Reviews of Miami State Recreation Area
Such a nice park and campground. There is 470 sites but doesn't feel like a large campground. Sites are comfy; tables, fire rings, electric, assorted bathrooms, shade, showers, scattered water spigots. There's a swimming beach and boat ramps in the park itself. Bring your corn hole, volleyball, horseshoes, lawn darts, bicycles, penny cans, and any other assortment of outdoor games. It is quite and I recieved several nights of solid sleep.
We always come here to go camping or take the kids for a swim. They are able to take walks and enjoy themselves along with us adults doing the same. The sites are always cleaned up and maintained. The officers are always driving around to make sure no one is causing and nuisance. My family has been coming here for years. It is always a good place to have a cook out or reunion due to the spacious setting. They have a small park for younger kids, volleyball net, you're allowed to fish in the outside parameters of the beach. There is only one thing I disliked, they had taken many trees down which provided shade, but I do understand why they chose to do so.
Large, lovely campground. Lots of trees for shade and nice size sites. Gravel pads but plenty of grass at the sites as well. Very popular for boating, plenty of roads to bike on. Clean showers!
Great park, very well kept camping areas. We had an issue with the electricity, called it in, and had it fixed within an hour. It was a great weekend, and we will be back!
We had a semi-rainy weekend, but still had a good time. Having the convenience of the Camp Store on the grounds is so helpful. Plus Jackson's is just right outside the gate, making picking up those forgotten item's a breeze.
Most site's are big enough that you're not intruding on the privacy of your neighbors. Plus they have plenty of Comfort Stations (full bathrooms w/ showers) throughout the campgrounds that you don't generally have to walk far. If you're looking for a full hook-up site look on side A, they have quite a few. A also had just electric site's as well. Just want electric or private look on side B. Very nice playgrounds for the kid's on both sides.
There aren't any site's on the water front, but they do have a mooring area for the campgrounds that has its own small ramp. Making it easy if you take your boat & don't want to keep putting it in & taking it out of the lake. There are a few more big boat ramps around the lake to launch your boat as well. For those who want to hike, they have a few trails to explore. And if you want to hunt they have many great area's for that as well. All in all, it's a well rounded State Park.
I was fortunate enough to be a part of setting this brand new Shower house and bathrooms for campsite area At Mississenewa Lake. Beautiful place plenty of Serenity to be found here for sure !
1. Campground
The campground was beautiful! Over the recent holiday weekend, the campground was full. We had to stay at a primitive site. I'm glad we did because they were some of the biggest at the campground. Our campground neighbors were excellent, and our girl had fun riding bikes with the other kids.
2. Playgrounds
The beach playground is the best one in my opinion due to the beautiful lake views! There is another playground right when you enter the campground, which was ok.
3. Facilities
Be prepared for a mix of outhouses and good bathrooms with showers. The family bathroom by the lake was flooded :( The camp store was a life saver for various odds and ends.
Awesome place to visit, camp and enjoy outdoor recreation.
There was activity all around with the labor day weekend.
Interaction with staff was positive. All staff were friendly.
A new comfort station was built for the 2022 camp season. It is very nice. A comment to the planning staff for that project, would be to have open/occupied notification on the doors.
Will stay here again!
Great winter van camping. Disc golf is still open during winter months.
Really nice park! We will def go back. Loved this bit of history, the water level on the bldg. Their campgrounds are awesome! The canola fields really beautiful.
A beautiful state park by the Mississinewa Lake. Very well facilitated campsite with clean and hot shower. One of the best places in Indiana for boating and disc golfing.
This is a close convenient campground for us. It has a very nice size reservoir for boating! The campground is well maintained. This state park has some full hook up sites available. I think there are only 2 other state parks in Indiana that have full hook ups. There are hiking trails that go around the lake. A camp store is located nearby and is well stocked. There is another camp store just outside of the park by the main entrance that has some food and ice cream.
