We just had a party there for my daughter's birthday, and our experience was AMAZING!!! We decided to book a private party for safety reasons, and they were accommodating! They did the set up and take downs, which saved us a bunch of time and stress. We had plenty of food and drinks, and they let my daughter have her own Playlist for the party! I would recommend GR SKATE & EVENT CENTER to anyone that is looking for a great place to host a birthday party!!

This place was great for my little sisters birthday party. They made the girls feel very special and they were very accommodating. We did the birthday room and they had it set up very nicely, and checked on us often. Briana was our party coordinator and she was GREAT, she was so kind, and was extremely helpful with anything we needed. She really helped make our experience great! Thank you so much!

Great place for the family to have fun. Had 2 of my kids birthdays here. Kids had a blast. Karrie and Layla did a great job setting up. Would definitely be returning and i recommend GR Skate as a family night out. I'd give it a 4.7 star, always got to leave room for improvements.

I took my niece (8) and nephew (4) here for their skate training workshop. The two coaches, Alberto and Layla, were very helpful. They were good with kids and offered great tips and suggestions. One thing to note is that it was definitely not like a traditional lesson where there’s set activities that everyone does at the same time, it was more like a free skate with lots of room and tips.

My son loves a good skate party. This year, we decided to do another birthday party at a skate rink. The location is amazing but the pricing and how things were handled, I am not a fan of. I had children in the party from ages 2 through 16. I was told that I had a limit of 30 skaters over the phone but then was told I can only invite 30 people regardless of who is skating. I had people will to pay additional to skate with their kids but a two year old parent will not feel comfortable leaving their kid alone at a skating rink for an 11 yr old party. The host had very little interaction with the party and it was a private party. When I went to her about the food and drinks, she rudely said, ‘Your party is a basic party that doesn’t come with food.’ I almost lost it. I immediately went through my emails to show her what I paid for but she left to get on the phone and I heard her complain about my party. She then apologized and stated she was looking at the wrong party. This is a horrible experience for a paying customer to have someone be combative about something they paid for. They counted people as they were coming in which makes sense but they actually counted parents that dropped off the kids as a part of the party and that’s wrong to do. A parent will always make sure that they find the party host before just leaving their kids. Now, the entertainment…those boys were an absolute pleasure while performing. One of them even came back to me after their show asking me if I needed anything and was very sweet about his approach. If you choose to have a party here, make sure you are counting your guests too because I’m sure my count was over due to several parents that came in and left to drop off their kids. A private party should charge for skaters not for people attending the party. That was the most frustrating because it wasn’t explained properly. EDIT IN RESPONSE TO YOUR RESPONSE: I’m sure the cameras don’t show the level of attitude given by the host while addressing me due to the loud music. As far as the six additional people in the party, two people paid their way and the other four, I was willing to pay for. When the young man came up to me, I told him I’d go to the host as I still have the text message from the coordinator telling me that they would give me a pricing on additional guests as your own staff is confused about the contract. You see, I did my due diligence way before the date of the party and because I knew there would be more than the 30, my parents that were staying to make sure they kids didn’t get injured were also willing to pay. I was in close contact with all my guests. While giving a rating, I went to the bathroom at the end of the party and there was no toilet paper. I’m hopeful my guests didn’t experience that. Luckily as a parent I always have napkins in my pockets and was able to wipe with that. When I advised the guy that was cleaning, he apologized a ton as he also saw the treatment received by your staff. Trust me when I say, this is not my perception of what happened when your staff was apologetic once I spoke Spanish to them. I’ll go and pay the $40. Clearly the establishment is in need of it but that said and the way your response was assures me that I’ll never do business here. I had a ton of adults there that will probably not do business either. Please don’t speak for what is seen in cameras that the sound might be the music. At the end of the day, the party was ruined because the host didn’t have a clue on what she was doing or how the party should have been handled. I’ve had 11 birthday parties for my son and I am fair when I leave reviews. Sadly in this case, my fair rating is not to your liking!

Had a bad experience, but the owner reached out and fixed it. Would recommend this place for skating. Has a few kinks to work out, but overall a great place. They are good business who's willing to fix mistakes, and that's a very respectable thing.

I'm confused why there's a security guard at a roller rink. It was my birthday and he wouldn't allow my friends to bring in gifts which was weird. Other than that the staff is so nice and the music is the best

Great area and staff. Just the pricing is a bit higher. I went for a birthday party. I still had to pay, although not skating. And had to pay more to skate, although the party was paid for. The strick no leaving policy was crazy as well. But, I understand to keep the peace and no intentions of deceit or harm, out. I enjoyed myself as well. Also, DJ man when it's a kids party, several going on, and the main crowd is kids. Please don't get mad when you play 13 yes and up music, while those same kids are there, that they want to skate still, too. All in all it was great. Also, those kids skating assistance things, should be moved closer and/or process changed. The party cost enough to be included or apart of the deal. Not us spending more money to rent and having to walk back and forth to pay and get it, then return process. All in all, the kids were happy. That is what matters.

