Right after the rain, trail 3 is covered in water! If you come prepared to be soaked, you'll have a great time, even in rainy conditions
Linda Thompson
Great trails if you like a challenge and don't mind wet feet
Ems C
Absolutely love this treasure!!
So many cute little frogs!
Bring your swimsuits and some water shoes !!!!
Also bug spray!
Rojen Jacob
Awesome state park with plenty of parking and beautiful trails. My family enjoyed it very much.
Jerry Meyers
We hiked all over. The trails are perfect for day hikers. They're only a couple miles long and there are many rock formations and other things to see. Be advised. There's lots of stairs.
Gary Baumert
If you like a little more rugged hike, this place has several options. There are some moderately strenuous hikes, but even the moderately rugged ones provided plenty of unique views and hiking experiences. Whether hiking along the creek or moving further into the park there a numerous superb views of a pristine forest, cliffs and carved rock formations. Be sure to reserve early as reservations are out 2 years already. There are accommodations nearby and camping, canoeing, rafting and kayaking are available. Worth the effort to explore this canyon wonderland
David Brown
absolutely breathtaking views!! a wonderful place to escape the everyday stresses of the mind created life and rejoin with nature and simplicity. With miles of hiking trails ranging from easy to more advanced, each trail is numbered and given a skill rating aling with a brief description of the terrain and obstacles.. Plenty of places to enjoy a nice picnic. cabins and camping available. family friendly environment, a must do!!

This is a two fold review. The state park is absolutely amazing. The trails are beautiful with so much to see. There are several areas where you can picnic and play games. The park itself is a 5 Star. They have horse back riding which is $25.00 per person. They do have a restaurant in the inn but I never ate there so can't comment on that. They do have a pool and an arcade in the inn which looked nice. They have an Olympic size pool but it was closed for the season. They have soccer, basketball and tennis on site.
Now the campground. The campground is large and has (2) play areas for kiddos. There isn't much land where you can play games. I hate that it isn't attached to the park. In order to walk trails if you are camping you have to drive to the park. The camp store wasn't open every day probably because lack of help. The firewood was $7.50 per bundle. I did see a truck loaded to the gill with wood and I believe he was selling it. I never seen him again so he must have sold out. The lady at the gate was very polite and such a sweet lady. They do have inmates clean the bathrooms and showers. They didn't cause any problems at all but just letting you know. Hell you can't find help so you gotta do what you gotta do.

We love Turkey run! Can be iffy for children and be sure to wear the proper hiking shoe!

Wifey and I went as an anniversary gift to each other an I must say it was absolutely AMAZING. The scenery is unbelievable, the trails range from easy to moderate I can't say none of the trails were to hard. They have a public pool for cheap, multiple locations to have a picnic or bbq. Cabins on site along with a hotel. This was my first time experiencing anything out doors of this magnitude. Experience it for yourself, you'll love it.
Jason Bowers
I have been throughout most of Indiana and the ladders trail at Turkey Run is the most beautiful place I have seen in the entire state. My 2nd would be Ogden Dunes.
Donald Gradowski
Great experience and beautiful trails.
If I had only one negative thing to say it would be they need more knowledgeable people working the front gate because the girl there was clueless and not helpful at all.
Josh Holtrop
The best thing at Turkey Run State Park is definitely the hiking trails. It offers several trails that have great views, and different length trails depending on how far you wish to hike.
The camp sites are fine. Some have good tree cover and others are more out in the open. Some of the sites are entirely uneven.
The bathroom and shower facilities are quite poor. They are very out of date, smell, and have poor drainage. There was standing water in the bathrooms, and the showers did not drain well. Showers are not individual units but several showers in one room with just curtains and very small shelves to put things on. If you're visiting with a larger trailer that has a bathroom in it this might not bother you but it makes a tent or popup trip feel extra dirty.
The pool looked nice and we went to visit one afternoon. However, just after we got sunscreen on they kicked everyone out because lightning was observed within 30 miles. We waited over an hour to get back in and after checking back several times eventually we were told they had closed for the rest of the day. They also said they were unable to give us a refund (you have to pay $3/person/day to get in) even though we couldn't actually use the pool.
The visitor center was fine. It had a few animals but was fairly small. We watched the planetarium show which was really a ranger just talking, telling some stories, and pointing out some constellations. It took about half an hour and was ok. It's fairly small and an old machine so really isn't that exciting.
Laci Rees
It's beautiful. we went during a busy season I guess and it was super packed. Beautiful nonetheless.
Natalie Holverson
We had two amazing hikes. Honestly it's hard to remember that you're so close to Indianapolis. It was gorgeous both times with going up a creek bed, crossing streams, and woodland hiking.
David Vande Vyver
Great place to see some beautiful scenery and hike for hours on end, but bring some water and a good pair of hiking boots and or maybe some rubber boots as you may have to walk in the creek and get you feet wet, and along the way you may have to climb up a pile of steps or a ladder or two depending which trail you follow, so depending on what you want to see make sure you're fit enough to cross some rough trails also they have a great visitors center that is definitely worth checking out!
Leslie Krock
Such an amazing and beautiful state park, one of my favorites!
Brent Sullivan
By far, the best State Park that I have been too in Indiana. This place was gorgeous and the trails were so much fun.
Trail 3 was "very rugged" and absolutely a great time. We had so much fun climbing the ladders and the waterfall.
We stayed at the Turkey Run campground and can't wait to come back again!
Rachel Newquist
Beautiful park, plenty of Interesting trails, some can be tricky to find. Suspension bridge is cool. Covered bridge is beautiful, I recommend the hike (but you can drive there) either trail 4 or 1, nice 4 mile loop. Lots of stairs. Plenty of river (sugar creek) access, river is not too deep. Picnic areas. Very popular park, so it can get very busy.
Donna Smith
Beautiful place to get out to enjoy, relax, hike, tubing they have it all. Great tradition to start My Children take their's now! Just amazing Nature.
Judith Huter-Bundza
The waitress was so polite. The food was buffet only. Very disappointing meal. We used to love to eat here. The food was dry, not warm and expensive. One dessert choice.
We were rushed out due to a larger group being served downstairs. Staff was needed there. Asked if we were finished at 7:15?
Hours were posted as 8pm closing?
I don't think I will return to eat any food here. The park and lodge are beautiful.
Camping is so so. Showers were only one temp in the ladies room, extremely hot. Mold on the shower curtain. It is a shame that this has changed so much.
Becky Guzman
Oh I love this park absolutely beautiful scenery great for families great for hiking
Pratikshit Singh
Perfect place for hiking with friends and family. One can enjoy the Fall colors here.
Keith Mese
Great place to hike, some rugged trails and easier ones. Can get crowded on weekends.
Josh Beard
Gotta love Turkey Run! Plenty for the whole family to do! So beautiful! Outdoor lovers Paradise!❤️
Kevin Hixon
Loved this place! So much to see! Great workout with all the elevation changes too.

Turkey Run SP is easily in my top 5 Indiana state parks! You'll question if you are even still in Indiana. Instead of the typical Indiana limestone, this area is made up mainly of Sandstone. The waters have eroded it over time creating a beautiful landscape!! The park is kept pristine for the amount of hikers and kayakers. Sugar Creek runs on the western edge of the park and canoeing and tubing are welcomed, with a plethora of companies that offer drop in and pickup all along the creek. The park features a large suspension walking bridge over Sugar Creek that is super cool. Some other features of the park are the " Ice Box" where a large Crack down into the earth allows what feels like an air conditioned breeze to blow out. There are also multiple waterfalls surrounded by prehistoric-looking flora and fauna. Beware, some trails have ladders in and out of the gullies so they aren't dog friendly, but there is plenty of dog-friendly trails!! Most trails have large staircases so be prepared for some serious up and down hiking. The park also has multiple camping sites, a large pool, a nature center, and horse stables. It is a little over an hour drive west of Indianapolis on I-74 but is 100% worth it!!
Ella Klueppel
First time visiting in the winter. Felt like we had the park all to ourselves. And the views were even more amazing with a light dusting of snow!
ryan english
Beautiful landscape with fun challenging trails to keep kids and adults entertained.
Rene Racho
What a fun, well maintained park. We chose a hike using the All-trails that combined the best features from some of the trails. Climbing boulder canyon, up and down ladders, seeing the waterfall, and thankfully going down the "140" steps. Will visit again next time I'm in the state, and hopefully in warmer weather.