Many of the bathrooms were just a small step up from the vault toilets. Other than that, it was very nice. I think the best part was that there was no cell service! 😁 …
Did this suddenly become one of my favorite places to hike in Indiana? No, but it's a nice area that is less crowded than major state parks like Turkey Run or Brown County. We did the Blue Heron trail, which was relatively flat and offered some great picnic spots and views of the lake via some spur trails. The disc golf course was also a highlight. It started off easy, but quickly opened up into some very long and challenging holes - offering more than just the par 3s I've become accustomed to in courses around Indianapolis. On the negative sides, almost no one was wearing a mask, not even the gate attendant, which is something I hadn't experienced at any of the other state parks or recreation areas I've been to recently. And if you want to check out some really unique rock formations nearby, you should check out the Seven Pillars Nature Preserve which is less than 15 minutes away.
Very beautiful. Four major trails smallest at 1.5. Friendly environment and awesome selection for anybody. Pet friendly and had a great time. Love that give out maps of the area and the trails.
Great beach. Never really crowded if you go early enough. There's a nice long stretch and room for lots of people.
Very nice..beautiful..clean..good fishing.nice beach..will and have recommended to friends and family wish they would have more rustic or primitive sites for more privacy
The whole place is amazing. Everything is very clean. We rented a cabin on a pond this visit. We are buying a camper soon and can't wait to go back.
Planned a girl's day and went to the Mississinewa Beach. We had a good time and the beach wasn't crowded.
Loved the beautiful lake. Beach was closed, but was a nice walk anyways.
Very nice as always. Love fishing at the spillway. Nice new rest rooms close to our camp site. Wish there were more trails.
The kids had a great time always fun times
So great time but visiting at the campsite was a little odd. They have car passes but I thinks it's new but they could've handled it a little better otherwise it's clean, overall friendly staff, and beautiful sites well worth visiting.
Great place to camp and have fun.
Couldn't give it 5 stars because they really dont have many trails.
We go for the fall fest. Have been for over 8 uears. Always a great time. Friendly staff and good spots. Have to rent real early though.
Walked the blue heron trail, great views of the dam and reservoir, very sunny trail, not many biting insects
One of our daughters, three grandsons and two dogs. We had a wonderful time. Take the time and travel back in time at the Seven Pillars
We will go back, chillin atmosphere, relaxing good time
Beautiful place to be and see. The entire area is a hunters paradise. Lots of wildlife to observe. Can't wait to go back.
Great campground with newly renovated bathrooms. This place was top notch all around. The campground, the facilities, the beach, everything was clean and well cared for
I had a wonderful experience I went for the Halloween trick or treat today had out there my cousins were out there camping and I had a good experience I loved it and I'll go back many times over
Very well kept property and campgrounds. Plenty to do and see here. They even had a free fishing day contest and gave out great prizes to the biggest fish caught. The kids had a blast!!
Wonderful place to relax. You can swim, bike, hike at your leisure. Campgrounds are nearly kept and they offer cabin rentals.
Only 1 trail of note, called the Blue Heron Trail. Has a quaint private "beach" about half way in that is a nice place to go for a swim. Not a place I would regularly return to hike, for the lack of variety, but a fun place to visit for a quick easy hike.
The cabins at the campground were just what we needed for a week getaway for our family. The campground was very clean and made the stay very nice. The beach is close and the kids had a blast!!
Good visit but cos and dnr over stepped the law a bunch, no control of campers on a equal level
This is a clean Beach with restroom and showers.. our family enjoyed the day
Neat lake area. Haven't been before this visit, so wasn't sure of the best place to explore, but the area has some awesome wildlife.
Really enjoyed our time. Campground and guests were nice. Guests were polite and quiet. Beach is big.
Went camping with our family and had a blast. was the first time that we stayed at this campground. the reason for 4 star review is just off a couple things. one was the lady when we first pulled in friday was very rude and sassy. the camp store didn't have any charms, medallions, smaller itemed souvenirs. they only had the t-shirts. which I did buy 2 one for myself and one for my husband because they are cute. would kind of recommend maybe having at least a couple plus sizes on a few of the shirts. when we went they all stopped at 2x, some also didn't even go to 2x and stopped at a L or XL. oh and one other thing, when we pulled in at 1:45pm friday, the newer bathrooms that were close to our site were not open yet, which was a bummer as we had to go use either the pit toilet or drive around the whole campground to the other side to use the other restrooms. I am sorry, but they saw how many people were booked on the one side, and that there was already quite a few people that were there, the restrooms should have been open. I will applaud though that the restrooms were nice and clean, very spacious and I LOVE the fact that the new ones at this location have individual showers WITH LOCKING DOORS and not those cheap barely covering shower curtains that a lot of campgrounds have. overall not a bad experience, just some things could be worked on
Went there for 4th of July. Very clean, water was great. Kids had lots of fun. Picnic area with shade.
