Reviews of McCormick's Creek State Park
michiganamygirl
This was one of the better parks I have been to. The scenery is beautiful. Nice hiking trails that were definitely a challenge for a semi-accomplished hiker. There were lots of photo opportunities. I was leery of the pack in pack out of trash because many places I’ve been have trash receptacles throughout and still people throw their trash on the ground. I must say their way seems to work as I saw little trash along the trails or on the ground. Quite impressed with how little trash their was.
The rustic campgrounds were nice. I seemed a little unlucky in the neighbor department but all in all they were nice. The vault toilets there were actually some of the nicer ones that I’ve used. The only downside to camping in the primitive campgrounds were the lack of showers. I did find the centennial shelter had a real bathroom so it was worth a stop in for hand washing. Also lightning bugs galore.
Dustin Hirner
I typically enjoy this park in the summer but this winter hike did not disappoint either. Be sure to check out Wolf Cave, the main falls (off trail 3 that begins at the Inn) and all the cool CCC structures from the 1930’s. In the summer time, you can navigate many of the canyon streams too.
The Traveling Mommy
It was very pretty especially the time of year we visited. The wolf cave was pretty neat to see and go through. The trails are not marked super well on some of the trails though and it’s not really rugged. It’s a very easy laid back state park but still very pretty and 15 minutes from cataract falls. So not a bad place to stay at all! But if your looking for exciting trails this is more of a milder park.
Lorie Van Hook
Love Canyon Inn. Hiking is fantastic with easy and rugged trails. Wildlife is all around, birding is fun and with so many acres, you can get in a nice cardio activity. The creek is beautiful and lots of landscape to photograph.
Marsha Moore
Beautiful park. Very busy over the weekend but weekdays very pleasant. Campsites are really packed in tight .Would like to see more space between camp sights. Really would be nice to have more pull through sites and some full hook up sites. I would recommend a visit in spite of the crowd.
Sandra Gill
Beautiful grounds, alot of trails for all levels of hikers. There are stables for horse back rides. Just alot to do to fill your entire time. Wolf Cave was narrow and impassable due to raining the previous day, but we still attempted, and had great time and lots of laughs. Great place!
Brittany Clay
Nice trails, well maintained, wolf cave was really cool, and you're able to walk through the cave. Stayed in the cabins, they were clean and fairly comfortable!
Iwona J Rogers
We had our family reunion at the Red Bud shelter at McCormick Creek recently. What a wonderful place. The woods are beautiful. In the evening you can hear all manner of tree frogs and crickets and other little bodies. The camping spots were brilliant. The one we stayed at was almost perfect. Very level for our trailer. And beautiful.
james boyd
This is just one of the many state parks in the beautiful state of Indiana. The park is small, but makes up with beauty. The trail to the falls is easy to walk and well marked with a stunning overlook. Should you take the steps, which are steep but easy to navigate and will be worth your time and effort. If you are a waterfall lover this needs to be on your list if visits.
Heather Ison
Beautiful fall colors. The trails are nice and very well marked. The campground is well taken care of. We will definitely be back.
Brad McCann
Beautiful park. The water fall was pretty. The trails we walked were very nice but not handicap accessible. Lots of stairs.
Ashley Barnhart
Very fun place to visit only down fall is the trails are all separated you have to do a trail then get in ur car to drive to the next one
Brenda Kaye
Have hiked, had picnics, camped, swam, and ridden horseback here. It's a wonderful place with native Indiana foliage. The woods are wonderful to walk thru, with trails marked throughout. Our entire family loves this State Park.
Melanie Murphy
The park is stunning with the creek and deep woods hikes. The waterfalls and unique creek hike are beautiful and fun. The wolf cave brought an adventure my kids will never forget! Wonderful state park!
don dep
Very nice park with good hiking. Most trails are gravel and a few paved which makes for easy and pleasant hiking. Be careful picking a camp spot as many sites have trees blocking access and making backing your trailer or RV into the spot much like navagating an obstacle course and in fact, while we were there, we saw an RV scrape a tree while backing into a site.
allen st.clair
Beautiful place, very peaceful. Cave, waterfall, trails, camping, horseback riding. I def recommend going here.
Rob Stoffel
Beautiful park with many great hiking trails. We also rented one if the Family Cabins and it was nice and fairly clean.
Captain Silvers
Absolutely loved the staff and the grounds. DNR was unbelievably knowledgeable and very accommodating. Plenty of activities and space for leisure camping. Or just finding a nice spot for a day trip to relax and catch some incredible views. Will certainly be returning!
Denise Ridener
Easy access from parking to trails. I love how close parking is to the waterfall. Trails are easily taken good for beginners. I have been enjoying this State park for I we 40 years. Growing up it was a weekly Sunday trip after church for picnic, hiking, and climbing the fire tower! The scenery is beautiful no matter what time of year! Looking for inexpensive day trip to enjoy with your family and connect with nature ? McCormick's Creek is your place !!
Dr. Aaron Campbell
It’s always a great time when we go to a state park in our great state of Indiana. We were here for a couple’s retreat and had a challenge to get pictures kissing in various places.
Jason Blake
Great time at the group cabins with our school trip. Very nice trails. Beautiful nature.
Madeline Roberts
Love this park! Awesome foliage in the fall. Good hiking and Wolf Cave is fun to explore as an introduction to caves/caving. Fairly busy on the weekends.
Dan Nitzsche
This has been an annual staple for our household. My wife and I have been going for years. They have beautiful hiking trails and a restaurant with great views of local wildlife. Great place for kids, we have taken all our children.
Joseph Tempio
Outstanding place to go camping & have been there several times.
Campsites are well maintained, not all are level but most campers can compensate.
Our site had newly upgraded electrical box and circuit breakers.
Showers & bathrooms are in excellent shape. This is a well run facility.
Allison Alumbaugh
Park itself is absolutely stunning! Way back in the woods.... But the campsites were tricky, a "pull-through" site with a tree in the middle at one end? And no grass at any site I saw for the 1 tent allowed per site?
Brigette Moore
Awesome place for hiking. Trail 3 was very scenic and not too rugged aside from the walk along the creek.
Duretta Branham
Our family has always loved coming to McCormicks Creek! Its so much fun and so beautiful !! Ive been coming here since i was a little girl and now i can share this place with my kids. There so much to do and fun for all of us. its pet friendly and my boys love all the dogs we get to meet along our hikes, the restrooms are very clean, there and many places to sit and eat and they are always clean as well. Most state parks we take bags and pick up along our walks and we seem to find way too much but here you can tell they do regular checks on every trail and shelters to make sure there isnt much trash. Thank you for all the years of memories !
Sharon Kilzer
Beautiful park. The camp spots are a little too close for my taste, and the bath houses are not heated, but other than that, it was nice.
Diana W
Great park for camping, hiking, and family fun in general. Dog friendly, regular trails as well as handicap trail. One can go a short trek through Wolf cave. Bring a flashlight! Lots of fun!
Andrew Raubuck
One of my favorite Indiana State Parks. Clean facilities. Plenty to do. We had a great time camping and hiking there this summer.
INDIANA JONES
Great, clean well maintained State Park /trails. Beautiful Inn with swimming pool, tennis courts. Trails are clean. We went down 2 trails. Trail 3 leads to the water. Has a great looking falls. Lots of people playing in the water. Check pictures out. Also check out camping prices on one of the pictures. Great public fire pit, Camp grounds, Camp store. You can also buy firewood for 6 dollars.
Steve Dixon
Enjoyed the trails , camping was great . Wonderful place to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life lots of wildlife
Lexi Jones
Beautiful, beautiful park with TONS of hiking areas and lots to do. Lots of places to play in the water. Staff is friendly and helpful.
My only complaint is you can’t have fires or grills at the cabins, you have to hope to find a grill not being used or go to a “community fire pit” near the Inn.
Emily Oakes
My husband and I had an enjoyable weekend here. We stayed at a campsite. The trails were really beautiful and I was very impressed. The only thing I didn’t like about our stay was that the public restroom would close twice a day, at inconvenient times. In the morning, we had to drive to a bathroom further away because the one by us was closed for cleaning.
Jim Tschetter
Nice place to spend a half day... Or full day. I really liked walking along the river from the bottom of trail 3 to the waterfall. It was a little crowded at the waterfall, but just walk away 50 yards and there was no one around.
KRAZYNUTZ
This Park Has Many Interesting Trails, Peaceful Waterfalls, Majestic Stone Ledges w/ Petrified Wood Layers! Children Enjoy Learning How to Navigate Running Creeks, Climb Hillsides, Steady Down the Rock Ledge!
Isis Cuevas
Great State Park to go hiking with the family Loved the waterfall ❤ great place to get away for a day or weekend. Worth the drive.
Alex Rittenhouse
Great time. Many many things to do. Hiking, pool, camping, events, kids outdoors learning classes, guided hikes, and more! Staff was extremely friendly and the park was clean, and quiet at quiet hours.
Derek Christensen
I had a great time walking the trails! Many photo worthy areas (when it's not so busy). Not much parking in popular areas so plan on walking to each trail head.
Nicholas John
Outside of normal campground things (people dumping trash in empty campsites fire pits, etc). It was great. It's not the biggest park but it has a lot of amenities. Fun hiking opportunities (caves, waterfalls, creeks). We had a good time. Oh yeah there is also some good history here. The old farm site, and the CCC architecture, are unique and worth checking out.
Kurt Brandon
Great park with hiking, pools, and a beach. We camped and the only issue was the water pressure in the shower house. One flush and you're down to a trickle😁 …
Nicholas Klein
Lots to do here and to come back again for! The waterfall is easy to get to and worth checking out. The Wolf Cave is also a fun experience, but be prepared if you crawl through to see lots of (harmless) spiders! Trail 5 from the parking lot leading to the Wolf Cave is one of my favorite trails I have seen.
Tim Kingsbury
For a short adventure; jog trail 4 to the Fire Tower. Heart-Loving fun! The stairs might feel steep; take your time on the steps.
Fredia
We went for the horseback riding, very reasonable price, guides were pleasant and efficient, nice relaxing ride through the woods, last about 50 minutes.