Jeff Townsend
Great place for the family. Cost $9 for people out of state cheaper if your from Indiana. Tons of fun walking the limestone canyons. You can also float, kayak or canoe through the park. Pet friendly too.
Tara Powell
Beyond amazing, trails, sites, natural landscape. Definitely worth every minute and soar muscle!!
Smilinbluheart
The trails in this state park are amazing. We had a great time walking through rock canyons. The weather was perfect. Most of the trails are moderate to difficult.
-Myranda-
This is a great place to connect with family. There are tons of different trails for hiking, horse trails, Canoeing, kayaking, there's an outdoor swimming pool and an indoor pool if you have reservations for the inn. The inside pool area is lovely and spacious.
While hiking I met a lot of very kind people that were very helpful on mine and my husband's first ever hiking experience.
Stacey O’Connell
Excellent campground with canoeing close by. Campground was quiet, clean, and comfortable. The wooded area was quite comfortable and provided shade. The DNR staff was very responsive when someone in our group experienced a health emergency. We have been camping here every August for a number of years and continue to love it!
Karen Cheatham
Had so much fun tubing at turkey run go every year
Quency Jones
Very nice outing with church group people were friendly a whole lot of fun things going on around this restrooms convenient and have water scrubs everywhere 💯❤️ …
Tammy Hinote
This park has it all. Easy to difficult trails. Pool, picnic areas, shelters, playgrounds scattered throughout. Horseback riding, historical places, nature center. The inn is open for dining if cooking isn't your thing. Or stay over night at the inn or one of the cabins. It has an arcade too. Campground next to park. Canoe rentals and go carts within a stones throw. Great place to spend a day or several.
Blake Flannery
Awesome rugged trails with wonderful geographic features. The inn is nice with a pool, restaurant, and game room. Could easily spend a couple nights here to get a full experience. Expect feet to get wet on trails, but it's worth the experience. Canoeing/kayaking is also great through the park on Sugar Creek.
Jenn Marie
Beautiful park, we stayed at the RV park which was very nice too. But the park itself was amazing the most beautiful exciting hike I've ever been on and we only got to do three of the trails. There are definitely limitations on some of the trails but they are well marked in the map.
Vincenzo Caccavale
This place is a special paradise and unexpected treasure chest of priceless nature. My wife and I hiked all except 3 trails. Our favorite trail was 3. Trails 2, 6 and 7 tied for 2nd place. Trails 5 Ave 9 are well worth the hike. Trails 1 and 4 were also very nice. Will definitely return. Trail 10 is good for dogs.
Mohammed Jubair Dipto
Flora, fauna and more! Beautiful place for a moderate daytime hiking
Andrew Karagias
Been going here on and off for over 30 years. Warm and relaxing. Very clean and the restaurant is somewhere I can enjoy a home style meal or indulge in the buffet. We also like the trails along with the suspension bridge. Better than what you see in the movies, because it is real.
Terry Koo
We went here to hike with the kids and it was great. There is a beautiful clear river and we could see all the way to the bottom and see fish swimming. The kids loved seeing the baby fish teeming at the banks of the river. The best parts of our hike were walking up the streambed to bear hollow and the punchbowl. We also liked the suspension bridge and covered bridges.
Mark Rodes
We liked it. I think nice trails however we did some hiking.... very humid day and just rained... Planning to do more hiking but we did get covered and suspension bridges in on short walks we were able to get in. Did tour on Lusk house that was worth the time.
Alicia Bowers
Such a beautiful place! It was busy, but everyone was friendly and patient. My favorite trail was #9, very rugged and lots of canyons and boulder trails to climb. The whole thing was an adventure and I'm going back to check out the other half of the trails today!
Debbie Beach
So wonderful. So many trails and sites to see.
Nikhil Sreekumar
The turkey run state park is a day long visit if you want to cover all the trails. It took around 4 hours to complete trails 1,2,3,4,8 and 10 in October. All the trails were scenic especially trail 3. The trees started to show their fall colors. Some of the trails are a bit deserted, you don't see people often. Overall it's a nice park to visit and spend time.
Brandi Ireland
Beautiful! Such unique trails that one wouldn't expect in Indiana. Hiking in winter is extra special at the park. Hiking poles and shoe spikes (available to rent at the nature center) are a necessity.
Kasia W
Lovely park! The trail is pretty easy. There are some points where you need to walk up the stairs. Also it can be muddy in some places. Make sure you have something to eat and drink as there is only a gas station near by. They do serve food (burgers, pizza, hotdog's etc) but they are running out of some dishes around 3pm.
Photos are taken last day of April.
Admission prices on the photo.
Carrie Livingwellforless
We just had our small honeymoon here. It was amazing. Hard to believe this is in Indiana! It was like walking into another world. Just breathtaking!! We stayed at one of the cabins. It was clean and cozy. This is the perfect trip when time and budget is limited. You can absolutely vacation in your own state! You won't be disappointed.
Matthew Farrester
Super fun hiking and but it's not casual walking trails lol definitely have good shoes
Paul Sporleder
Great time visit. No crowds (although the camp ground is busy) and see the park transitioning from late fall and early winter.
Mark Ritter
I had a blast hiking all day on the trails at Turkey Run! None of the trails are too terribly long so you can definitely hit more then one trail in a day. I did two of the longer, rougher trails, 3 and 9 I believe. There was a fair amount of verticality, and muddy slopes, so I recommend quality hiking boots. It felt like stepping back in time once you dip down between the cliffs; the ferns and fog sets the scene! It was a great get away weekend trip coming from North West Indiana.
Kyle Brinkerhoff
This place is awesome! If you find yourself in Indiana, make it a priority to visit! Super unique comparable to slot canyons of the mid-west but instead of dry desert sand stone, it's green with vegetation.
Definitely a bucket list destination!
Oh and lets bring back common sense. Nobody likes record inflation and gas prices. Or the government telling you how to live your lives with mandates. Energy independence is an awesome thing! Please #VoteConservative.
Have a nice maskless day!
Stephanie Buffington
This was my boyfriend and mine's first time here. There are so many trails and so much to see. It was awesome being able to walk along the creek beds. We went horseback riding which was alot of fun but tell that to our butts. Lol. We'll definitely be back because there is so much more we want to see and do. Oh definitely check out the suspension bridge. And watch out for snakes. Have fun!! An absolutely beautiful place!!!
Robert Waltz
A fantastic walk in the woods...beautiful scenery, hemlock forest remnants and amazing ravines! Well worth exploration. Some trails may not be appropriate for impaired walkers or those with pets.
David Lukes
Way too many terrific things to say about good ole TR. Been coming here since 1986. I could go on for days with stories of fantastic adventure and even some mishaps out there on the trails throughout the years...
There is "never" disappointment returning to this wonderful place, even if it's raining (though that can be risky at points) With each visit the magic remains intact. Turkey Run is as significant as a treasured possession or a beloved family member. Plan on burning some major calories on the sometimes rigorous trails. There are of course plenty of things to do and see without too much effort beyond walking and a few stairs (lol). Beautiful, relaxing, and therapeutic for the mind and soul...
Chad C
Always a good day trip. We weren't expecting the state of some of the trails. I'm not sure if damage was from storms during the summer or what, but there was pretty significant damage on a few spots. There was a portion of trail 3 that was blocked off, but people have removed the barricade at the bottom. Use caution.
Penny Hollifield
Wonderful state park - lots to do! The outdoor pool is amazing. The Inn is such fun w/it's indoor pool, arcade room, & board games area. The hiking trails are fabulous!
Catherine White
Beautiful place to spe d the day, they keep the trials clean and nice
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff
Madeline Roberts
My favorite IN state park! Amazing hiking, geology, canyons, rugged trails, and a covered bridge. A great escape and truly worth the visit! I try to visit yearly. It can be quite busy on the weekends, especially this past year with COVID.
Ernest Berman
It had been a while since our last visit to this park. Still a great place! One of the best parks in Indiana. The trails were busy, but not crowded.
Ruben Enriquez
Been there twice and I really like it, I’m thinking about going this fall again for colorful trees.