I loved camping here, such a beautiful property, everyone was super nice and helpful since I had never been there before.
The grounds and park are nicely kept. It is awesome that they offer seasonal full hookup and regular campground full hookup. The staff were helpful, friendly, and polite. This ratingvall comes down to the shower houses and vault toilets for me. They haven't really changed in 15 years; the showers are still the push button kind that turn off in 15 seconds. The toilets are not in the same room as the showers. The vault toilets are not cleaned often and are full of drain flies. If I come back, I will likely either get a full hookup site or get a site closer to a shower house.
Nice place to camp. Clean restrooms and showers. Full hookup. Had a problem with an odor from somewhere.
Great place to go camping, hiking, and swimming. Wish they would put sand down on the beach. Those rocks hurt and we found one that was big and would have torn someone’s toes or feet up bad. My suggestion is to wear sandals on the beach and in the water otherwise your feet will be hurting and might get cut on a rock.
It was absolutely the only problem that we had was there a week was Sunday through Wednesday not Monday through Thursday which means that if you decide to go camping Wednesday Thursday your prices areSaturday it's more like 23 or $25 something like that which I have a problem spending that much camping but other than that it was absolutely beautiful it is a must see to go to the seven pillars it's free and the kids and I absolutely loved swimming at theto our campsite there was a deer standing staring at us the deer are so used to people that you can spot them everywhere
Such a great time at the beach!!
Had a great time with family last year. The park was packed but the bathrooms were nice and the showers. Kids had fun in the water and the trails were nice.
Beautiful and so peaceful loved seeing the animals and the park was very clean and inviting.
Great time camping with friends! A very large campground. Showers and restrooms could use a refresh.
Very enjoyable evening spent with family. Clean and proud park and staff!
The Halloween trick or treat was awesome!!!
Only one here in mid-November! A bit shut down but still a beautiful park!
Greatest place for water skiing ect. Nice area for mushroom hunting
Always clean, always beautiful, plenty of room on the beach so you don't feel like you're posted up on top of anyone else. My favorite local vacation spot.
Nice park, but very flooded! I hope this rain lets up soon and the flood waters recede.
Full hook up. Nice friendly people. Our childern enjoyed the with the orher children at the park , spaces are bigger then any RV park we ever stood.we definitely will book again.
Where's a great place to visit and have fun with the family swimming hiking fishing and camping
Nice long groomed Beach. Great swimming area and. Sidewalks to parking lot. Many picnic tables jist off beach area.
Awesome property!! Very well managed. A must see 👀 …
We visited campers in the park for the evening. Even though we were visiting for a few hours we paid $7 to enter the park. We enjoyed Nature Jeopardy with the family lead by park personnel. A fun learning experience. (The peony is the Indiana state flower.) The park was very full but quiet for so many people. Cell phone reception is awful so it's a good time to unplug!
Campground was nice. Campsite was a lot larger than others we have been to. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was essy to get in and out of the gates and they provided directions without being asked. The lake was busy but still able to have a good time. The beach was good sized.
Great place for camping and fishing and they are slowly but surely making it nicer and nicer each time I visit..
It's not a bad beach but the first 3 feet into the water has a ton of rocks. recommend water shoes.
Clean, well kept grounds. Friendly, helpful staff. However, there's only supposed to be 2 vehicles at each site and that rule clearly wasn't being enforced. Made for small and tight camping quarters. Also the lake was great! Lots of little coves with shallow areas to park the boat and relax in the water. Nice beach area and multiple launches. I'll definitely go back and would recommend it.
We only stayed one night at this campground. From our experience, it was clean and well organized. There are plenty of restrooms and drinking water stations as well asshower houses if you are tent camping or have an electric only site. Sites are spacious and flat. Many people brought their boats to use on the lake. There is an amphitheater and the rangers gave a few programs on Saturday evening during the time period we were there. There are several trails for hiking, a few rental cabins and an 18 hole Frisbee golf course. I also saw on the map that there is an archery range, but we didn't go, so I have no experience with this. There is a small grocery/convenience store just before turning into the park. There are no gas stations nearby so if you are trying to decide whether to stop and get some beforehand, I would highly recommend it! We did not receive a good cell signal while there.
