Reviews of Spring Mill State Park
Adam Phillippe
Absolutely stunning family fun! We always enjoy going here and we can make a whole day of it. They gave a pioneer village with live actors. Many gift shops and an absolutely stunning inn. It is only 7 dollars per car to enter. There are so many picnic areas and they are scattered about so no one bothers any other visitors. They have designated areas. It was absolutely beautiful the day we went a couple weeks ago. This is an absolute must see in the fall.
Sailor Traub
What an excellent park!
Great hikes and fun caves. We are yet to experience the camping but we will be back.
When the water is low you can venture into some different caves that are usually closed off. We actually got to see the blind fish!
There is a guided tour but you need to schedule a place ahead of time. There are boat types of the caves and a guided caves hike.
There is always water in caves so dress your feet appropriately. I took a change of clothes to be safe.
Don’t forget a great head lamp or flashlight.
Samantha Duzinskas
What a beautiful park! We were visiting from out of state and this was definitely on the list to check out. I didn't realize how many things there was to do! Nature center, lake to kayak or fish, campground, 3 caves, hiking trails, museum, graveyard, and village. We only checked out the nature center and village but i definitely want to go back and check more out.
Jessica Karamanos
I hadn't been since I was a kid. It was very interesting and so beautiful. They host a few demonstrations, interact with the crowd and answer many questions. Just before you go into the village there is a large area for picnic, play, etc. Lots of beautiful trails, large restrooms, and a concession stand. Once you go into the village no dogs aloud. Each place has at least a few steps - 3 floors and many have narrow spaces, strollers or anything of the sort just won't work.
Melody Mitchell
We love spending the day at Spring Mill! One of the cleanest Indiana State parks that we have been to. The trails are well marked and clean. Lots of interesting things to see/read about along the way. The picnic area at the beginning of the Village is our favorite!
Cody Mathis
Loved this Park! The pioneer village and Inn was an amazing experience for our whole family. Restrooms were spacious and super clean. Easy access to caves and beautiful scenery. The Nature Center and Grissom Memorial are great additions to your trip. Only complaint would be gift shop item pricings as well as items not being priced at all. Other than that we had a very fun and awesome trip
Tony Panice
For the most part my time here was exceptional. Minor inconveniences caused the 4 stars. Trails are well kept, staff top of their game. But by far best part of my time here was a guided hike by Morgan(DNR) and speaking with Rona at the Pioneer Village. Their love of this park and history shows me just how special a place this truly is.
Shannon Lamb
Loved it! My parents and I have lived and camped in Indiana all our lives and never tried Spring Mill until this year. A lot of the sites can be difficult for tents due to inclines and stone, but there are still appropriate tent spots. The bathrooms are much cleaner than most campgrounds. Hiking and the pioneer village were beautiful. We went when the caves weren't open but would love to go back when they are open :)
Mike Brewer
Will need to go back and camp again. We camped for our first time on a cold rainy March weekend and still enjoyed ourselves. We rode our bikes to the pioneer village and had no ideal there was going to be so much to take in. Be sure to visit the Gus Grissom museum as well. A great place to to visit with a lot of things to see. Bring leveling blocks if you're camping, a lot of sites are not level.
Mark French
Best kept state park with lots to do for anyone. Stayed at campground. Clean and working facilities. Good check in process, efficient and knowledgeable staff people. Great hike bike loop to lake, nature center, pioneer village with old mill. Immersed in forest. See the full starry sky at night 🌠. Hike trails, MTB trail. Caves and boat rental seasonal.
Tammy Barkley
My family camped there over a weekend and wished we had more time to explore. There are lots of things to do while at the park...check out the museum, hiking, fishing, exploring the village and swimming (if the pool is open). The camp grounds were very clean. Plenty of nice bath houses available. There are several playgrounds. If you forgot something for camping it is probably available in the camp store. They have a large variety of items.
A (Hi)
We had an amazing time hiking trail #4. This trail is cool because it passes by Hamer cemetery and two different cave openings. It also leads to the pioneer village which was really neat. There's so much history there. We learned a lot and had an amazing time. The park is beautiful.
Brittney Davis
Been coming here over 20+ years and never get tired of this beautiful place! It is by far the best state Park in Indiana. There is so much beauty and history here. The village is amazing and so much knowledge of time past. The caves are on another level cool! So much this place has to offer and it grounds me every time I step foot here. Being connected with all of nature's beauty is something you don't wanna miss out on. Unplug.. and relax at SpringMill State Park 🏞️. You won't regret it!!!
Bryan M.
This is one of the most unique state parks in Indiana. The trails are a little intense. It also offers:
-Pioneer village with actors and some small shops.
-Pioneer cemetery
-Several caves including own you can take a boat tour through.
-Very nice campground with clean shower houses.
-Large nature center with activities.
Jeff Phillips
The Pioneer Village is excellent. Lots of working exhibits with very knowledgeable people who are there to answer your questions. Also, the Gus Grissom Memorial is worth a stop.
Paul Scott
First time there. Nice set ups and sites. Couldn't say much for the lake at the moment. Plenty to do. Will go back
David Eades
Nice campground with brand new shower house, Very neat pioneer village to tour, Gus Grissom memorial/museum to tour. Beginner mountain bike trail, alot of great hiking trails. More than enough to see and do in a weekend, will be going back
Jodi Crowe
My husband and I went here for our anniversary we camped went hiking and spend some time un the cave it was beautiful can't wait to do it again
Colin Bucki
Awesome caves and great green landscape. Trails are easy to moderate and offer plenty of great hiking!
Jeremiah Reising
We stayed at the Spring Mill Inn for a night last fall. The hiking was great, the Inn was very nice and the restaurant is pretty good. There is also a Gus Grissom Memorial Museum that is definitely worth checking out if you are a NASA fan, included with park admission. We'll definitely be going back.