Megan Fisher
I have never been here before today. We went and hiked turkey & devil's backbones and decided to stop by the park just to check it out and see what it's all about,WHEWWW!!! TRAILS!!!TRAILS!!!TRAILS!!! What started out as a simple drive through and look around ended up being an hour-hour and a half hike though trail 3 starting at the suspension bridge & a picnic before leaving. I cannot wait to go back again & have more time to explore! This place is amazing just based on the nature & VERY well maintained trails but to top it off they have an INN right there in the park that even has a community fire pit right outside!!! My only regret is not taking enough pictures!
Scott Kesler
Have been going to this park since I was a child (50+ years ago). This is a beautiful place with lots to do. It never gets old. It's wonderful for hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, picnicking, and photography.
K
Beautiful and amazing scenery. Great place to hike and take your dogs.
Christopher Wiedel
Amazing trails, my favorite is number 3.
Maple Leaf
This park is gorgeous. The trails and nature are amazing to explore. Sugar Creek is a neat place to spend the day kayaking or canoeing.
Dog friendly and clean park.
Beautiful place that deserves five stars, but park staff needs to get on the trails and start enforcing park rules!! I've seen many people openly walking the trails drinking from beer cans and smoking...
People are inconsiderate but this should be a safe park for everyone to enjoy..
Karley
Turkey Run was such a fun state park! We followed Trail 3, and there are definitely spots that made us realize why it earned the “very rugged” rating. It requires some climbing, and a lot of the trail is wet rock that got a bit slippery. It seems like there are a ton of stairs no matter which trail you take. There are trail markers at each intersection, but we still got a little turned around trying to make our way back. I recommend keeping the trail map with you and downloading an offline google map of the area just in case!
Steven Hallmark
Best state park in Indiana for hiking and canoeing. I’d give it ten stars if possible. Also - no mosquitos!
Beth Martin
This is an absolutely gorgeous park! The views are breathtaking! Most of the trails are rugged and go through creek beds and ravines. Be prepared with water shoes or lots of socks! The trail signage of this park is better than some of the IN parks we've been to recently, but sometimes still requires some guess work.
Dustin Gibson
Awesome park in Indiana and awesome trails for hiking. Try the upper part of trail 9 if your looking for a challenging hike. There is different levels of hikes that is listed in park map so theres something for everyone. There is also signage showing where to go. Except for there is a place when going south on trail 3 that you cant tell to go left or right. I went right only to eventually find a dead end. I definitely recommend this place though!
Laura Slivinski
Stunning trails, interesting nature center. Staff goes above and beyond to accomodate and compensate for facility and site issues. We visited in early June. We were assured 3 times in the weeks before we arrived that the outdoor pool would be open, but it was closed due maintenance issues throughout the duration of our stay. Restaurant and Nature Center schedules were still on COVID limitations.
Nicky Lee
Turkey Run State Park in Marshall, In, gets my A++ for hiking and beautiful scenery. This was are second time here. Love they have the trails marked from easy to rugged on the map. The paths are well kept and space enough for social distancing in this time of Covid. We did have masks but only needed them a couple times on the stairs and suspension bridge. Today we hit trail 6 by the Inn through the gorgeous Turkey Run Hollow, then hit trail 4 to Sunset Point and by the Lieber Cabin, over the Suspension Bridge to the Coal Mines and then through the Covered Bridge. We then traveled on to trail 2 past Goose Rock, and last through a short trail 1 for a good 4 mile hike. Loved it so much. More photos to come soon.
Nora Schwartz
Beautiful park with the best hikes. Our kids loved this trip. Bring towels to wade or swim in the river. Trails 3 and 9 are a must, but there are no bad hikes. The inn is quaint and the cabins were nice to stay in. I would skip food at the lodge and bring your own or visit a local town about 15-20 minutes away. A long weekend trip is perfect for this park.
Daniel V
Phenomenal place. I deeply regret waiting so many years to go there.
Many of the trails will be wet or muddy, sometimes requiring you to walk through shallow rivers. Bring appropriate shoes unless you're a ninja.
Glen Morris
A beautiful place to look at fall leaves, spring leaves, or all of the trees! It has a pretty generous amount of trails of varying difficulties. Parking is very nice and entrance into the park is simple. They have a nature center, inn with a restaurant, shelters, and other amenities. I would definitely check them out!
Matt Ritter
This is a nice park. Unfortunately due to COVID the pool is closed. We went for the hiking so it didn't matter. We took trails 3, 5, and 10 where they connected to make a loop and it was a blast. FYI they are a little rugged so be prepared. Make sure you are wear shoes you can get wet and eat for slippery rocks on the trail. It was busy today at 2, when we arrived but it was manageable on the trails. Check it out if you are looking for a good park to hike.
Shawn Sullivan
Absolutely amazing day of hiking here! I hiked trails 3, 5, 9 and 10. There was a very nice mix of rugged and moderate hiking which kept it very interesting. The views were great the whole time. I highly recommend being prepared to get your feet a little wet. You can get through most of the trails and keep your feet dry but it's more fun if you dont have to worry about it. I highly recommend.
Ian Callahan
This park is very different from other parks in Indiana. The trails work their way in and out of small canyons that are being formed by local streams. There are several interesting formations and carvings to see throughout the park. The trails are relatively easy to hike with a few rugged sections sprinkled in. Make sure to wear water resistant shoes or prepare to have your feet wet for the rest of the hike. There are sections where you have to walk through the stream and there are other sections where it is very easy to slip in. Also, this is a very popular place, so make sure to be considerate on the trails.
Jeremy Porter
I love this place! We moved here from Oklahoma a few years ago and was excited about the state parks here. Turkey run is our favorite place by far! Next time we plan to spend another day to hit Shades and to kayak sugar creek.
Matt Lollis
One of the most beautiful state parks we have ever been to! Several of the trails are very rigorous but the views are well worth it! The geological history is astounding and everyone will get a thrill at how amazing our planet is. This is a must see place for anyone that enjoys the outdoors! We stayed in a cabin which was nice and clean and one small issue arose which was fixed immediately so a huge shout-out to the staff for being awesome! Please go and enjoy the outdoors and do not litter, be safe and be smart while hiking!
Randy Price
I first went to TRSP my 8th grade summer ('79). I have since visited it many times. It is a great place for hiking the trails, kayaking and canoeing. The views on the trails are magnificent. Pay attention to the trail guide as some of the trails are rugged and have many stair steps/ladders and wet/slippery walking surfaces that are not suited for small children/animals. Also keep a copy of your trail map with you as it's easy to get confused as to where you at. I recommend wearing comfortable athletic clothing and KEEN type sandals as your feet will most likely get wet hiking. Bring a water bottle too as it is humid in the canyons. TRSP gets very crowded on weekends and holidays during summer months so reserve your campsites well in advance.
Sanoar Rahman
Visited last December, loved it because our toddler son absolutely loved it. Stayed there for a night, enjoyed the heated indoor pool. Our kid splashed for more than an hour. Food was good as well. Hiked some of the snowy/icy trails in the evening and next morning. It was a blast!
Rebecca Patterson
I had an I had an amazing experience at Turkey Run today the trails are beautiful and the day was just perfect in temperature. I definitely will be back there again to walk trail three. I got to see a lot of neat Wild Life that you would not normally see in your own backyard so I definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and everyday Society.
Josh's World
Omg this park is so beautiful! Amazing sights. Will go again. Map is kind of weird...had trouble finding way around on trails, but the beauty made up for it.
Michal Marzec
Gorgeous views. Very well kept, and lots of various trails for different kinds of hikes. Make sure to pack a pair of water ready boots as some cool spots to reach will get your shoes wet - noob mistake for my first visit out there.
Carlee Braddick
One of my favorite places to go camping!
Jennifer Siatta
I come at least once a year with my family and have been for almost 20 years. We love the hiking the waterfalls and the swimming in the water. The cabins and Inn was open and down the street at Sugar Valley they do boat rentals which is fun. It was more packed then usual but I think because of covid -19 everyone flocked here. In state cars (IN) are $5 day
John L
Friendly park staff and plenty of scenic trails to explore
Jessica Miller
What a beautiful place! Being out in the heart of nature, nothing can compare. My hubby and I as well as our 5 kiddos hiked/walked trail 3, rough stuff but so so fun! We will definitely be back. Here's just a few of the many pictures I took along the way!