Showers were a little dirty, bathroom was pretty clean. Seamless check in and check out.
Nice reservoir with good picnick areas. But the lake is full of motorized water craft so it's not super good for fishing or canoeing. There is a swim area that's not bad. But the beach associated with this is terrible is gravel mix with dirt. They should use some real sand.
Awesome fireworks show again this year. Always a wonderful day spent at the beach with the family.
Average park, great views, but that's about it. The trails were boring
Clean, maintained, quiet campground. Easy check-in. Friendly campers. We had a lovely weekend!
This recreation area has a few things to offer if you're looking for summer fun. A boat ramp, a decent beach, several designated fishing piers or areas. Unfortunately their crappie pond is no longer regularly maintained so be sure to bring weedless or top water lures. In all, I would say this is an okay place to bring your family for summer fun.
A monumental day of a babtism for my two friends. Love this place!!
Nice, clean campground. Saw DNR personnel driving through several times each day. Store not very well stocked (maybe due to end of season?).
We will definitely be back.
Great place! Been coming here for 46 years! Something for everyone. My only complaint is the state eliminating the Primitive Campground! So very, very, wonderful memories. It was where people camp and enjoy the time together, without having to break the bank!
We started at one of the cabins and it is very cute and clean. My kids enjoys it very much.
I love mississinewa. Great place to camp, cook out, boat, jet ski and disc golf. They have great cabins to rent or bring your camper. Good trails and good hunting ground. Well that's for bow season. I wouldn't hunt there during rifle season.
My hometown area. Beach, disc golf, camping. Only missing a star because all the playground areas are really small. We love visiting the spillway and just sitting and watching the water.
Watched the fireworks..they were great. Only complaint is would like easier access to bank fishing.
Just a heads up, most people refer to this place as missenewa, and this may help you on navigating this park. This is a highly populating camping ground, so if you want something more peaceful and naturey I would advise you to find somewhere else. With that being said they provide a very quality campground, a great fishing lake, and with the ever expanding disc golf course there is a lot available for campers.
This is such a beautiful park. It is very peaceful and well maintained.
This is such a beautiful reservoir. Great fun at the Beach . The Marina has boat rental and shopping , campgrounds , staff to aid in activities throughout the summer. A great place to park the RV or spend the day with family.
Get place to lay out or enjoy a refreshing dip!!
Amazing clean beach. No seaweed. Nice camping areas. Perfect place for outside partys picnic tables pavilions.
This weekend was packed. I think there needs to be more picnic tables. I don't think people should be able to pull 5 and 6 tables together I think it should be limited. We all pay the same price too get in and it really was a bit ridiculous how people was acting. The park is really nice and very clean.
Went camping over memorial weekend. Such a nice little campground. My entire family had a lot of fun. The camp sites are nice and spacious. It has been a family tradition for as long as I can remember to go out here camping. And it shall continue on for many many more years.
Very well maintained. We had a nice quiet and restful stay. Cell signal is minimal to nonexistent but that isn't necessarily a bad point. We will definitely stay again.
Beautiful Park very well camp and maintain outstanding Reservoir
Great staff. Grounds were well taken care of. The descriptions of the campsites need a bit of work. Ours was labelled as full shade all day but the only shade we got was early morning and late afternoon and just on one edge of our site. The beach was great. Water was really clean with no seaweed anywhere. The "sand" could use a little work but otherwise great place to hang out and beat the heat.
RV parking is great! Spaces are... spacious! Not crammed together. Lots of sunny spots or shade, whatever you want. Nice big beach area.
Fun place for the family to visit and enjoy the water.
This place is really great I always have a fun time at the beach at this place. The beach is sometimes kinda dirty but I always see people out there trying to clean up. The camping sites are really nice me and my family always get a electric site. The bathrooms are really clean as well. Overall a really good experience.
I had so much fun there with my sister and friends. Saw a snake so I got scared but it was nice because it was so hot today.