SpringMill State Park
Is a beautiful Gem,
Tucked away in Mitchell Indiana.
Gus Grissom's memorial is there.
It's an absolute must see.
Wendy Whitaker
Just as fun, clean, and interesting as I remember from going when I was young. $9 for out of state vehicle and they take credit cards. Enjoyed the pioneer village, fun shallow creek all throughout, nice playground, clean bathrooms, easy quick walk behind village to the Hamer cave, enjoyed the Grissom memorial exhibit and nice gift shop.
Rhonda Huff
Spring Mill State Park is a 1,358-acre state park in the state of Indiana. The park is located to the south of Bloomington, about 3 miles east of the city of Mitchell on Indiana Highway 60. The park is located on the Mitchell Karst Plain, which allowed the park's caves and sinkholes to form in the limestone. The caves include Bronson Cave, Twin Caves, Shawnee Cave (Donaldson Cave), Hamer Cave, and others.
Wonderful walkways along a creek with benches
Water wheel was mesmerizing
Caves on the property to explore
With waterfalls
Christina Byford
I love Springmill and go there frequently. The water from the caves is always cold, the snakes have been bad this year so expect tons of snacks in the water. The village is always a nice feature but I love to walk to trails, they do get muddy if it has rained at all in the last week.
Jamie & Shayla Brown
Wonderful place. Nice trails. Well marked & clean. Very interesting history.
Jean Lucas
Great time at SMSP! We tent camped for 4 nights. The campground is well kept. The camp store is well stocked. Wood bundles a little expensive.
Chloe Turner
The drive there was a good rural country drive. once there the Staff at the main entry gate and at the campground entry gate were very pleasant and on point, truly wonderful.
we drove through looking for the Lodge and missed the left turn. Went through and around on one way loop. Found Restrooms at Donaldson Cave area and then spur of the moment went down toward Donaldson Cave. I walked down the lingering wooden slippery stairs to what appeared a creek and then walked on to the near of the cave opening. one lady walking down these wooden stairs wasn’t holding onto the provided handrail and fell down hard. guy in cowboy boots slipped too. this is normal wood lumber with imperfect levels of steps and wet surface from the rain. even a expert walker hiker i’m sure should hold onto the hand rails. once at the bottom of wood stairs it goes to a creek. going to the cave entry the creek bank was rocky and hard to finagle. rocks and uneven climbing and slippery. i went about half way toward the cave and then refused to continue as surface was just too dangerous for me. BE SUPER CAREFUL. ***If you do not have good health or stamina, do not attempt this excursion. The return walking back up the stairs was a nightmare!!!
Dave Harlan
This is a great state park. It’s on the small side, but is packed with caves, monuments, the pioneer village, and other fun stuff. It definitely has more attractions than most parks and some good hiking as well.
Kimberly Riggle
Really beautiful state park. I recommend checking out the mill and village. Very well maintained historical pioneer village with working mill. Take the time to walk up the gravel path to Hamer Cave, it’s a beautiful sight and welcome coolness in the summer heat. The trails we experienced were well maintained.
The primitive camping is primitive in that there is no electricity or flush toilets. There are water spigots every 5-6 camp sites. You’re very close to your neighbors, don’t expect much privacy in between sites. It is not “roughing it” by any means. There is a tree or two on most all of the sites. Relatively flat in most places. There’s a road that runs along the backside of the primitive sites on the other side of a tree line, but you will hear some traffic.
The Gus Grissom memorial is a nice look at his life and career, along with his tragic death. Small, but a nice stop none the less.
The camp store is well stocked with all of your basics including firewood and ice. The firewood wasn’t great though, it was damp and new wood, so it was very difficult to burn. However, with all the restrictions on bringing firewood in, especially from out of state, it’s almost the only “safe” option.
All of the employees we spoke to were very helpful and kind. The bathrooms throughout the park were well maintained. There was a large presence of DNR employees that were checking the park throughout the weekend.
Overall, we highly enjoyed our experience and would recommend the park for others.
Karl Taylor
I'd recommend checking out at least once if you can. Got a lot of good interesting stuff and areas. Beautiful caves, one you can walk in, and another you can ride a boat. Great hiking and camping areas. Very good buffet to eat.
Danita Halcomb
It was a wonderful time. Our family gets together at least once a year and tries to come here. There is alot of nice things to do and I just love the little village.
Tank Sheehan
One of my favorite parks to go to for wonderful clear rock bottom creeks, really nice trails, and must go to Pioneer Village and grist mill. Live it, love it, and going back.
Jim Roehm
I love this place! I have been coming here since I was a little boy, and have never failed to have a good time or feel refreshed!
Kim Arnold
Very cool park, we went cause the pioneer village is supposed to be haunted and also there is a cemetery and some caves! Haunted or not the place is very cool.
Kentucky Hills
My family had a great time here. The trails are well maintained, as well as the whole park. Pioneer village was very impressive, and very educational. Our only complaint was how fast vehicles were driving in the campgrounds, maybe there should be speed bumps or someone to enforce the speed limit. We were honestly worried about the kids possibly getting hit. Other than that, this place surprised me on how great it is. We will be returning.
Nicholas Klein
This place is pretty cool, both the Mills area that takes you back in time, as well as some of the trails and views outside of that. There is a very cool cave to explore as well!
Kayla Fehribach
Got to be there on a beautiful Day, flowers are bloomed everything was so green. The historical volunteers were very informative and very kind, I had a great time I can't wait to go back.
Marty McMann
This place is amazing. The old pioneer village is truly one of a kind with the big mill in the center of it. The hiking trails are amazing weaving through beautiful woods. The really unique part of this park is the caves. It has amazing cave system that you can explore.
Ron Tinsley
Enjoyable family fun and educational. The workers encourage you to ask questions, and demonstrate how things were done when the village was in full swing in it's time.
Bryce Miller
Great place with lots of space to walk. Great for younger children to explore as well as the adults. There are caves, pools, and amazing buildings to look at. When you get hungry just head up the road to the hotel and enjoy the food.
Lilia Perez
Such a pretty place! The only con is you can’t take your dog to the pioneer village and certain parts of the trail. I would recommend coming the the summer or fall when there’s people working the village like weaving, making pottery, or the blacksmith making items. It’s pretty during the winter but you won’t be able to see inside the buildings.
Wandering Mike
This was my first visit to the park. I checked out the pioneer village, trail 4, and a couple of caves. The trail system can be a little confusing in places, but they are nice and seem to be well maintained. Most of the elevation changes have steps or stairs which helps if you aren't as sure-footed as you used to be. They also have some nice picnic pavillions sprinkled around the park. I saw one with a really cool fireplace in it that appeared to be functional. I didn't make it to the Inn...maybe next time.
Ron Scott
Pioneer village is stunning. Garden an beautiful. Grounds are very well kept. Buildings are awesome. Very very nice example if early American culture and living style and conditions. Beautiful park. Hope to go back and see other attractions. Give yourself a couple hours at village and go during active hours while mill is in operation and period dressed individuals are there.
Alexis Klimek
I absolutely loved this park! The trails can be long, we took trail 3 the longest one. The caves we could see were amazing, we actually went in one. It’s truly fascinating that even on 80°+ days that it was still freezing cold in the caves. There are beautiful views all over. There was so much to explore. The bathrooms are typical outdoor bathrooms. If you haven’t been here definitely try it out, best day to go is Saturday’s for their boat ride in one of the caves. Admission is cheap and Indiana residents get a discount. Hiking boots are definitely recommended, something with traction. Overall a must see.
Laura Yoder
Very clean very friendly staff. This has been the place our kids have grown up in for 25 years for our family vacations. Trails as are well groomed as are the campsites (primitive) and the picnic areas. I did not see any poison ivy overgrowing any walkways.
Heather Ison
Very nice well kept park. The trails are very well marked. Nice Olympic sized pool across from the campground that my kids loved. The pioneer village was a walk back in time for sure. The twin cave boat tour was a nice experience. The campground is very large. The shower houses were definitely in need of updating.
Laura Tetrick
It was a beautiful day so there were quite a few families out walking, but plenty of room! This place is so well maintained that I wasn't worried about my somewhat klutzy 8 year old. My 10 year old is already talking about coming back.
Fr Michael Walker
Good rooms and lobby area at the Inn! Good pool and other areas. Beautiful park and surrounding areas! Love it and will return many times as God allows!
Lester Burris
This is such a nice park. There are so many nice trails to hike, walk, or run. There is so much change in the scenery depending the season. The Gus Grissom memorial also has a lot of cool things to look through.
Tim Aston
We have been to Spring Mill a few times now. There is a lot to explore. We will visit again soon I am sure. They offer craftsman talks and demonstrations in the village, lots of hikes, fishing and canoeing at the lake and more.
Virginia Skaggs
By far the cleanest State park I have ever been to. The Pioneer Village is very well restored and beautiful. I am so glad we visited. I would totally return and will definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Benjamin Judah
Great state park to explore. Plenty of trail to hike. There are caves with guided tours. The historic pioneer village was also worth checking out. I highly recommend you check out this park!
Jeannine Winters
This was a nice, clean state park. The limestone was evident along the roads. The limestone inn was well maintained and beautiful. It was fun swimming in the treetops in the indoor/outdoor pool. The reason I only gave it four stars is I would have expected more free amenities for the high price of the room. They had free small towels at the pool and free coffee and hot tea. We had to pay admission to the park to get to the inn initially, which increased the price of the stay. The rooms were clean, but had no extras, which would be more like a room for less than a hundred dollars a night.
Joseph Gore Jr.
Spring Mill State Park has the best and the worst. The fact is that the inn is a wonderful old building but desperately needs an upgrade. It is indeed threadbare and the rooms show it.
The park itself is the best Indiana has to offer in the way of attractions. Even though I visited late in the year (November) and there were no re-enactors at the pioneer village or the mill, it was still great to walk around the old village, inspecting the old buildings and the surroundings. There's also the Virgil I. (Gus) Grissom Memorial, the centerpiece of which is "Molly Brown" which was the Gemini spacecraft piloted by Grissom. How many state parks have a spacecraft in them? It's a small, but excellent memorial and museum with a short video in the in-house theater.
The inn desperately needs upgraded and remodeled rooms with new carpet, chairs, etc. The inn restaurant is good and there is an indoor pool and hot tub with a game room downstairs. The trails are quite good, but tends to be short since this is one of the smallest in acreage of Indiana's parks. There is a handicapped-accessible trail behind the Grissom Memorial which is paved and has no steep climbs or descents. There is also an easy-moderate trail that goes around the lake. The nature center is tiny and, besides a friendly snapping turtle (you'll find out for yourself!), it has very little in it. This also needs an upgrade and expansion.
I enjoyed my stay and, if I was disappointed, it was because our state has neglected the park rather than the employees working there. It's a wonderful park and well worth a few days for the so inclined.
Joe DeFur
Very nice place. Me and wife hiked 2 trails day after a lot of rain. W knew it would be wet but was very muddy and slick, saw one woman fall down slick steps. Trails views were beautiful just use caution when slick.
David Gilmore
Awesome park. We camped there (tent) for 8 days. They had added new gravel to campsite pads. Should have taken new pictures at that time because now some of the sites are not conducive to tents. Our site 62 was lengthened by about 5 feet. That is the area a tent would have fit in. We ended up fitting our tent around 3 trees. Not ideal but, we made it work. The showers leave a little to be desired. Wish all the showers we're set up like the handicap stall. I like my privacy. Good trails, village, nature center. My wife liked the cave tour. My comment I'M not dead yet so I do not need to be underground yet.
lana shauver
Have always LOVED Spring Mill. Decided to camp for a few days. It was excellent except for one thing. When you want quiet and peacefulness it can be a little rough to find in the campgrounds. Between dogs barking and parents screaming at their screaming and crying children. Hopefully next time people will be a little more considerate of the rest of the happy campers out there and stop with all the fussing. Outside of that, it's perfect.
Leslie Krock
One of our favorite State parks that we've visited! So many beautiful things to see from the hiking trails, caves, Hamer Cemetery and the Spring Mill village. I hope we're able to come back every year!
Jeremy Gregory
This is probably my favorite state park in the entire state. The hiking and views would be well worth the trip on their own, but add in the bed and breakfast, explorable caves, the Gus Grissom Museum, and the pioneer village that you can completely explore every inch of and this place cannot be missed if you're a fan of state parks. There may be parks around the state with better and more organized events throughout the year, but nothing compares to walking around and discovering everything in Spring Mill.
Sarah K
Great stay right on the trails. The inn is in the state park. You literally walk into caves right off the trails at your own risky, go as far as you want. Bring good flashlights and other equipment.
If you need a laundromat, if you slide down a mud hill like we did, there is one in a neighboring town near buy and a grocery store and dollar general for other needs.
Will eventually come back!
Steve Brown
Very nice state park. Some of the campsites are not the best as far as level or getting into. If you want to take the cave tour make sure to get there early or sign up early to reserve a spot.
The village and Gus Grissom museum were bonuses.
Justin Webb
Great park with a nice variety of things to do. The Pioneer Village was a favorite of mine. Also being an Amature photographer, of landscapes in particular, this made for quite the enjoyable day.
Jerri Goldenberg
It may be fall without the mill turning but it was one of the most beautiful places I've seen. The Inn is so cozy and the old town of buildings was amazing. Can't wait to go back in the spring.
Charity Dent
Visiting Spring Mill State Park is always wonderful. It IS a beautiful place! But today there was a Civil War reenactment and it was reall great. Especially the cannons!!
PAN'S CENTRAL EXPRESS presents (Skipping to the Flute)
A wonderful place to go for caves nature and water falls. Wild life every where. We saw a young coon who came to our grill fire and stood about 15 feet away while we ate.
Carrie McCullough
Beautiful park with so many things to see and do. Clean campground with okay comfort stations. They are fine, but not as updated as some of the other state parks. There are spigots for every 2 sites, which is really nice! Some cool things to see are all the caves, Grissom Memorial, Pioneer Village, and a still-operating 1880s grist mill, to speak nothing of the several trails available. One of the best Indiana State parks for families who like to stay busy!
Kallie Gambill
This park is very family orientated and affordable. You can really make the most out of your day. Be prepared to walk a lot!
Sean Cox
Great park for the family. So much to do here. Hiking, camping, swimming. The Pioneer Village is really neat. There is a working gristmill that actually produces cornmeal. The candlelight tour in the fall is very nice. The local Tri Kappa hosts the weekend. Everyone working is dressed in period clothing.
The Inn is very clean and has a nice buffet to eat at. The rooms are very clean.
There is a Gus Grissom memorial, where you can see his actual flightsuits, and his spaceship.
Joe Harvie
This is a beautiful place to bring you family for a little taste of history and nature. The trials and caves are fun to hike and explore. If your interested in history the pioneer village can teach you about the original settlement and traditions they used to have. If your ever in the area I would highly suggest visiting. They do have a small entry fee (it cost my family 7 dollars) but it's well worth it.
Krisy M
This state park has a little something for everyone! Choose to run, hike, walk, or peddle around the park on various scenic paths. The lake is great for fishing and individual non-motorized boat activities. The hotel is conveniently located not far off the center path so you can recharge before continuing your cross-park activities. Be sure to bring plenty of deet bug spray to fin off the massive population of Asian tiger mosquitoes know for their daytime feasting and preference for perspiring mammals. I was attacked by at least ten or 12 of them on my run. Overall it is worth the trip and extra deet.
C S
Loved Spring Mill. We primitive camped, hiked, visited the pioneer village, visited the little museum and fished. They have caves and a swimming pool. We plan on coming back in the summer to swim and explore the caves.
kehively
Beautiful woodlands park. Enjoyed the Pioneer Village. Nice campground, though water conns needed a 2nd hose.
Jon Scott
One of our top 2 state parks. The hiking was great, facilities were clean and the camping sites were great. My only recommendation is if the description says slopped spot, skip that site - the slopped sites would be impossible to camp on. Love it
Jennifer Bush
Me and my husband went by ourselves.(no kids or grandkids). It was amazing. We saw 2 deer both of them why we were in the truck. It was my first time there and we are already planning on going back. Be ready for a lot of walking to truly enjoy yourself. The caves are awesome.
Marie Waltman
We have a family reunion there and it's great for big crowds and going to look at historical places also there trails love them
Alexis Rosenwinkel (Lexi)
Best staff there. I had a lot of fun and brought my dog with. Very good experience.
Rocky Cummings
Haven't been here for years. A very nice and clean park. Has a lot for everyone.
Tatyana Fedorikhina
Really great for history buffs and families with children. The trails were muddy after the rain, so we did not hike. We had lunch on the patio of the inn. They are planning a major renovation there since the air-conditioning is not working properly.
Carla Hart
This has been a favorite family get away for at least 3 generations. Comfortable Inn with fireplace, indoor/outdoor pool, game room, and restaurant. There are trails to walk, historic working village in season. Also nearby Grissom memorial.
Jessica Turpin (Jess)
Had a really great time here with the kids over the weekend. Hadn't been 2Springmill in a really long time. Esp. walking around the village area & going into ea. of the houses where the kids got 2listen 2all of the stories about the history of ea.1 of the houses in the village & were the same one's I heard as a kid. I just wish that all the things I enjoyed as a kid were still there 4my children 2enjoy so much of the thing's they had open or viewable &2do when I was younger is totally gone or has been long closed.🥺☹️ Still a very quaint & beautiful place 2spend some quality family time 2gether. As it doesn't have any📱service down in the village area. Which allows everyone 2be fully present while spending time w/ each other. 💖💕
Ellyn Pruitt
We camped here for two nights. Spot 007 is a nice one! We had a lounger and a hammock and had a nice spot to hang both. We hiked Trail 4. From trail 4 you can hit the Donaldson Cave, an AMAZING creek, the Poineer Village, a Memorial, and the Hamer Cemetery. We visited all these spots. We also visted the Nature Center. It was a lovely wekend for us!
Stephen Francia
Beautiful and serene space. There is a lake, waterfall, trails, memorial/museum and living history area as well as other great things to experience in this park! Go and enjoy!
Wendy Hedlund
I loved the cave boat ride and the trails to the other caves. I really enjoyed the Persimmon Festival at Spring Mill. They also had A candlelight tour. 100's come here around the 22 or 23rd of September each year. Good food and history learned.
Sandy Hicks
Loved this park! Campground was very nice with secluded spots. Lots of trees and shade. Close to the outdoor pool. We visited the Pioneer Village which is a great learning experience. Make sure to hike back to the waterfall close to the Pioneer Village it's like stepping into a cooler. The Lodges great and the camp store is very nice. It's a must see Park.
Sid3ScopeZ5
It is the best state park ever because it's not huge and not as linted areas you can explore how you want
Al H
Very nice state park
Rwcomend checking out the Donaldson cave while visiting. Especially on a hot summer day. Warning. If you walk down the stairs ,remember you have to walk up them
melissa backherms
I had the most wonderful wedding experience. From Amanda making sure I had everything I needed and Remy seeing my special day through...I can't thank them enough!!