Samuel Shewmake
Had a wonderful time, plan on coming back sometime soon, the scenery was beautiful
Man 1000
This is a huge park with endless trails to follow. Many scenic views are available to enjoy. Turkey Run is a great hiking and photographic destination.
The 49th Adventure
Had an amazing winter hike the first weekend of February. N
The trail map was semi useless in the snow but overall it was a phenomenal experience!
Nate Rardin
I saw exactly 0 turkeys, let alone ones that move faster than a light jog. Usually, I simply would not stand for such false advertising, but the park is quite beautiful, and the trails are engaging, so I guess I can let it slide.
Side note: These aren't just mulched garden trails. You need to bring actual hiking shoes alonv with a willingness to step in mud, through water, and on narrow rocky paths.
Samantha Moreland
Beautiful views and trails, great anytime of the year.
Barb Hattery
Every trail is breathtaking! Whether you want an easy hike or a rugged trail, Turkey Run has it all. Pictures don’t do it justice sometimes. I go several times a year and the hour drive is worth it for me and my dog!! You can hike, eat at the Inn, stay at the Inn or camp at their campground. Just a couple of miles down the road you can rent a canoe or kayak or go tubing!! It’s a great park anytime of year!!
Eric Anders
My wife and I enjoyed a hike in this beautiful state park. Lots of colors, and so peaceful! The air was crisp and clean, and we had the trails to ourselves early on. This place was stunning and very clean...come and enjoy!
Tiffany R
Really great hiking trails! Trails 3 and 9 are the most rugged but some of the prettiest! Trail 4 is also a favorite. Love being able to take the dogs hiking here too. Also, a nice place to picnic. Horseback riding and a swimming pool are also in the park. The inn is a nice place to stop and stay. Stop by the visitor center too if you have the time!
C H
Good hiking with different difficulty levels marked on the maps.
Melissa Austin
We love everything about this campground. We have a small pop up camper and we could park it in all of the spots.
We came up to canoe down the river, but it was too high so our children (16 years of age) couldn't go down it.
The only 2 complaints were that the bathrooms were really dirty due to all of the mud from the rain, and the campsite grill/ fire ring was not level. We had alternative ways of cooking, but if the fire was the only way, it would have been challenging.
The trails were great for novices.
Loretta Fleming
Such a wonderful place to go and connect with nature!! They have a variety of trails ranging from easy to difficult! Been going here since I was kid, and I will always choose to go here!! Its pet friendly and a great place to be with family!!
Chad E
Fantastic trails. Beautiful rocks. Great hiking. Make sure you bring your map. Please don't use Bluetooth speakers on the trails. Be aware and respectful of others wanting to listen to quiet nature. Use headphones if you need music.
Melissa Earles
This is my most favorite place to be! Either trailing or canoeing this park is the best. Rules are stricter because of carelessness. I do miss swimming and wading. Year passes are the way to go if you visit over 10 times a year. 🖤 …
Larry Erhardt
Park is beautiful with plenty of nice hiking trails. The horseback riding was awesome; people and horses were nice. Did go off grounds to kayak though believed we still went through the park.
You should visit.
Nikki W
The is no other park in Indiana like Turkey Run. The camping was peaceful and relaxing. The trails are well maintained and breathtaking!
Melody Mitchell
Best state park in Indiana! Nothing compares to it. Wear comfy shoes and pack a backpack with snacks/water and hit the trails!
Sam Rhoades
I love the public, river tubbing, and canoeing. The trails are a good walkabout. Ranging in distance, and a lot of beautiful sites along the way.
Karen Glicksman
Always beautiful, no matter what season!
Lure Reviews
Great place for a scenic hike, one of the best in indiana. Trail 3 is the best if your wanting the most out of your trip. Trail 6 for a beginner. Bring your map with you that they give you at the gate. Enjoy
Mike Ferris
I love hiking here. Beautiful scenery. So many wonderful educational opportunities with children as well.
Coach Connie
It was a blast. I only gave 4 stars because trail ratings would have been ideal. Trails 9 and 5 were the most challenging but what they take you too is so worth it. ✅ Stone Canyon ✅Falls Canyon ✅ Ice Box...you will not be disappointed😍 I will post some pics from our hike! Totally worth the trip. …
Jes Cogs
Our family went tent camping for the first time here in October. The camping spots are hard to come by because the place is very popular. The campgrounds are kept clean and people were good about keeping their voices down during the night.
The hiking trails were an experience for a novice hiker like myself. We did the #4 trail with small kids. It was a lot of stairs to go up and down. The kids didn't have time to complain because there was so much landscape to take it and explore.
The vista from the bridge is beautiful. I hope to kayak down the river on our next trip.
Cody Mast
We really enjoy Turkey Run hikes. We had a 1 year old and 8 year old with us. Trail 6 is short but beautiful and pretty easy for the kids. We could have just hung out there all day. We ended up doing 3, 5, 9 and 10, and it was a bit much for the kids, but we made. Lots of crowds gathering around the "Ladders" so we bypassed that part of 3.
Erin Mooney
Arrive early especially if you plan on visiting during a holiday weekend. We had a blast & our little guy loved splashing around in the river. There were ample, clean, restrooms near picnic areas. We liked the little playground "hidden" back in the woods a little. Made it a little more personal of an experience for our little one.
Dawn E
Coolest place I've ever been hiking in the Midwest! Some more peaceful paths, but most are pretty moderate to rugged and super fun.
Katy Aiello
Beautiful state park with a variety of trails for all ability levels. There are 11 trails total, the longest trail only being 2 miles. You can connect multiple trails together for a longer hike if you want something a little more challenging. This is a state park that I really enjoy going to in the winter because the scenery is absolutely beautiful. There is a lodge with cabins on site and a restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is closed in between those meal times though so make sure to check out the hours before you plan on eating there. Just a quick 1 hr 20 min drive from Indy and so worth it!
Yetemar-Kenyell Cross
WOWITY WOW. I heard about this place for the longest and finally decided to go. I was mega impressed. Being here feels like a visit to Middle Earth. A hobbit could just show up at any moment. The scenery is a dramatic turn from the typical Indiana farmland with incredible rock formations and rugged gullies that will test your cardio and calves! Some trails are more moderate, but the rugged trails were amazeballs. This has gotta be the most intriguing place in Indiana I’ve ever been to.
Jordan McWhirt
Amazingly beautiful park. But along with the park it’s great for kayak lovers. Plenty of spots to drop in and pick up your kayak on the river for free. It doesn’t get any better than that. The campground was also amazing !
Cassandra Turner
Soooo Awesome kids had a ball would definitely recommend. Great for exercise definitely a workout plenty of stairs so be prepared! Bring Water and a camera ,😊 …
Janet
Beautiful place with amazing hiking trails. I took my kids with (youngest is 5) and with some assistance, they were able to go on the most rugged trail (9-the one with the ladders). Possibly our favorite state park in Indiana for hiking. Make sure to bring shoes you don't mind getting wet.
Brad Coffing
Fun place to spend a couple of days!
P. Lamberty
Pictures don't do it justice. It's a beautiful place and fun to hike. I lived in Indiana for a while and frequently went to hike here in my free time. I recommend getting a trail map and following trail 3 if you have never been before. It has lots of stairs and some ladders so it can be a bit challenging if you aren't used to that. The other trails are great too and so is the camping and the swimming pool in the summer.
becca itkowitz
Gorgeous hiking! You need shoes that can get wet (and not flip-flops like we saw someone attempt). There are spots where you need to scramble up rocks and take many stairs up and down. There is an area that requires ladders. You can avoid that spot though.
If you want to avoid those things ask what trail 10 is like
That was the only part we didn't do really. The kids and I hiked about for 3 hours. It was lots of fun! Bring water and a snack. PLEASE carry your trash out. We picked up after others 😡 who threw several slim Jim wrappers in the ground. Others littered the banks of the river with water bottles.
If you're a bit quiet you can see birds and lizards. We had to run ahead of a very loud family (the adults we loud, not so much the kids) their voices echoing across the canyons. 😳 Flip flop family... Once we pushed on everyone else was quiet and taking in the beautiful surroundings too. Well with exploring!
I'm curious about the history of the Inn on the grounds.
Horseback riding is available and a large swimming pool that opens in mid June.
Check out the birds at the nature center.
The nature center has toilets and a small gift shop.