I love it we go there every summer. Its clean and beautiful
We had a great time camping here. Also went out on the water with our kayaks. Lots of things to do or not if you just want to sit around your campfire. Will be back.
Have been going there for around 30 years, remember the trees being just small trees and now all grown up. About the only time I make it now days is the first two weekends in October for the autumn camping weekends, such a wonderful time, good atmosphere especially if you like the fall and Halloween, good time for kids to enjoy Halloween.
I plan on coming for many more years to come, my kudos to the staff and volunteers who make this all happen!
This place was great, quiet and clean. Their restrooms could use a little more attention because of the messy people using them! We stayed in a cabin and it was very nice, bigger than what the pictures show and very clean. A raccoon came to visit us at night and stole marshmallows, so remember to keep your food inside.
We really enjoy having the Woodman come to our site so we don't have to carry wood in our vehicles. We also like the privately run camp store and the food they prepare for you. Nice not having to cook breakfast some mornings. The camp ground sites need attention as far as new gravel and drainage. They seem to be working on these things but slowly. The camp ground is pretty quiet for the most part too.
Seven Pillars Miami County of Indiana. Also Miami Indians are also located in the same area.
We had a Great time at the beach!!
Went on July 4th was busy but not overcrowded. Family and I had a good time.
Perfect place to bring the family. Parking lot is far away from beach. But there are picnic tables and plenty of space to stretch out those little legs! The beach is beautiful and is a great place to swim or lay out.
There is bathrooms and shower rooms. Also a family bathroom on each side. Clean area and clean bathrooms. Maintained and in great condition.
There is an ice cream and little shop area right by the bathroom and pavilion area. Inexpensive and good ice cream!
The campground is nice and we'll maintained. The restrooms have flush toilets/urinals and showers are in the same building.
There's allot to do at the park, swimming at the beach, hiking/biking, frisbee golf, boating, kayaking, wave runners.
There's limited availability for renting a pontoon boat too.
Compared to some other state parks, this is one of the better ones to keep you entertained.
I go here to hike. They have a few nice trails that I love to hike on. The blue herring trail is lovely for a nice walk. Just about anyone can tackle it. The lost sister trail is a bit more difficult but not too bad. Each trail is just over two miles. Lots of wildlife to see. I always feel safe here. There are balls eagles to look out for, lots of herrings and other birds as well. Always see deer. Snakes and bee hives. It's a nice place.
Winter Pool at the Mississinewa Beach, 3/30/21.
Very low.
Amazing place to go has everything. Camping, fishing, swimming, hiking, or just getting away for awhile. Very polite and I have grown up knowing that as our summer hangout can't go wrong visiting here
Beautiful! Great family memory♡
Mississenewa reservoir is a nice area in general but the facilities at the Miami recreational area are really nice. The campgrounds are clean & spacious & you feel like your actually camping in a natural, wooded setting rather than the back part of some local trailer park like some of the other state ran reservoir properties close by.
The beach is really nice with a nice beach house & camp store.
There are numerous hiking trails & the disc golf course.
They have all manner of campsites including the little cottages you can rent.
It really is a very nice facility.
Park was clean, well maintained. As busy as they were. Seen dnr and sheriff presence. Was crowded but easy to get to the water. People friendly and respectful añd decent.Very relaxing weekend.
Five stars. It may not be the ocean, but it is a beach and it's decently maintained. While some would complain about certian natural aspects, it's nice to have a beach that's only a 15 minute drive instead of driving hours to go elsewhere.
This park has so much to offer. Hiking, a beach, camping, and boating. They have Autumn Fest the second Saturday in October every year. People decorate their campsites and pass out candy to the trick or treaters.
I brought my family here for the weekend in June 2016. Aside from the muggy, hot weather, it was wonderful. We were lucky because we discovered that we needed an additional campsite and we wanted to keep our two sites together. The staff was very accommodating to help us out.
Disc golf! Go check it out amazing course. Stay out of the extra lettered holes if not very experienced! Mid summer the rough is very thick and you can lose some plastic.
Camping was really good. Clean and the bathroom are keep up with. Plenty of places to camp and launch boats. Recommend the launch near the beach. The beach however was rough. Large rocks all over the bottom. Making it rough to get in and out. Constant DNR traffic monitoring park. Good or bad depending on the type of camper you are. Easy in and out and there is a small store onsite but a bit pricey.