Huge State Park with attractive campground. The park schedules dozens of family-friendly activities throughout the summer camping season.
Pros: Massive and mostly woodsy campground. CG has several loops with 124-E-Only sites and 7-E/W/S sites. Sites are mostly well-spaced. Most sites with canopy of tall shade trees. Well-maintained restroom/shower facilities. Water spigots within the campground and at the entrance station. Two-lane dump station at Parks entrance. Pets on leash allowed. Lots of trails to walk.
Cons: Most sites will accommodate RVs up to 30ft. Suggest Big Rig RVers use the Parks registration website to verify that the site selected has a parking pad that will accommodate an RV over 30ft. All but 7 sites with No water and No sewer service. No laundry facilities. No Park WiFi. At our site, Verizon cell and hotspot 0 or 1-bar; OTA TV 5 flickering channels; Satellite access blocked by tall shade trees.
Would We Return: Yes and ore often when Cell Service is available. We liked (loved) the Park and its Campground; however, the campgrounds lack of access to internet service (WiFi or Hotspot) will prevent many from returning.
Amenities Listed on Parks Website: Back-In and Pull-Thru Sites; 124-E-Only sites and 7-E/W/S sites; Potable Water Spigots; Restroom with Showers; Dump Station; Picnic Shelter; Pool; Playground; Fishing; Biking; Outdoor Tennis Courts; Camp Store; Miles of Hiking Trails; Living History Village. We camped at Spring Mill State Park in a Travel Trailer.
Kyla Dowell
Top Indiana State park, but really needs to improve internet options. Hiking, biking, camping, and pioneer village are a step above state parks in other states.
Ryan Savage
Absolutely love this park. Friendly staff, clean campgrounds, lots of awesome stuff to do and see. Even with a week staying on site we couldn't see everything. The caves are a must, especially on a hot day.
Julie Ashbaugh
We had a beautiful three day women's outing. We did every trail except for Stagecoach
Robby Fincher
Always love coming here, this place is very well maintained, only costs $7.00 for residents to get in and hike and enjoy the spectacular views
Kevin Kenny
Mill in pioneer village was not operational. Overall park was in good repair. Gus Grissom memorial was under repair, yet still an outstanding memorial.
Chad Super
Had an amazing time with the family!! Enjoyed the creek and caves, got wet and still had a blast! I highly recommend this park for anyone that has children and like the outdoors.
Mel Shanks
Love this Park, there are so much to see and do. The kids enjoy camping and exploring the caves.
Stephen Burkhart
Really nice state park. The village is a must visit, the mill isn't working yet but they are still selling the corn meal in the mercantile.
Michael Dowden
This park is a family favorite, from staying at the inn and dining at the delicious restaurant to hiking the trails and exploring the village. Within easy reach of a number of caves, French Lick, Hoosier National Forest, and more! Definitely a great vacation destination in southern Indiana.
Michael Bailey
Beautiful park with plenty of trails to the various caves, camping, and the pioneer village which is a must see.
Jeffrey LeFors
I was only here for a few hours but I can't wait to bring my wofe and child here, especially when it warms up a bit. It was a wintery cold day when I was there, but it was beautiful nonetheless.
My friends who spent time there said the trails sre beautiful and the pioneer town is really something to see. The Springmill Inn is just the place to have a mini vacation for the weekend.
Matt Hicks
Really nice park. Many trails to explore. Pioneer village was interesting & educational.
Kathy Beasley
It was a little too hot but the park has something for everyone. A great place to take the grandkids for camping.
C Norris
I live in Missouri but this has become one of my favorite places to hike and explore. I LOVE the Village.
David Knierim
Great park where you get to experience both history and the outdoors!
Brent R.
What an amazing place. Fall colors and smells. I have to come back and stay a few days next time.
Carly Finegan
What an amazing state park! I came on a day trip for a University course field trip and we were able to get a private tour with the Park Naturalist, Sherri. She was so knowledgeable about the park, the caves, the invasive species, and the history. It was wonderful to see the various springs and caves - I think Spring Mill deserves to be a national park!
Gregory Gunnell
I’ve been coming to this place since a young kid. Many great memories and it’s one of my favorite getaways.

The entire family enjoyed splashing in the spring and watching the mill work. During the season they have people working and and answering questions, off season it's a beautiful place to walk and explore. We visit every time we come to Indiana.