The skating was really fun, but DON'T PLAY THE ARCADE!. Customer service was terrible, and when I turned in all of my tickets, the employee took them, gave me some candy and just walked away with out counting any of my tickets at all.

Haven't been skating in probably 30 years but my church has a party here and after about 10 minutes I felt confident and skated for almost 2 hours. The atmosphere is good and this historical building seems well maintained. The staff were friendly. The food was skating rink quality but what would one expect? Not sure I would come here unless it was a private party but it's a good place for an event.

On a whim, I decided to check this place out. What lucky chance that it was adult skate night, open till 11. Mind you, I haven't skated for more than 10 years, and definitely started the night shakey and staggering. By the end of the night, I was keeping up with others in the center part of the ring. The music was great and everyone looked like they were having fun. I was encouraged and given tips for better form, had a really great time. I will definitely be coming back 🙆🏼‍♀️

Hello! I hosted a party here for my dance team and it was phenomenal! Ms. Carrie and her staff were amazing! They served food and drinks, hosted an open snack bar per our request on top of playing music and catering to our special requests for dance time on the floor with the girls! What a great Sunday we had! I love how involved the DJ was with the kids, I also loved that he played a few games with them! Even when there wasn't a game being played he was still friendly with the kids and playing with them! My son also enjoyed watching him skate! The staff was super friendly! The only things I did like was... #1) that the floor was super dirty, my red wheels where gray when I left! #2) music was a bit loud at times (I feel that's because the DJ is in a closed in area and can't quite judge the levels at times) #3) I didn't care for the staff being in "street clothes", if you will, it was hard to determine who was a staff member and who was a guest! Other than those 3 things I LOVED MY VISIT! I wouldn't mind taking the trip from the flint area again!!

Awesome service for Friday night glow night. Friendly staff all around from the front lady at the desk to the service and teamwork at the concession stand to the upbeat and helpful staff at the "skates area". We will be back and want to make it a regular occasional exercise. Thank you for the quality service, fair prices and clean and improved rink atmosphere. The only downside is they don't take song requests anymore. I mean that was half the fun right?

Very accommodating staff. It was nice to watch the kids and family's all skating and enjoying themselves. I only have it a 4 star because the rental skates are not very well maintained and the sound system could definitely use some major upgrading. Overall was a great workout for everyone.

Great place to get out especially since COVID. However, for adult night the music is not that great so maybe change the music up a little. Some songs played at least 4 times and it sounds like local rappers/artist. Other than that I lot it I've been skating here since I was a kid and have convinced others to tag along with me.

This place is alright. It's nice to take kids to get them out of the house and active, especially when the weather is bad. It's close to our home and some of my daughters friends go here, that is why we go. However, most the staff are young and could careless about their customer service. The guys are more worried about flirting with the girls, and the girls spend their time eating up the attention. There have been a few times we have been here and the music has not been appropriate at all for the fact there were children here and parents have had to ask the staff to change the music. Also, they charge $5 for the helper rails for kids. If it's a birthday party they charge $10 and will give you $5 back when you return it.

A little pricey on a Saturday. The staff was excellent and very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms smelled like weed very badly. They had to come up over the intercom 4-5 times telling kids to stop fighting and just skate. I had a younger boy try taking my daughters skate buddy thing you can rent. Saying it was his number. I told him no I have the ticket for it and he kept making comments about "white people" just a disrespectful little snob. I think he wanted to get the deposit back. All of the skates were nice and the beverages were fairly priced. The music was current. Next time I'll try the Byron center one due to the crowd that was there. My family did have a good time though.

I was visiting my family in Grand Rapids for my nieces birthday which was held at GR Skate Center and I cannot tell you how much fun we had!!! The whole place was so clean and well ran. Came here for a school function of my Sons. Rentals all in good shape. Staff super friendly! Great prices! My son had never skated before and they had these Walker like things for kids learning to hold onto to help them. Additional cost to rent but so worth it! Normal roller rink food but got a hot dog and a grape slush all good! Kids had fun with the music! We will be back!

Great place to go skating they don't allow you to wear crop tops even when your 20 year's old !and they thought I was 12 ! Seriously stop judging people because of their heights .maybe they need to know they should allow actual adults to wear crop tops and whatever they want and they demand masks to be worn even when your vaccinated and have your card to prove your ur vaccinated nope need a mask still and the line to go skating is rediculous it takes hours ! . And the security guards legit yell at you for not wearing a mask or what your wearing as a adult .

The Kentwood facilities have had a complete facelift! Wow!!! I was awestruck when I walked in... The snack bar and menu is grrrrrrrreat! They have a menu with great specials and the pizza is better than big store competitors! Great place to bring the family to eat in or take out! I grab pizzas, wings, chicken fingers, fries, and “ALL BEEF” hotdogs on the way home! I love the hotdogs and pizza! The management is very customer friendly and accommodating!!! All patrons and the employees, including the manager were masked... I witnessed employees disinfecting everything! My family and I felt perfectly SAFE!

This has been my go place to skate since I was a child. Its a nice atmosphere and music is nice as well. Good staff. Not really a fan of wood floors however it is still a nice floor to skate on. 10/10 would recommend.