My family has been coming here to camp every year in the fall for as long as I can remember. We have built tons of memories. One of our favorites is the disc golf course, it's massive and the walk is gorgeous
This is a really nice state park with plenty to do. The beach area is nice and there is plenty of open area around for kids to run, to have a cookout, or have a get together. The camping area is nice and they have a lot of sites available. Some with power, water, etc if needed. Cell service for most carriers is spotty here due to the location so be prepared to be disconnected for your stay. I personally enjoyed that part, but I realize some professions need to be able to be reached at all times is the only reason I mention that.
One of my favorite camping areas
Always have a great time there. Fireworks were great!
I gave 3 stars because this is a very nice campground with lots of amenities. However it loses 2 stars, should be more, for the terrible customer service. I have had several experiences with them that were definitely not good. They are rude. I am thankful that you can do most of your dealings with them online so you should not have to work with them directly, but if you have to, be certain they are not there because of their customer service skills.
Nice place to camp and fish. Wish speed was more enforced cause some act like they are exempt from the 10 mph. but other then that we always habe fun there.
We took a picnic lunch to the observation mound and enjoyed it very much!
This is a well kept area and the scenery is beautiful!
It's worth the trip!
Catch a lot of fish they're little but if you're not keeping them you're good I've seen people catch larger fish but this time I went for instance there was a lot of little worm stealing fish areas well kept up really good nice and clean I wish people were more respectful of others but that has nothing to do with how the area is or the place is beautiful good family place to go take the kids or just to be Alone
Love the wild life.
We love camping here. Two things I’d like to see improved: 1. The beach building to be updated. It is old and very run down. The store seems pieces together inside a crumbling structure. 2. The disc golf course to be mowed more regularly.
Very clean campground. Stayed on a Tuesday through Friday. Very quiet. Nice trails. Cute, well-stocked camp store near camp beach. RV sites are nice. Pretty location. Would definitely stay again.
Although there is a password for WiFi, we haven’t been able to get WiFi in the 3 years we’ve camped there. We are always told they’re working on it. We weren’t able to get any tv reception either. The showers are in definite need of updating. The campgrounds are always clean. Most sites are pretty level. Some are spaced nicely and others are too close together.
My family visits here about once every other year. Decent camping, lots of activities. They had a fire truck and water activities when we went this time as well as archery and corn hole tossing. The staff was really friendly. Like...there's a difference between doing your job well and being genuinely friendly and these people were both. Decent trails. Water is kinda gross...but you are swimming in a lake full of fish so that really isn't an issue. When compared to Turkey Run or Spring Mill...this place doesn't have very many unique features. But if it's close and you are looking for a inexpensive get away with the family where the staff is super friendly...this place is definitely a winner.
The campground is one of the few DNR properties that has full hookups on some sites. It's a huge campground and can get pretty busy. I have not hiked there but heard the trails may not be kept up well, bit again I've not verified that. I would definitely camp here again.
Alert!! This IS the beach. I struggled trying to find this area, google maps takes you to an area which was blocked off but eventually rerouted me to the correct area but be warned! It is difficult to find if you and the people you are with dont remember where it's at BUT once you get there it is absolutely beautiful. The bathrooms looked like they've been recently replaced but there aren't hardly any employees to maintain them however if you have little ones keep a close eye on them because when I was there, for whatever reason, there was no life guard on duty. Overall it was a great experience and I'm already planning on going back!
We have come here for 17 years!
Love it..clean.. friendly..love the lake!..meet a lot of people..cute camp store..hike..bike trails..2 boat ramps haven't been down to beach in years...last time was when kids were little..so about 11 years ago..it was infested with centipede like things. And not sand but more like gravel..just watch for RACOONS!! but soooo much fun!
Beautiful scenery. Relaxing, calming environment. Access to showers. Electricity, store with great ice cream, food and supplies on site. I recommend going for tye day or if your spending the night. Fun family and safe.
I love this place always good time disc golf beach and good people
Love taking the whole family, including the fur babies, to enjoy camping, playgrounds, walking about, the beach, and the great outdoors. Trick or Treating for Halloween was perfect! Our 3 year old had the best time!