Great trails, great place for nature and beauty
Marcus Lambert
I've been visiting Spring Mill since I was a kid. Pioneer Village is where one can step back in time. It's truly peaceful and mesmerizing. The activities here are great as they demonstrate different things people did back in the 1800s; unbelievable!
Indiana Michelle
Spring Mill Village is one of the best historical spots I’ve been to. A walk back in time that feels like you’ve discovered a hidden village frozen in time. There are many old cabins around the Mill village that are a must to visit, as well as creeks, caves, historic cemetery, and beautiful topography all through the park for picnics and hiking. Lots of enjoyment to be had here, especially if you enjoy nature and history. A must see in Southern Indiana!
Rhonda Mundy
Awesome place to stay! Everyone was so pleasant and courteous!! ❤🌹🖤🌹❤🌹🖤🌹 …
Ashley Woodyard
It is very beautiful. There are so many things to do.
Karen Boruff
Loved our first day hike!! Thank you for finding a way to offer it while promoting social distancing at the same time!
Christi McI
Great place for a full day of beauty and adventure! Will definitely visit again!
Rara Avis
Perfect place to spend the day! Don't forget your picnic!
Doug Boyd
So many things to do here from the pioneer village, to canoeing, to a fine tennis court. Great place to get away.
Doug Choban
Sadly it was a sad sprinkle day. Just enough to hamper all the wandering around I had planned. The wedding I went for went great! I’ll be back for another visit soon.
Chris Sanderlin
We stayed there several days during spring, enjoyed the park. I appreciated the staff also. These days, whenever I see people doing their job to the best of their ability, honestly, and with any amount of kindness I’m always thankful!
Thank you Indiana DNR
Patrick Siney
Really nice stay at the Hotel. We loved the great room and fireplace. This state park has 4 caves on the property. We also took a night hike around the like. What a great time.
Aaron Koehler
Beautiful state park with lots of history around it.
Mike Martin
Awesome place for family reunions. You can also stay at the lodge.
Jesse Godsey
Took the kids down to the village and talked about the pioneer days. Weather was great! Had a fun time!
wayne howard
Always Pleasurable to spread your arms and take in some of our Lords Blessings. Great place to visit
Matthew McClure
The mill works! We visited on a Saturday and they ran the mill every hour on the hour.
Elizabeth Coker
Great place to visit. A lot of shade, a pioneer village, and plenty to do for everyone!!
Nicole Lynn
We spent a night camping and a day exploring and didn't begin to even scratch the surface. My phone died half way through our hike but it was an absolutely beautiful park. Would recommend taking a mini-family vacay there for sure! Place was very clean and prices were quite reasonable!
Terri Lyn Layman
It's got lots to offer. Stuff for history lovers, space geeks, and those who love nature.
Jessica Everitt
I can not get enough of this place if u havent been get the family together and go beautiful ❤
Bryon Wingfield
Park is awesome. Unfortunately Pioneer Village was closed for the season, so none of the buildings were accessible except the two bathrooms. The bathroom facility at the Donaldson Cave parking area was not open. Sadly, the restaurant at the Inn no longer has the buffet (except for special occasions), but choices on the new menu were abundant and looked delicious. None of the three Inn fireplaces were operational when we were there, in spite of the outside temperature being in the 40s. The park's fall foliage was absolutely gorgeous.
Avi Mckim
Me being a history freak this is my happy place. Every time I go I will dress up in pioneer dresses and skirts to be apart of the scenery. BEST PLACE EVER!!!!
Holly Anderson
Beautiful scenery, friendly staff, amazing history, intriguing trails/ cave, and so much more! If you’re ever wanting to experience some summer fun, Spring Mill is the place to go.
Brenda Haney
We took a group to the cave tour and lucked out on the Grissom memorial day getting to build and launch a rocket! Great fun and company!!!
Karen E Laine
We camped in the primitive camping area. It is well maintained and quiet. I would love to see a tree planting program to create more shade. The village area is educational, well signposted and easily walkable for people of average ability. People with mobility or visual impairment will be frustrated, but it is the nature of structures from the 1800s. We hiked several trails and found them well signposted and well maintained. Not necessarily flat and smooth in all places sue to the nature of the terrain (hilly, rocky, tree roots, drainage from higher elevations).
Scallywag Design LLC
Very fun. Nice history lesson. Don't forget your flashlight!
Carisa Lynn
We just left after a GREAT wknd! We all had a blast! Only negative is the showers could use a good scrub. . We'll be back
Antoinette Thornton
Awesome trails, wonderful historical buildings, working mill that you can buy fresh ground corn meal from. Beautiful nature all around.
Steve Berg
Beautiful this time of year. Great for a walk and a step back in time.
Preston Blake
A lot of the logs in the buildings are breaking down due to poor care. The three people in the village gave no history at all, way different than thirty years ago.
670 XC
Beautiful park. I really like the pioneer village
HeyPeeps ImLizzie
Beautiful place with lots of hiking trails and places to explore.
Eric the Nomad
This is one of the smallest but nicest of the Indiana State Parks. Beautiful hikes. The working village was fun for the family. There is quite a bit to see and do! We went for a day trip, but would return for some RV camping next time!
Wyatt Brown
Great place, great scenery, great people, great for kids, loved the village, nice pool, nice camping, cool space shuttle
Courtney Palmer
This is an absolutely beautiful state park that is deff worth the time and drive to be able to experience & appreciate some historical houses along with the displays that allow you to learn some interesting info about items and medicine that were used throughout history. I use to go on field trips to this park once a year in elementary & middle school so it was really fascinating to be able to go see the park 20 years later from an adult aspect just to realize all the things I overlooked when I was younger!
Drake Brown
it really is a nice spot to wind down and enjoy nature
Emily
Staff is great. Location is exceptional. Parking is easy. Internet ....tedious. Inn rooms dated. Beds need to be upgraded. Carpet needs to be replaced. Stained and smelly. Restaurant is amazing. They have specials though they don't advertise it. Ask.
Historic buildings are incredible.
Prices for lodging isn't indicative of dated features.
Shelby Mays
One of our favorite state parks! We love the village and creek. There are a few nice hiking trails as well- don’t miss out on a Slush Puppy (spelling?) at the concession on the way to the village! Have fun!
Joe Eaton
Very nice state park, plenty to do for everyone. The campgrounds was a great place to stay with spacious camp sites. Staff was very friendly. Free wifi at capstone. Pioneer Village is a neat little town inside the park.
Samantha Schutz
Lots to do. I had a great time with my family.
Heather Agan
Beautiful! Worth the time to take in nature!
ashly nance
Amazing love you dont have singal makes the kids love the outdoors
Mersi Curtsinger
I grew up going here. It's a beautiful place that's full of history.
Nate Alex
Great park for a tourist destination! The trails are general and we'll maintained. If you are there for a hike do the trails that are not mingled with the village. Campground is well loved. No wifi or cell signal.
Andrew Nelle
This is a great place to visit and explore! The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the Inn itself really needs renovations. As far as convenience goes, the Inn is the best location, its located right inside the state park just a few minutes from all the attractions. The Inn has a restaurant and a pool, great places to sit outside with fire pits.
The caves on property are a lot of fun, you can venture into most of them. Pioneer Village is probably the best part of the park. Just a beautiful wonderful historic place, with live actors and Abe Lincoln speech. Again, back to the Inn, it just needs a facelift. It needs new carpet, the beds are like concrete slabs. Other than the needed renovations, this place was great. The staff is very nice and accommodating. I do recommend this spot!👍🇺🇸😎
Kim Crump
Spring Mill is a beautiful nature place to visit, camp out or stay at the INN. The pioneer village is a great place to visit. The ppl that dress and work in the village are knowledgeable of the talents like wood work, pottery, candle making and love talking and sharing with others. They have events throughout the year. Great for picnics by a creek that flow out of the caves. I've been going with my family for reunions for many years. Love this place
Jessica Hollingsworth
Go on a cool day. Beautiful location that really takes you back in time.
Linda E
Lots of historical buildings with docents available in several. Can buy corn meal ground at the mill.
Trails for a variety of hiking options. Can drive around the park although you'd miss a lot by only doing that.
The Inn has good food - try the fried biscuits and apple butter for a dessert choice. Rooms are older. Remodeling going on. Don't expect 5 stars. Warmed indoor/outdoor pool.
Kayla Snyder
Super great park with TONS of things to do!
Tom Miller
Always enjoy this State Park. Very nice campground.
Cathy Fleming
Great state park and great campground. Need to fill in some holes near campsites, because when it rains. And it did. Mud puddles to near some campsites. That would be an easy fix. Also could work on leveling some of the camp spots. Some very uneven, hard for a big camper. But we had a great week.
Ethan Fletcher
Spring Mill State Park is one of my favorite small state parks. The caves are a unique and exciting spot to venture. On a hot summer day, it is exceptionally cooling to hike down into the caves.
The Spring Mill Village is unique and full of rich history. If you have the opportunity to watch the Mill run it's worth it.
Tay Rae
Very good place for family reunions and go hiking, and just walking around in general. Their building are very fun to walk in and around. The windmill is my favorite thing to see. Their candy shop is really cute and sells candy, toys, some jewelry and a few other things. They even have a little shop where you can buy ice cream and drinks and some snacks
Chris Bellis
Great weekend getaway, with lots of fun hiking.
Lorrie Eads
The lodge is in need of renovations, including new beds. But it is on the schedule, I heard, for this year 2022. The park is pretty in nature. And offers pool.
Heather C.
Beautiful place..stayed in the hotel, as did other family members,in the pet friendly area. Our room was fine but my father in laws room had no working air conditioning, and no working dehumidifier, my sister in laws room was the same. They had to go out and buy fans to even be remotely comfortable. Enjoyed hiking through the woods, and the spring mill village. The park itself is a 5 star experience for me, the hotel, was a 2 star experience. So I would say definitely visit the park, try to find somewhere else to stay.
coolgamer560 me
We had a great time with our family fishing
BoydDaniel Fitzgerald
Awesome village with a lot of history. Great place to hike. The inn has a nice restaurant and good food.
Matt Hopkins
I've lived in Mitchell as long as I can remember. It's nice to see at least one spot in town hasn't gone to hell. This park is always so pretty. Its kept clean. Everytime I'm down there (3 times a week in the summer) I always see an employee walking the trails collecting trash. The pioneer village is a must see if you like historical recreations.
Jennifer Tilford
Great park and historic site. The restaurant also had great food.
Eric Fromme
Always a great place to come to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city! Beautiful scenery and very well kept!
Edit for June, 2022: Utilized the swimming pool facilities and they were not crowded at all. Clean and well maintained site, and astute lifeguards that are very adherent to the posted rules. Call ahead for availability.
Dawn Christner
Beautiful place with nice trails. Went camping for a week. Only problem I had was dogs. You go to enjoy the scenery and have fun camping but the dogs in both camp areas barked nonstop and people yelling at the dogs nonstop. I would probably come back when it has less people or off season.
Valerie Ellis
Love this place fun educational and great exercise
Gary Jump
Park is nice. But it has went downhill. Restrooms need updated. Campsites need cleaned up. So many dead trees. Old dead growth needs removed. Trash left in fire pits. We are talking millions in funds. Which is tough to get!! We stayed in 006. Still had a good time.
Fred Stark