Josi Campos
A beautiful place you wouldn't expect in the middle of Indiana, the land of corn fields. There a plenty of beautiful trails to hike,if you enjoy kayaking they also have places nearby which can set you up on different length trips, tubing down the river. Its definitely a fun place to camp and get away with your family, friends,or significant other. Any nature lover would enjoy!!
Teresa Jean May
Amazing. I can't even begin to describe the feelings you get roaming through here. My hiking partner said trail 6 felt like we had stepped back into the time when dinosaurs roamed. I've been on Trails 1,6,7,11. They are all different and beautiful in their own ways.
Cesica
I had the best time ever with my the grandkids. From a very rugged hike🚶♂️followed by a refreshing dip in the Sugar Creek. Looking forward to some horseback riding next and more hiking. Trail 3 was rough, but fun. We didn't have a clue for what we were in store for, Bear Hollow is no joke. …
Laura Fitzgerald
This park is an incredible place! The trails are well taken care of and are well labeled . We loved hiking there and will be going back. It's a hidden gem of a park!
jodi trottier
Many beautiful trails ranging from easy to rugged. Only 7 dollars per car to get in. Nature center is great with wildlife education and trail maps. Camping and RV camps are available as well as 2 inns to rent rooms. There is a nice outdoor swimming pool on the property as well. Sugar creek runs through the park where you can canoe, kayak, fish, or swim
Craig Long
Beautiful park. Fantastic trails, many rugged to near impossible paths. Trail 9 goes directly up a water fall. The park is very busy on weekends, many uncontrolled children. Beware of rising water when hiking in the caverns. This state park was a CCC project from the 1930’s, there is a lot of history that was made by the workers that we can enjoy today, hand cut stairs in rock faces are fantastic.
Keith Byron
While some of the trails were a little flooded, the scenery was wonderful. The more cultivated areas are well-kept.
Jeffrey Goodrich
Turkey run is a beautiful park with hikes suitable for all ages. Some hikes are a bit rugged and may not be great with small kids. We did trail 3 to 10. Portions of trail 3 require hiking through water. It is possible to pick your way through on dry rocks, but it's much easier if you just come prepared to get your feet wet.
Leah Burns
Absolutely amazing park! Trail 3 is my favorite. It's described as rugged but was quite doable, even for my 5 year old. My 65 year old mom went most of the way, but not up the rocky river area. Trail 6 is another favorite. With younger kids, we spend about 2 hours here. With kids 8 years old and older, we could spend 4-6 hours.
Tim Schmitt
We went camping as a family here this Fall with a bunch of other families. Our kids had a complete blast. My 5yr old son said, "Daddy, this is the best day of my life" while hiking the trails. The scenery is amazing and inspiring. The campgrounds are very clean and well kept. I grew up going to Turkey Run annually as a kid. I'm excited to start that tradition with my family now.
M Oakley
One of my favorite state parks. We spent the day doing the trials, such a fun activity with beautiful views. From the waterfalls and cross bridge. I always look forward to our visit to Turkey Run State Park. We plan on coming back to camp in the spring!!
Brymyson
Beautiful hikes...we did the rough and very rough...it was a workout but so worth it. Everything was just beautiful. Pack alot of water!
S Gerber
Excellent park, great trip icicle tour to punch bowl over valentine's weekend. Nice friendly park rangers/naturalists. Free loaner crampons for ice hiking tour.
Terrence Jent
Turkey Run is one of, if not the most popular of all the Indiana State parks. You'd be challenged to find better hiking opportunities than those at Turkey Run. We have small children so we didn't get to try some of the more rugged trails, but we look forward to enjoying them as they become age appropriate for the kids. We stayed at the campground and it was nice. The bugs were bad, but it is to be expected. The pool is very nice and has a small area for toddlers. The Inn is a nice option for meals and exploring as well. Would also highly recommend canoeing, kayaking or floating Sugar Creek! We'll be back in the fall!
Ellyn Pruitt
Try to remember you hiking shoes! This is a STUNNING State Park. We hiked parts of trail 3, 5, and 10 for a late afternoon hike.
Sara Binyon
A beautiful State Park to explore the wonders of nature and go on a day hiking trip for any level. Places to BBQ, and shelters if there is rain. A picturesque location in the heart of Parke County. A must go! The pool is open from Labor Day to Memorial Day. If you don't stay in the park there are camp sites near.
Patrick Hoagland
Amazing views with a feel like something out of Lord of the rings, be prepared to get your feet wet and some of the trails go through the creek bed. As well they have horse and pony rides but be prepared to have to have them scheduled a good bit in advance.
Jon Scott
Turkey Run is a fantastic place to hike, walk your dog, and take an Indiana adventure. The trails are not difficult and kids will love going. Lots of shade, easy parking, and very safe.
Courtney Cook
From the suspension bridge, to kayaking on the creek, to just walking the trails, the environment Is gorgeous all seasons. Fall might be my favorite though, the colorful leaves are to die for. This is my favorite location in Parke County, a close second to Shades State Park!
Droptiny
My Husband and I set this State Park as a destination hike this year to see what Indiana has to offer. Who knew it had something so gorgeous other than corn. We will be back and bringing the kids next time to hit some trails.
Daniel Monnett
Of all of Indiana DNR properties, Turkey Run is by far my favorite. It is a true geographic treasure. If you have the chance, I highly recommend to get outside and go hiking as much of Turkey Run as you are able.
Seldon Kwafo
A pretty cool place to escape to when you you need space away from the banalities of life.
Robert Foster
I can't believe I waited this long to come here. This is the most beautiful place I've been in Indiana. A lot of the trails are not for the faint of heart, but I can't believe some of the things I saw were in Indiana!
David Riggleman
One of the best state parks in Indiana. The trails offer amazing beauty that makes you question if you are still in Indiana, going through gorges and past waterfalls. The trails also present a fun adventure with ladders on certain parks and jumping across rocks when going through sections of the water filled gorge. Sugar Creek also offers a great place for a refreshing dip in the summer time. Check out this park and I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Stuart Petersen
My favorite State Park since I was a kid and now I get to bring my kids. It's a lot busier now than when I was growing up and some people need to learn respect for others by not playing loud music in the canyons or throwing their trash in the park. People suck but this park is awesome.
Allissa Smith
This place is so beautiful and the trails are amazing. Its rugged trails and you must be careful. It's so historic and theres a lot to do.
Matthew Russon
Very pretty! Trails can be muddy, but the views are great! Trees, rock cliffs, ladders down into ravines, bridges & more to see on the different hikes! Their maps helpfully describe the easiness of the different trails so you can choose accordingly. Will definitely come back! Enjoyable drive to get there as well from the Lafayette area!
Felix Brena
If anyone out there thinks there is nothing to do Indiana Indianapolis think again. Y'all must go see Turkey Run State Park. Out of all the trials we hiked number 3 is the best. It's a must go do with family, but take note it's for people that can walk, climb, and jump. We had to go over big tree logs and walk on some rocks. All was call the park to find which is the best.
Jesse Morehouse
Great place to hike. Take waterproof hiking boots as your feet will get wet!
Ashley Joseph
It's all a amazing adventure.. The hike on the trails is beautiful scenery. Good family trip to do together.
Jaru L
Beautiful place! I finished exhausted but happy because I spent a good time sorounded by nature. You can go, have your lunch and then walk through the trails.
Brian Grismore
Probably Indiana's best park. Especially trail 3! Go to Rockville for dinner at 36saloon!
Crystal King
Very cool 👍 great hiking trails one downside is the trails are not very well marked . Theses trails are NOT for the faint of heart but the scenery is beautiful definitely worth the hike …
Yolonda Wilson
Amazing place to site see and have a family day. The trails are a bit dangerous for the little kids as they are a bit slippery in places. We spent 6 hours there and didnt even see everything.
Dan Pearce
Best hiking trails within two hours of central Illinois! Trails are very crowded, but the park itself is gorgeous and we'll maintained.
Ryan Morris
One of the most beautiful places to hike. Been coming back here for years. Trails for all ages.
Jeff Golias
The whole area is very pretty and fun to walk. The trails are not for the faint of heart. There is lots of climbing, crawling, stairs and wet shoes. We had a great time there.
RaGe Smurf6000
Its was awesome! Only did trails 3 and 10. Do plan on going back out to do more trails!