Lyana & Carissa
Lower falls were non-existent but the upper falls and covered bridge were beautiful! Very easy walk to the upper falls and decent walk to lower or option to drive to the lower falls.
Rachelle Parrish
We camped here for the weekend. Super clean sites and great people. Took a hike to the fire tower as well. Very pretty place.
Alex Williams
We hiked the Walf Cave Trail (Trail 5), which was moderately trafficked but still quite serene! After that, we hiked Trail 3, which goes through the canyon in the park. This trail, which is in my opinion the best in the park, is quite rugged and rocky. However, we saw just one other family during our hike and got amazing views! I highly recommend.
Howard Ely
We have visited this park for 53 years and it’s amazing! Ample trails, horse barn, Nature Center, Camp Grounds, Cabins including 2 large year round new family cabins, and the Canyon Inn which is fantabulous!! Staff at the Inn is top notch and goes all out to make your stay the best!!!
Part of our family stayed in a Family Cabin for Mother’s Day and it was great!!
Love McCormick’s Creek!!
Jay Steele
We hiked a bunch of the trails yesterday. Free admission into the park. We love the terrain and beautiful views. Had to cross a creek a few times. Nothing too bad. We had a little difficulty staying on Trail 10. It appears that the creek bed has been diverted. Lots of folks enjoying the park.
Kari Parker
We camped here for several nights. We are new to camping so we don't know all the ins and outs for sure! The park was nice. Nice scenery etc. The only reason I didn't give five stars was because the attendants in the campground check-in building were bordering on rude. A couple different ones at different times were short and snippy and just assumed we were veteran campers and acted as if we didn't know our head from a hole in the ground. We were more than satisfied with the front gate personnel and the campground host was a wonderful little lady that we talked to at length. We would come and stay again for sure but next time we would not put up with the crabby campground check-in people who obviously don't know what it means to be in the service industry where the customer is supposed to always be happy!
Mitchell Rohrbaugh
Really neat formations in that the ground is full of sinkholes of eroded limestone. On trail 5 there is cave you can crawl through... we did not. My knees would not have liked it. It was also full of families having lots of fun. There are several different trails, 10 I think, with different levels of difficulty ranging from wheelchair accessible up to very rugged. There are at least 2 camping areas and depending on the weather conditions and how dry it's been fires are permitted in those areas. There is an Inn and several shelters. It looked like there are several bathrooms throughout, many of which looked new. The park was very nice and we will probably check out other trails there.
Curt Gauen
There was so much to see and do. This place is clean, there is a lot of history, and the hiking trails are plentiful. We brought our pet dog and made a fun day of it with a picnic.
Max Hotz
A great place to visit and have a picnic. Beautiful scenery.
Michelle Roach
Enjoyed trail five 👍 there is a cave that you can walk-ish all the way through if you have a flashlight on your phone. If the creek is flowing the cave may have a bit of mud toward the end. Also, the waterfall overlook is a nice place to play even in lower water levels. Canyon inn is a great deal as well - check it out. …
Michelle Fowler
Our family had a great visit to this park yesterday. Great views, nice hiking trails, interesting sights like the old Quarry and sink holes in the forest, incredible cave experience through Wolf cave, and beautiful waterfall. We will definitely be back. I can't say enough about how great this park was for us: 2 moms & 6 kids 8-14. Neat and clean, including the restrooms near Wolf Cave parking. More info: Admission was free for some reason. When the map says "rugged" (Trail 10 for sure) potential creek fording may be needed (but was super fun). Also, you can go all the way through Wolf Cave (very tight squeeze, not for the claustrophobic types, one way direction, potential water in cave, crawl to exit), which is very cool and I am still geeking out about it. Bring a flashlight! The waterfall is pretty much open explore and our kids hiked all the way up to the bottom of the falls. Happy adventures!
Chris Pacifico
This was a very nice park with a variety of activities. The only thing that would make it totally amazing is to enter a few of the trails you have to go through areas that are rented by people for parties.
Christa Harness
It was beautiful! We rented a shelter to have my grand daughters sweet 16 party and even though it rained it was a huge success!
Deb O
We really enjoyed this park! We hiked trail 3 that went by the falls, and trail 5 that went by Wolf Cave. Trail 5 had lots of creek crossing and springtime flowers! It was a lovely hike. We stayed at the Canyon Inn and had a nice stay.
Melissa Wise
McCormick's Creek is a BEAUTIFUL park! There are many trails, so which lead to waterfalls and caves! They also have a nature center that is very informative about how the park came to be. There are a few live animals inside the nature center and a place to sit and relax while watching birds, squirrels etc. I highly recommend visiting this Indiana state park!
Justin Cochran
My 1st visit. Fantastic! Trail #5, wolf cave... loved it! Bring head lamp to explore cave. Creek crossings with rocks placed to cross with dry feet. Not difficult, but, there was challenge and excitement!
Eric Levin
This is one of my favorite State Parks! The limestone quarry, the falls, the nature center, the staff, all top notch. If you enjoy wildlife be sure to check out the Nature Center and the live animal observation area inside.
Amanda Niccum
Scenic and very beautiful. There is a lot to do that two days just wasn't enough! We camped in the primitive section and it was beautiful. Restrooms were kept clean and park was well maintained.
Dyana Hilliard
Beautiful place! Only spent one night there, but looks like a place where you would want to spend a week. Lots of trails, a pool, horseback riding, very nice terrain. Something for everyone. Nice showers!
Brad Roberts
Great hiking trails, and horse trails. There is a waterfall, and Wolf Cave. Picnic areas are plentiful. Peden Historic Farm, daughter of John McCormick.
Lucy Fischman
The stable staff was great. Make reservations to help them plan for your trail ride (though they do allow walk ins).
The Canyon Inn is also nice. Good buffet.
Vickie Williams
We had a multifamily reunion there and the shelter house was great and the restrooms were clean and stocked with toilet paper and paper towels to wipe on. Very grand experience on the playgrounds and trails. With highly recommend visiting again and again. 👍👍👍 …
David Henk
This was part of the Arts in the Park & Barbecue and Blues event. Great music and good food. The art showing was small but we found a beautiful ceramic wind chimes and some ear rings for a gift.
Maggie Thompson
Amazing state park with beautiful hikes and waterfalls! Parking right near the falls. There was no entrance fees when we arrived which was a plus! There is also an inn at the park with a gift shop and public restrooms. Overall I would definitely recommend this park especially for families!
Mr. Wiley
What a great place! It’s clean and the campsite was perfect. The weather didn’t hinder anything.
We hiked and loved all the trails. The bathrooms were always clean!
You must visit!!!!
Johnathun Harris
Was not able to explore the whole park the main goal was to see the waterfall. Was not disappointed, park was very clean with plenty of signs to get around. If you are close check them out.
Neha Shinde
Great weekend getaway into the forest. The hike to the waterfall is a bit rugged if you're not used to it. But the place is really scenic! And so many colorful mushrooms 🍄😍 …
Diana Ingemanson
Undisturbed forrest, vast variety of birds and flowers. This park is beautiful and Magical. Well maintained trails that find there way around McCormick's Creek and falls.
Stephanie Buffington
Every weekend my boyfriend and I choose a new place to go hike and explore. Neither of us had been here before and it was so much fun. We didn't expect Wolf Cave to be what it was. It was definitely an adventure we won't forget. I'll admit I did get a bit scared and my claustrophobia kicked in inside the cave, but we made it out just fine. There is so much to see and do. We'll definitely be back for more.
Sammi Hall
This was our first family trip to the campgrounds at McCormick's Creek, however my husband grew up coming here with his family. We had the most wonderful week camping here! The sites were very nice and private. The facilities were very clean. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers in the campgrounds. We have never seen bathrooms that nice and clean at any state park. The playgrounds were clean and provided lots of fun for our son. The trails are so nice and very well-maintained. Our 4 year old had no problem hiking any of the trails we took. Wolf Cave and the Falls are definitely worth seeing! Wolf Cave is quite a thrill and the Falls are so serene and beautiful. Even the dump station is very nice and well maintained. We had no problems at all with our 5 day stay at McCormick's Creek. The staff, facility and park are all so wonderful. McCormick's Creek is our new go-to campground for family camping trips, and we encourage all campers to stay there! You won't regret it!
Paul Seigle
Wonderful place to bring your familyany time of the year.
Great trail's with lots of things to explore.
Kathy M
Great place to go take the family for a weekend of camping or just to take in some nature. There are hiking trails, horses to ride, water falls to hang out in. The pool is Olympic size so there is a ton of room to enjoy. The nature center has a few turtles and snakes and lots of interaction to be had. The park has so many opportunities for fun. Take a day and go visit this jewel of Owen County.
Karen Boruff
This state park is beautiful. Lots of trails and has an outdoor recreation area. Die to the pandemic you need to bring your own tennis equipment and basketball though.
James Duffy
Great camping, dog friendly ,rest rooms a plenty near trails
Wonderful trails well marked and O what beautiful sites, better when not as dry .but still beautiful...
Rick Gatten
Many easy to moderate hiking trials and hilly enough to be able to view nice fall colors without driving all the way to Brown county! You have the waterfall and walking a creek bed which the kids love, a cave which the kids love even more and traiks along the White River which is my preference!
Matthew Long (Ryan Bayless)
McCormick’s Creek State Park is a very nice park to hike. The only other trails I can find similar is shades state parks and turkey Run state park. McCormicks Creek State Park has a nice restraint with nice rooms to rent if you need a place to stay. The bathrooms where clean and stocked with toilet paper what else could you ask for in a park with nice trials..
Elizabeth Burton
We love this place! We mostly go for the playgrounds and the walking trails, but there is so much more to do there! Love it there!
Opiclock
Okay so the parks are great however the bathrooms need some work as you can see in these pictures there is a ton of bugs lots of toilet paper on the floor and it is overall just gross, so I would read this a five stars if the bathrooms were clean
Stephen
The creek is so clear and peaceful. Plenty of trails for different skill levels. You can camp primitive, semi-primitive, or bring the RV. History buffs will enjoy learning about the origins of the park and wolf cave. We'll definitely be back!