Cool water on a hot day. Not many people visiting today
Chris Disbro
Excellent park. The village is always a fun stop with the kids. Plenty of great hiking trails and a couple of caves you can explore as well.
The campground is nice and appeared to be well maintained. It doesn't offer the most secluded spots, but its still nice.
Elizabeth Stewart
Such a beautiful and unique state park! The park is absolutely worth the drive, and the history and preservation has been handled so well. This is by far the best I've ever been to.
Lacy Snider (LacyRayAnne)
This park is beautiful and has something for everyone. There are caves, Hiking trails, great picnicking spots, and even a pioneer village!
In the village there are historical demonstrations of blacksmithing, pottery, and a water wheel run sawmill and corn mill. (which you can buy corn meal from after watching them grind it! Kids get really excited about that and its hilarious to see a kids lined up to buy corn meal!) The village is full of buildings moved that have either stood there since the pioneer days (like the saw mill) and building that were moved there from other areas in the 30's that are from the pioneer era. Those building are furnished with era appropriate furnishings that pretty accurately show how people lived at the time both well of and poor.
Just outside of the Pioneer village is a huge open picnicking area next to a stream you can play in! and there is a small concessions stand that is open part of the year that has popsicles, drinks, and soft pretzels.
Debbie Hanson
We're staying at the Spring Mill Inn. It's off season. The inn looks tired and in need of an updated look. The restaurant is so so. I had to return a meal, and I never do that. The 2 fireplaces are nice, as is the pool.
Stephen Linn
Great time camping enjoyed the trails and caves
Sue Patterson
Food was good and there was plenty of it. They have same issues as other restaurants...not enough staff. I left a good tip and hope others did too. The waitress was hustling to take care of everyone.
Maureen Kipp
Wonderful hiking, Inn is very comfortable with a great indoor outdoor pool, food mediocre, trail maps need to be more precise. Want to see the old growth forest and Donaldson Cave next time. Pioneer Village is crazy great and when the Mill is open....the best ground cornmeal there is.
Joey Biondi
Open till 11pm but if you want to be able to go inside anything go before 5. Very beautiful place regardless. Will be back earlier in the day next time
Deloris Thompson
Absolutely hands down one of my favorite parks in Indiana.
Tanya Fenimore
Beautiful place to go. But if you want to hike the trails leave the stroller behind
Bruce Andis
Trail 5, around the lake, is an easy hike for people in moderate physical condition. Much quieter and less crowded than the Pioneer Village, located to the west of the lake.
Brittnay York
Always have a great time! My son loves going & playing in the creek. We also take our inflatable raft out to the lake & have a wonderful time. Would definitely suggest this to everyone go visit at least once. I promise you will go back.
Jeffrey Williams
They have great camp grounds and trails.
Samantha Summers
Very fun. The hiking trails are beautiful and each are different levels. Some harder than others. Pioneer village is amazing. Getting to talk through the small village businesses and homes is a one of a kind experience. We love it here.
Duane Weber
Great place to bring a family. Really enjoyed the"actors" and what they bring to the park
Andrew Houlne
Well presented historical site with hiking and caves.
Tammy Duke
Great place to check out for all ages. Are dog pet friendly tho .
Ashlie Pool
A charming state park. We stayed at the Inn, kids loved the pool and I loved that the water was warm! We strolled through pioneer village, I loved stepping back in time. What a beautiful place and very informative. Don't forget to stop by the Gus Grissom Memorial at the park entrance. I learned a lot about early space exploration and my kids found it neat as well. Great state park, I wish we had more time to hike more trails and explore the various caves, but there will be a next time!
Dawn Wells
We love coming here as a family... Our children spend the entire day exploring and having fun!
Doris Bolden
Beautiful park, friendly staff and lots of things to see, highly recommend this park. Be sure to take the boat cave tour, it's only $3.
Steve Dickey
Spring Mill State park is an awesome place to spend the day, great for families of all ages. There is a pioneer village which offers a look at the past. You can shop at the general store and even purchase cornmeal that was grounded on site at the old mill. There were plenty of picnic tables on the grounds with grills near by. Big shelters were available for bigger groups. Bathrooms were clean and well put together. Plenty of trials for hikers of all skills. My family personally enjoyed the beautiful creek and the waterfalls. There is also an Inn inside the park with a restaurant if picnics aren't your thing. They have a small gift shop and a pool available for guests.
Deborah Buckley
Beautiful state park. We camped during the week. Very private an nice camping sites with alotta trees.
The Village was interesting an the hiking to the caves was very beautiful.
Chris Modlin
Love going there each year. Enjoyed the village & hiking trails. Can't wait to go back when twins caves boat ride is running again.
Pegi Bricker
Wonderful time! Sorry we didn't get to walk through the Pioneer Village, as we brought our little dog and pets were prohibited. I understand why, and it is our fault for not checking first about this matter. So be warned pets rightly are not allowed in the village. I was extremely pleased to be able to get stone ground cornmeal while $4 for two pounds was a tad pricey, this cornmeal is superb. We are so happy to be out walking trails, picnicking, and meeting new people. A Truly GLORIOUS Day!👵👴🐕😍🐾🌳🌼🌞
Mindy Wilkinson
The Pioneer Village, the caves, and the trails all were fantastic.
Robert Guratzsch
Fantastic historical experience 👏 👌 👍 🥃🥃🥃
Loved the distillery! …
Matt Ritter
Spring Mill is a great park. Several great trails with caverns and caves as well as historic sites. The pioneer village is a representation of the area in the 19th century and is fun to visit any time if the year. They do offer tours in the fall and have people reenacting in various shops and homes. There are several shelter houses for gatherings and picnic tables for a simple family picnic. There is also a small lake for fishing.
Kelley Norris
Great place for the kids to play, and the adults to catch up!!!
T Darby
Love the old grist mill and the pioneer village. Several trails for hiking.
Lyra Moore
Really fun. Lots to do. The Pioneer Village was very interesting and we loved exploring the caves. Next time we will probably hike the trails. Well worth the visit. Happy Father's Day
jeffery kinnaird
I loved it fantastic place to visit.
Jill Stanley
So we stopped on a whim, and are SO glad we did! This place is beautiful. We got to see the old mill run and even bought the ground corn that we saw milled! The staff doing the re-enactments were so friendly. The buildings are fascinating and the butterfly garden was full of colors and butterflies. There is a nice picnic area to eat lunch if so desired.
James “WhoDat!” White
What a great place to camp and hike. One of our favorite places in southern Indiana
Don Cranfill
One of Indiana’s premier state parks. The inn is a very nice place to stay while visiting. I have stayed there for weekends and conferences. The main features of the park are the pioneer village, which is very informative and entertaining for the history buff and the geographic features of the park. The springs and surrounding terrain spectacular. Also, a must see is the Grissom Memorial. A fitting tribute to a local and national hero.
Gene Payne
Awesome place! Just wish I had visited the park sooner. Great for short hiking. Trails are in pretty good shape. Wil take more time cave exploring next time. Nice Inn and village. A lot of History. Great for a family get away in this tumultuous times!!
Jason Smith
Beautiful park! Loads of activities for the family. Boat tour into a cave was literally cool, around 54 degrees if I remember correctly. (Signs on shower door read primitive campers prohibited from using showers. ???) We and most other primitive campers I noticed used the showers anyway. No one seemed to care so all good!
Ray Jones
Awesome place if you like history
Alicia Owen
This has always been one of my favorite places. Now I've been able to share this place with my husband and kids over the past couple years. :) We all love the pioneer village and my 6 year old actually requests to go to it now. The nature center is pretty nice. Lots of displays upstairs and down as well as kids activities down stairs. There are plenty of trails for people of all abilities. I took the one between the village and parking area next to the bridge last time. Even with a super tired 2 and 6 year old, it wasn't bad. We were fortunate enough to see a river otter searching for food in the creek in the village last time as well!
Nathan Froehle
Great place for a hike and if you go during the summer season they have the mill operating where you can buy their flour.
Michelle Granger
Awesome Park! Such a great variety of interesting attractions in one place. You're sure to find something you enjoy here. A Friendly and Helpful Naturalist assisted us with the Explore Pin Program. Check it out for yourself. One of my favorite State Parks in all of Indiana!
Lynn Adams
If you like rustic and peace and quiet, this should top your list.
Jacinda Wood
Beautiful old mill and plenty of marked hiking trails
Amber Walker
Beautiful scenery & lots to do
Amanda Disbro
Love...love...love Spring Mill State Park. We visited the village, space center, and campground. The village is an all time favorite of mine. Everyone is always very friendly. The space center is informative and well-kept. The campground is not my favorite in this area. The grounds are always clean and staff is very friendly. The campsites are not very private and always very busy. That is my only complaint.
Cassie Robinson
Beautiful area! Laid back atmosphere. Walk around at your own pace and enjoy the history of this village. There was a woman there making yarn with an old spinning wheel who took the time to tell us how she was doing it and who gave us an educational background to the mill and it's houses. Kids and adults alike will find it interesting! You can take a nice hike (pretty long for kids or those who don't enjoy hiking) from Spring Mill Inn or you can drive down to the village.
Barry Buchanan
The pioneer village is a unique experience although I feel it has deteriorated in the past 15 years.
The trails are nice. The Inn is a pleasant relaxing place to stay, but showing some age. I was very happy to see the Inn pool was open despite Covid-19 chaos.
The nature museum is a nice addition, but probably needs better funding and more interest.
Concession stands near pioneer village are a bit lacking in good food and service.
The recreation area pool and sports area was closed (disappointing)
The camp ground area is closed to drive thru visitors. How am I supposed to see if I would like camping there?
Entrance fee is too high.
Gail Pennington
I've lived in Southern Indiana my entire life. I can't believe that I have never heard of such an amazing place. I love History! This little gem is a must see for everyone. I have been there twice in the last month. They have a hotel and restaurant in the park itself. I can imagine a young couple getting married in their lovely English style garden, then holding a reception in their dining room. The large hotel built in 1936 is large enough for all of their guests. The historical village is simply amazing. The large stone and log structures have survived to come back to life. The waterfalls supplied power to the old mills that are operational today. Can you tell I love this state park?
Tommy
A great place to go and clear your mind.
Betsy Blair
Trails are great, be sure to check out the cave entrances, especially when it is so hot out. Natural air conditioning!
The inn is comfortable and the dining room buffet is a great value with very good food. Service is great. They don't post the prices for the buffet, tho.
Camping was nice, tho bathroom cleaning could be improved.
Joel F
This is a great park. Its small so it can be hiked in a day. But even though it is small you don't see tons of people out on the trails. The little "village" is probably the only area we saw several people. I also like that you can park in one spot and access almost every trail the park has to offer.
Quintin Thomas
Enjoyed the cave. If you’re willing to get wet it’s fun. Drove from Louisville, was worth it.
April Blair
Beautiful park! Camping was great, bathrooms were clean, and staff was nice.
Pamela Roberts
Hopefully we can return to the park before the heat of summer to hike the trails. The park is so lovely right now in the Spring time.