Rashida Freeman
Very nice views and trails. It was sad that so many trails were blocked off because of fallen trees so we had to back track a lot. The place is beautiful and nice to hike. For the adventurer, their rugged and very rugged trails are not what I would call rugged or difficult at all. Only if you have small children or your dog with you would it be somewhat challenging. They have lots of easy walking trails also. Definitely a must visit spot!!
autumn rogers
Amazing trails and nice park ranger. Keith offered us a ride back to the car because we had a little trouble finding our way back, and the whole ride was very pleasant. I've been here 4 times and will continue to come back until I've seen every trail. Great for dogs, families, young couples, or anyone who likes to just get out and travel. This is a must-stop destination. Nice other amenities like horses, a pool, and an inn. There is a hole-in-the-wall gas station right up the road. The only slight negative was the signs for the trails sometimes can be confusing, and you may get turned around, but logically it makes sense because the whole point is that it is a nature trail. There are some signs and adding too many would take away from the adventurous feel. Other than that; absolutely wonderful.
chennu benipal
Loved this place.. Long trails.. adventures
Jim Knoll
Campground is clean and well kept. Sites are fairly close together, but level asphalt pads are nice. The day use, and hiking trails are the main draw. You wouldn't expect the creeks and large cliffs in west central IN. Trail #3 uses a flowing stream bed as the trail for quite a bit, and is one of the most unique trails that I've seen. Very fun.
Sumiko Clark
I am from California and hiked through Turkey Run during a field trip about Indiana geology. It is a beautiful location with well-groomed trails. Some of the trails can be a bit tricky.
Jon Harrington
Went on a hike here and it was great! We spent most of our time on trail #3 and I can't wait to go back and venture through the rest.
Mike Williams
It's a fun place to hike around. The cabins are great!
Mark T
Great place to stop and hike, definitely worth spending a day on the trails
Devin Howard
This park has some of the best trails you can find. There are several miles of hiking trails to explore.
The park itself has a lot you can do here, from camping, fishing, swimming, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and tubing down the river.
Carolyn Rozmarynowski
Gorgeous state park with a great network of hiking trails, a nature center, swimming pool, historic inn, cabins, plenty of parking, campground, and (of course) picnic tables and charcoal grills.
The bathrooms near the suspension bridge are regularly cleaned and very conveniently located.
If you're looking for a short hike, the trail behind the Inn that goes past Lieber cabin provides a gorgeous overlook spot with a very well placed bench.
Ken Miller
Great hiking trails. Some more challenging than others but all have their own unique rewards.
Deb O
Beautiful park! Loved the Ladders trail! Definitely want to do more next trip!
Karri Hill (Karbear)
Beautiful park and awesome hiking... Also pet friendly! Really looking forward to spending more time there this summer and in the fall when all the colors have changed it should be beautiful!
Alec Nilsen
Absolutely gorgeous! I've been going to Turkey Run since I was a kid, well over twenty years and the variety of trails and their uniqueness is really cool. From the mild, calm stroll through the woods of trail one to the adventurous and famous "ladder trail" (trail 3) Turkey Run never disappoints!
Luke Smith
This is a wonderful park with multiple trails through woods and rocky areas. Kayaking and tubing is allowed with a rental agency just outside park. Cabins available though I've never stayed there, many different picnic areas as well. Will definitely return!
Mark Wisehart
I’ve been coming to this park for nearly 50 years and it somehow stays the same. This year I brought my drone and captured a perspective I have never captured before.
Jesse Wilson
I will say I really, really liked this park and all the nature it has to offer!
I enjoyed the trails and seeing nature at a distance and as you can see from my photos what I am saying isn't doing this park justice for it's beauty!
People were really friendly and helpful. I will also say if you want the park pin make sure you see the Nature center right off the bat for the new rules to get the park pins!
Without any prior knowledge of the park I went and I'm glad I let my intuition tell me which site to get. Depending on where you're at you will be sleeping in a tent setup like it was on the side of a mountain. The State of Indiana has really done a poor job maintaining this park in that regards! They really want to privatize it which is sad! They also aren't teaching DNR of their real authority! I had someone decided to blast a movie while playing and I had to tell them to turn it off! Really?
Oh, and parents if you kid wakes up screaming like someone is killing them please sleep in the tent with them to shut them up. Nothing like DNR (who knew their authority), the police and more showing up thinking someone was being skinned alive! What a way to wake up the whole camp ground just to learn he wakes up this way everyday and the parents sleep right through it!
Also leave your blue tooth speaker at home! I had a perfect photo lined up of an Owl just to have someone start playing music and it took off! Then they walked by complaining they weren't seeing any animals! Really!
Pilar Massanes
Incredible places. Was expecting nice views but the place blew my mind. You feel so small compare to the rocks and nature
Lily Assaad
Gorgeous! You feel like you got exported out of Indiana and to a lush Amazonian jungle. I got to see a snake there too, which was scary and exciting :-) would 100% recommend regardless of the season.
Anna Zulkowski
11 beautiful hiking trails, comfortable cabins, a large sparkling pool, horseback riding, and so much more. Fun for couples, families, or the lone wanderer. Woman-founded and full of history. This place makes my heart happy <3
Aeris Villarreal
Beautiful a must see. Only went on trail 3 and for but I'm sure the rest are just a breathtaking!
jeremy worley
Lots to do. Our kids loved this place. Especially, the horseback riding. One of our favorite State Parks.
Amy L
Last weekend in April is a good time for wildflowers.
Blaine Bugaski
Quite an awesome experience. We will definitely return in the future to traverse more of the trails!
Marc
This place is pretty cool when you get off the paths and follow the creeks. Dont take tour dog if it doesnt like water, stair climbing or jumping over logs!!
Jesse Shuttler
Had a great stay. Some beautiful trails.
Inese Rinda
Beautiful hike. Trail 3 very scenic cliffs and streams. Not sure if even passable during wet season
Chris Mauck
Park rangers are courteous and in the current state of health and well-being, they are also concerned about your health. There were quite a few people there, but no clusters and of course, plenty of open space to hike and spend private time with your own group. The views are always great and the trails well kept.
Mary Chepela
Turkey Run did not disappoint! The Inn was clean with refurbished bathrooms. The restaurant food was home cooked style and fairly delicious. The trails were fun! Park is immaculate!!
Tiffany Arnold
Turkey Run is a beautiful park... wish it wasnt the hottest weekend ever cause we would have done more exploring! We will for sure be back to experience more of the park!
David Lecklitner
Rough start as the cabin we rented was filthy, but they remedied it quickly with a nice room. Staff was very friendly. Other people there are, too! Bring all your supplies or drive 30 minutes to the nearest Walmart, not much else to choose from. Wear sturdy shoes for the hike and know there are no facilities on the trails!
Stacey Staggs
Absolutely love Turkey Run. My fiance and I are having our wedding there in September. So excited
Thomas Strömberg
Hiking #3 with my wife and kids (8 & 10) is probably the most fun I have ever had outdoors. You will want to bring water shoes, especially if it has rained recently.
K M
My friends talk about this park so much, and on my way back from Chicago with my dogs I finally decided to stop. I am so glad that we did! Gorgeous park, excellent trails, and the staff is just so wonderful all around. Already planning to come back!
Michael Horn
My family has such a long history with this park starting with my grandparents coming here for thier honeymoon in 1928. We came here as kids, then teens then young adults. Then we brought our children every year before moving to Arizona. Well this year we flew the whole family back and have now shared it with our grandchildren. We just absolutely LOVE this park, it's accommodations and the hiking!
David Broadstreet
The hiking trails were amazing for the whole family. There is near-by canoing and play areas for the kids.
Debbie Knechtel
Great hike. We took a picnic lunch, it was a wonderful day.
Eliezar Lian
Biggest and top rated Park in Indianapolis, IN. We were horsing around all day 😀. First time riding a horse 🐴. So many other things to explore in this park. …
SAMUEL TURRUBIARTE
By far the best hiking i have done the trails are so amazing so much to see great camp ground clean as well its a must if you live near by
Trey Biggs
This is a great state park! The hiking trails are top notch. You're surrounded by canoe and kayak guides too. Definitely pick a camp site with trees.