Dan Franklin
A truly beautiful State Park. So much to see. We camped for the weekend, had a great time hiking and bicycling. I highly recommend trail 3 that goes through a canyon and leads to a waterfall. Great place to take kids to experience nature.
Ron Pettys
The first state park in Indiana and is one of the best parks in which I have ever spent time. Trails are excellent with splashes of history along the way. And for camping, there are many spots that are very private leading to less "noise pollution" from neighboring campers. A great place to visit and spend time.
Donald Pettingill
Great fall weekend at the camp grounds. Beautiful walking paths and large common areas with covered hang outs.
Michael Hughett
We really love this place. We have been coming here for many years. The lodge is beautiful and serves great food. They have buffet style meals or you can order off the menu. They also have a small selection of beer and wine.
The hiking is really fun. You can hike very easy trails, swim in the creek and enjoy the waterfalls. Walk the canyons and vistas. The nature center is fun and has some really nice and knowledgeable wildlife experts. There is nothing not to like about this park.
And there is also Tesla chargers at the Inn for patrons.
Lizzy Castillo
The talks are very well kept and numerous, and there are so many interesting things to do! -a cave you can actually walk/crawl through! A waterfall and place to swim and cool down and spend time with friends/family(including your furry family 😁). There are Really long series of stairs, the white river and multiple streams and amazing trees, even an old farmstead!
Ryan Young
I love this campground. Lots of tall trees for tons of shade. The campground is very spread out and you can go on many walks and not see the same things twice. Plus we were able to take trail #6 which was right by our site. This trail was perfect for a 3 year old. We also drive to the falls overlook which was near by. You can take the stairs down to the creek and go creek stomping in the falls. I enjoy rollerblading and the roads are smooth enough for me. I highly recommend this campground if you haven't visited it before. We will be back!
Follow up: We recently camped here again a few weeks later. We had camp sites 108/109. These sites were terrible. Our neighbors were basically on top of us. I love this park but some of the pictures don't show how your neighbors back right up to you. Book a campsite that is around the outside of the campground. The inside spots are crammed together. However, we found a new easy walking path connected to the campsite, take the following paths which are clearly marked, start at trail #8 then change to trail#5, then change to trail #7 and finally to trail C which is a connector trail. Have fun!
Gary Lawson
Great place to hike and take kids or dogs just wish that the trails was marked a little better
Thomas Overmiller
This is a fabulous park, cared for meticulously. Only $7 to enter. Offers ample green space for picnicking and a wonderful variety of hiking trails. Wolf Cave is especially fascinating, though it is a tight squeeze for adults and not all will be able to get through. The nature center is really well done, providing an engaging learning experience for children. The birdwatching station in the center is relaxing and noteworthy for sure. The entire park is spacious and peaceful.
Lester Burris
This is a very cool state park. There are some really hiking trails (that can be used for running as well). Wolf Cave is particularly neat as you can go point-to-point through it. The cascades are also cool and great place to hangout.
Aaron Martin
My wife and I have come here by ourselves and again with our 2 boys. Early October is really a lovely time to visit with all of the fall colors. Definitely very dry this year due to the lack of rainfall this season.
Bill Murphy
Beautiful McC C SP. Huge tree filled campground. Awesome lodge. Swimming pool. Scenic trails with a creek, river and waterfall. Indiana’s oldest SP. LOVE IT!!
Susanne Ressl
Beautiful park and great hiking opportunities. The paths are pretty wide and cater to many types of people and their abilities. Some paths are paved and would allow for adaptive sports.
Rohan Meher
Its justify the history of In diana's first state park. The biodiversity is very rich, tall trees, enough shadow while trekking. Restrooms and benches everywhere. Small creeks, wooden bridges and fallen trees makes beautiful photoshoot place. My 3 year old love this place and was able to trekk around1.5 miles on his own.
Matthew Latty
Indiana's oldest park. 1,900 acres. Lots of electric and primitive camping available. 90ft fire tower, cave, waterfall, canyon, lots of walking and equestrian trails, old quarry, second growth hardwood forest, top notch nature center, stable with horseback riding there ($20 per person) and a beautiful inn. One of Indiana's crown jewels.
John Kurton
Nice place to visit had lunch at the canyon Inn. Take away service only. Will probably go back when there are more leaves on the trees. May even stay overnight in one of their cabins so that we can spend some more time exploring the trails through the woods.
Don Annis
We go for the hiking trails. They have a nice range of difficulty to fit everyone's needs. There is one "trail" that is flat and asphalt paved for those that want or need that version (i.e. mobility limited folks). Then there are several others that are moderately more challenging. None are really difficult in this park. The trails are well marked and maintained. There are many informative signs to explain unique geography and features of this locale. We get here about once a year. There is a nice nature center with many educational exhibits of the regional flora and fauna. They even had wild animal feeders. We saw a raccoon enjoying his lunch. Restroom facilities were clean and neat.
Brecquelyn Burkhammer
Very clean Park. Easy to get to trails because of the signs posted also very trafficked in case you might not feel safe with being alone with children.
Becca Leary
LOVE this park! It was hot and humid but we still had fun hiking a few of the trails. The Wolf Cave was flooded so we only made it half through. Not a good place if you’re claustrophobic but still cool to check out a little ways in. The nature center is really nice and fun even for adults. Wear good shoes and be ready to get wet feet if you go on the trails near the creek beds.
Angela McGinnis (Angie)
Nice wide paths on the cave trail. Beautiful park. Love the water fall. Trails all marked well. Resting benches thank God on trail 5.
JD Fast
Another beautiful Indiana State Park. Unfortunately the water was low so the water fall was not running very fast. The lodge is spectacular and rivals the larger lodges located in the National Parks.
Phil Beeson
One of my favorite State Parks. Awesome scenery and great camping. Been here over 100 times over the past 40 years.
Maple Leaf
This is the largest state park I've been to. It is a beautiful park and clean. The campground is nice and fairly secluded.
Sandra Harrison
A nature enthusiasts paradise. Beautiful trails that lead to caves, waterfalls and forested areas. Birds, deer, raccoon, chipmunk and squirrels are to be seen. Trails are moderate to difficult, with a few with as many as 140 steps - however well worth the trip. Daily activities at the nature center!
Alicia Khemir
One of my favorite hiking spots near Indy! Always beautiful and so much to see!
My entire family loves crawling through the cave!
Get up, get out, get dirty!
Jase Rohde
Indiana's excellent state park system hits another home run with McCormick's Creek. Miles of trails at various skill levels allow you to take beautiful hikes through Indiana's stunning forests. The creek running through the park offers scenic views or a place to cool off on a hot day. We love to pack a lunch and bring our kids here on the weekends.
John W
Been coming here since we were kids. It has become a very important place to, what's now, 5 generations of our family.
Adam Sherrill
Very good place for hiking, and there is a very nice inn, as well as a recreation center, for people who want to stay the night. Overall, I would come again.
Bill Stumph
Had a beautiful drive through the park. The views from within the park were awesome! We walked a few trails, including one that lead us to a cave, which we spelunked, and safely made it through. Impatient for the cave, my sons hid inside a tree. What a fun park.
Karl Matney
McCormick's Creek is a really nice park close to Indy. It's a nice drive and the trails have lots of great views. Trail 3 follows the creek up to the falls. There's stairs down to the creek where you can get a great view of the falls.
Douglas McLean
5 days in one of the family cabins #10 specifically.
This was a great vacation for me! I was able to wonder the trails in the park, relax in a quiet cabin and just let go! Spending the second week in May was ideal. It was so quiet! Out of the 14 cabins in the area there was only one other cabin occupied at the same time during our stay. Even when there was another visitor across from us, the reclamation effort of letting plantings grow in an open area helped keep us from staring at each other. One night a thunderstorm with 60+ mph winds blew through. The power went out (not just the park, but in the surrounding area) so we lit candles, turned up the fireplace and fell asleep to the rain in our private little part of the forest. The facilities have been recently updated and the cabin was cleaner than some hotels I've stayed in. Can't wait to do this again!
Talia Stevens
Beautiful park with lots to offer! We hiked trail 5, which includes Wolf Cave. It's two miles and intermediate. My 8 and 4 year olds were able to complete the hike, although they were dragging a bit by the end.
Also visited the playground by the tennis courts across the street from Westbrook Shelter. It is not for young children and could really use an upgrade as some of it is a little scary. But the swings were in good shape and my kids were just happy to play.
Brad Villa
For a day trip there is plenty to do and even good for a quick scenic stop. There is the Canyon Inn which has an excellent selection of food and makes for a great stay with the awesome view. For camping and events this is an awesome place. Plenty of space and hiking and scenes galore. The restroom facilities have toilets and the restrooms are all clean and in good order (just make sure to bring some soap). There are unmaintained trails along the creek for fishers and anglers that are easy to access. Near the waterfall and North to the bridge there are fish however they are small. All in all very well maintained park and super family friendly, while having something to do for everyone.
Sharon Wray
It was getting colorful so it was nice just to sit quietly to hear acorns falling out of the trees. Our son took a nice hike and everyone took pictures.
Dick Sidner
McCormick's Creek is excellent location for hiking. Ten easy, moderate or rugged trails all available in very doable distances e.g. 2 miles or less.
ZJT 2020
My family and I stayed here for 3 nights. It is a beautiful state park! The trails are beautiful and there are so many trails to hike. We went to Wolfs Cave which was really cool, we didn't go all the way through it because my son got scared but if you get the chance to go through it, it does go all the way through and you have to crawl out to exit. We went to the falls which is really pretty! To get up to it you have to climb over rocks, so I would recommend some water shoes with good grips. They have a playground for kids, it is small with 2 slides and a kid zip line and a couple swings but it's nice for kids to play with each other and make new friends when the evening starts to wind down. If you are camping in a tent, highly recommend some sweat pants and a sweater because the nights do get really cold and bring an air mattress unless you don't mind sleeping on rocks lol. The best parts besides hiking the trails was waking up to hearing all the birds in the morning, it was really cool to hear all the different birds singing. If you get the chance to go, I highly recommend!
Stephen Reader
Staff are great, i didn't expect the rooms to be like a four star hotel, it's a lodge and the rooms are exactly what I expected, the park itself has lots of things to do.
And racoons.