We have always taken our kids all their life, to spring mill Park. And they come with us now as adults. We have taken our grandkids. We all just love and enjoy the park so much. Thank u so much for all u do.
Bruce Miller
Quiet little State Park in Southern Indiana. Spring Mill Inn is open. If you stay more than one night the so not clean your room each day due to COVID-19. The room is cleaned and sanitized between each guest. The restaurant is open with limited menus. Food is simple but good. Park attractions like the hiking trails, boat rentals and the pioneer village are open and not busy. If you are staying at the inn the attached pool is open. Group camping, the public pool and the twin caves boat tour are still closed. Great place to go if you are just looking to slow down and relax for a few days.
Jon Bovee
This state park is ah-mazing! Scenery, wildlife, amenities. This park has it all.
Ashley Robinson
We visited Mothers Day weekend and had a blast. We loved the village and enjoyed seeing the mill run. We wished the blacksmith was open but we did get there a little later in the day. We walked one trail and have no complaints. It was beautiful and overall a great trip!
Jeffery Roberts
Very good camping, clean showers checked 2 times a day
Good size lake, fishing, large pioneer village, gus Grissom memorial, camp store easy access state gate fee all else free.....
Darren Byler
Absolutely so beautiful and peaceful! Incredibly awesome village too. Well worth the drive!
Andy Whitfield
Great place for relaxing family fun. We took the cave tour, hiked and a hat wagon ride. The wagon ride they encourage you to hoop and holler at fellow campers to have a good time. One of the best camp experiences we've had this year. Playground for the kids and an nature center. Bath houses were very clean and accommodating.
Shari Burger
This is a very nice park. The Poineer Village at the park is an added bonus. With all the historic buildings in the village you feel like you've gone back in time. The hiking trails are very well marked. Stayed at the Inn and love that it is pet friendly now so we could bring our dog.
Paula Smallwood
Absolutely beautiful quaint place surrounded by gorgeous natural beauty. 💜 …
Linda Lain
Beautiful park, with the leaves turning colors, Also learning history if some of the first pioneers and how the mill was run. Also the lodge is very pretty and the food at the restaurant was good, also bonus was the heated outdoor pool in October love it!
Matthew Pillar
Spring Mill is a great place to get away, relax, and enjoy nature. It's conveniently located near several attractions such as Morengo Cave, Blue Springs Caverns, and only about an hour from French Lick, IN. The lodge is a wonderful place to stay, with an indoor/outdoor heated pool, a wonderful restaurant attached to the lodge, tons of foot trails that take you all over the park and back to the lodge. The pioneer village has a working mill, plenty of historic buildings to explore, and a wonderful staff that explain about the locations and what would be done in the area.
Quincey White
Beautiful park, well kept. Can get turned around a bit in there on the roads. Some camper locations are very tight. So you might wanna look ahead at spots, and remember patience is a virtue and not everyone is a pro at backing one in.
Thomas Beaver
Very peaceful and quiet. Excellent seasonal displays.
Mitchell Horton
Great trails and beautiful scenery. There's a huge picnic area with a playground that's great for family gatherings.
Kalee Jackson
Average park. Entry fee is $7 for locals and I believe $10 for nonlocals. The caves have been closed off and on for a while now. Trails don't get a lot of attention and can overgrow fast. The cemetery gets a lot of traffic and visitors but can get trash and debris, that tends to get overlooked. The pool area is nice. Good amount of seating. The changing rooms and bathrooms are usually clean enough. They do have lockers available to rent. The lifeguards can be very rude, so warning. It's a good place for families. They have a kiddie pool for toddlers and babies - with seating.
Jim Lee
Very pretty area and terrific customer service. Restaurant was slow and limited menu, but it is COVID times. Best parts are the Grissom Museum, trail hikes, and rooms were very nice.
Drasilvos
Got married here, absolutely love it.
Amanda Bentley
An absolute gem of a state park. Lovely scenery and trails. Great picnicking area and creek to splash in. The village is very well kept and they often have reenactments going on. Very nice place to visit. Cave tours book quickly.
Scott Mikel
Wonderful experience! Highly recommend a visit!
Laura
Rooms were clean, warm and welcoming! The staff is always friendly. A big fire in the lobby fireplace once again welcomes guests. Will be coming back home again.
Jessica Porter
This place is absolutely unique. There are plenty of trails to hike and caves to visit. If you are looking for a place to relax and have as little or as much fun as you want, this is it. The hotel has country style charm. The best part in my opinion is the village with its quaint, back-in-time feeling you get while walking among historical buildings. This place deserves a days and a nights visit. Campers are welcome anytime. Enjoy!
M Faulkner
Great spot lots of great hikes.
Ben Ring
Spring Mill State Park is a very nice state park. There are plenty of enjoyable paths to walk and the historical area has a working mill which you can buy some great fresh cornmeal at. The inn is also a very cozy place, with plenty of space to hang out outside of your room. I love coming here and hope to come back soon.
Bedford Crenshaw
To me this has always been the epitome of what a state park should be. A pioneer village caves to explore, a museum dedicated to an astronaut hero, a nice inn, and lovely scenic trails. I grew up listening to tales on how great it was to camp here, and I can definitely believe it.
Mimi C
I'm blessed my parents used to take us here as children, sometimes to tent camp, sometimes for a day. As a well seasoned, veteran traveller I'm pleased to say it's still one of my favorites. Be sure to not only visit the wonderful pioneer village during the day, but go back at dusk when the paths and cabins stand in quiet solitude sharing poignant reminders of the lifestyles of our American settlers. If you sit quietly by one of the old cabins you can almost feel the past touch you! Thank you Indiana and the parks service for this treasure.
Live*Love*Life
We absolutely love this place! Keep in mind there is a fee to enter the park itself(per car load) but once inside the park, the village is free. It has a working gristmill. Go early and make sure you check the times of the Village hours before you go. It's not open all the time but it's a highlight of the park! The history is absolutely amazing! The kids love to play in the creek & the surrounding areas are so beautiful. Take tons of supplies(cooler, ice, food, drinks, spatula, charcoal, lighter if you plan to grill) especially if you have children. Spend the entire day at the village, in the creek, and on the trails. This is one of our favorite parks in the area.
The Guy
A very nice park that I truly love to visit, though they are short on staff currently, it was a fun experience to hike or visit the village. I would recommend anyone to go visit with the family and please donate to the park to keep the memories alive.
Jamie Dobbs
This place was amazing, even in early March! The few trails my wife and I walked were nice, and getting to see the working mill on site was an interesting experience and a fun look at history.
One trail close to Pioneer Village had a downed tree blocking the path, and it looked to have been down for a good amount of time. This kept us from observing the dam area which feeds water up to the working mill.
We spent one night at The Spring Mill Inn, which was a stunning location to spend time and spend the night. The atmosphere was great, and the buffet and breakfast was exceptional!
The Kristler's
Great state park, whether you want to hike some trails, stroll through the pioneer village, camp for a few days or spend the night in the lodge. Hope they can bring the buffet back soon.
N.james.squill
This is in my top 3 state parks to visit!
So many Wonderful memories made here!
Halloween is the best..... if you dont know what I'm talking about, sorry for ya.
The Inn is nice, campgrounds are great. Pool, hiking, nature center.... many more...... 👍👍
Travis Moore
The pioneer village is wonderful. Hiking trails are nice and several had pawpaw trees with ripe fruit. Grissom memorial is small but very educational and cool. The whole family enjoyed our camping trip at spring mill.
Big34Game85
Best state park I have been to in Indiana! So much to do here. The period authentic workers in the Village are very knowledgeable. Campsites were very convenient and the caves and trails are wonderful. We will be back often!
Kevin Case
We stayed at the campground. Some camp sites are not very level so plan on extra leveling. It rained all Saturday, but didn't let it slow us down. The village was open and nice to walk through. We ate one meal at the inn and it was delicious. The Gus Grissom museum and activity center was small, but nice. We will return hopefully with less rain!
Lisa Sue Sharp
It's a nice pull in for a fifth wheel but our area #045 was very muddy! This is our second time here at Spring Mills State Park (which was 10 years ago.) We enjoy ourselves when we are in the forest on the amazing trails, going to see the man made caves. The employees are very friendly.
nam li
Really good place for family and friends..
Shannon Hyatt
First time visiting your beautiful park. Got caught out in a rain storm while hiking. Which made it more adventurous. Thank you so much for providing a comfortable place for us. We will definitely be returning.
Jean Tarquninio
Location is beautiful, lots of things to do for every age, camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, bikes and boat rentals. There is an Inn on the grounds and the Gus Grissom museum. Restaurant serves breakfast lunch and dinner off a menu or choose the buffet. Only complaint would be they have very few choices for non meat eating peeps. Would like to see some vegetarian choices on the buffet so we can enjoy that as well.
Leslie Hicks
Wonderful place, great natural family fun. Plenty of things to do beyond camping. You won't be able to see/do it all in a regular weekend span. Campgrounds are clean, nice, and family friendly. Biking, walking, hiking, trail riding. Pioneer village packed with history, fun things to see, and nostalgic pillars of Indiana at a young age. Be prepared to unplug as cellphone service for all carriers is at an absolute minimum. Plug them in, set them down, and unplug here. It's a great place to do it. Bring bikes, comfortable shoes, and the whole family as it's pet friendly here.
Kat Klemp
Great place for a family get together. We had a revealing party there.
Ethan Cloud
We go to Spring Mill almost 5 times a year. It is a nice historic park and has an awesome working gristmill. The mill runs several times a day and you can buy cornmeal made by the antique mill. One of our favorite times to go is the winter. We go to the village and every homestead has a group of people that either tell a small bit of history, singing Christmas carols or are enjoying a Christmas dinner the way they would in the 1800’s. It is a very neat experience and highly recommended.
john williams
The perfect park for a family historical outing. The old mill and village shops are all original. It's like taking a walk through a 19th century village. The kids will love it. They'll engage in historical reenactment while enjoying some of the best hot dogs and ice cream in Indiana. And you can take home some stone ground corn meal for your next family dinner!!
Brittany Weir
Beautiful park with caves that are so cool to explore but I wish they kept their bathrooms clean and had trashcans all over the park so you wouldn't see trash on the ground.
Sallyann Naumoff
The actual park is amazing. We love the different events. We find the trails very usable. The park staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The inn and restaurant is a totally different story. The wait staff at the restaurant is always absent. If your forced to eat there get the buffet. Yes the food is old and nasty but you know what your getting into. We ordered off the menu. My food did not come with everyone else's food. Was told opps it wasn't made. When it finally came it wasn't even what I originally ordered. The chicken was bloody by the bone. I didn't even eat more than a few bites. Of course no server to send it back because the next time we saw her she dropped the check. When we went to pay I told them the price of my meal was wrong because I was given fried chicken and not a cheese burger, yep you read that right! The lady looked at the table and said "looks like you didn't eat anything " and laughed. I told her my chicken was raw and I really wanted a burger etc...was charged full price and left so angry.
Lucas Woody
Love the Inn! The trails were amazing. The inn buffet is good, but does get a little repetitive if you eat a few days in a row there (we decided to do Edna's Pizza from Mitchell, they delivered right to the inn! The pioneer town was amazing, and wasn't even completely open yet! We bought leather that was carved there, a pot that was made there, and corn that was ground at the original mill! Will definitely be back in the summer!
Heidi Pullin
I love this park! I hold it near and dear. My grandfather along with many other guys helped to restore the village in this park! Such a beautiful place with the historical touch. They work hard informing people and keeping this place beautiful! Check this place out your not gonna be mad about it! They have caves and trails as well.
Chads Stuff
Nice park. Well maintained. More hiking trails available than possible in one weekend. We stayed spot 101 after memorial weekend. No sign of expected mess. Cave boat ride short and cool. Pioneer village really neat. All staff polite
Rebekah Ritter
Been going here since I was a little girl and it was always my favorite place to go. I love walking in their trails and seeing all the nature and waterfalls and they have a very nice swimming pool and basketball/tennis courts. A beautiful place!!
Summer Lyons
I really don't like leaving bad reviews but for the price we paid, it wasn't worth not being able to use the 2nd bed in the room as it was weirdly damp?
Jai Maa
This is one if the most beautiful parks I have ever RV'ed to. There are gorgeous hiking trails, adventurous caves to climb in and explore, wonderful preserved history of the mill, and the grounds are kept clean and beautiful. I highly recommend checking out this top notch state park!
Philip Peloquin
One of the best state parks I've ever been to. Camp ground is super clean. The camp ground VIP's are top notch. Anything you need they will do thier best to take care of. The trails are some of the cleanest I've ever hiked on. The village is awesome! They take time to teach and help you understand what went on there 200 years ago.
Nicole Bozena
Awesome state park. Good for a lot of different kinds, interesting history with the old mill, moderate to east hikes, and water access if it's super hot. They have some cute events through the year, civil war reenactments and other events. Plenty of spots to cook out or picnic.
Lindsey H
My boyfriend and I spent a day/night at the park and inn. We loved walking around the Pioneer Village and hearing the people talk about which building was used for what. The inn was relaxing, comfortable, and quiet. The breakfast buffest was also good. We will definitely be back to walk the trails once it gets warmer and to stay another night at the inn.
Kevin Long
Spring Mill State Park has a little of everything. It has a nice campground with water, electricity, and shower houses for those looking to camp. It also has an inn with free wifi, a parking garage ( The garage also has 2 spaces for Tesla's to charge! ), a commons room, a gift shop, and a balcony overlooking the lake. There are miles of trails within the park, including a two mile mountain bike trail ( I wouldn't recommend this trail as it is really wide and slippery because of the gravel, especially on the hills.). There is also an Olympic sized swimming pool (50 meters) and a bike rental, but you have to pay an extra fee for use of both of those. ($3 per person for the pool.) For those looking for a historic trip you can walk around the Spring Mill Pioneer Village where real activities and demonstrations ( blacksmithing, weaving, carving etc.) are happening, especially around the holidays. There are also numerous caves inside the park. The most visited one is Donaldson/Shawnee cave, as you can go in the right side of the cave and explore at your own speed without a permit. (For more experienced cavers you can also obtain a permit to go inside other caves in the park including the wet portion of Donaldson/Shawnee, Bronson, Hamer, and the very hidden Whistling caves.) Tours of the Twin Caves are available via boat and to get tickets you need to get there about half an hour before the caves open. This is definitely one of my favorite State Parks and my family and I have been there three times now and are considering going back. I think It's worth checking out even if you don't like camping.