Shirley Dawson
It is a beautiful place my family always has a wonderful time the trails are awesome the restrooms are always clean the staff is wonderful
Lorie Cox
You can take the bridge behind the Turkey Run Inn for an easier route to these views. If you're more adventurous, try trail 6 beside the cabins at the Inn.
Debbie Mann
The beauty, the colors of fall, and the Covered Bridges. Staff very friendly. A favorite of mine, try to visit once a year. Love it!!
Lydia Forth
We absolutely love Turkey Run! The park is stunning and the trails are so fun with varying levels of difficulty! We especially enjoyed the "less popular" trails. The park rangers are friendly and very helpful!
Joseph Ginder
Beautiful trails up and down through stone formations and forest along Sugar Creek. The park also has a pool, playgrounds, historic structures, and a nature center. The suspension foot bridge across Sugar Creek is the centerpiece.
Jessika Spayd
This park was amazing! We hiked trail 3 and had a blast!! Such a beautiful park!!
Rebecca Forsythe
A wonderful place for the trails
cody pyard
There are a lot of different hikes to do. Very cool day trip. Hikes are some of the best you'll get in Indiana.
Darrell Keller (dkeller123)
This place is awesome!!! A must for anyone living or visiting near Indianapolis! Start at the Nature Center and try trails 3, 5 and 9. Make sure you enjoy the entire loop of each!
Joe Doss
Turkey run is my all time favorite state park in Indiana. The trails are scenic, and mostly rugged. There are trails available that are in the easier side, but the most scenic trails are fairly rough terrain.
Michael Anderson
We love Turkey Run. So many different trails of different levels and I love seeing all the pets on the trails. Lots if picnic areas and a giant swimming pool.
Jackie Hardman
This place is a nature lovers paradise nestled back in the woods in Indiana.....It is a best kept secret since I've never heard of it before....But it is beautiful and Rustic......The service was amazing ......the trails were gorgeous.....cant wait to come back
Rob Diegel
Even in the rain and mud and cold this is a place where every turn you see something beautiful. The fall and winter hikes are as great as summer.
Beronica Cruz Hamill
Love the terrain at Turkey Run. Great variety through the many trails and off you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of a Bald Eagle. Very family friendly also.
Steven Mander
Great hikes and beautiful views. Turkey run is great for the whole family. There are many different hikes with a variety of different lengths. I recommend coming here!
John Daily
Camp trail 11. Our dog jumped toward a bird. No guard rails for safety plummeted 100 ft + down we are on our way to emergency vet in Lafayette. Definitely glad it wasn't a kid or adult. This raises my safety concerns for an otherwise beautiful state park.
Alex Burba
Amazing park! The hiking trails are for the most part pretty rugged. You can cross streams and climb up rocks. And the suspension bridge is out of this world! I'll DEFINITELY be coming back!
Tricia Reynolds
I absolutely love this place and all it has to offer. The biggest drawback is that the room doors in the Inn close soo loud and it echoes. And the walls in the cabins are pretty thin. So it's not always a peaceful sleep in either place depending on who is around you and how late they decide to go to sleep or how early they decide to get up.
Lew Hughes
Some pretty sites - lots of trees and screened from other sites .....
BEWARE OF HOT SHOWERS !!!
On the 200-numbered row, the Men's and Women's showers had faulty faucets.
In both showers, the temperature setting of the hot water CANNOT be altered - it comes out quite hot ... someone very young, elderly or physically impaired may get burned ... in addition, the handle for the hot water in the Men's ADA shower is loose - it falls off when touched .....
WATER STATION
The water pressure was very low ... it took 30 minutes plus to fill our 40 gallon fresh-water tank .....
MOHAMMED DALOWAR HOSSAIN
Really beautiful and huge, still couldn't finish to end
Sarah L.
My first time visiting the park yesterday and I can't wait to go back! The trails are stunningly beautiful. The trails are well maintained and it wasn't crowded at all (we were there on a Tuesday afternoon). We had just gotten to the punch bowl when a storm came right down on us so we weren't able to explore much on that trail so we took trail 9 to boulder canyon. I'd like to finish trail 4, check out the coal mine and ladders. Beautiful terrain!
Annaliese P
What a great park! Loved hiking trails 3 & 5 & 9. Particularly noticed how clean it was, so great to not see any litter on the trails. We came on father's day right around prime time expecting a lot of crowds, and honestly it wasn't too bad (being used to Starved Rock closer to us in Chicago, so YMMV) We want to come back with swimsuits to hit the pool after some hiking!
Ty Petro
This is an excellent state park to go to. If you're looking to canoe down the turkey run a river, you can do so right across the street from the state park. Most of the sites are level but there are some that are very unlevel. So please check before you book. We will be back just like we have for the last few decades.
Amie Schneider
Since we were from out of state, there was a $9 entrance fee. After visiting, I would have paid triple that. The park and trails are absolutely stunning. We hiked in the rain that day, and it was completely worth it. Some of the trails are challenging, so make sure you look at the trail maps. I didn't realize we would be hiking up actual waterfalls (be prepared for wet feet); it was fun and worth every second. The trails are fairly well marked; there were a couple spots that were a little confusing, but you'll figure it out. This us a must see for anyone that enjoys the outdoors.
Carollia
Even in the middle of winter this is a great place for a hike, amazing rock formations, paths of different difficulty level. The park also organize short guided hikes
Brian Singleton
Great hiking trails. My five year olds were able to the trails with us
Vicki Hilliar
Lots of different difficulty hiking trails, extremely breath taking. Fun but not dangerous to go off trail before sunset. Has good trails for the whole family too, the more moderate ones at least.
Kimm Lusher
Fantastic State Park some of the best Trails I've hiked in in a long time
Morgan Zoeller
Hard to beat the beauty of this park in Indiana. Awesome getaway for a quick fall break trip. Trails vary from easy to rugged.
Wendy Yang
Prob the best hiking trails I found in Indiana
Rob Acton
Fantastic state park. Great trails and beautiful views. The lodge is nice with good but over priced food. The wait staff was really hit and miss as well. Overall though, a great place to visit and bring the family.
Brian McKee
I was last here about 20 years ago when I was about 7 years old. I remember it being amazing back then and I think I enjoyed it even more this time. I continually recommend people go here.
Paula Harvey
Great family fun. Read your map! Trail 3 was a blast! But..large dogs and infant children are not suggested. You actually have to climb ladders!
Angie Landrum
Nice park, trails in need of proper signage and need repairs and upkeep. Some closed without notice until you got to closure. Others closed due to downed trees.
GinaSueWho
Loads to explore and see!
The covered bridges are worth the hike and drive.
yy66yyZack Nicholas
Love the trails here. Compared to most of the northern half of Indiana this place is a while other world!
Tara Busch
Not just a summer destination! A must see in the snow, beautiful park with lots of cool water features. Make sure to wear good shoes as you walk through the water quite a lot. Had the whole place to ourselves in the the winter which was awesome, do not overlook this small gem!
Chris Brown
Omg if you haven't got the chance to visit this park definitely make it a summer trip. We have a great time every year we go. We float on the river and pop a couple cold ones. Great times
David Estes
Some awesome hiking trails and theres great tubing options down the creek. Decent inn and campsites as well!
Ty Schwartz
One of the most beautiful nature trails I have ever seen take very comfortable hiking shoes
James Duffy
Beautiful trails,park,and camping,
Trails from easy to difficult ,limestone rocks outcrops n creek beds offer challenging walks..
Chadwick Beiler
A great park to visit. Many options of things to do. Multiple trails, swimming pool, pavilions, playgrounds, visitor center, and more. We mainly hiked a trail(trail #3 but part of it was closed...a disappointment) and then had a picnic lunch.
Sagar Regmi
A great park for hiking!!
Beto Sierra
Great park!!!
We really enjoyed the trails #3 #5#9
Irene Deerwester
Amazing place with a very old formation of rocks... It's fun walking in a path with a watery rocks -its kinda exciting and fun
Jan Masterson
Our favorite park!
bookingMentor
Come to Turkey Run State Park to experience incredible scenic beauty. The park offers the chance to explore deep, sandstone ravines, walk along stands of aged forests, and enjoy the scenic views along Sugar Creek.