Mark Schmitz
What a wonderful small state park. We had a great day hiking. The hikes we're nice and short and we were able to take breaks and make changes to what we wanted to do next. the inn looked nice and there was plenty to do there.
Marie Frey
Beautiful..we have visited most Indiana state parks, but this was our first time. We will be back. We now own an RV & looking for nice sites. The RV sites are laid out with plenty of space between fellow campers. Nice facilities.
Shamos Mathews
This is a great park. We spent Labor Day weekend there and we lucked out, they were having a Blues and BBQ. It was a most excellent time!!
Dacks
We have come to understand that Indiana runs a fantastic state park system. Mccormick is no exception. Deep in the woods and so very quiet. The sites are not huge and you have to be on your A game to back in. The park ranger was super helpful in getting us into s site where we would not have to unhook since it was a one night stay. One note on the down side. In Indiana you pay for the camping and also for the park entrance. So it's best to stay for more than 1 night. Great dump station, it's the small things for me that bring the greatest joy. Thanks Mccormick we will be back.
Dee Woo
This place was absolutely worth the hour long drive to get to! We saw so many beautiful things along the way and definitely plan on return for some of the activities they have going on. As well as the waterfall!
N B
Mccormick creek was beautiful. Tall pines, lots of shade. Very clean shower houses and great sites. Great trails and a huge full sun swimming pool. It poured hard rain for a whole day but with the rocks on the campsite there wasn't any mud.. Smart idea Mccormick. For half of the sites there was no privacy, but this would be great if you have more than one site for a large group. Only complaint is the campstone was miles away from camp ground and had only the bare minimum supplies. Other than that, I give 4 1/2 out of 5 stars. We will definitely be back.
Pamela Hutton
Beautiful place and waterfall. We loved hiking, camping and exploring the woods!
Brian Jacobs
Walked trail 1 through the nature preserve. Very large trees, peaceful with a little traffic noise due to the highway being nearby. Then went down the long stairway and rock hopped up trail 3 to the falls. Crowded as expected, but was still worth it.
Nicole Fann
Amazing nature center! wolf cave was dark so bring a flashlight. Thicker people might have trouble fitting through the end of the cave. Great for kids to play in the creek.
Mary Dotterer
My family and I loved hiking the 2 mile trail and visiting the Nature Center! We will definitely be back many more times!
Eric Anders
McCormick's Creek State Park did not disappoint last Tuesday. This park has challenging trails, a beautiful waterfall, and vibrant colors even past peak foliage time. Indiana has so much to offer!
Teri Rawley
I absolutely love taking our kids here!! We go on the trails and get lost for days! Absolutely beautiful place to be, and very well maintained!!
Robert Goodrich
Very well maintained and beautiful.
Krisy M
This park has some great running and hiking trails! Particularly trail 2 and 5 are very shaded and both trails are soft. If you're looking to hike and enjoy the view or get in some moderate to difficult hill-run workouts this is a great park to start. A few impressive details- the restrooms are always clean, there is a large pool on the property that's never overrun (separate from the hotel pool), and the hotel is somewhat centrally located as a great place for a pitstop. Also noteworthy, there are caves, a cool waterfall, and they offer horse back riding among other group adventures. Several cabins and space for tent camping too.
Emily Randall
Beautiful Park! Trails are marked and well kept. Camp ground is quiet and nice, showers are clean.
Caitlin Conley
Really have enjoyed every visit to this park. No sign of roadside weed spray use, friendly encounters with park staff, well maintained trails, lots of different camping options. Not too far of a drive from Btown. Really diverse landscape and plant life.
Bree Kressly
Absolutely loved this park. Fossils and wildlife and waterfalls! The showers were great too!
M.J. Kratoska
Very nice park, you can get right into the falls, see lots of fossils. There are tons of hiking trails and stairs where it would be hard to climb the hills. The trail marking could be improved. Some of the trails weren't cleared very well, but this probably changes depending on how fast the pants are growing.
Titus Sands
It's an amazing place and a park that everyone should visit at least once in their lives
Ryan Dunfee
Great place to hike, lots of trails with a variety of difficulty to match your ability. Lots of shelters and places to have a picnic or just enjoy the sounds of nature.
Brandi Barger
This place was an awesome place to camp! My whole family went and we especially loved the hike that takes you to wolf cave and then to the falls (which were absolutely beautiful) the water was refreshingly cold on a very hot day.😁 We stayed a week and I myself would love to stay longer but we must get back to the city blah blah blah .#countryLife #greatplacetocamp it is also very clean, all the way from the restrooms to the woods, there is hardly any litter at all! You can tell they take great care of this park. Bravo McCormick's Creek!
ER Yoder
The park is of course nature and beautiful but the roads are filled with potholes and the amenities such as bathrooms were unkept. After some care this will be a great place to visit!
Carlos De Luna
Very fun and lots to do! The views are amazing with plenty of trails to keep you busy. Definitely going again
Wanda Culp
Beautiful park. Nice hiking trails and creek hiking too. Clean and plenty of places to eat your picnic lunch!
Genevieve Barnes
We always have a great time here, well run and well maintained, lots of fantastic trail. It would be nice if the queues to get in moved a little quicker.
Traci Taylor
Such a beautiful location. It even has a wheelchair accessible trail (trail number 8 by the nature center) and you can borrow an alterain wheelchair to use on the trails too.
Jennifer Clark
This was our first time to camping here and it was wonderful. Not crowded this week. Everyone was really friendly. We loved visiting the Canyon Inn for firewood and playing games by the fire. Hiking was amazing when it didn't rain.
Nancy Bowen
Nice relaxing, peaceful place to getaway.
Marty McMann
This place is amazing. Great trails that are for basically any age. Super clean and so very peaceful.
Dr. William Starsiak
Great trails, a waterfall, horseback riding, even a cave to crawl through. A great spot for a day trip or to go camping. There are facilities for car camping.
E Somodi
I would recommend this state park to anyone who likes hiking and adventure. My family especially enjoyed the waterfalls. The only downside would be in some of the areas that parking can be a little tricky.
Mike Asher
Gotta do something scout those coons. Omg when the sun goes down you can't even enjoy yourself any more might as well go to bed but not before locking everything up in the car. But a beautiful place
tammie shock
Beautiful park. Enjoyed our stay however I believe we had the muddest camp site 126B.. just be prepared to be cleaning alot.. lol
Jace X
The wolf cave was super cool. Unfortunately we didn’t make it all the way through because of the water in the cave. It’s definitely not for the claustrophobic, or the thick.
Bathrooms were not open. Well, one was. But the toilets were clogged with blood, feces, and tp.
The waterfall was nice. I’d love to come back in the summer.
Chandra McClure
Wonderful fun. Lots of wildlife, fungi and water ! Little sad a lot if things were closed due to Covid but that's no one's fault.
Ryan Kennedy
The park was very clean and most of the paths were well kept. The only paths that weren't kept up were the ones that were closed or you aren't supposed to be on. The water was very clean and not too cold. I cam here with my friend and we were here for about 2-3 hours and were able to do alot of hiking and exploring through the creek and even some small caves down stream. I would highly recommend anyone to visit this park as it's beautiful and very enjoyable!
John
Good hikes and watering hole or waterfall is a nice chill spot. The cave seems a great place for kids just make sure you bring headlamps.
Denise Laverty
One of our favorite state parks! We love camping, hiking, exploring wolf cave, playing in the falls and eating at the Canyon Inn!
Cheyenne Kern
Great hiking! Trails have a variety of terrain. A great place for family exploration.
Drew Looyenga
Went to a wedding here. Cool park. Some amenities are a little more dated than other forest parks I've been to, but overall it's a nice place for small events, hiking, or family camping.
Pictured here: the amphitheater behind Canyon Inn.
Jonathan Mirgeaux
Great trails. Great wading area with waterfall. Great hiking along the stream. Great cave. Splendid!
Brian Deerwester
Great scenery along with - hiking trails, waterfalls, camping sites (pay), bat caves, horseback riding (pay), playgrounds, outdoor swimming pool (pay), inn, clubhouse, camps, picnic areas, shelters, cabin rentals, etc..... Worth your visit!
Auric Koestner
I had my wedding at the pine bluff shelter area.. it was gorgeous and everything we wanted at a wedding location..great park and people.
Jamie & Shayla Brown
Excellent trails for various skill levels. Well marked. Clean.
Lona Williams
It's a great place for family outings and family fun. My family and I go alot just to enjoy our weekend.
Mike F
Beautiful park, with a small waterfall and hikeable creek. Great rooms in the lodge, Beautiful campsites.
Josh
One of our favorite State Parks for sure!!
Gretchen Smith
Loved our stay here. Trails were good, loved visiting with all the horses. The lounge area was very large and included a fireplace that was going. We along with several other groups played different games in the evening. The only thing I wished it had was an indoor pool. We will definitely go back. Plus, we found Owens winery which had some really good wine.
Missed Noahsarc
Super amazing! You can play in a waterfall! Rocks are slick so be carefull and wear the right shoes. Stairs down to waterfall are a little steep but they are large stone blocks and are very safe. Go check it out!
Bob Bell
Beautiful area, nice hiking trails. Sometimes you can hear the highway but not horrible.
Sarah Stephens
We love visiting the first state park in Indiana. The falls on McCormick's Creek are just breathtaking and our son loves the challenge of making it through Wolf Cave (even if it means crawling through water)!
Patrick McCarel
A fantastic park to visit for a few days. Plenty of nice trails to keep you busy, beautiful scenery, and nice campgrounds to relax in. Glad we visited, even in the rain!
Judi C.
What a nice surprise. Been on the road all day from Missouri with no reservations or expectations. Found this gem of a state park. Had dinner at the Inn and it was one of the best hamburgers ever! The Wick's pie for dessert topped it all off.
Chris Hubbard
Was a great place to watch the solar eclipse of 2017, I only had time to go on two trails 10 was great but the map didn't seem to be accurate, and the other trail went to wolf cave and the twin bridges, wolf cave is very small but still cool.
TheMad Rooster
Always a great place to spend the day with the family .The camp grounds are always clean and well keep.Great walking trails
Rob Overton
I really enjoyed sitting down next to the fire and enjoying a drink from my favorite brewery. Hitting the trails tomorrow and they look promising.