BanditHQ32
Reconnect with nature. Plenty of trails for hiking. See 200 year old trees that tower above you. Enjoy a picnic at one of the many outdoor areas. Spend time exploring the old pioneer village and fish or paddle around one of the lakes. A treasure not far from Louisville or southern indiana. Very much worth a day excursion.
Joe Boehnlein
Our family has been coming to Spring Mill and staying in the lodge since I was 5. I'm now 40. I am spending a few days of my vacation in the lodge and, apart from a few minor things, have been really happy.
The Inn: There are gremlins living in the HVAC in my room. It's noisy but it's not preventing me from sleeping. The WiFi is still touchy. It would be nice to not have to reconnect my phone every time I come back from the village or walking the trails. I also have a hard time getting connectivity outside on the porches. The pool is still a source of frustration for me. Dead flies and other bugs in the water. It's an indoor/outdoor, so I get that there will be some bugs. But, maybe, have somebody come over every hour or two with a net? Temperature is nice. I don't have to inch my way into the water.
None of those things are going to prevent me from coming back, though. It's still a relaxing, comfortable place to be. It's old. Yes. But it's not dirty. I love the new additions like the refrigerator in the room, the new faucet and tub fixtures... the new shower heads are AWESOME... and the new light fixtures are great, too! The basement floor looks like it has been re-done. I wonder if they're planning on going floor by floor. I also LOVE that the buffet has been taken away and that we now have menus. I get that that's because of COVID but I REALLY hope that doesn't come back.
Now, the park: I love the modifications like the new staircase at Twin Caves and what looks like a built up creek bed near Hamer Cave. Trail 4 right to the right of the intersection with Trail 1 needs a few boards replaced. That entire section of wood is very wobbly. The mill ran the entire day that I was there and not just on the top of the hour. I stayed two days and walked all of the trails. Great trails and not TOO rugged.
The caves: I'm curious if there is a map that shows where the caves go. For example... I know that Donaldson, Bronson, and Twin are all connected... but I'd like to see where they run throughout the park. Kind of like a Google Map overlay with the cave routes on top. Is there such a thing? Do we also know where the wet and dry sides of Donaldson go? Do they just end at a cave-in / sinkhole? I'd like to sit down with a DNR person who knows about those caves and just pick their brain.
Long story short. Too late, I know... I've been coming here for 35 years and it's my absolute favorite part of Indiana. There are a few minor things that I would love to see change but I'll be coming back, hopefully, for 40 more years.
Josh Drake
My favorite state park. Trails to hike, caves to explore, activities at the village. Plenty of things for the kids to do and areas to play. Just a fantastic place.
James Baer
Good people, good food and good photo opportunities. I have been coming to the park for the last several years. My attendance is in the winter months of Dec or Jan.The rates are less expensive and the winter photo shots are just as beautiful as the summer shots, and when a little snow is on the ground, it is a big plus.
Jacob Baughman
The bathrooms and showers could use an update but the park is beautiful. There's so much to do.
Brenda Hester
2 for 1 special till the end of the month. Indoor/outdoor HEATED pool...so wonderful to float under the stars in the warm (not bathtub warm - actually warm!) Pool listening to the night sounds. Free coffee and tea 24 hrs in the game room. Choose to go green while staying and get a 10.00 gift card! Stayed in the basement suite. Plenty of room for the family and 2 TVs. Enjoyed our stay. Will stay again.
Kathryn Moor
Nice park with many things to do. It is a very popular park. If planning to camp, reservations should be made in advance. We are camping in a 40 ft motorhome. Sites are difficult & almost impossible to park in with a large RV. It rained for 2 days & many of the sites are big mudholes with standing water.
Susan Fritschi (Susan F)
A beautiful park. We stayed in the Inn for 2 nights. We found many things to do. I wish we had taken the time to do more there. We did see one of the caves. It was not accessible to go into, but was a very pretty walk. We stopped at the Virgil Grissom memorial. That was very interesting and informative.
ralph 6240
Interesting town and grist meal grinds corn and cuts lumber. The cave is fun to ride through in a row boat when it is open. The kids have a blast wading in the creek. Great for anyone of all ages to experience.
Lisa Burwell
Hope to visit in 2023, we enjoyed our time.
Kristi Devries
Love this place. We've been twice now. The indoor/outdoor pool is amazing!! The game room is cozy and it was fun playing board games with my kids by the fire! Will definitely be back!
Gatertech
Beautiful place. Never gets old.
JamieandShayla Brown
Truly awesome. Great trails. Well marked. Excellent historical area. Loved it.
Andrew Shewmaker
Such a beautiful park with lots to do and see. Our family really enjoyed the Settlers Village, the Gus Grisson Memorial, the boat tour through the Twin Caves and all the many trails.
Jasmine Helming
Great place for everyone. Trails for beginners and trails that are a little more rugged.
Rachel B
Was good to get out and enjoy nature :)
Tygr Northup
Great place to hide from the crowds if you time it just right.
Glenn Schwenk
Dated rooms. Many attractions closed for the season. Great activity center.
Great wait staff in the dining hall.
Grissom Memorial nice.
Attached Pioneer Breakfast photo.
Michael Pemberton
One of the most beautifulliest parks i've ever had the chance to visit. It takes you back in time as if you was alive doing that era in history.Great food, trails and activities for all age groups.I can't wait to visit this place a thousand more times.I'm in love with this place.
Crystal
Lovely inn with buffet style meals, simple but clean rooms, and gorgeous surrounding state park. My son liked the pool and the game room had table tennis, board games, air hockey, and arcade games. Comparable to other state park lodges we gave gone to like Abe Martin. Only tiny downside? No mini fridge in our room, im unsure if others have this.
Ken Steinbrook
The pioneer village is picturesque. The caves are fun. The pool is great. Be prepared for steps..lots of steps! It's a hike to see anything here. Go to the old Mill and watch them grind cirn meal. I loved this experience.
Michelle Montoya
My only compliant is the dirty bathroom in the lobby of the inn. Two of 3 toilets were clogged. Toilet paper was not in the holder. This was at noon on Sunday July 25th. We only went for lunch and to see the mill and village. I can't rate anything else.
Marcia Carpenter
It's a beautiful park but I feel they need to mark the campground exits better. It's very confusing & one can easily get turned around. You need to keep your park map handy to help you find your way around the campground. However, the spots themselves are numbered clearly on the electric boxes.
Sarah Stites
We come here at least once a year and it is always enjoyable. There is lots to do even if you don't want to go to the village. There's fishing and boating, the Grissom museum, lists of trails and picnic areas, too!
Richard Agee
Super cool. Very clean! People are very helpful and good at there jobs. $9 to get into park for out of state guest and thats it. No more fees. Great way for a family to have fun on a budget. Defiantly recomend it. Wheelchair friendly.
Terry Bultman
I'm 67 and veteran. I don't have much interest in parks but I would take grandkids if entrance fee was free or cheap. $7 is no longer cheap for me
LeeOna Toliver
My family always loves going to Spring Mill! They are a very well matained beautiful park!
Mohler Clan
This park was great! There are many things to do like hike their trails and visit there awesome town by their mill!
Rob Greene
Great park. I liked the hiking trails and the village. The village gives this park a unique experience from the rest of the state parks in indy. The Inn isn't fancy. In fact it is a little dated and the rooms are small, but again, they're unique because of the hand made quilt and rocking chairs.
Donald Miller
Spring Mill State Park Lodge is one of our favorite spots in the Indiana State Parks system. Our rooms have always been clean, quiet and inviting. No, it is not the Marriott or Ritz Carlton. But for very reasonable pricing, great food and hiking available throughout the park, it is terrific. The cave is closed but there are other caves within 2 hours of the park. Highly recommend this park lodge.
Mitchell Smith
Visited on a Sunday to have lunch at the buffet. Large salad bar, I ate mostly off the hot bar which had plenty of cooked vegetable and three or four meats to choose from. I was pleasantly surprised by the desert selection with three or four kind of pies and three or four kinds of cake as well. I was also surprised to see someone still cooking omelets at noon. After lunch took a quick drive around the park and saw a deer. Would gladly go back when I'm in town.
Joe Robak
Great little piece of Indiana history!
John Mouck
This is a wonderful and fun place to tour around, camp, and hike for people of e every age. There is even an inn with a super dining room if you don't feel like cooking lol.
Mariam
Even though my trip lined up with stormy weather our experience was wonderfully memorable. Love the trails and caves. The nature center was nice and had the weather been nicer we would have stayed longer.
Cathy Guthrie
Beautiful park with a rich history. Great trails. Ask the staff about the geology and grab some cornmeal at the village. Be sure to visit the Gus Grissom memorial.
KLUV PEACE
Great place to work. At the Inn MY husband has worked for Spring Mill Inn for 3 years. They are excellent with their staff and treat you with respect as long as you do your job. My husband loves working there.
Plus it's a beautiful place to explore & play.
Ayla carpenter
This is a beautiful state park inside a forested area. The park includes camp grounds, a pioneer village, a well tended pioneer cemetery, the Gus Grissom Memorial and the charming Spring Mill Historic Inn (stay for dinner and try the fried chicken on the buffet - it's the best!)
Josh Bryant
Even with 3" of snow on the ground, this place was awesome! The Donaldson Cave was a very special place to visit.
Judy LeMasters
Beautiful, wonderful park with large terrific camp grounds. The pioneer village is a delightful and enlightening experience
Elliot Cameron
Beautiful place to visit, entertaining, and so many things to see! Young kids really enjoyed the pioneer village, playground, and nature center. Parents loved it too. Highly recommend and we'll be planning another visit!
Shawn Maier
We went primitive camping here and it was wonderful. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The bathrooms and pool were clean. The village and creek were a fantastic sight. Will be coming back for more camping and next time were gonna check out some trails.
Bran
I absolutely love this park. They have a Pioneer Village which is pretty much like a mini Conner Prarie. You can buy goods made by the people who reenact daily chores and activities of those back in the 1800s. The entire park is historical. There are 5 caves and 1 of which you may take a boat tour of as long as the water isn't too high or too low. There are camp grounds and a swimming pool.
This park is basically a community in and of itself. I highly, HIGHLY, recommend!
CaiHaileyMamaw
We have been going here for years and have always enjoyed this place very much. This time however, our experience was much different. We had booked a room at the inn for two nights. The room they put us in has a dehumidifier in it, this was very unusable. Upon investigating, we discovered that there was a large patch of wall paper that had been peeled back and upon looking behind it, we found black mold on the wall. We requested another room and got one with no problem. We were lucky they were not booked up since it was during the week. Also, we have always felt they had the best buffet of all the parks and were looking forward to eating there that night. We were very disappointed when we began eating. The corn and the creamed peas were very bad. They did serve ribs, but instead of being BBQ ribs, they were cooked with sour crout. The only other options were fried chicken or roast beef. The beef was tough. The dessert bar, which had always been very good as well with quite a variety, had only 5 items on it. There were no pies or even cakes. In the morning, we ordered biscuits and gravy and it was very cold. We did not eat there again. Also, the maid service was terrible, they did not even take the time to wipe down the table in out room the following day. There was a lack of coffee cups as well as condiments when we tried to get coffee as well. We very much enjoy the park and will go back, but we will not eat there again and we will also make sure to closely check the cleanliness of any room prior to unpacking.
Michelle Switzer
One of Indiana's best parks. Beautifully kept grounds. So much to do and see here. The village is outstanding. I'd give 10 stars if I could.
Brian Hammett
Great park is a wide variety of activities to cover any interest. One of the focal points is the Pioneer Village with many old buildings including a mill when this area was a stagecoach stop. In addition to many hiking trails it offers some caves for exploring. Another major point of interest to visit is the memorial to local hero Virgil "Gus" Grissom. This park is an extremely entertaining place to spend a day with the family.
Rachelle Ellis
Beautiful, well kept park! Love all the different demonstrations they have. Staff is very knowledgeable about the park and area. Stay all day! Fantastic spot for a picnic or large gathering
Lisa C
Really enjoy coming here. Have been to the village so many times and it never gets old. Camped for the first time this year and had a good time. Fun to ride your bike around the campgrounds. Good place for kids.
HET POPTANI
Had a wonderful time. Beautiful and amazing caves ( twin caves ),water bodies, picnic spots, hiking/biking trails. I Would definitely this place recommend for one day outing.
mary williams
We've been camping at this park since the 70s and it's always wonderful. The historic village is great, the pool and trails are fun, and Grissom Memorial is small but informative.
Highly recommend!
Kenny Roberts II
Absolutely wonderful experience with the family. The folks that reproduce goods from that time period give us a peek back to a simpler more physically demanding way of life . We're truly blessed today
Vanessa A Coulter
Have been visiting this place for 48 years. Love it. I am a fan of the space program and I always have to stop at the Gus Grissom Memorial. Well, I stop once a year. Love the Pioneer village, the caves, picnic areas and the swimming pool. If I could add 2 things... I would make it possible for visitors to get cell service throughout the park. Necessary when groups split up for different activities. I would also put items at the Mercantile that are only made in America. It is frustrating to be shopping there and find something I really like and want. When I turn it over and it says, "Made in China" it goes right back on the shelf. Very sad actually.
Elizabeth Wilkerson
What a wonderful place to visit! Our group included ages from preteen to senior, and we all found the Pioneer Village to be wonderfully informative. Our buffet meal at the lodge was delicious. It is an all around great place for a day trip.
Matthew and Patty Bucken
Great state park with lots to do. Enjoyed the mill, boat cave tour, nature center etc. Some caves are not open to public due to protecting bats so might want to check on that if you are wanting to explore the caves other then the boat tour.
Jennifer Baker
Be careful showering. I got scalded multiple times. The rooms just look run down. The staff were awesome! Very friendly! The pool is amazing! It's like bath water!