Nick Sleight
This park is a fantastic place with great hiking trails and some spectacular views in the canyons. There's plenty to do here including camping, kayaking and hiking. Some of the trails bring you down into these amazing canyons that are quite cool and can be fun/challenging to traverse. I would only recommend this park to people who can handle alot of rough terrain and narrow passages. You can bring your dog BUT I would not recommend it since the trails can be quite narrow and dangerous if you make a wrong step. Overall if you want to get a really cool experience in Indiana stop here and visit. It would also probably look the best in fall when the leaves are changing too.
Courtney D
Love this place! Been going here since I was little. So beautiful in the fall. Thank you Lord for creating such beauty.
Jessica Wickham
love turkey run state park!! it made for a beautiful background with our elopement!! we will be visiting for many years to come.
Cheryl Williams
The park is beautiful and the trails are fun to walk. A great way to spend an afternoon
Axeavier ?
It was great you can swim you can hike you can canoe it's only 7 dollars a car load unless your from out of state then it is 9 dollars
nick demetriades
Hadn't been in 20 yrs! Sugar Creek was crystal clear . Beautiful park.
Anthony New
Great trails. I enjoyed hiking the trails. Beautiful scenery. Would love to go again.
Matt Nielson
We really enjoyed our hike on loop 3. The ice box and the latters were really fun.
Sesara Renniks
Recommend for viewing fall foliage.. words cannot describe just how beautiful the park is in October.
May Ray scrubbie galz
People are nice beautiful scenery if you just want to do a trailer too you can rent a cab and I believe pet friendly was a little disappointed cuz I figured they'd be more than that other than just the trails and etc but really beautiful they do charge $9 for people that are not members and $7 that are members we weren't charged because we were just going to go look around I'm not sure what the charge was for telling you so that you could be prepared
Bil McLaughlin
We enjoyed a couples Valentine's weekend at Turkey Run Inn in Feb 2018. Great Buffett and accommodations. We even got in a couple of hikes.

My first time to Turkey Run State Park. It is a beautiful park. Had a great day hiking. Trails are very well marked. Very pet friendly!

This is #2 on my list of Indiana state parks! We make a yearly trip here with my kids. The trails are top notch. You walk through natural rock quarrys, covered bridge, a suspension bridge and much more. It has picnic areas as well as a swimming pool and camping! Great place for the fam!
Arita Gonzalez
I really live this place. Great hikes for all levels and great for animal and kids. I will definitely come back here again.

Beautiful sceneries fun place to take a family have to say that it is more of advanced hiking great for a work out for adults will make kids sleep on ride home lol some trails in park are a bit to advanced for young children so be careful on which trails to take nature center very informative on where to go again great family outdoor park has a pool picnic areas canoes and rafts for River floating

One of the best hiking trails with abundance of beautiful scenery.
Louis Villa (louvillian)
The landscape here is incredible. There are lots of trails so there is definitely enough to come back multiple times. The river is very pretty and is fun to kayak down. Would recommend visiting this park on a weekend with nice weather
Gabrielle Johnson (aquariam)
The trails were extremely interesting. The summertime experience hiking up and down the rugged areas was worth the hour and a half drive that my family made to get here. Will be back for more.

Best state park in Indiana! Incredible hiking trails and a wonderful Inn and campground.
eduardo Pineda
Love this park , we enjoy hiking here and we are going to do winter hiking this year! Can't wait
Wittle Wegs
Absolutely breathtaking views. The hiking was definitely worth the 3 hour drive. Wear good shoes and go after a rain for the best experience. My favorite state park around!
Christopher Allen
One of the best parks that Indiana has to offer. If your into a good scenery and a nice hike. It's a must stop
Murielle Bathory
Great hiking and running trails, especially early in the morning. Lots of wildlife to see if you're quiet.
Make sure to wear proper shoes. Flip flops, sandals, and heels are not a good idea. Strongly suggest you wear bug spray no matter the time of day.
Read the trail descriptions before starting out. Some are wheelchair and stroller friendly, but several are not.
Whatever you bring in, you take back out, so take a trash bag. They don't have trash cans. Don't litter.
Sarah Call Dodge
We had so much fun even only being there for one night! It was beautiful, clean, and easily accessible. Our dogs loved it, too 💜 …
Sylvia Parra Garcia
There is plenty of space here for families to gather and everyone is friendly. We love coming to gather with family and walk the trails.
Keith Stoneman
Hiked trails 3, 5, and 9 today. Was really cool hiking. I wish we had picked a less crowded weekend, but it's a great area to explore. Will hit more trails tomorrow.

Kiarash Torkian
Cute trails! It's very beautiful in fall with leaves falling. Many trails to choose from and all look to be appropriate for all ages.
Michelle Bush
Wonderful trails. The nature center is quite nice too and it has clean bathrooms. The campsites are a decent size. One site we put up 2 tents. There is a sign posted that says bathrooms are cleaned everyday between 230 and 330. We also did the sugar creek valley canoe trip. You may want to call ahead to make sure the water levels are safe. We had it perfect. Also, did the pool, for $3 a person its a nice way to cool off. They do a safety break at the top if the hour so plan accordingly. Wonderful time, lots of fun memories made.
Chris Davies
A really cool place to hike. Some of the trails cut through small canyon's and streams, so it would be a great place to cool off in the summer.
Melissa Akers
It was alright, kinda average as far as Italian food goes. If you order a salad with your meal, they don't have a wide selection of salad dressings...one they don't have is thousand Island. But it is a nice atmosphere.
Matthew Meizis
very rustic and scenic. nice trails. helpful staff. fills up fast on weekends
Brad Ruth
The greatest place for hiking and relaxing! Easy to very rugged trails are great. Horseback riding, swimming, canoe rentals right down the road too.
Laura Auer
This is my favorite park in all of Indiana. It has hard trails, covered bridges, rivers, waterfslls, canoeing, and you can camp or stay at the lodge.
Jan St John
Great place for hiking! Well marked and interesting trails. Variety of difficulty levels identified on park map. Some trails included creek beds, waterfalls and boulders! We really enjoyed challenging ourselves!
Alex Bennett
Managed to catch a glimpse of a flamingo and an alligator while visiting Turkey Run(see photos). Be sure to stop along the riverbank to skip some rocks, there are lots of flat ones that'll skip nearly all the way across.
Christopher Young
Just snowed so trail 4 and most of 3 were closed. The park was muddy. Today. It's only a couple days into spring. The one downfall is no trash cans. So be prepared to bring out any poop from your dogs. We took our pig he did well. The park is clean and very pretty. Lots of trails and many things to do.
Steal Bill
Experience we will not forget...
The Roost cabin is a one of a kind...
lily bird
One of the most gorgeous places in Indiana probably! Some of the trails were closed so that was a bummer but I know it was for a good reason

Great shelters equipped with fire pits and grills. Great hiking paths (there is more climbing than walking). Overall my family had a nice time with an Easter pitch in picnic.
Timmy Buck
I love the trails here. I usually go several times a year.
Lyne Budny
This was by far the best camping trip I've been on! It was a little confusing finding the camp site since it's a separate entrance than the State Park. But once we found it, we were in heaven! Super pretty and clean and the hiking is seriously AMAZING!!!!
Gerardo Velez
It has a great family friendly environment, it was pretty exciting just to admire what nature has to offer to us. Great cardio workout as well walking the trails.
Ralph Searing

Trail #3 is exciting! Be ready for water:) Beautiful park and great views! Came a long way from Chicago and it was worth it!😃 …
Bryan V Spellman
No better place to take a hike. I've camped here several times with the Boy Scouts and love these trails. Finally took the wife here during the Covered Bridge Festival. A nice stop, the bridge is easily accessable from outside the Park as well. Do yourself a favor and take the ride west of Indy and enjoy some of the best hiking around.
Michael Schiller
Turkey Run is always an awesome time. They have some great trails a d we always love the horseback riding!
Corbin Prows
Great place for a hike. We completed the Turkey Run Challenge. It was a great day. A little muddy from the rain but we were prepared.

Christie Merrill
Beautiful scenery, great trails, and plenty to do here.
Linda Wesseler
Wonderful hidden gem in Indiana, with deep rocky canyons full of loop trails of various degrees of ruggedness.
Kent Swartzendruber
I love the trails here. I took my daughter here for Father's Day and parked over by the suspension bridge. We walked by the restrooms on the way to the bridge and I asked her twice if she needed to go.
"Nope."
She was very clear on this matter.
I think you know how the rest of this story goes.. 😑