Kristi Devries
Love this state park! We went in the fall and it was gorgeous! Will definately be back!
Stephanie Rose
Beautiful park with hilly landscape. We loved visiting in the spring and the winter
Brian Brown
Lots of trails, cabins are clean and cozy. Dinner at the inn was nice with a great view.
Stephen Elkin, Jr
Trails are well marked, scenery is beautiful, and the rushing sounds of water in the creeks are so peaceful.
Wear waterproof shoes because there are no bridges over the creek.
Gotta do a guided tour to wolf cave. You can find it yourself but the park rangers made it so interesting as we walked and talked about the wild flowers, sink holes, etc. Oh and they will guide through the 200 ft cave. You will need a flash light as there are no lights. VERY tight spaces that not all travelers can get through. I only made it through 3/4 of the cave before turning around.
Deborah e
Always a great time. There's the falls, wolf cave and fossil hunting. Wonderful wooded sites for camping too!
全哥
Nice Falls and Creek View! Very interesting experience to crawl through the Wolf Cave!
Song Brewer
The trails clearly marked, the little waterfalls in the creek were nice and loved the sounds of it.
Jeffrey Cates
Great weekend and great weather.
River rat skippy.
great place to hike and relax you can go into the creek and swim in the summer.... or winter if that's your thing. beautiful area it is only 7 dollars to get in and is free in winter.
peter pflum
Wonderful hikes, the falls are accessible by stairway. Amazing place.
Wendy Meese
This is one of the best state parks I have ever been to. The campsites were great and well shaded. Plenty of hiking and things to explore. We will certainly be back!
Thomas Cera
Awesome hiking, challenging trails, beautiful waterfalls. Stay at the Inn!
Andrew Hart
A great treasure of the Indiana state park system. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The youth camping areas are well maintained.
Dustin Myers
Beautiful place, especially in the fall. Highly recommend it. Good for large groups!
Jana Emery
$7.00 Entry Fee. Trail 3 was by far the best mini adventure we have had here. Recommend good water shoes and a water proof case for devices. We spent a little over an hour hiking and swimming. We will be back.
Ana Rosales
It's a really nice place for hiking and just have fun!
Andrew Carver
A beautiful park with friendly staff. This is our second trip here and it definitely will not be our last!
Bailee Robison
I have always loved coming here, ever since I was a kid. no trip to the area is complete without checking out the waterfall and hiking along the creek!
Brian Libby
5 billion star hotel
Great hiking
David Castleberry
Very nice park worth the stop
Wind Haven
Beautiful park with the falls and cave. Wonderful horseback riding and friendly staff. The Canyon Inn is ancient and could use an update…
Amanda Condra
Beautiful place and fun for the family. Sad that some people feel the need to litter. Overall, beautiful experience.
John Stephens
Had a great 4th of July at the park. The falls were awesome. The staff was very friendly and the park was in great shape!
Ellen James
We had site 45it was pretty good and level couldn't put out one of our awnings we had 40 ft 5th wheel
Nick Piotrowski
Great historic and scenic park just a half hour away from Bloomington. The canyon surrounding McCormick's creek is cool to hike around and through, and the wolf cave trail has a tight but short cave to pass through. Primitive camping was average and the facilities were well maintained and cleaned for campers.
Sarita G
Been visiting this park since I was a kid. We took my 2 & 5 month old camping a few months ago. We had so much fun hiking and playing on the okay ground.
Stephanie Wood
Best place ever so beautiful and so much to see and do fun for the whole family from the young to the old something for every one
Matt Walters
I really enjoyed this State Park. I came on a fall day and felt like I barely scratched the surface before the sun set. Beautiful valleys, a cave you can crawl through, an old quarry and a fire tower. A lot to check out.
Caprice Harrold
Beautiful park! Cool cave to explore (if you're willing to crouch and slither, lol), well-maintained trails, and a pretty waterfall.
Jennifer Abrell
Beautiful park. Excellent trails, some follow the creek and take you to the falls. Cool off on a hot day.
Dallas Coats
Really a great place to camp, bring the family. Lots of trails to walk. Beatiful places to camp; though, there are some areas of the primative campsites that are rather close. The only other thing is with the firewood. It can be rather green from time to time.
Arita Gonzalez
A nice place to bring family and kids. Very well kept and clean. Really enjoyed the waterfall.
Josie Z
The restaurant is fantastic! Enjoyed really good food, excellent service, and a nice atmosphere! We hope to return there soon.
Gil Quin
This was a very nice place well maintained little rainy but we had lots of fun
Brian Palmer
We went to listen to the cicadas and e were not disappointed. The 17 year Brood X was so loud! The drone of millions of cicadas echoing all around was eerie and amazing at the same time.
Lee T
Very peaceful. Trails were great.
Luanne Dennis
If you love nature this is a great place to visit. Lots of hiking trails and camping and a swimming pool. There are waterfalls and a cave to explore. Came here for our anniversary and glad we did.
T Pemberton
Took kiddos to the pool. Haven't been in ages. Smaller than what I remember. As was I. Fair amount of people. No issues. Plenty of LG. Kids had a blast. We are coming back this year for sure!
Landon Little
Awesome time in the campgrounds. Will be back to explore some more of the trails
bartamus foul
I had not visited McCormick's Creek in almost thirty years. It was far nicer now, than it was at that time. A little more litter, but people stick. That's not really on the park as they do their best to clean it.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The hayride was really fun and the people who ran that were great.
Overall it was a great experience.
Ben Zeigler
Gorgeous Inn and fantastic hiking trails - even in the winter as we hiked in 15 degree weather. Quite beautiful to see the creek almost entirely frozen
Chloe Conrad
I loved this park! It has a lovely playground, for children 5+, very nice showers, very private spots, MANY spots and most are back in so be prepared to back in. It's a very beautiful spot with a LOT of hiking trails. Very pet friendly, doggie bags available. Staff is very helpful and friendly. 10/10 would recommend.
Aj Steele
I went there for my 42nd birthday all the staff were very polite it was very clean I had handicap site and it was very clean and it was beautiful around the park very clean bathrooms.
Nann Pickett
Wonderful place very serene and our campsite is so private and peaceful I loved the beauty of the mcormicks creek Falls and the site for RV is wooded love it
Kathleen Yeadon
Great day for a hike. Kind staff.
Trail marker for trail 4 could be clearer.
Kenda Jones
First time visiting Indiana and my son in law brought us here, even though Spring hasn't shown through it's absolutely beautiful.
Gamemode _on123
Overall the park is fun and is very interesting with the history and historical sites. But there is not a lot of things to do in the park or Spencer the town nearby.
Andrea Bailey
We camped here for the first time this past weekend. Very happy with our choice of parks! The camp ground was clean; trails very clean and well marked ( loved trail 3!); showers were clean and had good water pressure and hot water; overall great experience. Adding it to our “yearly trips”!
Our only “complaint” is that we tent camp and found few sites that were not covered in gravel (except for primitive area). We lucked out and had plenty of space for our tent but not a lot of tent-friendly sites.
Amanda Humphrey
Great place. Bring water shoes and picnic lunch, stay and play 😉 …
Hannah Abell
Even in the middle of winter, trail 3 is lots of fun. Be warned it can get quite icy since it follows the creek.
Malinda Massung
Nice camping! Great trails and lots of creeks to explore. Very nice people
Mark T
Nice park with a cool trail along a Canyon and a little waterfall
Lyndi H
Such a beautiful park full of things to see! Wolf Cave is fun to go through!
Brandon Miller (BoSheck)
This is a great park with plenty of activities, several fairly easy hiking trails, and some points of historical interest. Plenty to fill a day with. Of all the state parks in Indiana I've ever been to it's definitely the most 'touristy' with a hotel on the grounds, horseback riding and tons of people mucking about in the falls and creek itself, which depending on the experience you want may or may not be a plus.
Laura Adams
This is my first time here. I have had a wonderful time, great hiking trails!! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Nicole Nethery
Very well maintained and clean. We love coming here to go for walks, horse back riding, camping, swimming, caving, and much more. It's a beautiful park in every season.
Patricia Mauck
Beautiful state park. My granddaughter held her wedding there this July and the amphitheater was nearly covered by the shade trees. Watching the bridal party walking down the steps was a big treat as we had plenty of time to view the bridesmaids and groomsmen coming down the steps. I really enjoyed that park that day.
Nakia Johnson
McCormick's Creek was a nice place but my first time there I didn't know all those stairs you had to go down to get to the waterfall and then another Creek had to run down bigger stairs it was okay but people with handicapped by myself it was hard to walk back up the stairs it wasn't for the stairs I will come do meditation it will be nice of quiet and peace and smell the nature but those stairs hurt me so bad I took 2 days three days before I can do anything
Dan Cunningham
Great hiking trails with friendly staff and clean facilities as well. Good place to have a picnic or take your dogs for a nice walk!
Jessica Hanna
I could go here everyday! So bueatiful. Such nice trails...
Tom Ebert
Great experience. Trails are outstanding and sceneries are beautiful
Blake Arseneaux
Great park with good hiking trails for families!
David Duke
You will have a great time here. Horses to ride, caves, creeks, waterfalls, etc. The one complaint I have is the campsite arrangement. The are we stayed in, they are on a decent slope and very tight to get into. Not enough sites for 25ft plus RVs.
Rebecca s
Nice stay but recreation center needed upgrade it was lacking to much space needed filled with more games and such, would be great if they had a hot tub with pool.
Ambyr Brosmer
Beautiful State Park with lots of great hiking trails! We will be returning soon!
Joshua Brown
Love love love this campground, great sites, great hiking, lovely getaway weekend camping
Rusty Shakleford
Really beautiful park with a very large waterfall! Many wonderful hiking trails with some really cool things to see! The only downside is they charge admission. This was our first state park in Indiana, and we weren't expecting an admission charge, but if it helps maintain the park, I cant complain too much. Definitely will be back in the future!
Nico DeVerter
I love the unique history of this beautiful park. I've loved growing up nearby and still make time for visits when i'm in town.
Josh Beard
Great park for a family camping. Fun hiking trails and great views. Will definitely be back.