Very beautiful. But defiantly don't go to the pool. It has fiber glass in it. I asked the person in charge and she said there is. They don't have a warning sign about it. Everyone in my family has fiber glass stuck in their legs and arms. Other than that it is a very beautiful park.

Love it here! Great for families with kids of all ages

It is only 7 - 9 bucks to get it and you will have a day full of adventure. Astronaut museam, historical settlement that is reenacted for you by the actors, hiking trails galore, multiple caves. It's perfect. And camping is fairly cheap if you wanted to stay there

Love the park second to stay at the Inn. We camped this weekend. Nice camp ground

The spring mill inn is beautiful, family friendly place to stay. Even indoor pool for winter. State park is dead this time of year, but good time to check out camping sites for season ahead.
Joshua Greiner
Village is great, but website is well out of date and contains errors. Also, pool and other items were closed. Campground is a mix, bathroom rarely cleaned.
Patricia Souza
Beautiful paths and camp sites. Went during memorial weekend and they many activities for families. Sites were clean and bathrooms were well stocked. Our family had a blast.

One of the nicest state parks in Indiana. Staff at the Inn were excellent and most helpful as always. 5 stars.

My boyfriend and I took my kids, 9 and 6, here and had a wonderful time! We are considering a season pass. Lots to see and many events to go to. The Mill was amazing and the caves were their favorite part.
Krista Wanko
Loved the cave tour and indoor outdoor pool. Only request would be to see more healthy options in the Inn dining room. Some rooms were a bit musty but priced great so it's hard to complain.

The pioneer village is very neat with a working gristmill and is free with park admission. There are a couple caves you can explore and plenty of hiking trails. The small lake offers paddle boat and canoe and kayak rentals.
Amanda DeWeese
Truly my favorite place on Earth!
Phil Achleman
Very clean and well kept campground. Lots of things to do for kids and adults. The lake is naturally beautiful, if not swimmable. Great place to spend a weekend!
Nick Dunn
For years the lake here was not fishermen friendly. They've finally begun cleaning it up, stocking it with trout, renting kayaks and John boats. Beautiful park as well, lots of non-fishing activities. An impressive Gus Grissom museum with really best artifacts.
Jr. Niev
1890 pioneer village. Beautiful place to visit with family.

Spring Mill is in Mitchell, IN. It is the hometown of Gus Grissom. It has a large beautiful park with a quaint little museum dedicated to Grissom with a film reel giving his story and accomplishments as well as final moments. There are a couple of little gift shops on the grounds but the mill contains the most information and experience to be had. There are trails and fishing and a lot more family fun. There is also a cemetery if you like that sort of thing.

Absolutely breathtaking!! So much to do!! I would seriously be shocked if I were to hear that anyone living anywhere within the State of Indiana hasn't visited here at least once in their life!!! If you haven't then you definitely need to!!!

Is so beautiful a day well spent

A beautiful serene place to visit.
Sharon Campbell
I've been there several times and JUST LOVE IT! Wonderful all the way around! Fireplaces are awesome and so cozy. The food is great, too! I can't wait to go back!
Timothy Lillie
Nice enough place, but the rain was pouring down most of the time I was there, so I did not get a chance to do any hiking trails, or swim in the pool, or visit the caves. Next time I go, I'll hope for better weather.
Shannon Childers
There's always a lot to see, including a Pioneer village and caves. This is a great Park where you can enjoy Hoosier hospitality and beautiful views. The hotel is older, but has a sweet ambience and good food.
Jeanne Dalzell
I've loved this place since I was a child, over 60 years ago. The authentic Pioneer Village is one of a kind, great for all ages. Caves, trails, waterfalls to suit everyone!
Kathleen Brune
We really enjoyed our visit here last year. Very informative, and loved the stone-ground cornmeal we purchased! Our 3rd great grandfather built the home used as the weaver's house, so we loved seeing that it being so well taken care of.
Janie Earl
Had a wonderful 2 nite stay. Very convenient for the river walk which is beautiful! The parking was too far from the front door. Wanted a king size bed but had to settle for 2 queen beds.

So much to see here. It's really one of Indianas hidden treasures. It's a fabulous place. Don't miss out visiting this state park It's truly a treasure.

This place gives you a warm fuzzy feeling being there. I sat by the fireplace and listened to several people play their instruments , some bluegrass to gospel. It has a WOW factor when you see it pulling up, very old it's like being somewhere you see only on postcards. I have to tell you though it was sitting watching and warming by the fire that really did me in.