This is a really nice, clean and well cared for park. Ammenities included: camping, snack bar, outdoor showers, boat launch, fishing peirs, lots of different water environments, tons of parking areas, wooded environments. Great outdoor area for families and individuals.
I would give this park 5 stars but paying 7.00 just to enter the area and fish for a couple hours ads up over time. It is worth it but I just want everyone to be aware of the fee because it isn't posted anywhere.
Wonderful campground. Thanks
This is a beach and group campsite, and more importantly, the only group campsite in the park. However, it is intended for nonprofits with children. This creates a number of problems, because if you want to go with more than 12 people it starts to look like your only option. Further, alcohol is not allowed in this area of the park. Also, the person who confirms you are a nonprofit was very demanding and rude, and lastly most of the people at the park don't even know this is also a campsite, not just a beach.
What did this mean for me? Well, 2 weeks before I went I was told I would have to confirm my nonprofit status by mail, or would lose the reservation. Okay, sure I understand. Could they have asked for this proof via email, or by mail when I made the reservation 6 months prior? Would've made my life easier. Then we get there, and immediately meet with the DNR officer on site because "there were a bunch of teenagers drinking and camping on the beach" both of which were false. The DNR officer was very helpful and polite, as he'd been through it all many times before.
All in all, the trip was a ton of fun and I'd gladly go back again, but if the people running the park intend to be so particular about the rules for the site I feel that they should also offer alternative options for group camping than just Youth Tent Sites.
Family Friendly, Swimming area is clean and the water Does Not have any steep drop offs Bonus if you have small children.
And most importantly, it is reasonably priced.
Wished the camp areas were bigger/ had more privacy.
Sandy beach and picnic area in North Central Indiana?! Yes please! I have lived in IN my whole life and did not know there was something like this so close, 45 minutes from our house! Kids loved the beach and water. Honestly, so did the parents. Next time we will check out the cabins or primitive camping sites and stay overnight!
loved the water but bathrooms and showers need cleaned very badly, our camp site was spacious but had many raccoons that bothered us through the night with no warnings or signs
I love how they have the best 4th of July the weekend before, it's amazing!
There is tremendous amounts of land to hike through and it just doesn't feel like this is in Indiana!
Great camping sites, beautiful water and most sites were taken. Lots of kids riding bikes and family walks, pet friendly!
We will definitely be camping there again.
My chidren & a couple of their friends had a blast at the beach here at Mississenawa Reservoir. Going early & duting the week made it more fun due to less people. We practically had the beach to ourselves! The only downer was a lot of timber had been cut along the Blue Heron Trail that is a favorite place for us to hike.
My husband &I love our time out today ..!!
Great place to go swimming, camping fishing, hiking, and boating. Beautiful woods. Nice and clean.
Clean and beautiful. Need to make handicap sidewalk to the program area from campground
Great place for camping. Staff is friendly. Park is clean. The beach is nice and relaxing. The cabins are great option if you don't own a tent or RV.
Great place to take the family for camping, swimming at the beach, hiking, etc. Very clean environment. Beach don't have all the big rocks like the Salamonie has.
This is an excellent place to take your family and spend some quality time away from the hustle and bustle of the city lights and traffic. Admission rates are reasonable and in celebration of Indiana's Bicentennial Indiana library patrons can check out a "parks pass" throughout 2016 that will allow them and their guests free admittance.
We absolutely love this area. We enjoy being outdoors. They have some nice trails to walk.
The Lost Sister Trail, and The Blue Heroin Trail are our favorites.
Nice campground. Staff was friendly and helpful. Periodic patrols for safety. Numerous activities for people to choose from.
The beach is nice and clean. The camp sites have plenty of space and shade. Bathrooms are clean. All around a wonderful park.
Our family has always had an enjoyable, relaxing time here. With grills already in place, it's easy to spend a whole day here doing nothing but enjoying the ambiance.
Lots to see, huge park, clean restrooms. One of my favorite places to camp for a quick weekend getaway.
Went to the fireworks display. It was great! As for the "beach"....... I grew up near the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico with their pristine white sand beaches. So dirt and gravel don't work for me. 😕 …
We had a great time. There is so much to do here. The lots we stayed on were nice and big. The public bathroom and showers were a little dirty though.