Andrew Mckinley
Very clean park. Trails almost as good as turkey Run sp.
Julie Lingren
We stayed at Camp Na Wa Kwa in the group cabins and were thrilled to discover that they have added heat to the cabins since the last time we stayed in them. It was an unusually frigid weekend and those heaters saved us, allowing us to stay both nights in the cabins without freezing and deciding to pack up and go home. Great upgrade!
Tyler
A very beautiful park with a diverse section of hiking trails. The camp site we stayed at was nice... if you had a camper. The entire campsite was covered in gravel. We shared the lot with some friends who had a camper but we stayed in a tent. It was extremely difficult to get my stakes into the ground, the gravel did a number on the tent, and it was uncomfortable to walk in the tent. Now if you had an RV then you'd be fine.
Other than the tent of gravel issue I had a blast here. Would recommend to anyone looking to camp in the area.
Michael Sampson
A great park with many trails to hike and other outside activities. There is a fee to enter the park and many places to explore.
Jack Gerhardt
A really nice park to do some tent camping. It would be nice to have a shower or two available, bit we managed well. The falls are breathtaking.
A Hodges
A breathtakingly beautiful park with so much wildlife and varied vegetation
Angel Bodenhamer
We love it here! Campground is well staffed and well maintained!
Dana Money
Great place! Fun trails, good food.
Neil Mack
Great State Park for enjoying the time with nature. Lots of good hiking trails are ready for you. So go ahead and take the necessary steps to make a wonderful day(s).
mrcool_12
We hiked to the waterfall. It was flowing great today after the rain. I has read that the trail to the Falls is .5 round-trip but it couldn't have been that far. It was just a 5 minute walk from the parking lot. Overall a very nice and cozy area Great for visiting.
Tim
I love to visit this state park to hike trails. Some trails follow and cross the creek, so when the water is up it's a little more challenging to cross and stay dry. In the summer it's fun for kids to hike in shoes they can get wet and wade through the creek. Beautiful creek valley with some vertical faces.
For cardio I take the trails with stairs and make my own loop trail using all four sets of stairs (as many as 150 steps in one set). My loop crosses the creek twice, but I usually keep dry by crossing on logs or stones hikers have placed in the stream.
The Wolf Cave trail and the fire tower trail are good trails that don't take you through the creek.
A great place to take the family and friends for a picnic and a hike.
One of my sons likes to go there to take their trail ride. For those without horses, this is a good way to get a horse riding experience through the woods.
I shouldn't leave out the Inn. Stayed there on multiple occasions, just not recently. I was pleased with the accommodations and the food. I always liked their breakfast buffet, but what guy doesn't like a good breakfast buffet?
Jason Gasaway
This place was a great place to camp. With almost 2000 acres of land there are lots of trails and things to do. The horse back riding was great fun for the family. The hay ride was also fun. I would highly recommend this place!
Samuel Baughman
Beautiful place to come visit. Very nice trails!
Linda Benjamin
Was here for a very fun weekend event and here's what I thought of the inn... Every single employee that I encountered was super friendly and offered help. The inn is old cozy clean and although it wasn't fancy it had everything we needed. The food was meh and there were no options for vegetarians... Actually no options at all for the meals that were included in our event. What would have made the canyon inn a 5 star is if they would've made the event room available for a couple of hours after checkout (11) so that we could've had a proper weekend of fun instead of a full day with a few hours on each end... Even though... I look forward to my next time visiting... (And I'll bring my own food)...
Alisa Schwartz
Great park to camp, hike and spend time with family. Definitely recommend going!!
Jason McClain
Great place to rv camp. At least on the new side. Was not on the old part. Inn had great food!
william rogers
Some nice trails. I always like the one that goes down the creekbed
Cori Camp
Beautiful park with beautiful trails!
Tammi Duis
Incredible. However, no fire pits at family cabins. Cabins are still really great. Park has something to offer for everyone. Accessible areas throughout.
BRAD RUSHING
Love McCormick's Creek! Along with Turkey Run, they are my favorite places to be in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Just stayed in the cabins for a week with our kids and their families. Had a blast! Great trails, tennis courts and basketball hoop. Canyon Inn is also great to stay in. Can't forget the horses and stables.
Skittery Grunt
It's a very beautiful park, it has a lot of flat rocks in and out of water, and giant cliffs, all around very nice experience.
C Norris
An Indiana favorite. Beautiful park with great trails
Danielle Dillon
Beautiful! Nice trails for families - paved walkways in several areas.
Abner Begley
Walk trails everyday... Well everyday my pancreas ain't giving me issues
Adrian Smith
We enjoyed the hiking. Well marked trails and easy to access from the campground. Fresh water valves were a little strange. Felt like you were over extending them to get normal water flow. Potable water should be located at the sanitary station instead of other 'random' locations around the campsite.
Rodger Hutchison
Stay for a few days nice clean restrooms and friendly staff.
Gabe Blissmer
Great facilities. Camping was nice and we'll taken care of. Highly recomended.
G Blair
Favorite Indiana SP. It just sparkles. So cared for and loved and I love it too. My fav trail is Trail 5 which is a 2 miles round trip through woods and river beds, past a cave. Great bathrooms, great trails, great picnic areas. Trail 9 is a terrific trail to take right now (June 2021) if you want to immerse yourself in the Brood X experience. The constant drone of cicadas was practically earsplitting in this area of the park.
Racheal Curts
Beautiful amazing park to explore so much to see.
Raylynn Wangler
Beautiful hiking trails with a waterfall
Lisa Shelton
Beautiful state park near a small town. This park has a beautiful waterfall, small cave, a couple of playgrounds, trails from challenging to easy, camp grounds, public pool, nature center and a hotel/restaurant
Millie B
Hadn't pre-planned to go to this beautiful park so I hadn't researched it. Was pleasantly surprised to find riding stables and beautiful horses before going on a trail hike. The park is huge so we'll have to go back to see and enjoy the rest. Next time I'll be better prepared. Already looking forward to it.
BradConnie Meeder
Great facilities. Pools are nice. Rolling hills. We camped there and the sites were level with huge trees for shade.
Benjamin Judah
Beautiful setting. Good hiking, nice waterfall
Keith V
First time there. Beautiful place in the winter.
Gwen Patterson
This is a very large and beautifully maintained park. We attended a family reunion in a group camp NaWa-. Its been updated with new roofs and AC in the cabins. Great kitchen area and dining hall too. We always have a great time here!
Sierra B
Beautiful, impressive, spacious park with great trails for hikers of all levels. We camped a couple nights- first night (Thurs) was peaceful. Friday night was a bit noisy and crowded. Will definitely return if we’re ever back in Indiana!
Shannon Morgan
We hiked on some beautiful trails then stayed for supper at the Canyon Inn. Yummy!
bill striby
One of the best camp grounds in the state, clean, well kept, lots of shade, paved trails in some places, clean restrooms, quiet time enforced. Some sites are small, if you come with others they are close together. Close to Indy, but construction on 37 can be challenging. Highly recommend.
Brad Clay
Suprised, I did not know about the stunning Majesty of McCormick Creek park, and the great food at the inn. What a treasure of God's creation so close to Indy.
Preston Hancock
Awesome paths, nice to walk around. Lots of shade. Will definitely be going back
Mark Throop
Another nice place to do some hiking
Noel Gillenwater
This park is perfect for families! There is something for everyone! The playgrounds and trails are always well kept!
Michael Lee
Serine, peaceful, best state park we've been to this year. And very clean!
Toni Pennington
Fun! The kids had a blast hiking and getting wet!
Keith Kirby
McCormick's Creek is very beautiful place, and, doesn't cost to much. However I have given it 4 ⭐ because there are steep slopes and stairs that my not be accessible to everyone.
But otherwise fun place, I would recommend it !!!!🙂
David Eades
All camp sites are great, nice trails to walk. Primitive camp sites well spaced compared to other parks.
Litha Msikinya
It's a good place to get a nice camping experience. Very easy to navigate and conveniently located amenities.
Philip Stewart
Great park try visiting during the week to have it to yourself. Sorry no waterfall picture as that is why most people come here.
Natalie Reese
Great for hiking! Family fun and adventures
JoAnn Lake-Coughlin
Park is beautiful with lots of trails and gorgeous scenery. Campsites are nice and roomy and restrooms are clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Get your wood at the local grocery store in Spencer for 4.99 a bundle vs. 7+ at the park. Other than that, a very enjoyable visit.
Doris Jones
Waterfalls and creeks are beautiful. It is so worth going.
Roy Reynolds
Large state park, popular with both day hikers and families. Trails are pretty busy regardless of which one you pick. Park has ample parking and shelter houses. Park features both cabins and an Inn.
Tory May
Beautiful experience and place to see!
christa paige
During the wintertime, it's very reclusive & free. Summers 7 dollars.
Mary Tirmenstein
Beautiful park with good hiking trails
Jason Massey
Wonderful state park! Nice trails and lodge!
Martin Cabela
Nice trails. Easy to get to the waterfall but more adventurous trails also. Enjoyed the unimproved trail along the creek and back up the stairs to trail 3 for a quick in and out hike. The Inn looks like a good stay.
Myka Ellenwood
Nice campground. Sites are a tad narrow and close together. Lots of things to do in the park! Only thing we didn't like was the lack of cleaning in the bathrooms. Had to bring our own toilet paper to the toilets.
Jason Salamah
Great campground, sites are a little tight but overall great place to go
Mary M
Get a cabin if you can. Just right for a small family in our case😁. Two bunk beds in a separate area with a surprisingly comfortable pull out double mattress in the main room. The gas fire stove and the electric on demand hot water make this better than any hotel room. You just need to bring your own linens, food and cooking and eating utensils. The kitchen is small but very accessible with a standard refrigerator. The oven heats up in a blink and the four burner gas top is perfect for soup or frying up eggs.
The hiking trails allow you to get out and see the beauty of thebpark without having to drive too. Or just sit in the screened front porch on one of the 2 rocking chairs. There is also deck with a picnic table for times when outdoor dining is an option 😀
Susan Bassett
Beautiful & well-kept! Lots to do! Hiking trails well marked & in excellent condition! Campground clean & quiet!