I haven't skated in years and my daughter wanted to give it a try. We were looking for a place we could go to that had open skating most of the week and we found The Fun Spot. Tarry Hall only has limited open skate. Needless to say, we had a great time! It's nice that they offer earlier times on certain days for the little ones and beginner skaters, and later times for the more advanced skaters. We have been to this place 3 times this week, and plan on making this a new addition to our family schedule! The staff is great, helpful, and very friendly, and they have a great food court with tons of great things on the menu! Definitely try the pizza, that is totally worth the visit alone! Thank you for providing a place where I can take my family for lots of fun at a great price!

Kentwood Fun Spot has done some much needed updates! Place looks great and I'm no longer afraid to go in the bathroom!! The concessions takes quite a bit of time, even on the slower days. The music is usually kid friendly but not so much that the older kids can't still enjoy the skate.

EDIT:8/21/2021 Since the name change it has been over priced and difficult to go with family from time changes to price raises. Post 4 years old as of edit. Price is great. I been going every Wednesday and Thursday for a few weeks now and I like it a LOT, I like the music on thursday, not as much on Wednesday, but nothing like requesting a few songs to make the difference.

Great skating rink! AWESOME STAFF!!! However, the menu online states that there is vegan food on the menu, but when we got there, the cafe states that they no longer have it. The main reason we chose to have our party here is that there were vegan options at the cafe for all the vegan guests we had invited. It would be an awesome support to all the customers to continue to offer these options. Please add them back to the cafe menu.

Out of the two Fun Spot locations, this one is the best of the two. The floor is flat (no bows or dips), the building is in better shape with efficient A/C, the light effects are fun, and the sound system is great. I will make the extra miles to attend this facility again.

Sweet staff, a bit pricey but well worth it. I think the toddlers who come out should have the option of getting an assistive device to help them stand rather than charging 20 bucks for the use of one. Other than this frustrating piece it was great.

Their was this one employee who gave me and my friend a negative attitude when my friend and me were buying pizza and he told us the price and we didn't listen so we ask him how much? And he said our price and he said solfy "for the third time" , overall my experience was good

I came here yesterday (02/22/18) to see it after my friend told me about it being really nice, and was in awe at how beautiful and clean this roller rink is. I have been to many a roller rinks in my days, and have never seen one like this. The size is larger than any I've ever been to. After skating for a couple of hours, we got hungry and decided to just order food from the food area. We got a pepperoni pizza, and couldn't believe it was roller rink pizza. It was better than most pizza you can buy from an actual pizza parlor. I spoke with Carrie (sorry if spelling is incorrect), and let her know how impressed I was with their roller rink. Their staff was very friendly, and I will be coming back here on a regular basis! And just like their slogan, I had loads of FUN!

The bounce house is really cool. I enjoyed myself. The food was over priced which was the only downside. I recommend this place.

Lovely place. Good music and large skating rink. Very good food and everyone was super nice. The only thing I would suggest changing would be to invest in better roller skates, walkers for older skaters, and an air freshener because it had smelled like feet when my friends and I had walked in. Otherwise, very good place :)

Very loud. Very. Very. Loud. Music played is the current fad, so plus on that, if you like new rap. Kinda odd how they hold your shoes as collateral for the skates, but it makes sense. Place is overall very clean, with friendly staff.

Came here for an event hosted by my sons school when my son went to get his skates they were out of inlines the guy behind the counter crumpled up my receipt and threw it away before I could ask for it back as I paid off of a card that I have to keep ALL of the receipts then when I asked for my receipt that he so rudely crumpled up he didnt even give me the right receipt needless to say we wont be back anytime soon with staff like that. The owner Scott did give me a refund on the difference on the skates and apologized for the employee which is why I still give it 3 stars

I would give The fun spot a 3 and 1/2,out of 5 I would recommend this roller skating rink to people that know how to skate because 1.It has no walk or anything to hold on to and 2. It’s really big compared to other roller skating ranks .I would also recommend bring your own skates because the ones I got were really beat up but can’t be really complaing for the price ($5) per person and the music was okay I didn’t hear any cussing but I think bringing in your own skates are better but I think there roller blades looked good.I don’t know if it was just me but most of the people could really skate so I think for a beginner this is not the place for you .(Just being honest .This is just how I feel so other beginners might enjoy this but I really didn’t.)

Fun times always. They accept a free weekly rollerskating coupon if you sign up. I see lots of potential here. Skating is back, especially JAM skating. The competition is gone so I think they should hire a marketing manager and go all out. Oh the "skate" shop is pretty bad..never staffed and doesnt have skates to buy right off the shelf. I can order online .I dont need them to do it.

It's best place the only problem Friday is bad day to go if your adult unless u have kids but Thursday might be better I have not been there yet on Thursday prices little bit higher than Friday but not too much so and $6 I would prefer if they did for adult one for $5 instead of $6 change around but it's all good

Overall it was very fun, lots of food, and music. The bathrooms (where I went) was not all that great. But, it is worth your money. The only thing I suggest is that you go to the bathroom ahead of time. But, overall it was fun.