The park is kept up really nice for the just part. The showers could use a bit of work though
One of our favorites for camping, fishing, hiking, exploring...and a really nice beach. There's so much to do!!
Kept sat I need directions to misasinawa beach we eventually found it wish I knew it was called Miami state recreational park. AND I WAS USING GOOGLE MAPS. I had a good time though.
Very nice, quiet, and just an over all beautiful place.
Even has a boat wash off station!
Super cozy will consider just another trip next year!!
This was such an awesome little campground, and a great place to stay! There are trails by the campsites to hike, a beach, and a cute camp store. The people there are super nice, and it's a great place to camp!
We love the beach area. Also enjoy hiking the Blue Heron trail and the Lost Sister's trail.
Beautiful place to camp 😍 …
Great place for ALL out your outdoor activities! Camping, boating, swimming, fishing, hiking or any outdoor family activity. If you want to go alone for solitude it's a great place for that as well
Beautiful park. Very clean and neat. Some of the guests camping were very rude playing loud music late into the evening. Where was the DNR?
Nice place. Sites aren't to bad. Some sites r rocky but other than that very nice place to camp.
The property is always maintained and looking nice. They are always trying to improve the park and trails, either expanding them or making sure they are maintained and working properly.
This is a great campground, perfect for your family to go and have fun!
Great camping, fishing and disc golf
So much to love about the park. Hiking, camping and kayaking keeps us coming back. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable.
Great place good fun
Great place to camp in the fall. The locals really enjoy decorating for Halloween. Great time with the kids and grandkids
We were at campsite 233. The bathhouse near us was not cleaned the whole weekend! Completely disappointed!
Larger than expected, real nice
Beautiful! Just simply a beautiful place to visit and hangout. Take a hike, go down set by the water, view the lake from the pavilion you’ll fall in love with this place, too!
Love mississinewa, staff etc is super friendly and love that you can shower there and also the store on site makes everything so convenient .
Every thing out there is great just that DNR needs to chill some... The park is not a weekend pass for old people to sleep early and everyone else has to be quite cause they het disturbed by the so called noise
Beautiful and amazing place! We watched a deer swim from one side of the water to the other.
This place is amazing! Great trails to hike. Great place to camp and also a nice beach to swim at
best clean and safe place to take ur family to camp have fun and shown the ropes of life
Great place to take your kids camping, fishing, hiking, swimming, boating, tubing. You name it and you can do it here.
Nice walk around, a little treasure hunting, good after o_O.
Had a great time visiting the kids and grandkids at their camp site today and even got to throw a line in and catch a fish on the free fishing weekend.
Very nice beach.would have been better if there were some trash cans around.
One of the only handicapped accessible fishing piers I am aware of! Located in a scenic portion on Mississinewa Reservoir well work checking out.
Beautiful park, campsite was full-hookup, site number was hard to see. Easy to get to park.
Good place to camp! Beach is rocky but nice .
Very nice campground. Bathhouses and bathroom very well kept. Wide roads and awesome campsites.
The place is amazing. I just dont like you can't make or recieve and emergency calls or texts. Wifi does not work. Otherwise very beautiful and fun place.

Very nice campground. We love it here! We have camped here for the past 25 plus years.
Clean and spacious, lots of attention has been given this lake and campgrounds. Very nice.
We had a great weekend there. Most of the people you camp next to are considerate. The shower are not to bad.
Plenty o fishin. Great campsite . They have made it nicer after the flooding a couple years back
Very nice .
Not a bad campground. Due to flooding, the beach and boat dock were closed. The only notification we received of this was upon arrival for our reservation.
Had a great time swimming in the lake and picnicking on the beach. Wasn't too crowded, we all had a great time!
Always love this place we have been going there for years. Wonderful place for some good r and r and good times out on the water.

Great family fun spot. Fishing, swimming, camping, we always have a great time here!
Great except when people think it's ok to bring their dogs on the beach. Signs are posted but the dog owners are ignorant or just choose to ignore them.
Love the beauty of this place. It's hard to get a signal on the phone which is fine with me.
Love camping here.
Peaceful, not a lot of boats on the water and clean. There could be some buoys around coves with sand bargs.
Beautiful big lake, many nice camping sites. Very well maintained property.