Patrick Bucksot
I grew up near McCormick's Creek as a kid and still enjoy returning here as an adult at 55 years old. So much to do here to build long lasting memories.
Russell Lee
McCormick's Creek State Park offers great outdoors experiences for children of ALL ages. My Wife and I are "mature" kids and loved hiking throughout the park; and viewing the stunningly breath-taking Waterfalls.
If you've never been OR its been awhile since your last visit, what are you waiting for? TIME is of the essence for wandering through and experiencing Indiana's first state park rich in history!!!

McCormick's Creek is our favorite state park. Never disappointed. Great camping and awesome trails. Take the kids hiking and play at the falls. Just beautiful.
Aaron Nichols
Park is nice, however if you're camping.. it would make sense to have the general store actually near the camp grounds.. Not way over by the inn.. It just doesn't make any sense.. Also it is said that its a fully stocked general store.. Looks like an apocalypse happened and the general store was picked over. ALSO around the camp restrooms / shower house there is zero light around there.. stepped off paved path a few times.. Wouldn't be hard for someone to step on a snake as you can't see even a foot in front of you. run some conduit and get some lights going.
Grandma Fitness
Great camping sites with excellent trails! Very clean restrooms and great place for kids to play and hangout with others.
Bob Wolf
Chilly evening hike to the creek from the inn just before dusk and not long after a light rain. The new leaves seemed to glow green. Creek and falls were running. Very few people about. Trails are well maintained.
Bo Medsker
Just went hiking here today, trails were very nice, and there are steps on the inclines so your not pushing to hard to get up a hill, there was an inn and restaurant, and a gift shop. I've been camping here years ago, but was not camping today, I would definitely recommend checking out this campground and park.
Brandy H
Very beautiful park with a number of fun trails to hike through! Definitely a recommended stop if you are in the area. I went in November so it was a bit chilly, but I'd love to return in the summer! The trails along the creek are stunning and fun to explore, very lovely park I will be returning to in the future.
Cheri S
Beautiful place to visit. The falls are marvelous. They keep the park very clean. Highly recommend.
Kevin Becker
Went for a Memorial Day weekend hike. Had a good time. Since it was a rainy day the trails were mostly empty. Some of the trail markings could have been clearer, but that didn't detract from the experience.
Jason Kalleres
Canyon inn was awesome, nicer than I expected, friendly staff. All the park employees really friendly too. Daughter was blown away by the limestone creek, and that was before we found the falls.
Thomas Minor
Very pretty State park. Loved the easy trails and peaceful environment.
Nicole Lynn
Had a day hike w the fam and it was great as usual
Mrs. C. Johnston
My absolute most favorite place ever!
I've spent most of my life exploring this park and enjoying it's amenities. I intend to continue loving it until the day I die. My favorite trail is trail 2, be sure to take a rest on Sarah Carr's bench down by the Quarry.
Jerry D Krinn
We (small group of 7) camped in the primitative area. It is small (approximately 50 yards by 200 yards) and was crowded - approximately 20 campsites and all but 2 filled. The staff are friendly and helpful. Restrooms realitivively clean. Some of the campers were less than courtious - noisy in that small area. Everything considered, I will go back.
Sandy Hicks
Fell in love with this park again! Moderate to challenging trails. Great views.
Taylor Zang
The park is well maintained and beautiful. We went after it rained so experienced full waterfall. Ample parking space.
Jason Stroup
We love McCormick's Creek! Hiking trails are great and camping here is a family favorite!
Geoffrey Rose
Very nice inn. The park is awesome especialy if you like hiking.
jason glaze
We were at site 57 plenty of room. Close to the bath house and play ground
Andrew Step
Great place with amazing views! The mosquitoes are hardly noticeable, which is great for people who get bitten more often!
Jim Warren
This is a large, wooded park with lots of trails. Wolf cave is very fun to explore, and a very nice visitors center.
Daphne Peigh
My family and I have been coming here ever since I was born and even before that as well. A beautiful place to stay out to enjoy the beautiful side of nature. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I highly recommend for all especially if you want to escape the “city” life and take a long vacation.
Shannon Halsaver
Very nice park. We had a picnic in the deer run area. Nice area without being mover crowded. Took a little hike on the trail there, very well maintained and pleasant. Didn't get to the waterfall as it was too crowded for my taste, but others in my party did and had a wonderful time.
Michael Anderson
We just love all the state parks. The hiking is great for families with kids. The trails are kept in great condition. We had lunch at the inn and the buffet was full of delicious comfort food. We saw a wedding taking place while we were there and it really seemed like a nice place for a wedding.
Sadie Carter
Miles of scenic hiking trails, mostly short hikes, but can be chained together for longer hikes. A cave you can squeeze through, waterfall, natural bridges, multiple playgrounds, a pool, and a great Nature Center. One of my favorite state parks in the country!
My one complaint is that the tent campsites are a little close together and many are steeply slanted.
Zac Blodgett
A very nice spot. Fun trails and beautiful spots. Check it out!
Sean's Stuff
Amazing park for hiking. Plenty of space to do what you want (not illegal). Not many people there when I have gone. Trails are amazing for running, very well blazed. There weren't any obstructions in the path. Also great coverings/open shacks for building fires with fireplaces and benches.
Hessam Noori
There is a cave in this park but it is not an actual cave made due to abrasion process during the years. It is a very short cave made due to rocks fall. So there is no bat there! It is not very difficult to pass it and it takes around 10 mins. You really do not want to crawl but it may make your cloths dirty, specially if there was a rain some days before your visit.
Leslie Krock
We camped and hiked the trails here, loved it!
Robert A. Grayless
AWESOME!
Lisa Husted
We love McCormick's Creek! Attended a beautiful wedding at the amphitheater and the reception at the redbud shelter. McCormick's Creek is a beautiful park. You will not be disappointed. There are trails for all levels of hiking.
Ian Vargas
Beautiful trails. Very noisy at the campsites though
Carla Powell (Karious)
I have always loved this place. It's beautiful and serene. I used to Model at the waterfall. The water was amazing the scenery is amazing. Great for family reunions or just plain fun on trails or horses or swimming and cooking out at the pool. I've stayed in the Cabins and they are beautiful as well kept. I would highly recommend this place for all ages!
Amera McCormick
This park is amazing! Camping spots are spacious and well layed out, whether camping alone or with a group there is an area so suite you. The landscape is beautiful and there is an activity for everyone. The only small problem is the bathroom facilities do not have parking near them so walking is a must regardless of distance around the loops.
Stephanie Quiroz
A very lovely place to camp and hike. Wolf cave was fun to poke around in. The riverbed and the waterfall are pretty and enjoyable to climb through. I am very satisfied with my time here with my spouse.
Heads up, the cave is not something that many adults may enjoy.
My husband is lanky but broad shouldered at 6’.
I am 5’5” and 45” around at my widest point.
We got dirty and some points in the cave were quite a squeeze. I got to visually take in the cave more than my spouse because of the low ceiling.
But!!! There were two groups of kids around 7-10 years old that managed to get by us a few times as they passed through the cave. In those points of the cave, we managed to bypass each other fine.
It is not a long cave. You won’t be shuffling through it for a 1/2 hour, unless you feel like going into it a couple more times to take the beauty in again.
The cave has two exits/entrances but one is very rocky to climb through. Like walking along points in the riverbed, if you don’t watch your footing, you could twist an ankle. Maybe worse.
Spencer is where we went for our food. The Walmart in that tiny town is SMALL. There is a grocery store in town, slightly closer to the park. I recommend going there for your campfire cooking needs.
Shari Burger
Beautiful State Park. First time at the park and worth the trip. Several nice trails to hike and lots of different levels of difficulty. We had a picnic at one of the shelter houses. Checked out the Canyon Inn but did not have the opportunity to stay on this trip. Very inviting place to spend the night. Would highly recommend this State Park.
SherryL Gullett
Will try to book bigger lot next but really enjoyed this camp and park
mike bean
Loved it! Went on the trail ride and Pearl was our guide. She's kind of a real life "Jade" from the series "Heartland" . We'll be visiting there again for sure!
Gorgeous State Park!!
Isana Allday
It's so beautiful here. I visited in May for a 3 day weekend trip with my family and we had a great stay at the Inn located here. It's so peaceful. The grounds are well maintained, there's a pool, a creek with a nice walking trail and lots of stairs for a good workout. I also heard there was horse back riding but didn't get a chance to do that. The staff is so professional and nice. The Inn is very quiet and service was awesome. I can't wait to visit again.
Laura Fitzgerald
We just camped here for the first time. The park is beautiful and filled with plenty to do! The bathrooms and shower areas were kept clean and nice. The staff were kind and welcoming. The camp sites were nice, but very, very close together! You can hear the conversation from your neighbor's tent. It's not so great when they are swearing loudly... With plenty of kids to hear them.
Micah Barcalow
McCormick's Creek has lots of fun activities for the whole family. It was Indiana's first official state park (thanks, Nature Center, for that tidbit), and it is in a beautiful part of the state. The hiking is great and has plenty of variety. Be sure to check out Wolf Cave (fun for kids, a real squeeze for adults) and have a flashlight 9r headlamp with you. Then visit the falls from the observation platform or hike down and see them in person.
One word of warning: state parks sell firewood to prevent the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer, and we always buy our firewood from the parks to support this initiative even though we have a seasoned supply of wood at home. The wood they are currently selling at the campground has not been seasoned and does not burn well at all. We were fortunate to have a cook stove along, but be aware of this if you are camping and plan to cook over fire.
All in all, this is a fun park and a great place to visit.
Tony Szak
Such a great park. Love to hike along the creek, the waterfall is awesome and my babe even found a geode and some really cool fossils along the creek.
Angelina Perez
It was wonderful, except we waited for the people in the gate houses, talking on the phone for quite awhile some weren't even watching to see if people belong in the campgrounds, anyone could can drive right in.no one cares.people driving faster than they should, But the campgrounds are nice.
Luke Smucker
I've got experience on a lot of hiking trails, but I really loved all the waterfalls here. Trails were well marked and not hard to traverse. We enjoyed seeing the cave and appreciated the clean bathrooms with running water. Staff was friendly and the scenery was beautiful.
Donald Furr
Beautiful, from the waterfall to Wolf cave the wide trails make this park a fantastic place for kids from papoose to 99 to explore.
Brent Sullivan
Great place to camp and spend the weekend.
Kayla Epple
We love this park and the waterfall. Always where we go when we go here.
Raegan Jones
It is a really fun place to bring your kids, friends, and significant other. There is a creek, hotel, pool, volleyball court, basketball court, and life size checkers. There are many cabins as well you can rent them and fit up to 12 people per cabin.
Matthew Reynolds
Went camping here and had an amazing time with the family. Bath houses are very clean and well kept, park is very well kept, and lots to do here. If you camping here with a large travel trailer, be prepared for some tighter spots to back into. Some of the sites are a little more challenging than others.
Gigi S.
Nice campground with spacious sites. No privacy. Sites are electric only.
chris johnson
Gear great place. The history of this place is amazing and the place is absolutely beautiful. It's clean and not overwhelmingly packed. Great place to bring kids, the cave is a must see. Aping is awesome just an overall great place. Highly recommend.
Tenpa Dhargya
I went there last summer in 2018. It was wonderful visiting and one of the best place to visit in Bloomington!
Jennifer Nutt
Lots of trees, trails, waterfall, pool, nature center activities. Sites in A loop a bit too close together, but well shaded.
Tonya Patterson-Rector
Very nice park. $7 car entrance fee for Indiana residents. $3 to swim at the pool (which is closed) Seeing and wading at the falls is free. Nice family cabins to camp in, nice campgrounds. Trails are well marked and many are elder friendly as they are well footed and flat. There is a lovely old staircase to take you down to the falls. I suggest water shoes or good waterproof sandals. And there is also A CAVE! Wolf Cave has to be hiked to. A lot of history at this park, visit The Nature Center to learn more.
Matt Sewell
Loved it! Great place to take the family for an outdoor adventure. The whole family had an awesome time. Stayed a night in Canyon Inn. It was a beautiful room wth very friendly service. We will go back for sure. Hopefully for an extra night or too next time.
Steven Shumaker
Great State Park with Water Fall, Horse Back Riding. It also has two swimming pool, one at the Inn, and the other closer to the camping grounds. Cabins to rent, tent camping, hiking. Almost forgot you also have Wolves Cave. The Inns restaurant has great food, I highly recommend for breakfast getting FRIED BISCUITS WITH INDIANA APPLE BUTTER TO DEEP THEM IN, AS TIME OF THIS POSTING THEY COME IN AN ORDER OF 10 for less then $5.00. It's also Indianas first state park
Aj Chatham
My parents brought me here when I was younger and I will continue the tradition on bringing my children here. have a lot of memories here
Sherri Wells
Lodge room was small but adequate. Trail to waterfall was awesome. No free breakfast but it wasn't a bad price and tasted great.
Mike Dukehart, II
This is our favorite state park. Plenty of great trails for a variety of skill levels. Summer concerts are a good time. The inn gets the job done and then some. The rooms are good for sleeping and showering. Nice big community room on the first floor, great place for playing games and reading. The adirondack chairs on the lawn are a great place to drink coffee of wine. Great place for a weekend break or a week lawn family vacation.
Lisa Massey
One of my favorite state parks. Great trails with a nice variety of difficulty, well kept camping sites, nice cabins, horse back riding, an inn, plenty of shelters & toilets. All in such a beautiful nature setting with a watetfall as a bonus. It's been a lifetime of watching the terrain chain here.
Sue Rogers
Had gathered here for a Women's Retreat. Nice enclosed facility with small kitchen area including sinks and refrigerator, lots of tables and chairs. Also a real toilet rather than the outdoor model. Be sure to make your plans and reservation early!
We enjoyed lunch together at the Canyon Inn buffet. Some of us walked trails while some others went horseback riding; BOTH were challenging! 😂
Luke Postell
I have been coming to the park since I was an infant. Everything about this park is so relaxing and is where I go to get away from it all. Try trail 3 if you are looking for a challenging hike full of great views.
Brandon “souperman” Campbell
My family loves going to McCormick's Creek State Park. From hiking on the trails the climbing on rock formations, to walking the creek on a hot summer day. They love it all. For a special treat we will sometimes ride the horses and ponies.
We have never stayed at the lodge, but it looks like it could be a fun experience.
There are trails for beginners and intermediate level, don't think there is anything that I would classify as difficult.
Meredith Phillips
One of our favorite parks! So much to do: hiking by/through the creek, the wolf cave, an old farmstead, camping, and so much more. The staff are lovely, and we always enjoy our visit.
Dawn Meadows TheBookVandalShop
Always enjoy camping here. Shady spots. Beautiful park.
Rita Teeters
The woods are beautiful, the inn is very nice and staff is friendly
Offthe Grid1day
It's a state park where you make it fun! Loved taking my daughter horseback riding and will be going again!
Andrew Downs
Very nice and very fun! This was my first time visiting and the hiking, creek stomping and waterfalls were amazing! We also checked out the visitors center and the inn, they were worth checking out. We will be back and stay at the inn next time.
Jacqueline Perkins
Awesome hiking trails,,,being the bug spray 😁 …
Brian Sills
Indiana's first state park. Maintained well, with plenty of trails and a nice waterfall area. Tennis courts are in the shade but have a lot of leaves and seemed to be neglected.
Tim McVey
Loved our stay at McCormick creek state Park, it was well maintained and spacious. We can't wait to bring the kids back next time we drive through. The lake road is a pretty drive and would be a great place for a picnic. Make sure you get to camp early enough to buy firewood the local stores didn't carry any.
Chelsen Brooks
We had a blast with our kids hiking back to Wolf cave. It's a long hike but definitely worth it. If you go through the cave just be aware it gets pretty narrow in places. My husband and I are not small people but we were able to crawl through in the tight spots. You will also have to army crawl under the wall at the end. Prepare to get dirty! Haha we went to the waterfall after and played in the water and got the dirt off. We had a wonderful family outing here. We will be back for sure.
Anita Chaplin
Indiana State parks are beautiful! A great place to go and get into nature. Spending time outdoors is so nice. Many trails to check out, plenty to see and do. Cabins...Canyon Inn. No reason not to come check this out! Tucked away in a nice little southern Indiana town.
Melodie Staley
Great park with awesome trails.
DIY Everything
Waterfall would be better if you could run all the locals out of there, place was like the town hangout. Speed limit needs to he dropped way below 20mph. But all in all it's a very beautiful park. I enjoyed the trails and Wolf Cave most of all.
Steve Otto
Very beautiful. A great park to bring the family. You can stay at the Inn which has it's own swimming pool, basketball court and other outdoor activities. Big camp grounds. Cabins to rent. Horse back riding. Hiking trails. Walk or swim in the waterfall area. Plenty of picnic areas. We will definitely be going back. The park employees were very helpful and friendly.
Eliezar Lian
This is our first time to McCormick. We went there early in the morning and we spent all day in the park. Took lots of photos and pretty much enjoyed the natures. In the next trip again, I’ll definitely ride a horse 🐴. Can’t wait! …
Jean Tarquninio
It's a beautiful location with walking paths from easy to challenging, clean and well marked and maintained.
Lovely cluster of cottages that are very nice from outside and do include a great screened porch. I visited the Inn which is very inviting, comfy seating areas outside and in. A restaurant that offers beautiful views of the outside with bird feeders to attract feathered friends.
I did not check out campsites or pool but would venture a guess they are equally inviting as the rest of the property.
This will definitely remain on my list for Sunday morning walks and lunch at the restaurant. Also a great place to take visiting friends for a lazy afternoon meal.
Donna Anderson
Camp sites were great. The trails are nice and well noted however, at the end of the trail, i had no direction or point of reference . I did call my peeps and they brought me back to camp. Also, a male in our group went out on his own finally returning after several hours. PARENTS, think twice about letting your children hike alone. I took the same trail the next day with my husband who realized that the trail also lacked maps or better info exiting a designated trail. I would rate my experience 4 1/2
Veda Narayana Koraganji
McCormick park is a nice getaway for the weekend. If you have reservation you can camp in the park. The wolf cave is definitely the best partof the park. You can crawl through the cave, people can in easily at the entrance but it gets narrower as it goes and at the end you have crawl out of the cave, it's not long generally takes 6-8 min. The park has waterfalls a pool and other attractions. The ticket is around $5-7 per car. You can park the car closer to the entrance and walk in the park, explore the hiking trails and other attractions, of course you can drive and park near them too but it's fun to walk. Spending an entire day would be good to explore all the areas in the park.
Kyle Sigler
This has been a center stone of childhood since I was a child. The experience is even better with my own little ones . The park is always clean, there is so much to do , plenty of trails, a cave, a waterfall, playgrounds, swimming pool, recreation and wildlife building, the list goes on. If you are looking for a fun way to spend your day or even a few days with the family... You simply can't go wrong!
Rhiannon Johns
I freaking love this park! so much! from the hiking trails and the little cave to the fossilized coral that is all over the place (not supposed to take but is very beautiful to view), I absolutely love it here. it is so peaceful! It is also a nice place to camp whether you rent cabins or bring your tent! This is probably my favorite park in Indiana
Abhishek Upadhayay
Good place to track and chill. Picnic areas have play areas for kids.
Erika DiPietro
We really enjoyed a family day at the park. We had a picnic at Deer Run & then hiked along the creek to the waterfall. It was our 1st time & we will definitely be back again! The trails were well maintained & staff were very friendly.
Karl Nordstrom
As a full-time camper, this is one of my favorite parks. Beautiful! Our teardrop club comes here every 2 years for a gathering of 200+ people and everyone loves it. The staff and rangers are all wonderful as are the campground hosts, Benny and his wife.
Elias Mitchell
Beautiful park with many acres of land. Fun creek to play in. Nice shelters, we played games under the shelter, while it was raining.
Make sure you put your food away! The raccoons are out every night. Great place to camp.

Me and my husband Joe went just for a short time. Went to the nature center and watched and photographed the squirrels. Went on the trail just behind the nature center and up past the pool area to one of the playgrounds. I have always loved visiting this state park.
